TNA Impact results: Team NXT vs. Team TNA steel cage match

A WarGames-esque steel cage match between WWE NXT and TNA headlines tonight’s TNA Impact from El Paso, Texas.

The match sees TNA’s Mike Santana, The Hardys, Steve Maclin & Santino Marella against NXT’s Stacks, Lexis King, Tyson Dupont, Tyriek Igwe and Brooks Jensen under WarGames entrance rules.

In another match, 20 men will compete in a battle royal for a TNA World title shot on the first Impact of 2026.

The Angel Warriors (Knockouts Champion Lei Ying Lee & Xia Brookside) take on Tessa Blanchard & Mila Moore in tag team action.

Elijah will appear to host another concert after dragging Mustafa Ali away on a horse at Final Resolution.

Please note our coverage will begin at 9 PM Eastern.

20-man battle royal for a TNA World title shot

As the match was set to begin, TNA World Champion Frankie Kazarian came out to join Tom Hannifan and Matt Rehwoldt at ringside. The title shot will come on January 15.

The bout itself featured a lot of mid-card/lower card talent outside guys like former TNA World Champion Moose. As has been pointed out by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio when it comes to World title shots, why aren’t all the top talent in the company vying for their opportunity?

There was a lot of teasing for future tag team feuds in addition to a potentially fun match between Bear Bronson and Jake Something in the middle portion. AJ Francis came out and pulled Rich Swann outside of the ring to eliminate him and cost his former First Class mate a shot.

The finals came down to Bronson, Eric Young…and Ryan Nemeth. Yes, that Ryan Nemeth. Bronson eliminated Nemeth and Young tossed Bronson but he never hit the floor to Young’s surprise. The two battled on the apron and Young was eliminated after a back body drop on the apron, giving the newcomer a title shot.

Having seen Bronson in person before, there is a lot more to him than what you saw in Bear Country. I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do in TNA if given the opportunity.

Match Result: Bear Bronson won a battle royal to earn a future TNA World title shot

-Team NXT did a backstage promo hyping up the cage match.

-The injury report revealed that Matt Cardona is out with a shoulder injury following the recent attack from Lexis King, Dani Luna and Indi Hartwell are being held out due to last week’s dog collar match, and Rich Swann is having his back evaluated after the Francis attack above.

-Mike Santana and The Hardys will be on the next cover of Pro Wrestling Illustrated.

-Bear Bronson talked with Gia Miller about his upcoming title shot.

Angel Warriors (TNA Knockouts Champion Lei Ying Lee & Xia Brookside) vs. Mila Moore & Tessa Blanchard (w/ Robert Stone & Victoria Crawford)

This one didn’t do much for me and was way too long. The crowd was dead for the most part and it was just kinda there. The end came when Lee hit Moore with a kick and then hit her Warrior’s Way swinging facebuster for the pin. I’m assuming Lee vs. Blanchard for the title is coming after Dani Luna gets her crack at the gold.

Match Result: Lei Ying Lee & Xia Brookside defeated Mila Moore & Tessa Blanchard

-Speaking of, Luna did a backstage promo calling for her title shot.

-An irate Robert Stone trying to pump up Blanchard and Moore for their past accomplishments, saying all three of them and Crawford are “the Michael Jordan of TNA.” Blanchard then issued an open challenge to any three woman to take on The Diamond Collective “because this time, we aren’t playing around.”

– Miller caught up with Brookside and Lee and asked Lee about Luna’s challenge. Lee said if she wants to fight, she won’t run. Brookside said Luna is scary, but Lee didn’t care. “Anytime, anywhere…b*tch!”

Elijah plays a concert

He played up to El Paso with a song for them until he was thankfully interrupted by Tasha Steelz of Order 4 who came out with a podium. The fans woke up and were booing her vociferously until Mustafa Ali came out and got more boos as he wanted to address an incident he said was “The Lasso in El Paso” referencing what happened at Final Resolution.

They bantered for a bit until Elijah said he wanted to fight. Elijah was about to make his way up until he was attacked by The Great Hands who eventually got dispatched. Special Agent Zero got in the way until Ali told him to stand down and have Elijah take the first shot. Elijah got distracted by Steelz and Ali nailed him in the back with a guitar, leaving Order 4 to stand tall over him.

I guess your level of excitement for this feud is how much you’re into Elijah. By me typing that, you can probably figure out where I fall on that excitement level.

– Indi Hartwell, looking no worse for the wear, did a promo talking about the dog collar match. She said once she is cleared, she is going to prove she’s the best and will be Knockouts Champion one day.

– They showed highlights of Leon Slater and Je’Von Evans taking on AJ Styles and Dragon Lee from Saturday Night’s Main Event, even tying into AMC by showing the crowd shot of Jon Bernthal who used to be on The Walking Dead.

They flipped to Tuesday’s NXT and the four-way title match that Slater won to earn a future NXT Championship shot against Oba Femi at NXT New Year’s Evil. They also showed Moose calling out NXT North American Champion Ethan Page for their title match on December 30 on NXT TV.

-In a backstage promo, Moose called out Slater for an X-Division title match at Genesis as he never invoked his rematch clause. Cedric Alexander then came into the frame and said he should rescind that request as he wants the shot instead.

-Kazarian was talking to an Elvis Presley painting inside the venue, followed up by him talking down to Bronson and that the World title wasn’t going anywhere.

Team TNA vs. Team NXT cage match

They went over the rules and this was exactly WarGames rules. Unlike those matches, this was being held in a single traditional cage so things are going to get a bit tight in there.

NXT’s Brooks Jensen and TNA’s Mike Santana (entering in a low rider that was driven into the same building by Eddy Guerrero once up on a time) started this one out.

NXT’s Lexis King was in next, so the visitors had the man advantage. A painted up Steve Maclin was in next, using King’s cane on its owner’s back. With two minute entrances, the ring was filling up quick. NXT’s Tyson Dupont was up next followed by TNA’s Matt Hardy. However, Hardy was attacked by Tyriek Igwe before he could get in there and just went in the cage instead, giving NXT a 4-on-2 advantage as Hardy was dead outside the cage.

TNA’s Jeff Hardy was out next in his first cage match of any kind in seven years, followed by new TNA International Champion Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo representing NXT. About a minute after he entered, The Righteous then came out to no reaction and took Matt Hardy to the back. (I will say their music has always been great, so there.)

Finally, Santino Marella entered at number ten, the injury sub for the aforementioned Cardona. He then took on all five NXT guys, taking them all out…except for future son-in-law Lorenzo who is engaged to his daughter, Arianna Grace. Lorenzo had no issue beating up Marella, though.

This didn’t feature any blood which seemed odd considering a) they just had a bloody dog collar match the week before and b) this is supposedly a heated rivalry.

Maclin went up to the top of the cage and was teasing a headbutt before Jensen stopped him. This led to a big suplex spot with men from both teams getting involved. The camera angle, even on the replay, didn’t do Maclin being suplexed off the top of the cage any favors, though.

Marella pulled out the cobra sock and Santana hit Spin the Block on Jensen to give Team TNA the win in more of the more tame cage matches you’ll see.

Rehwoldt said “the war has been won” by Team TNA which I’m sure you, dear reader, don’t believe. Santana, Hardy and Maclin left Marella in the cage with Stacks which led to Grace coming out. With her fiancee grounded, she was smiling and then just low-blowed her own father as Stacks beat him up.

Santana tried to get back in the cage, but the door was locked. Maclin then got in there by, well, climbing the cage. Grace then left the cage, berated Santana, and said Marella was a deadbeat father.

The war must continue!

Afterward, they went to a cinematic style deal with Matt Hardy waking up groggily with clips from The Righteous’ recent promo playing. Hardy picked up a necklace and looked confused and then, The Righteous were right there. Vincent said all of their devotion was for Hardy and asked Hardy to help them. He thinks the Hardys can become immortal, but they need to trust him. Dutch had a gift, but Hardy, still wearing his title belt, slapped it away and left as Dutch laughed.

And that’s how the show ended.

Next Week (Christmas Day):

  • 10-person Christmas Surprise tag team match
  • Year-end awards

Final Thoughts:

There was nothing here that felt consequential. As I wrote above, the cage match was tame and didn’t feel like any kind of blowoff. The TNA/NXT relationship is here to stay as long as WWE wants it to.

TNA Impact live results: Dog collar match, Final Resolution fallout

One of the more violent matches in pro wrestling returns on tonight’s TNA Impact as Dani Luna and Indi Hartwell do battle in a dog collar match from El Paso, Texas.

The show will feature the fallout from both last Friday’s TNA Final Resolution and Saturday’s NXT Deadline including TNA World Champion Frankie Kazarian who will be on hand after successfully defending against JDC.

The rivalry between TNA and NXT continues as Matt Cardona vs. Lexis King will determine the advantage in next week’s TNA vs. NXT steel cage match under WarGames rules.

A six-way bout between Jake Something, Cedric Alexander, Ryan Nemeth, BDE, Jason Hotch and Dezmond Xavier will determine the next challenger for X-Division Champion Leon Slater.

The Elegance Brand of Heather & M will take on Harley Hudson & Myla Grace while Sinner & Saint (Judas Icarus & Travis Williams) challenge Eddie Edwards & Brian Myers of The System.

TNA Tag Team Champions The Hardys will be on hand to address the challenge of new arrivals The Righteous at Final Resolution.

Taped in El Paso, Texas.

Tom Hannifan & Matthew Rehwoldt were on commentary.

The King’s Speech with Frankie Kazarian

The commentators made it clear as Kazarian made it down to the ring that JDC did not tap out, but that he passed out, in his match with Kazarian at Final Resolution last week. Kazarian bragged about “retiring” JDC (he’s still got another month). Kazarian will lead TNA into the “AMC era.” Move over, Walter White! Kazarian continued to acknowledge the “angry marks” who aren’t happy with him as TNA World Champion. I was thinking maybe AJ Styles could win a World Title in WWE, then all the old guys from vintage TNA could be on top in 2025. (Oh wait, I guess he did.)

Mike Santana came out through the crowd to a tepid reaction while Hannifan talked up a steel cage match between TNA and NXT for next week. That is Santana’s “renewed path of purpose.” Santana told Kazarian to shut up, and cut a promo in Spanish. Santana has plans. First, he’s going to lock himself into a steel cage with the team NXT and beat them. Then, on January 17th at Genesis, Santana is going to take his title back from Frankie Kazarian in Dallas, Texas. Hannifan confirmed the match as Santana has a “contractually obligated rematch.”

Next Week in the Steel Cage: Lexis King, Tyriek, Tyson, Stacks & Brooks Jensen v. Steve Maclin, Matt Cardona, Mike Cardona, and The Hardys.

— Lexis King and the rest of the NXT B-Team cut a promo on Team TNA. Stacks had a special message for Santino Marella, calling him a good director of TNA but a horrible father.

— On NXT Tuesday, all the losers from the Iron Survivor Match were put in a fatal four way match to determine the next #1 Contender for the NXT Title.

Lexis King v. Matt Cardona in a “Winner Gets the Advantage in the Steel Cage” Match

The rules for next week’s steel cage match (which had only been advertised as a “Steel Cage Match” so far) are basically War Games/Blood and Guts-lite. Two men will start, and after “a period of time” guys from alternating teams will enter every minute.

King worked over Cardona’s arm. Cardona exploded out of the corner with a clothesline to mount his comeback. Cardona drove King down to the mat with a flatliner, then followed up with a running boot in the corner. Cardona went for his wife’s finisher, but King broke it up by attacking his arm, then hitting him with a superkick.

King tried to use his walking stick as a weapon, but the referee stopped him. While King argued with the referee, Stacks ran in, but Cardona hit him with Radio Silence. However, King rolled up a distracted Cardona for the pinfall.

Match Result: King pinned Cardona (5:01)

After the match, Stacks and King worked over Cardona’s already injured arm until Steve Maclin ran in to chase them off.

— Léi Yîng Lee and  Xia Brookside put each other over, until Tessa Blanchard’s crew came over to talk trash and set herself up as Lee’s next challenger.

Myla Grace & Harley Hudson v. Heather & M by Elegance (w/ The Concierge)

The Elegance Brand came out dressed as elves and brought out fake presents, which they didn’t give to their opponents. This sparked a brief brawl before the bell.

M faked an ankle injury so Heather could cheap shot Hudson. M missed a senton and Hudson got the tag to Grace. Grace got a near fall with an inverted butterfly suplex. Grace took M out of the match with a Code Red.

The Concierge got up on the apron with one of the gifts, which Hudson grabbed to hit him over the head. Grace then rolled up Heather, but M (from the floor) pulled Heather on top of Grace and got the pinfall.

Match Result: Heather & M defeated Grace & Hudson by pinfall (3:13)

TNA Injury Report:

  • Matt Cardona is OUT with an arm injury and not cleared for the steel cage match.
  • Mustafa Ali is all scratched up from being dragged out of the arena behind a horse at Final Resolution.
  • Santino Marlla is cleared after “suffering a jaw contusion” when his soon to be son-in-law punched him at the end of Final Resolution last week.

— Gia Miller interviewed Rich Swann, who confirmed that him smacking AJ Francis with the X-Division title belt was his exit from First Class. Francis jumped Swann during the interview and left him laying.

BDE v. Jake Something v. Ryan Nemeth v. Cedric Alexander v. Dezmond Xavier v. Jason Hotch (w/ Order 4)in a Six Way Scramble for an X-Division Title Shot

Mustafa Ali got “roped into” commentary by Hannifan, and as much as I’d like to take credit for that joke, it was Hannifan’s.

There was a pretty funny spot where Something just kept running the ropes and shoulder blocking people as they would get in his way.  Cedric, BDE, and Xavier teamed up to hit Something with a superkick. But then after that, it settled into a long period of two guys doing a one-on-one match for a bit while the other four sold on the floor. Then one guy would get dump and other would jump in for the next mini-match. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Xavier hit Nemeth with a cutter. Hotch tried for a suplex on Xavier, but Xavier countered with a roll-up for a near fall. Hotck took out Xaiver with a neckbreaker, but Alexander ran in with a clothesline and hit a Michinoku Driver for a near fall. Something broke that pin up, and then Something and Alexander squared off. Something slammed Alexander, so he rolled to the floor and then BDE and Something squared off. That didn’t go so well for BDE.

Something kept his other opponents out of the ring to focus on BDE. Something set up BDE for a superplex, but Xavier and Alexander powerbombed him out of the corner. This left Xavier and Alexander to square off. Hodge took out Xaiver with an enziguri, then Hodge and Alexander had a brief exchange, until Alexander dove through the ropes to take out Something with a dive. Hodge then followed them out with a moonsualt on Alexander and Something. Xaiver then hit a tope suicida onto the pile of guys on the floor. BDE ran the ropes for his own dive, but Nemeth cut him off with a clothesline. Nemeth then mocked Mara Sadé. He hit a DDT for a near fall. Nemeth dropped to the floor to grab a chair, but Sadé showed up and took Nemeth out of the match with a superkick. (Oh my, it feels like they’re building up Sadé v. Ryan for the AMC premiere show.)

Back in the ring, Alexander hit Hodge with a Spanish Fly for a near fall. Something took out Alexander with a body block, Xavier took out Something, and BDE hit a cutter on Xavier for a near fall.

BDE hit a frog splash on Something, but before he could get the cover, Alexander snatched BDE up and gave him the Lumbar Check to get the pinfall.

Match Result: Cedric Alexander pinned BDE after a Lumbar Check to get an X-Division title match (10:01)

— Frankie Kazarian confronted Santino Marella and wanted a different challenger instead of Mike Santana. So, Kazarian made a battle royal, and the winner will face Kazarian for the championship… in three weeks, which is not the AMC premiere. At the TNA premiere on AMC, Kazarian will defend the title against someone else, but Marella hasn’t decided who. Also, the NXT Team for the cage match came along and demanded the match be 5-on-4 with Cadrona out, and Arianna Grace smacked her fiancé for being disrespectful.

Eddie Edwards & Brian Myers (w/ Alisha Edwards, Moose & JDC) v. Sinner & Saint (Judas Icarus and Travis Williams)

In a promo before the match, JDC told Eddie Edwards that he was going to bring it at Genesis in his retirement match.

This is supposed to be a type of “proving ground” match to see if Williams and Icarus are good enough for The System. Myers got worked over for the first two minutes of the match. Edwards got the hot tag, and Williams helpfully set himself up in the corner for a backpack stunner. A doulbe-team sit out powerbomb on Edwards got Williams a near fall. Williams found himself isolated by the System, and after a clothesline (the “Roster Cut?” That’s funny) and a running knee, that was it for Williams.

Match Result: Edwards & Myers defeated Sinner & Saint when Edwards pinned Williams (4:49)

The Hardys In-Ring Promo

Matt Hardy was happy to be in El Paso, home of Eddie Guerrero! The Hardys talked about the big steel cage match for next week. Jeff said he wants Santino to replace Matt Cardona with someone who loves TNA as much as the Hardys do. Matt Hardy promised the biggest year for TNA “EVAHHHHH!” Jeff Hardy sang about the NXT Team making themselves “Obsolete” (at least, I think he was supposed to be singing).

The Hardys were interrupted by the Righteous, Vincent and Dutch. The crowd did a pretty good job booing down Vincent when he got on the mic. Vincent tried to reassure the Hardys the Righteous weren’t there to hurt the Hardys, who they revered like “gods among mortals.” Dutch affirmed that it was really an honor to be in the ring with the Hardys, and Dutch put over the fans of the Hardys, who Matt called “Die-Hardys.”  Vincent also wished them luck in their steel cage match next week. And… that was it?

Then The Righetous just left.

Next Week’s Impact:

  • The Angle Warriors v. Mila Moore & Tessa Blanchard
  • A Battle Royal for a TNA World Title Match on the first Impact of 2026.
  • Team NXT (Lexis King, Tyrien, Tyson, Stacks & Brooks Jensen) v. Team NXT (Steve Maclin, Matt Cardona Santino Marella, and The Hardys) in a Steel Cage match.

Dani Luna v. Indi Hartwell in a Dog Collar Match

Luna attacked Hartwell after she was attached to the dog collar. Hartwell whipped Luna with the chain, and after Luna was attached to the dog collar, the match got officially underway.

Hartwell got a near fall after a side slam. Luna dropped to the floor and tried to leave, but could only get so far since she was attached by the neck to a chain. Hartwell pulled Luna into the ring apron. Luna pulled Hartwell into the ring ropes. Back in the ring, Luna choked Hartwell with the chain.

The fight went to the floor, and Luna use the chain to wrap Hartwell around a ringpost. She choked the air out of her and whipped her with the chain. Luna hit Hartwell with a boot before unwrapping her opponent, then yanking Hartwell into the post shoulder-first. Hartwell pulled Luna back into the post and she hit it headfirst, busting herself open.

Back in the ring, Hartwell worked the cut. Hartwell booted Luna over the ropes. Hartwell yanked Luna with the chain into a spinebuster for near fall. Luna crotched Hartwell with the chain and hit a running boot for a near fall. Luna stopped to give us a look at her gory bladejob.

Luna dropped to the floor for some powder, but Hartwell tripped Luna up and she spilled the powder. Luna shoved Hartwell into the ref, knocking her out. Luna hit the Luna Landing, but the ref was out… until she crawled over and counted the pin. Well, that was anti-climatic.

Match Result: Luna pinned Hartwell (12:20).

This was definitely a show that happened. A lot of the next month is going to be setting up the AMC premiere and Genesis. So this was about to start setting up bigger things down the line, which is fine. I would have guessed they’d put the belt back on Santana on the first AMC show, but I guess saving it for Genesis might work.

**********

Pre Show.

Live from El Paso, Texas.

Tom Hannifan & Matthew Rehwoldt were on commentary.

Cedric Alexander v. Eric Young

Alexander got a near fall after a moonsault and a dropkick. Young tried to use the referee as a human shield when Alexander went for a springboard attack. Young then caught Alexander with a cheap shot to get the advantage.

Young caught Alexander with a powerslam for a near fall. Alexander came back and slammed Young down against the ring apron. Alexander then sprung through the ropes with a flatliner for a near fall. Young hit a top rope elbow for a near fall. Young disputed the ref’s count and threatened to hit her, and almost lost the match with Alexander caught him with a surprise small package. Alexander then hit the brainbuster and got the pinfall.

Match Result: Alexander defeated Young via pinfall (7:37)

— Leon Slater tells Gia Miller than AJ Francis is going to have to answer for the disrespect he’s been giving everyone when they meet for the X Division title match tonight. BDE came along to tell Slater he would have his back tonight.

Moose, Brian Myers & Eddie Edwards (w/ Alicia Edwards)  b. CW Anderson,  Brock Anderson, Bear Bronson

Yes, that CW Anderson from ECW a million years ago.

This is a bonus match (an open challenge from The System) and the debuts of the Andersons and Bronson in TNA. Myers was Bronson’s trainer, adding an extra layer of story to this impromptu match. Myers hit Bronson with a jumping DDT. CW distracted Myers, and Myers walked into a choke bomb for a near fall.

Myers countered a double-team from the Anderson with a clothesline, and Moose and Bear got the tags from their partners. Moose dropped Brock with a uranage, and pulled Bronson out of the corner with hanging tree slam for a near fall. Brock got the tag and took a thunderous headbutt from Moose.

Edwards and Myers combined for the System Overload on Brock, and Myers got the pinfall.

Match Result: Myers, Edwards, and Moose defeated the Andersons & Bronson when Myers pinned Brock (6:26)

Main Show.

Mike Santana v. Charlie Dempsey

This one started off fast. Dempsey jumped right into a death valley driver from Santana. He dropped to the floor, and Santana followed him out with a dive. Santana got a superstar reaction.

Back in the ring, Santana went for the three amigos, but Dempsey cut him off and attacked Santana’s still-injured arm (from the NXT attack weeks ago). Dempsey was like a dog with a bone the way he went after Santana’s arm. Dempsey tried for a head scissors, but Santana escaped and dropkicked Dempsey.

Santana mounted a brief comeback, but Dempsey went back to the arm. Dempsey pounded Santana with forearms in the corner. After Dempsey and Santana exchanged “Boo/Yay” strikes, Santana floored Dempsey with a clothesline and both men were down.

Santana caught Dempsey with an enziguri, then hit the rolling cutter for a near fall. Santana went for this discus lariat but Dempsey blocked it. Dempsey countered another rolling cutter attempt with a German suplex, then went to an armbar. Dempsey delivered butterfly superpelx from the top rope. Dempsey tried for a vertical suplex, but Santana countered and hit the three amigos. Santana followed up with a frog splash off the top, then hit the discus lariat to get the pinfall.

Match Result: Santana pinned Dempsey (9:00)

The crowd loves Santana, who should still be TNA World Champion.

— Gia Miller interviewed Frankie Kazarian and he’s going to defeat JDC because he’s a loser, just like everyone in the crowd.

The IInspiration v. Tessa Blanchard & Victoria Crawford (w/ Robert Stone) for the TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Championship

Ash by Elegance joined the commentators for this match.

The IInspriation sent their opponents to the floor, and then came off the apron with some weak-looking body blocks. Blanchard got the heat on McKay. Crawford and Blanchard went after McKay’s leg. Blanchard really went after McKay’s knee, twisting it around the ring ropes and pounding it with punches. Blanchard tied up McKay’s legs and but her hand, then locked in a half-crab.

McKay ducked a charge from Crawford, then dumped Blanchard and got the tag to Cassie Lee. Cassie hit Blanchard with a lung blower for a near fall. McKay made a blind tag, but her knee was still hurting. Stone threw one of the title belts into the ring, but Crawford got caught when a kick when she tried to use it. Heather and M by Elegance tried to run in, but the IInspiration chased them off, then took out Crawford with the Idolizer to get the win.

Match Result: The IInspiration retained the Knockouts Tag Team Titles when Lee pinned Crawfor (8:45).

The TNA Injury Report:

  • Mike Santana’s arm is being evaluated.
  • Leon Slater is cleared for tonight, despite the bruising he suffered in an attack last night.
  • Dani Luna is out with a contusion.
  • Matt Cardona is cleared for a street fight.

— Santino Marella and Arianna Grace have a heart to heart. Marella admierd how his daughter, Grace, can keep her business life (the war between NXT and TNA) and her personal life (her engagement to Stacks) separate.

Mance Warner (w/ Steph De Lander) v. Matt Cardona in a Street Fight

Warner started out with a chair and Cardona started out with a kendo stick, and Warner won the first exchange. Cardona sent Warner into the chair headfirst (that Warner had set up in the corner), then hit him with a boot for a near fall.

Marner dropped to the floor, so Cardona followed him out and choked him with his t-shirt. Cardona beat on Warner with a trash can. Cardona positioned the trash can to suplex Warner onto it, but De Lander grabbed the trash can and smacked Cardona with it, allowing Mance to get the edge.

Warner grabbed another chair and smacked Cardona across the back with it. Warner suplexed Cardona on the entrance ramp. Warner pulled a door out from under the ring and some more trash cans. Cardona beat Warner with one of the chairs, and the crowd chanted “one more time!” to encourage Cardona.

Warner used the ref as a human shield, and this distracted the ref long enough to have De Lander spray something in Cardona’s face. Warner hit a tornado DDT through the table for near fall. Warner hit Cardona with a trash can lid. Warner and Cardona exchanged “Boo/Yay” strikes.

Cardona gave Warner an Unprettier into a chair for a near fall. The crowd chanted for tables while Cardona worked over Warner with a kendo stick. De Lander grabbed at Cardona’s leg, and Warner hit Cardona with a trash can, then gave him an uranage for a near fall.

Cardona pulled a Santa present sack out from under the ring and hit Warner with it. The sack exploded with Cardona’s mini-figures. Cardona hit an Attitude Adjustment onto a pile of action figures for a near fall.

Now Cardona pulled out his own door from underneath the ring. While Cardona was setting up the door, Warner was able to recover enough to hit Cardona with an implant DDT for a near fall.

DeLander gave Warner a screw driver. Warner tried to stab Cardona with the screwdriver, but Cardona ducked and the screwdriver went through the door. Cardona then hit Warner with Radio Silence through the door and got the pinfall.

Match Result: Cardona pinned Warner (11:27)

— JDC talked to himself in the mirror. If Cena can win the WWE title on his way out, why can’t JDC win the TNA World Title on the way out? If JDC does win the title tonight, he’ll defend against Eddie Edwards at Genesis. JDC seems conflicted about his retirement, and keeps kinda throwing his wife under the bus because of it.

Steve Maclin v. Stacks (w/ Lexis King) for the TNA International Title

Maclin charged Starks as soon as he got to the ring and the fight was on. Maclin tossed Starks around the ring, then tossed him to the floor. Starks was bumping around the ring for Maclin like a rubber ball. King tried to distract Maclin, and it lead to Stacks catching Maclin with a shot to the throat.

Maclin came back with a hard knee to the gut and a back elbow. Maclin hung Stacks up in the ropes and sent King to the floor when he jumped up on the apron. Maclin charged in for a shoulderblock, but Stacks got out of the way and Maclin hit the steel post and tumbled to the floor.

Stacks hit Maclin with a cannonball in the corner for a near fall. Stacks hit a sliding forearm for a near fall. Maclin suplexed Stacks into the ropes. King got in a cheap shot while Stacks distracted the ref. Stacks tried to get Maclin in an abdominal stretch, and eventually did but it looked awkward. King then gave Starks additional leverage when the ref wasn’t looking.

Maclin escaped the abdominal stretch with a hiptoss, then he tossed Stacks to the floor. King threw Stacks back in the ring and he walked right into a backbreaker. Maclin mounted his comeback by hitting a Thez press. A small cut opened on Maclin.  Maclin took both Stacks and King out with a plancha to the floor, then stole King’s cowboy hat.

Back in the ring, Maclin hit an Angle Slam for a near fall. Stacks hit a running knee for a near fall. Stacks dropped Maclin into a gut buster for a near fall. Maclin avoided another running knee, then hit his own running knee for a near fall. Maclin hit top rope headbutt for another near fall.

Maclin hung Stacks up in the ropes and charged in with a shoulder block. Stacks dropped the the floor. Maclin went after King, and Starks went for a surprise roll up. Maclin wound up for a big clothesline, but Stacks ducked and Maclin almost clotheslined the ref. Maclin caught himself, but the ref covered up to avoid getting hit. This allowed Stacks to grab King’s walking stick and bean Maclin with it, and of course the NXT guy is taking the TNA guy’s title.

Match Result: Stacks defeated Steve Maclin to win the TNA International Title (11:36)

After the match, Carlos Silva, who was watching the match and is the president of the company, hands Stacks his title belt. The president of the company doesn’t think to restart the match that he was just watching when it was won by obvious cheating? Espcially when the cheater is someone who is “invading?”

— Gia Miller interviewed the Hardys about their title match later against NXT’s Tyson & Tyriek, but the Hardys will not be intimated.

Xia Brookside v. Léi Yîng Lee for the TNA Knockouts World Championship

Brookside and Lee hug before the match gets under way. The match was very scientific in the early going. They both know each other very well and the match stays quite even. They were able to block each other’s hip toss attempt, and then dodge each other’s dropkick.

Brookside caught Lee with an elbow in the corner, but Lee escaped a rana with a handspring and then hit Brookside with a dropkick. Brookside came off the middle ropes with a crossbody for a near fall. Brookside charged in the corner with a knee, but Lee got out of the way. Lee hit a snap suplex for a near fall.

Lee worked over Brookside with a chinlock. Lee went for a suplex, but Brookside countered with a small package for a near fall. Brookside went for a kick, but Lee caught it and yanked her down into a half-crab. Brookside tried to crawl to the ropes, but Lee dragged her back into the middle of the ring and turned the hold into an STF. Lee then transitioned into a crossface, but Brookside escaped that and went for a cradle. Brookside took Lee down with a tijeras, but missed a charge in the ropes. Brookside caught Lee with a kick for a near fall.

Brookside hit Lee with a meteora in the corner, then followed up with a Russian leg sweep for near fall. Brookside tied up Lee with the Octopus. Brookside added some elbows to the ribs to try and wear Lee down. Lee escaped, but Brookside turned that into a pin attempt. Lee escaped the pin attempt and charged in with a knee for two.

Lee superplexed Brookside, but both women were down for the count. Lee got to her knees at six, but didn’t go for a cover. Lee went for a spinning slam, but Brookside escaped and hit Lee with a lung blower for two. Brookside caught Lee with a tornado DDT for two.

Both women started exchanging forearms. They dodged each other kicks again, and Brookside caught Lee with a roll up for two. Lee floored Brookside with a kick, then finished her off with a spinning face buster to get the pinfall.

Match Result: Léi Yîng Lee retained the Knockouts World Title by pinfall over Xia Brookside (12:39)

After the match, Carlos Silva presented Lee with her Knockouts World Championship, and both Brookside and Lee hugged. Gia Miller stopped the combatants as they were leaving. Lee said she was happy with her victory, and put over Brookside. They embraced, and Dani Luna charged in and attacked Lee and Brookside. Luna sent Lee into the ring stairs and started pounding on Brookside, until Indi Hartwell ran in to attack Luna. At this point, a gaggle of security geeks ran down to break up the fighting, and Luna slammed one of the geeks! They eventually got everyone separated.

— Lexis King and his NXT gang celebrated Stacks International Title Victory.

Order 4 (Agent Zero, Mustafa Ali, Jason Hotch & Jon Skylar) vs. The Rascalz (Trey Miguel, Zachary Wentz, Myron Reed & Dezmond Xavier)

The Rascals schooled Skylar and Hotch for a bit. Ali got the tag and didn’t do much better, winding up in the Rascalz corner and subject the longest Bronco Buster I’ve ever seen.

Ali was fed up and tagged in Agent Zero, who immediately boots Wentz down. Zero then took out the rest of the Rascalz with headbutts and clotheslines. The Rascalz try a four-on-one attack and that doesn’t go any better for them. Zero slammed three of the Rascalz at once, then took Wentz down with a flatliner. Then kipped up! It was like Gulliver taking on the Lillliputians.

After Zero finished killing everyone, Ali tagged back in and went to work on Wentz with a chinlock. Skylar and Hotch hit Wentz with a double team neckbreaker for a near fall. Wentz missed an enziguri and got suplexed for a near fall. Tasha Steelz choked Wentz against the ropes while Ali distracted the ref.

Agent Zero tagged back in and press-slammed Wentz, then took out the rest of the Rascalz. Zero missed a charged in the corner, and Wentz dodged Skylar and Hotch. Wentz dodged another charge from Ali, and Ali hit the turnbuckles awkwardly and hard.

Reed got the tag. Ali dove the floor the and Xavier followed him out with a dive. Reed got a near fall on Skylar. Tasha Steelz distracted Reed with her feminine wiles. Reed decided to shoot his shot with Steelz, and got clocked by Agent Zero for his troubles.

Agent Zero took out three of the Rascalz and two of his own teammates with a plancha. Ali then climb up for his own dive, but Myron Reed jumped over the top ropes and took Ali down with a cutter onto an a pile of guys on the floor.

While everyone was brawling around the ring, Ali decided he’d had enough and left. Agent Zero then when 1-on-4 against the Rascalz. The Rascalz sent Zero into the ring steps. Skylar hit Reed with a slingshot spear. The Great Hands set up Reed for their finisher. Elijah’s music played, distracting Order 4. Ali , who was watching from the back of the arena, was attacked by Elijah! Elijah hogtied Ali and drug him out of the arena. This distracted the rest of Order 4, and the Rascals came back. Reed slid out of the ring and hit Hotch with a destroyer on the floor.

The Rascals tossed Skylar back into the ring, and hit him with a meteora, a swanton bomb, the spiral tap, and Reed finished him off with a slingshot 450 splash.

Match Result: The Rascalz beat Order 4 when Reed pinned Skylar (14:27).

This was certainly wild. It felt like they were dragging Ali off into the sunset for good, but maybe I’m reading too much into that.

Tyson Dupont & Tyriek Igwe v. The Hardys for the TNA World Tag Team Championship

Before the match can begin, the lights go out. “The Gods Walk Among Mortals” is shown on the big video boards. This distraction allowed Dupont and Igwe to jump the Hardys and get the advantage. Dupont and Igwe try to get a “Delete!” from the crowd by yanking off Matt’s arm, but the crowd won’t have it. Hardy managed to trick Dupont into trying to hank off Igwe’s arm in a funny spot.

The Hardys double-team Igwe with a standing moonsault/fistdrop combination. Hardy went for the Twist of Fate on Dupont, but he easily powered out. But Jeff wound up caught up in the ropes, and Igwe got the advantage. Igwe and Dupont worked over Jeff Hardy with chin locks.

Jeff escaped Dupont’s chinlock with a jawbreaker and got the tag on Matt. Matt deleted Igwe’s head into the turnbuckles, then did the same to Dupont. Matt Hardy gave Dupont a Side Effect and Dupont jumped about a mile in the air for Matt. Matt hit Igwe with a Side Effect as well. Igwe escaped the Twist of Fate, but got caught on the top by Matt, who suplexed Igwe down. But after Matt landed, Dupont ran in with a splash to take control.

Dupont and Igwe hit a double-team back suplex for a near fall. The crowd was solidly behind the Hardys, and Matt took Dupont down with a Twist of Fate. Matt sent Igwe to the floor. Jeff got the tag and hit the Swanton on Dupont to get the pinfall.

Match Result: The Hardys retained the TNA World Tag Team Championship when Jeff pinned Dupont (8:43)

This was solid.

After the match, the lights go out again. “Have you heard the good news? The Righteous are coming.”

And in fact, the Righteous, Vincent and Dutch, are here in TNA. The crowd greeted them with a “Who Are You?” chant. The Righteous stood in the entrance way and had a staredown with the Hardys.

— Eric Young sat in the stairwell and talked about how often he’s watched TNA rise and fall (and rise and fall, and rise and fall, and rise and fall). Young goes into his disease and cleansing routine and I’m just so tired and bored with this guy. Either get to the point or go away.

AJ Francis (w/ Rich Swann) v. Leon Slater for the X-Division Championship

Hannifan reminded us “it’s not about weight limits… it’s about no limits.” Which, well, duh. Francis is like twice the size of Slater.

Slater was very evasive early on, hitting a superman forearm off the ring steps and a slingshot body block on the floor. He escaped a choke slam with a backflip and hit an enziguri. But when he tried a backflip, Francis caught him and clubbed him down.

Francis choked Slater against the ropes. Francis stretched Slater against the ropes, than hit him with a forearm. Francis crushed Slater in the corner with an avalanche, then whipped him head over heels into the turnbuckle. Francis followed up with a charging knee into the corner.

On the floor, Francis gave Slater a face-first suplex onto the apron.

Back in the ring, Slater mounted a brief comeback, but ate a boot for a near fall. Francis worked over Slater with a chinlock. Slater battled back and tried for a suplex, which was a ridiculous idea and Francis killed him with an elbow. Slater rolled out of the way of a senton.

Slater and Francis exchanged “Boo/Yay” forearms, with Slater’s forearms barely registering with Francis, while Francis sent Slater flying across the ring. Eventually Slater stunned Francis with a series of forearms and a kick. Rocked back, Slater was able to use Francis’s momentum to drop him with a blue thunder bomb. Slater went for a 450, but Francis got out of the way. Both Slater and Francis avoided hit the ref, and Francis hit a low blow behind the ref’s back. Francis then hit a spear for a near fall.

Swann distracted the ref, and Francis went for a steel chair. BDE ran in to take the chair away from Francis. So Francis broke him in half with a choke slam. Slater tried to hit Francis with a dive to the floor, but Francis caught him and sent him headfirst into the ringpost.

Back in the ring, Francis posed on the middle rope with a Go Pro he took from someone at ringside. Slater dropkicked Francis over the ropes, then ran across the diagonal of the ring and dove over the ring post to hit Francis with a dive, while holding the Go Pro.

Slater hit the Crossover Splash for a near fall. Francis came back with a massive choke slam. Francis tried a moonsault off the middle rope, but Slater popped up and caught him mid-move with a superkick! That only got two.

Swann tried to slide a chair in the ring, but this was just a distraction for Francis to hit Slater with the title belt. But that still wasn’t enough to pin Slater. Francis called Swann into the ring to hit Slater with the belt. Swann refused to do it, and Francis in Swann’s face about it. The referee tried to break that up, and so Francis got in HER face about that, too. So after bullying Swann and the referee, Swann grabs the belt, and the ref turns her back and closes her eyes so Swann could ABSOLUTELY MURDER FRANCIS WITH A BELT SHOT! Slater then hit Francis with a Swanton 450 and the pinfall was academic.

Match Result: Leon Slater pinned AJ Francis to retain the X-Division Championship (14:50)

This was exactly what it needed to be. Slater sold like a million bucks for Francis, who got his comeuppance from everyone at the end.

After the match, Slater, BDE, Carlos Silva and the referee all celebrated Slater’s victory.

This Thursday on Impact, Dani Luna v. Indi Hartwell in a Dog Collar Match

Ryan Nemeth came out dressed like a turkey to annoy the crowd. He called Mara Sadé a tramp and said her superkick was “weak and sloppy.” So of course Sadé snuck up behind Ryan while he was insulting her, and super kicked him again.

JDC v. Frankie Kazarian for the TNA World Championship

I can’t believe JDC has been wrestling for 27 years. Kazarian entered the arena in a green Cadillac convertible.

Kazarian held the ropes open so  JDC could just leave and retire. JDC grabbed Kazarian and leveled him with a short-arm clothesline, then tossed Kazarian to the floor. JDC and Kazarian brawled up the stage. Kazarian went after the eyes. Kazarian hiptossed JDC on the stage. The ref demanded that Kazarian get back in the ring, or he would count him out. Kazarian was totally fine with that. That threat totally backfired on the referee.

The fight eventually did get back to the ring. Kazarian delivered a suplex. The crowd did start a brief chant for JDC, but it didn’t go anywhere. Kazarian went for a suplex, but JDC countered with a small package for two. Kazarian floored JDC with a clothesline.

Kazarian dropped JDC with a back suplex for a near fall. Kazarian got tied up in the ropes, and JDC hit a springboard legdrop. The crowd got a better JDC chant going, but there was no heat for his rally. JDC caught Kazarian with a side Russian legsweep. JDC hit a powerslam for a near fall.

Kazarian missed a legdrop on the apron and dropped to the floor. JDC then did a somersault plancha over the ropes that mostly hit the floor, and both guys were down. JDC threw Kazarian in the ring. Kazarian caught JDC coming in with the slingshot cutter for a near fall.

Kazarian brought the belt into the ring to use as a weapon. The ref stopped Kazarian, and JDC rolled up Kazarian for two. Kazarian suplexed JDC in the corner. JDC whipped Kazarian into the referee, and then JDC followed that up by inadvertently hitting the ref with a forearm.

JDC hit an air raid crash. He went for the cover but the ref was out. JDC got the visual pinfall, but when a second ref finally got out there it was just a two count. JDC missed a top rope legdrop. Kazarian went for another belt shot, but JDC ducked and went for a roll up. Kazarian rolled through and locked JDC in the chicken wing. After a brief struggle, JDC passed out and Kazarian retained.

Match Result: Frankie Kazarian defeated JDC via ref stoppage (13:28).

After the match, the System came out to console JDC in his loss. Kazarian left, and Lexis King and the NXT midcard ran out and took out the System. After disposing of the System, King poured lighter fluid all over the TNA logo on the ring canvas. Before King could burn the ring down, Mike Santana, Steve Maclin and the Hardys ran in to put a stop to that. Santino Marella and his gaggle of security geeks and referees ran in to break up the fighting. In the middle of the chaos, Stacks knocked out Marella, his soon to be father-in-law.

From the Knockouts title match to the X-Divsion title match, that part of the show was pretty solid. But that main event was not it. I’m not buying Kazarian as champion and nobody was buying JDC as a threat. Hopefully the plan is to get the belt on a babyface at the start of the AMC era.

**********

Pre show.

There was a modest set-up for the Hall of Fame inductions, with a small podium in the back of the arena so it looked like they were surrounded by fans.

Tommy Dreamer inducts the Beautiful People into the TNA Hall of Fame. Dreamer is accompanied by Jazz and TNA President Carlos Silva. Dreamer is here to induct the Beautiful People despite being ugly because Billy Gunn was unavailable. Dreamer quickly brought out Angelina Love & Velvet Sky, who put a paper bag over Tommy’s head. This is a full-circle moment for the Beautiful People, who debuted at Bound for Glory in 2007. Love thanked all the women who were in the “Gauntlet for the Gold” match in 2007, and her trainer. She also thanked her trainer, Tommy Dreamer for hiring her (she was his first hire), and “Cute Kip” (aka Billy Gunn). She also thanked The Jarrett Family and Vince Russo, the composer who created their entrance music, and all the production people. Love introduced her family to the crowd and thanked them her support. She apparently bit her sister to get the remote back when she tried to change the channel from wrestling (wish I’d thought of that). She thanked the fans and her partner Velvet Sky, and turned the podium over to her.

Velvet Sky also thanked all the people behind the scenes, and again noted it was a full circle moment for her having gotten her start at Bound for Glory. She also thanked Dreamer and Terry Taylor, Jeff Jarrett and Vince Russo, Jeremy Borash, Mikey Tenay, Don West and Taz. She thanked her parents for their support when she left college to chase her dream as a pro wrestler, her trainer Jason Knight. She thanked Afa and his family for inviting her to wrestle on her WXW shows, where she won her first wrestling championship. Sky also thanked her partner, and told the young girls out there to never stop chasing their dreams. She thanked her extended family and the fans, her “Pigeon Army.” She led the crowd in a chant of “Let the pigeons loose!” to end her speech.

Lisa Marie Varon inducts Mickie James into the TNA Hall of Fame. Varon, who was very emotional,  brought out a copy of the TNA Knockouts Championship. Varon wanted to be comfortable so she tossed her heels into the crowd. Varon threw her speech away and spoke from the heart about how James came into WWE “like a Tennessee Tornado.” They did whatever it took to prove that they weren’t just the best match “for a women’s match” but for the best match, period. Varon described James as a friend that is there, who shows up.  Varon described Mickie James as a role model “not just in wrestling, but in life.” Honestly, even though she was very emotional,  you couldn’t have asked for a better induction from Varon.

The crowd chanted “you deserve it!” for Mickie. James described TNA as “a family.” She thanked Jeff and Jerry Jarrett for taking a chance on “Alexis Laree” and thanked Raven, Julio and CM Park for her early days in TNA (the weekly-ppv days). That was her launching pad to WWE. She then thanked Dixie Carter for convincing her to come back to TNA in 2010 and reinvent herself as “Hardcore Country.” She praised TNA as a company in 2010 who didn’t just give women four minute matches, but main events. James got emotional talking about her last TNA run, how she came into a locker room feeling defeated but left feeling vindicated. She praised the loyalty of the TNA fanbase and the “Hardcore Country” fanbase. James thanked her parents for instilling her love for wrestling and not to listen to the naysayers who are afraid to go after your dreams. For her haters, fakers, and under-appreciators, she finished with the lyrics from her “Hardcore Country” song.

WWE could learn something from TNA about keeping these things short and to the point.

Tom Hannifan & Matthew Rehwoldt were on commentary for the pre-show match.

The IInspiration (Cassie Lee & Jessie McKay) v. The Elegance Brand (M & Heather) (w/ The Personal Concierge)  for the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Title (4:37)

Ash walked out with the Elegance Brand but adjourned to the back for the match. Heather and M jumped the IInspiration before the bell. M hit a Van Terminator style coast-to-coast dropkick on Cassie for a  near fall. M tied Lee up in a bow-and arrow type move to allow Heather to come off the top with a double stop for another near fall.

Finally, McCay got the tag and ran wild on her opponents. She threw Ashley into M, then hit M with a boot so she DDT’d her partner. McCay caught a pump kick from M but kicked out  at two. McKay ducked a shot from Ashley, who hit her partner. Then the IInspiration finished off M with the Idolizer and Lee got the pinfall.

After the match, TNA President Carlos Silva presented the IInspiration with their tag team title belts.

Bound for Glory!

Tom Hannifan & Matthew Rehwoldt were on commentary.

The US Marines from “Recruiting Station Boston” present the colors and the National Anthem is played.

Steve Maclin defeated Frankie Kazarian to regain the TNA International Title (7:58)

The anthem and the Marines led right into Steve Maclin’s entrance for the opening match, so it would have been booking malpractice for him not to win the title back. Maclin also has his mother and other friends and family at ringside.

Maclin started off fast against Kazarian. Kazarian caught Maclin with a guillotine legdrop, then hit him with a sunset bomb to the floor. This was barely a minute into the match. Kazarian sent Maclin into the steel stairs, then got into Maclin’s mother’s face. Kazarian offered mom a free shot, and she gave him a double bird instead. Maclin jumped Kazarian tossed him back into the ring.

Back in the ring, Maclin Kazarian with a  Thez press. Maclin escaped a chicken wing attempt and caught Kazarian with an olympic slam. Maclin hung Kazarian into the ropes for a shoulder block. Kaz tried to duck it, but Maclin went for a chicken wing. Kazarian countered that into a cradle, but got caught using the ropes and the ref stopped her count. Kazarian tried for a springboard, but Maclin pulled him into a Boston Crab, that he refused to break right away.

Kazarian hit a Pelé kick and the Angle’s Wings for a near fall since stealing people’s moves is all the rage this weekend. Kazarian tried to go for an avalanche Fade to Black, but Maclin broke that up by biting Kazarian. Kazarian dodged a top rope headbutt, then caught Maclin with a cutter for a near fall. Kazarian hung Maclin upside down for a running shoulder block, but Maclin escaped, hung up Kazarian and hit him with the shoulder block. Maclin hit the KIA and got the pinfall to regain the championship.

After the match, Maclin and his mother celebrated the title victory by flipping off the camera.

— Hannifan and Rehwoldt ran down the card.  When Hannifan and Rehwoldt were running down the card, the only match that got a notable pop was Hardys/Team 3D.

— Trick Williams and his lawyer ran down the why he wears his championship belt upside down, and if there’s any shenanigans he’s lawyer will be laying down cases on the all the snitches.

Tessa Blanchard (w/ Victoria Crawford) defeated Gia Miller (w/ Jody Threat) (6:15)

Miller came out with all kinds of intensity, while Blanchard was nonplussed. Miller wrestles “occasionally,” but this is her first match in TNA.

Blanchard offerend Miller a headlock. Which she took, but Blanchard quickly escaped. Blanchard turned her back and Miller got a quick cradle on her for another near fall. Blanchard then snapped Miller’s neck against the ropes and stopped screwing around. Blanchard pressed Miller’s face into the steel stairs, then suplexed her on the stairs. Blanchard then drug beat on Miller in front of her family, seated at ringside.

Back in the ring, Blanchard distracted the ref so Crawford could get a shot in. Blanchard hit Miller with a superkick. Crawford interfered in front of the referee, who ejected Crawford. Blanchard dumped Crawford to the floor. Security tried to escort Crawford away, but Blanchard interfered. Threat then came off the top with a forward moonsault to take out everybody. Threat chased Crawford to the back.

Back in the ring, Miller made a comeback. She hit a Thez press and monkey flipped Blanchard out of the corner. She went for a crossbody that missed badly, but Blanchard still sold it for a near fall. Miller walked into a boot and Blanchard worked her over with right hands in the corner. Miller countered by locking up Blanchard’s arms and hit her with a straight headbutt. Miller tried to power Blanchard out of the corner with a powerbomb, but Blanchard pulled a roll of quarters out of somewhere, knocked out Miller, and got the pinfall. Just like daddy taught her!

The TNA Injury Report:

  • Team 3D and the Hardys are cleared, but the Matt Hardy is beat up.
  • Joe Hendry is hurt after the no-dq match from last week.
  • Mike Santana and Trick Williams are also cleared for their title match.

Franike Kazarian and Nic Nemeth co-won the Call Your Shot Gauntlet in a double-pin (30:57)

Two wrestlers enter. After 2 minutes, a wrestle enters every 60 seconds. Eliminations occur by pinfall until the final 2 wrestlers are left. Then it’s a one-on-one match to determine a winner. And the winner gets a title shot at whatever championship they want for up to a calendar year.

Léi Yîng Lee was the first entrant by virtue of being the last person eliminated in a qualifying match a few weeks ago. Mara Sadé was the second entrant. They did a basic babyface match for two minutes, teasing near eliminations. After two minutes (no gimmicked clock, or at least it was close enough for now), Ryan Nemeth (3) was next. The knockouts double-teamed Nemeth until Nic Nemeth (4) came in to a huge pop. Sadé dropped Nic with a superkick. Lee and Sadé tried to dump Nic, but Ryan made the save. Nic took out both women with a double clothesline.

Cedric Alexander (5) came in and dumped both Nemeths with German suplexes. Rich Swann (6) of First Class was nexst, and he had a great exhcange with Alexander. Swann thendug into Alexander’s face with an eye rake. Alexander responded with a big boot. AJ Francis (7) was in next, and they missed an opportunity to do a skit in the preshow of Francis and Swann buying consecutive numbers. Francis tossed Lee to the mat in an ugly visual. Francis then eliminated both Sadé and Lee. Francis then chokeslammed Swann (his partner!) and then dumped him to the floor.

Travis Williams (8) came in after winning a coin flip against his partner to be the representative for his team. The Nemeths teamed up against Williams while Alexander and Francis went at it in another corner.  BDE (9) was next. He’s a “famous wrestling Youtuber.” I’ve never heard of him. He did a spot with Francis and then ate a superkick from Nic Nemeth. The Rascals (10), all of them, were next. So yes, one tag team was only around one representative in the match, but this team was allowed three. At least these inconsistencies can be explained by Santino being… well, being Santion.

BDE and the Rascals combined to superkick Francis out of the match.

Dani Luna (11) came in and suplexed two of the Rascals. Williams and Luna did spots while everyone else laid around the ring out of their way.  Eric Young (12) was next and went after former partner Williams. Williams almost eliminated Young with a clothesline. They fought on the apron. Young lowblowed Williams, hit him with a piledriver on the apron, and dumped him to the floor.

Jake Something came in at 13, shout out to Taylor Swift! Something and Luna powerbombed two of the Rascals. They tried to dump Trey Miguel and Myron Reed, but they skinned the cat back in. Young smacked BDE and eliminated him. Rosemary (14) was next. Miguel and Alexander were eliminated by Eric Young.

The Home Town Man (15) came in with the UMass mascot. Something tried to hold the Home Town Man for the mist from Rosemary. But the Man ducked and Something got misted and eliminated. You could say he got… something in his eyes.

Zack Clayton (16) came out with Guido from the ECW’s original FBI. He hit Clayton hit the Home Town man with a powerslam and a clothesline. Dani Luna eliminated Rosemary, and the Man eliminated Luna. Jody Threat (17) ran around and around the ring until Frankie Kazarian floored her with a clothesline. She never got in the ring, so Frankie Kazarian took her spot, shoving Santino Marella in the process. So of course, Santino Marella was in at 18. Marella hit Kazarian with the COBRA (which sent Kazarian through the ropes and to the floor, which becomes annoyingly important later). Santino came in… and was instantly eliminated by a Nic Nemeth clothesline. He wasn’t ready!

But do you know who’s always read? Matt Cardona (19), who came in and eliminated Clayton. Cardona pulled Guildo into the ring and eliminated him, too. Mance Warner (20) entered last with Halloween party rejects and his fiancé Steph DeLander. The other Rascals were eliminated while Warner made his entrance. DeLander gave Warner a steel chair. Everyone just let Warner hit them with the steel chair until Cardona caught him from behind with a forearm.

Young tried to toss the Home Town Man, but he skinned the cat to stay alive. They fought out to the apron, and Young eliminated the Man with a low blow. Cardona took out Young, then tossed Warner as well.

This left Cardona alone with the Nemeths. The Nemeths double-teamed Cardona, who made his won comeback. Cardona tossed Ryan over the ropes but he stayed on the apron. Ryan held Cardona open for a superkick from Nic, but Cardona ducked and Ryan was eliminated BY HIS BIG BROTHER.

It looked like it was Matt v. Nic Nemeth to finish. DeLander and Mance Warner distracted Cardona, and Nic Nemeth dumped him over the top. The ring announcer then announced that Cardona was eliminated. I thought I had the rules wrong, but since Frankie Kazarian was never eliminated by Santino Marella, that meant Frankie Kazarian and Nic Nemeth were the final two.

Nic and Kazarian wrestled for a bit, and eventually both men did a double-pin after a superplex. Santino Marella then announced both men won, which elicited a huge “bullsh!t” chant from the crowd. They tried to do a comedy spot with both of them trying to hold onto the trophy, but the crowd just booed all of this.

What an absolute dumpster fire of a finish.  The crowd was right to boo this.

Kelani Jordan defeated Indi Hartwell to retain the TNA Knockouts World Championship (12:34)

It took four flights for Hartwell’s parents to get here to see her get an opportunity for the TNA Knockouts World Championship.

This was a very good babyface match to start, with both women going for near falls off cradles and dodging each other’s strikes early. Jordan hung up Hartwell in the ropes and came off with a legdrop for a near fall. Jordan hit Hartwell in the back with forearms and went for a suplex, but Hartwell escaped and caught Jordan with a spinebuster for a near fall. Hartwell hit Jordan with a boot for a near fall.

Hartwell stretched Jordan’s back across her knees, practically bending her in half. Jordan fought out and came out of the corner with a clothesline. They did “boo/yay” punches, with Hartwell getting the “yays!” Jordan hit a cartwheel back elbow. Hartwell went for a death valley driver, but Jordan escaped and hit a split jawbreaker for a near fall. Jordan locked in a half-crab, shoutout to Lance Storm! Hartwell eventually  kicked out of that to escape.

Jordan came off the top with a crossbody, but Hartwell rolled through a powered Jordan up. Jordan turned that into small package for two. Hartwell and Jordan struggled to figure out a powerbomb, but eventually Hartwell hit the move for a near fall. Hartwell went for a boot, but Jordan caught it and hit a spinning kick. Jordan hit a frog splash for a near fall. Jordan kept trying to get the pin off that, but Hartwell kept kicking out.

Hartwell dropped to the floor. Jordan tried to follow, but Hartwell tripped her up. Hartwell hit Jordan with a boot. Back in the ring, Hartwell hit a top rope elbow for a near fall. Hartwell went for the Hurts Donut, but Jordan countered with a cradle. Hartwell caught Jordan with a Hurts Donut out of nowhere, but Jordan was too close to the ropes and broke the count. Hartwell went to the top again, but Jordan followed her up.

Jordan tried for a Spanish Fly, but Hartwell elbowed her down. Hartwell went for another top rope elbow, but Jordan ducked. Jordan then hit Hartwell with a split-legged moonsault, and got the pinfall.

Yes, the flew Hartwell’s parents around the world to watch her lose.

After the match, Hartwell shook Jordan’s hand and then got consoled by her family on the loss.

I’m worried for Mike Santana now.

— The Nemeths and Frankie Kazarian were in the back arguing about who hasn’t been world champion and when they might call their shot.

The System defeated Order 4 in Hardcore War (19:25)

This is War Games without the cage or double ring, but with weapons.

Jason Hotch started out with a trash can against Eddie Edwards who came with his family, Wally the mascot of the Boston Red Sox,  and a kendo stick. Wally distracted Hotch by shaking his pelvis at him, allowing Edwards to hit Hotch with a dive to start the match. Hotch hit Edwards with a dropkick and went for a dive, but Edwards blocked that by throwing a trash can at his head. Edwards hit Hotch with chops that he sold like gunshots (cause they sounded like gunshots).

Jon Skyler was next with a steel chair,. Hotch hit Edwards with a spear and choked him with his t-shirt. The Great Hands hit Edwards with their finisher, the Favor (a combined blockbuster/Samoan drop). JDC came in next with a  Patriots helmet. Edwards put the steel chair over Skyler’s crotch, and JDC hit the chair with the football helmet. JDC followed the Great Hands out to the floor with a dive.

Skyler came up busted open, and JDC pulled a cheese grater out from under the ring and used it to work over the cut.

Tasha Steelz came in with a Yankees jersey and a bat for her weapon. Skyler was a bloody mess and fans in the front row was concerned. Alicia Edwards came out with her kendo stick. Edwards cracked Steelz in the head. Edwards tried to grab Alicia and caught a kendo stick in the bean.

Eddie Edwards pulled out a stable gun. He stapled Skyler in the face, JDC stapled Hotch in the crotch, and Alicia stapled Steelz in the derrière.

Agent Zero  was next for Order 4. He press-slammed JDC and tossed Eddie Edwards into the ringside stairs. Zero tossed the top half of the stairs at Eddie’s head. Zero is wrestling in tights and it’s roughly a 1000% improvement for his look. Brian Myers came out next, without a weapon. Zero didn’t have a weapon, either. Myers tried to use one of the trash cans around ringside, but Zero just put him dow with a boot. Zero dumped Myers with a hanging tree slam on the trash can.

Alicia rolled into the ring and found herself surrounded by Order 4 as Mustafa Ali was the last entrance for his team, brining a sledgehammer with him.

Eddie Edwards saved his wife momentarily from an attack from Order 4. The Great Hands and Ali dropkicked JDC in the corner. Moose entered last for his team, with a chain wrapped around him. The Great Hands came for Moose in the aisle way and he destroyed them. Ali tried to catch Moose with a dive, but he caught him and powerbombed him on the apron. Moose stood one-on-one with Agent Zero. After a pretty even standoff, Zero was able to dump Moose to the floor. All the members of Order 4 and the System brawled on the floor, and Zero came over the top rope with a dive onto everyone.

Back in the ring, Steelz pulled out a kendo stick wrapped in barb wire. Alicia Edwards dumped tacks in the ring. Alicia Edwards hit Steelz with the kendo stick to get rid of her. Alicia found herself alone in the ring… with Agent Zero, who gave her a hanging tree slam into the thumbtacks. JDC and Myers went after Zero with kendo sticks, and Moose rapped himself in the chain to spear Agent Zero.

Eddie tried to check on Alicia, but Ali hit him with a steel chair and dumped him. Ali dumped more thumbtacks on Alicia Edwards. Ali went for the 450, but Alicia rolled out of the way and Ali dove right into the tacks.

Eddie Edwards came back up and wrapped his knee in barbed wire. Edwards leveled Ali with a Boston Knee Party wrapped in barbed wire, and got the pinfall.

Leon Slater and Je’von Evans wrestled to a 20-minute time lime draw for the TNA X-Division Championship, which then became a non-finish (20:05)

The crowd was wild for this before they even touched, cheering and chanting “This is awesome!” Both guys teased big strikes against the other, than mocked their opponent for covering up in a panic. Slater caught Evans with a small package for a near fall, after about six counters and reversals. Evans used a go-behind to get some riding time, but Slater was quick to power up. Finally Slater shoved Evans hard when he was backed against the ropes, and things started to get less friendly.

Slater caught Evans with a chop, but Evans fired back. Evan sent Slater to the floor and followed him out with a tope. Slater shoved Evans off the ropes when he went for a springboard, then followed him out with a dive. Back in the ring, Slater hit a crossbody for two.

Slater hit deliberate chops on Evans to slow down the pace. Evans ducked a kick, caught Evans with a step-up springboard rana, and a dropkick. Evans caught Slater with an over the ropes plancha, then came back in the ring with a springboard clothesline on Slater for a near fall.

Evans hit a suplex and then immediately kipped up. Evans ducked an enziguri but Slater hit a heel kick on the rebound. Slater followed up with a springboard back elbow. Slater caught Evans with a flying boot for a near fall. Slater hit a slingshot cutter for a near fall. Evans went to the top, but Slater blocked it and they fought to the apron. Evans tried a suplex, but Slater escaped and tried for the slingshot cutter again, but this time Evans countered it into a spinning DDT that sent Slater across the ring. Evans then hit an out of the ring springboard cutter but smacked his tailbone against the ring apron and he probably hurt himself legit. Evans struggled to get to his feet. Slater slid in, and Evans came off the top with a splash. Evans then hit a second top rope splash from across the ring, but only got two.

Slater caught Evans with a boot, Evans responded with a forearm, and Slater hit another kick. Evans snatched Slater up with a rana and a cradle for near fall. Evans came off the ropes with a springboard right into a flying hangman’s neckbreaker from Slater.

Both men struggled to get to their feet, exchanging strikes along the way. Slater wore out Evans with chops. Slather left himself open for a chop from Evans, so Evans hit him with a cutter, then another springboard cutter, but Slater kicked out at two.

Evans went to the top, but Slater caught him with an enziguri and followed him up top. They fought and both guys jumped to the floor on opposite sides of the corner. Slater tried for a springboard off the barricade, but Evans shoved him into the crowd. Evans then hit a running dive over the barricade onto Slater in the crowd. Evans jumped the rail, and Slater followed hitting his own dive over the barricade as the bell rang to signify the time limit for the match had expired.

TNA has time limits?

Santino Marella came out and announced they would have five more minutes.

Slater hit Evans with Utopia, and Evans slid to the floor. Slater followed him with his over the post dive. Slater went to the top, but Evans jumped up and pulled Slater down with Spanish Fly. Evans went for the cover… and the lights went out. Dark State ran in and attacked both Slater and Evans. Dark State gave Slater and Evans double-team power bombs. The crowd chanted “F*ck these guys!” in an example of probably the wrong kind of heat. That’s a TV finish, not a pay-per-view finish. The extra time was maybe a minute.

To recap: they did a time limit draw to tease a non-finish, restart the match, and then delivered the non-finish anyway, but a worse version of it!

Chris Bey returned to TNA. Chris Bey announced that TNA has set a new attendance record of 7,794. I’m sure we’re all going to wait for the turnstyle count to verfiy that number.

The Hardys v. The Dudley Boys (Team 3D) to retain the NXT and TNA Tag Team Titles in One Final Table(s Match) (15:41)

Brother Runt (aka Spike Dudley) came out and gave Team 3D their Dudley glasses. The crowd chanted “ECW!” for the reunited Dudley Boyz. The Dudleys set some tables up in the aisle. The Hardys brought a ladder and a steel chair with them.  They set up a ladder in front of those tables. Uh-oh.

The Dudleys dumped Jeff to the floor and hit Matt with a 3D right away. Jeff tried to go at the Hardys 2-on-1. He tried for the Whisper in the Wind, but the Dudleys did their best impersonation of Samoa Joe and walked away from Jeff, and Jeff hit the mat. D-Von gave Jeff that “Wassup???” headbutt.  At Bubba’s direction, the crowd called for D-Von to get the tables. The Dudleys gave Jeff the 3D through the table, getting the Dudleys are halfway to winning the match.

Matt came back in with the steel chair. Matt was able to send Bubba to the floor on a miscommunication. Matt and D-Von brawled on the floor. On the floor D-Von took too long setting up a table, and Matt caught D-Von with the Twist of Fate. Matt set up D-Von for an elbow through the table, but D-Von got out of the way and Matt went though the table. But Matt isn’t eliminated since he wasn’t “put through” the table.

Jeff came back and took out Bubba Ray with a clothesline off the apron. D-Von dragged Jeff around the other side of the ring. Back in the ring, Bubba set up a table in the corner. Matt dodged a charge from Bully, who bounced into the table but didn’t break it.  Back to D-Von and Jeff, and D-Von hit Jeff with a table. D-Von climbed a ladder set up in the aisle way (to dive onto Jeff through a table), but Matt climbed up the other side of the ladder and cut him off. The Hardys set D-Von up on the table. Jeff hit a senton off the top of the ladder through the tables, but he came up a little short. His legs hit D-Von (which counted as D-Von going through the table) and I think he might have clipped the back of his head against the ladder, too. Most of Jeff’s body went through a table that D-Von wasn’t on.

This leaves Matt or Bubba as the last man to eliminate.

Back in the ring, The Hardys go after Bubba with steel chair shots. They set up another table. Jeff held open Bubba for a chair from Matt, but when Matt threw the chair Bubba ducked and he hit Jeff. Bubba tried to powerbomb Jeff through a table, but Matt moved it. The Hardys regained the advantage, and Jeff hit Bubba with a swanton bomb.

The Hardys hit Bubba with more chair shots. D-Von was done and Bubba was struggling to get to his feet. Bubba looked defeated; he knew he was done. The Hardy threw down their chairs, and Bubba offered no resistance as the Hardys grabbed him for a double-team uranage through one final table to end the match and the 25-year feud.

After the match, Carlos Silva presented the Hardys with their tag team title belts. The Hardys helped Bubba Ray to his feet, and eventually D-Von got back to the ring as well. The four men shared an embrace in the ring. The crowd chanted “Thank You Dudleys!” The Hardys were about to leave, but the Dudleys pulled them back into the ring. The Dudleys then took their wrestling boots off in the middle of the ring, signaling the end of their in-ring careers. The Dudleys then handed their boots to the Hardy Boys. Both teams embraced as the crowd cheered. The Dudleys walked off into the sunset one last time while the Hardys celebrated in the ring.

The match was what it was, but the post-match was tremeounds.

Mike Santana defeated Trick Williams to win the TNA World Championship (15:54)

Santana found Konnan while running around the crowd for his entrance. The crowd was insanely into both men’s entrances and the match had a big fight feel.

Williams grabbed the house mic from the ring announcer before she could announce his presence, then told Santana he would “beat his a$$ like the Boston Red Sox” and did his own ring announcement. Santana cut him off with a right hand and the match unofficially began with a brawl on the floor.

Santana and Williams fought into the crowd. Williams tried to use a trash can on Santana, but that backfired and he would up covered in trash. They brawled back to the ring area, and Santana dumped Williams onto the ring apron with a back suplex. Santana took a minute to celebrate with a fan, and this gave Williams the opening to hit Santana with the title belt.

Back in the ring, the referee started the match. Williams hit a Trick Kick and got a near fall. Williams followed that up with a death valley driver for another near fall. Williams dropped Santana with a flapjack. Williams hit a spin kick and a jumping neckbreaker for another near fall.

Williams hit Santana with a backhand, which only fired up Santana. But Santana charged at Williams and got backdropped to the floor. Back to the floor, Williams used a slingshot to send Santana into the ringpost headfirst. Santana came up bloody, and Williams slammed him on the floor. Williams tried to drive the steels stairs into Santana, but he got out of the way. Santana hit a superman forearm, but Williams backdropped Santana on the steel stairs.

On the floor, Williams whipped Santana into the ring barricade, then took Santana over to his daughter so she could watch him take a beating. Williams asked Santana’s daughter who her daddy was… and she slapped Trick! Stunned, Williams walked into a tope from Santana.

Back in the ring, Santana caught Williams with a powerbomb for a near fall. Santana went to the top again as the crowd did dueling chants for Santana and Williams. Santana hit a 450 splash for a near fall.

Trick’s lawyer came out to distract Santana. Santana went for his discus lariat, but Williams ducked it and hit a pair of uranages. Williams went to the top, but Santana caught him. Williams battled through and drove Santana to the mat with an avalanche uranage. But Williams only got a near fall.

Williams grabbed his title belt and went for a wild swing, but Santana ducked and rolled up Williams for two. After some more counters, Santana hit the discus lariat, but only got two. The lawyer got up on the apron again, and this time Santana pulled him in the ring and gave him a discus lariat. Williams caught Santana with a Trick Shot, but it only got two. Santana crawled up to his feet, looking at his daughter in the crowd. Williams charged in for another Trick Shot, but Santana ducked. Santana blocked another uranage, hit a flying lariat, and finally, finally, FINALLY hit the discus lariat and got the pinfall to bring the TNA World title home to TNA.

As Carlos Silva is walking in to award the belt to Santana, Nic Nemeth came out to cash in his stupid title shot. But the lights dropped. When they came back up, Elias was behind Nemeth, and he took him out with a chair shot. Frankie Kazarian came in to also try and cash in, but he could’t since he didn’t have the trophy. So Santana took him out with a lariat. Santana got to hand the TNA World title to his daughter and celebrate in the ring with her. None of that nonsense with Nemeth and Kazarian was necessary.

Mike Santana is the first TNA World Champion of Puerto Rican heritage.

There was some abosultely head-scratching booking decisions here. I actually thought the Guantlet match was kind of fun until the ridiculous finish (which the crowd hated), and also thought the X-Division title match was good until we got two non-finishes in less than five minutes (which the crowd also hated). But they stuck the landing with the emotional TNA World title change and the retirement of the Dudley Boys.

This is it, friends! It’s all over but the shouting as NXT takes on TNA in what is totally not an invasion, it’s a SHOWDOWN!

With two massive elimination matches, a winner-take-all tag title bout and a defence of the NXT North American Title, it promises to be quite the Showdown indeed. And what’s on the line when these two companies clash, you ask? Why the ultimate prize in professional wrestling:

BRAND SUPREMACY!

-The Men’s Team NXT and Team TNA were shown arriving to work, all at the same time (presumably carpooling) and the Women’s Teams were shown preparing as well.

NXT Tag Team Champions DarkState vs TNA Tag Team Champions The Hardys

The tag team Champions vs Champions, Title-For-Title, Winner-Take-All match led off the show with the Hardys entering to a massive ovation while the Dudley Boys watched from the crowd alongside TNA President Carlos Silva. The Hardys set a hardcore tone off the top by wearing all white after Labor Day

Darkstate arrived in full force though, with all four members coming to ringside and jumping the Hardys before the match could even begin. The Hardys cleared the ring, but were still surrounded by DarkState until the Ref sent Cutler James and Saquon Shugars to the back, leaving Dion Lennox and Osiris Griffin

The Hardy’s kicked off the match with an exctended double team on Lennox before separating and leaving Jeff and Griffin to face off. Griffin used his size to control Jeff who tagged in Matt. Osiris hoisted him up, but tagged in Lennox. Matt went for a Twist of Fate, but didn’t realize that Lennox was now legal, so Lennox was able to knock him to the mat.

The Hardys fought back with Jeff taking on both Lennox and Griffin for a few moments before stepping on the gas with Lennox and dropkicking him. Jeff went for a Twist of Fate, but Lennox picked him up and put him on the ring apron (The Hardiest part of the ring!) where he and Griffin went high/low on him.

DarkState isolated Jeff in their corner and dropped some double teams on him before Lennox put a headlock on in the middle of the ring. Jeff tried to power out, but Lennox pounded him and hit a standing crossbody. Jeff tried for a tag, but Griffin cut him off.

Lennox came in for a double team and hit an absolutely nasty DDT on Jeff. Griffin begged off and Lennox continued the assault solo. The Dudleys continued to watch, much like us all.

Griffin tagged in and he and Lennox traded shots on Jeff in the corner. But, Jeff scrambled up the ropes and hit a spinning senton from the top turnbuckle on both members of Darkstate. That gave him the chance to get the hot tag to Matt who hit a DDT of his own on Griffin. He then pounded Lennox’ face into the turnbuckle while the crowd chanted Delete.

Matt hit a Plot Twist on Lennox, but Griffin broke up the pin at two. They hit a double slam on Matt, but Jeff broke that up at two. Osiris got Matt up on his shoulders while Lennox climbed the ringpost for a Doomsday Device, but Matt countered and hit a twist of fate on Lennox, then one on Griffin before taggin in Jeff.

Jeff hit a picture perfect Swanton Bomb on Lennox and pinned him 1-2-3 to retain the TNA Tag Titles and win the NXT Tag Titles!

Match Result: The Hardys defeated Dark State

Absolute banger of an opening match! Darkstate is always a powerhouse and the Hardy’s are somehow getting better with age. Loved it!

Women’s Elimination Match: Team NXT (Jacy Jayne, Sol Ruca, Jaida Parker & Lola Vice) vs. Team TNA (Kelani Jordan, Mara Sade and The IInspiration – Jess McKay and Cassie Lee)

Between the NXT Women’s Champion (Jayne) the Women’s North American and Speed Champion (Ruca), the TNA Knockouts Champion (Jordan) and the TNA Women’s Tag Champions (Lee & McKay), there is a literal ton of gold in this match. Also, on a personal note, I could not be more excited to see Lee and McKay back in an NXT ring. I miss that iconic twosome.

Special guesrt referee Jordynne Grace was shown in the ring as Team TNA made their way to the ring. This also prompted the first “Shucky ducky, quack quack” of the evening from Booker T. Vice led the intros for Team NXT and once everyone had arrived the match was set.

Jayne and Jordan kicked things off with Jordan getting the upper hand with a quick pin attempt. Jayne tried one of her own and the two wrestled around until Jordan shoved Jayne who bounced off the ropes and caught a blind tag from Vice.

Jayne reluctantly ceded the ring to Vice who was met by Lee and McKay who took her down and posed, iconically. Mckay stayed legal long enough to tag in Sade who dropkicked Vice. Vice responded with a waistlock, dragging her to the NXT corner for a tag and double team with Parker.

Sade fought back though and she and Parker traded blows in the middle of the ring. Lee made an iconic run in and all 8 women started brawling while Grace tried to regain control. The IInspiraiton ate a dive on the outsdie from Jayne, but Sade followed her out and Jordan went up top for a splash on the outside before Ruca flipped over the top rope and took everyone out.

Grace seemed all right to let the fight move to the outside, but was ready when Parker and Sade went back into the ring, making them legal I suppose. Parker hit a swinging neckbreaker on Sade after getting a yellow and red card from Grace.

Ruca tagged in and hit a superkick on Sade. She got her up in a stalling, stalling, stalling suplex and then flipped into a pin for two. Ruca tagged in Parker and Team NXT took turns taking shots at Sade in their corner.

Sade flipped it though, pulling Ruca back to the TNA corner where McKay and Lee tried to double team her, but she hit a double dropkick instead. Lee stayed legal and Ruca held her back until she got a blind tag crom McKay who joined Lee in double teaming Ruca.

McKay took shots at Ruca while a wave broke out in the crowd. Sade tagged back in and slowed the pace down, nailing Ruca with a knee to the back of the head. McKay and Lee tagged back in and tried a double flapjack, but Ruca reversed it into a double DDT.

Hot tags were made in both corners and Jordan charged Jayne who cleared the ring with a bunch of stiff shots. She hit a cannonball in the corner on Jordan and followed it up with a top rope senton. Jordan hit a cutter on Jayne which brought in Parker who hit a blockbuster on Sade then drove Lee into the corner with her shoulder.

Parker set Lee and McKay up in the corner and drop slammed them both. Sade hit a reverse x-factor on Parker though and went up top for a moonsault that missed Parker by about a foot. Parker hit a falcon arrow and got a pin, but Jordan broke it up and a brawl broke out.

In the confusion, Sade grabbed Parker from behind and pinned her for the first elimination. Ruca followed that with a blockbuster on Sade, eliminating her and evening the odds again. Jayne tagged in for an extended period, taking offense from all three remaining members of Team TNA in succession, but kicking out of any pin attempts.

Grace continued calling the match down the middle as Jayne put a fist into Mckay’s stomach and made a hot tag to Vice. Vice cleared house with kicks, putting McKay in one corner and Jordan in the other to deliver repeated butt-based blows.

Lee tagged in and Vice caught her with a back fist and a pin to eliminate her. Vice then grabbed McKay in a back submission hold and she tapped, leaving Jordan as the only member of Team TNA remaining.

The IInspiration caused a distraction on the outside on their way out, drawing Grace away from the match which caused her to miss Jordan pinning Jayne. Jayne sent Jordan to the outside and kicked her in the face, seemingly injuring her ankle.

Vice tagged in but collided with Jayne. Jordan grabbed Vice in an angle slam and got the pin to eliminate her, leaving Ruca and Jayne as the last members of Team NXT. This was all so chaotic, even the ring announcer was confused.

Jordan and Ruca battled in the ring, with Jordan hitting a facebuster on Ruca for a two count. Jordan went up top, but Ruca followed and the Jordan hit a spanish fly before trying a 450. She missed as Ruca got the knees up. Ruca hit a soulsnatcher on Jordan but Jayne tagged herself in and made the pin to give the victory to team NXT.

Match Result: Team NXT defeated Team TNA

Whew! Normally, I don’t really go for these elimination matches, but this one was a ton of fun. Everyone got a moment to shine and the muddiness that these matches can sometimes have was nowhere to be found. Also, I’ll say it right now for those in the back: Jacy Jayne is destined to be a superstar.

-Backstage, Matt Cardona was talking to NXT GM, Ava. He was looking for a spot on Team TNA and was asking Ava for some reason, but was interrupted by Josh Briggs who demanded a match against Cardona next week to pay him back for interfering in his match last week. Ava said she would work it out with Santino.

NXT North American Champion Ethan Page vs Mustafa Ali

Ali is a fantastic performer who’s run in WWE just never seemed to work out. It’s pretty exciting to see him back in an NXT ring and facing off against Page, the greatest Canadian alive (I’m legally bound to say that).

With the intros out of the way, Page and Ali locked up with Page sending Ali to the corner. Ali, who looks absolutely jacked these days, shoved him out of the corner and the two started trading wristlocks. The two put on a technical clinic for a few moments with Ali coming out on top with a cutter and a standing moonsault.

Ali dragged Page out of the ring and began slamming his hand against the apron. Page got a back elbow on Ali and then yelled at the commentary team. Ali hit a spinning DDT on page on the outside and threw him back into the ring.

Ali started going up top, but Page tripped him and wrapped his leg around the ringpost. Ali fell to the outside, writhing in pain. The ref checked on him and Page pulled him up to knock him down with a forearm shot before tossing Ali back into the ring for a big elbow drop or three.

Page tried to slow things down with a headlock, but Ali powered out of it. Page hit a Confidence Breaker, but only got a two count. He put Ali in a chinlock, working the tweaked neck. Ali fought out of it though and went to answer back but Page turned him over with a lariat.

They ended up on the top turnbuckle and Page tried for a superplex. Ali knocked him off and when Page tried again, he hit a sunset powerbomb from the top rope. He went up top again, but Page hit the ropes, knocking him onto the turnbuckle. Page went for a backbreaker over the turnbuckle, but Ali blocked it, so Page settled for snakeyes on the turnbuckle and superkick for a two count.

Ali collapsed after kicking out of the pin and Page started talking trash. Ali hit a dropkick and dodged a couple of charges from Page. PAge got a knockout blow sending Ali into the corner for another two-count.

Page went for the Ego’s Edge, but Ali wormed out of it and clapped his ears. Ali hit a tornado DDT out of the corner, but Page kicked out at two. Ali dragged Page to the corner and went up top for a 450. Page got out of the way though and delivered a kick to Ali’s head.

Page tried for the Ego’s Edge again, but Ali countered with a hurricanrana. Ali ducked two clotheslines and went springboard, but Page caught him and went for a twisted grin. Ali wormed out though and the tow remained at a stalemate.

Ali sent Page out with a headscissor and then dove through the ropes onto him, knocking Page over the announce table. Ali pulled Page back into the ring and went up top, but his foot was tangled in the mic cord. While he tried to get it off, Page shoved Ali off the top rope all the way to the barricade.

Page tossed Ali back into the ring and hit a twisted grin to get the pin and retain the NXT North American Championship.

Match Result: Ethan Page defeated Mustafa Ali

What an incredible match! That could be a match of the year contender for NXT. Page and Ali put on a back and forth clinic that should be studied. There was no point where I was able to tell who was going to win and it came down to bad luck for Ali. Killer match heading into the main event!

-In the back Hijo del Dr Wagner jr was interviewed about his issues with Ethan Page. They were interrupted by Lexis King who accused him of being Tavion Heights. Wagner left and Heights appeared behind King, shaking his head.

-After a break, the women’s Team NXT was shown celebrating in the back and by celebrating, I mean they looked at each other and went “oh yeah, we all hate each other” and parted ways. Ruca was left and approached by Zariah and Blake Monroe. Monroe said that their friendship wouldn’t last and that she was coming for one of Ruca’s titles.

Men’s Elimination Match: Team NXT (Ricky Saints, Trick Williams, Myles Borne & Je’Von Evans) vs Team TNA (Mike Santana, Frankie Kazarian, Moose & Leon Slater)

The Main Event of the evening looked so good on paper that I was able to stop asking myself “why is the TNA champion on team NXT?” and just enjoy these 8 men at the top of their game beat the hell out of each other. Joe Hendry acted as the special referee for this match and earlier in the evening was shown talking to both teams.

Team TNA entered first with Kazarian and Moose getting big cheers as they came through the crowd. After a break, Team NXT arrived with Evans and Borne coming out first, followed by Williams and finally Saints.

Evans and Slater kicked things off with a battle of the bouncy. However, before they could do anything, Kazarian and Williams blind tagged in and started brawling. Borne tagged in and hit an atomic drop and neckbreaker on Kazarian. Kazarian then pushed Borne into hit team’s corner where they started wailing on him. That brought in Team NXT and a full brawl commenced.

When the dust settled, Kazarian and Borne continued in the ring, with Moose trying to cause a distraction and missing. Kazarian hit a modified fame-ass-er and then a cutter to pin Borne and get the early elimination.

Both teams retreated to their corners as a disbeliving Borne headed to the back. Saints stared daggers at Santana and they started fighting with Santana hitting a headscissor, but missing with a charge to the corner. Saints put him down and tagged in Evans who went with strikes to soften up Santana.

Santana reversed it into a backdrop though followed by spinning Evans around with a backhanded chop. He set up Evans in the TNA corner and chopped him again before Moose tagged in. Moose jersey’d Evans (Canadians will get it) and hit a big dropkick before dragging him to the TNA corner and a waiting Kazarian.

Kazarian sent Evans into the opposite corner and slammed him. He followed that with a springboard leg drop, but Evans kicked out at two. Evans tried to battle back, but Kazarian went for a pin using the ropes. Hendry saw it though and called off the pin.

Williams tagged in and went to chokeslam Slater who got out of it and delivered a high kick. Williams caught Slater on the charge and slammed him, followed by a big kick. Williams slowed the pace and set up Slater in the corner for some chops. Slater ducked the third one and hit a Lethal Injection-style cutter.

Santana tagged in to face Saints and dropped him with a cutter. Williams stood up and he and Santana had a staredown ahead of their upcoming match at Bound For Glory. Williams tagged in Evans and Evans cleared the ring and began bouncing around with X-Division Champion Slater.

Evans started diving over the ropes onto each member of Team TNA. Unfortunately, when he got to Moose, Moose caught Evans in midair. Evans got out of it though and headed back into the ring where Slater was waiting and rolled him up for a three count. With Evans eliminated, Team NXT was down to two;. Williams and Saints.

Slater and Kazarian double teamed Williams with Kazarian making the pin attempt. Williams kicked out and Kazarian bounced Williams’ head off of Moose’s foot. Moose tagged Slater in and Team TNA started working William’s ankle. Slater hit a crossbody and delivered some punches before tagging in Kazarian.

Willams began fighting back, but Kazarian put him back down with a high kick. He began stomping Williams and hanging him up on the ropes. Moose tagged in and charged, but Williams dodged it. He want for a tag to Saints, but Kazarian pulled him off the ring apron. Moose took advantage, but Williams hit a back cutter. Saints got back up on the ring and tagged himself in to face Slater.

Saints hit a Falcon Arrow, but Slater kicked out at two. Saints went off the ropes, but Kazarian hit him in the back, giving Slater a chance to hit his Utopia slam. Saints went to tag in Williams, but but Williams hopped off the apron, refusing the tag. Williams wandered away from the ring as Kazarian took out Saints.

Williams walked to the back, leaving Saints to fend for himself against all four members of Team TNA. Kazarian put on a rear naked choke and tried to transition to a crossface, but Saints rolled it over and pinned him to get the first elimination for Team NXT.

Slater dove in to try and finish Saints off, but Saints kicked out. Slater set him up in the corner and charged, knocking him down. He went up top for a swanton, but Saints got his knees up, and turned Slater over for a pin and second elimination.

Moose took his turn next, sending Saints to the outside. Santana threw him back into for a slam and a senton from the TNA veteran. Saints kicked out at two, much to Moose’s surprise. Moose went for a powerbomb, but Saints reversed it into a DDT. He went for the pin, but Santana broke it up.

Santana started throwing hands at Saints, sending him staggering to the corner. He chopped Saints then hit a big slam, but Saints kicked out again. Santana went for a powerbomb but Saints flipped out of it a delivered a superkick.

Moose went for a spear, but Saints dodged it and hit Santana. Santana shoved Saints into Moose who hit a powerbomb and then Santana follwed up with a big slam to get the pin and eliminate the NXT Champion.

Match Result: Team TNA defeated Team NXT

-After the match, Santino and Ava were seen talking in the back. The GM’s congratulated each other and Ava asked Santino to bring the Knockouts division to NXT next week for a Battle Royal to determine the number one contender for the NXT Women’s Title.

Man, that was a good night of wrestling. The Men’s Elimination match was a little bit slower than the Women’s, but PPV quality stuff from all four matches on the card. TNA and NXT are a great fit and there’s some great stuff teased for next week!

TNA Impact live results: Knockouts Tag Team title match

Taped in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Tom Hannifan & Matthew Rehwoldt were on commentary.

— In the parking lot, Santino Marella told Mike Santana that he and Trick Williams are forbidden from touching each other outside of a sanctioned wrestling match.

Frankie Kazarian gives “The King’s Speech.” Kazarian demanded a congratulatory standing ovation from the crowd in recognition of his victory for the TNA International Title at Victory Road. Kazarian ran down all the babyface champions in TNA, but praised the World Champion Trick Williams. The crowd lost interest in what Kazarian was saying when he mentioned Williams and started chanting “Whoop that trick!” Kazarian brought out new TNA Knockouts World Champion Kelani Jordan, who will captain the TNA Women’s team at Showdown against the NXT Women’s team. The crowd chanted “NXT!” for Jordan, and Kazarian told her that all the other Knockouts thought that Jordan was a fluke. Jordan responded with the standard “résumé promo” where she listed off her accomplishments.  Kazarian said that the only reason Trick Williams is the champion is because he beat Joe Hendry, and not him.

Of course, this brought out Trick Williams, who called himself an “emperor” if Frankie Kazarian is a king. Williams called Kazarian “second rate,” reminded everyone he was carrying two brands. He was responsible for all the attention TNA was getting, not deadbeats like the Hardys. This brought out Matt Hardy (not Jeff), who called out the guys in the ring for trying to make themselves look bigger by running down TNA. Matt Hardy said “TNA will not die!” Kazarian finally pointed out the elephant in the room, asking where Jeff was? “Oh that’s right! He’s not allowed in this country!” X-Division Champion Leon Slater came out to defend Jeff.

Remember Kelani Jordan? She was still standing there and decided to call out Indi Hartwell because this segment is just off the rails. Indi came out and said she had the support of the fans and the locker room to fulfill her dream of being TNA Knockouts World Champion. Everyone started talking over each other until Santino came out to force me to start another paragraph.

“Take it easy!” Marella accused them of being like high school children (accurate). But, since he needs a match for tonight, he makes a six person tag match with everyone involved in this opening segment, and he also put Mike Santana on commentary for the match as well.

Matt Hardy, Leon Slater, & Indi Hartwell defeated Trick Williams, Frankie Kazarian & Kelani Jordan  (12:57 aired)

If Mike Santana interferes or gets physical with Trick Williams, the TNA World title match at bound for Glory is off.

Jordan and Hartwell started by exchanging pin attempts. Hardy and Kazarian got tags and Hardy worked over Kazarian’s arm. Slater got the tag and reigned down fists on Kazarian’s head in the corner, then monkey-flipped Kazarian across the ring. Jordan and Hartwell tagged back. Jordan hit a lung blower and got a near fall with a crossbody. Jordan worked a body-scissors and got a couple of near falls off of that while Santana was on commentary refuting the idea that WWE and NXT were running TNA. Williams got the tag against Slater and tripped him up into the ropes, and Kazarian dropped a leg to guillotine Slater against the middle rope.

Williams worked over Slater with a full nelson. Williams and Kazarian tried to encourage Jordan to sucker-punch Slater, but she wouldn’t do it. Kazarian hit a nice suplex on Slater for a near fall. Williams got the tag and worked over Slater in the corner with chops. Williams hit a hangman’s neckbreaker for a near fall, then wore Slater down with a front face lock.

Williams held Slater open for a cheap shot from Jordan, who wouldn’t do it. So Kazarian went for the cheap shot and Slater ducked. Hardy got the tag for his team and deleted Williams’ head into the turnbuckles. Hardy hit a Side Effect for a near fall. Hardy went for the Twist of Fate on Williams, but Kazarian ran in, so Hardy caught him and DDT both Kazarian and Williams. Hardy hit a Twist of Fate on Williams for a near fall. Kazarian tried for the chicken wing on Hardy, but he escaped and tagged in Slater. Hartwell tagged in and hit Kazarian with an elbow off the top rope. Hardy pulled Williams out of the ring, and Williams got into Mike Santana’s face. Hardy whipped Kazarian into Williams, who collided with Santana. Since Santana didn’t initiate the contact, he was free to beat up on Williams, which he did. Back in the ring, Slater hit Kazarian with a Swanton 450 to get the pinfall.

After the match, Santana held up the TNA World Championship before dropping it on a prone Trick Williams. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a “no touching or else” stipulation blown off so quickly.

— Tommy Dreamer cut a promo to fire up the TNA troops. This looked like it was taped at the end of the tv taping.

The TNA Injury Report:

  • Gia Miller was attacked by Tessa Blanchard in the parking lot, but she has been cleared for interviewing duties.
  • Ash by Elegance is out, with no details on her injury.
  • Everyone in the Knockouts Tag Team Title match later tonight have been cleared.

— Recap of NXT from Tuesday and more build for NXT/TNA Showdown.

Angel Warriors (Xia Brookside & Léi Yîng Lee) defeated Kat Von Hees and Ava Lawless (4:04)

Brookside got caught with a backpack stunner for a near fall. Lee got the tag and took down the much larger Heez with a dropkick. Brookside hit Lawless with a Codebreaker, and then assisted Lee with a senton off the middle rope (called “Heaven Sent”) to get the pinfall.

— Joe Hendry was in the stairwell crowing about his victory over Eric Young, but Santino interrupted and told Hendry he was in a no-disqualification match with Young next week.

Road to Glory, Part 2. This was another hype video for Mike Santana on his quest to win the TNA World Title. Santana sat in a chair in an empty ring while Amazing Red cut a really good promo, first talking about the early days of TNA when Amazing Red and Homicide took TNA by storm. They opened doors for guys like Mike Santana, who let someone come into TNA and disrespect them by taking the championship from TNA. Santana invited Red and Homicide to watch him win the title at Slammiversary, but they only saw disappointment. Santana can make everything right by winning the title at Bound for Glory. They are doing a really good job making Santana into a big deal here, but I fear that the NXT Showdown is taking away from some of the build for Bound for Glory.

Nic Nemeth (w/ Ryan Nemeth in a Home Town Mask) defeated The Home Town Man (4:15)

Ryan distracted the Home Town Man, but Home Town Man still got he advantage. Home Town Man hit a TKO out of an airplane spin for a near fall. Ryan tripped up Home Town Man to set him up for a hangman’s neckbreaker from his brother. An elbow drop got Nic a near fall. Nic distracted the ref so Ryan could choke out the Home Town Man against the rope. Nic locked in a sleeper and a body scissors. Home Town Man came back with a series of clotheslines and a slam. Home Town elbow drop was followed up with the Home Town Slice, but Ryan put Nic’s foot on the rope to break up the pin attempt. The Home Town Man hit Ryan with a dive on the floor, then got his mask back from Ryan. But when eh got back in the ring, Nic hit him with a superkick and the Danger Zone to get the pinfall.

After the match, the Nemeths put the boots to the Home Town Man, but Matt Cardona ran in to make the same. Cardona was soon overwhelmed by the Nemeths as well.

— In the back, Gia Miller cut a promo about Tessa Blanchard. Miller was jumped by Blanchard from behind, after Victory Road. Now, Miller will face Blanchard in a match at Bound for Glory. Miller may not be a wrestler but she will still be Blanchard within an inch of her life. This doesn’t feel like the best use of Blanchard.

Tasha Steelz (w/ Order 4) defeated Alicia Edwards (w/ The System) (4:19)

One of the Great Hands tripped up Edwards to allow Steelz to get the upper hand. Steelz get a near fall off a place kick. Edwards came back with a pair of clotheslines. Edwards splashed Steelz in the corner for a near fall. Steelz came back with a Falcon Arrow for a near fall of her own. Edwards blocked a cutter but got hit with a superkick for two. Steelz gave a signal of the members of Order 4, who started arguing with the members of the System. The ref dropped to the floor to deal with that, allowing Ali to slip Steelz a kendo stick. Edwards got the kendo stick, nailed Steelz, and hit an inverted pedigree to get the pinfall. Steelz jumped Edwards after the pinfall, but the System stood Order 4 down.

— Tessa Blanchard gave some more of the backstory for her match with Gia Miller. Blanchard got Miller into Highspots with her trainer George South, but Miller wasn’t cut out for it. So she went to Mike Jackson’s school, someone who was nothing but a jobber. Blanchard is scared for what she’s going to do to Miller at Bound for Glory. Blanchard thinks that Miller should just pack up and move on.

The IInspiration defeated M and Heather by Elegance (w/ the Concierge) to win the TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Championship (14:05)

M and Heather are dressed like race cars or something. The Brand has really taken a hit with Ash gone, and she’s not even been gone for a week!

The IInspiration dominated the early going. Cassie Lee caught Cassie Lee in the corner to take control. M got a near fall after a vertical suplex. M hipped Lee into the corners while the crowd chanted for the IInspiration. Heather stomped on Lee in the corner. Lee dropped to the floor, and Heather followed to ram her head into the ring apron. Back in the ring, Heather got a near fall.

Heather missed an elbow drop, allowing Lee to get the tag to Jessie McKay. McKay caught Heather with a running knee in the corner. M tripped up McKay, allowing the Elegance Brand to double-team her in the corner.

McKay dove for the tag, but M pulled Lee to the floor to keep McKay in the ring. M hit a pump kick for a near fall. M wore down McKay with a surfboard. McKay powered out of the surfboard and hit M with a back elbow.

Lee got the tag and took it to both members of the Elegance Brand. Lee hit a lung blower on Heather for a near fall. M broke up a suplex attempt from Lee. Lee hit Heather with a Blue Thunder Bomb for a near fall. The Concierge distracted the ref and they argued for like what seemed like forever. A rake of the eyes set up Lee for a superkick from M (who was standing on the apron while Lee was in the ring). A DDT from Heather got another near fall.

The Concierge gave Heather some champagne. Heather went to the throw champagne at Lee, but she ducked and Heather blinded M with the champagne by mistake. Lee and McKay took out M with the Idolizer, and Lee got the pinfall. The IInspiration are now two-time Knockouts Tag Team Champions.

WWE changing name of upcoming NXT vs. TNA TV episode

Image: WWE

Next Tuesday’s WWE NXT vs. TNA themed show on The CW is no longer named Invasion and will now go by Showdown, according to WrestleVotes.

The reason was backlash to the name that emerged from Israeli fans due to the date: October 7 which is the second anniversary of the Hamas attacks in southern Israel that killed 1200 people and began the current war in Gaza. Some also reportedly took umbrage with the logo used: a red letter V as it “unintentionally resembles the downward-facing red triangle used as a Hamas symbol.”

The name and logo were the same used during the WWE vs. WCW pay-per-view Invasion from 2001. References to the old name have disappeared from both the WWE and TNA websites with social media posts using the name also having disappeared. As of this writing, the show is being referred to as “next week’s special event.”

Next Tuesday will feature wrestlers from NXT and TNA going head-to-head as part of an angle that has been playing out for several weeks.

WOL: The All Out angle that should have been on AEW Dynamite

Image: AEW

Hindsight is 20/20 and on Sunday’s Wrestling Observer Live, guest host Josh Nason thinks he has clear vision.

One thing that stuck out to him was a big angle that took place at last Saturday’s AEW All Out that, given how the week played out, should have been at AEW Dynamite instead.

He also looks at the happenings from Saturday’s AEW Collision and the sudden glut of mid-card wrestlers all returning from injury and the constant battle for room on TV.

Of course, Josh delves into the weekend that was for both TNA and NXT who are inescapably linked for better or for worse.

He also talks about an unforced error on social media, his thoughts on The Rock’s new Smashing Machine movie, a preview of this week, and more.

TNA Victory Road live results: Three title matches

TNA Wrestling heads north of the border to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, for tonight’s Victory Road streaming special.

The show won’t feature either a TNA World or Knockouts title match as Trick Williams isn’t scheduled and Masha Slamovich was pulled to allegations of domestic abuse.

In one title match, X-Division Champion Leon Slater will defend against Myron Reed of The Rascalz while TNA International Champion Steve Maclin defends against Frankie Kazarian in a grudge match.

In a TNA vs. NXT bout, Mike Santana takes on Ridge Holland.

In the night’s third title bout, Knockouts Tag Team Champions Heather by Elegance and M by Elegance defend against The IInspiration’s Cassie Lee and Jessica McKay.

Knockouts Champion Ash by Elegance will be on the show for an announcement.

In a match to determine the order of entry advantage for Hardcore War at Bound for Glory, Moose takes on Mustafa Ali.

In a clash of former World Champions, Joe Hendry meets Eric Young while former TNA Tag Team Champions Nic Nemeth & Ryan Nemeth take on The Home Town Man & Matt Cardona.

The pre-show will feature Cedric Alexander vs. Trey Miguel vs. Zachary Wentz in a three-way while Matt Hardy talks to AJ Francis in an interview segment.

**********

Live! From Edmonton —deep breath— Alberta, Canada.

Pre-Show.

Tom Hannifan & Matthew Rehwoldt are on commentary for the last live TNA+ special the road to Bound for Glory.

Zachary Wentz pinned Cedric Alexander in a Triple Threat match which included Trey Miguel (7:51)

Miguel knocked his partner out of the match immediately with a superkick, making the match one-on-one for a minute between Miguel and Alexander. Wentz paid him back by setting up a double-team with Miguel but turning it into a flipping DDT on Miguel instead. Everyone takes turns hitting running dives on the floor on each other, until Wentz cuts Miguel’s last dive off with a cutter. Alexander starts German suplexing fools like he’s Brock Lesnar without the sordid legal background. Alexander suplexed them both individually and then both at the same time. Miguel and Wentz each hit a slingblade on Alexander, then went to slingblade each other, knocking themselves out. Wentz hit a rolling cutter on Miguel and then used the momentum to hit Miguel with a knee for a near fall. Alexander dropped Wentz with a Michinoku Driver for a near fall. Miguel tied up Alexander’s legs, took out Wentz with a Lightning Spiral, and then rolled Alexander into a Muta Lock. Wentz broke that up with a swanton. Wentz hit a cutter on Alexander and got the pinfall.

— Gia Miller interviewed International Champion Steve Maclin, who will fight for all the Marines that have had to deal with the disrespect like Frankie Kazarian has given him.  When he was done, El Mesías of AAA came out of nowhere to stare the TNA International Champion down.

AJ Francis’ First Class Penthouse. Francis wore a Houston Texans jacket to try and rub it in to the Edmonton crowd because they don’t have any professional sports franchises. But let’s be honest, calling the Houston Texans a professional franchise is a stretch. Francis screamed a lot and said nothing while the crowd chanted obscenities. Francis took off his jersey to reveal a Florida Panthers t-shirt to rub in how Edmonton lost the Stanley Cup to them twice. Francis tried to have the production team play music from his new album (debuting on streaming platforms everywhere Tuesday), but Matt Hardy’s music played instead. Francis ran down Hardy because he believed that First Class belongs in the Tag Team Title match at Bound for Glory. Hardy responded with the list of all the things the Hardys and Dudleys have done to reinvent tag team wrestling. This lead to a brawl. Francis hit a boot and chokeslammed Hardy though a table in the ring. Hardy v. Francis might be added to the show.

The System. The System with the returning JDC came out. Eddie Edwards took the mic and issued a challenge to Order 4 for tonight. Santino Marella came out and made the Matt Hardy v. AJ Francis match (pending Hardy getting cleared by the medical professionals) as well as Order 4 v. The System, which will open the show!

Victory Road! The Main Show!

The System (Eddie Edwards, Brian Myers, JDC) defeated Order 4 (Jason Hotch, John Skyler, Agent Zero) (4:32)

This is Agent Zero’s in-ring debut. He wrestles in a suit pants and a dress shirt with the sleeves cut off. He still doesn’t look big enough for this role. He did have a sharp short-arm powerslam though. Order 4 worked over Edwards in their corner. JDC eventually go the tag and took it to both members of the Great Hands. JDC hit a falcon arrow on Hodge for a near fall. Zero tried to run in but got clotheslined to the floor. JDC hit a top rope legdrop on Skyler and got the pinfall. Short and inoffensive.

Ash by Elegance Vacates the TNA Knockouts Championship. Ash was announced as both a TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champion and the TNA Knockouts World Champion. Marella and TNA president Carlos Silva. Ash announced that she is no longer able to compete and is giving up the TNA Knockouts Title. Ash thanked the crowd for their support and expressed confidence in the women in the Knockouts Locker Room to elevate the TNA Knockouts Title as she would have. Ash received a standing ovation from the crowd as she left the ring, and left the title in the ring. Marella then announced the TNA Knockouts Tag Title match will be moved to this Thursday to make room for a TNA Knockouts Battle Royal, where the last two women in the ring will fight it out for the TNA Knockouts Championship.

Lei Ying Lee and Kelani Jordan survived a Battle Royal to qualify for a match for the vacant TNA Knockouts Championship (4:45)

It’s battle royal rules, but the last two women remaining will fight it out in a singles match for the title later in the show. Indi Hartwell will be the guest referee for the title match as planned, so she is not in this match.

There were only 10 women in the battle royal. A The IInspiration and Heather & M got into it to start. The Conceigere guy jumped into the ring to try and help the Elegance Brand by throwing a woman that even the commentators couldn’t identify to the wolves. I believe it was Lili “La Pescadita” Ruiz. Anyway, the IInspiration tossed her to the floor. That was an ignonimous TNA debut. Jody Threat was clotheslined out of the match by Dani Luna. Luna also eliminated Xia Brookside. Everyone ganged up on Luna to eliminate her. The IInspriation and The Elegance Brand teased eliminating each other until Lei Yǐng Lee and Kelani Jordan dumped all four of them. This left Jordan and Lee as the two finalists for the title match later in the show.  This wasn’t much but I can’t blame TNA for their whole Knockouts title picture completely blowing up on them over the past 48 hours.

Matt Cardona & The Home Town Man (w/ Buzz, the Mascot of the Edmonton Stingers) defeated The Nemeth Brothers (6:27)

Ryan won (or lost, I don’t know) the paper-rock-scissors contest and had to start the match with Cardona. I wonder if that’s a work or a shoot. Cardona got a near fall on Ryan with a flapjack. The fans chanted “Chelsea’s Husband!” for Cardona. The crowd was also into the Home Town Man, which I guess makes sense since he’s from Edmonton. Although he’s also been from Phoenix. And Minnesota… is this a deal like Ted DiBiase’s seasonal residences?

Joe Hendry was shown backstage on the floor hurting, the victim of an apparent attack.

Nic Nemeth got a near fall on the Home Town Man after a big elbow drop. Cardona got the hot tag and hit a middle rope dropkick on Nic. Cardona hit the Unpretty-Her on Nic for a near fall. Nemeth countered Radio Silence and Ryan caught Cardona with a jumping DDT for a near fall. Home Town Man came in with a crossbody on both Nemeths for a near fall. Home Town Man tried to hit both Nemeths with a sliced bread, but they countered it and took the Man out with a Hart Attack. Ryan tried to tie up Home Town Man with a sharpshooter, but Home Town Man countered that with a small package and got the pinfall!

After the match, The Nemeths took out Cardona with a Danger Zone. The Nemeths stripped The Home Town Man of his mask, but Cardona covered his face up before we could learn his identity. This better lead to a Hair vs. Mask match at Bound for Glory.

Mike Santana defeated Ridge Holland (7:57)

Santana cut an impassioned promo before the match outside the arena surrounded by fans. If Holland took out Santana, Trick Williams promised him a title shot. So Santana came out swinging, dumped Holland to the floor and hit him with a tope con hilo on the floor. Holland sent Santana into the ring apron then got a near fall back in the ring off a suplex. Holland avoided an enziguri. Santana caught him with a crossbody, but Holland came back with a powerslam and kind of a Snowplow looking move for a near fall. Holland went for a implant DDT, but Santana blocked it and backdropped his way out of the move. Santana hit a pair of lariats, and flying lariat and then kipped up. Santana hit an enziguri in the corner. Holland blocked a rolling cutter but got dropped with a Death Valley Driver. Holland blocked the discus lariat, but walked into the rolling cutter. Santana hit the cannonball in the corner. Santana hit a top rope superplex. Santana then tried to transition into another suplex, but Holland countered with a vertical powerslam for a near fall. Santana avoided a clothesline from Holland and came back and hit the discus lariat to get the pinfall victory.

After the match, TNA World Champion Trick Williams ran in from behind and hit Santana with the championship belt. The crowd is behind Santana, but every time Williams appears he comes off as ten times the star, and the booking of Williams laying out Santana with a belt shot and then walking away didn’t really help Santana. This needed to be more like Santana succumbing to a bunch of NXT thugs lead by Williams, but still being defiant after taking a beating.

— Matt Hardy bullied the doctor into cleaning him for a match with AJ Francis later tonight.

Mustafa Ali defeated Moose to win the advantage for Hardcore War at Bound for Glory (12:18)

The members of Order 4 and the System each came out with their respective representavies in the match, then adjourned to the back. Except for the “escorts” of Ali, a trio of masked belly dancers.

Moose killed Ali with a boot to start the match. Moose brushed off a pair of chops by Ali and hit a pair of his own. Moose set Ali on the turnbuckles than dropkicked him to the floor. As impressive as Moose looks, Ali is doing a tremendous job bumping all over the place and selling like crazy. On the floor, Moose tried to powerbomb Ali, but Ali countered with a spinning DDT. Ali’s “escorts” watched from the entrance ramp.

Back in the ring, Ali hit a springboard moonsault, but Moose’s kickoff sent Ali out of the ring. Ali hit a rolling neckbreaker for a near fall. Ali tried to slow things down with a chinlock, but Moose easily powered out. Ali hit a jumping rana, then sent Moose into a ring barricade with a plancha. Moose avoided the 450, then dropped Ali with an uranagi and a senton. More chops were exchanged. Ali hit a super kicked, but Moose turned Ali inside out with a clothesline. Ali countered a powerbomb attempt with a code red for a near fall. Ali went to the top, but Moose cut him off with a chop. Moose tried for a superplex, but Ali blocked it. Ali tried a springboard, but Moose caught him and countered with the Go to Hell (a Sky High) for a near fall. Ali dodged a spear and went for a suplex, but Moose blocked it. Ali countered the counter and got the suplex and god, Ali is just magnitudes of order better than anyone else on this show so far.

Moose hit a spear out of nowhere and almost got a three, but Ali’s foot was on the rope and the ref stopped her count. The fans chanted “ref you suck!” But that was 100% the right call so that crowd owes her an apology. Both guys dropped to the floor. Moose charged at Ali, and Ali backdropped Moose right onto the steel stairs. Back in the ring, Ali hit the 450, but Moose SAT UP while holding Ali. Ali’s facials were great here. Ali went at Moose with rights, but Moose hulked up. Ali dove into a headbutt from Moose. Ali caught a charging Moose with a cradle for two. Ali went for a backslide, which Moose countered. Moose hit a huge powebomb for another near fall. Ali’s escorts surrounded the ring. They all got on the apron, and distracted the ref. One slid into the ring and gave Moose a low blow behind the ref’s back. Ali then hit the 450 and got the pinfall.

And of course after the match, the “dancer” who gave the low blow revealed herself to be Tasha Steelz. This was a great match.

Joe Hendry defeated Eric Young (11:16)

Young grabbed the mic to declare himself the winner by forfeit, but of course says the name of his opponent, and he appeared. There was a fan opposite the hard cam holding up a sign that said “The Cleanse is Coming.” Lots of brawling around the ring to start. Back in the ring, Young hit a DDT to take control. Young was on offense for a long time. Young used a lot of wear down holds, which gave time for the crowd to get behind Hendry but didn’t do much for me. Hendry fought out of the sleeper three times but then got caught right back in it again. Hendry ultimately  countered the sleeper by hitting Young with a suplex.

Hendry mounted the comeback with a step up rana and a fallaway slam. A fan dressed as Hendry stood next to the “Cleanse is Coming” sign guy, which I don’t think TNA intended to happen. Hendry with an Olympic Slam for a near fall. Hendry set up a superplex, but Young bit Hendry, pushed him to the mat and hit a flying elbow for near fall. Young mocked Hendry’s clap. Hendry escaped a death valley driver attempt, but Young hit a piledriver for a near fall. Young got into the face of the referee. Hendry came up behind Young and got hit with a lowbrow. Young went to the floor to bring in some steel chairs, but the former members of the Northern Army ran down to distract Young. Hendry then caught Young with the Standing Ovation on a steel chair and got the pinfall. Even though Hendry hit his finisher on a steel chair, Hannifan on commentary gave a convoluted explanation as to why that wasn’t a disqualification. This made no sense and it would have been better for him to just leave it alone. Match was fine and the crowd was way into it.

— The commentators talked up footage from NXT on Tuesday where the TNA roster “stood up” to the NXT roster. My angle sense in tingling.

Matt Hardy v. AJ Francis

Matt came out limping more than usual. Hardy then announced the match would be… a TABLES MATCH. Hardy promised to but Francis’ “big a$$” through a table.

Matt Hardy defeated  AJ Francis in a Tables Match (9:47)

Matt tried to pull a table from under the ring, but Francis put it back and the crowd booed. Francis really knows how to be a heel. Hardy charged at Francis and dove into his “Right Hand of God.” Back in the ring, Francis choked Hardy against the ropes. The crowd did not like AJ Francis. Francis flipped himself over the ropes while hitting Hardy with a knee, but missed a senton. Hardy went to the floor to grab a table. Hardy struggled to get the table in the ring. Francis cut him off with a boot. Francis propped a table up in the corner and went to charge at Hardy, but Hardy got out of the way. Francis charged a Hardy with a cannonball, but Hardy ducked and Francis put himself through the table. But, since Hardy didn’t put him through the table, the match continued.

Hardy deleted Francis’ head into the turnbuckles, then hit a DDT out of the corner. Hardy was selling bad ribs and went to the floor to grab a chair. In an ill-advised spot, Hardy hung the chair around Francis’ head, but Francis pulled Hardy into the chair, catching Matt’s face on the legs of the chair. Francis threw the chair at Hardy’s face and choked him out with the chair. Francis went up for a moonsault, but taunted the crowd and Hardy recovered to hit him with the chair. Hardy drove Francis down to the mat with an avalanche side effect.

Hardy set up a table on the floor.  Back in the ring, Francis hit Hardy with a spear. Francis grabbed Matt’s TNA tag title belt. Francis tried to hit Matt with the title belt, but Matt ducked and dropped Francis with a Twist of Fate. On the floor, Hardy hit Francis in the face with the belt (which set him up on the table). Hardy came off the top rope with a legdrop to put Francis  through the table (on the floor!) and get the victory.

Kelani Jordan defeated Léi Yîng Lee for the vacant TNA Knockouts World Title with Indi Hartwell as Special Referee (15:14)

Hartwell patted down both competitors before calling for the bell, always a great spot for the special referee. She even checked Lee’s hair for weapons.

Lee caught Jordan with a shoulder block. Jordan caught Lee with a dropkick to send her to the floor. Lee caught Jordan with a knee and a dropkick for a near fall. Jordan dodged a charge from Lee and caught her with a splash for a near fall. Jordan countered a fireman’s carry with a sunset flip, which set off an exchange of cradles and near falls between the two.

After dueling chants from the crowd for TNA and NXT, Lee caught Jordan with strikes in the corner. Release Northern Lights suplex got Lee a near fall. Lee went for a spinning face buster, but Jordan escaped. Both women nearly collided with Hartwell at points. Jordan worked over Lee with a half-crab. We all know what agent in the back gave her that idea. Lee eventually kicked Jordan to the floor to escape.

Jordan climbed the ropes, but Lee caught her with more strikes. Lee jumped from the mat to the top rope and took Jordan down with a hurricanrana in a cool spot. Both women began exchanging strikes in the center of the ring, with Lee eventually firing up to take control. Lee hit a thurst kick, a rolling necksnap and a seated dropkick for a near fall. Lee went for a powerbomb, but Jordan rolled through and hit a superkick. Jordan charged, but Lee caught her with a Blue Thunder Bomb for another near fall.

Jordan dropped to the floor to take a breather. Lee followed and Jordan caught her with a kick. Jordan tried to go for a rana off the apron but messed up the move and wound up powerbombing herself. Lee sold the move anyway and Jordan popped up. Back in the ring, Jordan went for a kick, but Lee countered and locked Jordan in an STF. Jordan fought her way out and rolled up Lee for a near fall. Jordan planted Lee with a sitout implant DDT. Jordan hit a frog splash for another near fall.

Jordan went for a split legged legdrop off the top, but somehow hit Hardwell. Lee hit Thunderstruck, but Hartwell was out. Hartwell recovered but Lee only got a two count. Lee and Jordan exchanged small packages for two. Jordan hit Lee with a a stunner, then delivered a split legged moonsault and got the pinfall.

After the match, Carlo Silva presented the TNA Knockouts World title to Jordan. Jordan also held up Lee’s hand in a show of respect. Ash also came out to congratulate the new champion.

Frankie Kazarian defeated Steve Maclin for the TNA International Championship (15:35)

The “TNA Headlines” graphic before the match all but gave away the finish, especially after the commentators harped on how it’s been 3 years since Kazarian held a TNA title.

Maclin handled Kazarian well early on, out wrestling him from the onset. Kazarian tried to turn things into a brawl and that went even worse for him. Maclin mauled him with forearms to the back in the corner, then dropped Kazarian with a backbreaker for near fall. Kazarian missed a legdrop on the apron, but Maclin missed a big dive to the floor. Kazarian followed up with a lariat on the floor to take control.

Back in the ring, Kazarian hit a slingshot legdrop. Kazarian caught Maclin with a forearm to the throat. Maclin had a bloody lip. Kazarian whipped him hard into the corner. Kazarian dove at Maclin, who tried to drive him down with a uranagi. Kazarian came back with a clothesline. Kazarian worked over Maclin with a cravat.

Kazarian hit a neckbreaker for a near fall, then went back to the cravat. Maclin fought his way out of the cravat and went for an Olympic Slam. Kazarian escaped and someone forgot what they were supposed to do, leading to an awkward spot. Maclin caught Kazarian with a face buster and both men were down.

Kazarian charged into a clothesline from Maclin. Maclin caught him with a Thez Press. Maclin hit a forearm in the corner and a short clothesline. Maclin got the Olympic Slam for a near fall. Kazarian went for the chicken wing, but Maclin escaped and hit a charging knee. A headbutt got Maclin a near fall. Maclin clubbed Kazarian in the corner and hung him upside down. Maclin charged, but Kazarian countered with a cutter in an amazing spot for a near fall.

Kazarian went for the chicken wing again, but Maclin countered. Kazarian caught Maclin with an elbow and avoided a charge in the corner. Kazarian climbed the ropes, but Maclin caught him with a right and fought up there with Kazarian. Maclin clubbed Kazarain in the back some more, then superplexed him down. Maclin rolled though and into a death valley driver style neckbreaker. Kazarian rolled to the floor.

Kazarian caught Maclin with a slingshot DDT for a near fall. Kazarian set up Maclin on the ropes and set up the Flux Capacitor, but Maclin shoved Kazarian off. Maclin went for a top rope headbutt, but Kazarian got out of the way and tried to lock in a chicken wing. Maclin fought his way out and sent Kazarian to the floor. Maclin hit a dive to the floor on Kazarian.

Back in the ring, Maclin hung Kazarian upside down, but was distracted by El Mesías as he made his way to the ring. Maclin hit El Mesías with a dive. While the ref sent Mesías to the back, Kazarian low-blowed Maclin by kicking the middle rope as he stepped over it. Kazarian  then caught Maclin with a slingshot cutter to get the pinfall and the International Title. This was solid.

Leon Slater defeated Myron Reed to retain the TNA X-Division Championship (13:43)

Both guys were very quick in the opening. Reed caught Slater with a legdrop to the back of the head. Reed kept trying to intimidate Staler. When he finally had enough of that, Slater leveled Reed with a forearm. Reed caught Slater with a lung blower. He went for a springboard, but Slater cut him off with a dropkick to send him to the floor. Slater followed out with a springboard plancha.

Back in the ring, Slater slowed down the pace with a series of hard chops. Salter pummeled Reed in the corner with right hands. Slater hit a crossbody for one. Slater floored Reed with a superkick. Reed caught Slater with a rana into a cradle for a near fall, then turned Slater inside out with a superkick.

Reed caught Slater with an enziguri, then tossed him to the mat after bouncing him off the top rope. Reed tried to set up Slater in the ropes, but Slater escaped. Reed jumped to avoid a kick but Slater grabbed him out of the air and hit the Utopia helicopter slam for a near fall. Reed caught Slater with a kick, but then dove off the middle rope into a boot from Slater. Reed rolled to the floor, and Slater followed him out with a flip dive over the turnbuckle to the floor.

Back in the ring, Reed avoided a 450 but Slater caught him with a lariat. Reed countered a suplex from Slater by supplying him to the floor, but Slater held on and tried for the suplex on the floor, but Reed countered that with a Stundog Millionaire on the floor. Then on the other side of the ring, Reed caught Slater with his over the top rope running cutter to the floor. Reed hit Slater with the 450 in the ring, but Slater kicked out.

Reed hit some overhand rights on Slater. Slater fought back with a chop. Reed avoided a leg lariat and hit a cutter. Reed propped up Slater in the corner. Reed went for a superplex, but Slater countered with a twisting superplex of his own. Slater hit the swanton 450 and got the pinfall to retain the title. Great match.

After the match, TNA President Carlos Silva presented Slater with his championship belt, and both men shook hands after the match.

Santino Marella came out while Slater celebrated to put over Leon Slater. Marella has been negotiated with Ava from NXT for Leon Slater’s Bound for Glory opponent, who will be Je’Von Evans. Evans cut a pre-taped promo from the video wall to announce the match.

Final Thoughts:

With no Men’s World title, Knockouts World title, or World Tag Team title match advertised going into, this felt like it was going to be an underwhelming B-show. But the International and X-Division title matches way overdelivered and Mustafa Ali’s match was tremendous. And the hot crowd made for an overall fun show.

Bound for Glory (so far…)

  • Mike Santana (TNA) v. Trick Williams (NXT) for the TNA World Title (held by Williams).
  • The Hardys v. Team 3D for the TNA World Tag Team Titles
  • Je’Von Evans (NXT) v. Leon Slater (TNA) for the TNA X-Division (held by Slater)
  • Indi Hartwell (TNA) v. Kelani Jordan (NXT) for the TNA Knockouts World Title (held by Jordan)
  • Order 4 v. The System in a Hardcore War

WWE NXT wrestlers appear at Thursday TNA Impact taping

The relationship between TNA Wrestling and WWE NXT continued at Thursday’s Impact taping in Nashville, Tennessee.

While full spoilers from the Skyway Studios taping have yet to emerge, images on social media from fans in attendance showed Sol Ruca, Wendy Choo and Brinley Reece in action in addition to on-screen “NXTNA liaison” Arianna Grace.

Ruca and Choo were previously announced for the show, competing in a trios match that saw Ruca team with TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace and Masha Slamovich against Choo, Rosemary and Tasha Steelz. Reece took on Ash by Elegance.

The taping was originally set to take place last weekend in Spartanburg, South Carolina, but was canceled due to the effects of Hurricane Helene in the region.

If you have spoilers from Thursday’s taping, please email us the results.

Here’s a few notes that have emerged from Thursday:

  • Sami Callihan, PCO & Joe Hendry defeated The System
  • Josh Alexander defeated Eric Young
  • A three-way Full Metal Mayhem match was made for Bound For Glory between The System, ABC and the Hardys
  • Frankie Kazarian will be the special guest referee for the Bound for Glory title match between World Champion Nic Nemeth and Joe Hendry

Eric Young still talks with Triple H, thinks WWE & TNA partnership is good for wrestling

This year in wrestling has certainly come with a lot of surprises and some major headlines with one of those being the brand collaboration between TNA Wrestling and WWE.

From Jordynne Grace’s entry into the 2024 Royal Rumble to Joe Hendry generating millions of views on social media for WWE to different wrestlers popping up on each other’s programming, the “NXTNA” collaboration has been making headlines.

Someone who has seen both sides of that is former two-time TNA World Champion Eric Young who also worked with WWE from 2016 through 2020. He briefly returned in November 2022 before being granted his release in April 2023 due to his reluctance to work under Vince McMahon once Endeavor came into the picture.

While appearing in Hermosa Beach, California, to promote his upcoming Vinyl Obsession show on AXS TV, I talked to Young about his thoughts on the partnership where he shared that he still talks to Paul “Triple H” Levesque often, who he said is a good friend, as they both share a love for music but don’t talk about much wrestling.

“(The partnership) is good for both sides. What it’s really good for is pro wrestling because it has people thinking and talking ‘What if this person shows up or that person shows up?’,” he said. “I think this is the tip of the iceberg. It’s cool now, but we’re really just seeing the beginning, the genesis of it.”

While we did see Grace wrestle with main roster talent during the Rumble, most of the appearances have been made between NXT and TNA wrestlers. Given that NXT is the developmental brand for WWE, Young noted that having talents like Hendry appear on NXT adds legitimacy and helps young inexperienced talent grow.

“Joe Hendry is one of the most popular wrestlers in the entire world right now. Him showing up on their show adds a legitimacy to their show because it is populated by a lot of young, inexperienced people. I have been young and inexperienced. You can’t gain experience by not doing it. They’re learning as they go and having people like (Frankie) Kazarian and even now, they had Hammerstone and Jordynne Grace showing up several times, that only adds to them. Them coming over to us and us being in a partnership only adds to our show, and what it does is it has people’s interest and it has people talking about what could happen.”

“It’s a really cool thing to be part of. It doesn’t come to any surprise to me that those guys are in control and now this is happening. It’s a joint venture, a joint business agreement that is beneficial to both sides and for it to not be happening would be foolish. So, yeah, it’s great,” he said.

You can check out the full interview here and the debut of season two of Vinyl Obsession on October 6th.

Steve Maclin defeated Hammerstone

After the long recap video kicks off the show, the camera shot settles inside the Impact Zone where Steve Maclin makes his way to the ring. Out next is Hammerstone, with the commentators talking through highlights of his debut on WWE NXT earlier this week.

The bell sounds to start things off, and the two both come out strong. Maclin backs Hammerstone into the corner and lights him up with some chops. Hammerstone fights back but runs into a back-elbow. Maclin drives Hammerstone into his knee and blasts him with a short-range clothesline for a two-count.

Hammerstone muscles Maclin up and rushes him into the corner. He drives his shoulder into his mid-section and blasts him with some forearms. He hoists him up and charges across the ring to do the same thing in the other corner before planting him into the mat with a spinebuster.

Tom Hannifan points out the taped up left shoulder of Maclin and mentions he is curious to see how it holds up in this match. Hammerstone blasts Maclin in the bread basket with a knee. He holds onto Maclin’s injured left arm and begins to go to work on it.

Hammerstone hits a belly-to-back suplex for a two-count, and then goes back to work on his weakened limb. Hammerstone looks for a Torture Rack, but Maclin saw it coming and starts a comeback. He uses his good arm to fight off the muscle monster.

He hits a mean back-breaker and then pounds Hammerstone in the corner. He hangs him upside down in the tree of woe and charges at him with a spear for a close two-count. Maclin tries to hook Hammerstone for the K.I.A., but Hammerstone avoids it and hits a power slam.

Maclin clotheslines Hammerstone over the top and out to the floor. He runs back into the ring and hits a big dive. He brings Hammerstone into the ring and heads to the top-rope. Hammerstone cuts him off and climbs up after him. He hits an enormous overhead belly-to-belly off the top.

Hammerstone hits a single-leg dropkick after avoiding a running knee from Maclin. Hammerstone looks for his finisher but Maclin escapes out the back door and rolls him up for the unexpected three-count.

Hammerstone attacks Maclin after the match. He puts him in the Torture Rack until Eric Young runs out to make the save. Jake Something comes down and he and Hammerstone exchange a look while standing side-by-side glaring at Young and Maclin in the ring.

The System Reboot Continues Tonight

Backstage, Alisha Edwards asks if we want to know something. JDC rips off Jim Neidhart’s “we’re gonna get hungry and forget our manners” line when it is his turn to explain, like the rest of The System all do, why tonight The System Reboot continues. Moose confirms JDC’s status in the group. “You can always trust The System!” The show heads into the first commercial break of the evening.

New Tag-Team Bout For TNA Victory Road

When the show returns, Steve Maclin talks backstage about what he said at TNA Emergence about there not being enough good people worthy of trust and respect in this business. Eric Young walks in and he tells him he’s one of them. Young nods and says the same about Maclin. He tells Hammerstone and Jake Something they’ll see them at Victory Road.

Heather Reckless defeated Gisele Shaw

Inside the Impact Zone, the highly-touted new TNA Knockout Heather Reckless makes her way out for her Impact debut. The commentators sing her praises as she settles inside the squared circle. Her entrance tune dies down and out comes Gisele Shaw for her final match in the promotion.

The commentators remind us about Reckless being cut off last week by Ash By Elegance. The bell sounds and off we go with match number two for this week’s show. The two shake hands, circle and lock up. Shaw muscles Reckless down to the mat with ease.

They lock up again and Shaw slaps a side headlock on Reckless. Reckless begins to fight back and hits a big DDT that plants Shaw’s dome directly into the mat. As the action continues, out comes Ash By Elegance and George Iceman to get a closer look at the action.

Reckless hits a big shoulder tackle off the ropes. She hits a moonsault for a two-count and then follows up with a wild Canadian Destroyer for an even closer nearfall attempt. Shaw fights back with a Spinebuster that would make Arn Anderson proud.

Shaw hits Shock ‘N’ Awe for a close two-count, but Reckless somehow kicks out. George Iceman hops on the apron to distract the referee. While this is going on, Ash By Elegance decks Shaw on the top-rope. Reckless runs up and hits somewhat of a Spanish Fly, which she calls “Recked,” for the win.

Matt Cardona And His Property Set For Action At TNA Victory Road

After the match, we see a new Xia Li “Coming Soon” vignette and then the show heads into another break. When the show returns, “Alwayz Ready” Matt Cardona comes out with his “property,” Steph De Lander. She looks miserable has he orders her around. He makes her hold the ropes for him.

In the ring, she begins to speak first and he yanks the microphone out of her hands and says, “I do the talking around here!” He boasts returning from a life-threatening injury and thinks Santino Marella has it out for him.

Cardona brings up a match with PCO and Rhino against himself and a partner of his choosing for TNA Victory Road. He does a big build-up for the partner reveal, points to the tunnel and then turns to De Lander and says it is her.

He says if she Finger Poke of Dooms him or turns on him, he’s sending her back to Australia. The theme for “The French-Canadian Frankenstein” hits and out comes PCO. Wasn’t Frankenstein the doctors name, by the way?

De Lander low-blows Cardona as PCO enters the ring. He chokeslams Cardona into the mat and gives De Lander a big hug as fans chant his name.

ABC defeated First Class in a Tornado Tag-Team Match

Gia Miller has a quick sit-down interview in the empty arena for a taped segment with Spitfire duo Jody Threat and Dani Luna, who talk about their high stakes tag-team title tilt against TNA Knockouts Tag-Team Champions Masha Slamovich and Alisha Edwards at TNA Victory Road 2024. If they lose, the team must break up.

Inside the Impact Zone, the theme for First Class hits and out comes AJ Francis and KC Navarro for scheduled Tornado Tag-Team action. The reigning TNA Tag-Team Champions ABC come out next. Chris Bey and Ace Austin settle in the ring and the match gets started with a bang.

ABC and First Class all end up on the floor almost immediately, and the brawl is on all over the place. Francis and Navarro settle in the early offensive lead. The show heads into a mid-match break as the fight continues.

When the show returns, Francis and Navarro are in a comfortable offensive lead and talking all kinds of trash in the ring. Bey tries fighting back on the floor, but Navarro maintains control of things. Francis continues a slow domination in the ring on Austin, while Navarro keeps stopping Bey from coming in the ring to help.

Moments later, Bey finally does get in the ring and he and Austin hit a double-suplex on Francis. Bey hits a big cutter. Austin follows up with a big spot of his own and the two both cover Francis at the same time for the win. After the match, the show heads into another commercial break.

Joe Hendry & Josh Alexander Talk TNA Victory Road

The show returns with a Jonathan Gresham vignette about him continuing the rebirth and shedding the mask persona. Back inside the Impact Zone, Joe Hendry’s theme hits and he comes out for his scheduled segment.

He settles in the ring after his full entrance and then calls out Josh Alexander. “The Walking Weapon” appears in the rafters and says he’s up there for Hendry’s own protection. He says, “Now make me laugh, funny man.”

Hendry says he wouldn’t make a video making fun of Alexander …or would he? He introduces The Josh Alexander Story. It’s a music video with Hendry calling Alexander a Jesse Pinkman look-alike who is slowly turning into Walter White. His big claim is Alexander doesn’t ever smile. He calls him Kurt Angle From Wish.

Alexander is shown very much not smiling in the rafters when it wraps up. He talks about everyone loving Hendry because he had a couple of videos that went viral. He didn’t earn it like Alexander, making towns and fighting his way to the top the right way.

He says he’ll be smiling ear to ear when he beats Hendry at Victory Road. Hendry says Alexander sounds upset because the fans aren’t chanting “Walking Weapon.” He says he saw a sign earlier that said, “Walking Weiner.” Of course, that starts a loud “Walking Weiner” chant. Alexander says Hendry just dug his grave a little deeper.

Arianna Grace Makes Jordynne Grace A Promise

The commentators talk about Wendy Choo being announced as Jordynne Grace’s opponent for TNA Victory Road in the TNA Knockouts Championship match. We see Grace confront NXT and TNA liaison Arianna Grace about the pillow appearing last week.

She asks who else carries around a pillow other than Choo. Arianna says The Sandman. Grace gets a promise from Arianna that there won’t be any funny business at Victory Road during her match. The show heads into another commercial break.

Ash By Elegance defeated Xia Brookside

When the show returns, Mike Santana is shown in a vignette talking about Nic Nemeth’s commendable run thus far as TNA World Champion. He mentions how he is going to punish Moose. Back inside the Impact Zone, George Iceman introduces Ash By Elegance.

Xia Brookside is out next and then the bell sounds to get this one off-and-running. The two trade shots and then Ash runs into a big boot from Brookside in the corner. Brookside slams her down and then hits a cross body splash for a two-count.

Brookside blasts Ash in the back with a big kick. She rolls her up for two and then blasts her with another kick. Iceman trips up Brookside and Ash starts to take over. She stomps a mudhole in Brookside. She does not, however, walk it dry. She goes for a cover for a two-count.

Brookside fights back and takes over. She hits two Broken Wings to the back of Ash as she is kneeling in the corner. She goes for a third but is stopped by Iceman who hops on the apron and begs her to show mercy to the lovely Ash. She eventually goes for it, but misses. Heather Reckless runs out and cheap shots her and Ash rolls her up for the win. Reckless stands next to Ash as she poses in victory at ringside.

The Hardys (Matt & Jeff Hardy) defeated The System (Brian Myers & Eddie Edwards)

It’s main event time!

But first, Nic Nemeth is shown backstage for a go-home promo for Victory Road. He talks about Moose having the chance to handle things like a man, but opting to go a different route.

He mocks The System Reboot and talks about Moose tagging his heroes like The Rock and Triple H, who he points out he shared the ring with and beat in the past. After he wraps up, the commentators hype tonight’s tag-team main event and the show heads into another commercial break.

When the show returns, Ash By Elegance is complaining about her hair to George Iceman when Heather Reckless walks in. They both liked her helping Ash by agree she needs a makeover. Iceman offers to give her one if she wants some time.

Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt run down the lineup for TNA Victory Road. The Hardys vs. First Class in a main card bout and KUSHIDA vs. Leon Slater and Steve Maclin & Eric Young vs. Hammerstone & Jake Something is confirmed for the “Countdown” pre-show.

The System theme hits inside the Impact Zone and out comes Brian Myers and Eddie Edwards accompanied by Alisha Edwards. The three head to the ring for our scheduled tag-team main event match of the evening.

The iconic entrance tune for The Hardys plays next and out comes Matt and Jeff Hardy to the ring to a big pop from the Louisville crowd. As the four men are in the ring and ready to rock and roll, Hannifan and Rehwoldt talk us into one final pre-match commercial break.

When the show returns, fans chant “Happy Birthday” to Jeff Hardy. Hannifan says on commentary they’re wishing him a happy belated birthday. Nice. We’re live .. as far as you know! Evil laugh! Matt and Myers kick things off for their respective teams.

Matt takes the early offensive lead, isolating the arm of Myers and working it over while fans chant “DELETE! DELETE! DELETE!” Jeff tags in, the happy birthday chants spread like wildfire again, and he picks up where Matt left off. After taking it to Myers a bit, he tags Matt right back in.

Myers takes over and brings Matt to The System corner of the ring, where he tags in Edwards. Edwards goes to work on Matt with chops until Matt fights back and tags Jeff back in. The two hit a double-team spot on Edwards. Jeff settles back in the offensive lead.

The Hardys hit their trademark Poetry in Motion double-team spot and then dump Myers and Edwards out to the floor. Jeff dives off the apron with a double clothesline to take out both members of The System. Edwards trips Jeff up as he re-enters the ring and Jeff walks into a super kick from Myers.

As The System settles into the offensive lead, Hannifan talks us into a mid-match commercial break as the main event of the evening continues. When we return, we see Matt fighting from underneath and beginning to make a comeback, only for Alisha Edwards to get involved at ringside and cut it short.

The System settle back into a comfortable offensive lead, utilizing frequent tags and keeping Matt cut off on their side of the ring. Matt hits a right hand a neck-breaker minutes later to finally crawl to his corner for the much-needed tag.

The (belated)-birthday boy gets the hot tag and brings the fans out of their seats with his white-hot babyface comeback. He rolls through his greatest hits of trademark spot, such as the crotch leg drop, Whisper in the Wind and Twist of Fate. He takes the shirt off for the female pop. The works, folks.

His attempt at a top-rope Swanton Bomb is broken up by interference from Myers. Edwards tries capitalizing with a pin, but only gets two. Fans break out in a random-ass “Brother Nero” chant. The System Over-Load attempt is broken up by Matt.

Matt hits a Twist of Fate to Myers off the ropes. He’s sent to the floor and Hardy hits a Twist of Fate on Edwards. Jeff hits the top-rope Swanton Bomb for the win. We all go home happy. And TNA’s Victory Road go-home show ends on that note.

Thanks for joining us, and don’t forget to follow me on Twitter/X.

TNA Impact live results: Hardys vs. The System, Charlie Dempsey vs. Jonathan Gresham

Matt & Jeff Hardy will continue their feud with The System in one of the headlining matches on tonight’s edition of TNA Impact as the brothers will face former TNA World Champion Moose & JDC in tag team action.

Two more qualifying matches for this month’s Ultimate X match at Emergence will take place at Hammerstone battles Frankie Kazarian and KUSHIDA in one while Jai Vidal takes on Laredo Kid and Bhupinder Gujjar in the other.

In what promises to be a technical affair, WWE NXT’s Charlie Dempsey will return to battle Jonathan Gresham.

In a trios bout, PCO will team with Rhino & Xia Brookside against Matt Cardona, Steph De Lander & a mystery partner. Cardona recently returned to ruin PCO and De Lander’s wedding and honeymoon. Cardona agreed to the match only if he could team with De Lander and the mystery person.

Current Knockouts Tag Team Champion Alisha Edwards will take on Rosemary.

Hammerstone defeated Frankie Kazarian and KUSHIDA to qualify for Ultimate X at TNA Emergence

Things kick off with Hammerstone coming to the ring for the first of two more qualifying matches for the Ultimate X match for the X-Division Championship at TNA Emergence 2024. Frankie Kazarian comes out next, followed by KUSHIDA, and then the match gets off-and-running.

Kazarian immediately backs into a corner and watches as Hammerstone goes to work on KUSHIDA in the corner. Kaz tries rolling him up from behind, but he kicks out. Hammerstone chokeslams Kaz but walks into a big kick and then helps KUSHIDA get Hammerstone out of the ring to take him out of the picture.

KUSHIDA and Kaz begin mixing it up, with KUSHIDA catching him with a variety of kicks that sends him to the floor. Hammerstone hops on the apron, only to be kicked back to the floor by KUSHIDA. KUSHIDA goes to work on Kaz on the floor, who takes over and brings the action back into the ring.

In the ring, Kaz gets KUSHIDA down and does his pose over him in sarcastic fashion. As Kaz and KUSHIDA are trading shots, Hammerstone comes off the top-rope with a double drop kick. He hits big clotheslines to both in opposing corners. He hits a pair of t-bone suplexes after that.

With KUSHIDA still down, Kaz is left standing when Hammerstone mean-mugs him. He begs off and then cheap shots him when he turns around. Hammerstone no-sells it and chases Kaz around, Bobby Heenan style, as he begs off and back-pedals around the ring.

On the floor, KUSHIDA and Hammerstone both beat Kaz down for a big pop from the crowd. KUSHIDA trips Hammerstone up, and the big man crashes face-first into the steel steps. Back inside the ring, Kaz hits a big move on KUSHIDA for a close two-count. KUSHIDA fights back and gets a cross-arm-breaker on the mighty arm of Hammerstone.

Kaz comes off the top to break that up. He goes for Fade to Black on Hammerstone, but KUSHIDA goes for the mist. Hammerstone gets KUSHIDA up in a torture rack, but he elbows his way free and slaps on the Hover Board Lock. Hammerstone muscles out of it and Donkey Kong’s KUSHIDA into the mat, Rampage-Ricardo Arona style, for the win.

With the win, Hammerstone qualifies for Ultimate X. He leaves the ring to Kazarian to beat down KUSHIDA after the match, and Kaz does exactly that. He hits KUSHIDA with his Fade To Black finisher and poses over him as the crowd boos.

Steve Maclin Confronts Eric Young Backstage

Gia Miller is backstage with Eric Young and she talks about Hammerstone having a lot of momentum going into their match next week. Young says maybe he never makes it to Emergence when he beats Hammerstone’s face in. Steve Maclin interrupts and tells Young, “Like always, I’ll be watching.”

Mike Santana Is Coming For The System

After a commercial break, Mike Santana is sitting in a chair in a taped vignette. He talks about having The System to thank for knowing what kind of monster he needs to be. He vows to come after The System one-by-one until he cuts the head off of the snake.

Rosemary defeated Alisha Edwards

The first lady of The System makes her way out as we return inside the Impact Zone. One-half of the TNA Knockouts Tag-Team Champions is ready for singles action. Her opponent, the knife-toting Rosemary, is out next.

She heads to the ring with the knife in-hand, as the commentators marvel at her being allowed to. Great point, for the record. Fans chant for Rosemary as the bell sounds to get things started, and she jumps into an immediate offensive lead.

She hits Edwards with big shots and then ties her up with her legs around her throat as she hangs upside down over the ring apron under the bottom rope until the referee breaks things up. Edwards begins fighting back and takes over on offense. She hits a big slam for a two-count.

Edwards puts the boots to Rosemary and then wraps her legs around her neck to re-pay the favor, but instead repeatedly hip-thrusting and bouncing Rosemary’s dome off the canvas. Edwards hits a running cross-body onto Rosemary as she is slumped over in the corner. She hits another one for a two-count.

Rosemary connects with a big spear off the ropes to shift the offensive momentum back in her favor. She hits a running hip-attack in the corner and then an X-Factor. She calls for sweet chin music in the corner, but Masha Slamovich grabs her ankle at ringside.

Spitfire duo Jody Threat and Dani Luna come out to handle her, and then Rosemary hits her finisher for the win in the ring. She lays over Rosemary and then grabs her bag. She pulls out a black rose, crosses Edwards’ arms and lays it on her.

Xia Brookside, Rhino & PCO defeated Steph De Lander, Kon & Madman Fulton

After the Edwards-Rosemary bout wraps up, the show heads into another commercial break. When it returns, Ash By Elegance is featured in a vignette where she introduces the idea for a “Match by Elegance” in response to the recent challenge from TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace.

Back inside the Impact Zone, Xia Brookside’s theme hits and out she comes for mixed six-person tag-team action. “The Beast Man-Beast” Rhino is out next, followed by double-champion PCO. His undead bride, Steph De Lander, comes out next as the first of their opponents. Matt Cardona comes out next with a microphone.

He’s clearly not in ring gear, which he points out. He says Santino Marella didn’t do his due diligence. He says doctors won’t clear him and announces De Lander’s two mystery partners. Out comes “The Baddest Man In TNA” Kon, followed by Madman Fulton.

De Lander doesn’t look pleased. Cardona shouts at her from ringside as De Lander points to the wedding ring on her finger. Fulton and PCO kick things off, but PCO exits the ring and quickly (French-Canadian)-Frankenstein-stomps around the ring charging at PCO.

Kon ends up taking him out from behind as we head into an early mid-match commercial break. Kon shoves Xia down to the mat. She bites him and jumps on his back but he runs back-first into the corner. De Lander keeps trying to help her Maid of Honor and opponent for tonight, Xia.

After Rhino tags in, he quickly finds himself on the defensive, as Kon goes to work on him and tags in Fulton to pick up where he left off. Cardona gets involved at ringside as well, choking Rhino over the bottom rope from the floor. De Lander gets in his face when he hits Rhino a second time.

De Lander asks Rhino if he’s okay from the apron. Kon yells at her to ask him again and then drops a big leg on him before tagging Fulton back in. Fulton goes to work on him and then blasts PCO with a cheap shot. He tries to do the same to Xia, who hops off the apron to avoid it.

He then turns around into a big shot from Rhino, who then makes the hot tag to PCO. PCO hits the ring like a man possessed, blasting Fulton and Kon and knocking them to the floor. He hits the ropes and dives through for a double splash. Back in the ring, he hits a DDT out of the corner on Fulton.

He heads to the apron and leaps off with a double bang-bang elbow drop. Back in the ring, Fulton heads to the top-rope. Xia stops him and with an assist from PCO, slams him off the top. He gets up and walks into a gore from Rhino. PCO heads to the top-rope and hits a PCO-sault for the win.

Nic Nemeth, Josh Alexander TNA Emergence Iron Man Match Video Package

After an excellent video package airs to promote the 60-minute Iron Man match between Josh Alexander and TNA World Champion Nic Nemeth at TNA Emergence, the commentators promote the second Ultimate X qualifier coming up after the break. We then head to another commercial.

Laredo Kid defeated Jai Vidal and Bhupinder Gujjar to qualify for Ultimate X at TNA Emergence

When the show returns, Jordynne Grace is featured in a backstage segment. She responds to the Match By Elegance challenge from Ash By Elegance earlier in the show. She tells her she should know by now that trying to surprise her with a special stipulation.

She says she’s proven with her open challenges that she can be surprised in the ring and still come out on top. Inside the Impact Zone, Laredo Kid, Jai Vidal and then Bhupinder Gujjar make their way to the ring with our second of two Ultimate X qualifying matches.

Laredo Kid knocks both guys out to the floor at the jump but is then attacked on the floor by Vidal. He heads back into the ring and mixes it up with Gujjar, who hits a big drop kick off the ropes. A hurricanrana from Gujjar sends Vidal to the floor. He plays to the crowd and goes for a dive but leaps into a kick from Laredo Kid on the apron.

Kid sends Gujjar out to the floor and Vidal rolls him up for a two-count. Gujjar hits a crazy high spot onto Kid and Vidal in the ring. Kid takes over and hits a top-rope dive onto Gujjar on the floor for a loud “Lucha! Lucha!” chant from the crowd. Kid works over Vidal in the ring and leads the crowd in another chant.

He hits a twisting moonsault off the ropes for a pin attempt, which Gujjar breaks up. Vidal and Gujjar get into a hair-pulling match, ala Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels in a backstage “brawl.” Kid then takes over and hits a 450 splash off the top-rope onto Vidal for the win to qualify for Ultimate X at TNA Emergence. After the match, the show heads into another commercial break.

“Speedball” Mike Bailey To Defend X-Division Title Next Week

Backstage, Rich Swann and AJ Francis have words with X-Division Champion “Speedball” Mike Bailey and fellow Speedball Mountain member Trent Seven. Bailey accepts a title match against Swann for next week.

Jonathan Gresham defeated Charlie Dempsey

Now it’s time for one that should be solid bell-to-bell, as WWE NXT Superstar Charlie Dempsey of the No Quarter Catch Crew makes his way to the ring. He settles inside and the theme for his opponent hits to bring out “The Octopus” Jonathan Gresham.

The bell sounds and Dempsey immediately goes to work on the arm of Gresham. Fans give this a “This is Awesome” chant before they do anything other than exchange control of the others arm a few times back-and-forth. Talk about judging a book by its’ cover … in a good way.

Dempsey gets Gresham down and this very slow-paced, methodical, amateur-style wrestling and grappling contest continues on the mat. Dempsey works over Gresham’s arm and they stand back up. A smattering of “boring” chants spreads throughout the Impact Zone. How quickly the opinion changed.

Gresham now takes Dempsey down and controls him by the arm. About five minutes of literally nothing thus far, in short. After a few more minutes, Gresham hits the first move in a hold-for-hold, catch-as-catch-can contest.

They knock that pro wrestling crap off real quick, and go to a test of strength which leads to more arm-holding and squirming on the mat. Gresham tries muscling Dempsey’s arms down with hand-locks for a pin attempt, but Dempsey kicks out. They stay connected by their hands and pop up to their feet and monkey-flip the other overhead.

This repeats a few times into some pin attempts and bridging. Fans are starting to get into a bit now. They continue this same style for all over another minute or two before Gresham gets the pin kind of out of nowhere. Afterwards, Dempsey throws a fit and tries brawling with him.

Gresham blasts him with more punches in the aftermath than he did bell to bell. Dempsey heads off angry. Once this wraps up, the commentators promote The Hardy Boys vs. Moose & JDC from The System in our main event. On that note, the show heads into another commercial break.

The Hardys (Matt & Jeff Hardy) defeated The System (Moose & JDC)

It’s main event time!

But first, when the show returns we see footage from WWE NXT of Joe Hendry and Zachary Wentz appearing. From there, Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt run down some upcoming TNA dates. After that, the iconic sounds of The Hardy Boys theme plays.

Out comes the legendary duo of Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy, as Hannifan promotes the Jeff Hardy’s ‘Birthday Bash & Appreciation Night’ coming up in Louisville, Kentucky. Their opponents, The System duo of Moose and JDC come out together by themselves.

As they settle inside the squared circle for our final match of the evening, the commentators talk us into one more commercial time out before things get started. When the show returns, Jeff teases throwing his shirt into the crowd for possibly the biggest pop of the night. That’s a shoot.

Jeff goes out to the floor and pulls a chair out from under the ring before anything happens. He charges at JDC but gets run over from a huge blindside clothesline by Moose at ringside. The bell sounds and Moose gets Jeff in the ring and goes to work on him.

Moose whips Jeff into the corner and charges in with full momentum, but Jeff moves and Moose hits the corner hard chest-first. Hardy takes over and hits a neck-breaker and tags in Matt. Matt drops down and Jeff runs and hits Poetry in Motion on Moose in the corner.

Fans break out in the obligatory “You still got it!” nostalgia-chant as Moose begins to easily take over the offensive control on Matt. He knocks Jeff off the apron with a cheap shot and goes back to work manhandling Matt.

JDC tags in and picks up where Moose left off as fans rally behind Matt with a “Let’s go Hardy!” chant. JDC hits a stun-gun to Hardy, dropping him throat-first over the top-rope. Moose tags in and Donkey Kong’s Matt and tags JDC right back in. Fans rally again with a loud “Let’s go Matt!” chant.

A loud “DELETE! DELETE!” chant spreads throughout the Impact Zone as The System duo double-team a defenseless Matt. Moose stays in as the legal man and continues to dominate. He goes for a power bomb but Matt counters into a Russian Leg Sweep.

This buys him enough time to make the much-needed tag to Jeff. Jeff hits Twist of Fate on Moose and heads to the top-rope, only for JDC to distract him, which allows Moose to crotch him on the top. We head into a mid-match commercial break as Moose puts the boots to Jeff.

When the show returns, Matt is fired up on offense and leading fans in a “DELETE!” chant. He hits a middle rope elbow drop and calls for the Twist of Fate. Unfortunately he doesn’t get past the “HUH?!” portion of the process before he is sent crashing and burning out to the floor at ringside.

Moose tags in JDC, who puts the boots to Matt and drills him with a few punches in the corner. Matt tries fighting back, but JDC remains in control. He blasts him with a stiff chop and takes him to the mat, where he controls him with a side head-lock.

Fans stomp and clap to rally Matt back into competitive form. He gets inches away from the sorely-needed tag to Jeff, but JDC cuts that off, along with the ring, and returns Matt to The System corner, where Moose tags back in. Hardy hits a suplex on Moose to buy himself some time.

Jeff leads the Impact Zone into a frenzy as Matt crawls to the corner and makes the tag. Jeff takes the hot tag and hits the ring like a man on a mission, only without glossy purple and gold ring gear. He hits a few of his signature spots and goes for the cover on JDC, who kicks out at two.

Jeff hits a side-Russian leg-sweep and then hits a leg-drop onto the legs of JDC into a pin attempt for a count of two. JDC whips Jeff into the corner but walks into a big back-elbow, which sets Jeff up for the Whisper in the Wind off the top for a two-count.

JDC counters a Twist of Fate attempt by Jeff and levels him. Both guys are down and the referee begins his double count. They each crawl to their respective corners for the tag. Matt hits Moose with a Side Effect for a close two-count. Jeff disposes of JDC, who tries hitting the ring.

Moose and Matt trade shots as fans react with “Boo!” and “Yay!” responses, respectively. Hardy catches Moose with a big stunner but JDC hits Down and Dirty to break up Matt’s subsequent pin attempt. Moose crawls to make the tag to JDC. JDC knocks Matt down with a big boot and heads to the top.

Matt crotches him and climbs up after him. Matt connects with a Twist of Fate out of the corner and tags in Jeff for an explosion from the crowd, who feels the finish. Jeff hits a Swanton Bomb off the top-rope and covers JDC for the pin fall victory. Pretty damn good main event and one actually deserving of a “You still got it!” chant for the legendary duo.

Moose attacks the iconic team after the match. He puts the boots to him until Mike Santana’s theme hits. He comes down and connects with Spin The Block on Moose. He puts the boots to him until Eddie Edwards and Brian Myers run down and the numbers game helps The System take over.

You get three guesses who comes out to make the final save to end the show on a positive note. “Say his name, and he appears …” hits the house speakers. From London to Tokyo, and in tonight’s case, Tampa, FL., Joe Hendry hits the ring.

Fans go nuts as Hendry’s theme keeps playing long enough to get to his rocking guitar solo as he, Santana and The Hardys clear the ring of The System crew. They head out to the floor and continue the four-on-four beat down all over the building.

Fans chant “We Believe!” as the good guys stand tall together in the ring and the bad guys cower and retreat. A loud “TNA!” chant breaks out as this week’s show goes off the air on that note. Thanks for joining us, and don’t forget to follow me on Twitter/X.
