Ric Flair is dealing with plantar fasciitis but does not expect it to affect his performance later this month in Nashville.
Dave Meltzer reported on Monday’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that Flair is dealing with a foot injury. Flair then appeared on Busted Open Radio on Tuesday and revealed that he is dealing with plantar fasciitis.
“I’ve got plantar fasciitis, if I’m pronouncing that correctly, on the bottom of my foot. Other than that, I am perfect but that damn thing is sore as shit. I’m at the doctor right now,“ Flair said.
Plantar fasciitis is a disorder that impacts the connective tissue that supports the arches of the feet. It is known to cause pain when walking.
Flair does not believe the plantar fasciitis will impact him during the match, however.
“I would just deaden it if I had to, you know me, but it affects me daily. It’s hard running the ropes with that damn center of your foot,” he continued.
Flair also spoke about his daughter Charlotte attending his last match.
“She’ll be there but I don’t know whether she’ll be on camera or not,” Flair said. “Absolutely, she will be there. She wouldn’t miss that. I don’t think she’d miss it even if Andrade wasn’t involved, she just might not be on camera.”
Ric Flair’s Last Match will take place on Sunday, July 31 from the Nashville Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. It will air live on FITE TV as part of Starrcast V. The lineup for the show is as follows:

The official announcement of Ric Flair & Andrade vs,. Jeff Jarrett & Jay Lethal for the Ric Flair’s final match show on 7/31 in Nashville. Notable is that Tony Khan is allowing Andrade to do the show and WWE is allowing a Senior Vice President to do the show working against someone from the other company. It was noted to us earlier today about how Jarrett being the referee in the Usos match the night before since the Jarretts have been on local television in Nashville and lived in the area dating back to the 60s, but that Jarrett would be working two shows that weekend and not just SummerSlam.
Regarding Andrade’s ankle injury, he is expected to be back for the match. He said he should be back in one or two weeks.
Mike Tenay reported today the passing of close family friend Cindy Heenan, Bobby’s wife. “Her devotion and support to Bobby was unparalleled. Survived by daughter Jess, son-in-law John and grandkids Austin and Hannah. Our times with them were the happiest and most memorable.” The Tenays and Heenans have been close for more than 25 years. I heard stories for years when Bobby could barely talk and her ability to basically understand him and speak for him. Want to send sympathies to all who knew her.
Raw tonight in Tampa has passed the 8,000 market for tickets out. As noted the last few weeks, WWE crowds are increasing of late which means what they are doing now is clicking. The big thing on the show is Logan Paul appearing plus Bianca Belair vs. Carmella in a women’s title match. The show goes up against Home Run Derby so it won’t finish first in the ratings this week. Usually that hurts the rating a little but if the company has momentum toward SummerSlam (which isn’t usually being promoted this time of year), that could change things. The key thing to look for is if the 18-34 number tomorrow moves significantly from 0.31, because any growth is probably Logan Paul related.
We’re looking for reports from Raw tonight in Tampa with Main Event matches and dark matches as well as anything that isn’t on the live show, plus reports from yesterday’s WWE shows in Daytona Beach and Fort Lauderdale to [email protected]
Our weekend polls are for the first two nights of G-1 in Sapporo as well as the NOAH Budokan Hall show with a thumbs up, thumbs down or thumbs in the middle along with a best and worst match to [email protected]
Former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar is now looking at retiring with his final fight at the upcoming show in Madison Square Garden which is set for 11/12. Edgar has lost four of his last five fights including two brutal knockouts. Edgar is 40 and fighting in the lighter weights which is the young men’s weight class.
The next G-1 show is Wednesday morning at 5:30 a.m.Eastern with David Finlay vs. Yujiro Takahashi, Tama Tonga vs. Chase Owens, Bad Luck Fale vs. Lance Archer and Hirooki Goto vs. Tetsuya Naito. After that will be Saturday and Sunday at the Ota Ward Gym in Tokyo.
If you saw Fenix limping at the end of Rampage, he rolled his ankle and couldn’t put weight on it in the closing moments of the Penta & Fenix vs. Private Party match. The injury was nothing crazy, as he landed from a simple atomic drop. He seems to be okay because he wrestled on Friday (Rampage was taped Wednesday) in Tijuana and isn’t scheduled to miss any time.

Ric Flair’s “last match” has finally been revealed.
Flair will team with his son-in-law Andrade El Idolo for the first time ever as the two take on Jeff Jarrett & Jay Lethal in a tag team match at Jim Crockett Promotions Presents: Ric Flair’s Last Match. The pay-per-view is being held at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium on Sunday, July 31 and will air live on Fite TV.
The announcement of the match was made on episode two of the Ric Flair’s Last Match docuseries.
The Last Match event will be the first time the 73-year-old Flair has wrestled since 2011. Flair has been training in the ring with Lethal leading into the show.
There was an angle on Flair’s podcast last month where it was claimed that Lethal no-showed appearing on the podcast. Flair said Lethal was upset with him because Flair wouldn’t let him be part of the Last Match event.
That angle continued on the Last Match docuseries when Lethal attacked Flair following the press conference for Jim Crockett Promotions Presents: Ric Flair’s Last Match. After Flair was rude to him when he tried to help, Jarrett joined in on the attack and helped bloody Flair.
Jarrett will also have a role at WWE SummerSlam in Nashville on Saturday, July 30, serving as the special guest referee for The Usos vs. The Street Profits for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team titles.
Jim Crockett Promotions Presents: Ric Flair’s Last Match is taking place as part of Starrcast V. Here’s the updated card for the show:

Clark Connors vs. Ren Narita
The Von Erichs (Marshall & Ross Von Erich) vs. The Briscoes (Jay & Mark Briscoe)
As his final match in the ring approaches at the end of July, Ric Flair is dealing with a foot injury.
Dave Meltzer reported the news on Monday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, saying Flair was “hurt.” However, the injury isn’t expected to derail the proceedings for the Ric Flair’s Last Match pay-per-view on Sunday, July 31st in Nashville, Tennessee.
On Monday at 6:05 PM Eastern, Flair’s opponent(s) will be revealed — the final piece in the puzzle for the event. Several options have been speculated on but a tweet from Flair’s account Monday indicated that it’s someone from the WWE Raw roster.
On July 31, I’m Coming After One Of Your Own. #WWERaw
Flair’s trademark “Whoo!” recently returned to WWE’s TV show open after being removed due to the Dark Side of the Ring ‘Plane Ride From Hell’ episode controversy. Here’s the current card:

Dave Meltzer and I are back on Wrestling Observer Radio talking all the latest news in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter including stories on the G1 starting this weekend, ROH’s upcoming pay-per-view, and the UFC on ABC.
But first, we talk about Ric Flair’s last match and Dave’s story on Vince McMahon. We also talk about the AEW Dynamite rating, ESPN+ getting a price increase, and Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels’ A&E Rivals documentary.
Ricky & Kerry Morton will be a part of the Ric Flair’s Last Match card.
