Kane ‘really proud’ of Undertaker’s AAA booking success

Kane is “really proud” of the success his kayfabe brother is having in Lucha Libre AAA creative.

Since WWE’s acquisition of AAA, Undertaker has become an important figure behind the scenes in helping to book the lucha libre promotion. AAA reached the highest point of its WWE era so far last weekend, with the El Grande Americano (Ludwig Kaiser) vs. Original El Grande Americano (Chad Gable) mask match receiving praise as one of the best things to happen in pro wrestling all year.

On Mostly Sports with Mark Titus and Brandon Walker today, Kane reacted to how well Undertaker and AAA are doing.

“Man, it’s amazing. I’m so proud of him. He’s running AAA, which WWE bought, a Mexican promotion, and it’s super hot. I think it just shows how talented he is,” Kane said. “He is the only person that could have made The Undertaker believable. Anybody else, they could have never pulled that. Well, his ability in wrestling transcends that even. Now he’s booking and running a company. As you said, hottest match of the year. The promotion is super hot. And I’m just really proud of what he’s doing.”

While Undertaker has stayed around pro wrestling after the conclusion of his in-ring career, Kane — real name Glenn Jacobs — entered politics and is currently serving his final term as mayor of Knox County, Tennessee.

Kaiser defeated Gable in the mask match at Noche de Los Grandes and will now keep the Americano gimmick moving forward. AAA has Triplemania, traditionally its biggest show of the year, coming up on September 11 and 13 with the respective nights being held in Las Vegas and Mexico City.

Undertaker comments on AAA Noche de Los Grandes —

Following Saturday’s event, Undertaker sent out a tweet thanking everyone who watched Noche de Los Grandes and made the atmosphere electric.

“The atmosphere was electric. The world was watching. History was made,” his X account posted. “To all those in attendance in Monterrey and for everyone who watched #AAANocheDeLosGrandes wherever you did…thank you for making it a truly epic night for @luchalibreaaa!”

WWE airing El Grande Americano mask vs. mask match on Netflix

WWE is hoping to get as many eyes as possible on the El Grande Americano mask vs. mask match from Lucha Libre AAA.

The rivalry between El Grande Americano (Ludwig Kaiser) and Original El Grande Americano (Chad Gable) culminated with Kaiser getting the victory at AAA Noche de Los Grandes this past Saturday. The match has become an instant classic, earning Kaiser and Gable praise from fans and their WWE peers. WWE management apparently thinks very highly of the match as well, with it being announced during Raw today (June 1) that, immediately after the episode ends, WWE will be airing an encore presentation of the mask vs. mask match on Netflix.

Kaiser vs. Gable originally aired on WWE’s YouTube channel, where AAA’s TV is broadcast for free every week for viewers outside of Mexico, Central America, and South America (except Brazil). AAA airs on Fox Mexico in those markets.

The Kaiser vs. Gable rivalry is likely to be in strong contention for 2026’s Feud of the Year in all of professional wrestling. Though Gable originally introduced the character, Kaiser assumed the Americano gimmick last year when Gable was forced out of action due to injury. The two started feuding after Gable returned, and Kaiser became a huge babyface in Mexico during the process.

Kaiser’s May arrest briefly put this mask vs. mask match in jeopardy, but the state of Florida did not object to his motion to continue traveling domestically and internationally while the battery case plays out. A pre-trial conference in the case, where the alleged victim is a male resident of Kaiser’s apartment complex, is scheduled for July 16.

AAA’s next major events —

Coming out of Noche de Los Grandes, AAA has Triplemania 34 — its biggest annual event — set to be held over two nights on September 11 and 13. Night one is set for Las Vegas, with night two being held in Mexico City.

AAA could potentially add another big show to its upcoming schedule with Verano de Escandalo 2026 rumored for July 25.

Rey Mysterio named new general manager of AAA

Rey Mysterio is Lucha Libre AAA’s brand new general manager.

After weeks of teasing on AAA on Fox, the promotion’s brand-new general manager was announced on Saturday, May 23, 2026, during the live episode.

AAA President Marisela Pena kicked off the May 23, 2026 episode with the new general manager announcement. Several AAA legends and current talent were in the ring and ringside for the announcement. Pena’s son, Dorian Roldan, was also inside the ring beside his mother, hoping to get the job.

However, in a shocking turn of events, Pena announced WWE Hall of Famer and legendary luchador Rey Mysterio as the promotion’s new general manager. With Mysterio announced as the new authority figure, fans also connected the dots of his voice missing from the English commentary at the start of the show.

While the wrestlers and legends present inside the ring and ringside celebrated Mysterio’s appointment, Roldan and AAA Mega Champion Dominik Mysterio were visibly upset at the announcement.

Rey Mysterio will be joining The Undertaker, part of AAA on Fox’s creative team, as the new General Manager.

El Grande Americano Mexico City event back on after cancellation

Plans for El Grande Americano are moving forward with Ludwig Kaiser expected to be able to travel outside of the country.

Lucha Libre AAA’s “Serenade for El Grande Americano” event, originally scheduled for Wednesday before being canceled, is now back on and will take place tonight (May 22) in Mexico City. It’s a free event where fans can show their support for Kaiser/Americano ahead of his upcoming mask vs. mask match against Original El Grande Americano (Chad Gable).

The serenade is being held at Kings League Dome and is limited to 300 fans.

Kaiser was arrested this week on a misdemeanor battery charge relating to an incident that took place last month involving a male resident of his Orlando, Florida apartment complex. When he learned of a warrant for his arrest on May 19, Kaiser was in Mexico for WWE/AAA. He returned to the United States the next day to turn himself in and is now out on a $1,000 bond.

Following the arrest, Kaiser’s attorney filed a motion requesting that Kaiser be allowed to continue to travel out of state and internationally. The state of Florida is not objecting to the motion.

El Grande Americano vs. Original El Grande Americano mask match —

The mask match between the two Americanos is set to headline AAA Noche de Los Grandes in Monterrey, Mexico on May 30. Gable originally introduced the Americano character to WWE television, but Kaiser took over when Gable underwent shoulder surgery in 2025. Since Gable’s return, they’ve had one of the best-received feuds in wrestling with Kaiser playing the babyface.

AAA has a live TV episode this Saturday that will finish the build to Noche de Los Grandes.

AAA to name new General Manager next month

Lucha Libre AAA is all set to reveal their brand new general manager next month, in May 2026.

Last week, during the April 18, 2026, episode of AAA on FOX, Dorian Roldan approached his mother, Marisela Pena Roldan, with the proposal of naming him as the new general manager of AAA.

However, she stated that she needed time to think about the decision. On the April 25 episode of AAA on Fox revealed that she will be on the search for a new general manager in the upcoming weeks.

Marisela Pena Roldan further revealed that AAA’s brand new general manager will be revealed on Saturday, May 23, 2026, on the show in Mexico City, Mexico. According to Pena Roldan, nothing in AAA will remain the same once the new general manager is unveiled.

While AAA is on the search for its new GM, Adam Pearce currently serves as WWE Monday Night RAW’s general manager, while Nick Aldis is the active GM of Friday Night SmackDown. Robert Stone and Timothy Thatcher serve as NXT and Evolve’s GMs, respectively.

Date confirmed for Americano mask vs. mask match

The rivalry between El Grande Americano (Ludwig Kaiser) and Original El Grande Americano (Chad Gable) is officially set to culminate on May 30.

After a challenge was issued over the weekend, WWE has announced that the two Americanos will face off in a mask vs. mask match at AAA Noche de los Grandes on Saturday, May 30. The news was announced in a tweet sent out by The Undertaker, who is a leading voice in AAA creative

“Circle the date on your calendars!,” Undertaker wrote. “Mask vs. Mask will take place at #AAANocheDeLosGrandes on May 30th at Arena Monterrey. This will be intense!”

Our Dave Meltzer had reported this as the expected date for the bout, with Noche de los Grandes set to air as a full live special rather than being broken up into one-hour blocks.

To build up the match, Kaiser and Gable had a brawl in Mexico last Saturday that has been highly praised by fans for how intense it looked. It included Gable threatening AAA broadcast team member Andrea Bazarte — who is Kaiser’s girlfriend — before Kaiser made the save and laid down the mask vs. mask challenge.

Gable originally played the Americano character but was forced out of action for several months due to a shoulder injury he suffered in 2025. During that time, Kaiser took over the gimmick and expanded on it with the introduction of sidekicks Rayo Americano (Pete Dunne) and Bravo Americano (Tyler Bate).

International trios teams begin competing on AAA on Fox

The latest episode of AAA on Fox saw Trios teams consisting of international wrestlers compete against each other.

The first match of the April 4 episode of AAA on Fox saw The Tokyo Bad Boys (Kento, Takuma, and Nobu San) take on Team Puerto Rico (Lince Dorado, Mecha Wolf, and El Mesias). The match featured El Mesias’ long-awaited AAA return, who had not been seen in the promotion for several months now.

Later in the night, Team Europe (Axiom, Dorian Van Dux & Elio LeFleur) vs. Team UK (Charlie Dempsey, Nathan Frazer & Tristan Angels) was the main event of the night. The match finished with Axiom’s Team EU picking up the victory.

During the episode, Corey Graves also announced that there is scheduled to be “an influx of international talent to be competing in trios-style matches in the months and weeks to come.” His statements were proven right with tonight’s series of two International Trios matches. Although AAA has not yet announced next week’s set or team of International Trios matches.

Next week, the WWE Intercontinental Title will be on the line as El Hijo de Vikingo faces Penta. Also, Lady Flammer will celebrate her run as the longest-reigning Reina De Reinas Champion.

El Hijo del Vikingo hoping to join WWE main roster soon

Lucha Libre AAA star El Hijo del Vikingo is hoping to join the WWE main roster in the near future.

At Rey de Reyes 2026 this Saturday night, Vikingo is challenging Dominik Mysterio for the AAA Mega Championship in a no disqualification match. The bout also comes with a couple of added stipulations. If Vikingo wins, Dominik has to leave AAA. If Dominik wins, Vikingo cannot challenge him for the title again.

Vikingo spoke with Denise Salcedo ahead of the match and was asked about his WWE goals. He is focused on this bout against Dominik right now but is looking forward to entering the main roster.

“After I defeat Dominik for the championship, I will enter the main roster of WWE,” Vikingo said. “We already entered the video game [WWE 2K], now we are going to enter the main roster. Those are my short-term plans.”

When he does get to Raw or SmackDown, Vikingo wants to mix it up with the other luchadores.

“I had a lot of matches with Penta inside of AAA, out of Mexico, and a lot of other places. I would like to face Penta, Fenix, Dragon Lee, and Rey Mysterio now being in the main roster,” he responded when asked about potential opponents.

Vikingo has been one of AAA’s top stars dating back to before WWE acquired the lucha libre company in 2025. He has some past experience in AEW and TNA Wrestling as well.

Saturday’s Rey de Reyes card has a start time of 10 p.m. Eastern, airing on Fox in Latin America and on YouTube and Facebook outside of that region.

The newly announced AAA World Cruiserweight title match will take place on one of the three cards. The title bout’s confirmed match card has not been announced yet.

Lucha Libre AAA wrestler released after fan incident

A Lucha Libre AAA wrestler has reportedly been released after getting into an incident with a fan at an indie show.

Bodyslam.net and Lucha Blog are reporting that Nino Hamburguesa was released from AAA after elbowing a fan during a match last Tuesday. Video of the incident has gone viral on social media, with it showing Hamburguesa delivering three softer elbow strikes to the fan before then hitting him with a more significant blow.

Lucha Blog’s report notes that other wrestlers were informed of Hamburguesa’s release last Friday.

“Sources claim that the clip did no favors towards the AAA star,” Bodyslam.net wrote. “And despite fans saying that the fan previously provoked Hamburguesa, he intentionally sat on the lap of other person and proceeded to hit him several times with constant elbows straight to the face. He was [notified] of his termination via Zoom Call. WWE and AAA haven’t made a declaration of the incident.”

The heavyweight Hamburguesa had remained with AAA after the promotion was acquired by WWE, including working matches at Guerra de Titanes in December 2025 and AAA’s Fox Latin America premiere this January. He is a former AAA Mixed Tag Team Champion and won the 2025 Rey de Reyes tournament.

Rey de Reyes 2026 is taking place this weekend and will see La Parka, Original El Grande Americano (Chad Gable), El Grande Americano (Ludwig Kaiser), and Santos Escobar face off in the finals.

AAA notes: Rey de Reyes final qualifier, Reina de Reinas title open challenge

Notes from Saturday’s AAA television show that aired after WWE NXT Vengeance Day 2026.

This week’s March 7 episode of AAA on Fox marked the go-home show for next week’s Rey de Reyes in Puebla, Mexico. The episode was taped last week at the Showcenter Complex in Monterrey, Mexico.

Tonight’s episode began with a recap of last week’s heated feud between the two El Grande Americanos. Following this, in the first match of the night, El Hijo del Vikingo defeated Dinámico. El Hijo del Vikingo is scheduled to face Dominik Mysterio for the AAA Mega Championship at Rey de Reyes.

It was followed by AAA Reina de Reinas Champion Lady Flammer appearing on screen and issuing an open challenge for her title, limited not just to the AAA’s women roster, but also to WWE’s female division, at Rey De Reyes.

This was followed by the final qualifying match for the Rey De Reyes tournament, where Santos Escobar defeated Mr. Iguana, Psycho Clown, and Abismo Negro to book his spot in the finals.

In the final match of the night, The “Original” El Grande Americano defeated La Parka after executing the bridging German suplex. In the closing moments of the show, Santos Escobar and Ludwig Kaiser’s Americano came out on the stage. The go-home show for Rey de Reyes closed with all four finalists standing tall to close the episode.

In another update, Rey de Reyes is now scheduled to air in three parts on their weekly shows on Saturday.

AAA notes: Rey de Reyes qualifiers, new number one contender for Cruiserweight title

Notes from Saturday’s AAA television show that aired immediately after WWE Elimination Chamber 2026.

The February 28 AAA show began with Ludwig Kaiser’s El Grande Americano challenging the original El Grande Americano to prove his authenticity by speaking Spanish. Taking shots at his limited Spanish vocabulary and recent AI vignettes, Kaiser’s Americano sent Pimpinela Escarlata to speak with the original Americano.

However, things soon turned haywire when the original Americano attacked Escarlata, injuring the wrestler. Escarlata was previously scheduled to be in the Rey de Reyes qualifier match with Omos, Ethan Page, and El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. However, after the injury angle, Escarlata was replaced by Kaiser’s Grande Americano in the match.

The episode also featured an AAA World Cruiserweight Championship No 1 contender’s match between Dragon Lee and Jack Cartwheel. Following a heavily praised match, Lee stood tall and became the No 1 contender for the Cruiserweight title. However, he was soon interrupted by TJP before an all-out brawl broke out amongst Laredo Kid, TJP, Lee, and Cartwheel. The segment finished with Cartwheel standing tall with the title.

In the main-event of the show, Omos, Ethan Page, El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr., and El Grande Americano II faced off for a chance to qualify in the Rey de Reyes tournament final. In the closing moments of the match, fans saw interuptions from Rayo and Bravo Americano handcuffing Omos to the ring post, Santos Escobar interupting Dr. Wagner Jr., La Parka arriving and hitting the original Americano with chairshots, before Kaiser’s Americano hit Page with the running headbutt and secured himself a spot in the finals.

He will now join Original Grande Americano and La Parka in the four-way match at Rey de Reyes, with four other men competing for the final spot next week.

AAA on Fox lineup | March 7, 2026

Lucha Libre AAA is set to host its  Rey de Reyes show on March 14th. However, with one spot remaining, Santos Escobar will be going against Mr. Iguana, Psycho Clown, and Abismo Negro to qualify for the final position on the upcoming March 7, 2026, episode of AAA on Fox.

  • Santos Escobar vs. Mr. Iguana vs. Psycho Clown vs. Abismo Negro for the last remaining spot in the Rey de Reyes tournament final.

Rey Mysterio interested in helping WWE grow Lucha Libre AAA

Rey Mysterio is still enjoying competing in the ring, but a behind-the-scenes position in Lucha Libre AAA could potentially interest him down the line.

The 51-year-old Mysterio addressed his future goals while appearing on a new edition of Cody Rhodes’ “What Do You Wanna Talk About?” podcast. Mysterio always thought the WWE Hall of Fame would be his final accomplishment. But now that he’s achieved that while still being an active wrestler, Mysterio just wants to keep enjoying himself in the ring and working with his son Dominik until it’s eventually time to step away.

“I mean, not really,” Mysterio responded when asked if he knows what his next goal is. “I pretty much have seen more than I could imagine with the growth of Dom and his evolution here in the sport, and how he’s grown, and how he’s become his individual self, and the place that he’s carrying and taking the name to, which I always deep down inside thought that he would be bigger and better than me in a different way.

“And I guess this is the way, which is also funny because my wife said that if he ever wrestled, that she always saw him as a bad guy. And here is the bad guy that my wife obviously spent way more time with him than I did. I was always on the road, so I guess she saw a side of him that I am now seeing. Obviously, I didn’t know.”

Now that AAA is under the WWE umbrella, Mysterio thinks it would be fun to help that promotion grow. He’ll always be grateful for how AAA helped launch his career.

“But overall, I think it might be fun to help with the acquisition with AAA and be involved as much as I can with that,” Mysterio said. “And kind of start learning on how to work on the production side or how I can invest my time to eventually help AAA grow. Knowing that that was my house, my very first house or my home from day one. And from there, it all started. Everything flourished from AAA. But I’m still enjoying the moment.”

Dominik is the current Mega Champion in AAA and also holds the Intercontinental title in WWE. He and his father faced off in a tag match in December 2025 at AAA Guerra de Titanes.

Number one contenders for AAA Tag Team titles crowned

WWE’s War Raiders have won the number one contender’s match for the AAA Tag Team titles.

In the main event of the February 14th episode of AAA on Fox, the War Raiders competed in a three-way tag-team to determine the new number one contenders.

The duo faced off against Los Americanos (Rayo Americano & Bravo Americano) and Money Machine (Garra de Oro & Colmillo de Plata) for a shot at Pagano and Psycho Clown’s tag titles, and emerged victorious.

Ivar & Erik secured the win by pinning Money Machine. They are now scheduled to face Pagano and Psycho Clown for the titles on an unspecified future date. Tonight’s episode finished with the two teams sharing an intense staredown.

Prior to this, the War Raiders last competed in a losing cause against Los Americanos on the January 5th episode of Main Event.

Reason why Jeremy Borash isn’t listed on AAA on Fox’s credits

Recently, wrestling announcer Jeremy Borash’s name was missing on AAA on Fox’s credits, for which our Bryan Alvarez has revealed the reason.

Last year, WON had reported that the booking of AAA Guerra de Titanes was handled by Jeremy Borash and Undertaker, but recently his name went missing on the credits list. Alvarez noted that Borash was not listed in the credits because apparently the only list included people “who have the role of Executive Producer.”

Nearly eight years ago, in 2018, Borash departed Impact Wrestling for WWE. Borash held multiple vital roles at Impact Wrestling, where he was heavily praised for his role in the “Broken Hardys” content. He also played the role of an announcer on camera.

After joining WWE in 2018, he made his televised WWE debut as a part of the 205 Live team with Tom Phillips in 2020. He also directed The Undertaker’s WrestleMania 36 “Boneyard Match” against AJ Styles.
