WWE announces Women’s Tag Team title unification match

A match to unify the WWE and NXT Women’s Tag Team titles will take place in two week’s time.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler and NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre will meet on the June 23 edition of SmackDown to unify both sets of titles. This comes following a confrontation that took place on Friday’s SmackDown between the two teams.

Fyre and Dawn had made their way to the ring when they were cut off by Rousey and Baszler. Baszler told the two that there simply wasn’t room in WWE for both champions, and challenged them to a title unification match. The confrontation soon turned physical, with Baszler and Rousey focusing on Fyre before Dawn made the save.

When Fyre and Dawn were called up from NXT to the SmackDown roster, they brought with them the NXT Women’s Tag Team titles. They had won them back on April 1 at WWE Stand and Deliver, defeating Fallon Henley and Kiana James.

New Tag Team title number one contenders crowned on WWE NXT

Nikkita Lyons and Zoey Stark are the new number one contenders to the WWE NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships.

Lyons and Stark defeated Toxic Attraction’s Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne in a number one contenders match on Tuesday’s WWE NXT, putting themselves next in line for a shot at Katana Chance and Kayden Carter’s titles.

No date has been announced for the future title match.

Lyons, Stark, and Alba Fyre had been announced as facing Dolin, Jayne, and Mandy Rose in a trios match on Tuesday’s NXT show, but Rose and Fyre were taken out of the match in an angle.

In the angle, Fyre attacked the Toxic Attraction in the NXT parking lot with a baseball bat. After using the bat on Dolin and Jayne, Fyre carjacked the SUV that Toxic Attraction arrived in and drove off, presumably kidnapping Rose. Fyre challenging Rose for the NXT Women’s Championship looks to be in the cards, perhaps for Halloween Havoc on October 22.

Katana Chance & Kayden Carter crowned WWE NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions

Katana Chance and Kayden Carter are champions.

Chance and Carter won a four-way for the vacant Women’s Tag Team titles on Tuesday’s WWE NXT 2.0 episode, capturing the titles for the first time in their careers.

Chance and Carter defeated Toxic Attraction’s Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne, Yulisa Leon & Valentina Feroz, and Diamond Mine’s Ivy Nile & Tatum Paxley to win the titles when Chance pinned Jayne after a 450 splash.

The Women’s Tag titles had officially been vacant since last Tuesday’s NXT. The former title holders, Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade, split as a team when Jade turned on Perez on the July 12 episode of NXT 2.0.

Chance and Carter have regularly teamed since 2018, when Chance was known by her real name of Kacy Catanzaro, while Carter began her NXT career under the Lacey Lane ring name.

The duo have twice advanced to the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic semifinals, losing in that round in both 2021 and 2022.

The Championship win is the first for both in their WWE careers.

New Women’s Tag Team Champions to be crowned on next week’s WWE NXT

New Women’s Tag Team Champions will be crowned on next week’s WWE NXT episode.

WWE Hall of Famer Alundra Blayze (Madusa) appeared on this week’s episode to announce a four-way match for the apparently vacant titles for next week’s show. Toxic Attraction (Jacy Jayne & Gigi Dolin) will face Diamond Mine (Ivy Nile & Tatum Paxley), Yulisa Leon & Valentina Feroz, and Katana Chance & Kayden Carter to crown new champions.

Blayze made the announcement in a backstage segment with former title holder Roxanne Perez. Perez and Cora Jade had held the Tag titles, but Jade turned on Perez on the July 12 NXT episode, then threw her Tag title belt in a trashcan on the the July 19 episode.

Also announced for next week’s show, NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose will face Sarray in a non-title match.

Ahead of their title match at NXT Heatwave on August 16, NXT Champion Bron Breakker and JD McDonagh will have a “championship summit” next week.

In another women’s division bout, Alba Fyre will take on Lash Legend on next week’s show.

Additionally, Solo Sikoa will face Von Wagner in a falls count anywhere match next week.

Toxic Attraction regain Women’s Tag Team titles on WWE NXT

Toxic Attraction are once again NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions.

Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne regained the titles on this week’s WWE NXT episode, defeating Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai to reclaim the Women’s Tag Team Championship in a rematch from last Saturday’s Stand & Deliver event.

NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose provided a distraction allowing Dolin to avoid being pinned by Gonzalez, then Dolin and Jayne hit Toxic Shock on Gonzalez for the pin and the title change.

Gonzalez and Kai reunited on last week’s NXT episode, then defeated Toxic Attraction to capture their second NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship on the Stand & Deliver pre-show. Gonzalez and Kai were crowned the first-ever NXT Women’s Tag title holders on the March 10, 2021 NXT episode, then lost the titles that same night to Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart.

Toxic Attraction’s first title reign lasted 158 days after defeating Io Shirai and Zoey Starks for the Championship last October.

New NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions crowned at Stand & Deliver

Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez are the new NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions.

They defeated Toxic Attraction’s Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jane at NXT Stand & Deliver in Dallas on Saturday. Wendy Choo got involved by hitting Dolin with her pillow and throwing a drink in her face on the outside. This led to Gonzalez hitting Jane with a Chigona Bomb and picking up the victory.

This is the second time Kai and Gonzlez have won the titles. They were also the first-ever team to hold them. William Regal awarded them the belts on March 10, 2021 after they had won the Dusty Rhodes Classic at Vengeance Day the previous month. Kai and Gonzalez then lost the championships to Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart on the same day they were awarded them.

Toxic Attraction’s title reign ends after 158 days. They won a triple threat ladder match at Halloween Havoc 2021 to win the titles from Io Shirai and Zoey Stark. They successfully defended the championships just once on WWE programming, defeating Indi Hartwell and Persia Pirotta at Vengeance Day.

Women’s Tag Team title match set for NXT Stand & Deliver pre-show

A match for the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship has been announced for Stand and Deliver’s kickoff show this Saturday.

Champions Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne will face the reunited Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez. This follows events that took place on tonight’s episode of NXT that saw Kai and Gonzalez reunite after a bitter rivalry.

Toxic Attraction came to the ring during tonight’s show and said that Wendy Choo and Kai had failed. They mentioned that they had beaten everyone and that there’s no teams left to face. Kai came out and attacked Toxic Attraction by herself, as Choo had been missing since the start of the show. The three beat down Dakota Kai until Gonzalez made the save, the two reuniting following a split that took place last year.
