End of X-Division title match at TNA Bound for Glory draws ire of fans

For 20 minutes, TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater and young NXT star Je’Von Evans put on a show at TNA Bound for Glory that ended in a draw, bringing out Director of Authority Santino Marella to add another five minutes.

Then, things fell apart when NXT’s Darkstate came out to attack both men, drawing boos from the North American record crowd as well as those online. After Evans hit a Spanish Fly in overtime and went for the cover the lights went out and the heel faction attacked both men, drawing “f**k these guys” chants.

The match was then declared a no contest.

The angle is assumed to be leading to a match with Evans and Slater joining forces against the faction, but that wasn’t what fans wanted to see unfold on Sunday.

With the decision, Slater retains the title he first won at July’s Slammiversary.

TNA Bound for Glory ongoing quick results:

  • The IInspiration defeated The Elegance Brand to retain the Knockouts Tag Team titles
  • Kelani Jordan defeated Indi Hartwell to retain the TNA Knockouts title
  • Tessa Blanchard defeated Gia Miller
  • Nic Nemeth and Frankie Kazarian were co-winners of the Call Your Shot gauntlet
  • The System defeated Order 4 in a Hardcore War match
  • X-Division Champion Leon Slater and Je’Von Evans went to a no contest

TNA champion to miss RevPro event due to ‘scheduling change’

TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater has been removed from his scheduled appearance for indie promotion Revolution Pro Wrestling in London this weekend.

Slater was supposed to face a mystery opponent at the Sunday, October 5 Live in London event. Instead, it will now be Luke Jacobs taking on a yet-to-be-named opponent at the show. A scheduling change is the reason Slater is unable to compete.

“Due to a scheduling change Leon Slater has had to withdraw from this Sunday’s Live In London,” RevPro announced. “LUKE JACOBS will now step up to take on a mystery opponent!”

The 21-year-old Slater is from the United Kingdom and signed with TNA near the end of 2023. He will be a member of Team TNA on Tuesday’s NXT vs. TNA Showdown special, teaming up with Mike Santana, Moose & Frankie Kazarian in a Survivor Series-style elimination match. Their NXT opponents will be Ricky Saints, Trick Williams, Je’Von Evans & Myles Borne.

Not long after Showdown, Slater will defend his X-Division Championship against Evans at TNA’s Bound for Glory pay-per-view. The PPV is being held in Lowell, Massachusetts on Sunday, October 12.

The RevPro Live in London show will feature Sha Samuels vs. Michael Oku for the Undisputed British Heavyweight Championship. Alex Windsor vs. Nina Samuels is among the other matches set.

BVV: TNA Victory Road with Leon Slater vs. Myron Reed

The best thing on the promotion’s latest app special was the main event, which set up what might be an even better match at Bound For Glory. The Youngest in Charge Leon Slater defended the X Division title against the Young GOAT Myron Reed, with the winner going on to face the Young OG, Je’Von Evans from NXT. Oh, and Eric Young was also on the show, in what felt like Joe Hendry’s farewell to the promotion.

Elsewhere, the System faced Order 4 in Agent Zero’s in-ring debut with the company; a battle royal leads to a singles match to crown a new Knockouts champion with a surprising name coming out on top; Mike Santana and Ridge Holland have a tremendous Mean Guy Match; Frankie Kazarian battled Steve Maclin for the International title and a lot more, including a few highlights from Impact the night before.

We’ll break it all down on the latest Big Vinny V Show!

NXT wrestler to challenge for X Division title at TNA Bound for Glory

A new match for the X Division title is set for Bound for Glory.

After Leon Slater retained the title at Victory Road by defeating Myron Reed, TNA’s Director of Authority Santino Marella came out and congratulated Slater on the win, saying that’s what TNA is all about. He then said he had a major announcement, as he’s been talking to NXT’s General Manager Ava and revealed Slater’s opponent for Bound for Glory: Je’Von Evans, who appeared via video. He said he’s never had a chance to compete in a TNA ring until now and Bound for Glory is about to become real bouncy.

Slater defeated Reed in a hard-fought yet wild match featuring plenty of high risk offense, including a cutter to the floor by Reed and a brutal slumdog millionaire by Reed, also on the outside. Slater eventually got the win with the swanton 450 splash.

The weekend so far has been a busy one for Evans. In addition to his TNA cameo, he made a surprise appearance on Friday’s SmackDown, unsuccessfully challenging for Sami Zayn’s United States title. After the match, he was taken out by his opponent for Saturday’s NXT No Mercy PLE, Josh Briggs.

**********

Taped from Minneapolis.

Tom Hannifan & Matthew Rehwoldt were on commentary.

Leon Slater & Cedric Alexander defeated The Rascals (Trey Miguel & Zachary Wentz) (10:23)

Myron Reed, who is getting a title shot at the X-Division champion at Victory Road tomorrow night was on commentary. Miguel and Alexander exchanged chops, and Alexander hit a seated Miguel with a vicious dropkick to the back of the head. Miguel was double-teamed a lot in his opponents’ corner. Wentz got the tag and tried a pop-in lung blower, but Slater blocked it and kicked his opponent’s head. Slater got a near fall off a crossbody.

Wentz caught Slater with a handspring knee to take control. He got the tag to Miguel, who got a near fall off of a double team.  Alexander eventually got the tag and took out Wentz with a release German suplex. Wentz blocked the Lumbar Check but got dropped with a Minchioku Driver for a near fall. Slater got the tag and dove into a knee from Wentz. Wentz hit a crucifix driver (set up with a superkick from Miguel) for a near fall. Wentz and Alexander went over the top, and Slater  followed them out by hitting a dive on Wentz.

Back in the ring, Miguel caught Slater with a knee, and Wentz came off the top with a swanton for a near fall. The Rascals went for a double-team, but Alexander broke it up and started suplexing everyone like he was Brock Lesnar or something. Slater hit Miguel with a Swanton 450 and got the pinfall.

— Gia Miller interviewed Frankie Kazarian, who promised to make something out of Jake Something later tonight when they team up in the main event.

— On NXT Tuesday, TNA invaded and ruined the title for title match for the finish that literally everyone saw coming. ‘What happens next between TNA and NXT?” Probably TNA getting beaten down tomorrow night.

— Eric Young yelled at Santino Marella  in the parking lot, and Marella made the match between Joe Hendry and Young for tomorrow night.

Victoria Crawford defeated  Jody Threat (4:07)

Gia Miller apparently went to the TNA authorities and had Tessa Blanchard’s suspension lifted. Threat tossed Crawford to the mat with a Northern Lights suplex. Crawford looked terrible. Not everyone fired by WWE needs to be rescued by TNA. Crawford hit a boot for a near fall. Threat hit a bunch of chops and floored Crawford with a back elbow. Threat booted Crawford into the ropes and Crawford took a nasty bump into them. Threat dumped Crawford with a German suplex with Tessa Blanchard’s music played. Tessa returned and distracted Threat from the entrance stage. This allowed Crawford to hit an axe kick and get the pinfall.

— Joe Hendry gave a bit of backstory for his match with Eric Young tomorrow night at Victory Road.

— The System challenged Order 4 to leave both their factions in the back during tomorrow night’s Moose v. Mustafa Ali encounter.

Mance Warner won the Battle Royal to become #20 in the  Call Your Shot Gauntlet at Bound for Glory (6:17)

This is a battle royal to qualify for another battle royal. The winner will be #20 in the Call Your Shot Gauntlet at Bound for Glory.  The last person eliminated will be the first person in the gauntlet.  The match will have both men’s division and knockout’s division performers.

AJ Francis did some mic work on his way to the ring  and ran down his opponents. Rosemary gave him the mist and all the other competitors dumped Francis to the floor. Killer Kelly and Rosemary were eliminated. Ryan Nemeth eliminated Matt Cardona and The Home Town Man from the floor.  It was later clarified that Nemeth went “through the ropes” which is why he could eliminate people from the floor. Nemeth also helped eliminate  Xia Brookside from the floor. Léi Yǐng Lee lowbridged Nemeth to send him to the floor, leaving her one on one with Mance Warner. Warner booted Lee to the floor for the win.  I wondered if Gail Kim found all of that believable. This was every modern battle royal where two people did spots while everyone else sold like they were dead until it was their turn to do spots.

— Mickie James and The Beautiful People will be inducted in the TNA Hall of Fame at Bound for Glory.

— A hype video for Mike Santana on his road to Bound for Glory. They’re doing their best to make Santana a big deal.

The Final Negotiation. Santino Marella brought out the Hardys and Team 3D. The crowd chanted “This is awesome!” before anything happened. Matt called The Hardys and Team 3D the greatest tag teams of all time, and Matt kept putting both teams over. Bully Ray said TNA was a “hot company” because of the Hardys. Did the Hardys make the deal that made TNA the NXT b-show?  The fans chanted for a TLC match. The Hardys and Team 3D reminisced about all the times they nearly killed each other and openly wondered how Jeff was still alive. Bully Ray finally referred to his team as “The Dudley Boys” which got an ECW chant. The Hardys offer the Dudleys/Team 3D a shot at the TNA tag team title, which would make them “25 time tag team champions,” jumping ahead of all other tag teams in TNA. (I’d been assuming the titles were already on the line). Also the winner is the “greatest tag team of all time.” Bully and D-Von consult, and turn down the match. Again, I’m confused because I thought Bully Ray challenged The Hardys at the last ppv?  The crowd chanted “TLC!” and Bully Ray brings up that The Hardys beat them in “the first ever tag team tables match,” which was “their match.” The Dudleys don’t just want a title match, they want a tables match. The Hardys agreed to the stipulation. Marella wanted both sides to sign a contract (which wouldn’t have had the table stipulation in it), but D-Von ripped up the contract. Instead both teams agreed with a handshake. This was the best thing on the show.

— Mustafa Ali is tired of the disrespect and the System, and Ali accepted Moose’s challenge to leave everyone else in the back for their main event. Ali ups the ante by adding the stipulation that the winner of the match gets his team the advantage in upcoming “Hardcore War” match at Bound for Glory. The System burst onto the scene and both sides stare each other down.

Countdown to Victory Road (8:30 EST start):

  • Cedric Alexander v. Trey Miguel v. Zachary Wentz
  • AJ Francis has Matt Hardy on the First Class Penthouse

Victory Road (9:00 EST start):

  • Moose v. Mustafa Ali,  winner gets the advantage in Hardcore War
  • Hometown Man & Matt Cardona v. The Nemeths
  • Mike Santana v. NXT’s Ridge Holland
  • The Elegance Brand v. THe IInspiration for the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Titles
  • Joe Hendry v. Eric Young
  • Steve Maclin v. Frankie Kazarian for the International Title
  • Leon Slater v. Myron Reed for the X-Division Title

No mention of the Knockouts World Title or the TNA World Champion on the card? This show is lacking a main event.

Steve Maclin & Mr. Ken Anderson defeated  Frankie Kazarian & Jake Something (16:40)

Anderson tried the bit where they lowered the microphone, but I guess they left the microphone at the Impact Zone. Maclin improvised lowering the. mic from above Anderson’s head by standing behind him on a steel chair. Anderson honestly looked winded doing the “MR. ANDERSONNNNN!” gimmick, but they went to a commercial so he could catch his breath before the match started.

Something started out with Maclin and it didn’t go well for Something. Kazarian got the tag and the crowd chanted for Anderson. Anderson tagged in and squared off with Kazarian. Anderson took it to Kazarian, who made Anderson look good by bumping all over the place. Anderson and Maclin double-teamed Kazarian, and they sent both Kazarian and Something to the floor.

Back in the ring,  Anderson and Maclin worked over Kazarian, until Kazarian caught Anderson with a face rake. This allowed the heels to take control. Something came in without making the tag and Hannifan freaked out on commentary. Kazarian hit a jumping leg drop for a near fall. Kazarian hit a snap suplex for another near fall. Something drew Maclin in the ring to allow another phantom tag, and Hannifan threw another fit on commentary. Kazarian worked Anderson over with a chinlock.

Anderson got the hot tag and Maclin took the fight to Something. Maclin hit a running knee on Kazarian and sent him down with a German suplex. Maclin hung Something upside down in the corner and charged, but Something avoided it. Kazarian floored Maclin with a clothesline. Something dropped Maclin with a short-arm clothesline. Maclin fought his way out of a chinlock and both men knocked each other down. After Anderson and Kazarian were tagged in, Kazarian went for the chicken wing. Anderson countered with a Green Bay Plunge for a near fall. Anderson went for his finish (the Mic Check), but Kazarian escaped.

Anderson countered a Fade to Black attempt from Kazarian and hit the Mic Check, but Something broke up the pin attempt. Something and Maclin brawled. Kazarian hit a back sapper and a sliding lariat on Anderson, then got a near fall off a springboard leg drop. The crowd was fully behind Anderson. Kazarian went for the Chicken Wing again, but Anderson countered into his own Chicken Wing. Something broke that up and got backdropped to the floor. Maclin got the tag, took out Something with a dive, then dropped Kazarian with an Olympic Slam. Everyone brawled in the ring again, and the babyface sent the heels into each other. Anderson hit Something with the Mic Check, and Maclin hit Kazarian with the KIA for the pinfall.

TNA Impact live results: Mike Santana vs. Joe Hendry

The fallout from last Sunday’s newsworthy TNA Slammiversary has arrived with tonight’s live edition of Impact from Kingston, Rhode Island.

After they both failed to defeat TNA World Champion Trick Williams, Mike Santana and Joe Hendry will go one-on-one.

New Knockouts Champion & NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne will be on hand to celebrate her new double champion status.

After winning the X-Division Champion by unseating Moose and being put over by AJ Styles, Leon Slater will address what’s next.

The Elegance Brand left Slammiversary victorious and still Knockouts Tag Team Champions. They now head into trios action against The IInspiration and a mystery partner.

After failing to defeat the Fourth Rope crew Sunday, Mance Warner and Jake Something will come to blows in a no DQ match.

Hulk Hogan Tribute Kicks Things Off

This week’s special live episode of TNA Impact kicks off with a black and white “In memory of” graphic honoring Hulk Hogan. The voice of Tom Hannifan is heard announcing the unfortunate news, and then the show settles inside the Impact Zone where fans are chanting “USA! USA!”

Santino Marella, Masha Slamovich Open The Show

Following an extended video package recapping TNA Slammiversary 2025 from this past weekend, the show officially gets underway with the “Cross the Line” theme song and accompanying intro video. A shot of the Ryan Center is shown as Hannifan officially introduces the show.

Fans are loudly chanting “TNA! TNA!” as the camera settles inside the building. Santino Marella’s theme hits and the TNA Director of Authority emerges to get the show started. Santino addresses the top male and female titles in TNA being held by NXT stars.

“So lemme tell you something brothers …and sisters,” he says, in a clear not-so-subtle tip-of-the-cap to the late ‘Hulkster.’ As he continues to talk, the entrance tune for Masha Slamovich hits. The former TNA Knockouts Champion makes her way out.

Slamovich settles in the ring and gets on the mic, telling Santino she’s not out here to thank him for his pep talk. She’s out here to get what is rightfully hers. She says Jacy Jane stole what should be hers at TNA Slammiversary.

She demands her contractually obligated rematch next week. Santino green lights it. Off she goes, as Santino formally announces “Masha Slamovich vs. Jesse Jane for the TNA Knockouts World Championship.”

The System, Trick Williams & First Class, Order 4 Ready For War

As Slamovich is heading to the back, the theme for The System hits to bring out Moose, JDC, Brian Myers, Eddie Edwards and Alisha Edwards. Eddie shakes hands with Santino and begins first on the microphone. Eddie says The System fights for what they believe in.

He claims at TNA Slammiversary, they weren’t representing The System, they were representing the locker room and TNA as a whole. He said they sent Darkstate packing back to WWE NXT. The crowd cheers and breaks out in another “TNA! TNA!” chant.

Eddie talks about doing everything he can for a long time to help this company. He says there was a time he held this company down selfishly, but those days are over. He vows to not let any outsiders disrespect them.

Myers continues, saying the three letters T-N-A mean everything to The System. He says TNA isn’t a little pit-stop in their wrestling careers. It’s their home. JDC gets a turn on the stick next. He tells Santino if TNA is going to war, they’ll be their soldiers.

He hands the mic off to Moose, who brings up accomplishing almost everything in TNA. At this point in his career it’s not about titles. It’s about building a legacy that makes his name synonymous with TNA, just like “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles.

Moose goes on to give Leon Slater props once again for earning the right to call himself the youngest TNA X-Division Champion in company history. He sees him taking the division to new heights. He says that brings him to his next point, the TNA World Championship.

He says others are calling themselves the ‘face of TNA,’ and he’s seen many people come and go, just like Eddie Edwards has, who have said the same thing. He says Eddie is the heart and soul of TNA. He says they’ve been waving the TNA flag and carrying the company on their backs through thick-and-thin.

Moose says he knows what he must now do next. It’s as easy as three words. “Whoop that Trick.” Right on cue, the drumroll hits and the theme for the TNA World Champion hits. Out comes the WWE NXT Superstar Trick Williams accompanied by First Class.

Trick goes on to call out Moose for mumbling his words while trying to call him out. He says to be clear, this is his house now. “I’m the man who took out the average Joe.” He boasts being the same man who also took out Mike Santana and brought TNA the largest attendance of all-time.

“This is Trick-N-A,” he adds. He tells Moose he doesn’t care if he’s on a mission, repping The System or playing for the Detroit Pistons. He can’t mess with Trick, “let’s talk about it!” Moose tells Trick to wobble his ass down here “with Uncle Phil and Pink” and The System will show them how they do things in TNA.

On that note, the entrance tune for Order 4 hits and out comes Mustafa Ali, Tasha Steelz and The Great Hands duo of John Skyler and Jason Hotch. Ali tells “Mr. Williams” that they shouldn’t talk about it. He mentions burying his ass like his name is The Undertaker as he and Order 4 walk past him.

Ali demands “the citizens of TNA” in the Impact Zone rise and give him proper applause. As he finishes his statement while entering the ring, he and Order 4 are attacked by The System. The two groups brawl as Trick and First Class are shown laughing and enjoying it on the stage.

The show heads to a commercial break. When the show returns, Santino Marella is backstage with The System, when Matt Cardona walks up. He talks about faction warfare with three groups and says they have to settle this.

The Elegance Brand (Ash By Elegance, Heather By Elegance & M By Elegance) (w/ George Iceman) vs. The IInspiration (Cassie Lee & Jessie McKay) & Mara Sade

Inside the Impact Zone, George Iceman talks some trash on the mic to the crowd before personally introducing the TNA Knockouts Tag-Team Champions The Elegance Brand. Out comes the entire trio of Ash By Elegance, Heather By Elegance and M By Elegance.

From there, The IInspiration duo of Cassie Lee and Jessie McKay make their way out. They settle in the ring as the crowd and commentary team await the arrival of their mystery partner. The theme for Mara Sade, formerly known as Jakara Jackson, hits and out she comes.

A brawl between all six kicks things off. As The Elegance Brand settles into the early offensive lead, the show shifts gears and heads into an early mid-match commercial break. When the show returns, Ash and the rest of the Elegance Brand are keeping Lee isolated on their side of the ring.

Eventually, Lee makes the much-needed tag. This leads to Mara Slade helping out en route to The IInspiration hitting their double-team IIdolizer finisher for the pinfall victory. The three celebrate together after the match.

Match Result: The IInspiration & Mara Slade defeated The Elegance Brand

TNA Injury Report Presented By Bioflex

Tom Hannifan narrates a new TNA Injury Report presented by Bioflex. We learn that TNA interviewer Gia Miller suffered multiple bruises and a minor head injury as a result of the attack by Tessa Blanchard, who is suspended indefinitely as a result. Miller is under medical observation and will be sidelined while recovering.

Moose suffered a hip injury during his TNA X-Division Championship loss to Leon Slater at TNA Slammiversary. His status is day-to-day as he is being monitored by TNA medical staff.

Finally, KC Navarro reaggravated a previous knee injury during the four-way tag-team title ladder match at TNA Slammiversary.

Indi Hartwell And ‘Not Her Mentor’ Victoria Crawford

Backstage, Mike Santana avoids questions about coming up short at TNA Slammiversary. Indi Hartwell is interviewed, when Victoria Crawford and Dani Luna get involved in the mix and a match is suggested.

Crawford, calling herself Hartwell’s mentor, goes off to find Santino to make said-match. Hartwell insists Crawford is not her mentor. The show heads into another commercial break.

Eric Young Wants To ‘Cleanse’ TNA

The show returns to Eric Young with The Northern Armory talking like a crazy man about wanting to do what’s necessary to “cleanse TNA.” Tom Hannifan questions what in the world that could mean. The show then moves on.

Leon Slater & The Hardys & Steve Maclin Talk

Inside the Impact Zone, the youngest TNA X-Division Champion of all-time, Leon Slater, is introduced. He makes his way to the ring as highlights of AJ Styles singing his praises at TNA Slammiversary are shown. He settles in the ring and gets on the microphone.

Slater tells the fans chanting his name and “You deserve it!” that they are far too kind. He talks about making history and how he respects Moose for how he has handled things. He vows to bring the TNA X-Division Championship to new heights.

He asks The Hardys to come out. They do. Matt Hardy talks about there being a special energy in the building tonight and in TNA in general. He sings the praises of Leon Slater, and then Jeff Hardy does the same. Steve Maclin’s theme hits and out he comes.

Maclin talks about being ready for war after outsiders infiltrate TNA regularly. He then praises Slater for being the future and calls The Hardys his peers and mentors and the greatest tag-team of all-time. “And then well, you got me.”

They claim that the four of them are ready to represent TNA in war. From there, they alll hold their respective titles up in the air together to end things. The show heads to another commercial break on that note.

No Disqualification Match
Mance Warner (w/ Steph De Lander) vs. Jake Something

The show returns from the break live inside the Impact Zone as Mance Warner’s theme song plays. Out he comes accompanied by Steph De Lander for advertised No Disqualification action against Jake Something. He settles in the ring and poses.

Music for his opponent plays, and Jake Something runs down the ramp, is met by Warner in the aisle, and the two immediately get after it. In the ring, Warner takes over and begins beating Something down with a steel chair and trash can lid.

De Lander continues feeding chairs and other weapons inside the ring. Something whacks Warner with one of them that knocks him to the floor. He builds up a full head of steam and sprints to the ropes for a dive, but dives right into a chair shot from Warner.

As Matthew Rehwoldt points out, De Lander feeds Warner a “sledgehammer and a smooch” as the action resumes in the ring. He misses on the former, however, leading to Something blasting Warner. Something’s arm appears to be bothering him pretty bad.

Regardless, Something heads out after Warner on the floor, stopping to pull out a black sack full of thumbtacks. He pours them all over the ringside area on the floor. He looks for a chokeslam, but Warner fights his way free. Something hits a back-suplex into them. Counter-productive?

Something is up first, because 100 tacks in your body doesn’t hurt as much when you initiate the slam onto them. Back in the ring, Something hits a follow-up Blackhole Slam and gets the win to put an end to the violence. The show heads to another break.

Match Result: Jake Something defeated Mance Warner

Jacy Jane Ready To Raise The Bar

The show returns to the sounds of Jacy Jane’s theme music. The double women’s champion makes her way out with the WWE NXT Women’s Championship and the TNA Knockouts World Champion.

She cuts a quick promo about making history and raising the bar. She mentions her contractually obligated rematch against Masha Slamovich on next week’s show and tells everyone to take a picture of perfection.

The Great Hands (John Skyler & Jason Hotch) (w/ Mustafa Ali & Tasha Steelz) vs. Matt Cardona & Brian Myers (w/ Alisha Edwards)

The show returns to the sounds of the Order 4 theme song. Out comes Mustafa Ali and Tasha Steelz with The Secret Service guys in suits lining the aisle, as The Great Hands team of John Skyler and Jason Hotch make their way to the ring for tag-team action.

Out next are their opponents, “The Complete” Matt Cardona and The System’s Brian Myers, accompanied by Alisha Edwards. The bell sounds and off we go. Cardona and Myers take it to Hotch early on. Myers settles into the offensive lead.

As the action continues, Ali tries to get involved, but is stopped. Steelz tries to get involved, but Alisha stops her. A giant member of The Secret Service for Ali hits the ring. The massive man chokeslams his way into an assisted victory, as The Great Hands follow up with the pin. We head to another break.

Match Result: The Great Hands defeated Matt Cardona & Brian Myers

Mike Santana vs. Joe Hendry

It’s main event time!

When the show returns, we see Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt on camera at ringside getting ready to call the final match of this week’s special live, post-Slammiversary episode of TNA Impact in Kingston, Rhode Island.

Before they can do so, however, they are joined by an unwelcome guest in the form of self-proclaimed “King of TNA” Frankie Kazarian. Security ends up coming out and escorting him to the back when he is ejected before anything happens.

Mike Santana’s theme hits and after a quick glance at him backstage in his gear, pacing side-to-side, he begins his walk through the crowd and to the ring. He settles inside to a good reaction from the Rhode Island crowd.

The viral smash hit, “I Believe in Joe Hendry” is the next thing to hit the house speakers, as Joe Hendry himself emerges and makes his way to the ring. A side-to-side wave-led crowd interaction is followed by the soap opera-style dramatic turn to close out his fan-friendly ring walk.

Before the bell sounds, the show heads to a quick pre-match commercial break. During the break, Frankie Kazarian tries bullying his way back out. He is stopped by Hendry on one side of the floor. He tries walking around to the other, but Santana stops him.

After security runs down and forces him to the back again, the show returns from break and the bell sounds to get things officially off-and-running. The match starts off with Hendry attempting a sportsmanlike shake of hands.

Santana plays to the crowd before deciding, and afterwards, the two finally get after it. Santana starts off strong, but it isn’t long before Hendry takes over and settles into a prolonged run of offensive control. Hendry is dominating, but can’t find a way to finish Santana off.

As the action continues, the show shifts gears and settles into the final mid-match commercial break of the evening. When the show returns, Hendry is blasting Santana with European uppercuts, but Santana explodes off the ropes with a clothesline to shift the momentum.

Santana goes for the Rolling Buck-50, but Hendry avoids it and seconds later, catches Santana with a picture-perfect cutter. Both guys are down and slow to recover as the referee begins his double count. Hendry hits an Olympic slam for a close two-count.

After the two each try their finishers, and an insane amount of back-and-forth pin attempts and roll-ups, it is Santana who pulls things off after avoiding a Razor’s Edge from Hendry. He picks up the 1-2-3 and the win.

He and Hendry go nose-to-nose and Hendry shakes his hand and walks off. Santana celebrates as Hannifan takes the show off the air. That’s how things wrap up.

Match Result: Mike Santana defeated Joe Hendry

Moose injured at TNA Slammiversary

Add injury to insult for Moose coming out of this past Sunday’s TNA Slammiversary.

Moose lost his X-Division title to Leon Slater on the show, ending a title run that began in October 2024, lasted 267 days, and encompassed 18 successful title defenses.

According to our Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio, Moose got hurt early during the match on a flip dive spot from the apron to the floor. Alvarez noted that he “bounced” off the ringside mat and still got right up, but had to work the rest of the match hurt, forcing them to cut out some spots. The injury appears to be back-related.

The extent of the injury and whether it will keep the 41-year-old out of action is unknown as of now. He was not announced as part of tonight’s live TNA Impact card.

Thursday’s TNA Impact lineup | Kingston, Rhode Island:

  • Joe Hendry vs. Mike Santana
  • Jacy Jayne double championship celebration
  • Leon Slater appearance
  • The Elegance Brand (Ash, Heather & M) vs. The IInspiration (Cassie Lee & Jessie McKay) and a mystery partner
  • Jake Something vs. Mance Warner in a no DQ match

AJ Styles appears at TNA Slammiversary, addresses new champion

For the first time in more than 11 years, AJ Styles made his return to a TNA ring as part of Sunday’s Slammiversary pay-per-view.

The current WWE star appeared after Leon Slater defeated Moose for the X-Division title, putting over Slater as the youngest X-Division champion in company history.

Coming out to his TNA era music, Styles said there was one point where he was told he may never come back and that the lights are a little bit brighter now, the noise is a little bit louder now, and the talent is better than it’s ever been. He then told Slater that he didn’t deserve the X-Division title. Rather, he earned it.

Styles talked about his past and ran down a list of former X-Division champions, saying they were the foundation but that Slater is the future and made history tonight. Now, he needs to make his legacy.

Styles got a “one last match” chant, but said he would talk about that at a different time. He last wrestled in the company back in December 2013.

Slater’s win gives him his first TNA title of any kind and ends the 267-day reign of Moose that dates back to October 2024. He had 18 successful title defenses in his first run with the gold.

TNA reveals Matt Hardy’s partner for Under Siege Tag Team title match

Matt Hardy has found a partner for his Tag Team title challenge at TNA Under Siege.

At the TNA+ special, Hardy will team up with Leon Slater against champions Nic & Ryan Nemeth. The Nemeths won the TNA Tag Team titles from The Hardy Boyz at Rebellion, but Jeff Hardy is unable to compete at Under Siege due to the show taking place in Canada, where he cannot wrestle because of past legal trouble.

An angle took place on Impact last week where The Nemeths — knowing that Jeff couldn’t cross the border — mockingly told The Hardys they would give them a rematch at Under Siege. TNA authority figure Santino Marella then told The Nemeths that they would have to defend their titles against Matt Hardy and a partner of his choosing. Matt has enlisted the help of the 20-year-old Slater, a Hardy ally who is being mentored by him and Jeff.

Slater, a UK indie star, has been signed to TNA Wrestling since late 2023. He made headlines at Rebellion last month for a high-risk 450 splash spot where his fellow Ultimate X competitors failed to catch him. Slater was not seriously hurt despite the rough landing. Moose won the match to retain the X-Division Championship.

The CAA Centre in Brampton, Ontario, Canada is hosting Under Siege on Friday, May 23. Here is the updated lineup:

  • Joe Hendry & Elijah vs. Trick Williams & Frankie Kazarian
  • Knockouts World Champion Masha Slamovich defends against Victoria Crawford (the former Alicia Fox)
  • TNA Tag Team Champions Nic Nemeth & Ryan Nemeth defend against Matt Hardy & Leon Slater
  • Eddie Edwards vs. Cody Deaner (Deaner will receive a new TNA contract if he wins)

Pre-show match added to TNA Genesis

A new match announcement has been made for TNA Genesis 2025.

The pay-per-view is being held in Garland, Texas this Sunday night. TNA announced today that, on the pre-show broadcast, Frankie Kazarian vs. Leon Slater will take place. The pre-show has a start time of 7 p.m. Eastern airing for free on TNA’s digital platforms. It will also be shown in Canada on Sportsnet 360.

Kazarian vs. Slater was set up by a backstage interaction on a recent episode of Impact. Saying he sees something special in Slater, Kazarian offered to mentor him. But Slater turned the offer down after Kazarian wanted Slater to run errands for him.

The two faced off on a UK tour for TNA in 2023, where Slater earned a long-term contract with the promotion. Kazarian won both of the matches they had.

Though this bout is happening on the pre-show, Kazarian could potentially play a role in the World title picture at Genesis. He holds the Call Your Shot gauntlet trophy and is able to cash it in for a title shot of his choosing. Kazarian has said he’ll be keeping an eye on the main event of the PPV with Nic Nemeth defending the TNA World Championship against Joe Hendry.

Here is the updated Genesis lineup:

TNA Genesis 2025 (Sunday, January 19) —

  • TNA World Champion Nic Nemeth defends against Joe Hendry
  • Clockwork Orange House of Fun match: TNA Knockouts World Champion Masha Slamovich defends against Rosemary
  • Jordynne Grace vs. Tessa Blanchard
  • TNA Tag Team Champions The Hardys (Matt & Jeff Hardy) defend against The Rascalz (Zachary Wentz & Trey Miguel)
  • TNA X-Division Champion Moose defends against Ace Austin
  • Mike Santana vs. Josh Alexander
  • TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champions Jody Threat & Dani Luna defend against Ash By Elegance & Heather By Elegance
  • Pre-show: Frankie Kazarian vs. Leon Slater

Big Vinny V: The positives & negatives from the latest TNA Impact

Image: TNA

It’s Tuesday and a TNA pay-per-view week, so it’s time for a new Big Vinny V episode.

The positives of TNA Impact this past week: “Speedball” Mike Bailey and Leon Slater had an excellent X-Division title match, and the Mike Santana vs. Moose program is heating up.

The negatives: Bound For Glory, the promotion’s biggest show of the year, is just around the corner, but the title matches on that show — World Champion Nic Nemeth vs. Joe Hendry; Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace vs. Masha Slamovich; and a three-way Tag Team title match — are cold as a Detroit winter and only getting colder.

Let’s get into it on this week’s Big Vinny V!

Leon Slater signs long-term contract with TNA Wrestling

One of the United Kingdom’s top up-and-coming wrestlers has signed a contract with TNA Wrestling.

At Impact Wrestling’s UK Invasion tour show in Coventry on Saturday, it was announced that the 19-year-old Leon Slater has signed a long-term contract with TNA. Slater made his Impact Wrestling debut on night one of the tour this past Thursday.

Slater signed his TNA contract in the ring at Saturday’s show. He faced Frankie Kazarian at the event.

Earlier this month, Slater was crowned the winner of Revolution Pro Wrestling’s British J-Cup tournament. He also made his NJPW debut this month, competing at Royal Quest III in London. IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Clark Connors & Drilla Moloney retained their titles against Slater & Cameron Khai.

TNA Wrestling will make its return starting with Hard to Kill 2024 in January. The name changed was revealed at the end of Impact’s Bound for Glory pay-per-view last weekend.

It was announced this Tuesday that PCO has signed a new contract to remain with TNA. That was touted as the first signing of the new era of TNA Wrestling.
