TNA Under Siege notes: Spitfire disbands, Cody Deaner, Raj Singh

Here are some notes coming out of Friday’s TNA Under Siege.

Spitfire (Dani Luna & Jody Threat) failed to win the Knockouts Tag Team titles from Ash & Heather by Elegance on Friday after Ash defeated Threat with the rarified air (swanton) after sending Luna through a table. Per the stipulations of the title match, Spitfire must now split up as a team.

Cody Deaner failed to win a TNA contract, losing to Eddie Edwards in a match where if he won, he would officially join the TNA roster. Alisha Edwards was the deciding factor, low blowing Deaner and giving Eddie Edwards the opportunity to strike with the Boston knee party for the win.

After the match, the rest of The System came out to mock Deaner for his loss and also insulted Canada. That brought out The Northern Armory to issue a challenge leading Eric Young, Judas Icarus, and Travis Williams to defeat Moose, Brian Myers, and JDC.

Raj Singh ended up replacing Ace Austin in a six-man tag team match pitting Order 4 (Mustafa Ali, Tasha Steelz, John Skyler, and Jason Hotch) against Indi Hartwell, The Rascalz, and Singh, who came out and cut a promo saying Ali was a narcissist with a God complex and everything he’s said is nothing more than him “being full of s***.” Ali ended up getting the win, hitting the 450 splash on the former Campaign Singh.

During an injury report update, TNA said that as a result of Mustafa Ali injuring Austin’s knee on Impact, he would be out of action “indefinitely.” It was reported on Thursday that Austin was leaving TNA due to his contract expiring.

TNA Under Siege card finalized

TNA has finalized the card for Friday’s Under Siege special streaming on TNA Plus.

In a new bout for the pre-show, Rosemary and Xia Brookside will go one-on-one in the Knockouts division.

The Knockouts Tag title match on the show also has two new stipulations added, with Spitfire being forced to disband if they fail to capture the titles from Heather and Ash by Elegance, plus the match will take place under no DQ and falls count anywhere rules.

New matches added to TNA Under Siege

Four new matches are set for the Friday, May 23 TNA Under Siege event to stream on TNA Plus.

Tessa Blanchard will take on WWE NXT’s Arianna Grace at Under Siege in a new match officially announced during this week’s Impact episode. Blanchard and Grace ae playing into the storyline rivalry between Grace’s father and TNA authority figure Santino Marella, with WWE NXT authority figure Mr. Stone siding with Blanchard. Marella will be in Grace’s corner at Under Siege, with Stone in Blanchard’s corner.

The Knockouts Tag Team titles will also be on the line on May 23, with Ash by Elegance and Heather by Elegance defending against former champs Jody Threat and Dani Luna of Spitfire.

In another new match added, Mike Santana will face AJ Francis at Under Siege with the winner potentially in line for a shot at the TNA World title.

Rounding out the new additions, Matt Cardona became the number one contender to the TNA International title with a win on Thursday’s Impact and will challenge Steve Maclin for the title at Under Siege.

Under Siege streams live on the TNA Plus app on Friday, May 23. The updated lineup is listed below.

TNA Under Siege, Friday, May 23 —

  • Joe Hendry & Elijah vs. Trick Williams & Frankie Kazarian
  • Knockouts World Champion Masha Slamovich defends against Victoria Crawford (the former Alicia Fox)

TNA reveals Matt Hardy’s partner for Under Siege Tag Team title match

Matt Hardy has found a partner for his Tag Team title challenge at TNA Under Siege.

At the TNA+ special, Hardy will team up with Leon Slater against champions Nic & Ryan Nemeth. The Nemeths won the TNA Tag Team titles from The Hardy Boyz at Rebellion, but Jeff Hardy is unable to compete at Under Siege due to the show taking place in Canada, where he cannot wrestle because of past legal trouble.

An angle took place on Impact last week where The Nemeths — knowing that Jeff couldn’t cross the border — mockingly told The Hardys they would give them a rematch at Under Siege. TNA authority figure Santino Marella then told The Nemeths that they would have to defend their titles against Matt Hardy and a partner of his choosing. Matt has enlisted the help of the 20-year-old Slater, a Hardy ally who is being mentored by him and Jeff.

Slater, a UK indie star, has been signed to TNA Wrestling since late 2023. He made headlines at Rebellion last month for a high-risk 450 splash spot where his fellow Ultimate X competitors failed to catch him. Slater was not seriously hurt despite the rough landing. Moose won the match to retain the X-Division Championship.

The CAA Centre in Brampton, Ontario, Canada is hosting Under Siege on Friday, May 23. Here is the updated lineup:

  • Joe Hendry & Elijah vs. Trick Williams & Frankie Kazarian
  • Knockouts World Champion Masha Slamovich defends against Victoria Crawford (the former Alicia Fox)
  • TNA Tag Team Champions Nic Nemeth & Ryan Nemeth defend against Matt Hardy & Leon Slater
  • Eddie Edwards vs. Cody Deaner (Deaner will receive a new TNA contract if he wins)

Matt Hardy and a mystery partner to challenge for TNA Tag titles

The TNA Tag Team Championship will be on the line at Under Siege — with a twist.

Tag Team Champions Nic Nemeth and Ryan Nemeth issued a challenge to Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy for a title match at the Under Siege TNA Plus special on this week’s Impact, with full knowledge that Jeff is unable to compete in Canada due to legal reasons.

TNA authority figure Santino Marella called them on their bluff and made a Tag title bout official for Under Siege, with The Nemeths to defend against Matt Hardy and a mystery partner of his choosing.

Four matches are now official for the Under Siege special. The show will stream on TNA Plus on Friday, May 23. The lineup to this point is listed below.

TNA Under Siege, Friday, May 23 on TNA Plus —

  • TNA World Champion Joe Hendry and Elijah vs. Trick Williams and Frankie Kazarian
  • Knockouts World Champion Masha Slamovich defends against Victoria Crawford
  • TNA Tag Team Champions Nic Nemeth and Ryan Nemeth defend against Matt Hardy and a mystery partner
  • Eddie Edwards vs. Cody Deaner — Deaner must leave TNA with a loss

Former Alicia Fox to make TNA in-ring debut at Under Siege

The wrestler formerly known as Alicia Fox will make her TNA in-ring debut in a Knockouts World title match at Under Siege.

TNA announced the first matches for its Friday, May 23 Under Siege TNA Plus special during Thursday’s live Impact episode, including Fox, now going by Victoria Crawford, making her in-ring debut for the company and challenging Masha Slamovich for the Knockouts World Championship.

Crawford appeared on Impact alongside WWE NXT authority figure Robert Stone, who announced that he had been appointed to monitor the performance of TNA director of authority Santino Marella. Stone introduced Crawford as the company’s new deputy director of authority, then booked her in a title match against Slamovich at Under Siege.

Crawford appeared on the Unbreakable event on April 18 in her first appearance for TNA, briefly mixing it up with Slamovich at that show in an angle at ringside.

Also announced for Under Siege, Cody Deaner’s TNA career will be on the line in a one-on-one match against The System’s Eddie Edwards. Should Deaner lose, he must leave TNA.

A tag team bout is also set for the show, with TNA World Champion Joe Hendry teaming with Elijah against Frankie Kazarian and WWE NXT’s Trick Williams.
