The Dudleys hand their wrestling boots to The Hardys at TNA Bound for Glory

It was the last time for the Hardy Boyz and The Dudleys on Sunday.

In the co-main event of TNA Bound for Glory, The Hardys and The Dudleys met in what was billed as a One Final Table match. Brother Runt, aka Spike Dudley, accompanied the Dudleyz to the ring as they were identified by both their WWE and TNA names, wearing their WWE gear and glasses.

The first to be eliminated was Jeff Hardy after the Dudleys put Jeff through a table with a 3D. Jeff retaliated by putting D-Von through a table after hitting a swanton bomb off a ladder. This left the Hardys to go after Bubba Ray, who attempted to remain in the match but the Hardys whittled him down with chair shots. Bubba struggled to get to his feet and ultimately gave up, allowing himself to be put through a table by both Hardys to give them the win.

After the match, the Hardys were given their NXT and TNA Tag Team titles by TNA President Carlos Silva as the Dudleyz recovered. Both teams hugged as the Hardys started to leave. However, the Dudleyz stopped them and started to take off their boots, giving them to the Hardys as a sign of their retirement. Both teams embraced as The Dudleys made their exit, allowing The Hardys to celebrate back in the ring.

The two teams are best known for their rivalry dating back to 2000 when they, alongside Edge & Christian, battled in the first TLC matches in WWE history.

**********

Pre show.

There was a modest set-up for the Hall of Fame inductions, with a small podium in the back of the arena so it looked like they were surrounded by fans.

Tommy Dreamer inducts the Beautiful People into the TNA Hall of Fame. Dreamer is accompanied by Jazz and TNA President Carlos Silva. Dreamer is here to induct the Beautiful People despite being ugly because Billy Gunn was unavailable. Dreamer quickly brought out Angelina Love & Velvet Sky, who put a paper bag over Tommy’s head. This is a full-circle moment for the Beautiful People, who debuted at Bound for Glory in 2007. Love thanked all the women who were in the “Gauntlet for the Gold” match in 2007, and her trainer. She also thanked her trainer, Tommy Dreamer for hiring her (she was his first hire), and “Cute Kip” (aka Billy Gunn). She also thanked The Jarrett Family and Vince Russo, the composer who created their entrance music, and all the production people. Love introduced her family to the crowd and thanked them her support. She apparently bit her sister to get the remote back when she tried to change the channel from wrestling (wish I’d thought of that). She thanked the fans and her partner Velvet Sky, and turned the podium over to her.

Velvet Sky also thanked all the people behind the scenes, and again noted it was a full circle moment for her having gotten her start at Bound for Glory. She also thanked Dreamer and Terry Taylor, Jeff Jarrett and Vince Russo, Jeremy Borash, Mikey Tenay, Don West and Taz. She thanked her parents for their support when she left college to chase her dream as a pro wrestler, her trainer Jason Knight. She thanked Afa and his family for inviting her to wrestle on her WXW shows, where she won her first wrestling championship. Sky also thanked her partner, and told the young girls out there to never stop chasing their dreams. She thanked her extended family and the fans, her “Pigeon Army.” She led the crowd in a chant of “Let the pigeons loose!” to end her speech.

Lisa Marie Varon inducts Mickie James into the TNA Hall of Fame. Varon, who was very emotional,  brought out a copy of the TNA Knockouts Championship. Varon wanted to be comfortable so she tossed her heels into the crowd. Varon threw her speech away and spoke from the heart about how James came into WWE “like a Tennessee Tornado.” They did whatever it took to prove that they weren’t just the best match “for a women’s match” but for the best match, period. Varon described James as a friend that is there, who shows up.  Varon described Mickie James as a role model “not just in wrestling, but in life.” Honestly, even though she was very emotional,  you couldn’t have asked for a better induction from Varon.

The crowd chanted “you deserve it!” for Mickie. James described TNA as “a family.” She thanked Jeff and Jerry Jarrett for taking a chance on “Alexis Laree” and thanked Raven, Julio and CM Park for her early days in TNA (the weekly-ppv days). That was her launching pad to WWE. She then thanked Dixie Carter for convincing her to come back to TNA in 2010 and reinvent herself as “Hardcore Country.” She praised TNA as a company in 2010 who didn’t just give women four minute matches, but main events. James got emotional talking about her last TNA run, how she came into a locker room feeling defeated but left feeling vindicated. She praised the loyalty of the TNA fanbase and the “Hardcore Country” fanbase. James thanked her parents for instilling her love for wrestling and not to listen to the naysayers who are afraid to go after your dreams. For her haters, fakers, and under-appreciators, she finished with the lyrics from her “Hardcore Country” song.

WWE could learn something from TNA about keeping these things short and to the point.

Tom Hannifan & Matthew Rehwoldt were on commentary for the pre-show match.

The IInspiration (Cassie Lee & Jessie McKay) v. The Elegance Brand (M & Heather) (w/ The Personal Concierge)  for the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Title (4:37)

Ash walked out with the Elegance Brand but adjourned to the back for the match. Heather and M jumped the IInspiration before the bell. M hit a Van Terminator style coast-to-coast dropkick on Cassie for a  near fall. M tied Lee up in a bow-and arrow type move to allow Heather to come off the top with a double stop for another near fall.

Finally, McCay got the tag and ran wild on her opponents. She threw Ashley into M, then hit M with a boot so she DDT’d her partner. McCay caught a pump kick from M but kicked out  at two. McKay ducked a shot from Ashley, who hit her partner. Then the IInspiration finished off M with the Idolizer and Lee got the pinfall.

After the match, TNA President Carlos Silva presented the IInspiration with their tag team title belts.

Bound for Glory!

The US Marines from “Recruiting Station Boston” present the colors and the National Anthem is played.

Steve Maclin defeated Frankie Kazarian to regain the TNA International Title (7:58)

The anthem and the Marines led right into Steve Maclin’s entrance for the opening match, so it would have been booking malpractice for him not to win the title back. Maclin also has his mother and other friends and family at ringside.

Maclin started off fast against Kazarian. Kazarian caught Maclin with a guillotine legdrop, then hit him with a sunset bomb to the floor. This was barely a minute into the match. Kazarian sent Maclin into the steel stairs, then got into Maclin’s mother’s face. Kazarian offered mom a free shot, and she gave him a double bird instead. Maclin jumped Kazarian tossed him back into the ring.

Back in the ring, Maclin Kazarian with a  Thez press. Maclin escaped a chicken wing attempt and caught Kazarian with an olympic slam. Maclin hung Kazarian into the ropes for a shoulder block. Kaz tried to duck it, but Maclin went for a chicken wing. Kazarian countered that into a cradle, but got caught using the ropes and the ref stopped her count. Kazarian tried for a springboard, but Maclin pulled him into a Boston Crab, that he refused to break right away.

Kazarian hit a Pelé kick and the Angle’s Wings for a near fall since stealing people’s moves is all the rage this weekend. Kazarian tried to go for an avalanche Fade to Black, but Maclin broke that up by biting Kazarian. Kazarian dodged a top rope headbutt, then caught Maclin with a cutter for a near fall. Kazarian hung Maclin upside down for a running shoulder block, but Maclin escaped, hung up Kazarian and hit him with the shoulder block. Maclin hit the KIA and got the pinfall to regain the championship.

After the match, Maclin and his mother celebrated the title victory by flipping off the camera.

— Hannifan and Rehwoldt ran down the card.  When Hannifan and Rehwoldt were running down the card, the only match that got a notable pop was Hardys/Team 3D.

— Trick Williams and his lawyer ran down the why he wears his championship belt upside down, and if there’s any shenanigans he’s lawyer will be laying down cases on the all the snitches.

Tessa Blanchard (w/ Victoria Crawford) defeated Gia Miller (w/ Jody Threat) (6:15)

Miller came out with all kinds of intensity, while Blanchard was nonplussed. Miller wrestles “occasionally,” but this is her first match in TNA.

Blanchard offerend Miller a headlock. Which she took, but Blanchard quickly escaped. Blanchard turned her back and Miller got a quick cradle on her for another near fall. Blanchard then snapped Miller’s neck against the ropes and stopped screwing around. Blanchard pressed Miller’s face into the steel stairs, then suplexed her on the stairs. Blanchard then drug beat on Miller in front of her family, seated at ringside.

Back in the ring, Blanchard distracted the ref so Crawford could get a shot in. Blanchard hit Miller with a superkick. Crawford interfered in front of the referee, who ejected Crawford. Blanchard dumped Crawford to the floor. Security tried to escort Crawford away, but Blanchard interfered. Threat then came off the top with a forward moonsault to take out everybody. Threat chased Crawford to the back.

Back in the ring, Miller made a comeback. She hit a Thez press and monkey flipped Blanchard out of the corner. She went for a crossbody that missed badly, but Blanchard still sold it for a near fall. Miller walked into a boot and Blanchard worked her over with right hands in the corner. Miller countered by locking up Blanchard’s arms and hit her with a straight headbutt. Miller tried to power Blanchard out of the corner with a powerbomb, but Blanchard pulled a roll of quarters out of somewhere, knocked out Miller, and got the pinfall. Just like daddy taught her!

The TNA Injury Report:

  • Team 3D and the Hardys are cleared, but the Matt Hardy is beat up.
  • Joe Hendry is hurt after the no-dq match from last week.
  • Mike Santana and Trick Williams are also cleared for their title match.

Franike Kazarian and Nic Nemeth co-won the Call Your Shot Gauntlet in a double-pin (30:57)

Two wrestlers enter. After 2 minutes, a wrestle enters every 60 seconds. Eliminations occur by pinfall until the final 2 wrestlers are left. Then it’s a one-on-one match to determine a winner. And the winner gets a title shot at whatever championship they want for up to a calendar year.

Léi Yîng Lee was the first entrant by virtue of being the last person eliminated in a qualifying match a few weeks ago. Mara Sadé was the second entrant. They did a basic babyface match for two minutes, teasing near eliminations. After two minutes (no gimmicked clock, or at least it was close enough for now), Ryan Nemeth (3) was next. The knockouts double-teamed Nemeth until Nic Nemeth (4) came in to a huge pop. Sadé dropped Nic with a superkick. Lee and Sadé tried to dump Nic, but Ryan made the save. Nic took out both women with a double clothesline.

Cedric Alexander (5) came in and dumped both Nemeths with German suplexes. Rich Swann (6) of First Class was nexst, and he had a great exhcange with Alexander. Swann thendug into Alexander’s face with an eye rake. Alexander responded with a big boot. AJ Francis (7) was in next, and they missed an opportunity to do a skit in the preshow of Francis and Swann buying consecutive numbers. Francis tossed Lee to the mat in an ugly visual. Francis then eliminated both Sadé and Lee. Francis then chokeslammed Swann (his partner!) and then dumped him to the floor.

Travis Williams (8) came in after winning a coin flip against his partner to be the representative for his team. The Nemeths teamed up against Williams while Alexander and Francis went at it in another corner.  BDE (9) was next. He’s a “famous wrestling Youtuber.” I’ve never heard of him. He did a spot with Francis and then ate a superkick from Nic Nemeth. The Rascals (10), all of them, were next. So yes, one tag team was only around one representative in the match, but this team was allowed three. At least these inconsistencies can be explained by Santino being… well, being Santion.

BDE and the Rascals combined to superkick Francis out of the match.

Dani Luna (11) came in and suplexed two of the Rascals. Williams and Luna did spots while everyone else laid around the ring out of their way.  Eric Young (12) was next and went after former partner Williams. Williams almost eliminated Young with a clothesline. They fought on the apron. Young lowblowed Williams, hit him with a piledriver on the apron, and dumped him to the floor.

Jake Something came in at 13, shout out to Taylor Swift! Something and Luna powerbombed two of the Rascals. They tried to dump Trey Miguel and Myron Reed, but they skinned the cat back in. Young smacked BDE and eliminated him. Rosemary (14) was next. Miguel and Alexander were eliminated by Eric Young.

The Home Town Man (15) came in with the UMass mascot. Something tried to hold the Home Town Man for the mist from Rosemary. But the Man ducked and Something got misted and eliminated. You could say he got… something in his eyes.

Zack Clayton (16) came out with Guido from the ECW’s original FBI. He hit Clayton hit the Home Town man with a powerslam and a clothesline. Dani Luna eliminated Rosemary, and the Man eliminated Luna. Jody Threat (17) ran around and around the ring until Frankie Kazarian floored her with a clothesline. She never got in the ring, so Frankie Kazarian took her spot, shoving Santino Marella in the process. So of course, Santino Marella was in at 18. Marella hit Kazarian with the COBRA (which sent Kazarian through the ropes and to the floor, which becomes annoyingly important later). Santino came in… and was instantly eliminated by a Nic Nemeth clothesline. He wasn’t ready!

But do you know who’s always read? Matt Cardona (19), who came in and eliminated Clayton. Cardona pulled Guildo into the ring and eliminated him, too. Mance Warner (20) entered last with Halloween party rejects and his fiancé Steph DeLander. The other Rascals were eliminated while Warner made his entrance. DeLander gave Warner a steel chair. Everyone just let Warner hit them with the steel chair until Cardona caught him from behind with a forearm.

Young tried to toss the Home Town Man, but he skinned the cat to stay alive. They fought out to the apron, and Young eliminated the Man with a low blow. Cardona took out Young, then tossed Warner as well.

This left Cardona alone with the Nemeths. The Nemeths double-teamed Cardona, who made his won comeback. Cardona tossed Ryan over the ropes but he stayed on the apron. Ryan held Cardona open for a superkick from Nic, but Cardona ducked and Ryan was eliminated BY HIS BIG BROTHER.

It looked like it was Matt v. Nic Nemeth to finish. DeLander and Mance Warner distracted Cardona, and Nic Nemeth dumped him over the top. The ring announcer then announced that Cardona was eliminated. I thought I had the rules wrong, but since Frankie Kazarian was never eliminated by Santino Marella, that meant Frankie Kazarian and Nic Nemeth were the final two.

Nic and Kazarian wrestled for a bit, and eventually both men did a double-pin after a superplex. Santino Marella then announced both men won, which elicited a huge “bullsh!t” chant from the crowd. They tried to do a comedy spot with both of them trying to hold onto the trophy, but the crowd just booed all of this.

What an absolute dumpster fire of a finish.  The crowd was right to boo this.

Kelani Jordan defeated Indi Hartwell to retain the TNA Knockouts World Championship (12:34)

It took four flights for Hartwell’s parents to get here to see her get an opportunity for the TNA Knockouts World Championship.

This was a very good babyface match to start, with both women going for near falls off cradles and dodging each other’s strikes early. Jordan hung up Hartwell in the ropes and came off with a legdrop for a near fall. Jordan hit Hartwell in the back with forearms and went for a suplex, but Hartwell escaped and caught Jordan with a spinebuster for a near fall. Hartwell hit Jordan with a boot for a near fall.

Hartwell stretched Jordan’s back across her knees, practically bending her in half. Jordan fought out and came out of the corner with a clothesline. They did “boo/yay” punches, with Hartwell getting the “yays!” Jordan hit a cartwheel back elbow. Hartwell went for a death valley driver, but Jordan escaped and hit a split jawbreaker for a near fall. Jordan locked in a half-crab, shoutout to Lance Storm! Hartwell eventually  kicked out of that to escape.

Jordan came off the top with a crossbody, but Hartwell rolled through a powered Jordan up. Jordan turned that into small package for two. Hartwell and Jordan struggled to figure out a powerbomb, but eventually Hartwell hit the move for a near fall. Hartwell went for a boot, but Jordan caught it and hit a spinning kick. Jordan hit a frog splash for a near fall. Jordan kept trying to get the pin off that, but Hartwell kept kicking out.

Hartwell dropped to the floor. Jordan tried to follow, but Hartwell tripped her up. Hartwell hit Jordan with a boot. Back in the ring, Hartwell hit a top rope elbow for a near fall. Hartwell went for the Hurts Donut, but Jordan countered with a cradle. Hartwell caught Jordan with a Hurts Donut out of nowhere, but Jordan was too close to the ropes and broke the count. Hartwell went to the top again, but Jordan followed her up.

Jordan tried for a Spanish Fly, but Hartwell elbowed her down. Hartwell went for another top rope elbow, but Jordan ducked. Jordan then hit Hartwell with a split-legged moonsault, and got the pinfall.

Yes, the flew Hartwell’s parents around the world to watch her lose.

After the match, Hartwell shook Jordan’s hand and then got consoled by her family on the loss.

I’m worried for Mike Santana now.

— The Nemeths and Frankie Kazarian were in the back arguing about who hasn’t been world champion and when they might call their shot.

The System defeated Order 4 in Hardcore War (19:25)

This is War Games without the cage or double ring, but with weapons.

Jason Hotch started out with a trash can against Eddie Edwards who came with his family, Wally the mascot of the Boston Red Sox,  and a kendo stick. Wally distracted Hotch by shaking his pelvis at him, allowing Edwards to hit Hotch with a dive to start the match. Hotch hit Edwards with a dropkick and went for a dive, but Edwards blocked that by throwing a trash can at his head. Edwards hit Hotch with chops that he sold like gunshots (cause they sounded like gunshots).

Jon Skyler was next with a steel chair,. Hotch hit Edwards with a spear and choked him with his t-shirt. The Great Hands hit Edwards with their finisher, the Favor (a combined blockbuster/Samoan drop). JDC came in next with a  Patriots helmet. Edwards put the steel chair over Skyler’s crotch, and JDC hit the chair with the football helmet. JDC followed the Great Hands out to the floor with a dive.

Skyler came up busted open, and JDC pulled a cheese grater out from under the ring and used it to work over the cut.

Tasha Steelz came in with a Yankees jersey and a bat for her weapon. Skyler was a bloody mess and fans in the front row was concerned. Alicia Edwards came out with her kendo stick. Edwards cracked Steelz in the head. Edwards tried to grab Alicia and caught a kendo stick in the bean.

Eddie Edwards pulled out a stable gun. He stapled Skyler in the face, JDC stapled Hotch in the crotch, and Alicia stapled Steelz in the derrière.

Agent Zero  was next for Order 4. He press-slammed JDC and tossed Eddie Edwards into the ringside stairs. Zero tossed the top half of the stairs at Eddie’s head. Zero is wrestling in tights and it’s roughly a 1000% improvement for his look. Brian Myers came out next, without a weapon. Zero didn’t have a weapon, either. Myers tried to use one of the trash cans around ringside, but Zero just put him dow with a boot. Zero dumped Myers with a hanging tree slam on the trash can.

Alicia rolled into the ring and found herself surrounded by Order 4 as Mustafa Ali was the last entrance for his team, brining a sledgehammer with him.

Eddie Edwards saved his wife momentarily from an attack from Order 4. The Great Hands and Ali dropkicked JDC in the corner. Moose entered last for his team, with a chain wrapped around him. The Great Hands came for Moose in the aisle way and he destroyed them. Ali tried to catch Moose with a dive, but he caught him and powerbombed him on the apron. Moose stood one-on-one with Agent Zero. After a pretty even standoff, Zero was able to dump Moose to the floor. All the members of Order 4 and the System brawled on the floor, and Zero came over the top rope with a dive onto everyone.

Back in the ring, Steelz pulled out a kendo stick wrapped in barb wire. Alicia Edwards dumped tacks in the ring. Alicia Edwards hit Steelz with the kendo stick to get rid of her. Alicia found herself alone in the ring… with Agent Zero, who gave her a hanging tree slam into the thumbtacks. JDC and Myers went after Zero with kendo sticks, and Moose rapped himself in the chain to spear Agent Zero.

Eddie tried to check on Alicia, but Ali hit him with a steel chair and dumped him. Ali dumped more thumbtacks on Alicia Edwards. Ali went for the 450, but Alicia rolled out of the way and Ali dove right into the tacks.

Eddie Edwards came back up and wrapped his knee in barbed wire. Edwards leveled Ali with a Boston Knee Party wrapped in barbed wire, and got the pinfall.

Leon Slater and Je’von Evans wrestled to a 20-minute time lime draw for the TNA X-Division Championship, which then became a non-finish (20:05)

The crowd was wild for this before they even touched, cheering and chanting “This is awesome!” Both guys teased big strikes against the other, than mocked their opponent for covering up in a panic. Slater caught Evans with a small package for a near fall, after about six counters and reversals. Evans used a go-behind to get some riding time, but Slater was quick to power up. Finally Slater shoved Evans hard when he was backed against the ropes, and things started to get less friendly.

Slater caught Evans with a chop, but Evans fired back. Evan sent Slater to the floor and followed him out with a tope. Slater shoved Evans off the ropes when he went for a springboard, then followed him out with a dive. Back in the ring, Slater hit a crossbody for two.

Slater hit deliberate chops on Evans to slow down the pace. Evans ducked a kick, caught Evans with a step-up springboard rana, and a dropkick. Evans caught Slater with an over the ropes plancha, then came back in the ring with a springboard clothesline on Slater for a near fall.

Evans hit a suplex and then immediately kipped up. Evans ducked an enziguri but Slater hit a heel kick on the rebound. Slater followed up with a springboard back elbow. Slater caught Evans with a flying boot for a near fall. Slater hit a slingshot cutter for a near fall. Evans went to the top, but Slater blocked it and they fought to the apron. Evans tried a suplex, but Slater escaped and tried for the slingshot cutter again, but this time Evans countered it into a spinning DDT that sent Slater across the ring. Evans then hit an out of the ring springboard cutter but smacked his tailbone against the ring apron and he probably hurt himself legit. Evans struggled to get to his feet. Slater slid in, and Evans came off the top with a splash. Evans then hit a second top rope splash from across the ring, but only got two.

Slater caught Evans with a boot, Evans responded with a forearm, and Slater hit another kick. Evans snatched Slater up with a rana and a cradle for near fall. Evans came off the ropes with a springboard right into a flying hangman’s neckbreaker from Slater.

Both men struggled to get to their feet, exchanging strikes along the way. Slater wore out Evans with chops. Slather left himself open for a chop from Evans, so Evans hit him with a cutter, then another springboard cutter, but Slater kicked out at two.

Evans went to the top, but Slater caught him with an enziguri and followed him up top. They fought and both guys jumped to the floor on opposite sides of the corner. Slater tried for a springboard off the barricade, but Evans shoved him into the crowd. Evans then hit a running dive over the barricade onto Slater in the crowd. Evans jumped the rail, and Slater followed hitting his own dive over the barricade as the bell rang to signify the time limit for the match had expired.

TNA has time limits?

Santino Marella came out and announced they would have five more minutes.

Slater hit Evans with Utopia, and Evans slid to the floor. Slater followed him with his over the post dive. Slater went to the top, but Evans jumped up and pulled Slater down with Spanish Fly. Evans went for the cover… and the lights went out. Dark State ran in and attacked both Slater and Evans. Dark State gave Slater and Evans double-team power bombs. The crowd chanted “F*ck these guys!” in an example of probably the wrong kind of heat. That’s a TV finish, not a pay-per-view finish. The extra time was maybe a minute.

To recap: they did a time limit draw to tease a non-finish, restart the match, and then delivered the non-finish anyway, but a worse version of it!

Chris Bey returned to TNA. Chris Bey announced that TNA has set a new attendance record of 7,794. I’m sure we’re all going to wait for the turnstyle count to verfiy that number.

The Hardys v. The Dudley Boys (Team 3D) to retain the NXT and TNA Tag Team Titles in One Final Table(s Match) (15:41)

Brother Runt (aka Spike Dudley) came out and gave Team 3D their Dudley glasses. The crowd chanted “ECW!” for the reunited Dudley Boyz. The Dudleys set some tables up in the aisle. The Hardys brought a ladder and a steel chair with them.  They set up a ladder in front of those tables. Uh-oh.

The Dudleys dumped Jeff to the floor and hit Matt with a 3D right away. Jeff tried to go at the Hardys 2-on-1. He tried for the Whisper in the Wind, but the Dudleys did their best impersonation of Samoa Joe and walked away from Jeff, and Jeff hit the mat. D-Von gave Jeff that “Wassup???” headbutt.  At Bubba’s direction, the crowd called for D-Von to get the tables. The Dudleys gave Jeff the 3D through the table, getting the Dudleys are halfway to winning the match.

Matt came back in with the steel chair. Matt was able to send Bubba to the floor on a miscommunication. Matt and D-Von brawled on the floor. On the floor D-Von took too long setting up a table, and Matt caught D-Von with the Twist of Fate. Matt set up D-Von for an elbow through the table, but D-Von got out of the way and Matt went though the table. But Matt isn’t eliminated since he wasn’t “put through” the table.

Jeff came back and took out Bubba Ray with a clothesline off the apron. D-Von dragged Jeff around the other side of the ring. Back in the ring, Bubba set up a table in the corner. Matt dodged a charge from Bully, who bounced into the table but didn’t break it.  Back to D-Von and Jeff, and D-Von hit Jeff with a table. D-Von climbed a ladder set up in the aisle way (to dive onto Jeff through a table), but Matt climbed up the other side of the ladder and cut him off. The Hardys set D-Von up on the table. Jeff hit a senton off the top of the ladder through the tables, but he came up a little short. His legs hit D-Von (which counted as D-Von going through the table) and I think he might have clipped the back of his head against the ladder, too. Most of Jeff’s body went through a table that D-Von wasn’t on.

This leaves Matt or Bubba as the last man to eliminate.

Back in the ring, The Hardys go after Bubba with steel chair shots. They set up another table. Jeff held open Bubba for a chair from Matt, but when Matt threw the chair Bubba ducked and he hit Jeff. Bubba tried to powerbomb Jeff through a table, but Matt moved it. The Hardys regained the advantage, and Jeff hit Bubba with a swanton bomb.

The Hardys hit Bubba with more chair shots. D-Von was done and Bubba was struggling to get to his feet. Bubba looked defeated; he knew he was done. The Hardy threw down their chairs, and Bubba offered no resistance as the Hardys grabbed him for a double-team uranage through one final table to end the match and the 25-year feud.

After the match, Carlos Silva presented the Hardys with their tag team title belts. The Hardys helped Bubba Ray to his feet, and eventually D-Von got back to the ring as well. The four men shared an embrace in the ring. The crowd chanted “Thank You Dudleys!” The Hardys were about to leave, but the Dudleys pulled them back into the ring. The Dudleys then took their wrestling boots off in the middle of the ring, signaling the end of their in-ring careers. The Dudleys then handed their boots to the Hardy Boys. Both teams embraced as the crowd cheered. The Dudleys walked off into the sunset one last time while the Hardys celebrated in the ring.

The match was what it was, but the post-match was tremeounds.

— Genesis is coming to Dallas in January, 2026.

Mike Santana defeated Trick Williams to win the TNA World Championship (15:54)

Santana found Konnan while running around the crowd for his entrance. The crowd was insanely into both men’s entrances and the match had a big fight feel.

Williams grabbed the house mic from the ring announcer before she could announce his presence, then told Santana he would “beat his a$$ like the Boston Red Sox” and did his own ring announcement. Santana cut him off with a right hand and the match unofficially began with a brawl on the floor.

Santana and Williams fought into the crowd. Williams tried to use a trash can on Santana, but that backfired and he would up covered in trash. They brawled back to the ring area, and Santana dumped Williams onto the ring apron with a back suplex. Santana took a minute to celebrate with a fan, and this gave Williams the opening to hit Santana with the title belt.

Back in the ring, the referee started the match. Williams hit a Trick Kick and got a near fall. Williams followed that up with a death valley driver for another near fall. Williams dropped Santana with a flapjack. Williams hit a spin kick and a jumping neckbreaker for another near fall.

Williams hit Santana with a backhand, which only fired up Santana. But Santana charged at Williams and got backdropped to the floor. Back to the floor, Williams used a slingshot to send Santana into the ringpost headfirst. Santana came up bloody, and Williams slammed him on the floor. Williams tried to drive the steels stairs into Santana, but he got out of the way. Santana hit a superman forearm, but Williams backdropped Santana on the steel stairs.

On the floor, Williams whipped Santana into the ring barricade, then took Santana over to his daughter so she could watch him take a beating. Williams asked Santana’s daughter who her daddy was… and she slapped Trick! Stunned, Williams walked into a tope from Santana.

Back in the ring, Santana caught Williams with a powerbomb for a near fall. Santana went to the top again as the crowd did dueling chants for Santana and Williams. Santana hit a 450 splash for a near fall.

Trick’s lawyer came out to distract Santana. Santana went for his discus lariat, but Williams ducked it and hit a pair of uranages. Williams went to the top, but Santana caught him. Williams battled through and drove Santana to the mat with an avalanche uranage. But Williams only got a near fall.

Williams grabbed his title belt and went for a wild swing, but Santana ducked and rolled up Williams for two. After some more counters, Santana hit the discus lariat, but only got two. The lawyer got up on the apron again, and this time Santana pulled him in the ring and gave him a discus lariat. Williams caught Santana with a Trick Shot, but it only got two. Santana crawled up to his feet, looking at his daughter in the crowd. Williams charged in for another Trick Shot, but Santana ducked. Santana blocked another uranage, hit a flying lariat, and finally, finally, FINALLY hit the discus lariat and got the pinfall to bring the TNA World title home to TNA.

As Carlos Silva is walking in to award the belt to Santana, Nic Nemeth came out to cash in his stupid title shot. But the lights dropped. When they came back up, Elias was behind Nemeth, and he took him out with a chair shot. Frankie Kazarian came in to also try and cash in, but he could’t since he didn’t have the trophy. So Santana took him out with a lariat. Santana got to hand the TNA World title to his daughter and celebrate in the ring with her. None of that nonsense with Nemeth and Kazarian was necessary.

Mike Santana is the first TNA World Champion of Puerto Rican heritage.

There was some abosultely head-scratching booking decisions here. I actually thought the Guantlet match was kind of fun until the ridiculous finish (which the crowd hated), and also thought the X-Division title match was good until we got two non-finishes in less than five minutes (which the crowd also hated). But they stuck the landing with the emotional TNA World title change and the retirement of the Dudley Boys.

**********

Taped from Minneapolis.

Tom Hannifan & Matthew Rehwoldt were on commentary.

Leon Slater & Cedric Alexander defeated The Rascals (Trey Miguel & Zachary Wentz) (10:23)

Myron Reed, who is getting a title shot at the X-Division champion at Victory Road tomorrow night was on commentary. Miguel and Alexander exchanged chops, and Alexander hit a seated Miguel with a vicious dropkick to the back of the head. Miguel was double-teamed a lot in his opponents’ corner. Wentz got the tag and tried a pop-in lung blower, but Slater blocked it and kicked his opponent’s head. Slater got a near fall off a crossbody.

Wentz caught Slater with a handspring knee to take control. He got the tag to Miguel, who got a near fall off of a double team.  Alexander eventually got the tag and took out Wentz with a release German suplex. Wentz blocked the Lumbar Check but got dropped with a Minchioku Driver for a near fall. Slater got the tag and dove into a knee from Wentz. Wentz hit a crucifix driver (set up with a superkick from Miguel) for a near fall. Wentz and Alexander went over the top, and Slater  followed them out by hitting a dive on Wentz.

Back in the ring, Miguel caught Slater with a knee, and Wentz came off the top with a swanton for a near fall. The Rascals went for a double-team, but Alexander broke it up and started suplexing everyone like he was Brock Lesnar or something. Slater hit Miguel with a Swanton 450 and got the pinfall.

— Gia Miller interviewed Frankie Kazarian, who promised to make something out of Jake Something later tonight when they team up in the main event.

— On NXT Tuesday, TNA invaded and ruined the title for title match for the finish that literally everyone saw coming. ‘What happens next between TNA and NXT?” Probably TNA getting beaten down tomorrow night.

— Eric Young yelled at Santino Marella  in the parking lot, and Marella made the match between Joe Hendry and Young for tomorrow night.

Victoria Crawford defeated  Jody Threat (4:07)

Gia Miller apparently went to the TNA authorities and had Tessa Blanchard’s suspension lifted. Threat tossed Crawford to the mat with a Northern Lights suplex. Crawford looked terrible. Not everyone fired by WWE needs to be rescued by TNA. Crawford hit a boot for a near fall. Threat hit a bunch of chops and floored Crawford with a back elbow. Threat booted Crawford into the ropes and Crawford took a nasty bump into them. Threat dumped Crawford with a German suplex with Tessa Blanchard’s music played. Tessa returned and distracted Threat from the entrance stage. This allowed Crawford to hit an axe kick and get the pinfall.

— Joe Hendry gave a bit of backstory for his match with Eric Young tomorrow night at Victory Road.

— The System challenged Order 4 to leave both their factions in the back during tomorrow night’s Moose v. Mustafa Ali encounter.

Mance Warner won the Battle Royal to become #20 in the  Call Your Shot Gauntlet at Bound for Glory (6:17)

This is a battle royal to qualify for another battle royal. The winner will be #20 in the Call Your Shot Gauntlet at Bound for Glory.  The last person eliminated will be the first person in the gauntlet.  The match will have both men’s division and knockout’s division performers.

AJ Francis did some mic work on his way to the ring  and ran down his opponents. Rosemary gave him the mist and all the other competitors dumped Francis to the floor. Killer Kelly and Rosemary were eliminated. Ryan Nemeth eliminated Matt Cardona and The Home Town Man from the floor.  It was later clarified that Nemeth went “through the ropes” which is why he could eliminate people from the floor. Nemeth also helped eliminate  Xia Brookside from the floor. Léi Yǐng Lee lowbridged Nemeth to send him to the floor, leaving her one on one with Mance Warner. Warner booted Lee to the floor for the win.  I wondered if Gail Kim found all of that believable. This was every modern battle royal where two people did spots while everyone else sold like they were dead until it was their turn to do spots.

— Mickie James and The Beautiful People will be inducted in the TNA Hall of Fame at Bound for Glory.

— A hype video for Mike Santana on his road to Bound for Glory. They’re doing their best to make Santana a big deal.

The Final Negotiation. Santino Marella brought out the Hardys and Team 3D. The crowd chanted “This is awesome!” before anything happened. Matt called The Hardys and Team 3D the greatest tag teams of all time, and Matt kept putting both teams over. Bully Ray said TNA was a “hot company” because of the Hardys. Did the Hardys make the deal that made TNA the NXT b-show?  The fans chanted for a TLC match. The Hardys and Team 3D reminisced about all the times they nearly killed each other and openly wondered how Jeff was still alive. Bully Ray finally referred to his team as “The Dudley Boys” which got an ECW chant. The Hardys offer the Dudleys/Team 3D a shot at the TNA tag team title, which would make them “25 time tag team champions,” jumping ahead of all other tag teams in TNA. (I’d been assuming the titles were already on the line). Also the winner is the “greatest tag team of all time.” Bully and D-Von consult, and turn down the match. Again, I’m confused because I thought Bully Ray challenged The Hardys at the last ppv?  The crowd chanted “TLC!” and Bully Ray brings up that The Hardys beat them in “the first ever tag team tables match,” which was “their match.” The Dudleys don’t just want a title match, they want a tables match. The Hardys agreed to the stipulation. Marella wanted both sides to sign a contract (which wouldn’t have had the table stipulation in it), but D-Von ripped up the contract. Instead both teams agreed with a handshake. This was the best thing on the show.

— Mustafa Ali is tired of the disrespect and the System, and Ali accepted Moose’s challenge to leave everyone else in the back for their main event. Ali ups the ante by adding the stipulation that the winner of the match gets his team the advantage in upcoming “Hardcore War” match at Bound for Glory. The System burst onto the scene and both sides stare each other down.

Countdown to Victory Road (8:30 EST start):

  • Cedric Alexander v. Trey Miguel v. Zachary Wentz
  • AJ Francis has Matt Hardy on the First Class Penthouse

Victory Road (9:00 EST start):

  • Moose v. Mustafa Ali,  winner gets the advantage in Hardcore War
  • Hometown Man & Matt Cardona v. The Nemeths
  • Mike Santana v. NXT’s Ridge Holland
  • The Elegance Brand v. THe IInspiration for the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Titles
  • Joe Hendry v. Eric Young
  • Steve Maclin v. Frankie Kazarian for the International Title
  • Leon Slater v. Myron Reed for the X-Division Title

No mention of the Knockouts World Title or the TNA World Champion on the card? This show is lacking a main event.

Steve Maclin & Mr. Ken Anderson defeated  Frankie Kazarian & Jake Something (16:40)

Anderson tried the bit where they lowered the microphone, but I guess they left the microphone at the Impact Zone. Maclin improvised lowering the. mic from above Anderson’s head by standing behind him on a steel chair. Anderson honestly looked winded doing the “MR. ANDERSONNNNN!” gimmick, but they went to a commercial so he could catch his breath before the match started.

Something started out with Maclin and it didn’t go well for Something. Kazarian got the tag and the crowd chanted for Anderson. Anderson tagged in and squared off with Kazarian. Anderson took it to Kazarian, who made Anderson look good by bumping all over the place. Anderson and Maclin double-teamed Kazarian, and they sent both Kazarian and Something to the floor.

Back in the ring,  Anderson and Maclin worked over Kazarian, until Kazarian caught Anderson with a face rake. This allowed the heels to take control. Something came in without making the tag and Hannifan freaked out on commentary. Kazarian hit a jumping leg drop for a near fall. Kazarian hit a snap suplex for another near fall. Something drew Maclin in the ring to allow another phantom tag, and Hannifan threw another fit on commentary. Kazarian worked Anderson over with a chinlock.

Anderson got the hot tag and Maclin took the fight to Something. Maclin hit a running knee on Kazarian and sent him down with a German suplex. Maclin hung Something upside down in the corner and charged, but Something avoided it. Kazarian floored Maclin with a clothesline. Something dropped Maclin with a short-arm clothesline. Maclin fought his way out of a chinlock and both men knocked each other down. After Anderson and Kazarian were tagged in, Kazarian went for the chicken wing. Anderson countered with a Green Bay Plunge for a near fall. Anderson went for his finish (the Mic Check), but Kazarian escaped.

Anderson countered a Fade to Black attempt from Kazarian and hit the Mic Check, but Something broke up the pin attempt. Something and Maclin brawled. Kazarian hit a back sapper and a sliding lariat on Anderson, then got a near fall off a springboard leg drop. The crowd was fully behind Anderson. Kazarian went for the Chicken Wing again, but Anderson countered into his own Chicken Wing. Something broke that up and got backdropped to the floor. Maclin got the tag, took out Something with a dive, then dropped Kazarian with an Olympic Slam. Everyone brawled in the ring again, and the babyface sent the heels into each other. Anderson hit Something with the Mic Check, and Maclin hit Kazarian with the KIA for the pinfall.

Stipulation added to key match at TNA Bound for Glory

Note: The following is a spoiler for this Thursday’s TNA Impact.

For their final ever battle at October’s TNA Bound for Glory, The Hardys and Team 3D have raised the stakes.

First reported by ProWrestling.net’s Jason Powell via Wade Keller of PWTorch, the encounter between Matt & Jeff Hardy and Bully Ray & D-Von will not only be for the TNA World Tag Team titles but also a tables match.

The development occurred during Friday’s TV taping in Minneapolis, Minnesota, during an in-ring segment billed as their “final negotiation.” Unlike when the match was first made at Slammiversary, D-Von was in attendance alongside Bully Ray.

It will be the first time the two teams have met since a House of Glory four-way in December 2016. Before that, the two teams feuded with The Wolves over the TNA tag titles in the fall of 2014. Their last straight-up tag match against each other took place in June of that same year. Their famed rivalry goes back to the fall of 1999 in WWE.

We are still looking for full results from the entire taping. Please send them to [email protected] if you were in attendance.

Current TNA Bound for Glory lineup | Sunday, October 12 | Lowell, MA

  • TNA World Champion Trick Williams defends against Mike Santana
  • TNA Knockouts World Champion (Ash by Elegance or Masha Slamovich) defends against Indi Hartwell
  • TNA Tag Team Champions Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy defend against Bully Ray and Devon in a tables match

TNA announces Hardys-Dudleys ‘Final Negotiation’

Before their match at Bound for Glory, The Hardys and Dudley Boyz will interact on an upcoming episode of TNA Impact.

TNA Wrestling has announced that Matt & Jeff Hardy and Bully Ray & D-Von will all be in attendance at the company’s TV taping in Minneapolis this Friday night. They’ll take part in a “Final Negotiation” segment to build up their TNA Tag Team title match at Bound for Glory.

Bound for Glory will be the last time The Hardys and Dudleys — legendary rivals dating back to the Attitude Era — ever face each other. The match was set up when Bully Ray confronted The Hardys after their TNA Tag Team title victory this July at Slammiversary.

D-Von Dudley has mostly been away from the ring since 2016. He suffered a stroke in 2020 and underwent spinal surgery in 2022 but had a few matches from 2023-2024. Ahead of returning for this final match, D-Von is feeling good physically after dropping a significant amount of weight.

Bound for Glory is taking place on October 12 in Lowell, Massachusetts.

Minneapolis is hosting a live TNA Impact episode this Thursday and then TV tapings the next night. The live episode will include a six-person tag match with The Hardys & Mara Sade facing John Skyler, Jason Hotch & Tasha Steelz.

D-Von Dudley addresses returning for one final match

D-Von Dudley insists that his next match will truly be his final one.

At TNA Slammiversary, it was revealed that The Dudley Boyz and Hardys will face off for one last time at Bound for Glory this October. It will only be the fourth match D-Von has had since 2016. Following a seven-year absence, he returned to the ring on the 1,000th episode of TNA Impact in 2023.

D-Von suffered a stroke in 2020 and underwent spinal surgery in 2022, but he’s feeling good physically after dropping 85 pounds through DDP Yoga and focusing on his diet. Appearing on a new episode of Insight with Chris Van Vliet, D-Von said he is not worried about getting injured by returning to the ring.

“Is there moments where I feel like if I get back in the ring, I’m going to get hurt? No, I don’t,” he said. “I have the wrestling school in Winter Park, Florida, which is doing extremely well. And the great thing about that is, is that I roll around with some of the guys sometimes in the ring. So every once in a while I take bumps and I feel good when I’m in there. So there’s no hesitation in how I think or feel about what I do in that ring now.”

The Insight episode was recorded last week prior to Slammiversary, so D-Von’s Bound for Glory return had not been officially announced at the time. D-Von told Van Vliet that, if he were to wrestle again, it would only be for one final match and not a more expansive run.

“But, you know, at 50 years old, I don’t want to go in here and do it, like I said, until I’m 70 and 80. That’s not going to happen. If we were to do one more match, it would be the last one and that would be it,” he said. “There is no one more, ‘Can you come back one more time, one more time?’ No, because — and I tell this to everybody when they ask — I go, every time I do one more time, that one more time is over, let a year go by, ‘Hey, you guys look great, you can go another match.’ No, we can’t, stop, stop.”

D-Von added that The Hardys would be the ideal opponents for his final match because of how much he trusts Matt and Jeff.

“If I was to do anything in the ring again, it would have to be with Matt and Jeff,” D-Von said. “And, you know, I would say Edge and Christian too, but they’re in the other, you know, organization, AEW, and I don’t think that would ever happen. When the opportunity came, when Edge left WWE and went to AEW, you had Christian and Edge there, and then The Hardys were there. And it was like, we were wondering why, you know, Tony [Khan], who is a huge fan of the business and always had it, why wouldn’t he take the opportunity to be the one to put those three teams together and to do that, but he never did. So I think that opportunity is lost.

“But, you know, if I was to come back and do something, it would have to be with The Hardys. And those are the only two I trust. Even though I think Jeff is out of his damn mind [laughs], but those are the only two I would trust [with] my body on the line and to go in there one more time.”

Bound for Glory 2025 is being held at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Massachusetts on October 12. The Dudleyz vs. Hardys match was set up for the pay-per-view when Bully Ray issued a challenge to Matt and Jeff following their TNA Tag Team title win at Slammiversary.

D-Von worked as a producer for WWE from 2016-2023. At the end of 2024, he launched a new YouTube channel that has now grown to having more than 160,000 subscribers.

The Hardys win TNA Tag Team titles, set to face Dudley Boyz for final time

Image: TNA Wrestling

The Hardys are TNA Tag Team Champions once again, and already have challengers.

Matt and Jeff Hardy won the TNA Tag Team titles for a fourth time at Slammiversary, defeating The Rascalz, First Class, and champions Nic and Ryan Nemeth in a four-way ladder match to win the titles.

The finish had all ladders in the match being used and destroyed, leading Jeff to exit the ring and grab a switch, pressing a button. It was then that a rope-style ladder fell from the rafters. After The Hardys laid out the Nemeths with stereo twists of fate with chairs wrapped around their necks, Jeff climbed up the ladder and grabbed the titles to end the match.

As the Hardys were celebrating their win, Bully Ray made his entrance and congratulated Matt and Jeff on their title victory. He pointed out their history with tables matches, mentioning their 2000 Royal Rumble match. He then pitched one last match between Team 3D and The Hardys at Bound For Glory. After fans asked for D-Von, who was not at Slammiversary, Bully Ray said that was a great question and ended the segment by saying Bound For Glory will be the last time he asks D-Von to get the tables.

Bound for Glory was later announced for October 12 in Lowell, Massachusetts.

Impact Wrestling 1000 live results: Dudley Boyz in action, Feast or Fired match

For two straight weeks, Impact Wrestling will celebrate their 1000th TV episode with several returns, title matches and plenty of nostalgia.

For the first time in seven years, Bully Ray & D-Von Dudley will reunite as Team 3D and will be in action. This will be their first appearance together in Impact since October 2014.

X-Division Champion Lio Rush will defend the title against multi-time champion Chris Sabin.

The infamous Feast or Fired match returns as 20 wrestlers will compete for four briefcases hung above the ring. Three will contain slips for future Impact title matches while the other will have a “fired” slip.

Former Knockouts Champion Traci Brooks will wrestle for the first time in 11 years as she teams with husband Frankie Kazarian against the husband/wife duo of Eddie & Alisha Edwards.

After defeating Steve Maclin last Friday, Josh Alexander will share thoughts on what’s next.

The BTI pre-show match will feature KiLynn King vs. Jody Threat.

Our live coverage will begin at approximately 8:30 PM EST.

Jody Threat defeated KiLynn King on the BTI pre-show

**********

The opening video highlighted some of the greatest personalities and moments in the history of Impact Wrestling followed by a brand new opening theme for Impact.

The show opened with Impact Wrestling president Scott D’Amore in the ring with a microphone greeting all of us to Impact 1000. D’Amore stated that it would be a two week celebration of the history of Impact and then stated that you couldn’t have Impact without the ground-breaking Knockouts division. D’Amore then introduced former Knockouts world champion and Impact Hall of Famer Gail Kim.

Kim thanked the fans and then introduced a tribute video highlighting some of the greatest stars and moments in the history of the Knockouts division.

After the video ended, D’Amore stated that watching it went straight to his heart before being interrupted by the return of Angelina Love and Velvet Sky, The Beautiful People.

D’Amore had left the ring as Love and Sky made their way down to the entrance ramp. The fans chanted “Welcome back!” as Love and Sky entered the ring to confront Kim. They said the video package was great but didn’t feature enough footage of The Beautiful People. After multiple put downs but Love and Sky, Kim stepped up and stated they could physical if they needed to. Before anything further could take place, the Shawtourage’s music hit.

Gisele Shaw made her way to the ring with Savannah Evans and Jai Vidal and thanked The Beautiful People for paving the way. She then stated that because of herself, the Knockouts division had improved. Sky took exception and we then heard the familiar music of a “Juggernaut”.

Jordynne Grace came down to the ring and put over O.D.B., Tara, Traci Brooks and Gail Kim. Before she could say too much more, Deonna Purrazzo made her way down to the ring and confronted Grace stating that she became Knockouts champion by defeating her. The lights then went out and we were now being greeted by current Knockouts champion Trinity.

Trinity took the mic and thanked every Knockout in the ring for paving the way for her in Impact. Purrazzo put down her only title run and stated to come talk to her when she had three. Kim then stated that Purrazzo could talk to her when she had seven. If tensions weren’t high enough, we heard one more theme music hit and it was that of the one and only Awesome Kong alongside Raisha Saeed as we headed to commercial.

We’re back from commercial and the fans are greeting Kong with a huge “Welcome back!” chant. Saeed grabbed the mic and asked if anyone was going to be brave enough to challenge Kong. Before any of the Knockouts could answer, Tasha Steelz made her return to Impact. Steelz stated that she was going to be the final member on Team Beautiful People. Steelz then stepped up to Kong but again, before she could go any further, we hear another familiar entrance theme take place and it’s the return of Mickie James after a 6-month absence.

James came down to the ring and stated that she was now the fifth member on Team Over alongside Trinity, Kong, Grace and Kim. James stated that their 5-on-5 war next week was going to be the greatest battle in Knockouts history.

– Backstage, Eric Young was with Chris Harris and James Storm, known better as America’s Most Wanted. As the three men were chatting, Impact D.O.A. Santino Marella greeted them as we heard the sound of a bottle smashing in the background. As the camera zoomed up from the broken beer bottle, we see the return of Shark Boy to Impact. Marella stated that he was looking for a deputy D.O.A. and Shark Boy accepted.

Alpha Bravo, Bhupinder Gujjar, Black Taurus, Brian Myers, Chris Bey, Crazzy Steve, Heath, Jai Vidal, Joe Hendry, John Skyler, Johnny Swinger, Jonathan Gresham, Kevin Knight, KUSHIDA, Laredo Kid, Moose, PCO, Sami Callihan, Steve Maclin & Yuya Uemura in a Feast or Fired match

For the first time in 5 years, Feast or Fired returned!

There were four individual briefcases hung high above each corner. Three of the cases contained future championship opportunities that included the Impact world, Impact world tag team and Impact digital media titles. The fourth case contained termination papers. To capture a briefcase, you had to grab the case and manage to escape with the case to the floor outside of the ring.

PCO was the final entrant to make his way to the ring and after the bell rang, he nailed several of his opponents with a cannonball over the ropes to the floor.

Chris Bey was the first to attain a briefcase after a battle with John Skyler, grabbing briefcase #3. After dropping down to the mat with the case and seeing his hungry opposition, he jumped over the top rope and crashed onto several of his opponents on the outside to secure the case. Bey celebrated as we headed to commercial.

Back from commercial and Crazzy Steve had briefcase #1 in his hand, threatening to stab Moose with a fork. Moose stepped aside and Steve jumped to the floor officially winning the second briefcase.

Moose was now alone in the ring but as he attempted to go after briefcase #1, Steve Maclin caught up with him and nailed him with the Caught in the Crosshairs followed by his K.I.A. Gresham then attacked Maclin followed by a sequence of Gujjar, Vidal, Swinger and Bravo getting the upper hand before Callihan caught up with Bravo and nailed him with Cactus Driver ’97.

Skyler attacked Callihan followed by KUSHIDA and Knight with a double-team on Skyler. Taurus and Laredo Kid then got involved but JOYA was quick to enter the melee and as Hendry guarded the ring, Uemura grabbed briefcase #4.

Uemura dropped down to the mat but Callihan was waiting for him and it was soon a game of keep away. Hendry took one for JOYA as he was charged by Callihan. Yuya Uemura capitalized on the advantage and dropped to the floor to solidify the third victory in this match.

PCO looked to be the final competitor to achieve potential greatness in this match as he stood tall in the middle of the ring before being met by Jai Vidal’s dancing. PCO would have none of it however as he chokeslammed Vidal before heading to grab the final case.

Callihan caught up with PCO and drove him off the top rope hard to the floor below. Before Callihan could capitalize, it was once again a melee of offense by various competitors before Heath battled it out with Maclin.

Maclin managed to grab briefcase #2 and as he headed to the mat, drove the case into the head of Heath. Maclin then looked for a way to escape with the final case to the floor but he was in no man’s land. PCO re-entered the ring but before he could attack Maclin, Rhino appeared out of nowhere and nailed Maclin with a massive gore!

As Rhino nailed Maclin, briefcase #2 flew out of the ring and into the hands of Moose as he was declared the final winner in the match.

– Backstage, Gia Miller was with Chris Sabin and Miller stated that Sabin had the opportunity to become a 10x Impact X-Division champion tonight. Sabin stated that he didn’t respect Rush and he would make history and become the first ever 10x X-Division champion.

In the ring, Champagne Singh was in the ring with Rohit Raju, better known as the Desi Hit Squad. Raju asked for anyone to name a tag team that had done more for the company than them.

Hmmmm…

Team 3D’s music hit and we saw the return of Brother Ray and Brother Devon for the first time in seven years!

Team 3D defeated Desi Hit Squad

While the Desi Hit Squad showed some offence, this match was all about nostalgia. After hitting their patented “WASSUP”, it was followed up by “Devon… Get the Tables!”

Devon grabbed a table from underneath the ring and after it was setup in the ring, Devon and Ray hit the 3D on Singh to score the quick victory over the Desi Hit Squad but the victory however wasn’t through the table.

Hmmmm…

Devon grabbed Roju and after Ray planted himself on top of the turnbuckle, Devon tossed Roju to Ray as Tom Hannifan stated ‘Somewhere Dixie Carter is having a heart attack watching this”.

– Backstage, Josh Alexander was walking around as The Rascalz were chilling on the floor eating pizza with a mess around them. Alexander wasn’t impressed and tossed Trey Miguel’s backpack down the hallway and told them to step up before he headed to the ring.

– Josh Alexander was in the ring. He stated that every time he walks down the ramp and into the ring it’s surreal. An emotional Alexander looked into the camera and stated just like everyone in the arena, he was an Impact fan. Alexander then stated that he never lost his Impact world championship but before he could continue, Alex Shelley’s music hit and he made his way to the ring.

Shelley stated that when people would think about Impact 1000, they would think of him. Alexander touted Shelley’s success, winning the title but Shelley ran him down asking him if he was an Alex Shelley fan or an Alex Shelley mark?

Alexander stated that he got the ball and carried the ball for the past four years. Shelley said that if Alexander wanted the match for the world title then he wanted it to. Before anything could be finalized however, The Rascalz attacked both men leaving Alexander laying in the ring as Shelley ungracefully headed up the entrance ramp, world title in hand.

– Backstage, The Rascalz were greeted by deputy D.O.A. Shark Boy. He said he saw what happened and told Trey Miguel that he would face Josh Alexander next week. Santino Marella arrived on scene and told Shark Boy that he was a natural as a deputy before being interrupted by Kenny King and Sheldon Jean. King demanded matches against Heath and Tommy Dreamer but Marella ignored his requests and stated that King would face Eric Young next week.

Frankie Kazarian & Traci Brooks defeated Eddie & Alisha Edwards

Brooks played honor to her Ms. Brooks character in her attire, returning to action for the first time in 12 years. Traci and Alisha began the match and as you would expect, it was a house of fire from the get go.

It was your typical bad vs. good match with Eddie not caring who his opponent was in the ring and Alisha doing whatever she could to attempt to gain the victory.

Final moments of the match saw Eddie attempt to nail Brooks with the Backpack Stunner, Traci countered with the X-Factor. Kazarian then followed up with a running knee, knocking Eddie to the outside. Alisha attempted to capitalize and attempted to pin Brooks but could only manage a two count. Traci recovered and nailed Alisha with the Fade to Black to land the 1-2-3.

After the match, Kazarian stated the match felt good celebrating 1000 episodes of Impact before directing everyone to the entrance screen. A video package was shown on the Impact Wrestling career of the original Knockout Traci Brooks before it was announced that she would be entering the 2023 Class of the Impact Wrestling Hall of Fame.

An emotional Brooks was then shown in the ring being celebrated by her son as the fans in attendance applauded the announcement chanting “You deserve it!”.

– Backstage, Gia Miller was with current Impact X-Division champion Lio Rush. Rush stated that Chris Sabin was scared of him and that he was coming in hot like he always does.

– A video promo was shown of Tommy Dreamer praising his newly won Impact digital media championship, thanking his fans and potentially asking for a physical length extension on the title.

Chris Sabin defeated Lio Rush for the Impact X-Division title

It was back and forth in the beginning until Sabin was sent to the outside and Rush attempted to capitalize the same way he did at Slammiversary. It wasn’t meant to be however as Sabin countered and attempted to nail Rush with the Cradle Shock but Rush luckily escaped.

Rush countered with a submission counter and followed up with a back suplex before going back to his submission attack. Sabin countered with his power and then hit a missile dropkick before attempting to hit the Cradle Shock once again. Rush countered with his own illegal counter by attacking the eyes and after sending Sabin to the outside, he followed up and nailed Sabin with a moonsault.

We’re back in the ring and Rush attempted the Cradle Shock but Sabin countered but Rush followed up with a grounded spin kick. Sabin followed up with a running boot in the corner followed by an attempted Cradle Shock but couldn’t follow through. Sabin locked in a submission but Rush wouldn’t give up.

Sabin nailed the Clothesline from Michigan and followed up with a successful Cradle Shock but Rush kicked out at two! Rush then followed up by nailing Sabin with the Final Hour but Sabin would kick out!

Both men looking for what it would take to be THE X-Division champion and Sabin dug deep. Sabin hit the Tanaka punch followed by the Shell Shock followed by the Cradle Shock and FINALLY it was it for Lio Rush as Chris Sabin became the 10x Impact X-Division champion!

After the match, members of the Impact Wrestling roster came out to the ring to celebrate Sabin’s historic win.

Final Thoughts:

I had the honour of spending a good part of the day with Chris Sabin back in March of 2006. Yes, a very long time ago but as a fan of his back then and now, he was one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. Not just talented but appreciative of his opportunities in the wrestling business. On top of that, a HUGE fan of the Cadbury McFlurry and Smarties.

To watch him win his tenth X-Division championship in 2023… On week one of IMPACT 1000… Are you F’N kidding me?!?

IMPACT Wrestling has done an amazing job promoting IMPACT 1000 and their drops on X have been awesome showcasing their stars on IMPACT 1 vs. IMPACT 1000. The transition of Moose has been great as well.

The return of Traci Brooks tonight and the announcement of her being inducted into the IMPACT Wrestling Hall of Fame brings back memories as well of her career in Canada and how far she went in the industry.

Dudley Boyz to team up for first time in seven years at Impact 1000

The Dudley Boyz/Team 3D will unite for the first time in seven years for the 1000th episode of Impact Wrestling.

The show will be taped on Saturday, September 9th in White Plains, New York, and will air the following Thursday on AXS TV. Their opponents were not named.

Bully Ray & D-Von Dudley last shared the ring in a trios match in a December 2016 indie show while their last tag team match in Impact was at October 2014’s Bound For Glory when they defeated Tommy Dreamer & Abyss in a hardcore match.

The two were two-time Impact/TNA Tag Team Champions as Team 3D’s Brother Ray & Brother Devon.

While Ray has continued to wrestle for various promotions and currently has a home in Impact as a singles competitor, D-Von has not been in action since that aforementioned December 2016 indie show. He had worked as a WWE agent and then an NXT coach starting in 2016 before he departed this past January

D-Von underwent spinal surgery in February 2022 and was told at the time his wrestling days were over which he was fine with. His twin sons, Terrell and Terrence Hughes, wrestle as the tag team TNT on the indies, and have appeared for AEW and NWA in the past.

While there has been little announced for the event thus far, Impact has announced both Awesome Kong and The Beautiful People’s Angelina Love & Velvet Sky will make appearance.

The Dudleys to reunite at Impact 1000

One of the greatest tag teams of all time is set to reunite for the first time in seven years.

Bully Ray and Devon (aka Bubba Ray & D-Von Dudley) have been announced for Impact Wrestling’s 1000th episode on September 9 in White Plains, New York. The news was announced today on Busted Open Radio.

Other Impact Wrestling legends already announced for the show include Awesome Kong and The Beautiful People’s Angelina Love & Velvet Sky.

Known as Team 3D in the promotion, Bully and Devon were inducted into the Impact Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2014. They twice held the TNA Tag Team Championships and once held the NWA World Tag Team Championships while in the promotion. Bully also won the TNA World Heavyweight title twice and Devon held the promotion’s Television Championship once. Outside of Impact, the Dudleys are nine-time WWE Tag Team Champions, one-time WCW Tag Team Champions (while the belts were used in WWE), eight-time ECW Tag Team Champions, and were inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame in 2018.
