AEW Collision live results: IWGP World title eliminator, Ace Austin debuts

Tonight’s AEW Collision from Cincinnati, Ohio, will feature a four-way title eliminator match for Forbidden Door in addition to the debut of former TNA star Ace Austin.

ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty, former TNT Champion Daniel Garcia, Nigel McGuinness and Hechicero will do battle with the winner moving on to face IWGP World Champion Zack Sabre Jr. at this month’s Forbidden Door.

Months after moving on from TNA, former X-Division and Tag Team Champion Ace Austin will make his debut as he battles Ricochet.

The Death Riders’ Jon Moxley & Wheeler Yuta will take on JetSpeed (Kevin Knight & Mike Bailey) while Paragon (Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly) faces Blake Christian & Lee Johnson.

In a four-way, it will be Kris Statlander vs. Julia Hart vs. Anna Jay vs. Penelope Ford for $100,000 on the line.

The card is rounded out by Juice Robinson vs. Bryan Keith, and an appearance by AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm.

**********

Let the colliding begin as Collision begins with the one and only AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm!

Storm addressed the crowd as only she can, calling Athena “annoying.” Storm mocked Athena’s many nicknames and her bullying of Billie Starkz. Storm got on her knees and prayed to the “Fallen Goddess” when suddenly, the ROH Forever Champion herself arrived to attack her. Starkz joined Athena and the two beat down storm. Athena grabbed the mic and said that Storm better pray that Athena doesn’t expose her as the fraud she is.

Starkz dragged Storm to the ring and Athena assured Storm that her days were numbered. She then claimed Storm’s spotlight but suddenly Mina Shirakawa arrived and sent Athena reeling. In the ring, Storm hit a suplex on Starkz, leaving Athena caught in between Shirakawa and Storm. She dove off the ring ramp and was taken away by security. Storm and Shirakawa celebrated on the ramp.

JetSpeed (Kevin Knight and “Speedball” Mike Bailey) vs. Death Riders’ Jon Moxley & Wheeler Yuta

Knight and Speedball have both had singles matches with Jon Moxley. Now, they are going to try the tag team thing and take on Mox and Yuta, while Marina Shafir prowls around the ring.

JetSpeed dove over the top rope and took out Yuta and Moxley before the bell had even rung. Bailey tossed Yuta into the ring and the match started, officially. Knight tagged right in and the two hit a bunch of double team plants and kicks.

Yuta and Knight carried on while Moxley sauntered his way to the corner. Yuta tagged him in and Moxley went right to Bailey in the corner, knocking him off. He then sent Knight over the top rope to the outside, bouncing his head off the announce table multiple times. Bailey tried to help, but Moxley bounced his head off the table for good measure.

Back in the ring, Moxley tagged in Yuta who hit a bridge suplex for a two-count. Yuta tagged Moxley back in and he proceeded to punch Knight in the stomach for a few minutes before tagging Yuta back in. The Death Riders plan seemed to be to keep both members off JetSpeed off their feet so that they couldn’t build momentum.

Bailey tagged in and hit a few quick kicks on Yuta followed by a standing Shooting Star cover for two. Bailey resorted to a Karate Kid crane kick that knocked Yuta off his feet. He tagged in Moxley who was able to get in just in time to eat a double dropkick.

Moxley grabbed Bailey and hit a German suplex on the ring apron (the hardest part of the ring!) before tossing him back in to Yuta. The two double teamed Bailey with Moxley working over his arm. Moxley sent Bailey out of the ring where Shafir added her two cents. Mox bounced Bailey off the barricade and tossed him back in for a backbreaker.

Yuta tagged in and Baliey began a comeback. Moxley tagged back in and put an end to that with a suplex attempt that Baily reversed into a pin attempt. Yuta tagged in before Bailey could make a tag to Knight, but after a bit of a back and forth, the tag was made and a fresh Knight leapt in to slam and splash Yuta.

Yuta tagged in Moxley and Knight tagged in Bailey and the two started trading forearms. Yuta and Knight tried to get involved, but it ended up with all four men brawling in the ring. Moxley dodged a high kick from Baliey and turned it into a cutter and a two count. Knight came in and took out Mox, leaving Bailey and Yuta as the legal men.

Bailey and Knight hit an amazing double team hurricanrana into a power bomb, but it only got a two count. Bailey went up for a springboard splash but again, only two. Knight took his turn next, going for a splash, but Yuta rolled out of the way. Knight had Yuta in a backslide, but Shafir pulled Knight out. Bailey tried to help, but sent Shafir into the stairs by mistake.

Back in the ring, Yuta was covered by Knight, but Shafir pulled the ref out. Then Mox pulled out Bailey for a ddt on the outside. Yuta took the opportunity to low-blow Baliey and get a three count.

Match Result: Death Riders defeated JetSpeed

Great match to kick things off! The brawling style vs the high flying was a joy to watch. Jon Moxley is the grumpiest man on the planet and I’d pay just to watch him stomp around about stuff.

-Back from break, The Outrunners were shown in the music video for “Brother Nature” which one can only assume was produced in 1988. Good TV.

Ricochet vs. Ace Austin

This is Austin’s big AEW debut and doing it against Ricochet promises to make it memorable. The two had a confrontation on Wednesday, so there’s already some bad feelings in the mix. Also, I love Ricochet’s entrance music.

Austin made a pretty big splash as he entered. He looks like he’s about 17 years old though, so I’ll assume he had to put down his Switch 2 to get into the match.

Speaking of, Austin had control off the top. He and Ricochet had a lighting fast exchange, with Austin sending Ricochet out of the ring. Austin then wouldn’t let him get back in the ring, stopping him with some big kicks.

When Ricochet finally made it back in, he managed to hang Austin up on the ropes and then stood on his hair, clearly out of jealousy. Ricochet dropped elbows and knees on Austin, keeping him off his feet and sending him into the corner for a 619 and then a big elbow drop.

Back from break, Austin was headed up to the top turnbuckle, when Gates of Agony appeared at the top of the ramp. That allowed Ricochet to get a brainbuster followed by a shooting star press off the distraction. Ricochet hit a big samoan drop, but only got a two count.

Ricochet tried to position Austin for a big move, but Austin wormed out only to eat a bit kick. Ricochet went up top, but Austin returned the favor from earlier and knocked him off the ropes. Austin then hit a lalriat sending Ricochet out. Austin followed with a dive, but before he could get back in the ring, Kaun got ahold of him. Austin sent Kaun into a ring post and jumped back in.

Austin and Ricochet exchanged pin attempts until Ricochet hit a Spirit Gun and that was too much for the younger star and Ricochet got the pin.

Match Result: Ricochet defeated Ace Austin

-Backstage the Hurt Syndicate were interviewed and stated that they don’t care who wins the finals of the Tag Team Tournament because they will beat whoever it is.

Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong vs. Blake Christian & Lee Johnson

After saying so in an interview with Rene Paquette, O’Reilly and Strong are looking to re-forge some undisputed links in their new group, Paragon. A win over Christian and Johnson would be a good step forward in that, but personally I think they should go the Dark Order route and get some matching jackets. Those Dark Order jackets are sweet.

Strong and Christian kicked things off with a speedy exchange. Christian cartwheeled his way into into a double team though as O’Reilly tagged in. Johnson tried to save his partner, but Strong sent him packing.

Strong and O’Reilly double teamed Johnson in the ring, isolating him from Christian, who flew in and knocked Strong off the ring apron. Johnson claimed the momentum in the ring with a flurry of kicks on O’Reilly, blocking a hot tag to Strong by tagging in and out with Christian.

Strong and Johnson tagged in respectively and Strong hit a big shoulder slam. Strong hit a bunch of forearms and then O’Reilly joined him for some tandem knees. Christian and Johnson absoltuely flew around the ring ring until Strong and O’Reilly hit a high/low and picked up the win.

Match Result: Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong defeated Blake Christian & Lee Johnson

That match was wild! Johnson and Christian are so fast and athletic that it’s hard to keep up with them. I couldn’t tell who was legal half the time because everyone was always hitting someone. Strong and O’Reilly are great at this pro wrestling thing and I’m loving all the friendship angles. Great Stuff.

-Back from break, we saw a beat up Bandido with Stokely and FTR standing over them. Brody King showed up to avenge his partner and King and FTR fought their way out to the ring. King manhandled FTR, until Stokely hit King in the face with a fistfull of powder. FTR stole the mask of Bandido and hit a Shatter Machine on King.

-SkyFlight joined us from backstage offering Don Callis any match that he wants. Tag, singles, anything. Then they left to train.

$100K 4-Way Collision: Julia Hart vs. Kris Statlander vs. Penelope Ford vs. Anna Jay

Straight up, I have no idea why $100,000 is on the line in this match. Considering they just had a $50K challenge before Supercard of Honor (won by AR Fox) this might be a sign that Tony Khan has too much money. Also, just so everyone’s clear, I will fight myself in a match for $25K.

The rules of the match weren’t really made clear, but all four women started brawling off the top. It seems that it’s no DQ and whoever gets a pinfall first wins. That said, Jay and Statlander sent HArt and Ford out early and battled each other in the ring. Statlander went for a pin, but Hart broke it up and replaced Jay in the ring.

Hart walked the ropes into a hurricanrana (do that, Undertaker!), but Ford stacked her and Statlander in the corner. Before she could do much though, Jay came back and stacked all three for a big roundhouse kick.

Hart and Ford seemed to form a loose alliance to beat up Jay. They traded moves on here, but anytime one went for a pin, the other would break it up. Statlander re-arrived and clotheslined, well, everyone, following it up with a big suplex to Jay.

Hart and Ford tried to suplex Statlander, but but she reversed it and ht a double suplex on them both. Jay sent Statlander to the outside and then Hart did the same to Jay, leaving her and Ford to fight in the ring. Ford hung Hart up on the ropes then whipped her backwards for a stomp or three.

Jay and Ford fought to the top turnbuckle, but Statlander grabbed Ford for a suplex, but left herself open to a blockbuster from Jay. Jay began spamming leg lariats and hit a backstabber on Statlander for a two-count.

Statlander got Jay and Hart on her back, but Ford dropkicked everyone into the corner. Statlander picked up Ford, but she reversed it into a poisonrana. Hart took Ford into the corner with a lariat and then a kick for Jay. Hart set Jay up in the corner and she and Ford hit stereo moonsaults that both missed.

Hart and Jay fought back and forth with Jay hitting a Gory special, but Ford broke up the pin. Ford dragged Jay to the outside, but Statlander caught Hart in the ring with a scissor choke on her forcing her to tap out and giving Statlander the win and $100k for some reason.

Match Result: Kris Statlander defeated Penelope Ford, Anna Jay and Julia Hart

After the match, every woman on the roster arrived for some reason and a melee broke out. Suddenly though, Harley Cameron and that broke it all up.

That was an amazing match but for two things: 1) there was no need for the gigantic run-in and 2) I still don’t know why $100K was on the line. Great fun though.

-SkyFlight’s challenge was answered in the back by Hechicero, Kyle Fletcher and Lance Archer. They will see Skyflight in Glasgow (because everybody dies, and so on) and seem very confident they will beat them in the match that they will surely tell us about before next Wednesday. Right?

-Backstage, Kris Statlander was interviewed about her big win. Harley Cameron arrived to celebrate with her and so did the Death Riders. Yuta and Moxley were very friendly (which was unsettling) and congratulated Statlander before leaving. The worst part was that Harley Cameron didn’t get to talk more.

Bryan Keith vs. Juice Robinson

Keith and Big Bill were knocked out of the AEW World Tag Team Title Eliminator Tournament by the Bang Bang Gang. So the interfered with Robinson’s match against Ricochet. So tonight, they can hopefully settle the beef.

Keith and Robinson kicked things off with a perfectly cromulent chain. Things picked up during the break as Keith wrapped Robinson’s leg around the ringpost and nearly broke it in half. Back in the ring, Keith kept working the leg until Robinson threw a few elbows. Keith just wrenched his knee harder and put him in a modified Boston crab.

Back from break, Robinson reversed a Keith charge with an elbow. Keith grabbed his leg and Robinson punched him in the face a lot about it. He grabbed Keith and hit a spinebuster, but seemed to hurt his knee more than Keith.

Big Bill hopped up on the ring, so Austin Gunn got in his face. Bill threw him into the barricade, while Robinson hit a big slam in the ring, pinning Keith clean.

Match Result: Juice Robinson defeated Bryan Keith

-Backstage Rene Paquette interviewed Anthony Bowens. Bowens is tired of hearing about Max Caster. He represents the company and the fans better than anyone. Bowens was mad that Caster is going to Scotland and he isn’t. Bowens stomped off with nothing really resolved.

Technical Spectacle: Hechicero vs. Nigel McGuinness vs ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty vs Daniel Garcia

My goodness! Someone has been reading my dream journal, Mr Khan! This match is going to be insane. For those with a love of the technical aspects of wrestling, this isn’t a fantasy match, it’s a literal fantasy and I am so stoked for it! The winner of this will face off against IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Zack Sabre Jr. at Forbidden Door on Sunday, August 24 in London.

After a feeling out, McGuinness and Moriarty paried off as did Garcia and Hechicero. It was like two matches were happening at once, with McGuinness stomping the hand of Moriarty and Garcia trying to work Hechicero into a surfboard.

Moriarty hit a sunset flip on McGuinness and Garcia worked the ankle of Hechicero. Hechicero wrapped Garcia’s arm around the ropes while McGuinness sent Moriarty to the outside. Hechicero and Garcia followed them and Moriarty sent McGuinness into the barricade.

Garcia and Hechicero began chopping in the ring with Garcia sending Hechicero to the corner for some punches. Moriarty tried to break it up, but Garcia sent him packing. Hechicero grabbed Garcia and the two rolled around the ring hitting pin attempts.

On the outside, Moriarty put a full nelson on McGuinness, then flew back into the ring to try to pin Hechicero. Garcia sent Hechicero packing and turned his attention to Moriarty. McGuinness broke it all up with a stomp, leaving the other three on their backs.

Moriarty and Garcia exchanged opponents for a second before attacking each other. Moriarty got Garcia on his back, McGuinness locked around Moriarty’s leg and Hechicero went for his ankle. This lasted for a few minutes before everyone collapsed in a heap.

During the commercial, Moriarty and McGuinness fought in the ring while Garcia and Hechicero took things to the outside. Hechicero put a stretch on Garcia while McGuinness found himself in a Border City Stretch in the ring. Hechicero left Garcia and put an ankle lock on Moriarty. Then Garcia jumped back in and put an arm bar on Hechicero. The four men writhed in pain until everyone broke it up.

Hechicero wrenched McGuinness’ leg around the rope before moving on to Garcia. Hechicero went up top, but McGuninness pulled him down with a Tower of London and went for a pin. Garcia broke it up though and began chopping McGuinness. Garcia almost had him pinned, but Hechicero broke it up with a kick.

Hechicero put a sleeper on McGuinness and Garcia and Moriarty fought across the ring. McGuinness wrapped his leg around Hechicero’s ankle forcing him to break the hold. Moriarty Had Garcia on his back and Garcia wiggled free and hit a crossface on McGuinness. Hechicero had Moariarty wrapped up and McGuinness rolled through.

McGuinness had Garcia’s arm locked and Moriarty had Hechicero in a figure four, but he got a rope break. Moriarty started throwing strikes at Hechicero who got him a an absolutely brutal headscissor. McGuinness locked in an arm hold on Hechicero while Garcia worked the legs of Moriarty. No one gave up so McGuinness hit Garcia in the head and wrapped up Moriarty’s arm in a London Dungeon.

After Moriarty broke free, Garcia began slapping Hechicero, slugging it out with the luchadore. Garcia put a dragon tamer on Hechicero, while McGuinness locked in another London Dungeon on Moriarty.

Hechicero was about to tap, but Moriarty prevented it. McGuinness pulled back on the arm of Moriarty and that was it, the ROH Pure Champion was forced to tap out. McGuinness gets the victory and the shot at Zack Sabre Jr at Forbidden Door.

Match Result: Nigel McGuinness defeated Lee Moriarty, Daniel Garcia and Hechicero.

After the match, McGuinness was asked by Rene Paquette if he felt ready and McGuinness said that it was a dream match for everyone. McGuinness then took a moment to congratulate Garcia in particular, saying he gave his all. A somber Garcia went to leave the ring, but McGuinness asked him to corner for him in London. Garcia shook his hand and said that he would. FRIENDSHIP!!

Wow, that was INCREDIBLE. If they put it on Youtube or somewhere, take a few moments to check it out. I feel like I was only able to recap about 2/3rds of what was going on. It was like two matches were happening at the same time. Absolutely phenomenal, possible match of the year in my humble opinion.

AEW Collision live results: Hangman Page & JetSpeed vs. LFI

AEW Collision returns live on TNT Saturday from Roanoke, Virginia — home state of AEW World Champion Hangman Page.

Page will be on the show, teaming with JetSpeed (Mike Bailey & Kevin Knight) against LFI’s Rush, Dralistico & The Beast Mortos.

After defeating Dustin Rhodes for the title last week in a violent street fight, Kyle Fletcher will defend the TNT title for the first time as he faces NJPW’s Tomohiro Ishii.

In a six-woman tag team match set up on Dynamite, former TBS Champion Willow Nightingale, Queen Aminata and Tay Melo take on the Triangle of Madness (Thekla, former TBS Champion Julia Hart and Skye Blue).

**********

AEW Collision comes on the air with Tony Schiavone welcoming us alongside Nigel McGuinness & Emmy and Golden Globe award winner Paul Walter Hauser, as the music for Kyle Fletcher hits and it’s time for our opening TNT Title match.

Kyle Fletcher vs. New Japan Strong Openweight Champion Tomohiro Ishii for the TNT Title

(This was like a refrigerator taking on a skyscraper, as the stare down to kick off the match was quite the sight to see. A great first title defense for Fletcher, who looked awfully impressive in this one, which should come as no surprise, as it’s impossible to have a bad match with Ishii. The post-match sets the stage for the challenge that Fletcher wants New Japan’s best to face him at Forbidden Door for the TNT Title. We’re told that challenge should be answered next week.)

The size advantage for Fletcher is beyond substantial during the opening face-off, but it doesn’t matter to Ishii, who showed no fear and immediately ramped up a forearm battle for a full minute. Lariat connected for Ishii, but Fletcher dodged a sliding lariat, threw a wild lariat of his own, which Ishii ducked, causing Fletcher to take a powder. Back inside, Ishii lit up Fletcher with corner chops, but Fletcher battled back with a huge big boot to regain control. Ishii answered with a Saito Suplex, but ran right into a Michinoku Driver, as Fletcher did the deal with things going to break.

It was all Fletcher during commercial, but when things returned, Ishii no sold and flattened Fletcher with a suplex before going back to corner chops. Taking a page out of his pal Willow Nightingale’s playbook, Ishii Pounced Fletcher clear across the ring before an uppercut headbutt in the corner led to a huge superplex for two. Ishii missed a charge, allowing Fletcher to hit a sprinting leg lariat. Fletcher fired off thrust kicks before hitting a violent brainbuster on the apron. Top rope elbow got Fletcher another near fall, which led to both men no selling snap Dragon/German suplexes respectively before colliding with dueling kicks for the double down.

Slugfest saw Ishii throwing an uppercut forearm, but Fletcher responded with a leg lariat, looked for a superplex of his own, but Ishii slid out into a powerbomb. Lariat turned Fletcher inside out for a close two. Both were up again, as Ishii hit a desperation uppercut headbutt and collapsed on Fletcher for two. Fletcher battled back with a powerbomb and multiple corner boots, leading to his Sheer Drop Brainbuster for the win.

Post-match, Fletcher said the fans have just witnessed history in the first defense in the greatest title reign in AEW history. Ishii was yet another legend Fletcher has mopped the floor with to go along with Adam Cole & Dustin Rhodes. Fletcher is thinking about Forbidden Door and also his former New Japan days. Fletcher wants NJPW to send their pound for pound best to face him for the TNT Title. It won’t matter who, though, as he’ll still be holding the title high above his head, while everyone will be forced to say his full name.

Match Result: Kyle Fletcher defeated Tomohiro Ishii to retain the TNT Title

-Don Callis was standing by backstage, happy that Fletcher defeated Ishii to kick off his destiny as the greatest TNT Champion of all time. Callis brought up his own success in New Japan years ago and sends a message to management to send their best in New Japan to face Kyle Fletcher in Cincinnati next week and answer the call for a match at Forbidden Door.

-Tony Schiavone tells us next week on Dynamite (but the graphic was for Collision) it will be a “Technical Spectacle” with Hechicero vs. Nigel McGuinness vs. Lee Moriarty vs. Daniel Garcia to see who will face Zack Sabre Jr. for the IWGP World Title at Forbidden Door.

-Earlier today, the Gates of Agony & Ricochet are shown demolishing some fellas in the back, as Ricochet said he has all this ammo and fire power. His patience is wearing thin, as he’s been nothing but respectful since coming to AEW. They have no problem dismantling everyone in their path, so you’ll give them what they want or they will take it. It’s not a request, it’s a demand.

*********

-Alicia Atout is backstage with The Patriarchy, asking why they did what they did to Christian Cage last week? Kip Sabian said Cage respected them for standing up to him, but didn’t like it when questioning his motives. Everyone is questioning them now, as Nick Wayne said it’s typical and hypocritical of Cage to tell himself what he wants to hear. How are they supposed to be fulfilled, when all Cage does is tell lies? Nick said Cage was right when he said Nick had every tool to be a star, except he’s already a star, so you shouldn’t be shocked of what happened to Cage, as their next goal is to end his career entirely.

Megan Bayne (w/Penelope Ford) vs. Emily Rose

Bayne exploded out of the corner with a shotgun dropkick, corner splash, butterfly suplex and diving clothesline to kick things off. Rose got a back elbow from the corner, slowly climbed the ropes, only to be flattened with a running Liger Bomb by Bayne for the easy win.

Match Result: Megan Bayne defeated Emily Rose

-Lexy Nair is backstage with Big Bill & Bryan Keith, who is furious at Juice Robinson & Austin Gunn for knocking them out of the Tag Team Tournament. Next time Bill sees Robinson, he’s ripping his head off, as he’s got exactly what’s coming to him.

Juice Robinson (w/Austin Gunn) vs. Ricochet

(Ricochet gets back in the win column, but there was so much chaos going around ringside during the finish, that none of the three commentators noticed the 7-foot-tall gentleman getting in the ring and clobbering one of the competitors with a big boot. After the promo before this match, you knew Big Bill would get involved somehow to continue the feud with Robinson after the Bang Bang Gang eliminated The Learning Tree from the Tag Team Tournament a few weeks ago.)

In the early going, Ricochet went to the floor and chopped poor Cardblade Jay White, as Gunn made the save and held it high. In the ring, Ricochet tried to dodge a chop from Robinson, who put on the brakes and paint brushed the bald head before hitting a senton for two. Corner punches in bunches from Robinson, until Toa Liona slowly walks out to the stage to run distraction not only on Gunn, but the referee as well. Bishop Kaun appeared ringside, pulling Robinson to the floor, allowing Ricochet to hit a dive taking things to break.

Robinson remained grounded during commercial, but managed a spinebuster to get things rolling, followed by some snap jabs and Axe Kick for two. Juice is Loose blocked into a wall walk from Ricochet into a corner dropkick for a near fall of his own. Ricochet dodged a second Axe Kick, but Robinson connected with the comeback lariat that turned Ricochet inside out. Ricochet continuously hung-up Robinson throat first over the top and followed with a springboard lariat and Lionsault before a standing Shooting Star got two. Ricochet took too long to follow-up, allowing Robinson to hit a Flatliner and cradle for two. Kaun jumped on the apron, but Gunn pulled him down, only for Liona to hit a huge Pounce across the announce table. Everyone is distracted, with no one seeing Big Bill appearing and clocking Robinson with a big boot, as Ricochet hit a Spirit Gun to win it as Bill & Bryan Keith shot finger guns from the stage.

Match Result: Ricochet defeated Juice Robinson

-By the Numbers video package on Athena is shown 67-0 in ROH singles matches, 30 title defenses, 25 different opponents and 3 former AEW Champions. The longest title reign in Ring of Honor history. The only title shot Athena has gotten in AEW, she’s lost, but wasn’t pinned, as the AEW Women’s Champion during that time, Timeless Toni Storm. This was a good, brief, package on the challenger for the AEW Women’s Title come Forbidden Door.

**********

-Footage last week of La Faccion Ingobernable beating down Max Caster after Rush was the first to last the full 5 minutes during the Best Wrestler Alive Open Challenge. Lexy Nair is backstage with Max Caster, who said Rush had a moral victory last week by surviving 5 minutes with the Best Wrestler Alive. Nair brought up AR Fox & JetSpeed making the save, but Caster said thanks for the help, but next time, no thanks. Caster started doing push-ups while doing his chant, even standing by some large Nutcrackers (I’m serious) while Nair was holding back laughter.

Stokely & FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) vs. Ryan Zukko, Joe Keys & Josh Fuller

(I know they’re heels, but the crowd absolutely loved Stokely during this match. They wanted one thing and one thing only, for Stokely to get in the ring and popped big when he finally made the tag.)

Stokely came out with his crutch, but threw it down in defiance as the bell rang. Hauser brought up the trio of Zukko, Keys & Fuller look like fathers trying to coach their sons’ teams. There’s We Want Stoke chants from the crowd, as Harwood & Wheeler took their turns putting a beating on their opponents until finally Stoke tagged in. After a few punches, Fuller battled back and Stokely quickly scurried for a tag. Zukko tried a pin attempt on Harwood, who immediately kicked out and FTR hit a Shatter Machine. Both Harwood & Wheeler held up Zukko, as Stokely leapt off the second rope for a Spike Piledriver and got the pin for his team.

Winners: Stokely & FTR defeated Ryan Zukko, Joe Keys & Josh Fuller when Stokely pinned Zukko

-Video package on the recent history and feud between Darby Allin & Jon Moxley was shown and Allin’s challenge for Forbidden Door.

Hechicero vs. AR Fox

Daniel Garcia joined commentary for this bout, as McGuinness shook his hand, wishing him luck next week in the Technical Spectacle. Hechicero wasted no time attacking at the bell, as Lee Moriarty and the rest of Shane Taylor Promotions were watching on backstage. Fox reversed a whip into a Sling Blade, leading to two Topes before the third saw Fox clear the top with a Somersault Suicida. Back inside, Fox tried a Swanton, but Hechicero got the knees up. Hechicero countered a Tornado DDT into El Conjuro as things went to commercial.

Fox battled back with a kip up enzugiri and leaping corner elbow before a rolling cutter connected. Fox went up top and connected this time with the Swanton for a close two. Hauser called Fox a relatable underdog, as a rolling DVD saw Fox completely miss a 450 Splash, leading to Hechicero to hit the head scissors driver before sinking in the rolling submission for the win.

Match Result: Hechicero defeated AR Fox

-Video package on the ups and downs of Anthony Bowens & Max Caster of the past few months. Both have been losing a whole bunch, Caster has been getting his ass kicked, while Bowens is constantly complaining to Billy Gunn he’s not where he wants to be in his career. I still don’t know why either of these directions should make us want to see an Acclaimed reunion potentially, but I guess this is the direction we might get? Or Bowens turns on Gunn and Caster turns babyface.

**********

-Footage of Harley Cameron, with her face heavily bandaged, watching Megan Bayne slam her face into the ring steps during the No DQ tag match a few months ago was shown. Cameron got up, grabbed a face mask from the closet and did her best Jim Carrey impression from The Mask as she spun about before popping up wearing the mask.

Willow Nightingale, Queen Aminata & Tay Melo vs. Triangle of Madness (Thekla, Julia Hart & Skye Blue)

Thekla & Aminata pick up their feud where they left off, as Aminata tried Chocolate Kisses, but Blue put a stop to it. Hauser said Aminata learned that move from Harley Race, which popped Schiavone. Aminata was able to fight off the numbers, as Melo & Hart both tag in. Melo was visibly frustrated she didn’t get the pin 1 minute into the match, as Nightingale tagged in and flattened Thekla & Hart with a double suplex. Nightingale caught Blue coming off the top and sank in a Camel Clutch. Melo & Aminata cut off Thekla & Hart, as the babyface trio posed while using Blue as a prop and things went to picture in picture.

During break, Nightingale was worked over by Triangle of Madness, but Aminata made the save, planting Blue with a reverse DDT. Melo popped Hart with a pump knee, as Nightingale managed a lariat on Thekla, allowing a hot tag to Aminata. Spinning Fisherman’s Suplex on Blue, but Hart broke the count, only to be sent outside. Blue hit a thrust kick on Aminata who connected on a desperation headbutt, falling back to her corner and Melo tag. DD-Tay connected, but Thekla cut Melo off, did her Spider pose, only to be Pounced in mid-air by Nightingale. Hart cut off Melo from attempting a Gory Special on Blue, leading to a double team spinning Rock Bottom by Hart & Blue, who pinned Melo to win it.

Match Result: Triangle of Madness defeated Willow Nightingale, Queen Aminata & Tay Melo when Blue pinned Melo

-Video package of the feud on Collision between the Don Callis Family and recently formed Sky Flight. They told Callis to keep shooting and tighten your aim up, as they aren’t going nowhere.

-FTR & Stokley are celebrating their victory backstage, as Stokely said Adam Copeland turned him into the monster you saw tonight. After Stokely wins on Dynamite, he’s going to make Copeland his hoe. Wheeler said they’re going after the AEW Tag Team Titles and Harwood said forget his ugly wife and brat daughter, all he cares about is winning the Tag Team Titles back. They’ll beat Brodido and go on to hurt The Hurt Syndicate to reclaim their titles.

Max Caster Open Challenge

Max Caster is in the ring and said Rush survived 5 with the Best Wrestler Alive last week and all the Maximaniacs know to do one thing, chant his name. Let’s Go Max, You’re the Best Wrestler Alive got going, Caster stopped them, but said it was better.

AEW Trio Champion Katsuyori Shibata answered the challenge, as the clock started and Shibata chopped the holy hell out of Caster, whose chest is already beat red. Caster did manage a roll-up for two, but Shibata responded with his stalling dropkick and butterfly suplex. Rear Naked Choke applied, as Shibata quickly hit the PK for the win.

Post-match, Caster slowly got up and Shibata offered a handshake, which Caster accepted. Shibata raised his hand until LFI attacked both men. JetSpeed sprinted out, as Speedball Bailey had a board with a chain wrapped around it, while Kevin Knight wielded a hockey stick as things went to break before the main event.

Match Result: Katsuyori Shibata defeated Max Caster

**********

AEW World Champion Hangman Adam Page & JetSpeed (Speedball Mike Bailey & Kevin Knight) vs. La Faccion Ingobernable (Rush, Dralistico & The Beast Mortos)

(Big time party match to close the show, as the fans were up for it all the way, especially with the AEW World Champ leading the way. LFI got in a lot of offense and I wouldn’t mind if we got a Rush vs. Page match on TV coming out of this, as they worked together quite well. Just a very solid trios match to send the fans home happy and end a pretty action packed episode of Collision.)

Hero’s welcome for Hangman Adam Page, who grew up nearby in Aarons Creek, Virginia. Page starts off with Mortos, as both handsprung to their feet, only Page was there with a big boot. Rush tagged in and immediately started a forearm exchange before switching to chops. Mortos tried a cheap shot on the apron, which was enough for Dralistico & Rush to get in some boots, until JetSpeed made the save. Rush was sent to the outside, as Page met him with an Orihara Moonsault with the fans going nuts. Back inside, Dralistico & Page exchanged chops, until Dralistico ran right into a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. JetSpeed made quick tags, leading to a double gordbuster and dropkick as Dralistico really fought off a Bailey pin attempt before rushing him to his corner. LFI quickly hit locomotion corner splashes and triple snap dropkick until Rush spat at Page. Bailey was worked over until he dodged a Mortos corner splash, as Knight made the hot tag and was moving with lighting quick offense. Rush missed an attack on Knight, but kept running and decked Page as a result. Rush was sent outside with a Knight dropkick, as Dralistico ate a hurricanrana out of the corner, leading to a huge Knight springboard dive as things went to break.

Knight was worked over the entire commercial, as Rush again went to get another shot in on Page, but this time, Page wasn’t having it and decked him. Hot tag by Page, who lit up Rush with forearms in the corner, as Mortos ate a springboard lariat and Dralistico with a Fall Away Slam, as Page followed with a slingshot plancha on Mortos. Back inside, DVD to Rush, who battled back and looked for Bulls Horns, only to be met with a springboard clothesline by Knight. Dralistico flew in with a springing Destroyer, but Bailey saved his partner with a backflip double knee. Mortos laid out Bailey with a pop-up Samoan Drop, as Rush nearly pinned Page with a flash roll-up for two. Springboard crucifix bomb by Dralistico on Page, who again kicked out at two. Page was triple teamed until JetSpeed made the save, only to be flattened by a Mortos Tornillo and Rush Somersault Suicida.

Dralistico tried another springboard, but Page hit a powerbomb in mid-air, allowing him to try a Buckshot, but was hit with a corkscrew kick. JetSpeed flew in with a double team on Dralistico before hitting stereo dives on Rush & Mortos to the floor. Page finally managed a Buckshot to pin Dralistico and win it for his team.

Match Result: Hangman Adam Page & JetSpeed defeated La Faccion Ingobernable when Page pinned Dralistico

Here we are all colliding and stuff off the back of Godzilla, no less! AEW Collision is here and starting now!

And it kicked off in style with the Death Riders wrecking shop! Jon Moxley grabbed a mic and stomped into the ring while Wheeler Yuta and Marina Shafir backed him up. Moxley lamented that Darby Allin survived his trip to Mt Everest and is now in Mox’s business.

Mox called him out and like so many Stings before him, Allin appeared on the balcony of the arena. Allin slinked off, apparently not heading to the ring and the Death Riders left through the crowd to go find him.

A recap of last night’s Dynamite played to bring everyone up to speed.

AEW World Tag Team Title Eliminator Tournament Quarter Final Match: Gates Of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona) vs. Brodido (Bandido & Brody King)

For those not in the know, ROH Champion Bandido is low-key the best champion in wrestling right now. His ROH Title defenses have been instant classics. Gates of Agony are downright terrifying, so no matter who wins the chance to face the Young Bucks in the semi-finals, that match will be a good one.

Bandido kicked things off against Kaun with the latter having a significant size advantage. Bandido’s agility and resiliency off set that though and they flew around the ring. Kaun landed a big lariat, but Bandido was right back up with an arm drag. Then Liona tagged in.

Bandido was more than happy to face Liona, but the crowd wanted King. Liona threw Bandido into the corner and they got their wish. The absolutely massive King stepped in the ring and the meat began a-slappin’.

King and Liona traded chops until King decided to throw a lariat and knock Liona out. Bandido and Kaun tagged back in, but Bandido sent him out. King and Bandido double teamed Liona, with King using Bandido as a weapon.

Liona dragged King out of the ring and back body dropped him on the entrance ramp. Bandido was body dropped by Kaun on the top rope and then tossed out to join his partner. Everyone went back to their corners after that and the match settled for a moment into Kaun and Bandido exchanging holds.

Liona tagged in and he and Kaun double teamed an isolated Bandido in their corner. Kaun made a run across the ring ro take out King before GoA delivered a double backstabber to Bandido. A miscommunication led to Liona accidentally hitting Kaun with Bandido. Bandido tagged in King and he splashed Kaun and Liona in the corner.

Kaun left, but King was able to hit a cannonball in the corner on Liona. He tagged in Bandido and the did a tandem dive through the ropes onto the Gates of Agony on the outside where all four men brawled. Bandido sent Kaun into the first row and King tossed Liona back into the ring.

Bandido went up top and hit a frog splash, but Kaun returned a broke up the pin. Kaun sent King out, twice, and then set Bandido up with Liona’s help for top rope powerbomb. It only resulted in a two count though. Liona took out King on the outside, but he was back to break up a pin attempt.

King picked up Liona (impressive in it’s own right) and then hit a death valley drover on the ring apron (the agony-est part of the ring!). Then he grabbed Kaun and hit a superplex off the top rope! Bandido leapt on him and got the pin, sending Brodido to the semis!

Match Result: Brodido defeated Gates of Agony

A terrific match as expected. Bandido continues to impress, King is a killer and the Gates looked good in this loss, I don’t think it hurts them at all. I mean, it hurt them. But not in terms of character.

-The Don Callis Family joined Lexy Nair backstage. Callis said that his Family is going to be getting all the titles, power and money AEW has to offer. Shane Taylor appeared, looking for the money STP and the Infantry earned on Dynamite last night. Lance Archer stepped in and Callis said that if STP takes out Sky Flight, then they could talk about the money. Taylor was not happy.

-Back from commercial, Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Reilly joined Lexy Nair. Nair asked of Strong was now in the Conglomeration. O’Reilly made the sell, and Ishii, Hologram and Willow Nightingale arrived. Nightingale tee’d up her match and off she went!

-Before the match could start though, we went backstage where the Death Riders were still looking for Darby Allin. Suddenly, Allin appeared out of a dark corner and appeared to chloroform Moxley! The scene switched back to the ring…

Kris Statlander vs Lina Cross

This match happened so fast, I barely had time to keep up. Stalander pushed Cross around off the top, sending her to the mat with a big shoulder. She put Cross up in a stalling suplex and dropped her with precise fashion. Cross fought back with a pump kick and a german suplex, but Statlander overpowered her. Statlander locked in a new submission hold, and Cross tapped out.

Match Result: Kris Statlander defeated Lina Cross

As that match ended, Willow Nightingale’s music played and the two crossed paths without acknowledging each other on the ramp.

Willow Nightingale vs. Thekla (w/Sky Blue and Julia Hart)

Thekla had a serious power disadvantage, with Nightingale throwing her into the corner off the top. Hart and Blue got up in the ring apron to cause a slow-moving distraction and Thekla got a shot in. Nightingale kept control though as the two reset and stared each other down.

Thekla got a shot in on Nightingale’s throat and sent her reeling. Thekla went up top, but Nightingale dodged it and chopped her in the center of the ring. Nightingale hoisted her up and dropped her in the center of the ring for a cross body, followed but a powerful pounce.

Here, they announced that Sky Flight would face Shane Taylor Promotions later in the show.

Thekla sent Nightingale into the steel steps on the outside and then dragged her back into the ring. She peppered Nightingale with kicks and put on a strong chinlock, wrenching Nightingale’s back. Nightingale wouldn’t give up, so Thekla began complaining to the ref. That gave Nightingale an opening and the two traded chops.

Thekla got Nightingale into the corner and put on a headscissor lock over the top rope. Nightingale responded with a big lariat and then two more for good measure. Nightingale hit a shotgun dropkick from the second rope, but only got a two-count.

Thekla resorted to slapping Nightingale in the face, sending her to the ropes. Thekla set her up for a knee shot, but Nightingale played possum and lured her in for a death valley driver. Dragging Thekla to the top rope, Nightingale found herself in trouble as Thekla set her up for a superplex.

Blue and Hart stalked Nightingale on the outside while Thekla dove from the top rope. She threw Nightingale back in and Nightingale went back to the well for a springboard lariat, followed by a cannonball in the corner.

Nightingale went for a powerbomb but Hart and Blue got up on the ring to cause the distraction. That let Thekla get a stomp in on Nightingale’s head and that was in. 1,2,3 Thekla got the win.

Match Result: Thekla defeated Willow Nightingale

After the match, Blue and Hart joined in on a beatdown of Nightingale. However, Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford appeared to make it a 5-on-1 affair. Queen Aminata’s music hit and she came to the ring with Tay Melo and a whole bunch of chairs and pieces of wood. They chased the heels off as The Conglomeration tended to Nightingale.

This was a good match, especially after the weird Statlander squash. The melee at the end was a little too chaotic for me and I lost track of what was going on. That said, there’s a lot of stories running through that group of women, so I’m interested to see where all of it goes.

-Backstage, Billy Gunn joined Lexy Nair. Anthony Bowens arrived and yelled at him for a bit. Gunn said that he didn’t even know who Bowens was any more and left, Bowens calling “coward!” after him.

-A video was shown of Swerve Strickland outside the arena. He called out the Young Bucks and Okada and he promised to be around to take care of them. He challenged Okada for the Unified Championship at Forbidden Door.

-Don Callis and Okada responded right away, saying that Okada has the edge becuase he has Callis himself to advise him. They accepted the challenge and Okada said “let’s just fight, bitch.”

AEW World Tag Team Title Eliminator Tournament Semi Final Match: FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) (w/Stokely) vs. Bang Bang Gang (Austin Gunn & Juice Robinson)(w/ Cardboard Cut out Jay White and Colton Gunn)

So, that’s the longest match heading I think I’ve ever typed. Also, Danny Garcia was on commentary.

The winners of this match move on to the finals for the right to face the Hurt Syndicate LLC, and Robinson and Harwood showed that they both wanted it bad off the top. The battled back and forth until Gunn was tagged in. Harwood sent him to the mat with an arm drag.

Gunn tagged Robinson back in and Harwood drove him into the corner for some chops. Robinson foight back with some chops of his own, sending Harwood face first into the turnbuckle while Bryan Kieth and Big Bill watched backstage at that angle that all wrestlers seem to watch tv.

Wheeler tagged in to face off against Gunn and the two traded chops before Gunn tagged Robinson back in. Things broke down and Gunn and Robinson took out both members of FTR with stereo back body drops and lariats to the outside.

Stokely limped over and gave FTR some words of encouragement while Gunn and Robinson waited in the ring. The match somewhat reset and Harwood and Gunn locked up in the center of the ring. Harwood laid in some big right hands but Gunn fought back until Wheeler kicked him in the back through the ropes.

FTR double teamed Gunn, stomping him by the ropes. Wheeler tagged in a delivered a bunch of suplexes, followed by a sleeper. Gunn fought back, but Harwood tagged in with an abdominal stretch with an assist from Wheeler. The ref caught on though and broke it up. Gunn went for a hot tag but Harwood cut him off.

Gunn finally got the tag, but the ref didn’t see it and sent him back for a double team from FTR. Harwood sent Gunn to the outside where he spiked the camera and dodged as wheeler flew at him from the ring. Wheeler landed on the barricade and Harwood held Gunn until he made the hot tag to Robinson.

Robinson jumped in and cleared the ring. Harwood slipped out of the ring and Robinson followed, sending him back in. Stokely tried to interfere with his crutch, but Robinson kicked it away and set Harwood up on the top rope. Harwood bit Robinson on the head and sent him to Wheeler. Robinson sent Wheeler to the outside.

Gunn hit a suplex from the top rope and Robinson tried a pin. Wheeler jumped from the top rope to break up the pin, but Robinson rolled out of the way and Wheeler hit Harwood instead. Robinson landed a blade runner, but it only resulted in a two-count.

Gunn and Harwood faced off, but neither could get the advantage. Robinson arrived to break up a shatter machine and Gunn hit the fame-ass-er, but again just a two count as Wheeler broke it up. Robinson went after Stokely, but Wheeler sent him into the stairs.

Gunn fought off both Wheeler and Harwood, but the ref was distracted. Harwood and Wheeler double teamed him and Harwood got a rollup to send FTR to the tournament Finals.

Match Result: FTR defeated Bang Bang Gang

There’s a reason FTR matches are some of my favourite of all time. It was super fast, back and forth and the outcome was never obvious for either team. I liked the quick tags, classic heel cheating and of course, the cutouts. The finals of this tournament are going to be hot!

-Backstage, ROH Women’s World Champion Athena cut a promo. She said that it’s going to be really easy to cash in and win the AEW Women’s Championship. Athena said that she is going to use her contract to defeat Toni Storm in London at Forbidden Door.

-In the ring, Max Caster said that he was here to cheer up “Chiraq” by allowing the crowd to chant for him. Which they did. Caster cut them off and said that they couldn’t hang with him, just like Anthony Bowens. He called Bowens a bland, crybaby bitch and issued his Open Challenge. Five minutes went up on the clock and the challenge was answered by…

Rush!

Max Caster vs Rush

So, if you haven’t seen Rush lately he’s very large and has an even larger coat. The bell rang and the challenge was on. Caster immediately dove out of the ring as Rush ran at him. When he tried to get back in, Rush, rushed him again. This went on for a while as the clock ticked down.

Caster jogged around the ring, playing to the crowd while Rush impatiently waited in the ring. Caster got too involved in his showboating though and Rush slipped out a crushed him. As the clock ticked to three minutes, Rush sent Caster into the barricades again and again.

Finally, Rush tossed Caster back into the ring, but Caster leapt to the top rope and hit a cross body from the ring post onto Rush. Two minutes remained as Caster put Rush back into the ring. Caster went for a splash, but Rush dodged it and picked up where he left off pumelling Caster.

Only a minute remained as Rush started some showboating of his own. Caster tried to rush him, but Rush hit a powerslam, unconcerned with the clock as he beat Caster in the corner. With 10 seconds left, Rush lined Caster up, but then the time expired and the bell rang, ending the match,

Rush did not like that and dropkicked Caster in the corner. He demanded that the Ref count the pin, but the ref said the match was over. So the rest of LFI came down to the ring and beat up Caster. Security tried to intervene but they didn’t make much headway until JetSpeed arrived! Everyone battled up the ramp, leaving Caster laying in the ring.

Match Result: Rush defeated Max Caster? I think?

I was really enjoying this spectacle of a match until the weird ending. I love Open Challenges and Caster’s are great, with a pretty good gimmick to them. But it all just seemed kinda pointless, especially once JetSpeed got involved.

Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor and The Infantry – Shawn Dean and Carlie Bravo) Vs Sky Flight (Top Flight – Darius and Daunte Martin – and Scorpio Sky)

This match was set up earlier in the night so that Shane Taylor Promotions could earn the money that they earned on Dynamite last night. The infantry got involved pretty much immediately as Bravo, Dean and Bravo took turns hitting moves on Darius on the ring apron.

STP had complete control of the match in the opening, isolating Daunte and triple teaming him in the corner. STP used every violent trick in the book including a killer one-handed chokeslam from Taylor.

Back from break, Daunte tagged in with Dean and fortunes started to turn for Sky Flight. Daunte got a hot tag to Sky who cleared the ring. Daunte leapt over the top rope taking out Taylor and Bravo. Sky, in the middle of the ring managed to hit his finisher and get the pin.

Match Result: Sky Flight defeated Shane Taylor Promotions

-Backsage the camera showed Darby Allin dragging Jon Moxley to the top of a fire escape. Just as Allin was about to shove Mox off the fire escape and presumably multiple stories down, AEW Security showed up (?) and dragged Allin away.

That was very, very strange. Did Allin just commit attempted murder? Why were there security guys on the fire escape? Where were Yuta and Shafir? I have more questions, but there are only 12 minutes left in the show.

AEW TNT Title Chicago Street Fight: Dustin Rhodes (c) vs. Kyle Fletcher

To shake off the last 20 minutes or so, it’s time for the main event! Dustin Rhodes has found the fountain of youth and has been doing his best work in what should be the twilight of his career. Fletcher is absolutely killer and not only looks like a 2025 Shawn Micheals, he works like him too.

Rhodes laid the hammer down right away, while Don Callis on commentary lamented the use of a closed fist… in a street fight. The match spilled out of the ring and Fletcher found a kendo stick. Rhodes took it away from him and laid in some hard smacks.

Fletcher reversed the favor though, pulling the steel steps away from the ring and hitting a DDT on top of them, sending Rhodes to the ground. Fletcher then went under the ring for a table and leaned it up against the barricade. He laid Rhodes out on it and dove at him through the ring ropes. Rhodes dodged it though and Fletcher flew through the table.

Rhodes grabbed a second table and set it up at ringside. He also pulled a bullrope from under the ring, introducing it to Fletcher’s face. Repeatedly. Rhodes, bleeding from the forehead pulled Fletcher, also bleeding from the forehead, to the ring apron and tried to bulldog Fletcher onto the table. Fletcher grabbed a rope though, so Rhodes went through the table solo.

Back from commercial, Fletcher was whipping Rhodes with his own cowbell, focusing on the knee. Fletcher charged Rhodes who flipped him over with a Code Red. Rhodes began pounding on Fletcher, executing a CrossRhodes, but only getting a two count.

Rhodes went under the ring and grabbed a couple of chairs. Fletcher picked one up and they played lightsabers until Rhodes hit Fletcher in the back. A lot. Rhodes took a little too long to lay in the killing blow and Fletcher kicked the chair back into his face. Fletcher set up two chairs and hit a jumping pile driver on the seats. Rhodes kicked out at two.

Fletcher grabbed a table and brought it into the ring as the show went into overtime. Fletcher pulled Rhodes to the top turnbuckle, looking for a superplex. Rhodes fought back though, sending Fletcher through his own table with a massive Texas Destroyer! Somehow, Fletcher kicked out at two though.

Rhodes went under the ring and pulled out a set of work gloves…. covered in tacks! He went for the Iron Claw, but Fletcher blocked it. Rhodes pushed though though and hit the claw with the tack gloves! What a weird thing to write!

Fletcher got free and brought a whole bag full of tacks unto the ring. He spread them out and went for a suplex. Rhodes reversed it. Then Fletcher reversed it. This went on for a while until Rhodes hit a powerslam right on the tacks!

Fletcher, regretting his choice of outfit, got set up by Rhodes in the corner. Rhodes poured the remainder of the tacks into Fletcher’s trunks and shattered his dreams!

Rhodes pulled Fletcher up, but Callis had slipped Fletcher a screwdriver which he drove into Rhodes’ head. Callis then held Rhodes against the rope while Fletcher stabbed him in the leg over and over. The screwdriver hung out of Rhodes’ leg until a medical staff member pulled it out.

Fletcher hit a brainbuster on Rhodes in the middle of the tacks and got the pin to win the match and the TNT Championship.

Match Result: Kyle Fletcher defeated Dustin Rhodes

After the match, Callis and Fletcher beat on Rhodes with a chair until officials sent them packing.

Wow. That was downright gruesome. Hell of a match and I’m sad to see Rhodes’ title reign end so quickly, but they both earned that match. I’ll say this about AEW; they pack a LOT into two-and-a-bit hours. Two great tag matches, an awesome main event and overall, a pretty good show with only a few confusing moments. But it’s wrestling, there’s always a few confusing moments. Either way, I had fun so mission accomplished, Collision!

**********

The Don Callis Family (Kyle Fletcher, Rocky Romero, Trent Beretta) w/ Lance Archer & Don Callis vs. Paragon (Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, & Kyle O’Reilly)

Fletcher started the match running across the ring to knock Cole to the floor and start fighting with O’Reilly. O’Reilly hit a kitchen sink and tagged out to Cole, but Fletcher fled to the corner and tagged in Beretta. The fans chanted “We want Kyle!” loudly for both Kyle’s, which remains great. Strong and O’Reilly double teamed Beretta to the delight of the fans, before Cole tagged in and hit a dropkick to a seated Beretta.

Beretta was able to get away from Strong with help from Fletcher, and Fletcher took over, getting the heat on Strong for a bit. The heat continued as the Callis family isolated O’Reilly. Beretta got dumped to the floor by O’Reilly, and Strong tagged in and sent Beretta back to the floor and hit Fletcher with a lariat that sent him flying. Strong hit a crucifix into a diamond cutter and an Olympic slam on Beretta before hitting a series of running elbows and a boot for a 2-count.

Fletcher hit an enziguri as Strong hit the ropes and tagged out letting RPG Vice hit a flying knee into a Death Valley Driver for a 2-count. Cole tagged in after Fletcher missed a helluva kick in the corner, hitting a brainbuster into neckbreaker on Beretta. Cole challenged Fletcher to get into the ring so they could fight and they started exchanging strikes, with Fletcher hitting a half nelson suplex but Cole superkicked him at a corner charge and hit the Panama Sunrise for a 2-count. Fletcher hit Cole with a lariat and tagged back out to Beretta. O’Reilly saved Cole from a Jackal Driver, and Cole hit the boom for a 3-count.

Match Result: Paragon via pinfall

–Fletcher tried to attack Cole as he left, but Cole turned around holding the TNT title and stopped the attack. Cole asked him to fight, as Callis screamed “Don’t take the bait!” and Fletcher listened, content to wait until Saturday at All In.

–Jon Moxley was backstage after Dynamite with the Death Riders, saying that pro wrestling is the greatest sport in the world, and very few people have the will to do what it takes to be one. Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, and Gabe Kidd made it clear they were after the trios title, and Moxley ended with saying that if you wanted to make it as a wrestler, you needed to be All In, otherwise you were all out, implying that Hangman really doesn’t know what is coming for him.

–Technique from Taz returned for the first time in a long time, as he broke down how Mistico does an armbar, including the phrase on screen “Core Strength Jones” which was great. This was really good overall.

–The recapped the return of Scorpio Sky and his now public alliance with Top Flight and Christopher Daniels. He called his new alliance Sky Flight, and Daniels cut a promo about how all the titles are on the table for what they want, as the sky is no limit. I liked this a lot.

Mistico vs. The Beast Mortos

Mistico and Mortos had a great lucha match, and wasted no time in working fast in this one. Mistico hit a tope suicida, but Mortos no sold it, and Mistico tried again, this time dropping Mortos. Mistico took Mortos’ hand and ran up the ropes twisting into an armdrag. Mortos hit a series of hard strikes afterwards, and a powerslam that put a sudden stop to Mistico’s attempts to control the offence. Mortos continued the heat through the break, working over the knee of Mistico.

Mortos caught Mistico in a torture rack position, but Mistico shifted his weight and spun around Mortos into a headscissors takedown before hitting a springboard elbow for a 2-count. Mistico went for La Mistica, but Mortos slammed him face down before he could complete the spin. Mortos went for a powerbomb, but Mistico floated over into a sunset flip bomb, which was really cool.

Mortos picked up Mistico in a tombstone position and jumped backwards into a lung blower. Mortos and Mistico slightly botched a counter from a tilt-a-whirl, but recovered and hit a beautiful one. Mistico hit a superkick and a flipping DDT on Mortos. Mistico hit the ropes soon thereafter and hit La Mistica to a great reaction from the fans.

Match Result: Mistico via submission

–MJF appeared on the screen with the mask he stole from Mistico, saying that Mistico stood no chance of stopping MJF from beating Mark Briscoe, saying he was going to win within 3 seconds. MJF said that he would keep collecting Mistico’s masks until he took them all if Mistico managed to get into the Casino Gauntlet.

–Mark Briscoe was backstage, saying that he was coming to win the Casino Gauntlet. It wasn’t just about business though, but personal, because MJF did use Jay Briscoe’s name and disrespected his family, and it was no longer just about winning, but he is going to look his family in the eyes after the match, saying he wasn’t going to let MJF get away with what he said and did. Mark Briscoe continues to be one of the best characters on AEW TV here, with an incredible promo.

–Renee Paquette met Hangman Adam Page after Dynamite last night, talking about how he needs to talk about what happened, but not with Renee, and he walked into Swerve Strickland’s locker room. Ospreay immediately stood up to get between them, but Hangman asked for 2 minutes of Swerve’s time, and Ospreay left the room as Hangman thanked him for all he has done. Prince Nana said he was going to grab coffee and let them talk.

Swerve said that he knew what this was about, thinking Hangman wanted to ask for his help. Hangman said he was going into a suicide mission on Sunday, and he might not have the chance to talk after All In, so he sat down with Swerve. Hangman said that he had nothing to do with what the Bucks did at Dynasty, which Swerve believed. Hangman went on to say that what Swerve did to him has led to his son still having nightmares to this day, and that he hates him for that, but he regrets how far it all went.

Hangman said he needed to know if Swerve regretted what happened, and Swerve said that since he was champion, he realized that it was not worth what he did. Hangman said his family was going to be at All In before the show, but not during, and Swerve promised to avoid them, saying he hoped they enjoyed hanging out. Swerve said that he was planning to raise his kids in the house that Hangman burnt down, but maybe it was time to let go of the past after all. The segment ended with Swerve picking up the chain Hangman left on the floor, wrapping it around his fist, thinking about this apparent truce with Hangman Adam Page. This was an awesome segment.

–Jon Moxley came out as Nigel McGuinness and Tony Schiavone were discussing what just happened, and Moxley took a mic saying it made him sick seeing that crybaby stuff. Marina Shafir insulted Hangman, and Moxley said that there would be no apologies after what he does at All In, and Hangman had 2 days before Moxley ended him. This was awesome too.

FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) (w/ Stokley Hathaway) & The Patriarchy (Christian Cage & Nick Wayne) w/ Mother Wayne & Kip Sabian vs. The Outrunners (Turbo Floyd & Truth Magnum) & Jet Speed (Kevin Knight & Mike Bailey)

Bailey started the match beating up Nick Wayne, tagging out to Knight to continue the assault. Wayne fled from the ring after a 2-count. Christian attacked Knight, but ate a dropkick after two leap frogs from Knight. Nigel McGuinness claimed that Christian should adopt Kevin Knight as well, as it would help him become a better competitor, which made me laugh.

Dax Harwood tagged in and beat on Truth Magnum, but Magnum fired back out of the corner, hitting a headscissors before hitting a double team knee lift into a back suplex from Floyd for a 2-count. Kevin Knight tagged in, and Harwood drove him backwards into he corner, but it broke down into all 4 men being in the ring and brawling around ringside.

Harwood low bridged Knight as he hit the ropes going for a dive, and they went to the break as the referee tried to get control again. They came back from the break with Harwood locking Knight in a chinlock, but Knight escaped with a jaw breaker. Knight went for the tag, but Harwood cut him off, so Knight dodged a corner charge, but Wayne stopped the tag. Knight kicked Wayne in the face, flipped over him, and tagged out to Truth Magnum, and the Outrunners ran wild, hitting a double clothesline on Christian and Nick Wayne before hitting the SOB elbow.

Harwood and Christian pulled Magnum into the ring post, allowing Wayne to hit sliced bread for a 2-count. Christian tagged in and started choking Magnum on the ropes. Magnum hit a snap suplex on Wayne, but was shoved back into the corner by Harwood. Magnum fought out of the corner, but as he made the tag, the referee was distracted and missed tag, which let the heels continue to beat on Magnum, which got a massive amount of heat from the audience. Sometimes, the simple things just work, and this is one that always does in wrestling. Wheeler tried to stop Magnum a few minutes later, but Magnum leaped over Harwood as he dived, and tagged out to Bailey, who hit a series of kicks and a standing shooting star press on Harwood for a 2-count.

The fans were very displeased with the referee for that 2-count. Wheeler stopped Bailey from getting on the ropes and hitting Ultima Weapon, but Bailey dropped him and Wayne before hitting a slingshot moonsault to the floor, and then a shooting star press on Harwood for a 2-count as Christian broke it up.

All 8 men started exchanging big moves until FTR hit the Shatter Machine on The Outrunners. They tried to hit Bailey, but Knight speared Wheeler, and Bailey hit a sunset flip on Harwood for a nearfall that was so close the fans were infuriated. Christian got hit with a combo from The Outrunners while Bailey hit a spinning kick on Harwood before Knight hit the UFO splash on Harwood for the win. This was a giant win for Jet Speed that they needed going into the PPV.

Match Result: Jet Speed & The Outrunners

This match was so awesome. A party match in the truest sense, with Jet Speed getting a much needed big win before the PPV.

–Big Boom AJ was with Lexy Nair and called out the Don Callis family, and Big Justice and the Rizzler announced that he would teaming with The Conglomeration to face RPG Vice, Lance Archer, & Hechicero, but they were short once guy. Kyle O’Reilly popped in and told people he was still down for conglomerating and is the 4th man in the match.

–Stokley Hathaway was backstage, saying that he made the mistake of trusting Christian Cage for the last time, and that at All In, they would face the Outrunners and end their feud once and for all.

Kaysuyori Shibata vs. Gabe Kidd (w/ Marina Shafir)

Shibata and Kidd immediately started brawling in the middle of the ring with hard forearms, spilled to the floor, and continued to fight, as Shibata hit a huge helluva kick on Kidd that almost sent him into the front row as the teacher beats on the student. Must have felt like it did in the dojo. Kidd managed to plant Shibata in the corner, hitting a dropkick and posing like Shibata.

Kidd chopped Shibata, and Shibata invitd more strikes, firing up, but he was dropped by a chop. Shibata kicked out at 1. Kidd did some squats to mock his teacher, so Shibata hit a hard chop that almost dropped Kidd. Both men hit chops before Kidd hit a headbutt that dropped Shibata. Kidd screamed “You did this. You made me do this!” as he beat on Shibata in the corner, and Shibata started no selling the hard chops before turning Kidd around, chopping him in the throat, and hitting the corner dropkick.

Kidd hit a chop to the back of Shibata that was so loud, that the crowd screamed. Kidd sat down, challenging Shibata, and Shibata hit Kidd with a slap to the top of the head, before hitting a pump kick and a hard lariat that caused Kidd to flip backwards. Kidd hit a closed fist punch, but Shibata hit hard chops that made the crowd scream again, before hitting a kick and locking on a sleeper. Wheeler Yuta ran down to distract the referee and Kidd hit a low blow before piledrving Shibata.

Match Result: Gabe Kidd

My goodness, this was a great match. It was not quite a G1 level match, but it was pretty darn close. They hit each other hard repeatedly for 10+ minutes. This was great.

–Kris Statlander came down to the ring as the Death Riders fled the ringside area, with Yuta eying her. Statlander joined the commentary booth for the next match. I liked how that tied together between the two segments, transitioning to the next match but keeping the story with Statlander and the Death Riders in mind.

Willow Nightingale, Mina Shirakawa, Thunder Rosa, & Queen Aminata vs. Megan Bayne (w/ Penelope Ford), Thekla, Julia Hart (w/ Skye Blue), & Athena (w/ Billie Starks)

Athena and Shirakawa started the match, with the home state hero, Athena getting a great reaction. Rosa tagged in after a bit to fight with Athena, anticipating their ROH Women’s World Championship match tomorrow night at ROH Supercard of Honor. Athena and Bayne ended up double teaming Rosa and Willow Nightingale, as Nigel McGuinness said that Athena’s title reign exceeded Bryan Danielson’s world title reign. I love McGuinness’ commitment to burying Danielson.

Bayne launched Athena through the ropes into a suicide dive on Nightingale. Bayne tagged in Thekla, who hit a snapmare and superkick on Rosa. The fans were chanting for Aminata and actually booed when Rosa tagged in Nightingale, which I did not expect, but the fans wanted to see Thekla and Aminata fight again. Athena tagged in and got the heat on Nightingale in the corner. Athena hit a running meteora on Nightingale.

Hart tagged in and did the tarantula on Nightingale and attempted to float through the ropes, but Nightingale caught her and hit a Death Valley Driver. Nightingale tagged out to Aminata, to a great reaction, so props to the agents for giving her the hot tag here, or the wrestlers knowing to wait it out to tag her in. Thekla ducked under a clothesline and hit a pump kick on the apron. Aminata hit a headbutt on Thekla before hitting a twist and shout that Thekla sold like death.

Bayne came in and faced off with Aminata, and Bayne hit a falcon arrow. Bayne hit the ropes, but Nightingale came out of nowhere and hit a pounce that sent Bayne to the floor. Athena flew off the top rope with the O-Face out of nowhere, and Mina Shirakawa flew off the top rope onto Bayne on the floor. Hart hit a moonsault on Nightingale, but Shirakawa made the save, and she signaled to Nightingale to hit stereo top rope moves, but they were cut off by Hart and Thekla.

Hart and Thekla both hit suplexes but stayed in the tree of woe on opposite side of the ring. Thekla did her crab walk thing, and Aminata pulled Thekla from the ring, but Bayne leveled Aminata. Shirakawa hit a tornado DDT on the floor on Bayne while Athena and Rosa both clotheslined each other and went down. Hart went for an octopus stretch, but Nightingale fought out and hit the Babe with the Powerbomb for the pinfall.

Match Result: Willow Nightingale, Mina Shirakawa, Thunder Rosa, & Queen Aminata

–The heels started beating down the babyfaces, but Tay Melo & Anna Jay ran down to make the save. Penelope Ford got involved, as did Statlander, and the women in the Casino Gauntlet all started fighting as the show went off the air.

Final Thoughts

This was another excellent episode of AEW Collision, with several matches being built up very well. The angle with Hangman and Swerve, and the following promo with Moxley were must see. The 8-man tag and Shibata vs. Gabe Kidd were fantastic matches that you should go out of your way to see.

**********

Adam Cole opened the show, making his way down to the ring to hype up the crowd. Cole introduced the 100th episode of Collision and he thanked the fans for their support, saying he is proud to represent TNT as the TNT Champion, and that he is optimistic for the future of AEW. Cole promised to hold onto the championship for the future into 2026, and he was interrupted by Kyle Fletcher.

Fletcher claimed that the future of the company belonged to him, and said he was going to take the TNT title from Cole. Fletcher reminded Cole that he and MJF beat Aussie Open at All In 2023 when they won the ROH World Tag Team Championship. Fletcher said that he was not the same wrestler he was back then, and this time, when they faced off at All In, he wanted a match with Cole, and he was going to win the TNT Championship.

Daniel Garcia came out and pointed out that he is the future of AEW, not Fletcher, and that when he sees Adam Cole in the ring, he is distracted and tempted to look past Fletcher, because he wants the TNT Championship back.

Cole responded that he would give Garcia a chance anytime he wanted, and that Fletcher needed the help of the Don Callis family to survive the last time they were in the ring. Cole said that as he was a fighting champion and he would fight them both. Fletcher protested, pointing out that he beat Garcia in the Continental Classic last year when Garcia was TNT Champion and never got a shot, so he deserves the shot one-on-one. Garcia responded that he didn’t want the title shot as a reward, but that he wanted to earn it, while reminding people that he may lose, but he always gets back up, so he wanted to make his match with Fletcher tonight a chance at a title shot. Cole agreed.

–A hype video aired for Toni Storm and Mercedes Mone that was incredible. Storm talked about how not everything in life was worth fighting over, but sometimes you find that one thing that is worth losing blood over, and for Storm, it is the AEW Women’s World Championship. She said that the match at All In would not be pretty, and it would be a fight that might discourage girls from becoming wrestlers because it was so violent. She also said that there were two types of people in wrestling – the egotistical, greedy, selfish people that want it all, and the people that take them down. Excellent video.

Shelton Benjamin (w/ MVP) vs. Nick Wayne (w/ Mother Wayne & Kip Sabian) vs. Kevin Knight (w/ Mike Bailey)

Benjamin spent the early part of the match throwing Wayne and Knight around the ring until Knight cradled Benjamin as he ran at him, but he kicked out. Wayne and Knight dropkicked Benjamin from the ring, and Wayne hit a flying uppercut on Knight before going after the ribs in the corner. Wayne walked backwards into Benjamin and realized he was in trouble, as Benjamin suplexed him and then tossed Wayne to the floor.

Benjamin slammed Wayne on the floor, as Mother Wayne looked on concerned. Wayne escaped Benjamin and locked Knight in a chinlock back in the ring. Knight hit the ropes, Wayne dropped down, and Benjamin came in and popped Knight up into the air for him to crash down to the mat. Benjamin hit a tilt-a-whirl slam on Wayne, and Knight flew off the ropes into a sunset flip on Benjamin, but Wayne broke it with a crucifix on Knight and Knight kicked out. Both Wayne and Knight then superkicked Benjamin, sending him back into the corner.

Knight sent Wayne across the ring into the arms of Benjamin who powerbombed Wayne into Knight, hit a German suplex on Wayne, and another on Knight. Benjamin then started several German suplexes on both men, throwing people around like they weighed nothing, hitting flying knees on both men. Knight low bridged Benjamin and Wayne flew over Knight with a tope con giro onto Benjamin which Knight followed with a springboard clothesline on both men.

Wayne bit a code red back in the ring on Knight for a 2-count. Knight hit a dropkick on Wayne for a 2-count. Benjamin ducked under a Knight attack, locking on an ankle lock. Nick Wayne hit a superkick on Benjamin, then Wayne’s World. As he went for the pin, Knight flew off the ropes with a UFO splash onto Wayne and Benjamin to pin Benjamin for the win.

Match Result: Kevin Knight

Excellent match from these guys, though the heat was not very high for it. Of course, it wouldn’t be given the beating Knight and Bailey took on Dynamite making people believe that they did not stand a chance here. Thankfully, they gave Knight the win, clean as a sheet, which adds at least a little doubt about the Hurt Syndicate winning at All In.

–The Death Riders were walking out of the building after Dynamite, refusing an interview until Claudio Castagnoli stopped and turned to the camera, saying he was getting sick of the Opps, and how he, Yuta, and a partner were coming for their AEW Trios Championships at All In. Solid promo. Who will their partner be, given PAC is out injured?

The Conglomeration (Mark Briscoe & Hologram) & Mistico vs. Roppongi Vice (Rocky Romero & Trent Beretta) & Hechicero

Mistico got a superstar reaction coming out, which always makes me smile. Mistico and Romero started the match, with Mistico hitting a lucha arm drag on Romero before tagging out to Briscoe, who hit a series of chops and strikes with his redneck kung fu. Hologram handed Briscoe a chair and Briscoe went for a dive to the floor off the chair, but Beretta shoved the chair out of the way and then hit a drop toe hold onto the chair on Briscoe as the referee’s back was turned.

The heels got the heat on Briscoe for the next few minutes. When they came back from the break Hologram was hitting a headscissors takedown on Hechicero. RPG Vice tried to hit a double team move but only succeeded in swinging Hologram backwards around Beretta leading into a poisonrana of sorts. It took all three men of the Don Callis Family to stop Hologram, with Romero hitting a flying knee on Hologram who was draped on the ropes, and a running knee from Beretta. Hechicero flipped Hologram into the air into an armbar, but Briscoe broke it up.

Romero celebrated hitting a kick on Mistico, but ate a monkey flip from Hologram. Beretta floored Hologram, and it left Briscoe in the ring with Beretta, who was quickly dumped to the floor. Briscoe hit a flip dive off the apron on Romero before setting up two chairs with Hologram and hitting stereo tope con giro as Mistico hit La Mistica on Romero for the finish.

Match Result: Mark Briscoe, Hologram, & Mistico

–MJF and MVP appeared on the screen, and MVP said that while Briscoe wanted to chat one-on-one, MJF doesn’t chat without his crew with him, and that Mistico has no chance of coming up for the Casino Gauntlet Match as MJF was going to beat Briscoe before anyone else could make their entrance.

–Swerve Stricktland, Anna Jay, and AEW were present for a NASCAR race, and showed the stars hanging out with the pit crews and drivers, promoting the event, while they also promoted AEW. This was cool! AEW stars are frequently at sports events and almost never show it, so this was a win. Show this stuff more often, as it makes the wrestlers look like huge stars.

–Max Caster was in the ring for his open challenge, and they started to chant his chant. Caster claimed they were making funny of him, so they should chant “This crowd sucks!” The crowd then chanted “This crowd sucks!” which was hilarious. They put a 5 minute timer on the video awaiting the challenger. They showed Scorpio Sky training with Christopher Daniels as his coach, and Top Flight as his trainees, to a great reaction from his hometown crowd.

Max Caster vs. Scorpio Sky (w/ Christopher Daniels)

Caster jumped Sky to start the match, but it was less than 15 seconds before Sky turned it around, hit a TKO, and pinned Caster as the fans were chanting “Welcome back!” at him.

Match Result: Scorpio Sky

It is really great to see Scorpio Sky back. I had been wondering where he was, and he looked in incredible shape here.

–Ricochet was with Lexy Nair and he refused to expose what he was talking about with the Gates of Agony last week, saying that actions speak louder than words, and led the camera back to a laid out Blake Christian and Lee Johnson, who were destroyed by the Gates of Agony. It seems Ricochet has found his crew, and it wasn’t Christian and Johnson, but Ricochet did say they have to earn his respect.

Willow Nightingale vs. Viperess

Nigel McGuinness said that it is impossible to hate Nightingale, saying he tried his best, but failed. That was a great line. Kris Statlander was shown watching the match backstage while Wheeler Yuta walked up, and Statlander insisted that she did not need Yuta’s help as Nightingale hit a pounce on Viperess and a powerbomb for the pinfall.

Match Result: Willow Nightingale

–Renee Paquette walked up to Anthony Bowens backstage, saying that his match did not go as he wanted, and before he could talk, Billy Gunn walked up and said that he wasn’t out there because he believed that Bowens didn’t want him there. The division between them seemingly mended when Bowens said he wanted results now, and Gunn said that he just needed to trust in him, and they would get through this.

FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) (w/ Stokley Hathaway) vs. The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd)

McGuinness claimed Turbo Floyd was one of the Garbage Pail Kids, with another gem of a line. The Outrunners and FTR broke down into a brawl early on, with The Outrunners sending FTR to the floor. Hathaway started shouting at Tony Schiavone in response to this, which caused Schiavone to exclaim, “You’re trouble!” I love Tony Schiavone. Truth Magnum hit an old school headscissors takedown on Cash Wheeler before Wheeler tagged out to Harwood.

As Harwood beat on Floyd, FTR pulled some old school tag team tactics with the abdominal stretch and holding each other’s hands, and switching partners behind the referee’s back. As the referee turned around, he saw Wheeler in the ring, who is noticeably not bald, so twin magic did not work here, and the referee demanded Wheeler leave the ring. That was hilarious. Floyd managed to tag out after reversing a suplex by Wheeler. Wheeler stopped the SOB Elbow and they took Floyd to the floor, smashing his leg between the ring steps and the post.

Harwood punched Truth Magnum right between the eyes, and he started bleeding just above the bridge of his nose. Wheeler hit a knee breaker on the ring steps on Floyd as Magnum was bleeding everywhere in the ring thanks to Harwood. Harwood hit a brainbuster and tagged out to Wheeler. Magnum dodged a dropkick in the corner from Wheeler, kicked Harwood as he went for back body drop, and almost made the tag, but Wheeler pulled Floyd from the apron preventing the tag.

FTR hit a double team DDT on Magnum, and Wheeler put his foot on Magnum’s chest for a pinfall attempt, but Magnum kicked out and fought off a superplex attempt in the corner. Harwood blocked him from a tag, and both men hit clotheslines as Magnum fought out of the corner and were down. Wheeler pulled Floyd from the apron again, but Floyd hit a strike on Harwood, letting Magnum roll him up for a 2-count. FTR then hit a powerbomb into a neckbreaker for a 2-count, and Harwood missed a Harley Race style headbutt and Magnum finally got the tag.

Floyd came in and had trouble bodyslaming Harwood, but hit a lariat and a bodyslam after great effort. The SOB elbow saw them both able to stand and they hit it on Wheeler for a 2-count as the fans started to go nuts. Wheeler hit a dragon screw leg whip on Floyd, leading to Floyd being on the apron. Floyd hit a sunset flip on Wheeler, but Wheeler kicked out. The Outrunners hit the Shatter Machine and almost got the win, but Harwood barely made the save. Wheeler floated over the back of Floyd and Floyd turned into a Shatter Machine for the pinfall, as the camera showed Hathaway holding the foot of Magnum, preventing him from making the save.

Match Result: FTR

This was an incredible tag team match. Both teams work together well, and just know what to do to tell a compelling story throughout the match. All 4 guys worked very hard, and FTR gave The Outrunners everything before beating them, including an excuse for the loss. While I think it might have been a good call to have The Outrunners go over here, I don’t think this loss hurt them. That said, being the team that comes close and always loses is no way for them to stay over long term. They need to do something with these guys, and it felt like they were heating back up here in this match, so I hope AEW takes advantage of it.

TayJay (Anna Jay & Tay Melo), Queen Aminata, & Thunder Rosa vs. Julia Hart, Megan Bayne, Athena, & Thekla (w/ Penelope Ford)

Thekla started the match with Aminata, hitting a headscissors and a strike. Aminata hit a slap that rocked Thekla, who smiled and tagged out to Julia Hart. Hart did not last long before Rosa and Bayne ended up in the ring, with Rosa hitting a dropkick that didn’t even move Bayne. Bayne dumped Rosa into the corner, hit a chop, and missed a corner charge. Rosa hit a dropkick from the top rope that dropped Bayne.

Aminata hit a flying double stomp on Bayne, but Bayne stood up and Aminata tagged back out to Rosa to begin to double team Bayne, who hit a flying clothesline that dropped both wrestlers. Bayne hit a running helluva kick in the corner and tagged out to Thekla. Rosa and Thekla exchanged hard shots in the middle of the ring until Thekla locked her version of the tarantula in the corner on Rosa. Anna Jay saved Rosa from a submission, and Thekla squared off with Jay as Hart had Rosa in the opposite corner, with Hart and Thekla both suplexing their opponents, then Hart moonsaulting into the feet of Thunder Rosa.

Tay Melo tagged in and hit a black hole slam and three helluva kicks in the corner on Thekla. Anna Jay came in and hit a gory bomb into a knee from Tay Melo, but the heels broke up the pinfall. The match broke down into everyone hitting big moves, including Athena sending Jay into a headlock from Melo, elbowing Melo, and forcing Melo to accidentally DDT her own partner. Rosa and Athena then brawled all around ringside, setting up their match for Friday’s ROH PPV.

Anna Jay hit a DDT on Bayne, but Penelope Ford distracted the referee and Skye Blue sent Melo into the guardrail behind the referee’s back. Bayne missed a spear attempt on Jay, hitting the ring post, but Ford distracted her and Bayne hit a flying clothesline and huge powerbomb for the win. I like that running powerbomb as her finish more than the F5.

Match Result: Megan Bayne, Julia Hart, Thekla, & Athena

–Another Alex Windsor hype video aired, as she discussed her torn ACL, and how she refused to give up, wanting to show her son that she can win gold. This was very good.

Kyle Fletcher (w/ Don Callis & Lance Archer) vs. Daniel Garcia (w/ Matt Menard)

Fletcher and Garcia started the match exchanging holds and a brief dance off. There was a very loud piped in “This is awesome!” chant that the crowd was clearly not chanting. I imagine they were chanting something very rude about Don Callis, as Callis was upset, and Garcia flipped off Callis. Garcia sent Fletcher to the floor, but he ate a pump kick from Fletcher. Callis stood up and hugged Fletcher, which proved to be a distraction that allowed Garcia to drop Fletcher.

Garcia and Cole bumped fists, but Fletcher sprung back up and sent Garcia into the guardrail like a lawn dart and he came up covered in blood. When the came back from the break, a bloody Garcia was fighting on the apron over a suplex, and Garcia hit a German suplex on the apron before hitting a shotgun dropkick as Fletcher was sitting on a chair against the guardrail. Garcia hit a superplex and rolled over into a pinfall attempt, but only got a 2-count. Fletcher hit a superkick on Garcia and a Last Ride powerbomb for a 2-count.

Fletcher went for a corner charge, but Garcia took the leg and locked on the dragon tamer, but Fletcher reached back as Garcia leaned back and put him in a headlock, forcing the break of the whole. Garcia stood up and tried to suplex Fletcher, and both men spilled over the top rope to the floor. Fletcher hit a half nelson suplex on the floor on Garcia, who seemed to be in a daze as Fletcher picked him up. Fletcher picked Garcia up and powerbombed him into the apron, and Cole got flashbacks to when Fletcher did that to him. Cole stood up and started encouraging Garcia to get up, but Flechter ran in with a helluva kick and hit a vertical drop brainbuster on Garcia for the win.

Match Result: Kyle Fletcher

This was an awesome match, start to finish. Fletcher and Garcia have excellent chemistry, and Fletcher continues to be one of the hottest rising stars in the company. I think Fletcher should probably win the TNT title from Adam Cole at All In, and then go from there. He should absolutely be factored into the main event scene when Ospreay finally wins the title, presumably next year, and I would have Fletcher beat him for the title after Ospreay’s run is over. We shall see if that is what will happen over the next few years, but it seems Fletcher is destined to be a big time main eventer for AEW.

Final Thoughts

While none of the very top stars were on this show, this was nonetheless an excellent edition of AEW Collision, with several matches being setup for All In. Even though it is a B-show, it was a B-show that advanced many of the midcard stories leading into the PPV, which is exactly what they should be doing with Collision every week (with the occasional A-level episode). This week’s show is definitely worth a watch for the FTR/Outrunners match and Fletcher/Garcia alone.

AEW Collision live results: Adam Cole vs. Josh Alexander TNT title match

Reigning TNT Champion Adam Cole will put his title on the line against former TNA World Champion Josh Alexander on tonight’s AEW Collision from Kent, Washington.

Like others, Cole has been feuding with the Don Callis Family recently and issued an open challenge to anyone in the faction. He will be looking for the third title of his run while Alexander has lost two straight. This will be their first ever singles bout.

The Callis Family will be represented in two other matches as Rocky Romero & Hechicero take on Brody King & Templario while Kyle Fletcher goes one-on-one with Kyle O’Reilly.

FTR will confront The Outrunners while The Patriarchy’s Christian Cage & Nick Wayne will be in action against Big Bill & Bryan Keith.

The women will also be represented as Megan Bayne takes on VertVixen while Queen Aminata battles Skye Blue.

The show is airing Thursday at 8 PM Eastern due to NASCAR coverage this Saturday on TNT.

**********

AEW Collision opened with FTR and The Outrunners coming out to the ring, with FTR intending to address The Outrunners attacking them and standing against them on Dynamite last night. FTR had a video made to highlight their friendship, saying that The Outrunners were jealous of the success of FTR. Harwood said that they failed in their quest to become AEW World Tag Team champions, and that is why they attacked FTR last week.

Harwood did a lot of talking here, not letting The Outrunners talk, but once he said they would never be as good as FTR, they took their time to talk. Truth Magnum, from Seattle, where the show was, pointed out that the fans would always believe in them, and they the fans, and their biggest mistake was believing in FTR. Turbo Floyd said that he wanted a fight with them, but Stokely Hathaway said that they didn’t fight for free, so they could fight next week in California.

–A recap video aired of the Young Bucks moving Swerve and Ospreay’s match up to the first match on the show, and Swerve and Ospreay challenged them to a match for their EVP titles with the company, and how the Bucks suspended Swerve for a week for attacking a referee, and then cut to the Bucks beating up Hangman Page, and Swerve was unable to join in for the save since he was suspended. I really liked how they cut those two angles together, showing the implication that the heroes tried to save Hangman, but couldn’t because Swerve was not there to round out the team.

The Patriarchy (Christian Cage & Nick Wayne) (w/ Kip Sabian & Mother Wayne) vs. The Learning Tree (Big Bill & Bryan Keith)

This match started slow, with Keith and Wayne opening. Eventually Wayne tagged out to Christian and Keith tagged out to Bill, which made Christian afraid. Christian ate a punch and immediately tagged out to Wayne, who was forced to come in and fell victim to Bill and Keith double teaming him. Wayne shoved Bill, who came into the ring and took Wayne, who cockily turned his back on Bill, into a Gorilla Press and tossed him at Christian Cage.

When the came back from the break, Christian and Wayne were beating on Keith in the corner, with Wayne hitting a vertical suplex. Christian tagged back in and hit an inverted DDT on Keith for a 2-count. Christian went for the Killswitch, but Keith fought out and both men bumped heads and went down. Keith tagged out to Bill while Christian tagged out to Wayne, and Bill started the hot tag. Wayne launched off the top rope and Bill hit a big boot, then jumped over a spear attempt from Christian and hit a big boot on him.

Bill hit a black hole slam on Wayne and tagged back out to Keith. Keith hit a Northern Lights Suplex on Wayne for a 2-count. Sabian tried to interfere, so Bill threw him into the timekeeper area and started beating on him. As Keith hit a powerbomb on Wayne, Mother Wayne jumped up on the apron and distracted the referee, allowing Christian to recover and break the pinfall attempt. Bill missed a charge at Christian, leading to Bill running into the ring post, while Christian hit a spear on Keith who was attempting to powerbomb Wayne again for the win.

Match Result: The Patriarchy defeated The Learning Tree (Big Bill & Bryan Keith)

–Josh Alexander was backstage, saying that he was going to beat Adam Cole for the TNT Championship tonight, freeing him of the burden of carrying the title. Alexander promised that he was going to break the ankle of Cole, sending him to the injury list again.

–MVP met Christian and Nick Wayne backstage, saying that he was impressed with their wins, but that the Nick Wayne was just a kid, but that if he and Wayne went against the Hurt Syndicate, he couldn’t win with Wayne, and that they didn’t stand a chance against the Hurt Syndicate. Christian Cage said that if he wanted the tag titles, they would have them. MVP said “Good luck, because you’ll need it.” This was a good segment, where we finally see people aiming to get the tag titles.

Brody King & Templario vs. The Don Callis Family (Rocky Romero & Hechicero)

Templario & Hechicero started the match, to the delight of the fans as they were getting lucha. Hechicero tried to intimidate Brody King. It did not work. Templario hit a hurricanrana on Hechicero, but Hechicero hit a flying knee leading to King to blind tag in. Romero demanded to tag in, and went face to chest with King, with Romero attempting to knock King down with shoulder tackles, which was a funny image. Hechicero and King ended up on the apron exchanging strikes, while Romero hit a dropkick to the knee of King, allowing the heels to start to beat on the bigger man.

Templario blind tagged in and hit a crossbody on Hechicero, and King slammed Romero onto his partner and hit a senton. When we came back from break, Templario hit a face first suplex on Hechicero before tagging out to King. King hit a cannonball in the corner on Hechicero, but Romero broke it up. King hit the ropes, but Romero low bridged him while Hechicero locked a leg submission on Templario and Romero hit a flying knee off the apron on King.

Templario made the ropes, and Hechicero was very upset. Templario hit a wheelbarrow suplex. King tagged in and Romero tried to chop him. This did not work. Hechicero choked him in the ropes instead, but while Hechicero was trying to do this, King walked forward, pulling Hechicero onto the ropes letting Templario to hit a flying double stomp on Hechicero and then a Sasuke Special to the floor. King hit the Gonzo Bomb on Romero for the pinfall. This was a really fun match.

Match Result: Brody King & Templario defeated The Don Callis Family

–A hype video aired for Mercedes Mone and all her titles, and it was inter-cut with a hype video for Toni Storm, but Mone cut the film off literally, hitting a projector with a bat. Mone said that Storm was a faker, and that their match would be a beautiful murder that she wrote. That was a good pun. Mone invited Storm to ringside for her match against Mina Shirakawa next week, as she wrestles her 1000th match.

–Toni Storm was with Mina Shirakawa backstage, and Storm was promising revenge against Mone, but Shirakawa said that she did not want storm to get involved in her TBS title match against Mone. Storm agreed, but asked that Shirakawa leave something left for her at All In.

Megan Bayne (w/ Penelope Ford) vs. Vertvixen

Bayne hit a running kick and a butterfly suplex on Vertvixen to open the match. Bayne hit Fate’s Descent soon after for the pinfall.

Match Result: Megan Bayne defeated Vertvixen

–Anthony Bowens was backstage and he announced he was entering the qualifier for the Casino Gauntlet, saying that he and Billy Gunn will have a new strategy so he can enter at #2 and have a better chance of winning to secure a title shot.

AEW TNT Champion Adam Cole defends against Josh Alexander (w/ Trent Beretta)

Adam Cole and Josh Alexander had a great match that would have been ever better with more time. I’d like to see them do this match again down the line.

Alexander seemed to have the advantage over Cole several times throughout this match, hitting hard chops and a crossbody while Cole was on the apron, sending him to the floor. As they came back from an ad break, they showed Alexander charging at Cole in the corner, and Cole hit a superkick out of the corner, and a few pump kicks before hitting an Ushigoroshi. Cole blocked a brainbuster and hit a back stabber for a 2-count.

Cole signaled for the Panama Sunrise, but Alexander caught him and hit a flapjack before going back to an ankle lock. Cole escaped, but Alexander hit a forward rolling fireman’s carry and a knee off the middle ropes for a 2-count on Cole. Cole and Alexander battled on the ropes for a bit before Cole shoved him off and hit a Panama Sunrise for a 2-count. Cole went for the Boom, but Alexander fell to the mat, baited Cole in, and locked on the ankle lock again.

Cole escaped with a series of upkicks, but ate a big boot from him and then a German suplex but he was unable to bridge due to Cole working on the neck. Alexander blocked a superkick, hit a forearm, and picked Cole up for the C4 Spike. Cole flipped onto his feet as Alexander picked him up, hit a superkick, and then the Boom for the pinfall victory. This was a good match.

Match Result: AEW TNT Champion Adam Cole defeated Josh Alexander to retain

–Ricochet was confronted by AR Fox backstage for abandoning him in their tag match on Dynamite, but The Gates of Agony attacked and laid out Fox, leaving Ricochet impressed, asking to talk with them more.

–A hype video aired for Alex Windsor, announcing her signing with AEW.

Queen Aminata vs. Skye Blue (w/ Julia Hart)

This match was a little rough at the start, but the crowd got into it when Skye Blue dodged a beheading dropkick from Aminata and hit a twist and should off the apron to the floor before they went to break. When they came back, Aminata hit a big boot the head of Blue in the corner. Aminata went for a fisherman’s neckbreaker, but Blue fought out, hit a knee, and then a TKO for a 2-count. Aminata hit a big headbutt and a kick that sent Blue to the floor.

Blue hid behind Julia Hart, allowing her to pop out and pull Aminata into the ring steps. Blue went to the top rope and hit flying knees to Aminata. Blue looked a bit hesitant, and Aminata couldn’t catch her on that, so both hit the floor and it is a miracle that neither got hurt there. Aminata didn’t catch Blue, and Blue didn’t stretch out, instead jumping vertically, leaving very little room to be caught. Aminata hit the decapitating dropkick in the ropes and got the win.

Match Result: Queen Aminata defeated Skye Blue

–Thekla ran down to the ring as Julia Hart and Aminata faced off, and Hart, Thekla, and Blue beat on Aminata, forming an alliance of some sort. Anna Jay and Tay Melo ran down to make the save, and as they chased the heels off, Penelope Ford and Megan Bayne came out to the ramp, as Nigel McGuinness pointed out that all 8 women might be in the Women’s Casino Gauntlet at All In.

–Daniel Garcia & Matt Menard were backstage asking about Garcia’s problems with the Don Callis Family. Rocky Romero walked up saying that the family had no problems with Garcia, and that the offer of joining Callis’ family was still on the table. Romero said that Garcia didn’t know what a real friend looked like, and that he shouldn’t trust Cole, and if he wanted a real family, he knew where to find them.

Kyle Fletcher vs. Kyle O’Reilly

Fletcher and O’Reilly immediately started with some high quality mat wrestling, as the fans amusingly chanted “Kyle!” for both men. This was followed with “This is Kyle!” I love wrestling audiences. Fletcher claimed credit for the chants, which caused the fans to boo him, and as fans chanted “Kyle’s Awesome” and “Kyle Sucks!” it actually worked well as a clever dueling chant.

As they came back from ad break, the fans were chanting “We want Kyle!” Well, you have two of them, fans! Fletcher slammed O’Reilly in the ring, maintaining wrist control, but O’Reilly pulled himself up and hit some forearms. Fletcher went for another slam, but O’Reilly turned it into a triangle choke that Fletcher powered out of.

O’Reilly and Fletcher exchanged kicks and knees and both men went down. This match has been great, and the fans have been red hot for it, which is both a testament to their commitment to have fun chanting about Kyle, while also enjoying the work of both wrestlers. O’Reilly went for a guillotine choke, but Fletcher pulled O’Reilly up, who floated over, clipped the knee, then locked on an armbar as the fans chanted “We Kyle people!” ala the Hurt Syndicate. O’Reilly hit a dragon screw on Fletcher as the fans chanted “He’s our Kyle!” like the “He’s our scumbag!” chant for MJF.

O’Reilly hit a flying knee drop onto the knee of Fletcher and went for a heel hook, leading to Fletcher screaming in pain and grabbing for the ropes. O’Reilly missed a flying knee strike and Fletcher hit a superkick and a running big boot on the floor, but O’Reilly pulled Fletcher’s arm into a chair as Fletcher grabbed for him. The fans chanted “You sick Kyle!” as O’Reilly hit a flying dropkick off the apron on Fletcher.

Lance Archer ran down and laid O’Reilly out on the ground as Fletcher distracted the referee. O’Reilly kicked out of a Michinoku Driver, but finally fell to a brainbuster from Fletcher to end a fantastic match. As Archer and Fletcher attacked and beat down O’Reilly after the match, Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, and Daniel Garcia ran down to make the save and they posed together as Fletcher yelled that the TNT Championship was his.

Match Result: Kyle Fletcher defeated Kyle O’Reilly

Final Thoughts

This was a decent episode of Collision with a fantastic main event. I loved the video packages and announcing of a few big matches for Dynamite on Wednesday, and even one match for Collision. AEW has been hit or miss in announcing matches for the next show the last few years, but always benefit when they do announce at least one big match. I do miss the days of having the full card in advance like the early Dynamites though.

AEW Dynamite: Episode 300

  • TBS Championship: Mercedes Mone (c) vs. Mina Shirakawa
  • Kota Ibushi vs. Kazuchika Okada
  • Casino Gauntlet #2 Spot Qualifier: Brody King vs. MJF vs. Anthony Bowens vs. AR Fox

AEW Collision: Episode 100

  • FTR vs. The Outrunners

AEW Collision live results: All star eight-woman tag team match

For the first time in three weeks, AEW Collision returns for a live episode from Kent, Washington, headlined by an all star eight-woman tag team match.

On one side, ROH Women’s World Champion Athena teams with Thekla, Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford to take on former AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa, Queen Aminata, Tay Conti and Anna Jay.

AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm will be on hand to share thoughts ahead of her All In Texas defense against Mercedes Mone.

AEW World Champion Jon Moxley will take on AR Fox in non-title action while former champion Swerve Strickland takes on Shane Taylor.

**********

Hey folks, internet issues prevented me from starting the show right on time! Sorry about that!

Collision opened with Stokley Hathaway cutting a promo about the 8-man tag match against Paragon, Daniel Garcia, and Bandido following AEW’s successful debut in Arena Mexico. This week, they come live from Seattle.

The Death Riders made their entrance, with Moxley entering the arena ready for his match against AR Fox.

AEW World Champion Jon Moxley (w/ Wheeler Yuta) defeated AR Fox in a non-title match

Fox was very over in this match, with the fans chanting loudly for him as he went right after Moxley. However, as Fox launched off the top ropes, Moxley countered with a huge forearm that dropped Fox and it was quickly turned around where the AEW World Champion was beating on the local favourite.

Moxley’s heat was incredible in this match. Fox hit a DDT as Moxley got caught in the ropes, and flipped over the top rope into a stomp on Moxley’s chest before hitting a triangle moonsault to the floor. Moxley cut Fox off and locked in a choke while Fox was on the top rope, before suplexing Fox down and locking on a submission while crucifixing the arms of Fox.

Fox escaped to the ropes, hit an enziguri, and a tope sucidica to the floor on Moxley. Fox hit a pump kick on Yuta on the floor and a cutter on Moxley in the ring, followed by another pump kick and cutter. Fox celebrated, and Moxley immediately took advantage, hitting a lariat on Fox, a Gotch Style Piledriver, mounted elbows, and a rear naked choke until Fox went out. Great finish.

–After the match, Moxley hit a Death Rider and called for the microphone from Yuta. Moxley talked about how he was not as patient with Hangman as the the AEW audience was, as Hangman wasted all his opportunities and that All In would be no different. Excellent promo.

–AEW aired a great recap of the Dynamite at Arena Mexico. This hype package ruled, including highlights from Hangman’s awesome opening promo, Mercedes’ title win, and Hangman Page saving Swerve Strickland.

–Adam Cole, Daniel Garcia, Roderick Strong, and Bandio cut a promo about their upcoming 8-man tag.

Protoshita (Kyle Fletcher & Konosuke Takeshita) & FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) (w/ Stokley Hathaway) defeated Paragon (Adam Cole & Roderick Strong), Daniel Garcia, & Bandido

This match served as the weekly Collision party match, and I’m glad it did. It is hard to have a bad match with these 8 tremendous wrestlers, and this was no exception to that rule. Harwood immediately attacked Bandido, but had to cope with Bandido quickly turning it around and tagging out to Strong. Harwood managed to drop Strong with a hard forearm and tagged out to Takeshita, who mocked the babyfaces as he beat on Strong.

Garcia made a brief comeback, but ate a kick from Fletcher that sent him to the mat, allowing Harwood to work him over for the next few minutes. Bandido tagged in and hit Harwood with several lariats before hitting a kick on Takeshita and an incredible tornado DDT on Fletcher. The match eventually broke down into everyone hitting big moves, ending with Cole and Fletcher exchanging strikes with Cole hitting a brainbuster onto his own knee. All 8 men started brawling, with Cole saving Strong from a Shatter Machine and Bandido hitting a moonsault to the floor. Strong, however, turned into a superkick from Fletcher and ate the Shatter Machine for the win for FTR and the Don Callis Family.

–The heels were beating down the babyfaces and The Outrunners, with hometown hero Truth Magnum, made the save. Wheeler was calling for help from someone, but they never arrived. The announcers highlighted that Harwood was shocked that the Outrunners took Bandido’s side, rather than theirs, highlighting the brief on screen friendship we saw with the Outrunners and FTR.

–Tay Melo, Anna Jay, Thunder Rosa, and Queen Aminata talked about their upcoming main event tag match against Athena, Thekla, Penelope Ford, and Megan Bayne. They cut to the other team, and Athena talked about how it was Athena Elite Wrestling tonight, and how she didn’t like Ford or Bayne, which Bayne took exception to.

–Mercedes Mone was interviewed by Renee Paquette in Mexico on Wednesday, and she talked about how Toni Storm’s time was up.

Swerve Strickland (w/ Prince Nana) defeated Shane Taylor (w/ Shane Taylor Promotions)

Early on, the Infantry seemed to be arguing with Taylor on the floor, betting money on the match among themselves and with Prince Nana, which confused the announcers. Swerve kicked Taylor right in the face to the delight of the crowd, and Taylor responded with hard forearms. The Infantry convinced Tony Schiavone to come over and bet on the match too, which was super entertaining.

Taylor hit a splash crushing Swerve against the apron. Schiavone came back to the desk and claimed he put his money on Swerve, while Nana and the Infantry continued to cheer on their subsequent betting partners. When the came back from the ad break, Taylor crashed into the corner, missing a corner charge. Swerve hit a dropkick to the knee of Taylor and then a running knee for a two count. At this point, the fans started chanting very loudly for local indie promotion Defy (which I highly recommend checking out, as their shows are always awesome).

Swerve locked on an armbar of sorts on Taylor, who fought out using his strength, hitting a big standing knee on Swerve. Swerve managed to stun Taylor on the top rope, and hit a massive Olympic slam on Taylor off the ropes. Swerve hit a Swerve stomp off the top rope onto the apron, and Prince Nana stole the cash from the betting, leading to money flying everywhere as Swerve hit a dive onto the Infantry and a House Call on Taylor for the win. This was tremendous.

–A recap of Toni Storm attacking Mercedes Mone aired.

–Toni Storm was on the stage dressed as Carmen Sandiego, and cut a promo about Mercedes Mone, talking about how Mone said that they were going to have the biggest match of all time, but Storm was disappointed in her. Storm asked if the AEW Women’s World Championship was just another trophy for her, and that she was not just some other opponent (cussing in the process), and that Mone better not take her lightly, because she was going to eat Mercedes Mone alive if she makes one mistake.

Storm said she wanted Mone’s best, because she is the best. The first woman to ever wrestle at Madison Square Garden, Wembley, the Tokyo Dome, and Arena Mexico, and Storm said she was the greatest of all time. Storm said that she wasn’t that, but that she was the one that made magic happen when she held the world title, and that Mercedes Mone would have to kill her to take her title. This promo was incredible.

The Conglomeration (Mark Briscoe, Hologram, & Willow Nightingale) vs. MxM Collection (Mansoor & Mason Madden) & Taya Valkyrie (w/ Johnny TV)

This was a fun back and forth match that saw Hologram and Briscoe trying to over come the size of Madden and Mansoor. In a ridiculous spot, Mansoor hit a catapult into the posterior for Madden, but their advantage did not last long, with Mark Briscoe firing up for the comeback taking on both men to a roar from the crowd.

Briscoe hit a palm strike that sent Mansoor flying backwards to the floor, and Briscoe hit a running dropkick on Madden, but was double teamed by Johnny TV and Mansoor, leading to Hologram coming in and clearing the ring, but Taya Valkyrie hitting a hurricanrana on Hologram, leading to Willow Nightingale hitting a spear on Mansoor before Hologram hit a portal bomb on Mansoor. Briscoe and Hologram hit tope sucidias to the floor and Briscoe hit the Froggy-bow on Mansoor for the win. Really fun match.

–Kris Statlander was backstage with Lexy Nair, and she was fed up with people asking her about Willow Nightingale. Wheeler Yuta walked up to talk her, and she shoved Yuta away, but turned right around into Jon Moxley. She dropped her phone, and Moxley slowly picked it up, and said, “Don’t let anyone tell you who you are and what you are worth” before handing the phone back to her and walking away. This was very interesting.

–The Don Callis family came down to the ring with Josh Alexander and Lance Archer accompanying him. Callis announced the newest member of the Don Callis Family, officially now, Kazuchika Okada. Callis grabbed the mic back from Schiavone again, interrupting him, and the fans booed Callis out of the building as they re-aired the attack on Kenny Omega. Callis said he was tired of Schiavone talking trash about him, but he wasn’t here about that, and wanted to talk about Kenny Omega, asking how Omega felt to have his greatest opponent, Okada, and the man that knew all his weaknesses, Callis, was now a unit.

Callis said that even if Omega made it to All In, he has no friends left. Mark Briscoe came out and told Callis to shut up, claiming he was Omega’s friend. Briscoe said he wasn’t his only friend either, and out came Kota Ibushi, returning to AEW looking like he was in incredible shape. Briscoe and Archer started brawling, and Ibushi slowly walked down to the ring, and he laid Alexander out with a massive kick only to turn around and face one of his biggest rivals, Kazauchika Okada.

Ibushi and Okada have unfinished business from the G1 Finals years ago when Ibushi was injured and unable to finish the match, and it seems that the old feud is reigniting again. This was a huge angle, and it was tremendous.

–The Workhorsemen and Learning Tree were brawling when they came back from break, with both teams not having a match, but a massive fight that started backstage. Big Bill hit a massive chokeslam into a set of four chairs that were setup. As Bill grabbed a mic, Christian Cage and the Patriarchy came out. Christian said that the only good things to come out of Washington State were Nick Wayne and the Matriarch.

Christian claimed that the brawl was cutting into his mic time, and he had a huge announcement to make. Christian said that it was time that he and Nick Wayne became a tag team, becoming the first ever father & son tag team. Big Bill said a rather crass comment about Mother Wayne, and offered to fight Christian Cage & Nick Wayne tonight. Cage claimed to be the man that ran Collision and he only fights on his own terms.

–Last week, Anthony Bowens was with Billy Gunn after his loss. Bowens said that the two of them needed to get their act together, and Gunn was supposed to help him. He said he didn’t want to end up like Max Caster. It seems like we might see Bowens moving towards a heel turn and division with Billy Gunn.

Jetspeed (Kevin Knight & Mike Bailey) defeated The Gates of Agony (Toa Liona & Bishop Kaun)

I really like Toa Liona, and would love to see more of him. I have said this several times, but I’d love to see AEW do something with him. Ricochet was on commentary, saying that his crew was not going to be the Cru, as they ruined the chances of them being a part of his group. Liona spent the early portions of the match beating on Mike Bailey, saying his face was perfect for punching. Knight tried to armdrag Liona, but Liona blocked it. Knight sent Liona to the floor, but ate knees to his chest as Kaun put his knees up when Knight went for a splash.

Bailey went for a tope to the floor, and Liona hit a pounce on Bailey before he hit the floor, sending him flying. Liona walked up to the applauding Ricochet and put his arm around him as Ricochet showed his approval. The Gates of Agony hit a double team powerbomb on Knight for a 2-count, and it is clear that these two huge men are getting over in this match.

The Gates of Agony continued to beat on Knight for the next few minutes, coming back from break as Knight managed to hit a lariat off the middle rope on Kaun. Bailey made the hot tag, dodging a corner charge from Liona that saw Liona fly over the ropes, hitting the ring post as he crumbled to the floor. Liona, however, like a monster, came back in and hit a a fallaway slam on Knight while hitting Bailey with a Samoan drop.

Liona smashed Knight with a headbutt but as they went for Open the Gates, Knight hit a DDT on both men, but Liona just stood up again, and ate a double dropkick from Jetspeed. Jetspeed hit stereo tope con giro’s to the floor. Kaun and Bailey went back into the ring, and Kaun hit a gorilla press into a lung blower on Bailey. Bailey hit a spinning heel kick and triangle moonsasult to the floor on Liona while Knight hit a frog splash onto Kaun. This match was awesome. I would have had the Gates of Agony go over with Ricochet’s help, but this was not a bad result by any stretch.

Athena (w/ Billie Starkz), Thekla, Penelope Ford, & Megan Bayne defeated Tay Melo, Anna Jay, Queen Aminata, & Thunder Rosa

Athena came across as the biggest star in this match, by far, and she exchanged some very hard strikes with Aminata. Anna Jay came in and soon all women were setting up for a joint suplex, and all 8 women fought over a suplex, with the babyfaces and heels unable to complete the move. They broke off from each other and Athena and Megan Bayne both hit a double Samoan drop and fall away slam at same time on their opponents. Bayne and Athena stood face to face, as Thekla and Aminata resumed their match from last week.

Thekla was so fast in this match, with almost no one being able to keep up with her. Animata hit a huge headbutt, but Athena reached through the ropes to break the count. Tay Melo and Ford tagged in and resumed their violent feud from a few years ago, with Melo hitting a DDT on Ford. Bayne broke it up and hit a double German suplex on Jay and Melo at the same time.

Melo popped up and hit a knee strike on Bayne and tagged out to Rosa, while Athena came in and started exchanging chops with her. Athena hit a sole butt and then a series of kicks ending in an enziguri. Rosa hit a dropkick bouncing off the ropes. Rosa hit a stiff dropkick to Athena who was laying on the bottom rope. Melo hit a Gotch style piledriver on Ford, while Bayne hit a spear on Melo. Jay dropped Bayne with a DDT, and Thekla hit a spear on Jay. Animata hit a twist and shout on Thekla, and Athena hit a tombstone on Aminata. Rosa hit a Death Valley Driver on Athena, but Red Velvet ran out and tossed the ROH Women’s title to Athena, who leveled Rosa and pinned her for the win.

Final Thoughts

This was an awesome episode of AEW Collision, with some big angles, great promos, and great wrestling. As the show closed, Tony Schiavone announced that there would be a Casino Gauntlet match at All In, and that Kota Ibushi would be on Dynamite. Really great show, though some more matches announced for Wednesday would have been great.

**********

FTR and Stokley Hathaway joined Tony Schiavone in the ring for a contract signing to face Daniel Garcia and Nigel McGuinness. Adam Cole, on commentary, put over Garcia strongly, calling him the future of the company. The crowd gave McGuinness a great reaction for his entrance. Cash Wheeler took the mic and said he was giving them one more chance to reconsider facing FTR. This got a ton of heat.

Garcia noted that he had trouble hearing FTR because the crowd was booing them so loudly. Garcia said he was standing up, not just for himself, but for Tony Schiavone, Adam Copeland, and everyone that FTR has targeted. Garcia said that it was going to be a fight, and that McGuinness, even with his own doubts, still has it. Nigel McGuinness said he would find out on Sunday, but he made sure that once this match was over, FTR would never touch him or Tony Schiavone for good.

Dax Harwood took the mic and said that he wanted McGuinness to look him in the eye as he signed the contract, because if he signed the contract, FTR were going to end his career and it was his blood on his own hands. Harwood said that McGuinness could walk to the commentary desk where he belonged, and they could be friends instead. Harwood provoked McGuinness and they jumped FTR and locked on submissions before security pulled FTR out of the ring. McGuinness signed the contract promising that he was going to end this fight.

–Tony Storm cut a pretaped promo about Mina Shirakawa, asking Shirakawa to bring her best at AEW Double or Nothing

The Don Callis Family (Konosuke Takeshita & Roppongi Vice (Rocky Romero & Trent Beretta) (w/ Don Callis & Lance Archer) defeated Los Outrunners (Turbo Floyd, Truth Magnum, & Bandido)

Bandido & Trent Beretta started the match. Bandido caught Beretta in midair and hit a tilt-a-whirl slam and then a stalling vertical suplex on Beretta. Floyd and Magnum came in and hit vertical suplexes on Takeshita & Romero or stereo suplexes with all three men. Bandido hit a tope con giro on everyone on the floor.

Takeshita nailed Magnum with a forearm and the Don Callis Family started getting the heat on the babyfaces for the next few minutes. As they came back from the ad-break, Magnum made a hot tag to Bandido, who ran wild, dropping Beretta and Romero. Bandido and Takeshita exchanged strikes, but Takeshita hit one big forearm to drop him. Bandido hit a kick out of the corner and hit a torneo on Takeshita.

Takeshita blocked a GTH and hit a Blue Thunder Bomb for a 2-count. The Outrunners were hit with jumping knee strikes from RPG Vice, but Bandido sent Romero to the floor, hit a GTH on Romero, but took a German suplex from Takeshita. Turbo Floyd came in for a hot tag, and hit three scoop slams before slamming his own partner on Takeshita to a huge reaction from the crowd. Bandido hit a pop-up cutter on Beretta, but Romero cut off a Total Recall from The Outrunners, and Lance Archer attacked Bandido on the floor, wiping him out. Takeshita and Beretta grabbed The Outrunners and hit Strong Zero on both of them for the win.

–A hype video aired for Gabe Kidd, where Moxley explained Kidd was the hired gun for them, and that they were going to paint a blood covered picture of what wrestling could be on Sunday.

TBS Champion Mercedes Moné defeated Reyna Isis to retain

Both women exchanged quick pinfall attempts to open the match. Moné hit a headscissors takedown into the Statement Maker, but Isis got out. Moné ended up eating a legdrop from the middle rope from Isis for a 2-count. Isis hit a butterfly suplex for another near fall. Moné hit another headscissors, but Isis got her knees up once Moné went off the middle ropes. Moné hit a backstabber for a 2-count. There was a miscommunication at one point before the end, but Moné was able to roll through it into a Statement Maker for the submission win.

–Jamie Hayter came down to the ringside area and looked to be ready to get in a fight with Moné, but security ran down and got between both women as they eyed the Owen Hart Cup trophy.

–A video aired of the Sons of Texas explaining their desire to win the AEW World Tag Team Championship because they were day one wrestlers in AEW.

Kyle Fletcher (w/ Don Callis) defeated Jay Lethal

Fletcher attacked Lethal viciously right away, but Lethal managed to force Fletcher to the floor and hit a tope suicida on Fletcher. Don Callis, on commentary was very concerned about Adam Cole’s health after the Lethal dive. Fletcher got in the face of Cole on the floor, but Lethal sent him back to the ring. Lethal fist bumped Cole, but Lethal was cut off and brutally powerbombed onto the apron before getting back in Adam Cole’s face.

It seems they are setting up Fletcher vs. Cole for the TNT Championship. Fletcher kept control over Lethal for the next few minutes, maintaining wrist control as he slammed Lethal. Lethal tried to come back with chops, while Fletcher begged him to take a free shot. Lethal decided to punch him instead and got a few near falls. The crowd was very into this match, as Lethal went for the figure four, but Fletcher blocked it. Lethal hit a dragon screw instead, and locked on the figure four soon thereafter.

Lethal went for a top rope elbow drop, but Fletcher cut him off and went for a superplex or a turnbuckle brainbuster, but Lethal countered the counter, and jumped off with a top rope elbow. Fletcher countered the counter of the counter with knees to Lethal’s elbow before hitting the brainbuster for the pinfall. That was a lot of counters. Really good match.

–The Don Callis family rushed the ring to attack afterwards, with Takeshita, Fletcher, and Josh Alexander attacking, but Paragon ran down to make the save as Adam Cole left the announcer’s desk to join them.

Paragon (Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly) defeated The Grizzled Young Veterans (James Drake & Zack Gibson)

This match had a super fast start with GYV taking it to Paragon early on, dominating them for the first few minutes with fast paced offence that the crowd appreciated. Gibson slowed it down with a chin lock on O’Reilly. O’Reilly did an up kick on Drake and tagged out to Strong, who ran wild, hitting suplexes and back breakers.

Strong hit a front suplex on Drake but Gibson made the save to break the pin. Gibson hit a lung blower in the corner, leaving Strong draped on the middle ropes and Gibson’s knees. Drake hit a coast-to-coast dropkick to the ribs of strong, but O’Reilly made the save. All four men brawled afterwards. All four men broke off, and Strong and O’Reilly hit the high-low on Drake while O’Reilly then locked on a guillotine choke on Gibson as Strong pinned Drake. Great tag match. Cole issued a challenge to the Don Callis family for Double or Nothing.

–A recap of the street fight with Gates of Agony and the Learning Tree aired.

Josh Alexander (w/ Don Callis) defeated AR Fox

Don Callis rejoined commentary was not happy about Cole challenging the Don Callis family, but accepted the challenge, with Paragon facing Takeshita, Alexander, and Fletcher. Fox hit a moonsault off the apron onto Alexander as this announcement was being made. Alexander responded with a suplex.

AR Fox hit a tope con giro to the floor to the chagrin of Don Callis, but Fox did land awkwardly, and was selling his leg slightly. Fox went for a cutter, but Alexander caught him and dead lifted him into a German suplex, hit a powerbomb, and then hit the C4 Spike for the win.

Callis, before leaving the desk, let Cole have a piece of his mind, saying that he could have been in the Don Callis Family if he wanted to, but now Alexander was going to stretch him.

–A video aired with fans predicting who was going to win between Hangman and Ospreay.

Mistico, Templario, & Mascara Dorada defeated Los Depredadores (Volador Jr., Magnus, & Rugido)

A CMLL lucha match on Collision? I’m in. This will be fun. I am not familiar with everyone in this match, only knowing Mistico, Dorada, and Volador Jr, so parts of this was a bit hard for me to keep track of when Depredadores was in the ring. That said, Dorada immediately impressed the fans, sending the rudo team to the floor.

The crowd was very into this, especially once Mistico tagged in and faced off with Volador. Mistico hit a handspring into a back elbow, but got caught with a dropkick when going for the elbow. Depredadores stomped on Mistico, ending with Volador hitting a superkick on Mistico. Magnus hit a hard chop on Templario, and Volador hit another superkick, this time on Templario. Rugido hit a basement dropkick on Dorada, leaving him for Volador to beat down.

Rugido was getting heat on Mistico as they came back from break, but Mistico hit a double armdrag on Magnus and Rugido, letting the tecnicos hit stereo tope suicidas. Mistico hit a crossbody on Magnus, hit a head scissors on Rugido, and then Volador before Templario hit a Sasuke Special.

Mascara Dorada came in and hit a poisonrana on Magnus before hitting a picture perfect shooting star press for the pinfall. This was a ton of fun.

–A recap video aired for Anna Jay & Harley Cameron vs. Penelope Ford & Megan Bayne, officially announcing it for the AEW Double or Nothing Buy In.

–Kris Statlander was backstage, saying that while she was sorry for the things she did to Willow Nightingale, Willow needed to be careful because Statlander was dangerous and Willow might not like it when Statlander was pushed and angry.

Mike Bailey & Komander (w/ Alex Abrahantes) defeated Rush & Dralistico

Dralistico ran in from the audience while Bailey and Komander were distracted, letting Rush and Dralistico beat on the babyfaces as the match started. Tony Schiavone, ever the professional, plugged their sponsor, an energy drink, as they hit Komander with it. The announcers were speculating that Okada bribed Rush and Dralistico to beat on Bailey last week and to damage him this week in their tag match.

Bailey managed to use some martial arts to turn the beating around, tagging out to Komander who hit a double dropkick on both Rush and Dralistico. Komander and Bailey both hit tope suicidas, then got in the ring, ran to their opposite side and hit it on the other opponent. They went for a third, but Rush and Dralistico walked out of the way, sending the babyfaces crashing to the floor.

Dralistico put Komander in the tree of woe, kicking him in the face. The heels worked over Komander for the next few minutes, tugging at the mask, and kicking him in the face. Rush spit at Bailey, which caused Bailey to try and get in the ring, which allowed Rush and Dralistico to double team him. Komander ran up the ropes and backflipped out of the way of an attack, hit a spike hurricanrana on Dralistico, and tagged out to Bailey who hit a series of kicks on Dralistico, continuing where they left off in their last match.

Bailey hit a standing shooting star press for a 2-count on Dralistico. Bailey and Rush exchanged forearms in the middle of the ring, to the delight of the crowd before changing to chops. Rush ended the exchange with a discus forearm before going for the Bull’s Horns, but just kicked Bailey in the face instead of hitting the dropkick. Bailey hit a thrust kick on Dralistico followed by a triangle moonsault before Komamder ran across the ropes from one side to the other and hitting a dive.

Bailey and Komander hit perfectly timed stereo shooting star presses from opposite corners for a 2-count. Komander hit a Canadian Destroyer on Dralistico. Rush ran in and hit a German suplex and knee strike on Bailey. Rush missed a charge and hit the ring steps, which distracted Dralistico long enough to hit a poisonrana followed by a spinning heel kick from Bailey and a shooting star press from Komander for the win. That was awesome.

–Kazuchika Okada made his entrance to come face to face with Bailey, looking disappointed that Bailey was not injured by Rush and Dralistico. Bailey bowed to Okada, showing respect, but Okada flipped him off. Bailey hit a spin kick to the hand of Okada, followed by a spinning heel kick on Okada that dropped him to the floor. Bailey hit a tope con giro on Okada, who caught Bailey perfectly, and Bailey grabbed the title and posed with it.

Final Thoughts

There was nothing unpredictable on this show, but all the matches were excellent. The recap videos were helpful for reminding people of the stories being told, and the main event was a fantastic match, so this was a win for AEW.

AEW Collision live results: Tag Team title eliminator, Ric Flair honors ‘Mongo’ McMichael

Tonight’s Beach Break edition of AEW Collision will feature some implications for the upcoming Double or Nothing in addition to Ric Flair honoring his late friend, Steve “Mongo” McMichael.

The WWE Hall of Famer will be on hand in Chicago to pay tribute to the former WCW announcer, wrestler and Pro Football Hall of Fame member after his recent passing.

ROH Tag Team Champions Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara will take on CRU’s Lio Rush & Action Andretti with the winners challenging AEW World Tag Team Champions The Hurt Syndicate at Double or Nothing.

The Don Callis Family will be represented as Kyle Fletcher takes on AR Fox while Rocky Romero, Trent & Lance Archer battle Brody King, Tomohiro Ishii & ROH World Champion Bandido.

Big Bill & Bryan Keith will challenge the Gates of Agony in a street fight.

Megan Bayne will take on Anna Jay, “Speedball” Mike Bailey faces Blake Christian, and Powerhouse Hobbs goes one-on-one with Wheeler Yuta to round out the show.

**********

Live Coverage of the show will begin at 9 PM ET due to Triller delaying the airing until then.

Megan Bayne (w/ Penelope Ford) defeated Anna Jay (w/ Harley Cameron)

Bayne drove Jay back into the corner, attacking with shoulder blocks and a chop. Jay got distracted by Ford on the floor and Bayne hit a kick that caused her to fall to ringside. Bayne hit a back suplex on the apron on Jay while blowing a kiss to the camera and waving. Bayne hit a belly to belly suplex out of a bear hug, which was impressive. Bayne missed a senton on the apron and her and Jay exchanged strikes until Jay hit a back stabber. Jay low bridged Bayne, forcing her to fall to the floor, and followed with a crossbody off the apron onto both Ford and Bayne.

Jay hit a blockbuster off the middle rope, but Bayne responded by holding onto Jay as she hit the neckbreaker and rolled into a falcon arrow on Jay. Jay countered Fate’s Descent with DDT and tried to lock on a sleeper, but Bayne fought out. Ford pulled a turnbuckle pad off, but Harley Cameron pulled Ford out of the ring and they brawled to the back. Jay hit a drop toe hold into the exposed buckle on Bayne, but Bayne kicked out of the school boy roll up. Jay locked on the sleeper again, but Bayne drove Jay into the exposed buckle back first, and then powered Jay up into Fate’s Descent. This was fine, but the crowd was pretty dead for the match. A lot of the women are struggling with taking Fate’s Descent (the F5), so this looked a little rough. Jay is way better than she was even just a year ago, and Bayne is very good, and this match was better than the crowd reaction would dictate.

Kyle Fletcher (w/ Don Callis) defeated AR Fox

Fletcher rushed Fox to start the match, hitting a Yakuza kick in the corner. Fox hit a jumping kick on Fletcher and ran up the ropes and did a bunch of springs into a wheelbarrow bulldog on Fletcher. Fletcher ran back into the ring before Fox could dive and hit a pop-up eye of the storm, which was a cool twist on the old James Storm move. The graphics AEW showed throughout this match were glitched on screen, and I’m not sure if this was a Triller issue or something with the file they sent to Triller to air. Regardless, it was a bit distracting.

While TNT was on break Callis commented that his desire for the Hangman Page vs. Will Ospreay match was that they both get injured and Fletcher comes in and wins it. Fox hit a school boy into a cutter, which was really cool. Fletcher fought off a piledriver and hit a half nelson suplex. Fox tripped Fletcher on the apron and hit a stomp to him while rolling over the ropes, and then hitting a tope con giro to the floor. That was really cool. Fox missed a 450 splash and Fletcher picked him up and hit a Michinoku driver for a two count. Fletcher hit another Yakuza kick, but Fox hit a cradle for a 2-count. Fox dodged a kick to a great reaction from the crowd, but Fletcher took control again, hitting the kick he just missed, and hit a vertical drop brainbuster for the win. The crowd was getting into this one by the end, and Fletcher did take most of the match. Good match.

–A short recap video aired for Hangman Adam Page and Will Ospreay. Good way to drive the story home.

Brody King, Tomohiro Ishii, & Bandido defeated Lance Archer & Roppongi Vice (Trent Beretta & Rocky Romero) (w/ Don Callis)

Ishii immediately went after Romero, angry that he betrayed CHAOS, but Beretta pulled Romero from the ring, allowing Lance Archer and Brody King battle to the delight of the crowd. Both big men hit hard strikes, but King hit a big boot and a tope suicidia to the floor on Archer. Great start to this match. King tried to hit a running attack on Archer on the floor but Beretta cut him off with a busaiku knee on King. Archer hit a chokeslam on King onto the apron and it broke down into a ringside brawl between everyone.

The graphics continued to be washed out like someone used the fill function in photoshop to paint them all white while they advertised several matches before going to break. Romero and Beretta almost hit Strong Zero, but Bandido superkicked Beretta to break it. Brody King and Ishii helped launch a running shotgun dropkick on Rocky Romero, which almost went through Romero at the speed he hit, and King hit a cannonball in the corner for the win.

–Lance Archer attacked King after the match and the Don Callis family started beating on the babyfaces, but the Outrunners ran down to make the save and cleared the ring. The Outrunners, sadly, got very little reaction.

–We saw the Paragon talking to Lexy Nair while the Grizzled Young Veterans walked up to them, and I am having déjà vu as this angle was almost exactly the same as last week, except this time, we now have a date for their match – next week on Collision.

Mike Bailey defeated Blake Christian (w/ Lee Johnson)

As one would expect with these two, it did not start slow, with Blake Christian hitting a lowpe on Bailey, followed by a 450 double stomp on Bailey. That had to suck. Christian and Bailey exchanged kicks in the middle of the ring until Christian went for a springboard until Baily hit a superkick on the incoming Christian that dropped him. Christian and Bailey exchanged chops in the middle of the ring, ending with Bailey firing up and demanding Christian chop him. Christian stomped his foot instead, but Bailey hit a crane kick and a triangle moonsault to the floor on Christian.

Lee Johnson distracted Bailey on the floor, allowing Christian to hit his fosbury flop through the middle rope. However, this did not last long, and Bailey hit a top rope hurricanrana and a spinning heel kick for the win. This was very fast, both in time, and actual moves done in such a short period of time.

–Mike Bailey grabbed a mic and challenged Kazuchika Okada to come out and fight him. Okada’s music hit and he made his way to the ramp. As Okada was talking, Rush and Dralistico came in from the crowd and laid Bailey out. Rush eyed Okada, and Okada feigned great sadness at Bailey getting beat down. It seems we’re heading for a multi-man match for Double or Nothing.

–A short recap video aired for The Gates of Agony vs. The Learning Tree for their street fight that is coming up next.

–A post match promo from Dynamite with Jon Moxley aired, as he was still covered in blood, as he said that no one will ever make him flinch, and that Gabe Kidd worked for him now. Kidd ended the promo with the words, “Abandon all hope.” Truly awesome promo from Moxley here. One of the best he has done in awhile.

The Learning Tree (Big Bill & Bryan Keith) defeated The Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona)

As expected, this was a wild brawl. Keith was driven through a table in the corner by Kaun hitting a spear. Toa Liona Big Bill went into the middle of the ring, and Liona broke a pool cue over his own head, tossed the other half to Bill, and then they started wailing on each other with the broke pieces of the pool cues. That was awesome. Eventually they got tired of doing that, dropped the broken cue, and started charging at each other repeatedly without falling.

Bishop Kaun started choking out Bill with a cut cable of sorts, and smashed him with a garbage can. Keith hit Liona with the broken pool cue and Liona smacked Keith with a garbage can lid. Kaun and Liona started getting over in this match with their violence against Bill and Keith. There is definitely something they could do with these two.

Liona and Kaun put a garbage can over Keith’s head and put him in a tree of woe, hitting dropkicks in the corner. Liona then hit a Banzai Drop on Keith but Bill ran in and laid him out to make the save. Bill grabbed a backpack from ringside that was filled with bricks, and a fan in the front row audibly yelled “Oh man! Bricks!” That was hilarious. Bill went to hit Kaun with the brick against the ringpost, and Kaun ducked and Bill broke the brick against the ring post with an awesome loud sound. Liona dumped Bill over the announce table, taking out some of the crew, as Nigel jumped into the front row to avoid getting hit.

Keith hit Liona with a garbage can lid but Liona no sold it and hit Keith before hitting a crossbody over the barricade, onto Keith, who was propped up on the barricade, and they destroyed the timekeeper’s area. Liona picked up Keith and attempted to put him through two tables at ringside, but Keith countered out of it. Big Bill ran in and hit a big boot that sent Liona crashing through the tables. Keith grabbed a piece of drywall and broke it over Kaun’s head, who just laughed about it. Keith hit a knee and Big Bill hit a chokeslam as the fans chanted “We want drywall!” a chant I never expected to hear. Bill pinned Kaun in this wild brawl that was tons of fun.

–A hype video aired for Mina Shirakawa and Toni Storm, with Shirakawa saying that her time was now, and she was going to take Toni Storm’s title.

–The tribute for Steve ‘Mongo’ McMichael was next, with his widow, Misty, and Dean Malenko there. Tony Schiavone ran down the story of Mongo’s football career and his start in wrestling, being on TNT on Monday Nitro as a commentator, and joining the Four Horsemen. Flair said a lot of very nice things about Mongo here, talking about the six year battle Mongo faced with ALS, and the fans started chanting Mongo’s name. Flair thanked all the fans as Schiavone announced AEW working with an ALS charity. This was really nice.

The Sons of Texas (Sammy Guevara & Dustin Rhodes) defeated Cru (Action Andretti & Lio Rush)

Nigel McGuinness said that he never saw a team look so sharp, referring to the points on Rush and Andretti’s jackets, and I laughed. I do love a good pun. However, them wearing actual spikes instead of stuffing filled ones on a jacket would have made it better. Andretti mocked Rhode’s old Goldust gimmick, and Rhodes quickly made him pay for that, then tagged out to Guevara who hit a standing moonsault. Guevara hit a dive onto Cru, and Guevara then asked Rhodes to do it, and the fans cheered him on. He hit the ropes, told them to suck it, then did a spinaroonine. Not sure what I expected, as it wasn’t that, but it was hilarious.

Rush worked over the bigger Rhodes while he was grounded, and it reminded me of how good Leo Rush actually is, as he was so smooth in everything he did, right down to clipping the knee of Rhodes, letting Andretti tag in and continue the heat. I liked how they did this, as they are significantly smaller than Rhodes, but were able to make it seem believable as they cut down the bigger man. Rhodes got the foot up on a corner charge, hit a classic Rhodes style powerslam on Rush, and tagged in Guevara for the hot tag. Guevara flew over the ropes onto Andretti, hit a crossbody into the ring on both, and hit Rush with a cutter.

Guevara hit a second cutter on Andretti for a 2-count. Guevara called for a top rope move, but missed a 450 splash. Andretti and Rush then hit a seamless series of moves. Rush taunted Guevara, and Cru both hit kicks and a suplex on Guevara for a 2-count as Rhodes broke it up. Rhodes hit a Canadian Destroyer on Rush, but Andretti hit a superkick on Rhodes and dropped him. Guevara flipped out of a burning hammer and hit a GTH on Andretti and pinned him before Rush could come in to make the save. The finish seemed a little weird, like Rush was late getting there, but regardless, The Sons of Texas will face the Hurt Syndicate at Double or Nothing. Good match, though we spent weeks watching Cru in the crowd for nothing, it seems.

–Willow Nightingale & Kris Statlander were arguing backstage, and both of them said “When you’re done with the Death Riders, you know where to find me,” with Willow insinuating that Statlander was joining them and Statlander was commenting on Willow’s ongoing feud with them.

–Tony Schiavone ran down a few of the matches we will see over the next week, including a stretcher match being added to Double or Nothing between Ricochet and Mark Briscoe. That seems a little out of nowhere for the stip, but not for the match, at least. I list the full announcements below the main event! Schiavone noted that we should see the promo that Ricochet did on social media. While I have no problem watching a promo on social media, the majority of fans that watch the show do not watch social media promos, so a clip of it would have been nice here.

Powerhouse Hobbs defeated Wheeler Yuta

Yuta hit some forearms that Hobbs no sold, but got Hobbs necked on the ropes. It didn’t do much good though, as Yuta ran into Hobbs and nearly killed himself as Hobbs hit a shoulder tackle. Yuta poked Hobbs in the eyes and went for a crossbody, but Hobbs caught him and hit an Oklahoma Stampede. Hobbs slammed Yuta repeatedly on the apron then hit a massive superplex. Hobbs looked insulted that Yuta had the audacity to kick out.

Yuta slipped out of another middle rope move attempt from Hobbs, and hit a dropkick to the knee of Hobbs. Yuta ripped the kneepad off Hobbs’ right knee, screamed “What is all this tape for?” before stomping Hobbs and announcing he had to five, echoing Bryan Danielson in ROH, as the referee tried to break the hold and resuming stomping the knee. Yuta was incredible in this match as a heel.

Hobbs refused to give up, as he and Yuta ended up back on the ropes again, and Yuta bit Hobbs and shoved him from the ropes and hit a big splash for a 2-count. Yuta mocked the ‘Yes’ chants of Danielson, going for a busaiku knee, but Hobbs hit a clothesline and a powerslam to cut him off, and the fans chanted, “Meat!” for Hobbs. Yuta ended up caught in the corner, and he ate several lariats which McGuiness dubbed a series of t-bones and a ribeye. Yuta went to the knee again, and for the busaiku knee once more, but Hobbs popped up and hit a big spinebuster to pin Yuta. The crowd was not overly hot for this match, but Yuta was an incredible heel.

–Marina Shafir ran down to the ring from the crowd and hit a chopblock on Hobbs. Willow Nightingale ran down to make the save, hitting Shafir with a spinebuster. Yuta grabbed Willow by the hair to stop her beating on Shafir, but Willow shoved him into a forearm from Hobbs. Nightingale went to hit a powerbomb on Yuta, but Shafir pulled him from the ring, and the camera showed Statlander at the entrance tunnels watching the events as the show went off the air.

Final Thoughts

This was a decent episode of Collision, though largely uneventful. No match was a blow away match, but that street fight was tons of fun. The Moxley promo was awesome.

AEW Collision live results: Kris Statlander vs. Willow Nightingale

Old rivalries will be renewed on tonight’s special live edition of AEW Collision on TBS and Max.

Willow Nightingale and Kris Statlander will go one-on-one for the first time since last September’s All Out pay-per-view on tonight’s show. Their street fight last September earned critical acclaim.

In a rematch from the April 5 Collision, “Speedball” Mike Bailey and Dralistico will meet again on tonight’s show.

Tensions between Daniel Garcia and FTR will continue to rise on tonight’s show, with Garcia facing either Dax Harwood or Cash Wheeler in a one-on-one match.

AEW’s “Five-tool Player” Anthony Bowens will look to continue his AEW winning streak on tonight’s show as he faces Lee Johnson. Bowens is 2-0 since returning to AEW at Dynasty’s Zero Hour pre-show in April with his new persona.

Tonight’s show again takes place at the Masonic Temple Theatre in Detroit, the site of last night’s AEW Dynamite episode.

**********

AEW Collision opened with Toni Storm making her entrance, rising up from within one of the box seats dressed in old-timey dress. Storm’s promo was filled double entendres, but she was talking about wrestling, and how she wanted to face a new set of challengers before Hayter or Mercedes Moné.

–The Paragon were backstage, and O’Reilly and Strong were talking about the disappointment they had in losing to FTR, but Adam Cole assured them that it wouldn’t be long before they were back at the top. The Grizzled Young Veterans showed up to challenge them, saying they forgot what it was like to fight for their spot, and they would provide a fight to remind them.

Ricochet defeated Angelico

Zach Gowen was in the audience, booing Ricochet as he made his entrance. The fans chanted “He has hair!” in favour of Angelico, who happened to take the first minute or so of the match, but Ricochet hit a dive and chased after Serpentico on the floor. Ricochet got hit a stun gun in the ropes and a clothesline for a two count, which he disputed with the referee. Richochet missed a 450 splash, but hit a sole butt. Angelico responded with a flying knee and then a lifting flatliner for a 2-count.

Angelico hit a series of lariats off the ropes before locking in an abdominal stretch before slapping Ricochet on the top of his head multiple times. Angelico locked on a half crab, but Ricochet made the ropes. Ricochet hit a standing shooting star press for a 2-count, but an inverted suplex, and hit the spirit gun for the win. This was a good match, but it definitely shouldn’t have been as 50/50 as it was as I cannot tell you the last time I’ve seen Angelico on AEW TV outside of ROH.

–Ricochet invited the crowd to boo him, saying that they were stupid for booing him because if they were smart, they would cheer for him. He listed the people he had beaten, and as he was talking, he paused and pointed out Zach Gowen. He talked about Gowen was retired now, and that he didn’t have a leg in the fight. He shoved Gowen, and security ran over to break it up, but Ricochet hit the security with his mic and threw one of the them into the ring.

Ricochet pulled out a pair of scissors and started cutting the hair of the security officer, but Gowen ran in and took the scissors out of Ricochet’s hands. Ricochet kicked Gowen in the leg and hit the spirit gun on Gowen. Ricochet took Gowen’s prosthetic leg and left the ring with it. Ricochet posed with the leg, and the crowd gave tons of heat to Ricochet for this angle. I suspect we’ll get a match between these two, maybe at Double or Nothing.

The Don Callis Family (Kyle Fletcher, Lance Archer, Rocky Romero, & Trent Berreta) (w/ Don Callis) defeated The Outrunners (Turbo Floyd & Truth Magnum), AR Fox, & Bandido

Nigel McGuinness said that the The Outrunners were two men sharing one brain, and I laughed hard enough that I had to note it here. Fletcher and Bandido started the match, and that is a match I’d love to see. Berretta tagged in and took out Bandido.

The Outrunners came in and double teamed RPG Vice, hitting a clothesline and bulldog combo on both men. Lance Archer came in and chokeslammed both men, and started working over Magnum. Callis and McGuinness had so many quips about the Outrunners I would have had the same amount of trouble keeping track of them as I do keeping track of moves in a Young Bucks match.

Magnum managed to roll into a tag against Bandido who hit an incredible torneo off the turnbuckle on Fletcher. Roponggi Vice tried to tag out Bandido, but he low bridged them. Bandido tried to do the same with Archer, who just stopped and stomped him, but was tossed over the ropes by the Outrunners. AR Fox launched himself over the top rope on the shoulders of Bandido, and then Bandido launched over the ropes onto everyone, as the PWG party match of the show brought the crowd to their feet.

Bandido went for the 21-plex on Fletcher, but Fletcher countered into a dragon suplex, which Bandido countered by landing on his feet and going for a suplex. Fletcher responded with his own and Bandido tagged out to Fox, who hit a cannonball on Fletcher and a DDT on Archer. Fox hit a triangle dropkick on Romero, rolled backwards into a cutter on Fletcher, ducked a PK from Romero, then hit a cutter on Romero. Fox then hit a cutter on Romero and Berretta, but was cut off by Archer, who chokeslammed him off the top rope and RPG Vice hit the Jackal Driver for the win. This was a great match.

–They recapped Ricochet laying out Zach Gowen and taking his prosthetic leg. They then announced Ricochet vs. Zach Gowen for Dynamite the next week, along with highlighting Jon Moxley vs. Samoa Joe.

–A promo video aired about Moxley and Samoa Joe. This was awesome.

–Jon Moxley was backstage cutting a promo about the cage match with Samoa Joe. Moxley said he knew he was going to get beat up, but could Joe really keep going long enough to beat Moxley? Moxley promised that no matter what Joe did, he had been through worse, and that he faced demons that keep people up at night, and he was going to take the fight to Joe, and that he would be the last man standing against Joe and that there was no place he would rather be. This was a tremendous promo.

Anthony Bowens (w/ Billy Gunn) defeated Lee Johnson (w/ Blake Christian)

Bowens and Johnson exchanged some holds until Bowens started to unleash with a series of chops and stomps in the corner. Johnson comically tried to make an alliance with Billy Gunn, which did not go well for him. Christian managed to distract Bowens, allowing Johnson to send Bowens to the floor. Bowens hit a big superkick back in the ring that dropped Johnson, and Bowens hit the Mollywhop for the win.

–Bowens and Gunn did the scissoring pose for the crowd.

–The Gates of Agony came out, and Bishop Kaun grabbed a mic and said that Big Bill and Bryan Keith weren’t going to redeem themselves by beating them. Toa Liona said that he wanted to fight right now, and the Learning Tree came out and started brawling with The Gates of Agony. Liona charged so fast at Bill that he crashed into the barricade and fell into the front row. Kaun grabbed Keith and hit a Death Valley Driver off the stage through two tables on Keith. Liona then speared Bill off the other side of the stage through another set of tables.

–A recap video aired for Anna Jay and Megan Bayne.

–A recap video for Willow Nightingale and Kris Statlander, showing their friendship, the turn of Statlander, and Nightingale challenging her to a match for tonight.

Kris Statlander defeated Willow Nightingale

Tony Schiavone and Nigel McGuinness noted that it is hard to trust Statlander due to her former alliance with Stokley Hathaway, who both commentators dislike. Nightingale booped Statlander, playing off her former gimmick, and Statlander slapped her. Statlander mocked Nightingale with a smiley face, and Nightingale slapped her. They started to exchange hard strikes, and Nightingale hit a snapmare and a thrust kick.

Both women exchanged pinfall attempts until Statlander hit a springboard back elbow for a 2-count. As Statlander hit the ropes, Nightingale ran the opposite direction and hit a pounce that sent Statlander to the floor. Nightingale hit a flip off the apron on Statlander, and Statlander hit a suplex on the floor on Nightingale as they went to an ad break.

The show came back with a really cool camera transition from a hall at the back into the arena and around ringside as Nightingale and Statlander hit stereo clotheslines on each other. Statlander hit a running knee in the corner, and Willow cartwheeled out of the corner and hit a big boot and a spinebuster in a cool spot. Nightingale hit a series of clotheslines in the corner and went for a Death Valley Driver, but Statlander fought out.

Statlander hit an axe kick for a two count on Nightingale. Statlander went for a fisherman’s buster, but Nightingale fought out and hit a Death Valley Driver for a 2-count. Statlander cut Nightingale off on the ropes and hit a top rope superplex on Nightingale. Statlander went for a discus lariat, but Nightingale hit a lariat and then a gutwrench powerbomb.

Statlander rolled to the floor, and Wheeler Yuta made his way down to ringside. Marina Shafir ran in with a chain and choked Nightingale out behind the back of the referee. Statlander did not see this happen, but came in and hit Staturday Night Fever for the win.

— Skye Blue returns on Dynamite next week.

–A recap of Hangman Page and Will Ospreay’s opening segment from Dynamite last night, ending with confirmation that Hangman and Ospreay would be taking on Konosuke Takeshita and Josh Alexander on Dynamite.

The Don Callis Family (Josh Alexander & Konosuke Takeshita) (w/ Don Callis) defeated The Dark Order (Evil Uno & Alex Reynolds)

Alexander and Takeshita immediately attacked The Dark Order, laying out the two men. Reynolds managed to escape some of the attack, tagging out to Uno, but soon after Alexander and Takeshita hit an electric chair into a flying knee on Uno (who sold it like he died, which was great), and Alexander hit the C4 Spike on Reynolds for the win. A quick squash, as it should have been.

Mike Bailey defeated Dralistico

Bailey and Dralistico had several crazy spots to open the match dodging each other. Bailey hit a Asai Moonsault to the floor and chopped Dralistico several times. Dralistico raked the eyes and hit a hurricanrana on the floor that drove Bailey into the steps.

Dralistico slowed the match down, raking the eyes several times and choking Bailey on the ropes as they came back from the break. Bailey hit a few kicks, selling a checked kick, but hitting a chop, and both wrestlers exchanged hard chops, while Bailey hit hard kicks. The crowd went nuts as they exchanged kicks, ending with a thrust kick that dropped Dralistico. That was awesome.

Bailey hit a running shooting star press for a two count. Bailey went for a shooting star press off the top rope, but Dralistico countered into a cradle, and they broke into a pinfall attempts before Dralistico hit a crucifix driver, but Dralistico went for a splash, and Bailey caught him with his feet, popped up onto his shoulders, and hit a Canadian destroyer. Bailey hit a moonsault into double knees on the apron, and hit a spinning heel kick to KO Dralistico for the win. That was an awesome finishing sequence.

–Rush’s music hit and he came out to collect his brother and stare at Mike Bailey, so it seems we are going to be getting that match sooner than later, and it should be awesome.

–Tony Schiavone announced that next week’s AEW Collision will be done in honour of Steve ‘Mongo’ McMichael in Chicago, with his friends and family, including Ric Flair, being in attendance. That is a very nice gesture, and I’m glad they are doing that.

Dax Harwood (w/ Cash Wheeler & Stokely Hathaway) defeated Daniel Garcia via DQ

The fans chanted “Bald!” at Dax Harwood, and Garcia patted the top of Harwood’s head to the delight of the fans and anger of Harwood. Harwood backed Garcia into the corner and refused the clean break, hitting a punch that dropped Garcia and drew boos from the crowd. A simple spot, but it worked. Harwood chopped Garcia hard several times, drawing gasps from the crowd.

Harwood hit a swinging neckbreaker on Garcia, sending him to the mat. Harwood hit several knee drops right in front of Wheeler and Hathaway, who taunted Garcia. Harwood went for a piledriver, but Garcia fought it off. Harwood dumped Garcia to the floor and argued with a fan, which allowed Garcia to block a piledriver on the floor and slingshot Harwood into the ring post.

Harwood came up bleeding, and Garcia suddenly had the match turned around in his favour, as he hit a running shotgun dropkick on the floor, followed by two more as Harwood was seated against the guardrail. As Garcia went for a fourth, Wheeler stopped him by getting in the way, letting Harwood hit a lariat on the floor.

Harwood grabbed the ring bell, but Bryce Remsburg managed to take it away. Hathaway got on the apron and distracted the referee, which allowed Cash Wheeler to hit a cutter on Garcia on the floor. Matt Menard ran down and started brawling with Cash Wheeler, sending him to the back, leaving Harwood with Hathaway at ringside.

Garcia managed to cradle Harwood for a two count. Harwood tied Garcia in the ropes and beat on him before hitting a Randy Orton style DDT from the middle ropes, but Garcia kicked out. The fans chanted a very vulgar set of words at Harwood, voicing their displeasure. Harwood slapped Garcia, but Garcia hit several overhead chops that left Harwood stunned. Garcia hit two hard lariats, but Harwood stayed standing. Harwood hit a hard forearm, but Garcia hit a lariat.

Harwood pulled off the turnbuckle pad trying to block Garcia from hitting a back suplex. Garcia went for the Dragon Tamer, but Harwood shoved Garcia off and he crashed face first into the exposed turnbuckle. Harwood hit a slingshot powerbomb for a 2-count. Harwood went to the top rope, but Garcia managed to cut him off and hit a top rope superplex before rolling into a standing position, placing Harwood back on the top rope, hitting a 2nd top rope superplex, and he did it one last time, hitting a third. That was awesome. Harwood kicked out at 2.

Garcia nailed Harwood with several forearms and dumped Harwood into the crowd. Garcia and Harwood brawled all around the audience, ending up behind the announcers, with Harwood slapping the headset of Nigel McGuinness. Harwood shoved McGuinness after McGuinness refused to fight with him, saying that he was retired. The crowd went nuts as McGuinness got into the ring and he and Garcia cleared the ring of Harwood and a returning Wheeler, with the match ending in a DQ, but the babyfaces getting the upper hand. This is one of the few times I don’t mind the DQ finish, as it made sense within the context of the story being told, and ended with the babyfaces laying out the heels. I think we’ll be seeing Nigel McGuinness opposite FTR at some point soon, probably teaming with Garcia, maybe at Double or Nothing. That will be a really fun match.

Final Thoughts

Good episode of Collision tonight, with lots of recap videos for the important storylines, and good build for the secondary stories in the promotion right now, ending with story advancement for Daniel Garcia vs. FTR.

Both the men’s and women’s Owen Hart Foundation tournaments will continue on tonight’s live AEW Collision from Springfield, Massachussetts.

Following his return at Dynasty to take out Max Caster, Anthony Bowens will begin his singles run as he challenges former ROH World Champion Blake Christian.

After unsuccessfully dethroning AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm at Dynasty, Megan Bayne will look to climb the ladder again in singles action.

**********

Sir Elton John played us in for this edition of Collision from Springfield, Massachusetts. I heard a rumor that the Simpsons were in the cheap seats. Tony Schiavone & Nigel McGuinness were on the call, and after running down tonight’s card, Schiavone announced that PAC’s injury suffered on this past week’s Dynamite will not allow him to defend his Trios Title in the near future. This Wednesday on the Spring Break Thru episode of Dynamite, AEW World Champion Jon Moxley will take PAC’s place alongside the Death Riders as they defend the World Trios Championships against The Opps.

(Hopefully PAC’s injury won’t put him out for too long. Meanwhile, can Mox fit two titles in that briefcase?)

FTR Town Hall

FTR walked to the ring to boos as Tony Schiavone continued to chide their actions. Cash Wheeler said that what happened between them and Adam Copeland wasn’t premeditated, and that his relationship with Copeland predated his partnership with Dax Harwood. Wheeler said that all of Copeland’s actions showed that he didn’t care about FTR, Copeland only cared about himself. Copeland didn’t respect Wheeler as a man, and he had to pay for disrespecting FTR.

Harwood took the mic and said that he saw a sign in the crowd that said Why FTR, Why? Instead of asking why, the fans should be thanking FTR for giving Copeland the relevance he was begging for. He didn’t sell out because he didn’t make any money off of it, and he didn’t have to justify his actions to anybody because they were right. Harwood gave an explanation anyway, as FTR’s only direction for four months was to be Copeland’s new Edge-heads while he chased his dream of being a World Champion one more time.

Harwood said that, like every wrestler in Copeland’s position, he was too damn selfish. He understood that there were a lot of people that weren’t happy with them and turned their attention to Tony Schiavone at the desk. They brought Schiavone into the ring and asked him to repeat his comments from Dynamite, which Schiavone did. Harwood asked Schiavone to repeat his comments regarding his daughter, and Schiavone once again asked how Harwood’s daughter would feel about his actions.

Harwood grabbed Schiavone, and FTR set up a spike piledriver. This forced Nigel McGuinness to rise from his seat to cheers and get in the ring to save Schiavone. Harwood told McGuinness that he signed his death warrant. Daniel Garcia came to the ring to settle things down, but Harwood shoved him down without looking. In a shot mirroring their deception of Copeland, FTR offered hands to Daniel Garcia before helping him up and giving him a hug. FTR left, and Garcia checked on Schiavone at the commentary desk before McGuinness warned Schiavone never to put him in that position again.

(My god, what an opening segment. This felt straight out of the territories, as the bully wrestlers crossed a line and forced McGuinness to make the save. The Daniel Garcia angle is a great short-term point of intrigue as they have an established team as well. I cannot put this segment over enough, just fantastic work from everyone involved.)

AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm was backstage and talked about all of the remaining women in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament before saying that she would be at Double or Nothing to watch the finals.

Owen Hart Foundation 2025 Women’s Tournament Quarter Final Match – Jamie Hayter defeated Billie Starkz

(A stellar showing from both women here as they kicked the in-ring portion of this show off with a bang. Starkz needs some polish, but she’s got an impressive moveset and went blow-for-blow with Hayter here in this hard-hitting matchup. Hayter vs. Statlander in the next round, batten down the hatches.)

The winner of this match will wrestle Kris Statlander in the semifinal.

After watching out for a lariat, Starkz pulled Hayter in on a handshake and drilled her with a spin kick. Hayter knocked Starkz out on a dive attempt and pinballed her around ringside before dumping her in the timekeeper position. Starkz booted Hayter before hitting a Swanton Bomb off the barricade to Hayter’s back. After some back-and-forth in the ring, Hayter scored a nearfall with a main event spinebuster.

After a commercial break, Hayter had Starkz in a single-leg crab. Starkz rolled Hayter into the buckles and caught Hayter with a rebound kick. Starkz hit a high-angle German suplex for a nearfall. Starkz ducked a Hayterade attempt and hit a half-and-half suplex before locking Hayter in A HOLD. Hayter hit the Ushigoroshi and a sliding lariat for a nearfall.

Starkz ducked the rebound Hayterade that beat her in their last match and hit a brainbuster over the knee for a nearfall. Starkz hit a Swanton Bomb for a nearfall, then brought Hayter to the apron. Hayter hit a headbutt before suplexing Starkz from the apron to the floor to a big reaction. Both women beat the countout and traded strikes before Hayter caught Starkz with a backbreaker and a Hayterade for the win.

Match Result: Jamie Hayter def. Billie Starkz

During this match, it was announced that next week’s Spring Break Thru Collision will be live on Thursday. I’ll have to check my schedule for that.

The Death Riders Weren’t Mourning

The Death Riders were backstage. Claudio Castagnoli said that they expected casualties in this war but never mourned them as duty only ends in death. They wouldn’t hide, and they would accept the challenge of The Opps as they did not concede territory. Castagnoli handed PAC’s Trios Title to Marina Shafir as Jon Moxley entered the frame.

Moxley called this a learning experience for a generation of punk play wrestlers who don’t show up to work. There’s glory on the front lines, and you have to put yourself on the front lines to get it. Samoa Joe and Katsuyori Shibata knew that, but what were they teaching Hook? It’s the biggest match of Hook’s life, but he didn’t have to worry, as chicks dug scars.

The Gates of Agony (Toa Liona & Bishop Kaun) defeated two locals

The Gates have been on a winning streak in ROH, and they handled their business quickly here, dumping one guy on the other for the double pin.

Match Result: The Gates of Agony def. two local competitors

Backstage, Lexy Nair tried to talk to FTR as they were leaving before Matt Menard & Angelo Parker cut her off. 2.0 weren’t going to allow FTR to trick Daniel Garcia the same way they tricked Adam Copeland. They challenged FTR to a match tonight, which FTR accepted. Wheeler told 2.0 to give them a taste.

Anthony Bowens (w/Billy Gunn) defeated Blake Christian (w/ Lee Johnson)

(An effective re-introduction of Bowens to the TV audience. He’s a confident talker, and he’s got a nice complement of moves. He should do well as a singles.)

This was a Bowens showcase that went through a commercial break. A Lee Johnson distraction at ringside allowed Christian to get the advantage during the commercial, but Bowens came right back with a jumping Fameasser and a spinout facebuster he calls the Grand Slam for a nearfall. Christian clawed at Bowens’ eyes before hitting a dive through the turnbuckle.

Bowens caught Christian with a twisting DDT in the ropes, but Johnson put Christian’s foot on the ropes to boos. Christian caught Bowens with a Spanish Fly and a handspring kick before scoring a nearfall with a 450 Stomp. Christian caught Bowens with a Stunner off of the ropes but spent time jawing at Billy Gunn before getting caught with a superkick. Billy Gunn took out Johnson before Bowens hit the Mollywop rolling forearm for the win.

Bowens took the mic after the match and said that it was time for him to level up. He called himself AEW’s five-tool player, with the five tools being power, athleticism, intelligence, the look, and the It Factor. He called himself the Pride of Professional Wrestling, and he didn’t need a trademark to prove himself. He asked who would be the next one to step up to the plate.

Match Result: Anthony Bowens def. Blake Christian

Handicap Match – Megan Bayne (w/Penelope Ford) defeated LMK & Kelly Madan

Bayne trucked these poor girls, hitting the Fate’s Descent on Madan on top of LMK and pinning them together. She must’ve watched that Gates of Agony match and gotten an idea. She picked both of them up by the hair and told them to bow down before slamming them down on the mat.

Match Result: Megan Bayne def. LMK & Kelly Madan

Kevin Knight defeated AR Fox

(Another showcase win for Knight on AEW TV. He’ll be off to compete in New Japan’s Best of the Super Juniors in a few weeks, as will Nick Wayne. You can feel Knight getting more confident on-screen with every appearance, and his dual AEW/New Japan contract will continue to get him the reps a budding talent like him needs.)

These two went to a ten-minute time limit draw on Ring of Honor TV in recent weeks and started off quickly here to avoid another draw. After a quick opening exchange left Knight on the apron, Fox rolled over the ropes to stomp Knight in the guts before hitting a post-assisted moonsault to Knight on the floor.

After the commercial, Knight caught Fox with a big dropkick before scoring a nearfall with the Sky High. Fox caught Knight on the ropes with a Lo Mein Pain before hitting a quick 450 Splash for a nearfall. Knight hit another big dropkick and a rolling DDT before hitting the big springboard lariat for the win.

Match Result: Kevin Knight def. AR Fox

The Gates of Agony were backstage, noting that they didn’t mind getting hurt. They called out The Hurt Syndicate and said that they broke people.

FTR defeated Matt Menard & Cool Hang Ang

(What a grand slam home run FTR have hit tonight. In about an hour, a tired act has become an act with energy and vigor. Tying together the threads with Daniel Garcia, Harwood’s issue with the referees, and the Undisputed Kingdom over the past few weeks is excellent television booking, and I applaud whoever put it all together over these past few months. If I had to have one negative about the scenario, it’s Daniel Garcia getting geeked out after a lackluster TNT Title run.)

Daniel Garcia came out to ringside as FTR got the jumpstart. Menard got bloody in the ring as Harwood pinballed him around the ring. Menard fired up with punches before Harwood dropped him with a lariat. Cool Hand Ang took a Shatter Machine, and Menard took the spike piledriver. They hit a second spike piledriver and set up for a third before Garcia talked them down. Harwood pinned Menard for the win.

FTR feigned leaving before stomping out Garcia as he was helping Menard up. They hit Garcia with a pair of spike piledrivers before security and referee Mike Posey came out to stop them. Harwood dropped another referee with a punch before setting up Garcia for a third spike piledriver. The Undisputed Kingdom came out to run off FTR and finally make sure they stayed away.

Match Result: FTR def. Matt Menard & Cool Hand Ang

Owen Hart Foundation 2025 Women’s Tournament Quarter Final Match – Athena defeated Harley Cameron

(Athena gets the win here to give us the big Mercedes Mone match on Dynamite. Athena never felt in trouble in this match, but I would have made her look even more dominant here ahead of the Mone match. Harley Cameron is perfectly fine where she is and wouldn’t have lost a thing putting over Athena strong. I would’ve had Athena knock Cameron out with one of her big knockout forearms to set that up as a big nearfall. As far as the Mone match is concerned, I think it’s smart to have the match on Dynamite. I don’t think Athena is as over as the most hardcore of AEW fans think she is, so doing the match on Dynamite and having a great showing against Mone in Boston would be huge for her.)

The winner of this match will face Mercedes Mone in the semifinals on the Spring Break Thru Dynamite in Boston.

Cameron tied Athena up in the ropes, but Athena pulled Cameron into the turnbuckle. Athena dropped Cameron with a backbreaker on the apron, then hit a wheelbarrow German suplex on the floor to take control into the commercial break.

After the break, Cameron rolled out of a bow-and-arrow for a nearfall. Athena hit a series of kicks for a nearfall. Cameron avoided a kick while in the Tree of Woe and fired up on Athena. She hit a crossbody, but Athena rolled through with her before Cameron rolled her way through with a headscissors. Cameron caught Athena with a punch before hitting a side suplex for a nearfall. Cameron went for Her Finishing Move, but Athena cartwheeled out of it. Athena caught Cameron with a pair of powerbombs and a spin-out knee strike before hitting the O-Face for the win.

Match Result: Athena def. Harley Cameron

Mercedes Mone was in a pre-tape, as she apologized for skipping the “pathetic” Springfield. She had a dream when she came into AEW to hold all the gold, and the Mone Train was only two stops away from making it happen. Athena was only a speed bump, and the best woman would win on Dynamite.

Owen Hart Foundation 2025 Men’s Tournament Quarter Final Match – Konosuke Takeshita defeated Brody King (w/Julia Hart)

(What a freaking war, and what a freaking Collision this was. These two battered each other, with Takeshita eventually chopping down King and putting him away. Brody King can perform at a main event level, and I hope he gets more chances to as time goes on. Meanwhile, AEW is loading up Spring Break Thru, with Athena/Mone and an Ospreay/Takeshita rematch from the 2024 Revolution show. An excellent main event to a show I implore you to check out for yourself.)

The winner of this match will face Will Ospreay in the semifinals on the Spring Break Thru Dynamite this Wednesday.

We got footage of Takeshita beating Hiroshi Tanahashi at the New Japan Windy City Riot event last night in Tanahashi’s final match in the United States, and King beating Lance Archer on Dynamite a couple weeks ago.

Takeshita avoided chops as long as he could, but King brought him down with one early to barks from the crowd. The two men traded strikes before they ended up on the apron, where King dropped Takeshita with a Death Valley Driver. King lined up for the crossbody to the barricade, but Takeshita drilled him with a jumping knee and hit a big dive as we went to a commercial break.

Both men were down as we came back from the break, as we saw footage of a big superplex from King. King scored with a cannonball in the corner for a nearfall. Takeshita tried fighting back with chops, but a big forearm dropped him to a knee. Takeshita came back with a forearm of his own, but King drilled Takeshita with more chops. Takeshita landed a big forearm and collapsed onto King for a nearfall.

Takeshita herked King up for a big Blue Thunder Bomb for a nearfall, but King wouldn’t fall after repeated lariats and dropped Takeshita with a lariat of his own. King hit Dante’s Inferno for another nearfall. Takeshita got King up for the Bastard Driver, then pulled him up and over for a wheelbarrow German suplex. Takeshita hit a monster lariat for a nearfall. Takeshita hit a pair of Powerdrive knees for a nearfall, then lowered the knee pad to hit another pair of Powerdrive knees for the win.

Match Result: Konosuke Takeshita def. Brody King

During this match, it was announced that Hangman Page vs. The Wildcard was set for Wednesday’s Dynamite as well. That show is loaded to the brim.

AEW Collision live results: Three-way trios match, Bandido returns

Tonight’s live AEW Collision from Houston, Texas, will continue to build next Saturday’s Grand Slam Australia from Brisbane.

In a trios match that has been building for weeks, Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong will take on Shane Taylor & The Infantry and TNT Champion Daniel Garcia, Matt Menard & Angelo Parker.

Bandido will return to AEW in-ring action for the first time in nearly two years as he faces Bryan Keith.

In a Continental Classic rematch, Kyle Fletcher will go one-on-one with Mark Briscoe.

Ahead of their Continental title match at Grand Slam Australia, Kazuchika Okada and Buddy Matthews will have a face-to-face confrontation.

AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May will compete in an exhibition match ahead of her title defense against Toni Storm next Saturday.

The show is rounded out by former champion Thunder Rosa vs. Penelope Ford, Dustin Rhodes in action ahead of his Dynamite match with MJF, and a live Harley Cameron concert.

**********

Collision began with promos from Mark Briscoe & Kyle Fletcher. Sir Elton John played us in to Collision from Houston, Texas. Tony Schiavone & Nigel McGuinness were on the call. They were running down the card when a security guard was flung across the screen by Marina Shafir.

AEW World Champion Jon Moxley was behind her, saying that the show began when he said it did. Moxley said that he was tired of Cope demanding a World Title match and made it clear that he called the shots. Moxley said that he had 1,000 reasons to deny Cope a title shot, but the major one was that he didn’t like Cope. Moxley said that while he wouldn’t give him a title shot, he would fight him whenever he wanted. He told Cope to bring his friend Jay White and his half-broken neck to Australia and pray that Moxley gave him the grace to walk out of Australia.

(A solid promo to start the show, with the crowd giving Moxley a ton of heat.)

Trios Three Way Match – The Undisputed Kingdom (Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong) defeated Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor, Carlie Bravo, & Shawn Dean), & TNT Champion Daniel Garcia, Angelo Parker, & Matt Menard

(A phenomenal start to the show, as this may have been the best match on AEW TV in 2025 to this point. This is the ideal version of a trios division, as singles stars teamed with their established partners/friends. This Houston crowd was red hot for everything, which helped the cause. And the turnaround the Kingdom has done since the MJF feud has been impressive. Their in-ring work has helped to rehab them all, and now they feel like a real challenge for the Death Riders come Wednesday. An excellent segment.)

Strong and Taylor started off, with Strong baiting Taylor into the Kingdom corner to get peppered with shots from him and O’Reilly. Taylor took them down with a clothesline and brought O’Reilly into the STP corner, but Menard blind tagged O’Reilly to sneak in. Quick tags were the game here as Menard pulled double duty by hopping on commentary as Garcia hit the ten punches on The Infantry. STP took control of Garcia with an apron attack as we went to commercial.

Garcia took Taylor down with a side suplex as we came back from the break, but the Infantry pulled 2.0 off the apron to keep a tag from happening. Garcia was forced to tag out to O’Reilly, with the Kingdom running wild. We got a move train with everyone getting a big shot in as the Houston crowd was rabid. More fast action saw Taylor get taken out on the floor with a Total Elimination, and Cole scored the win with The Boom on Bravo.

After the match, The Death Riders attacked everyone. Claudio Castagnoli took the mic and congratulated Cole before reminding everyone who the best trio really was. The Kingdom fought back, with O’Reilly tapping out Yuta with an ankle lock. The Death Riders fled, and on behalf of the Kingdom, Cole challenged the Death Riders to a Trios Title match on Dynamite. The match was quickly confirmed for Wednesday in Austin, Texas.

We got a video package for FTR. They said that they’ve taken a back seat for too long, and that they wanted the World Tag Team Titles for a third time.

Max Caster was backstage with Alicia Atout, who asked about Hangman Page. Caster said that how Page acted on Dynamite wasn’t very manly, and that if Page wanted a fight, he should accept his Open Challenge when it returns on Dynamite.

$200,000 Bounty Match – Bandido defeated Bryan Keith

(This Collision rocks so far. Bandido looked awesome in his return, earning the crowd even as some were behind Keith as a native Texan. That duel at high noon spot was phenomenal, and the crowd ate it up. I truly believe that with his gimmick and his work, Bandido has the upside to be the next major lucha star in America if he’s given the chance.)

Keith threw his duster in Bandido’s face to sneak a boot in, but Bandido quickly came back and dropped Keith with a dropkick. Keith caught a diving Bandido with a forearm as he came off the ropes before we went to a commercial break. After the break, Bandido came back with a step-up tornillo and a one-armed gorilla press for a nearfall.

Keith cut off a 21-Plex with a lariat, then stunned Bandido with a rising headbutt. Keith took Bandido off the top rope with an exploder suplex. The two traded strikes before they stood back-to-back. The two men faced off at high noon by taking ten paces to the corner before taking each other down with boots. Bandido got Keith on his shoulders to hit the X-Plex, then hit the 21-Plex to score the win in his return match.

Powerhouse Hobbs was backstage with Lexy Nair. He told Big Bill that his boy wasn’t able to collect the bounty, and that he would be in Texas all week for a fight. He said that he would be in Austin on Tuesday, which is when Dynamite is being taped next week.

La Faccion Ingobernable (Rush, Dralistico, & The Beast Mortos) defeated Ares Alexander, Jay Alexander, & Brick Savage

(Another great segment with AEW taking advantage of their location this week by highlighting the lucha stars on their roster. I was worried about Hologram’s momentum drying up after getting hurt a few months back, but the crowd was still into him as he made the save for Komander to possibly form a new team.)

LFI got a quick win, with Rush getting the pin after the Bull’s Horns. They beat down the locals after the match before Komander made the save. He took down Mortos with a springboard poisonrana, but the numbers were too much for him. LFI went to unmask him before Hologram made his return to AEW to get revenge on the men that put him on the shelf. Hologram and Komander posed before they hit big dives on LFI and brawled to the back.

In the meantime, Rush was threatening a referee with a chair. Other referees tried to hold him back, but Rush shoved them away and laid one out with a big forearm as the announcers said that big fines were headed Rush’s way.

Lexy Nair attempted to interview Megan Bayne, who stonewalled her. Thunder Rosa turned the corner and tried to welcome her to AEW, but Bayne stonewalled her too. Rosa took over the interview as Bayne went on her way, excited to be back in Texas to take on Penelope Ford tonight.

Harley Cameron, Live In Concert

(This segment had a real chance to bomb, but this was as good as you could hope a segment like this could be. This felt straight out of a 2015 episode of NXT in all the right ways. The crowd has really taken to Harley Cameron, and Mone was a great foil here for her to set up her next title defense.)

Cameron had Puppet Mercedes Mone in tow and kicked off by singing about she wanted to ride the Mone Train. She was quickly cut off by Mercedes Mone, who asked if Cameron was stupid or dumb. Mone was about to call Cameron a loser again, but Cameron cut her off to sing another song about Mone feeling the wrath. She got the crowd to chant Feel The Wrath, but Mone cut her off again.

Mone called Cameron a loser and told her to leave the ring, but the crowd chanted for Harley. Cameron said that she wanted to be where Mone was and wouldn’t stop until she got a shot at the title in her hometown. Cameron said that the most entertaining Mone had ever been was when she was a puppet. Mone slapped Cameron, but Cameron bonked her with the mic to send her to the floor. Mone accepted Cameron’s challenge and promised to embarrass Cameron in her hometown.

Buddy Matthews was sat backstage with Lexy Nair. They were scheduled for a sitdown interview with both Matthews and Kazuchika Okada, but Okada hadn’t arrived yet. Okada burst in late and asked for a water, but Matthews decided to cut to the chase. He wasn’t falling for Okada’s comedy schtick and knew what he was capable of, but didn’t think he knew what Matthews was capable of. Okada called Matthews a bitch, and Matthews feigned a swing to make Okada jump. Matthews left, and Okada threw his water down in anger.

Dustin Rhodes defeated Izzy James

This was not the old Bayley fan Izzy, in case I needed to make that clear. Dustin hit his moves and won in the time it took for me to write this down.

After the match, Rhodes took the mic and said MJF wasn’t the devil. Rhodes had looked the devil in the eyes, knocked his teeth out, and dragged his way out of hell. Rhodes said that everything MJF was planning to do to Rhodes had already been done, and that he would make sure MJF met the devil on Dynamite.

The Death Riders were in the back. PAC said that they had been Trios Champions for what felt like an eternity with no challengers and credited the Undisputed Kingdom for stepping up. Castagnoli gave the Kingdom credit for having teeth and promised to pull them all out. PAC and Castagnoli left, leaving Yuta by himself. All he did was give a little smirk, and the people booed him.

Thunder Rosa (w/ Toro The Mascot) defeated Penelope Ford

(I don’t know if Ford got dinged up or got gassed at some point, but there was clearly a point where these two were stalling for Ford to get her bearings. We seem to have Megan Bayne’s first program set with a former Women’s World Champion.)

Toro is the Houston Texans mascot, for those wondering. Rosa scored a nearfall with a sliding lariat before Ford forced her back into the corner. Ford sent Rosa to the apron before hitting a knee drop as we went to commercial.

Ford got a nearfall with a gutbuster after we came back from the commercial break. Rosa avoided a handspring charge into the corner and fired up, hitting a hesitation dropkick and a suplex for a nearfall. Ford came back with a Muta back handspring elbow and a boot across the face. Ford went to the top, but Rosa avoided the moonsault and got a nearfall. Ford hit a shotgun dropkick, but Rosa caught her with a victory roll for a nearfall. Rosa caught Ford with strikes, but Ford Matrix-ducked a lariat and hit a cutter for a nearfall. Rosa hit a backstabber and the Tijuana Bomb for the win.

After the match, Megan Bayne came out and went face-to-face with Rosa. Ford was still in the ring and jumped Rosa from behind, leaving Bayne to pick the scraps and leave Rosa laying with an F-5.

We got footage of Ricochet beating Swerve Strickland on Dynamite, then going to a DEFY Wrestling event to gloat in front of Strickland’s hometown fans in Seattle. Strickland made a surprise appearance to attack Ricochet, with Prince Nana helping him land a House Call.

Legendary Houston rapper Bun B was backstage with Lexy Nair, promoting his Trill Burgers that they were serving in catering. Ricochet entered the frame to confront Bun B, who was friends with Swerve and was part of his Wembley entrance last year. Ricochet helped himself to a Trill Burger before spitting it out and accosting the poor guy making the burgers. Ricochet said to thank Prince Nana for the Embassy robe he stole after Dynamite.

Non-Title Exhibition Match – AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May defeated Shay Carmichael

(A good angle here with the misdirection attack on May. I’ve had my issues with this angle throughout, but they seem to have the match hot right in time for the payoff.)

May came out with a big bag, the brand of which I wasn’t privy to. May jumped Carmichael before the bell, hit her moves, and won with the Mayday.

After the match, May dressed Carmichael up like Storm and smeared lip stain on her. Luther The Butler came out with a tray, revealing the bloody shoe May used all those months ago. May took the shoe and went to attack Carmichael again, but Toni Storm was in her place and attacked May. Storm went to piledrive May on the ring steps, but May escaped through the crowd.

Backstage, The Don Callis Family were laying people out, as they do. Mark Davis was hesitant but was told to start pulling his weight and joined in the attack.

Kyle Fletcher defeated Mark Briscoe

(An excellent main event to cap off the clear-cut best episode of AEW television this year. Briscoe was phenomenal here as the never-say-die babyface against this cocky heel, and the spots playing off of the Continental Classic match brought this match up to another level. This quickly supplanted the trios opener as the best AEW match of 2025, and I cannot recommend this episode of Collision enough. Awesome, awesome show.)

Fletcher jumped Briscoe with a boot at the bell and laid the boots to him in the corner. Briscoe came back and sent Fletcher to the floor, where he followed him out with a dive. Briscoe pulled out the plunder, tossing a chair in the ring and setting up a table on the floor. Briscoe sent Fletcher to the floor again, but Fletcher caught Briscoe and lawn darted him into the ringpost. Briscoe came up bloody, and Fletcher put him down with a powerbomb into the apron as we went to a commercial.

After the commercial, an even bloodier Briscoe fired back with shots before both men laid each other out with clotheslines. Briscoe laid in chops and hit an exploder suplex for a nearfall. Fletcher fought out of a Jay Driller and hit a hanging DDT. Fletcher hit a running knee and a cradle Tiger Driver for a nearfall. Fletcher hit the Yakuza Kick, but Briscoe countered the Brainbuster with a Fisherman’s Buster for a nearfall.

Fletcher cut Briscoe off on the top rope, but Briscoe slid out of a Brainbuster and went for a Cut Throat Driver that won the first match between these two. Fletcher held onto the referee and snuck in a low blow before hitting a brainbuster for a close nearfall. Fletcher dropped Briscoe with half-and-half suplexes before he slumped to the apron. Fletcher pulled the table into position, but Briscoe knocked Fletcher off the ropes and hit a Froggy Bow off the top rope through the table to a massive pop.

Briscoe got Fletcher in the ring and hit another Froggy Bow for another nearfall. Briscoe set up another Cut Throat Driver, but Fletcher held onto the ropes. Briscoe cut Fletcher down with a chop and set up a top-rope Jay Driller, but Fletcher escaped and hit two Yakuza Kicks. Fletcher hit the top rope Brainbuster to score the win.

After the match, Fletcher took the mic and bragged to the crowd about his win and promised to do the same next week in Australia.

AEW Collision Homecoming live results: Takeshita vs. Shibata International title match

AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May and Toni Storm will have a face-to-face session ahead of their February match at Grand Slam Australia.

Samoa Joe returns for the first time since last July as he takes on Nick Wayne while Powerhouse Hobbs squares off with Big Bill.

The show is rounded out by Buddy Matthews & Brody King vs. Gates of Agony.

**********

We got pre-roll promos from The Patriarchy, Toni Storm, Mariah May, & Samoa Joe. Tony Schaivone & Nigel McGuinness were joined by Jim Ross for this week’s show.

Samoa Joe (w/ Hook & Katsuyori Shibata) defeated Nick Wayne (w/The Patriarchy)

Good to see Joe back in a fun opener to continue the Patriarchy/Hook & Friends feud.

This match was originally scheduled for Dynamite, but Samoa Joe had travel issues due to winter weather.

The Patriarchy surrounded Joe before Hook & Shibata came out to ward them off. Joe took the fight to Wayne to start, peppering him with jabs in the corner. Joe had Wayne up for the Muscle Buster, but Wayne raked the eyes to escape. Wayne worked over Joe’s legs, hitting a moonsault to Joe on the outside.

Joe came back with the uranage in the corner, but Wayne clawed at Joe’s eyes to avoid another Muscle Buster attempt. Wayne hit a rolling Code Red for a nearfall. A Wayne’s World attempt got ducked, and Joe laid out Wayne with a sick lariat before scoring with the Muscle Buster for the win.

We got a recap of the angle from Dynamite with Will Ospreay, Kenny Omega, & The Callis Family.

Champion vs. Champion Non-Title Match – AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada defeated ROH TV Champion Komander

This was a good clash of styles, with Komander having another good showing against a top-line star in Okada.

Komander refused to shake Okada’s hand and used his pace to keep Okada off balance to start the match. Komander hit a tope to the floor before Okada dropped him with a boot. Komander came back with a step-up armdrag to the floor but got caught on a headscissors attempt on the floor and dropped with a DDT.

After a commercial break, Okada tried to catch another headscissors attempt, but Komander caught him with an X-Factor. A wheelbarrow bulldog got Komander a nearfall, but Okada cut off a springboard and hit the neckbreaker over the knee. Okada hit the elbow drop and gave the big middle finger, but Komander ducked the Rainmaker and hit a step-up headscissors. Komander hit a springboard destroyer and hit a ropewalk moonsault to the floor. Okada caught Komander on a springboard and hit the Rainmaker for the win.

After the match, Okada finally got his handshake before jumping Komander from behind and cackling to the back.

We got a recap of last week’s run in that led to the trios match tonight between Daniel Garcia & 2.0 & The Undisputed Kingdom.

Powerhouse Hobbs was waiting in the parking lot for Big Bill. Bill arrived, chucking a brick at Hobbs’ head and pinballing him around. Bill laid him out with a big boot, but Hobbs ripped a fence door off and hit Bill with it before security separated them.

Big Boom AJ & Big Justice were backstage with Lexy Nair, who were interrupted by The Undisputed Kingdom. Adam Cole came in and did the Boom with them.

The Undisputed Kingdom (Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong) defeated Daniel Garcia, Angelo Parker, & Matt Menard

This is the best way to rehab the Undisputed Kingdom after the MJF feud, by having them earn back their cache in-ring. A solid match here to build a few issues in the midcard.

Shane Taylor Promotions were ringside. Cole & Garcia started off, with both teams getting quick tags in before Garcia laid out O’Reilly on the floor for a commercial break. After the break, the former Jericho Appreciation Society members were laying into O’Reilly in the corner before O’Reilly fought to his corner.

Cole got the hot tag and traded shots with Garcia, dropping him with a neckbreaker over the knee. Strong and Parker tagged in, with Strong running wild with backbreakers. O’Reilly and Strong laid out Menard with double forearms before pinning Parker with a Total Elimination. Both teams shook hands after the match as Shane Taylor Promotions glowered at the scene at ringside.

Max Caster was backstage, upset that his partner and his mentor turned their backs on him last week. He called himself a survivor and announced an Open Challenge Series, daring people to step up to the Best Wrestler Alive.

(I gotta tell you, I don’t like Caster’s chances.)

There was a blink-and-you’ll-miss it tease for Hologram, who has been out on paternity leave recently.

Top Flight was backstage with Lexy Nair. Dante was upset that Lio Rush & Action Andretti weren’t in the building, but Darius wasn’t surprised. He went off on Dante, noting that he never wanted Rush in the group to begin with. Andretti had helped them out while Dante was hurt, but Rush bailed on Dante when Darius got hurt prior to that. Darius challenged Rush to a match and promised to send him packing again.

(I’m intrigued by this lower-card feud, as it continues to evolve in a logical way and continues to keep these four talented guys on screen.)

Mariah May & Toni Storm’s Face-To-Face

I’ve been critical of this story, and I still don’t really understand why Storm pretended to not remember anything. But she got a big pop for the Timeless reveal and cut a good promo, so I guess all’s well that ends well.

Tony Schiavone was in the ring to moderate the face-to-face between Toni Storm & Mariah May. May entered first, ready to get this s**t over with in her own words. May ran Storm down, calling her a joke and a meme before promising to humiliate Storm in her hometown. Storm said that she was May’s biggest fan, having followed her career from the UK to Japan to AEW. Storm said that she wanted to be just like May and gave her a hug. May reciprocated before slapping her in the face and laying her out with the title belt.

May went to leave, but Storm took the mic and asked why May thought she’d forgotten everything. Storm got back into her Timeless Toni voice and disrobed out of her rocker clothes, revealing that she was playing the role of herself and had given the performance of a lifetime. Storm fired up and said that she would rip May apart in Australia as the crowd went crazy.

We got a preview of a long form interview with Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli with Renee Paquette.

Hounds of Hell (Brody King & Buddy Matthews) (w/ Julia Hart) defeated Gates Of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona)

The House of Black is officially dead, and the Hounds of Hell are in their place. King and Matthews can be a cornerstone team in a rebuilt tag division, and can be a credible threat to the Hurt Syndicate moving forward.

King & Matthews came out with a new presentation and a new name as the Hounds of Hell. Matthews and Liona started off before King and Liona traded big shots. Kaun tagged in and helped Liona clubber on King in the corner. Matthews tagged in and took the Gates to the floor before hitting a big dive into the commercial break.

The Gates were running wild as we came back, dumping King over the timekeeper’s table before hitting a double tree slam on Matthews for a nearfall in the ring. King made his way back to the corner and got the tag, running wild on both Gates and hitting a DVD on Liona for a nearfall. Matthews cut off another tree slam, kicking off a move train. Liona no-sold a piledriver, but Matthews hit a Meteora to take him out. Matthews and King hit a corner cannonball/dropkick combination on Kaun for the win.

Big Boom AJ & Big Justice were backstage with Lexy Nair & Harley Cameron. Cameron didn’t know any of their gimmicks, and Deonna Purrazzo & Taya Valkyrie interrupted them all to talk trash to Cameron.

Penelope Ford & Thunder Rosa were backstage with Lexy Nair. Ford challenged Rosa to a match, and they talked trash to each other.

AEW TBS Title #1 Contendership Four Way Match – Yuka Sakazaki defeated Serena Deeb, Deonna Purrazzo (w/ Taya Valkyrie), Queen Aminata

The action came quickly, with all four women going for flash pins. No one had a clear advantage, with all the women laying in big shots. Sakazaki hit a big dive to the floor as we went to commercial. After the commercial, Purrazzo hit La Mistica on Aminata to lock on a Fujiwara Armbar, but Aminata fought out and they dropped each other with clotheslines.

Sakazaki hit a high cross on Deeb for a nearfall. Deeb came back with a flurry of suplexes and a short-arm lariat to Aminata for a nearfall. Deeb and Aminata brawled to the back, as Valkyrie got in the ring to help Purrazzo. Harley Cameron came out to take Valkyrie out of the match, and Sakazaki caught Purrazzo with a flash pin to win the title shot on Wednesday’s Dynamite.

The Hounds of Hell were in the back with Lexy Nair, with Buddy Matthews saying they barked as one. Kazuchika Okada was laughing at them off to the side, saying that they barked like bitches. Matthews challenged Okada to a title match, with Okada giving him a middle finger in denial. Matthews said that made Okada the bitch and walked off.

Big Bill was in the ring, calling out Powerhouse Hobbs again. Hobbs came out and bumped a bunch of security guards to get to the ring. Bill went after Hobbs’ knee and hit him with a backpack that contained a brick, Hobbs’ knee brace, and a set of handcuffs. Bill punched Hobbs with the handcuffs and bloodied him up as they made their way to the announce table. Bill drilled Hobbs with a chair. Hobbs came back and took Bill off the stage with a belly-to-belly off the stage through a table.

We got a pre-tape of the Don Callis Family meeting in Callis’ palatial estate. Callis noted that this was a different Kenny Omega, one that was bloodthirsty and ready to spill Callis’ blood. Cage brought up how they had the numbers advantage as it was five-on-two, but Callis reminded him that a barely focused Omega won three World Titles with Callis by his side. Callis said that Cage was wrong that there were only five of them, with the camera focusing on a sixth plate at the table.

AEW International Title Match – Konosuke Takeshita (c) defeated Katsuyori Shibata

An awesome main event here, as Shibata took Takeshita to the brink with Daily’s Place red-hot for it. Takeshita looked strong going into the big-time Grand Slam Australia tag match.

The two grappled to start the match, with Shibata almost scoring with the Penalty Kick. Shibata cornered Takeshita, but Takeshita fired out of the corner with a lariat. Takeshita took Shibata over the barricade and went for a running boot, but Shibata caught him with a boot and knocked him over a chair as we went to commercial.

Shibata hammered Takeshita in the corner as we came back from the break, landing the hesitation dropkick and the half-hatch suplex for a nearfall. Shibata teed off with kicks, but Takeshita came back with strikes of his own. Takeshita landed a big forearm, but Shibata came back with an STO. The two traded forearms before Shibata snatched on a sleeper hold. Takeshita tried to fall back, but Shibata held on to the hold.

Takeshita transitioned out of the sleeper into a Bastard Driver and a German suplex, but Shibata hammered Takeshita with a Penalty Kick as the fans chanted AEW. Shibata locked in the Cobra Twist as Don Callis went to ringside from the announce booth. The two men traded suplexes before Shibata got the sleeper hold on again. Callis cut off the Penalty Kick, allowing Takeshita to counter the sleeper with a Blue Thunder Bomb for a one count.

Takeshita ran through Shibata with a lariat and the Powerdrive Knee before landing Raging Fire for the win.

AEW Collision live results: Cope vs. Big Bill, Chris Jericho vs. Dax Harwood

AEW heads to Athens, Georgia, for tonight’s live Collision which will see several champions in non-title action.

Former TNT Champion Cope (Adam Copeland) will take on Big Bill after the two were involved in a trios match last Saturday. It will be Cope’s first singles match since May’s Double or Nothing when he fractured his tibia.

In another match coming out of that trios bout, Ring of Honor World Champion Chris Jericho will battle FTR’s Dax Harwood in a non-title match. The last time they went one-on-one, Mike Tyson was special guest enforcer.

Another non-title bout will feature AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May against Harley Cameron. They have squared off once with May leaving victorious.

In two matches made Saturday afternoon, AEW Trios Champion PAC will take on reigning ROH TV Champion Komander while PAC’s partners Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta will face the upstart Outrunners.

Join us for live coverage at 8 PM Eastern.

**********

Collision began with words from Harley Cameron, Mariah May, Rated FTR, & The Learning Tree. Sir Elton John played us into the show. Tony Schiavone & Nigel McGuinness were on the call.

Cope defeated Big Bill

This was a very good return to singles action for Cope, as he and Big Bill had a quality opener here. However, I wouldn’t have had the guy stepping up to Jon Moxley use a low blow to beat a guy at Big Bill’s level. It felt cheap, as it took away from a quality match and victory here. I also would’ve just had Harwood vs. Jericho start here since they were both already out there.

Ring of Honor World Champion Chris Jericho was on commentary to support his student Big Bill. Bill took Cope to the floor quickly, but Cope drove Bill into the steps and pinballed him around ringside. Cope drove Bill into the announce desk to Jericho’s chagrin, but Bill came back with a big boot. Bill clubbered on Cope around ringside as we went to a commercial.

After the break, Cope fought from underneath to take Bill down, scoring a nearfall with a Northern Lariat. Bill came back with a big Boss Man Slam for a nearfall. I didn’t even mean to do that on purpose. Bill called Jericho over to provide a distraction as he ripped the turnbuckle pad off, but Cope avoided a Snake Eyes into the buckle. Both men went to the top rope, and Cope pulled Bill’s head into the exposed buckle before hitting a powerbomb for a nearfall.

Cope went for the Spear, but Bill moved, and Cope hit the turnbuckle. Bill followed up with the Big Boot for a nearfall. Cope countered a chokeslam with an Impaler DDT and cut the Redwood in half with a spear, but Bill kicked out to a big reaction from the crowd. Bill goozled Cope, but Cope pushed the referee out of the way and kicked Bill in the groin before hitting another spear. Cope hit the trademark Moxley hammer-and-anvil elbows before choking Bill out for the win.

Jericho & Bryan Keith jumped Cope after the match, but FTR ran down to make the save. Dax Harwood will take on Chris Jericho later on in the program.

We got a video package for Kenny Omega ahead of his return to AEW action against Brian Cage on Dynamite.

Hangman Page Speaks

Hangman Page was sulking in the back, as per usual. He talked about how he tried to protect his family from the issues that fame brought, and that in one night, it was all taken away. He was ashamed of the incident and was ashamed that he allowed it to happen. He decided to do something about it and made sure that Swerve Strickland lost the World Title, took his potential family home away, and all but spilled his brains out in front of the world.

Page turned his attention to Christopher Daniels, who he humored for a long time because Daniels was the first star of substance to see something in Page when he was young. But Daniels crossed the line and put his hands on Page last week on Collision, so Page promised to make him pay next week on Collision in a Texas Death Match. Daniels made his bed, and Page would lay him down in it.

PAC defeated Komander (w/ Alex Abrahantes)

This was a very good showcase for Komander, who PAC had real trouble with before giving himself the slightest of openings and snatching on the Brutalizer. I may have thought about giving Komander the win to set up a trios title challenge, but I understand keeping the Death Riders strong.

The two went speed-for-speed to start before Komander hit a wacky headscissors over the ropes. Komander hit the ropewalk dive to the floor, following it up with a springboard crossbody for a nearfall. PAC shut Komander down and took him to the floor, where he got in his former Death Triangle associate Abrahantes’ face. PAC booted Komander in the ring before sliding out and getting his hands on Abrahantes, but the distraction allowed Komander to do a step-up moonsault to PAC on the floor.

Back in the ring, Komander hit a wild X-Factor before hitting a tilt-a-whirl DDT for a nearfall. Komander went for a step-up moonsault, but PAC cut him off and hung him up on the ropes. PAC went up for the Black Arrow, but Komander rolled away. Komander caught a charging PAC with a pair of superkicks, then hit a step-up Destroyer. Komander went for a 450 Splash, but PAC got the knees up and snatched on the Brutalizer for the win.

After the match, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta made their way to the ring, with the announcers talking about how Castagnoli wanted payback after Komander’s Christmas Dynamite upset over him. The Outrunners made the save for Komander, and this time, the upcoming match started right then and there.

Death Riders (Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta) defeated The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd)

This was the best straight-up tag match I’ve seen the Outrunners have in their AEW run, as the crowd was hot for them here against a main event act in the Death Riders.

The Outrunners worked over Yuta until Castagnoli knocked down Floyd from the apron. Castagnoli worked over Floyd until he got caught with a Thesz Press. The Outrunners knocked Castagnoli & Yuta to the floor as we went to the commercial break.

After the commercial break, the Death Riders were working over Magnum, scoring a nearfall with a Hart Attack. Magnum fought for the tag and eventually got it to Floyd, who ran wild with bodyslams. They hit the Predator Elbow on Yuta, but Total Recall got cut off. Yuta sent Floyd into the ropes, where Castagnoli hit an uppercut for a nearfall.

We got a pinning predicament with Yuta and Floyd, ending with Floyd stuffing a Seatbelt attempt for a nearfall. Castagnoli screamed at Yuta to finish the match but got annoyed and dragged Yuta to the corner to force a tag. They hit the Giant Swing dropkick, but a bit of confusion on the legal man allowed Floyd to break the cover. A Yuta cutoff allowed Castagnoli to drop Floyd with a Gutwrench Superplex, and a Rocket Launcher got the win for the Death Riders.

We got a commercial hyping all of the matches on Dynamite: Maximum Carnage on Wednesday.

We got a promo from Powerhouse Hobbs ahead of his AEW World Title match on Dynamite. He said that everything Jon Moxley wanted was standing in front of him, as Hobbs took initiative and won the Casino Gauntlet Match to earn a World Title shot. Hobbs said that he had been shot, stabbed, and left for dead. Moxley couldn’t do anything to him, and he would make Moxley his b***h.

Non-Title Match – Mariah May defeated Harley Cameron

AEW may have a prospect with Harley Cameron. She’s very charismatic, and she did well here against the World Champion.

Cameron has new music, which was probably urging fans to feel the wrath of Harley Cameron. Cameron went for some flash pins, but May shut her down with a headbutt. Cameron came back with a Russian leg sweep and an enzuigiri for a nearfall. May came back with a shotgun dropkick as we went to commercial.

May was still in control when we came back from commercial, scoring a nearfall with a headscissors off of the top rope. Cameron came back with a hairmare before running wild with strikes. Cameron hit a pumphandle back suplex for a nearfall. Cameron stuffed the Storm Zero with a jackknife for a nearfall, but May came back with a running knee and a Storm Zero for the win.

We got a promo from Christopher Daniels. He never came to Hangman Page as an official, but as a friend. He watched as Page went through the worst year of his life, and watched as the rest of Page’s friends deserted him. He tried to help Page out but was only met with violence. Daniels was angry that Page asked what he had done in the business, running down his resume as a former AEW World Champion and an architect of two separate wrestling promotions. He was AEW before AEW existed, and he would add beating Hangman Page to his resume.

Brody King (w/ Julia Hart) defeated Trevor Blackwell

King quickly handled Blackwell, beating him with a Gonzo Bomb.

After a commercial, Brody King & Julia Hart were backstage with Lexy Nair. He was interrupted by Cope, who said that he respected King after their run-ins over the last year. Cope said that it was time for King to take the reins and run.

TNT Championship Match – Daniel Garcia (c) defeated Katsuyori Shibata

This was a great defense for Garcia here. He tried to match Shibata at Shibata’s own game, and while Shibata remained a step ahead of him for most of the match, Garcia was able to outwrestle The Wrestler and get a win with his signature Jackknife cradle. I would have main evented the show with this to signal that the TNT Title is worthy of main eventing an episode of TV.

Matt Menard joined commentary for Garcia matches, as usual. The commentary brought up how due to the inclement weather in Georgia, Garcia had to get ready in the taxi on the way from the Atlanta airport. They questioned if Garcia’s lack of warm-up would cost him here in this championship match. Garcia and Shibata traded chops to start, with Shibata winning the exchange and hitting the hesitation dropkick in the corner.

Garcia made his comeback after the break, with he and Shibata trading inside cradle attempts for nearfalls. They went to trading boots and back suplexes before Shibata laid Garcia out with an STO. They both sat back up before Shibata won a chop exchange and locked in a Cobra Twist. Garcia hit a Dragon Screw leg whip and tried an ankle lock before Shibata countered it. A Dragon Tamer got countered into an Achilles Lock and a Figure Four from Shibata.

Garcia got to the ropes and ducked a Penalty Kick, but Shibata stuffed another Dragon Screw and popped Garcia with an open-hand slap. Shibata pulled Garcia into a hold, but Garcia caught Shibata with a jackknife cover for the win. The two shook hands and raised each other’s hands after the match.

We got a video package hyping the Women’s Casino Gauntlet on Dynamite, narrated by Renee Paquette.

Chris Jericho defeated Dax Harwood

This was a decent Jericho match with a sloppy and cold finish. I would had Cope vs. Big Bill in this spot instead. The post-match angle was why this match was the main event, with the Rated FTR/Learning Tree TV feud tying into the bigger Rated FTR/Death Rider angle. They did a good job of setting Hobbs up as a challenger for Moxley, having Moxley show a semblance of fear against the big man.

Jericho and Harwood locked on a collar-and-elbow tie-up and went all across ringside with it before re-engaging in the ring. Harwood went after Jericho’s leg after a deep Dragon Screw leg whip, wrapping the leg around the ringpost before Jericho yanked Harwood into the post. They fought around ringside again before Harwood hit a brainbuster in the ring for a nearfall. Jericho came back with chops before hitting a top rope hurricanrana into the commercial break.

Jericho had control coming out of the break before Harwood rolled through a high cross for a nearfall. Jericho couldn’t lock on the Walls of Jericho, so he catapulted Harwood into the corner buckles before hitting a Lionsault for a nearfall. Harwood hit another Dragon Screw, but Jericho sent Harwood into the corner post. After a near-slip in the corner, Harwood hit a superplex to lay both men out in the middle of the ring.

Harwood and Jericho laid into each other with chops before slapping each other down. Jericho rolled to the floor and went to use the title belt, but Harwood knocked him down on the outside. Jericho shoved Harwood into the stairs and laid him out with a Codebreaker. Harwood beat the count back in and fought off another Walls of Jericho attempt to lock on a Sharpshooter.

Jericho got to the ropes, and as the referee was dealing with Harwood, Jericho went for a belt shot and missed. Jericho popped the referee in the eye and moved out of the way of a diving headbutt. Jericho hit Harwood with the ROH Title but got a long nearfall out of it. Jericho landed the Judas Effect for the win.

After the match, the rest of the Learning Tree ran out to beat down Harwood. Cope & Cash Wheeler ran down to make the save before the Death Riders made their way to the ring to handle FTR & Cope. The Outrunners came down to even the numbers, and most of the guys fought to the floor.

Cope laid out PAC with a spear, but Jon Moxley appeared and dropped him with a Paradigm Shift. Marina Shafir brought two chairs to set up a Con-Chair-To to Cope before Powerhouse Hobbs made his way to the ring, bursting through all of the heels on the floor. He went face-to-face with Moxley before laying out Castagnoli with a spinebuster. Moxley hit Hobbs with a chair, but Hobbs didn’t budge and knocked the chair out of Moxley’s hands. Hobbs chased Mox to the outside before Shafir cut Hobbs off. Wheeler Yuta went to jump Hobbs, but Hobbs put him through the announce table with a uranage. Hobbs motioned for the title as the show went off the air.

During this match, it was announced that all three members of The Hurt Syndicate would be in action against tag team champions Private Party & Mark Briscoe on Dynamite.

**********

Collision, taped in Chicago, Illinois.

Tony Schiavone & Nigel McGuinness were on commentary.

Will Ospreay defeated Juice Robinson in a Gold League Continental Classic Match (12:36)

Ospreay got a mega-pop, and Robinson also got a not-too-shabby pop himself, since he hails from nearby Joliet. Robinson blocked a Oscutter early-on, but couldn’t avoid a step-up hurricanrana. Ospreay hung Robinson up in the “tree of woe” then dove at him with a dropkick. Ospreay tried up Robinson in an octopus hold. Juice escaped and went for a senton, but Robinson lifted his knees. Robinson finally go the edge with a clothesline in the corner, then followed up with a cannonball and hangman’s neckbreaker for a near fall.

Robinson hit a crossbody off the top for a near fall. Ospreay fought out of a power bomb attempt. Ospreay went for a hurricanrana, which Robinson was likely supposed to block, but he awkwardly fell instead (and it looked like Ospreay came down on his neck, but that could have just been selling, too). Robinson powered Ospreay up from the mat and into a nasty powerbomb.

After a split-screen break, Ospreay sprung into the ring with a forearm on Juice. Ospreay hit Robinson with a plancha on the floor. Back in the ring, Ospreay caught Robinson with a running boot in the corner. Ospreay ran into a leg lariat from Robinson. Robinson followed up with rights. Ospreay ducked the Left Hand of God and hit a Stundog Millionaire. Robinson avoided another Oscutter and floored Ospreay with a lariat for a near fall. The crowd was really getting behind Juice. Ospreay caught Robinson with a kick and the Styles Clash for a near fall. Ospreay followed up with the Hidden Blade and got the pinfall. Great showing from Juice here.

During the match, it was announced that Ospreay v. Allin would take place on the December 18th Dynamite from D.C.

– Mariah May cut a promo on the set where she attacked Mina Shirakawa last week. May attacked Shirakawa to give Mina everything she ever wanted. Mina v. Mariah for the World Women’s Title is set for December 11th on Dynamite.

Private Party & Místico defeated The MxM Collection & Johnny TV (8:16)

Mansoor standing in the camera shot with a leaf blower to give Johnny the wind blown effect for his entrance was *chef’s kiss.*

Mansoor got double-teamed in the Private Party for a near fall. He got the blind tag to Madden, and Marq Quen got triple-teamed by the heels for the near fall. More triple-teaming from the heels lead to a mid-ring pose from the heels. The heels set up Quen for the most elaborate triple team kick to the posterior I’ve ever seen.

Quen finally got the hot tag to Zay by ducking a double clothesline. Zay went after all three men, catching Madden with a Cutter and dropkicking TV and Mansoor to the floor. Zay followed out with a dive on Johnny, then hit Madden with an Asai Moonsault. Back in the ring, Zay missed a senton on TV for a near fall.

Místico caught Mansoor with a springboard crossbody. Mansoor and TV tossed Zay into a high-angle spinebuster from Madden for a near fall. TV caught Zay with an enziguri and went to the top, but Místico crotched him. Místico caught MxM on the floor with a top rope dive, and Private Party finished off TV with the Gin & Juice. Pretty good, but I was surprised by what a non-factor Místico was.

– Lexi Nair interviewed Anna Jay, who can’t challenge for the AEW World Women’s title anymore (while Mariah is champion, anyway), so she’ll be taking a big swing at someone else instead.

Kyle Fletcher defeated The Beast Mortos in the Blue League of the Continental Classic (9:18 aired)

Don Callis was on commentary for this match. Wait. No seconds are allowed but Callis is allowed to be on commentary? The commentary desk is right at ringside!

Fletcher slammed Mortos and sneered at him. Mortos caught Fletcher with a tijeras. Fletcher countered a monkey flip attempt and sent Mortos to the floor with a forearm.

Fletcher hit a Michinoku Driver for a near fall coming back from the break. Mortos backdropped Fletcher, then hit a Canadian Destroyer, but a DDT instead of a piledriver. Fletcher dropped to the floor, and Mortos followed him out with a tornio. Back in the ring, Fletcher avoided a dive from Mortos, and followed up with a sit-out Last Ride style powerbomb for another near fall. Fletcher followed Mortos into the corner with a boot. He set up Mortos for a superplex, but Mortos headbutted him down. Mortos came off the top with a crucifix driver, then a stiff lariat for another near fall. Fletcher came back with his own lariat, hit another running boot in the corner, and finished off Mortos with a brainbuster. Fletcher got his first 3 points in the tournament.

Fletcher will face Shelton Benjamin in his next Blue League match on Dynamite Wednesday.

– A recap of the feud no one wants to see continue between MJF and Cole’Reily. This led to Lexi Nair interrupting an argument between Kyle O’Reilly and The Kingdom. I guess now the Kingdom wants Kyle to stay out of it while they finish off MJF? It sounds like O’Reilly respects what they want, but isn’t going to do it anyway.

The Outrunners defeated Iron Savages (w/ Jack Jamison) (2:51)

Not only do the Outrunners come out to a 4:3 aspect ratio, but they’ve added tracking errors on the screen. Boulder went to try a springboard something out of the corner, but missed tragically. Truth Magnum then got the “hot tag” (at 1:30) to Turbo Floyd, who bodyslam Bronson. He couldn’t bodyslam big Boulder on the first try, but did on the second. The Outrunner finished off Boulder with some kind of double-team neckbreaker.

After the match, FTR came out to shake hands with the Outrunners.

– Lexi Nair interviewed Max Caster, who challenged Swerve Strickland for Dynamite. Caster talked baldy about Billy Gunn and Anthony Bowens. Caster “gave [them] the week off” after Bowens lost the title match at Full Gear. Caster might make a great heel in the long run but this is absolutely the wrong time for it.

“Hangman” Adam Page defeated  Wheeler Yuta (12:13)

Page was chastised by the referee for trying to take the turnbuckle padding off one of the corner. Page clotheslined Yuta to the floor, then basically F-5’d him into the ring apron face-first. Yuta tried to toss Page back into the ring, but he rebounded off the bottom rope and hit Yuta with a lariat.

Back in the ring, Page hit a belly-to-belly suplex for a near fall. Yuta ducked a springboard lariat and caught Page by clipping his knee. Yuta went to work on Page’s knee.

After a split-screen break, Yuta countered a top rope superplex attempt by hanging up Yuta in the ropes. Page powerbombed Yuta out of the corner. Page booted Yuta to the floor and whipped him around the ring barricades. The crowd started to get behind Page. Back in the ring, Page hit a death valley driver for a near fall.

PAC and Claudio Castagnoli showed up in the crowd, and this distraction led to a near fall for Yuta. Page floored Yuta with a discus lariat. Page set up Yuta for the Buckshot Lariat as Jon Moxley and Marina Shafir showed up behind PAC and Castagnoli. Page went for the Buckshot Lariat, but he hurt his knee when he planted and Yuta went for the Seatbelt. Page countered, maneuvered Yuta into the Dead Eye reverse piledriver, and got the pinfall.

After the match, Page beat on Yuta. He threatened to break his neck with the chair, but Jay White ran out to save Yuta… then White gave Yuta the Blade Runner. White got into Yuta’s face and told him “Tell your king that the real king is coming for his title!”

– Thunder Rosa promoted the Lucha episode of Rampage. Also, watching Mariah May turn on Mira Shirakawa has Rosa interested in getting back into the title picture again. She will be closely watching the title match at Winter is Coming.

– In the back, Adam Page told Christopher Daniels the last thing he needed was advice from an old man like him.

Mina Shirakawa defeated Leila Grey (3:26)

Grey caught Mina with a kick while she was dancing. Grey and Shirawaka exchanged blows. Shirakawa caught Grey with a kick and a running lariat for a near fall. Grey dodged a charge in the corner and caught Mina with a running knee. Mina avoided a pump kick, then caught Grey with a spinning backfist for a near fall. Grey countered a Glamorous Driver with a roll up. Mina caught Grey with a blockbuster off the middle ropes, then finished off Grey with the Glamourous Driver.

– Lexi Nair interviewed Willow Nightingale abut her upcoming International Women’s cup qualifier. Nightingale will face Serena Deeb on Collision next week, and the winner of that match will face Jamie Hayter at Winter is Coming. The winner of that match goes on to the International Women’s Cup on January 5th at the Tokyo Dome.

Kazuchika Okada and Daniel Garcia went to a time limit draw in a Blue League Continental Classic Match (20:00 announced, 18:57 or so aired)

Garica has the classic gold TNT title, not that dirty one Jack Perry was wearing. And again, no seconds are allowed at ringside but there’s Matt Menard, sitting at the commentary desk.

Garcia countered a forearm attempt from Okada with a backslide, which set off Garcia getting a couple of near falls off cradle attempts. Okada faked out Garcia by offering a handshake and Garcia made him pay for it with chops and a shotgun dropkick.

After a split-screen break, Okada missed a slingshot senton. Okada ducked a clothesline and locked Garcia in the Money Clip. That move is as over in AEW as it was in New Japan. Garica fought his way out of the hold and kicked Okada In the corner. Garcia locked in a sleeper on Okada, then hit a running knee strike for a near fall.  Garcia locked in a sharpshooter, but Okada easily made the ropes, the dropped to the floor.

On the floor, Garcia stood over Okada and rained down punches on him, then hit Okada with a running shotgun dropkick. Okada was selling his shoulder, and when referee Aubrey Edwards turned to get medical help, Okada popped up and nailed Garcia with a chair. Okada then DDT’d Garcia on the floor and showed Edwards his shoulder was fine.

After a second commercial break, Okada and Garcia were brawling on the top rope. Garcia superplexed Okada from the top rope for a near fall. Okada caught Garcia with a neckbreaker for a near fall. Okada hit a top rope elbow, then taunted Garcia by mimicking his dance. Garica responded by catching Okada with an ankle lock. Okada escaped by making the ropes, and Garcia followed up with another shotgun dropkick. Okada went for a dropkick, but Garcia blocked it. Garcia went for the sharpshooter again, but Okada countered with a small package attempt. Okada and Garica then knocked each other out with a double clothesline.

Okada made it to his feet first and hit a lariat. Garcia ducked the Rainmaker but Okada hit him with a dropkick. Okada went for the Rainmaker again, but Garcia countered with a cradle and locked in the Sharpshooter! Okada crawled to the ropes, but Garcia pulled him back into the center of the ring and leaned all the way back into the Sharpshooter. But Okada hung on, didn’t tap out and the time limit expired. As a result, both Okada and Garcia will get 1 point each in the standings. This was fine but it was fairly obvious they were wrestling to the draw early on.

After the match, Okada offered Garcia a handshake, but then flipped him off instead.

During this match, PAC v. Jay White was announced for Dynamite Wednesday, and Claudio Castagnoli  v. Will Ospreay and Ricochet v. Brody King were announced for the December 11th Winter is Coming.

Now it’s time for Lucha Libre Rampage!

Taped in Reading, PA.

Excalibur, Matt Menard and Ian Riccaboni were on commentary.

Thunder Rosa defeated  Harley-Gram (5:20)

Harley-Gram reminded me: whatever happened to Fuego Dos? Less than two minutes in, Harley removed her mask to reveal her secret identity was Harley Cameron all along! Rosa caught Cameron with a dropkick. Rosa tied up Cameron in the corner and hit her with a shotgun dropkick. Cameron came back with a Russian leg sweep for a near fall. Cameron put her mask back on, but Rosa yanked it back off while they were brawling on the floor. Back in the ring, Rosa finished off Cameron with the package driver.

– Renee Paquette interviewed Mercedes Mone, who is not here to talk about Camille. She’s here to talk about Lucha Libre and her favorite wrestler, Eddie Guerrero. Mone also wants more championship gold.

Atlantis Jr., Máscara Dorada & Katsuyori Shibata defeated Top Flight & Action Andretti (w/ Leila Grey) (11:56)

Wow. This was all kinds of crazy action. Dorado went for a hurricanrana on Andretti, who handspringed out of the move and landed on his feet. Dorado and Atlantis combined for a double-hiptoss into a sit-out powerbomb on Andretti for a near fall. Darius Martin saved Andretti from a back suplex. Then Andretti hit a flipping senton off to Darius’s shoulders for a near fall. Atlantis turned a hurricanrana from Darius into a sunset flip for a near fall. Atlantis hit a crucifix driver for a near fall. Darius came back with a dropkick.

After a split-screen break, Atlantis caught Darius with a cutter, then got the tag to Shibata. Shibata hit Dante with a boot and forearms, then ran in with a diving shotgun dropkick in the corner. A suplex on Datne got a near fall. Dante went for a sunset flip, but Shibata rolled through and floored Dante with a kick. Dorado hit a Fosbury Flop on Andretti. Back in the ring, Shibata had both members of Top Flight tied up in leglocks. Andretti broke it up, and Darius and Andretti hit superkicks on Shibata. But when Shibata fell backwards, it increased the pressure on Dante’s legs, which were still tied up in a leg lock!

Dorado caught Darius with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Dorado hit a 450 splash off the top for a near fall. Dorado went back to the top, but Dante pulled him to the mat. Andretti dropkicked Dorato into a suplex from Darius, and Dante picked him up for his half nelson slam. Andretti went for a brainbuster on Dorado, but Atlantis broke it up. Andretti caught both his opponents with handspring back elbows. Atlantis and Dorado caught Andretti with kicks, and Dorado finished off Andretti with a shooting star press.

– A recap of the Hook/Patricachy feud. This led to an interview with Nick Wayne and Mother Wayne and the announcement that Hook will face Nick Wayne at the Hammerstein Ballroom (unclear which show). Nick wanted to face Hook in his hometown in a venue that Hook’s father made his name. “I’ll see you at home, Hook… or will I?”

The Beast Mortos defeated Serpentico (5:12 aired)

Nobody mentioned Mortos getting dropped on his head two hours ago by Kyle Fletcher. Mortos crushed Serpentico with a pop-up Samoan Drop for a near fall.

After a commercial break (and talk about a match that shouldn’t have gone through a commercial), Serpentico got a near fall after a La Magistral cradle. Mortos gave Sperpencio a pair of backbreakers, then floored him with a lariat and got the pinfall. Most of this match took place in the picture-in-picture window, but I have no idea why a guy in the prestigious Continental Classic is going 5 minutes with a Dark jobber.

– In the back, someone has laid out Kamille.

– Kyle O’Reilly, Luther Reigns & Brian Cage, Mark Edwards, Komander, Adam Cole are the names announced for the Dynamite Dozen Battle Royal. That’s not 12 guys. The winner of the 12 man battle royal gets a shot at MJF and his ring, I would assume at Winter is Coming.

Hechicero defeated Komander (w/ Alex Abrahantes) (13:06)

Hechicero pulled Komander out of the air on a leapfrog attempt, then dropped an elbow on his back. Lots of mat work early on in the match. Hechicero tried to go for a stretch muffler, but Komander climb out of it. Komander went for a tijeras, but Hechicero countered it into  apin attempt. More near misses and reversals from both guys ended with Hechicero getting Komander in trouble against the ropes.

A lot of this match took place in the split-screen window. After the long break, Komander sprung out of the corner with a top rope dropkick. Komander hit a hurricanrana off the top, but Hechicero caught Komander with a sleeper in the ropes. Komander dropkicked Hechicero to the floor. Komander followed him out with a top rope springboard moonsault. Back in the ring, Komander came off the top with a body press, then rolled up Hechicero for two.

Komander hit a spinning DDT. He went for a springboard moonsault, but Hechicero caught him with a armbar. Komander countered the armbar into a pinfall attempt for a near fall. Komander and Hechicero exchanged forearms. Komander countered a suplex attempt with small package. Hechicero caught Komander with a backbreaker and followed up with a charging knee in the corner. Hechicero then brought Komander down with what can best be described as a headscissors driver to get the pinfall.

Final rundown for Dynamite Wednesday: Brody King v. Claudio Castagnoli, Shelton Benjamin v. Kyle Fletcher, Jay White v. PAC, Swerve Strickland v. Max Caster, and the Dynamite Dozen Battle Royal.

This was a fine three out block of professional wrestling.
