AEW Dynamite & Collision live results: Full Gear go-home show

AEW reaches the final stop on the road to Full Gear with a packed three-hour Dynamite and Collision special tonight.

Before defending the AEW World title against Samoa Joe in a steel cage at Full Gear, Hangman Adam Page must first face Katsuyori Shibata on tonight’s episode.

Kenny Omega will return to AEW tonight ahead of his participation in the $1 million trios match at Full Gear.

In a double jeopardy match, Kazuchika Okada will take on CMLL’s Mascara Dorada where the winner gets a shot at the loser’s championship.

Interim ROH Women’s TV Champion Mercedes Mone and ROH Women’s TV Champion Red Velvet will meet in a title unification bout.

The Women’s Tag Team title tournament continues with two quarterfinals matchups — Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa vs. Alex Windsor and Riho, plus Megan Bayne and Marina Shafir vs. Tay Meo and Anna Jay.

A Casino Gauntlet match at Full Gear will determine the first-ever AEW National Champion, and the first two spots in the Gauntlet will be decided in singles matches on tonight’s show. Bobby Lashley faces Ricochet for the number one spot, while Shelton Benjamin takes on Mike Bailey for the number two position.

**********

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Bryan Danielson & Tony Schiavone, running down tonight’s card before throwing it to the ring for the opening contest.

Bobby Lashley (w/MVP) vs. Ricochet (w/G.O.A.) for the #1 Spot in the Casino Gauntlet Match at Full Gear

(Extremely quick opener, with Ricochet’s trash talk lasting longer than the match itself. Lashley, who was probably one of the favorites heading into the Gauntlet, definitely is now more than ever with the #1 spot secured.)

Bell sounds and Ricochet immediately took the mic and said Fly Eagles Fly, running down the crowd and said the only good thing to come from this town is his wife. Ricochet was surprised Ariel Helwani didn’t ask Tony Khan about MVP having dementia and the National Title; you’re looking at the inaugural champ. After Saturday, the fans and bald idiot like Lashley will give him respect he deserves. Nobody will stop Ricochet from fulfilling his quest for gold. Ricochet keeps rambling, Lashley is just standing there with referee Bryce holding him back. Finally, Lashley chokeslammed a squealing Ricochet out of the ring onto G.O.A. and steamrolled them all, including launching Toa Liona over the time keepers table.

Ricochet side stepped a corner charge back inside and got a school boy for two, then fired off a trio of kicks and running Shooting Star/Moonsault combo for two. Ricochet rolled through a top rope Shooting Star Press, pulled Bryce in front of him and allowed him to rake the eyes. Loading up for the Spirit Gun, Ricochet charged, but Lashley caught him with a huge Spinebuster and Speat that turned Ricochet inside out for the pin.

Match Result: Bobby Lashley defeated Ricochet to earn the #1 Spot in the Casino Gauntlet Match at Full Gear

-Samoa Joe is backstage with Katsuyori Shibata and said it must feel good for Hangman Adam Page to be a fighting World Champion. Joe said he was told if he interferes tonight, he’ll lose his AEW World Title match this weekend. Joe said Page’s whole world of joy and happiness is about to get very different quickly. Page is guilty of crimes and transgressions against The Opps and it’ll be at the hands of Shibata, deadly by design, violent by intention. Tonight, Shibata begins Page’s payment and at Full Gear, Joe will fully collect.

-The Young Bucks were backstage watching their highlights of Full Gear past when Renee Paquette approaches and asks if they’re joining the Don Callis Family tonight? Before they can answer, Don Callis walks in and cuts off the gotcha journalism, telling The Bucks to go out and show them why they’re the best team on the planet and they can answer after. Callis will even give them his patented introduction.

The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) & Josh Alexander (w/Don Callis) vs. Sky Flight (Scorpio Sky, Dante & Darius Martin w/Christopher Daniels & Leila Grey)

(The exact party match you’d expect from all involved, as they really ramped up The Bucks ready to turn down The Callis Family offer, but thankfully held off on an official decision with the PPV this weekend. I think we all know where this is going and will look forward to seeing the follow-up once The Bucks make up their minds.)

Despite The Bucks not looking overly enthused, Callis did his over the top intro on the big screen, saying they’re from “Rancho Cuckamonga” before a ton of pyro went off. Nick & Dante had a lighting quick opening sequence that saw each dodge the others springboards, trying a dropkick at the same time, kipping up into a stalemate. Blind tag by Alexander, as Darius tagged in as well, hitting a dropkick flush, as Sky Flight made fast tags with locomotion slingshot sentons until Sky launched Matt over the top with a belly to belly. Nick saved his brother, hitting the slingshot face buster on Sky and moonsault onto Darius. Dante flew in with a dive on Nick, Matt wiped him out, as Sky was about to tease a dive, but was cut off by Alexander, who hit his flying cross body off the apron.

Back from commercial, Alexander stole another tag, as tensions started, with Alexander pie facing Matt, who was upset about the tag. Darius caught Alexander with a Spanish Fly and took out The Bucks with a dive. Blind tag by Dante, as Alexander was placed in the corner and was dropped with an incredible Nose Dive/Powerbomb combo. The Bucks made the save with a Superkick Party, taking everyone out in their path. They wanted a BTE Trigger, but Dante flipped up and The Bucks collided. Dante cleared the top with a massive dive on The Bucks and hit Alexander with a top rope cross body for close two that the fans bit at. Alexander countered a sunset flip into an Ankle Lock, but Dante rolled out. Dante tried vaulting over in the corner, but Alexander cut him off and sent Dante back in for The Bucks to hit a Meltzer Driver. Alexander then shoved The Bucks out of the way so he could apply the Ankle Lock and get the submission win.

Don Callis entered the ring in the post-match, along with Mark Davis, Hechicero & Rocky Romero and said now they can announce they’re joining the Don Callis Family. The Bucks were reluctant and Callis reminded them the money has been flowing now that Callis has been looking after them in recent weeks and demanded they announce it. Callis started getting agitated and said AEW can be a very dangerous place and The Bucks walking around without a Family could result in something very bad to happen. Callis would hate to see what happened to Kenny Omega happen to The Bucks. Matt & Nick slowly turned at Callis until the music for Kenny Omega hit.

Omega came out with a chair and he took out Romero & Davis on the aisle before hitting the ring and tackling Alexander. The Bucks pulled Omega off, as he shoved them and the distraction was enough for Alexander to pick the ankle and get the Ankle Lock. Callis ordered Alexander to let him go, as The Bucks don’t have to announce they’re joining The Family, show it by giving Omega a BTE Trigger. Callis kicks Omega, as The Bucks slowly look like they’re going to do it when Jurassic Express makes the save, clearing the ring, Jack Perry had a shovel & Luchasaurus had a vacuum cleaner, which was a hilarious visual. Alexander had his arms around The Bucks, who look as conflicted as ever.

Match Result: The Young Bucks & Josh Alexander defeated Sky Flight when Alexander submitted Dante

-Renee Paquette is backstage with The Babes of Wrath who brought up The Sisters of Sin in the second round of the Women’s Tag Team Titles Tournament. Cameron said they’re fun, excitable, bodacious and people might not take them seriously, but ask Athena & Mercedes Mone. They will be the first ever Women’s Tag Champions. They chest bumped and headed out of the shot.

-Back at commentary, Tony Schiavone remembered the legendary announcer Bob Caudle, saying being able to stand beside him was one of the highlights of his life. They give their best wishes to the family and said if ever was there a wrestling Hall of Fame for announcers, Bob Caudle should be the first inducted. A graphic showed, as this was a very nice tribute.

Shelton Benjamin (w/MVP) vs. Speedball Mike Bailey for the #2 Spot in the Casino Gauntlet Match at Full Gear

(Aside from the botched finish, which I don’t know if Bailey just forgot to kick out, which, if so, Paul Turner should’ve counted three, it zapped the fans otherwise loud energy going most of the match and made it a flat finish. Up until that point, these two had a great match, as I’d say this was one of Benjamin’s stronger showings, while Bailey remains one of the best on the roster. With this win, The Hurt Syndicate enter 1 & 2 at the Casino Gauntlet.)

Since he’s not getting a chance to fight for spot 1 or 2 in the Gauntlet, I would just like to recognize the snazzy Tiger Mask sweater that Kevin Knight was wearing when he made the entrance with Bailey before heading to the back. Benjamin & Bailey shook hands before the bell, as the fans are loudly doing dueling chants with Bailey firing off corner kicks until Benjamin just chucked him to the floor. Both men miss charges and run into the post, until Benjamin starts throwing Bailey from apron to barricade. Excalibur did inform us the Continental Classic will begin next week. Back inside, Bailey dropkicked out the leg and applied a rolling arm bar. Benjamin escaped into an Ankle Lock, but Bailey rolled out, low bridged Benjamin, tried a running plancha, but Benjamin caught and slammed Bailey to the floor.

Back from break, MVP said his one issue with Benjamin is that they’ve talked about him not being a closer, he’s like a lion who likes to play with his food. MVP screams at Benjamin to stop playing around and end this. Bailey battled back with a series of kicks and running Shooting Star for one. Benjamin slowly starts to rise, as Bailey quickly went back to the arm bar, as Benjamin high stacked and both tumbled over the top. Benjamin tried a powerbomb, but Bailey countered into a hurricanrana into the barricade and DDT to follow. Benjamin just broke the count at 9, but rolled right into a Bailey thrust kick. Shooting Star Press landed perfectly for Bailey, but only got a near fall.

Moonsault double knees crunched Benjamin, as Bailey went back to the arm bar a third time. Benjamin again powered out and just launched Bailey in the air. Bailey side-stepped a corner charge and got a school boy for two, but Benjamin got up and destroyed Bailey with a thrust kick. Benjamin got a visual three, Bailey didn’t kick out, but referee Paul Turner pulled the count. MVP thought it was over, as he got in the ring, but was told to leave. Benjamin hit a German Suplex and another thrust kick and got the pin.

Match Result: Shelton Benjamin defeated Speedball Mike Bailey to earn the #2 Spot in the Casino Gauntlet Match at Full Gear

Death Riders (Jon Moxley & Claudio Castagnoli w/Daniel Garcia & Marina Shafir) vs. Orange Cassidy & Roderick Strong

(Real fun tag match, as they’re at the point of this story where anyone can apply a submission to Moxley, the fans are going to bite that he just might tap out. It was a bounce back win for the Death Riders, as commentary put over how it was likely Castagnoli’s uppercut that did the main damage to lead to Moxley picking up the pieces for the win. Post-match, O’Reilly made the challenge for the PPV and if Moxley wins, they really need to follow-up strong on O’Reilly after Blood and Guts and not go 50/50 with Moxley getting his win back. If ever there was a time to go all in with O’Reilly, now is the time.)

Strong still rocking that Paragon gear/tron, as even after last week’s Blood and Guts, he’s still reluctant to join The Conglomeration. Bell sounds and Cassidy charged at Moxley and brawled with him ringside, as Strong & Castagnoli began the match in the ring before also spilling outside. Excalibur said Darby Allin suffered second degree burns from last week at the hands of PAC and that flaming table. Cassidy put his hands in his pockets and tried a double dropkick, but was caught, as Moxley & Castagnoli did a wish bone. Strong tried an Angle Slam on Castagnoli, but Moxley chop blocked the leg. Cassidy made the save with a spinning DDT on Moxley, as he made a blind tag, tried a top rope cross body, but was caught by Castagnoli. Cassidy countered into a Stundog Millionaire, tried a follow-up dive, but Castagnoli caught him in mid-air and planted him onto the barricade. Strong flew in with a pump knee, sending Castagnoli over the barricade, Moxley hit a running boot sending Strong over as well, until Cassidy, hands in pockets, did a trust fall off the barricade onto Moxley & Castagnoli.

Back from break, Moxley had Cassidy in a Full Nelson before Castagnoli tagged in and rattled off machine gun uppercuts. Cassidy remained isolated, as Castagnoli hit an abbreviated Giant Swing, as Danielson wondered if his back was still bothering him from Blood and Guts. Cassidy battled back with a leaping DDT out of the corner for the double down, as Strong & Moxley tagged in with Strong a house of fire, locking Moxley in a Strong Hold, which got the crowd really into it. Garcia distracted long enough for Moxley to recover into a Paradigm Shift, but Cassidy made the save. Castagnoli launched Cassidy outside, tried a Doomsday Device on Strong, but Moxley was crotched and Castagnoli planted with an Angle Slam. Strong hit a big time superplex on Moxley until Cassidy tagged himself in and popped Garcia off the apron with an Orange Punch and one to Moxley as well. Wheeler Yuta appeared on the apron and the chase was on by Cassidy, who slid back into the ring into a Castagnoli pop-up uppercut, with Moxley quickly applying a Bulldog Choke for the referee stoppage, as Cassidy passed out.

Post-match, the beat down continued on Cassidy until Kyle O’Reilly hit the ring and quickly got an Ankle Lock on Moxley, who frantically tapped out. Yuta put the boots to O’Reilly, but he wouldn’t break the hold. Referees pleaded with O’Reilly to release the hold, as Strong & Cassidy held off Garcia, Yuta & Castagnoli until they managed to pull a screaming Moxley to safety. O’Reilly took the mic and demanded a No Holds Barred Match with Moxley at Full Gear. Just like at Blood and Guts, the history books will say Moxley tapped out. O’Reilly looked like an absolute killer here.

Match Result: Death Riders defeated Orange Cassidy & Roderick Strong when Moxley submitted Cassidy

-Brodido cut a promo on FTR and said they’re one of the best teams in AEW history, but they have never beaten them. Brodido never stops fighting and they’ll remain Tag Team Champions when Full Gear is over.

-Mercedes Mone was walking backstage holding the TBS & Interim ROH Women’s TV Titles

**********

-Kenny Omega & Jurassic Express are backstage and talked about how they say that money can’t buy friendship, but The Bucks have proved him wrong before. Once Josh Alexander took his frustrations out on Michael Nakazawa, then it became personal (I personally would’ve thought it was the Ibushi injury). No amount of money will save them from what they do to them at Full Gear. Omega hit his go home line, as Perry walked away holding the shovel, while Luchasaurus didn’t have his vacuum.

The Timeless Love Bombs (Timeless Toni Storm & Mina Shirakawa) vs. Alex Windsor & Riho in an AEW Women’s Tag Team Title Tournament Quarterfinal

(I know we’re only 3 matches into the tournament so far, but I think this was the best so far. Storm & Shirakawa have such great chemistry, that’d it’d be pretty insane for them not to win the titles. I’m not sure if Riho & Windsor remain a duo, if not, they worked very well for being just thrown together a few weeks ago.)

New theme music, black and white similar attire, matching hats and dusters for The Love Bombs, who strutted to the ring in unison.  Fast start by Shirakawa & Riho, who trade early pin attempts and takedowns before having a stalemate. Storm & former running buddy Windsor tag in and we get a test of strength. Windsor broke free and popped Storm in the throat with a forearm, as Riho tagged in and she was used as a projectile as an assisted hurricanrana sent Storm to the corner. Riho tried a head scissors on Storm, but was flattened, allowing Shirakawa to tag in and hit a twisting Tornillo from the apron for two. Blind tag from Windsor, who hit a Stun Gun on Shirakawa, as Storm tried to make the save, but took a double suplex for her troubles. Riho scaled the ropes with the help from Windsor and took out The Love Bombs with a huge cross body outside as things went to commercial.

Back from break, Shirakawa did an impressive DDT/leg breaker combo on Riho & Windsor before tagging in Storm, who dished out hair mares aplenty to Windsor, following up with a DDT of her own for a near fall. Tandem Tornillo, as Shirakawa got a near fall on Windsor before stomping down on the knees, trying a Figure Four, but Windsor fought it off. Shirakawa charged in, but was flattened with a Blue Thunder Bomb. Cazadora/Lariat/Double Stomp combo by Riho & Windsor, but Storm broke the count. Windsor dropped Storm outside with a cannonball off the apron, as Riho missed a double stomp back inside, allowing Shirakawa to hit a spinning backfist and sank in the Figure Four. Storm & Windsor took turns turning the submission in their partners favor until firing off dueling headbutts onto one another, collapsing on Shirakawa & Riho, breaking the submission. Storm & Windsor tag back in legally, as Windsor hit a lariat, leg sweep and attempted a Sharpshooter, but Storm escaped. High kick/Germans by both Storm & Shirakawa, who followed with stereo Sweet Cheek Music as Storm spiked Windsor with Storm Zero for the win.

Match Result: The Timeless Love Bombs defeated Alex Windsor & Riho to advance in the AEW Women’s Tag Team Title Tournament when Storm pinned Windsor

-Renee Paquette’s voice is heard saying she received breaking news from Tony Khan that the Semi-Finals teams will meet in a 4-Way match at Full Gear. The winners will choose the stipulation for their tournament match.

-Alicia Atout is backstage with Kyle Fletcher, Don Callis & Mark Briscoe, who have agreed to no physicality and asked why such high stakes for their PPV match (seriously, that was the question). Fletcher said this way there’s a clear winner and loser, no excuses and Briscoe will thank them for joining the Family, Fletcher can’t wait to see how he’ll thrive under a real family. Briscoe told him not to talk to him about family, as every time he steps in the ring, it’s for his family and also his road family, which he won Blood and Guts with last week, having no intention leaving that behind. Failure is not an option, as Briscoe won’t be letting his family down, he’ll be making them proud. Kazuchika Okada & Hechicero attacked Briscoe from behind, as Callis said he’s going to make Briscoe’s kids orphans. Fletcher thanked Okada to not agreeing to no physicality and Okada said he’s glad he could help, how Takeshita couldn’t. Okada name dropped Prot-Okada with a big smile on his face before leaving.

**********

-PAC cut a promo on Darby Allin saying he deserved an apology, as he promised he would break Allin’s neck, instead sending his charred corpse to the hospital. No one has heard from Allin since and it’s because he’s scared. Maybe PAC took things too far at Blood and Guts, but if Allin, the boy that never quits, has a backbone, he’ll face him in a wrestling match, no weapons, bells or whistles. Without those, there’s no way someone like Allin could compete with a legitimate athlete like him.

AEW Men’s World Champion Hangman Adam Page vs. AEW Trios Champion Katsuyori Shibata

(One last measure of revenge by Page heading into Full Gear, as I can’t say enough how great of a heel Joe was on commentary tonight, constantly annoyed by everyone, wanting nothing but revenge on Page on his quest for another AEW World Title reign. This was another strong showing from Page.)

Samoa Joe strolled to the commentary table and told Schiavone, the slippery little piggy, to stay right there. Joe politely said hello to Excalibur and his old friend Danielson, who asked if he’s going to hurt his friend Tony, but Joe said he’s not out here for violence. Page rushed Shibata from the crowd during his entrance, as Joe went from 0-100, growling at Page, who launched Shibata over the time keepers table next to Joe, slamming Shibata’s head on the announce desk.

Match officially begins, as Page turned his attention to Joe long enough for Shibata to hit a running boot on the apron, slamming Page against the barricade repeatedly before setting him up on a chair. Page exploded out and dropped Shibata, as Joe is losing his mind on Schiavone saying the only sneaky person around AEW is him. Back inside, Shibata targets the taped-up neck of Page, who responded with a backbreaker/lariat combo for two. Danielson asked Joe if he’s amped up due to losing to Page last month, but Joe said it’s due to stupid questions he’s being asked. Page again was distracted by Joe, allowing Shibata to hit a snap suplex on the outside, controlling the match into commercial.

Back from break, we get a chop battle, with Page winning, following up with a series of clotheslines, including a springboard. Page wanted Dead Eye, but Shibata fought free, tried a PK, only Page caught it. Shibata again countered Dead Eye, this time with his running corner boots. Shibata hit a Shattered Dreams, but instead of being DQ’d, told referee Paul Turner it was against the thigh (not the best night for Turner). Page rolled through a German, Shibata sent him into Turner, giving Shibata a chance to hit a low blow and sink in a cross-arm breaker, as Joe said the low blow was a legal grappling move. Shibata went to the Ankle Lock, but Page rolled through, leaving Shibata holding Page’s boot. Page fired off one lariat, his boot went flying in the air, which he caught, then hit a Buckshot for the win.

Match Result: Hangman Adam Page defeated Katsuyori Shibata

Dynamite officially ends and Collision begins, as Page hit a low blow receipt on Shibata before staring down Joe telling him to look around, although Joe might be surrounded by thousands of crazy ass fans tonight, he’s now alone. When Joe walks into the Steel Cage at Full Gear, Page wants him to remember Joe doesn’t have Hobbs or Shibata with him, he wants Joe to remember what Page did the last time he was locked in a Cage with another man (Swerve Strickland at All Out 2024) and swears he has no problem doing it again.

-FTR & Stokely are backstage and said 11 years ago FTR formed and asked if anything Brodido has accomplished be remembered years later like FTR matches have been? Wheeler said Full Gear, they’re closing the book on the feel-good story of the year. Harwood said they keep having greatest tag matches of all time and said this title reign will be what they hold their legacy on. Brodido are unfortunately in the way, as FTR will go down as the best of all time, as they hope Bandido’s abuela comes to say hello. Top guys, out.

Megan Bayne & Marina Shafir (w/Penelope Ford) vs. TayJay (Tay Melo & Anna Jay) in an AEW Women’s Tag Team Title Tournament Quarterfinal

(The second half of the match was better than the first, as Jay especially looked good in her comeback. After what happened especially at Blood and Guts, there was simply no way Bayne & Shafir were losing this one, as they’ve been on a collision course with The Love Bombs for weeks now.)

Shafir & Melo trade Judo throws to start before switching to forearms, which Shafir absorbed initially, so Melo put more behind them and hit a double suplex with Jay. Bayne tried to run through them with a double clothesline, but was sent outside. TayJay keep the fight going on the floor, as Bayne was sent into the steps, while Shafir into the barricade. Jay & Melo both climbed the barricade and hit double dives. Back inside, Bayne made the tag and mowed both ladies down, as Jay & Melo were lit up with strikes while trapped in the ropes into commercial.

Jay was worked over the entire break, but things return to Melo making the hot tag. That tag lasted literally 20 seconds before she tagged Jay back in. Locomotion charging corner kicks, as Bayne & Shafir were ultimately spiked with double DDTs. Double guillotines applied, but Bayne & Shafir easily powered out. Shafir was sent outside, as Bayne was flattened with a Flatliner and rolling neckbreaker for two. Bayne fought off a Gory Bomb, but Jay managed the Queen Slayer, only Bayne fell back to her own corner. Shafir made the tag and got a quick takedown into Mother’s Milk, putting Jay to sleep.

Post-match, The Timeless Love Bombs appeared on the big screen, with Storm saying they pitched their show to God and he ordered the entire box set. This weekend they won’t stop until they wear Bayne & Shafir’s skulls a pearl necklace. If they win the match, they could pick any stipulation like apartment wrestling or a Taipei Death Match. Once Jon Moxley sees what they do to his little women, he’ll piss himself with blood.

Match Result: Megan Bayne & Marina Shafir defeated TayJay to advance in the AEW Women’s Tag Team Title Tournament when Shafir submitted Jay

-Video package on Kris Statlander and her focusing on preparing for Mercedes Mone at Full Gear.

**********

-Bang Bang Gang talk about the 4-Way $200,000 Tag Match on Tailgate Brawl. Juice Robinson said they’ll be pigs in sh*t who will be rich, as he’s focused on helping Austin Gunn save for the future.

AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada (w/Don Callis & Hechicero) vs. CMLL Trios Champion Mascara Dorada in a Double Jeopardy Match

(There were many spots in this match that both were just on different pages, especially Dorada, who damn near crippled himself on multiple occasions, the top rope hurricanrana/powerbomb spot most notably. Sometimes you have an off night and things don’t click like you’d hope. I have no doubt in my mind they can get it back with the Trios Match on Saturday. I loved the post-match and the visual heartbreak Okada had learning he would be forced to team yet again with Takeshita.)

If Okada wins, The Don Callis Family will get a future CMLL Trios Title match, while if Dorada wins, he’ll receive a future Continental Title match. Danielson said if Dorada wins this, he should also be in the Continental Classic, which Callis quickly shot down. Crazy looking double springboard by Dorada into an arm drag, forcing Okada to take a powder, as the fans chant B*tch. Okada suckered Dorada to chase after him, resulting in Okada slamming him into the barricade. Okada mocks the crowd clapping for a dive, but Dorada met him with a springboard arm drag and huge follow-up Tope Suicida. Back inside, Okada caught Dorada with a dropkick out of the corner, sending him crashing outside into commercial.

Back from break, Okada missed a corner charge, ate an enzugiri on the apron, allowing Dorada to spring to the top and hit just enough of a diving DDT on the edge of the ring. Cazadora into a monkey flip, as Dorada hit a rewind springboard hurricanarana and wild Tornillo clearing the top to the floor. Okada sent hard into the barricade, as Dorada hurdled the barricade with a Cutter, hanging Okada up throat first. Back inside, Dorada crashed and burned badly off a missed 450 Splash, giving Okada a chance to hit the Air Raid Crash neckbreaker. Top rope elbow by Okada led to the Rainmaker middle finger pose, but Dorada fought off the move itself, only to run into an Okada dropkick flush. Dorada flipped out of a Rainmaker into a flash roll-up, but only got two. Kick in the corner, as Dorada slammed Okada down and hit the 450 Splash this time for a close two. Both fight up the ropes, as Dorada tried a super hurricanrana, but Okada tried a powerbomb, only for Dorada to land right on his head. Okada hit almost a Raging Fire variation and a Rainmaker to win it.

Callis got on the mic post-match and said they are cashing in their Trios Title Match against Sky Team at the Tailgate Brawl. It will be the All-Star team of Okada, Hechicero & returning Konosuke Takeshita, which did not please Okada in the slightest. I can’t believe a match like that is on the pre-show, but it is and I’m sure will be quite the showdown.

Match Result: Kazuchika Okada defeated Mascara Dorada to earn The Don Callis Family a future CMLL Trios Title Match

-Renee Paquette is backstage with the Sisters of Sin and deserves a metal for bouncing back and forth between lines from Hart & Blue. Thekla walks in and said if you thought Blood and Guts was sick, The Babes of Wrath are in for some Toxic sh*t in the semi-finals

Kris Statlander made her way to the commentary table before tonight’s main event.

ROH Women’s TV Champion Red Velvet vs. ROH Interim Women’s TV Champion Mercedes Mone in a Title Unification Match

(The match itself, I thought was a good main event. For Velvet being out of action for months, I thought she held her own and managed to land and take some scary bumps down the stretch. Now, the post-match confused the hell out of me. I know we’re in Boston and Mone is going to be loved, but Statlander looked like a complete goof, not only tapping out to Mone, but got right up from it and just walked to the back when Aubrey told her to. It was an odd final moment heading into what should be a high-profile match at Full Gear.)

ROH announcer Bobby Cruise doing introductions, as Mone was out with a bunch of muscle men holding up her ever-growing title collections, while Velvet had pyro in her first match back on AEW TV since Battle of the Belts 10 back in April of 2024. Both trade early takedowns and poses, as once Mone did her CEO dance, it allowed Velvet to fire off a leg lariat before putting the boots to Mone in the corner. Velvet missed a charge in the ropes, letting Mone hit a running dropkick to the outside. Meteora off the apron, as Mone grabs both titles and holds them up in front of Statlander & Velvet. Statlander said the crowd is cheering for Mone because Boston is her backyard, but Saturday will be Statlanders. Mone threw Velvet into Statlander, causing her to crash to the floor. Referee Aubrey went to tell Statlander to get off the apron, as Mone was going to use a title on Velvet, who bumped and Aubrey turned to see Mone with the title. The Eddie Guerrero spot led to Velvet being in control heading into break.

Back from break at the top of the hour, Velvet hit a Cazadora Bulldog to regain control and double knees into the corner. Velvet wound up for the KO punch, but Mone had is scouted into the Statement Maker. Velvet rolled into a cover for two, then scrambled for a reverse short arm scissors, but Mone got the ropes. Velvet went for a roundhouse kick, but Mone caught it and threw a knee lift. Velvet dodged a corner double knee and dropped Mone on her head with a release German. Roundhouse kick just hit enough, but Mone kicked out. Velvet applied the Octopus Hold, but Mone countered with a lungblower. Both fight up in the corner, where Velvet hit a wheelbarrow victory roll, but the impact caused both women to be down.

Mone tried another lungblower, but Velvet countered into a head scissors. Both got back up the ropes, this time with Mone hitting an Avalanche Lungblower to win the match and title. Mone immediately climbed atop the commentary table and held up the titles before throwing them at Statlander and hitting a Meteora off the table. Applying the Statement Maker, Mone screamed that Statlander (who Danielson told us was tapping) title will be hers at Full Gear. The show ended with Mone standing atop the table, as Statlander just miraculously popped up apparently and carried Velvet to the back, which was incredibly weird considering she just tapped out to Mone.

Match Result: Mercedes Mone defeated Red Velvet to unify the ROH Women’s TV & Interim TV Titles

The special 3-hour edition of AEW Dynamite & Collision comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone & Bryan Danielson before running down tonight’s card.

Kris Statlander & Timeless Toni Storm’s Famous Last Words

Renee Paquette is backstage with AEW Women’s Champion Kris Statlander & Timeless Toni Storm for their Famous Last Words. Statlander & Storm start trying to one-up each other by taking off items of clothes, which frustrates Paquette so much she takes her jacket off and slams it to the ground.

Storm said when she lost the title, she thought she’d feel free, but ultimately felt nothing, her canvas went blank. Storm is the AEW Women’s Title, doing with that title what no other woman has been able to do. If Statlander is her murderer, so be it, Storm doesn’t know who she is without the title, but questions who Statlander is altogether.

Statlander told Storm she’s never able to figure out Statlander, as she is always evolving. She’s already different than who Storm saw at All Out, as they’re living in this world that Statlander is the champion of. A person who will live longer than her doubters and deserving of this prestige, she’ll give Storm the send-off she has dreamed of. Storm said pro wrestling is the lie that reveals the truth and at WrestleDream, they’ll find out the truth. Statlander said the truth is what Storm will have to accept. Both ladies stood up, Paquette tried to intervene, but both ladies asked if this interview is over, Paquette said yes, so Storm said for Statlander to meet her in the ring.

Both ladies power walked to the ring right behind one another and started slugging it out, as Storm hit a Thesz Press, but Statlander responded with an Angle Slam. Storm threw Statlander the AEW Women’s Title and gave her a free shot, but Statlander didn’t take it, allowing Storm to fire off a headbutt and release German Suplex. Statlander then tried handing the title to Storm for a free shot, but Storm also couldn’t pull the trigger, instead placing the title on Statlander’s shoulder and giving her a kiss on the forehead before walking away. This was the most civil and respectful brawl you’ll ever see in professional wrestling.

-Jurassic Express are backstage with Jack Perry carving something out of wood with his knife, saying he doesn’t hate The Young Bucks, he loves them, always grateful for what they did for him. But when he needed them the most, they didn’t pick up the phone or have his back, so he had to look into his past that would. Luchasaurus walks in and growls.

The Hurt Syndicate (Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin w/MVP) vs. G.O.A. (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona w/Ricochet)

(Another chapter in this story, as the most notable piece of news is that Lashley & Benjamin suffered their first loss as a tag team in AEW. Feels like this could’ve been made a bigger deal with how long they’ve been in AEW, but it was just a quick note before their next match at the PPV. The match itself was solid, as Benjamin & Kaun and especially Lashley & Liona have good chemistry with each other.)

Benjamin & Kaun slugged it out at the bell, with Benjamin no selling early, floating over Kaun and trying a bulldog choke, but settling for a big boot. Lashley tagged in with a stalling vertical suplex before driving shoulders into the midsection. Kaun managed to make the tag, but Liona was instantly clotheslined over the top by Lashley. Ricochet took the ref, allowing Kaun to get a low blow using the ropes, as Liona hit a Samoan Drop off the apron with things going to commercial.

Lashley was worked over during the entire break, but finally was able to hit an overhead belly to belly on Liona to cause a reset. Benjamin made the hot tag and ran wild with corner splashes and wheel kicks on Kaun, as Ricochet saved Kaun from a pump knee, only eating one himself for his troubles. Kaun was taken to Suplex City until Liona tried to make the save, but Benjamin responded with a Pendulum DDT, which Liona no sold. The match broke down, as Lashley & Liona both got heads of steam and collided like two trains right at the commentary table. Benjamin hit a belly to belly throw off the top on Kaun, as somehow referee Bryce had MVP’s cane and went to give it back to him, allowing Ricochet to hit Benjamin with The Spirit Gun. MVP cracked Ricochet with the cane ringside, but Kaun crawled over and got the pin on Benjamin to win the match. Commentary talked about how this was The Hurt Syndicate’s first pinfall loss as a tag team in AEW (I guess MVP took the pin in the Trios match at All Out).

Match Result: G.O.A. defeated The Hurt Syndicate when Kaun pinned Benjamin

Jon Moxley & Darby Allin’s Final Face-to-Face

Footage of Darby Allin attacking Jon Moxley at New York Comic Con was shown before cutting to Allin earlier today at an undisclosed location. It was almost like a jail cell, as Jon Moxley walked in on the other side of the glass, (this gave off Batman & Joker vibes) saying to make sure the implications of an I Quit Match. In Toronto, there was zero chance Allin would ever put Moxley into a Coffin, the game was rigged. This I Quit is rigged in both directions, as Moxley knows neither of them will quit, so questions what Allin wants to do, he’s out of ideas. If Allin wants to be on the right side of history, it’s never too late. Allin said he wishes he could, but he can’t, he understands the cause, not a day goes by he doesn’t think about joining the Death Riders, but he doesn’t respect Moxley after what he did to Bryan Danielson. Why would he go to war with someone who would stab his brother in the back? Moxley said he did the best he could for Danielson, as this is a war for the future of the sport, their craft, sacrifices needed to be made, which was tough for Moxley. Allin doesn’t know what sacrifice is.

Allin said when he was at the summit of Mt. Everest, raising the AEW flag, he looked down and saw Moxley chipping away at what makes AEW so special. Allin will hang that flag in his house so he’s reminded every day at what AEW gives him, but before then, he’ll wrap that flag around Moxley’s throat. The entire operation will come crumbling down. Moxley said it might not mean much to Allin, but he’s never lied to him. Regardless of what Allin tries to do to harm himself, he’s just fighting ghosts, chasing highs, trying to prove to the world he’s indestructible, which is a selfish game. Biggest difference between the two is this isn’t about Moxley. PAC then appears behind Allin and slams him repeatedly into the wall and against the glass, bloodied. Allin slowly collapses into a bloody heap with PAC standing over him as Moxley leaves his side of the room. I loved the way this was shot, an amazing go home segment for the I Quit Match this Saturday, as Moxley, Marina Shafir & PAC were then shown walking into the arena.

Claudio Castagnoli vs. Roderick Strong

(Win number 100 for Castagnoli in AEW, as these two former PWG Champions beat the living hell out of one another. A hard-hitting battle that I wish went longer.)

Before the match got going, Excalibur wished Taz get well wishes as he had shoulder surgery today. Strong & Castagnoli exchanged chops and forearms immediately, before Castagnoli kept Strong grounded. Trying to break free and create some distance, Strong went to the apron, where he fought off a suplex attempt, cracked Castagnoli in the head with an enzugiri before dropping the bottom out with a backbreaker on the apron. Strong tried a baseball slide, but Casatagnoli caught him in mid-air with a Giant Swing into the barricade.

Strong finally fought back when things returned from commercial with a dropkick to create a reset. Trying to ramp up locomotion forearms, Castagnoli put a halt to that momentum, turning Strong inside out with a lariat before sinking in a Crossface, but Strong got a rope break. Big time slam from Castagnoli, who wanted a proper Giant Swing, but Strong kicked free with a leg lariat. Castagnoli missed a boot, crotching himself over the top rope, allowing Strong to charge in with a running boot to the floor. Backbreaker onto the LED board before heading back to the ring. Castagnoli blocked a running knee, brought Strong to the corner, wanted a gut-wrench superplex, but Strong slipped out and hit a super backbreaker on the top turnbuckle. Strong up first, who charged for a running knee, but Castagnoli caught him in the air into a pop-up uppercut for the flash pin.

Match Result: Claudio Castagnoli defeated Roderick Strong

-A few days ago, Don Callis celebrated his birthday with his Family (no El Clon, Andrade or Mark Davis), as they sang ‘For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow’ for him. Konosuke Takeshita was revealed on the TV to record a birthday message for Callis saying Don has done so much for his career and now, he’ll win the IWGP Title for Don and the Family and hopes he can make him proud. The video cuts out, as Okada was the one to turn it off saying he pressed the wrong button, he’s so sorry. We then see footage of Takeshita (accompanied by Rocky Romero) winning the IWGP Title against Zack Sabre Jr in a classic of a match at King of Pro Wrestling, making good on his promise.

Kenny Omega & Jurassic Express (Jungle Jack Perry & Luchasaurus) vs. The Don Callis Family (Hechicero, Josh Alexander & Mark Davis w/Don Callis)

(Action packed party match, as they’re telling the story of Omega reluctantly trusting Perry very well. The post-match, for another week, teased Omega at least interacting with The Young Bucks, so we’ll see where that goes. I wonder how much plans for Omega will have to pivot now that Ibushi is unfortunately injured. As of this very moment, Omega isn’t on the WrestleDream card, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that changes.)

Callis introduced Davis saying “the dingo didn’t eat your baby, Mark Davis did”, put over Alexander for breaking Kota Ibushi’s leg on Collision before doing his over-the-top Hechicero intro. Callis told commentary he sent a note to Ibushi that in 5 years when he recovers, there’s a spot for him in the Don Callis Family.

Omega wanted Alexander, who bolted instantly, having Hechicero start for his team. A drop toe hold from Hechciero, but Omega went back the other way and screamed in pain immediately, as Hechciero zoned in on the left leg. Omega battled back and took out Hechicero with a slingshot dive, as Alexander scurried away, as you could also hear Callis scramble at just the sight of Omega near him. With Omega distracted, Hechciero & Davis got in a cheap shot to keep him isolated. Omega was finally able to break free and almost reluctantly tagged Perry, who made quick tags with Luchasaurus, launching off his back with a rolling senton. Davis tagged in and immediately launched Perry to the outside with a shoulder block as things went to commercial.

We return to the match breaking down ringside, as Perry was trapped in an Alexander ankle lock, as Omega was left pondering whether to make the tag. He finally does, as that’s his path to getting his hands on Alexander, who ate a series of sledgehammers until You Can’t Escape hit, but Alexander was out at two. Callis said this is shades of the Omega of old, which Schiavone said was when Callis disregarded of Omega and asked if Callis had a screwdriver in his pocket, but Excalibur was hilariously right on it, saying no, Callis was just happy to see him. Alexander scrambled out of a Snap Dragon into rolling Germans of his own, but Omega was able to hit a V-Trigger. Luchasaurus & Davis tagged in, as the two big men collided, until Hechciero was in and dropped Perry with a Mad Scientist Bomb. V-Trigger from Omega on Hechicero, Davis was in to drop Omega, leaving Luchasaurus to pop Davis with a huge headbutt. Right in position, Omega wanted a V-Trigger, but Callis jumped on the apron for distraction, allowing Alexander to drape Omega throat first on the top rope. Davis signaled for the home run lariat, but Perry shoved Omega out of the way and took the bullet.

Davis cracked Omega with an enzugiri and snap piledriver, but Omega just narrowly kicked out. Hechicero quickly in to apply the cross arm-breaker, but Luchasaurus grabbed Alexander and choke slammed him onto Hechicero. Perry tagged in, as Luchasaurus placed Hechicero on his shoulders, as Jurassic Express hit the Doomsday Device to win it.

Post-match, The Young Bucks hit the ring and laid out Luchasaurus & Perry with superkicks, leaving Omega stunned ringside. The Bucks wanted a TK Driver, but Omega put a stop to it, getting into Matt & Nick’s faces, until Luchasaurus mowed them down with a clothesline. Perry used his partner to walk the top rope and hit a huge moonsault onto The Bucks & Callis Family, as Jurassic Express stood tall on the aisle, while a frustrated Omega was left along in the ring.

Match Result: Kenny Omega & Jurassic Express defeated The Don Callis Family when Perry pinned Hechicero

Jamie Hayter vs. Skye Blue (w/Julia Hart)

(I thought this was a solid back and forth match, with Blue getting in plenty of offense, but Danielson on commentary said this wasn’t about winning for Blue, more so softening Hayter up for Thekla this Saturday. Hayter looked really good in this and I’m really looking forward to her match with Thekla, as each woman could use the PPV win. This could also continue to plant seeds for the Blood & Guts match that Hayter called for a few weeks back.)

Commentary surprised that with all the bad blood between Hayter & the Triangle of Madness, that we got each trading hammerlocks to start. Both then opted to go for hair pulls until Hayter mowed Blue down with shoulder tackles. Hayter delivered 10 corner punches, as Blue went outside, where Hart checked on her teammate. Hayter went out after, got into Hart’s face, allowing Blue to deliver a thrust kick and roll of the dice off the apron to control into the break.

Blue took Hayter to the corner when things returned, but Hayter headbutt her way free and hit a missile dropkick. Backdrop suplex followed for a near fall, as Blue ate a big boot, but again, kicked out. Blue side-stepped an enzugiri into a stunner, but missed a charging knee, rolled through Hayt-breaker, as each lady threw some wild shots until Hayt-breaker connected successfully into the double down.

Blue dragged Hayter to the floor, as she leapt off the apron, but was caught with a Hayter fall away slam, as you could hear the thud. Back inside, Hayter hit a fireman’s carry neckbreaker and sliding lariat, but Blue was out at two. Hayter signaled for the end, but Blue hit a desperation Sliced Bread for a near fall of her own. Blue wanted Code Blue, but Hayter waffled her with a lariat, then a Hayter-ade proper for the victory.

Post-match, Hart helped Blue up the aisle, as Hayter celebrated until Thekla was shown on the tron applauding herself. Thekla has been around the world and she’s not impressed with Hayter, as the reason she attacked her back in May was because she was just there. Thekla’s name means chaos, poison and Saturday will get toxic to the core and asks Hayter to impress her.

Match Result: Jamie Hayter defeated Skye Blue

-Renee Paquette is backstage with “Ultimo Mone” Mercedes Mone, as Paquette put over Mone winning another title in Denmark for her 10th title. Paquette wants to talk WrestleDream, but Mone wants to talk about wrestling in Mexico against Persephone this Friday, where she’ll be the longest reigning TBS Champion of all time, 509 days. Mone will be at WrestleDream, but we’re never told if she’ll actually wrestle on the show or just celebrate with all her titles.

AEW Men’s World Champion Hangman Adam Page is out to join commentary ahead of the upcoming Trios Title match.

The Opps (Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs & Katsuyori Shibata) vs. ROH Six Man Champions La Faccion Ingobernables (Rush, The Beast Mortos & Dralistico w/ Sammy Guevara) for the AEW Trios Titles

(Exactly what you’d want in a match like this, as it was action from the opening bell. LFI put up a great fight, but no way were The Opps losing tonight, especially with Joe challenging for the World Title this weekend. I could certainly see a rematch happening down the line, but as of right now, I’m not sure who is a credible threat for The Opps and the Trios Titles going forward.)

Mortos & Hobbs start, so the Meat chants ring out immediately, as Hobbs unloaded corner clotheslines until Dralistico caught one on the apron. That brief distraction allowed Mortos to dive with a clothesline out of the corner until Rush tagged in and called out Shibata, who obliged. Shibata ramped up the forearms, just walking through a Rush chop, so both traded loud overhand chops. Both switch to release Germans, which each no sold, as Rush hit a headbutt, but Shibata responded with a back heal trip for the double down. Joe tagged in and wanted Mortos, who threw some shots, but Joe absorbed with a charging corner splash and enzugiri. Page called Joe a “Christmas Ham of a Man” who can move around very well, as Shibata tagged back in and blindsided Rush with a running boot, but in doing so, was beat down by Mortos & Dralistico. Hobbs & Joe knocked from the apron, allowing Shibata to be picked apart by locomotion corner attacks and triple dropkick into commercial break.

Dralistico & Mortos did an assisted rolling Spear, that had Shibata really smack his neck against the bottom rope, as commentary pointed out the head injuries Shibata has had in his career. Dralistico briefly argued with referee Aubrey, which was all the time Shibata needed to meet Dralistico with his signature stalling corner dropkick before tagging Hobbs, who stacked LFI in the corner. After mowing down Rush & Mortos with clotheslines, he caught a defiant Dralistico with a World’s Strongest Slam. Joe tagged in and was on fire, squashing Dralistico with a running senton for two before spiking him with a snap powerslam. Joe wanted a Muscle Buster, but Mortos & Rush made the save. Shibata & Hobbs joined, as Rush was clutching his arm ringside while Shibata went out after him, so I hope he’s not legit hurt. Dralistico leapt off the second, but right into the clutches of Joe, who put him to sleep with a Coquina Clutch.

Post-match, LFI attacked The Opps, as Rush spat at Page on commentary, so he placed down the AEW Title and hit the ring to clean house. Dralistico & Mortos was sent flying, but Guevara pulled Rush to safety and avoided a Buckshot. Joe grabbed the AEW Title and came face to face with Page, shoving the title into his chest. Joe said Page is going to find out at WrestleDream as the Dynamite portion of the night has concluded.

Match Result: The Opps defeated LFI to retain the AEW Trios Titles when Joe submitted Dralistico

Orange Cassidy & Kyle O’Reilly vs. Wheeler Yuta & Daniel Garcia (w/Marina Shafir)

(Danielson put over how Yuta & Garcia should be better rivals than partners and made sure to point out the times they were on different pages during this match. Of course this was a Death Riders interference filled finish, but the post-match was the bigger story here, as Darby Allin was put through the ringer by Moxley’s Army, but it still wasn’t enough. I loved the callbacks from earlier in the night, with the AEW flag especially. I’m genuinely looking forward to the I Quit match this weekend and am curious where both men go after it’s over.)

I should point out that Cassidy’s entrance has ramped up to two small bits of pyro now. Yuta wanted no part of Cassidy to start, so Garcia had the early take down and scramble, trying to show Cassidy up. Slowly to his feet, Cassidy did the Garcia dance to pop the crowd, until both traded suplex attempts with Cassidy succeeding. O’Reilly tagged in and went for a cross arm-breaker, but Garcia scrambled to the rope. Kitchen sink by O’Reilly and running attack from Cassidy for the double team before both (and by both, I mean O’Reilly) took turns lighting Garcia in the ropes. It was only until Yuta came in when Cassidy ramped up the strikes. Yuta & Garcia tried to pull O’Reilly & Cassidy outside, but suffered a double suplex for their effort.

Back from break, Death Riders gained control when Yuta hit Cassidy with a brainbuster on the LED barricade, as he & Garcia were delivering double anvil elbows to O’Reilly, isolating him. After a brief miscalculation, O’Reilly managed a double dragon screw, allowing Cassidy to make the lukewarm tag. An homage to Chuckie T, as Cassidy hit Sole Food on Garcia before going up and over in the corner and taking out Garcia with a cross body before spiking Yuta with a DDT. Garcia tried to blindside Cassidy, who responded with Beach Break for two.

Cassidy wanted Orange Punch, but Yuta cut him off with an Angle Slam. Jon Moxley is shown slowly stalking around in the crowd, as Cassidy planted Yuta with a Stundog Millionaire, while O’Reilly fired off an axe kick and strike. O’Reilly & Garcia slugged it out until Garcia hit a Twist & Shout, but O’Reilly quickly answered into the Guillotine. Moxley hopped the barricade right as Cassidy took out Yuta with an Orange Punch and Tope. Shafir took the ref, having him miss that Garcia was tapping out. PAC sprinted out and attacked Cassidy, while Claudio Castagnoli cracked O’Reilly with an uppercut before throwing him back inside, allowing Garcia to steal the pin.

Post-match, Death Riders continued beating down Cassidy & O’Reilly until Roderick Strong & Tomohiro Ishii tried making the save, but they suffered the same fate as the brawl spilled ringside, leaving Moxley alone in the ring with a microphone. Darby Allin’s music immediately hit, as the lights went dark and Allin came staggering in after the attack earlier in the day. Walking like a zombie, Allin was destroyed by a Castagnoli uppercut, a PAC pump kick, beating from Garcia & Yuta and finally Shafir ran with a running knee. Still, after everything thrown at him, a bloodied Allin raised his hand onto the apron and pulled himself to the ring at the feet of Moxley as The Conglomeration fought off the Death Riders. Allin pulled out the AEW flag that he brought to Mount Everest, the one he said he’s choke Moxley out with. Allin took the mic from Moxley and said it’s never too late to say I Quit. Moxley laid Allin out with a Death Rider on top of the flag before leaving through the crowd with Shafir. We saw the lengths Darby Allin is willing to put himself through before he ever says I Quit. Doctors were checking on Allin, who had a smile on his face.

Match Result: Wheeler Yuta & Daniel Garcia defeated Orange Cassidy & Kyle O’Reilly when Garcia pinned O’Reilly

**********

-FTR & Stokely made their way out with Megan Bayne, as there was no Penelope Ford tonight with Bayne. Stokely handed Bayne the mic and she asked Willow Nightingale how it feels that she gave it everything she had last week, only to realize it wasn’t good enough. Now Nightingale is dusting herself off, tagging in a new friend, just to take another swing at the Megasus, which makes her stupid. If she didn’t beat it through her skull enough, maybe beating Harley Cameron tonight will get her point across.

Stokely said he couldn’t articulate enough how much he hates Willow Nightingale, but can with how much he hates JetSpeed. Kevin Knight has all the talent in the world, but hangs out with Speedball Bailey, who looks like Billy Ray Cyrus with an auto-immune disorder. Once they finish JetSpeed on Saturday, they’re going after the AEW Tag Team Titles. Dax Harwood ramped up the crowd and said to stay quiet while daddy was speaking. 11 years of FTR 10 World Titles over 7 different brands, multi time tag team of the year and match of the year. This Saturday, JetSpeed will stand across the ring from God.

JetSpeed, Willow Nightingale & Harley Cameron interrupt on the tron, as Kevin Knight told them to slow their role, something Harwood has a lot of on his neck. Bailey said it’s time to get down to action. Cameron said FTR stands for Feel the Rath, which Nightingale reminded her there’s a W in wrath. Cameron put the pieces together and realized Nightingale was right. They walked off, but it was pre-recorded, as Nightingale & Cameron were behind Bayne and laid her out with a double DDT. JetSpeed flew off the top with a double dropkick on FTR, as Harwood ate Time Adventure from Bailey, spinebuster from Nightingale and finally a UFO Splash from Knight. Justin Roberts then said the match between Cameron & Bayne starts right now, as everyone else went to the back. This was a good way to get over the two matches happening on the Tailgate Brawl this Saturday.

Harley Cameron vs. Megan Bayne

(If you look at this match on paper, you’d assume Cameron didn’t stand much of a chance, but she put up one hell of a fight, only helped by Bryan Danielson on commentary. Cameron kicking out of Bayne’s finisher was certainly unexpected and made fans really get behind Cameron down the stretch, but it ultimately wasn’t enough. Even with the loss, Cameron looked good in this.)

Bell sounded and Bayne pretty much no sold what just happened and hit a running dropkick immediately. Cameron side stepped a corner charge, dished out shoulders to the midsection, but Bayne recovered and steamrolled over Cameron. Slowly picking Cameron apart, Bayne remained dominant with a series of bodyslams, until Cameron floated over, fired off a pump knee and bulldog into the ropes before a head scissors was applied. Cameron took way too long going up top, as Bayne recovered and hit a back suplex from the apron back inside into commercial.

Cameron battled back, trying a back suplex of her own, but Bayne anchored herself and popped Cameron with a lariat. Bayne went up top for a moonsault, but Cameron swept out the legs and trapped her in a Tree of Woe for a dropkick. Cameron just got enough of a head scissors DDT, spiking Bayne in the process, but Bayne countered a suplex by doing the deal with a Falcon Arrow. In a fireman’s carry, Bayne brought Cameron up the ropes, but Cameron slid out into a sunset bomb for a close two. Corner hip checks from Cameron until Bayne runs through her with a lariat and Fate’s Decent, but Cameron managed a kick out, shocking Bayne. Slowly looking for a powerbomb, Cameron was able to get a jackknife pin for two, but Bayne was quickly up and hit a Running Liger Bomb for the win.

Match Result: Megan Bayne defeated Harley Cameron

-Eddie Kingston & HOOK were backstage, talking about moving on from LFI after Kingston’s two latest singles wins. They need to be moving forward in the tag team division. So they’ll be at the Tailgate Brawl before WrestleDream and challenge anyone to show up.

**********

-Alicia Atout is backstage with Max Caster & Anthony Bowens, who said he’ll never team with Caster ever again. Caster agreed and mocked Bowens having five plaques with him now. Each begged Tony Khan to never have to team with each other again. They both stormed out, Atout called them The Acclaimed, but they returned to scold her that they’re The Pride of Pro Wrestling & The Best Wrestler Alive. Tony Schiavone called them both spoiled brats. I’m sorry, but this story has been exhausting.

AEW World Tag Team Champions Brodido (Brody King & ROH Champion Bandido) & Mark Briscoe vs. TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher, Lance Archer & Rocky Romero

(One more party match for good measure to close the show on an action-packed high note. A good appetizer for Briscoe & Fletcher prior to WrestleDream, while also involving Okada for the Tag Team Title match as well. Despite the loss, having Don Callis’ crown jewel standing tall could be a prelude to possible new Tag Champs when WrestleDream is said and done.)

Don Callis joined commentary and quoted Wu-Tang Clan saying they bake the cake and they take the cake. Briscoe was worked over early, but fought off Archer until Fletcher tagged in, as both started trading bombs. Chops, forearms and headbutts dished out by Briscoe, until Brodido made quick tags and hit locomotion corner splashes. King bodyslammed Briscoe on Fletcher and did the same with Bandido, as they went to commercial with Bandido & Briscoe doing the Macarena with King again refusing to participate. One of these days, it’ll happen and it’ll be hysterically awesome.

During picture-in-picture, Fletcher was able to lawn dart Briscoe, allowing Archer to mock Bandido’s dance before keeping Briscoe isolated. Back from break, Fletcher & Briscoe collided with a double lariat, turning each other inside out for the double down. King & Archer slugged it out with Meat chants ringing out, until King dropped Archer with a DVD for two. Double team strikes from Brodido, until Archer leapt over Bandido to cross body King. Spinning sit-out bodyslam on Bandido, who actually tried a gorilla press on Archer, but sold the bad shoulder. Romero flew in with a double stomp on Bandido for a near fall, but missed a Sliced Bread. The match broke down, as everyone got involved until Bandido was able to gorilla press Romero, King flew in with a senton, Briscoe with a Froggy Bow, but Fletcher broke the count.

Briscoe & Fletcher again traded forearms until a thrust kick sent Briscoe to the apron. King sent Fletcher crashing outside, where Briscoe met him with a Blockbuster off the apron. Assisted DDT by Brodido on Archer, as Romero was planted with Dante’s Inferno/Pump Knee combo to give King the pin. Briscoe & Fletcher brawled to the back, as the lights started flickering and El Clon appeared at the stage solely for distraction. Kazuchika Okada blindsided King with a belt shot and laid out Bandido with a Rainmaker. Okada stood tall with Callis by his side, as he held up the AEW Tag Team Titles high to close the show.

Match Result: Mark Briscoe & Brodido defeated The Don Callis Family when King pinned Romero

FTR and Stokley Hathaway joined Tony Schiavone in the ring for a contract signing to face Daniel Garcia and Nigel McGuinness. Adam Cole, on commentary, put over Garcia strongly, calling him the future of the company. The crowd gave McGuinness a great reaction for his entrance. Cash Wheeler took the mic and said he was giving them one more chance to reconsider facing FTR. This got a ton of heat.

Garcia noted that he had trouble hearing FTR because the crowd was booing them so loudly. Garcia said he was standing up, not just for himself, but for Tony Schiavone, Adam Copeland, and everyone that FTR has targeted. Garcia said that it was going to be a fight, and that McGuinness, even with his own doubts, still has it. Nigel McGuinness said he would find out on Sunday, but he made sure that once this match was over, FTR would never touch him or Tony Schiavone for good.

Dax Harwood took the mic and said that he wanted McGuinness to look him in the eye as he signed the contract, because if he signed the contract, FTR were going to end his career and it was his blood on his own hands. Harwood said that McGuinness could walk to the commentary desk where he belonged, and they could be friends instead. Harwood provoked McGuinness and they jumped FTR and locked on submissions before security pulled FTR out of the ring. McGuinness signed the contract promising that he was going to end this fight.

–Tony Storm cut a pretaped promo about Mina Shirakawa, asking Shirakawa to bring her best at AEW Double or Nothing

The Don Callis Family (Konosuke Takeshita & Roppongi Vice (Rocky Romero & Trent Beretta) (w/ Don Callis & Lance Archer) defeated Los Outrunners (Turbo Floyd, Truth Magnum, & Bandido)

Bandido & Trent Beretta started the match. Bandido caught Beretta in midair and hit a tilt-a-whirl slam and then a stalling vertical suplex on Beretta. Floyd and Magnum came in and hit vertical suplexes on Takeshita & Romero or stereo suplexes with all three men. Bandido hit a tope con giro on everyone on the floor.

Takeshita nailed Magnum with a forearm and the Don Callis Family started getting the heat on the babyfaces for the next few minutes. As they came back from the ad-break, Magnum made a hot tag to Bandido, who ran wild, dropping Beretta and Romero. Bandido and Takeshita exchanged strikes, but Takeshita hit one big forearm to drop him. Bandido hit a kick out of the corner and hit a torneo on Takeshita.

Takeshita blocked a GTH and hit a Blue Thunder Bomb for a 2-count. The Outrunners were hit with jumping knee strikes from RPG Vice, but Bandido sent Romero to the floor, hit a GTH on Romero, but took a German suplex from Takeshita. Turbo Floyd came in for a hot tag, and hit three scoop slams before slamming his own partner on Takeshita to a huge reaction from the crowd. Bandido hit a pop-up cutter on Beretta, but Romero cut off a Total Recall from The Outrunners, and Lance Archer attacked Bandido on the floor, wiping him out. Takeshita and Beretta grabbed The Outrunners and hit Strong Zero on both of them for the win.

–A hype video aired for Gabe Kidd, where Moxley explained Kidd was the hired gun for them, and that they were going to paint a blood covered picture of what wrestling could be on Sunday.

TBS Champion Mercedes Moné defeated Reyna Isis to retain

Both women exchanged quick pinfall attempts to open the match. Moné hit a headscissors takedown into the Statement Maker, but Isis got out. Moné ended up eating a legdrop from the middle rope from Isis for a 2-count. Isis hit a butterfly suplex for another near fall. Moné hit another headscissors, but Isis got her knees up once Moné went off the middle ropes. Moné hit a backstabber for a 2-count. There was a miscommunication at one point before the end, but Moné was able to roll through it into a Statement Maker for the submission win.

–Jamie Hayter came down to the ringside area and looked to be ready to get in a fight with Moné, but security ran down and got between both women as they eyed the Owen Hart Cup trophy.

–A video aired of the Sons of Texas explaining their desire to win the AEW World Tag Team Championship because they were day one wrestlers in AEW.

Kyle Fletcher (w/ Don Callis) defeated Jay Lethal

Fletcher attacked Lethal viciously right away, but Lethal managed to force Fletcher to the floor and hit a tope suicida on Fletcher. Don Callis, on commentary was very concerned about Adam Cole’s health after the Lethal dive. Fletcher got in the face of Cole on the floor, but Lethal sent him back to the ring. Lethal fist bumped Cole, but Lethal was cut off and brutally powerbombed onto the apron before getting back in Adam Cole’s face.

It seems they are setting up Fletcher vs. Cole for the TNT Championship. Fletcher kept control over Lethal for the next few minutes, maintaining wrist control as he slammed Lethal. Lethal tried to come back with chops, while Fletcher begged him to take a free shot. Lethal decided to punch him instead and got a few near falls. The crowd was very into this match, as Lethal went for the figure four, but Fletcher blocked it. Lethal hit a dragon screw instead, and locked on the figure four soon thereafter.

Lethal went for a top rope elbow drop, but Fletcher cut him off and went for a superplex or a turnbuckle brainbuster, but Lethal countered the counter, and jumped off with a top rope elbow. Fletcher countered the counter of the counter with knees to Lethal’s elbow before hitting the brainbuster for the pinfall. That was a lot of counters. Really good match.

–The Don Callis family rushed the ring to attack afterwards, with Takeshita, Fletcher, and Josh Alexander attacking, but Paragon ran down to make the save as Adam Cole left the announcer’s desk to join them.

Paragon (Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly) defeated The Grizzled Young Veterans (James Drake & Zack Gibson)

This match had a super fast start with GYV taking it to Paragon early on, dominating them for the first few minutes with fast paced offence that the crowd appreciated. Gibson slowed it down with a chin lock on O’Reilly. O’Reilly did an up kick on Drake and tagged out to Strong, who ran wild, hitting suplexes and back breakers.

Strong hit a front suplex on Drake but Gibson made the save to break the pin. Gibson hit a lung blower in the corner, leaving Strong draped on the middle ropes and Gibson’s knees. Drake hit a coast-to-coast dropkick to the ribs of strong, but O’Reilly made the save. All four men brawled afterwards. All four men broke off, and Strong and O’Reilly hit the high-low on Drake while O’Reilly then locked on a guillotine choke on Gibson as Strong pinned Drake. Great tag match. Cole issued a challenge to the Don Callis family for Double or Nothing.

–A recap of the street fight with Gates of Agony and the Learning Tree aired.

Josh Alexander (w/ Don Callis) defeated AR Fox

Don Callis rejoined commentary was not happy about Cole challenging the Don Callis family, but accepted the challenge, with Paragon facing Takeshita, Alexander, and Fletcher. Fox hit a moonsault off the apron onto Alexander as this announcement was being made. Alexander responded with a suplex.

AR Fox hit a tope con giro to the floor to the chagrin of Don Callis, but Fox did land awkwardly, and was selling his leg slightly. Fox went for a cutter, but Alexander caught him and dead lifted him into a German suplex, hit a powerbomb, and then hit the C4 Spike for the win.

Callis, before leaving the desk, let Cole have a piece of his mind, saying that he could have been in the Don Callis Family if he wanted to, but now Alexander was going to stretch him.

–A video aired with fans predicting who was going to win between Hangman and Ospreay.

Mistico, Templario, & Mascara Dorada defeated Los Depredadores (Volador Jr., Magnus, & Rugido)

A CMLL lucha match on Collision? I’m in. This will be fun. I am not familiar with everyone in this match, only knowing Mistico, Dorada, and Volador Jr, so parts of this was a bit hard for me to keep track of when Depredadores was in the ring. That said, Dorada immediately impressed the fans, sending the rudo team to the floor.

The crowd was very into this, especially once Mistico tagged in and faced off with Volador. Mistico hit a handspring into a back elbow, but got caught with a dropkick when going for the elbow. Depredadores stomped on Mistico, ending with Volador hitting a superkick on Mistico. Magnus hit a hard chop on Templario, and Volador hit another superkick, this time on Templario. Rugido hit a basement dropkick on Dorada, leaving him for Volador to beat down.

Rugido was getting heat on Mistico as they came back from break, but Mistico hit a double armdrag on Magnus and Rugido, letting the tecnicos hit stereo tope suicidas. Mistico hit a crossbody on Magnus, hit a head scissors on Rugido, and then Volador before Templario hit a Sasuke Special.

Mascara Dorada came in and hit a poisonrana on Magnus before hitting a picture perfect shooting star press for the pinfall. This was a ton of fun.

–A recap video aired for Anna Jay & Harley Cameron vs. Penelope Ford & Megan Bayne, officially announcing it for the AEW Double or Nothing Buy In.

–Kris Statlander was backstage, saying that while she was sorry for the things she did to Willow Nightingale, Willow needed to be careful because Statlander was dangerous and Willow might not like it when Statlander was pushed and angry.

Mike Bailey & Komander (w/ Alex Abrahantes) defeated Rush & Dralistico

Dralistico ran in from the audience while Bailey and Komander were distracted, letting Rush and Dralistico beat on the babyfaces as the match started. Tony Schiavone, ever the professional, plugged their sponsor, an energy drink, as they hit Komander with it. The announcers were speculating that Okada bribed Rush and Dralistico to beat on Bailey last week and to damage him this week in their tag match.

Bailey managed to use some martial arts to turn the beating around, tagging out to Komander who hit a double dropkick on both Rush and Dralistico. Komander and Bailey both hit tope suicidas, then got in the ring, ran to their opposite side and hit it on the other opponent. They went for a third, but Rush and Dralistico walked out of the way, sending the babyfaces crashing to the floor.

Dralistico put Komander in the tree of woe, kicking him in the face. The heels worked over Komander for the next few minutes, tugging at the mask, and kicking him in the face. Rush spit at Bailey, which caused Bailey to try and get in the ring, which allowed Rush and Dralistico to double team him. Komander ran up the ropes and backflipped out of the way of an attack, hit a spike hurricanrana on Dralistico, and tagged out to Bailey who hit a series of kicks on Dralistico, continuing where they left off in their last match.

Bailey hit a standing shooting star press for a 2-count on Dralistico. Bailey and Rush exchanged forearms in the middle of the ring, to the delight of the crowd before changing to chops. Rush ended the exchange with a discus forearm before going for the Bull’s Horns, but just kicked Bailey in the face instead of hitting the dropkick. Bailey hit a thrust kick on Dralistico followed by a triangle moonsault before Komamder ran across the ropes from one side to the other and hitting a dive.

Bailey and Komander hit perfectly timed stereo shooting star presses from opposite corners for a 2-count. Komander hit a Canadian Destroyer on Dralistico. Rush ran in and hit a German suplex and knee strike on Bailey. Rush missed a charge and hit the ring steps, which distracted Dralistico long enough to hit a poisonrana followed by a spinning heel kick from Bailey and a shooting star press from Komander for the win. That was awesome.

–Kazuchika Okada made his entrance to come face to face with Bailey, looking disappointed that Bailey was not injured by Rush and Dralistico. Bailey bowed to Okada, showing respect, but Okada flipped him off. Bailey hit a spin kick to the hand of Okada, followed by a spinning heel kick on Okada that dropped him to the floor. Bailey hit a tope con giro on Okada, who caught Bailey perfectly, and Bailey grabbed the title and posed with it.

Final Thoughts

There was nothing unpredictable on this show, but all the matches were excellent. The recap videos were helpful for reminding people of the stories being told, and the main event was a fantastic match, so this was a win for AEW.

AEW Collision live results: Kris Statlander vs. Willow Nightingale

Old rivalries will be renewed on tonight’s special live edition of AEW Collision on TBS and Max.

Willow Nightingale and Kris Statlander will go one-on-one for the first time since last September’s All Out pay-per-view on tonight’s show. Their street fight last September earned critical acclaim.

In a rematch from the April 5 Collision, “Speedball” Mike Bailey and Dralistico will meet again on tonight’s show.

Tensions between Daniel Garcia and FTR will continue to rise on tonight’s show, with Garcia facing either Dax Harwood or Cash Wheeler in a one-on-one match.

AEW’s “Five-tool Player” Anthony Bowens will look to continue his AEW winning streak on tonight’s show as he faces Lee Johnson. Bowens is 2-0 since returning to AEW at Dynasty’s Zero Hour pre-show in April with his new persona.

Tonight’s show again takes place at the Masonic Temple Theatre in Detroit, the site of last night’s AEW Dynamite episode.

**********

AEW Collision opened with Toni Storm making her entrance, rising up from within one of the box seats dressed in old-timey dress. Storm’s promo was filled double entendres, but she was talking about wrestling, and how she wanted to face a new set of challengers before Hayter or Mercedes Moné.

–The Paragon were backstage, and O’Reilly and Strong were talking about the disappointment they had in losing to FTR, but Adam Cole assured them that it wouldn’t be long before they were back at the top. The Grizzled Young Veterans showed up to challenge them, saying they forgot what it was like to fight for their spot, and they would provide a fight to remind them.

Ricochet defeated Angelico

Zach Gowen was in the audience, booing Ricochet as he made his entrance. The fans chanted “He has hair!” in favour of Angelico, who happened to take the first minute or so of the match, but Ricochet hit a dive and chased after Serpentico on the floor. Ricochet got hit a stun gun in the ropes and a clothesline for a two count, which he disputed with the referee. Richochet missed a 450 splash, but hit a sole butt. Angelico responded with a flying knee and then a lifting flatliner for a 2-count.

Angelico hit a series of lariats off the ropes before locking in an abdominal stretch before slapping Ricochet on the top of his head multiple times. Angelico locked on a half crab, but Ricochet made the ropes. Ricochet hit a standing shooting star press for a 2-count, but an inverted suplex, and hit the spirit gun for the win. This was a good match, but it definitely shouldn’t have been as 50/50 as it was as I cannot tell you the last time I’ve seen Angelico on AEW TV outside of ROH.

–Ricochet invited the crowd to boo him, saying that they were stupid for booing him because if they were smart, they would cheer for him. He listed the people he had beaten, and as he was talking, he paused and pointed out Zach Gowen. He talked about Gowen was retired now, and that he didn’t have a leg in the fight. He shoved Gowen, and security ran over to break it up, but Ricochet hit the security with his mic and threw one of the them into the ring.

Ricochet pulled out a pair of scissors and started cutting the hair of the security officer, but Gowen ran in and took the scissors out of Ricochet’s hands. Ricochet kicked Gowen in the leg and hit the spirit gun on Gowen. Ricochet took Gowen’s prosthetic leg and left the ring with it. Ricochet posed with the leg, and the crowd gave tons of heat to Ricochet for this angle. I suspect we’ll get a match between these two, maybe at Double or Nothing.

The Don Callis Family (Kyle Fletcher, Lance Archer, Rocky Romero, & Trent Berreta) (w/ Don Callis) defeated The Outrunners (Turbo Floyd & Truth Magnum), AR Fox, & Bandido

Nigel McGuinness said that the The Outrunners were two men sharing one brain, and I laughed hard enough that I had to note it here. Fletcher and Bandido started the match, and that is a match I’d love to see. Berretta tagged in and took out Bandido.

The Outrunners came in and double teamed RPG Vice, hitting a clothesline and bulldog combo on both men. Lance Archer came in and chokeslammed both men, and started working over Magnum. Callis and McGuinness had so many quips about the Outrunners I would have had the same amount of trouble keeping track of them as I do keeping track of moves in a Young Bucks match.

Magnum managed to roll into a tag against Bandido who hit an incredible torneo off the turnbuckle on Fletcher. Roponggi Vice tried to tag out Bandido, but he low bridged them. Bandido tried to do the same with Archer, who just stopped and stomped him, but was tossed over the ropes by the Outrunners. AR Fox launched himself over the top rope on the shoulders of Bandido, and then Bandido launched over the ropes onto everyone, as the PWG party match of the show brought the crowd to their feet.

Bandido went for the 21-plex on Fletcher, but Fletcher countered into a dragon suplex, which Bandido countered by landing on his feet and going for a suplex. Fletcher responded with his own and Bandido tagged out to Fox, who hit a cannonball on Fletcher and a DDT on Archer. Fox hit a triangle dropkick on Romero, rolled backwards into a cutter on Fletcher, ducked a PK from Romero, then hit a cutter on Romero. Fox then hit a cutter on Romero and Berretta, but was cut off by Archer, who chokeslammed him off the top rope and RPG Vice hit the Jackal Driver for the win. This was a great match.

–They recapped Ricochet laying out Zach Gowen and taking his prosthetic leg. They then announced Ricochet vs. Zach Gowen for Dynamite the next week, along with highlighting Jon Moxley vs. Samoa Joe.

–A promo video aired about Moxley and Samoa Joe. This was awesome.

–Jon Moxley was backstage cutting a promo about the cage match with Samoa Joe. Moxley said he knew he was going to get beat up, but could Joe really keep going long enough to beat Moxley? Moxley promised that no matter what Joe did, he had been through worse, and that he faced demons that keep people up at night, and he was going to take the fight to Joe, and that he would be the last man standing against Joe and that there was no place he would rather be. This was a tremendous promo.

Anthony Bowens (w/ Billy Gunn) defeated Lee Johnson (w/ Blake Christian)

Bowens and Johnson exchanged some holds until Bowens started to unleash with a series of chops and stomps in the corner. Johnson comically tried to make an alliance with Billy Gunn, which did not go well for him. Christian managed to distract Bowens, allowing Johnson to send Bowens to the floor. Bowens hit a big superkick back in the ring that dropped Johnson, and Bowens hit the Mollywhop for the win.

–Bowens and Gunn did the scissoring pose for the crowd.

–The Gates of Agony came out, and Bishop Kaun grabbed a mic and said that Big Bill and Bryan Keith weren’t going to redeem themselves by beating them. Toa Liona said that he wanted to fight right now, and the Learning Tree came out and started brawling with The Gates of Agony. Liona charged so fast at Bill that he crashed into the barricade and fell into the front row. Kaun grabbed Keith and hit a Death Valley Driver off the stage through two tables on Keith. Liona then speared Bill off the other side of the stage through another set of tables.

–A recap video aired for Anna Jay and Megan Bayne.

–A recap video for Willow Nightingale and Kris Statlander, showing their friendship, the turn of Statlander, and Nightingale challenging her to a match for tonight.

Kris Statlander defeated Willow Nightingale

Tony Schiavone and Nigel McGuinness noted that it is hard to trust Statlander due to her former alliance with Stokley Hathaway, who both commentators dislike. Nightingale booped Statlander, playing off her former gimmick, and Statlander slapped her. Statlander mocked Nightingale with a smiley face, and Nightingale slapped her. They started to exchange hard strikes, and Nightingale hit a snapmare and a thrust kick.

Both women exchanged pinfall attempts until Statlander hit a springboard back elbow for a 2-count. As Statlander hit the ropes, Nightingale ran the opposite direction and hit a pounce that sent Statlander to the floor. Nightingale hit a flip off the apron on Statlander, and Statlander hit a suplex on the floor on Nightingale as they went to an ad break.

The show came back with a really cool camera transition from a hall at the back into the arena and around ringside as Nightingale and Statlander hit stereo clotheslines on each other. Statlander hit a running knee in the corner, and Willow cartwheeled out of the corner and hit a big boot and a spinebuster in a cool spot. Nightingale hit a series of clotheslines in the corner and went for a Death Valley Driver, but Statlander fought out.

Statlander hit an axe kick for a two count on Nightingale. Statlander went for a fisherman’s buster, but Nightingale fought out and hit a Death Valley Driver for a 2-count. Statlander cut Nightingale off on the ropes and hit a top rope superplex on Nightingale. Statlander went for a discus lariat, but Nightingale hit a lariat and then a gutwrench powerbomb.

Statlander rolled to the floor, and Wheeler Yuta made his way down to ringside. Marina Shafir ran in with a chain and choked Nightingale out behind the back of the referee. Statlander did not see this happen, but came in and hit Staturday Night Fever for the win.

— Skye Blue returns on Dynamite next week.

–A recap of Hangman Page and Will Ospreay’s opening segment from Dynamite last night, ending with confirmation that Hangman and Ospreay would be taking on Konosuke Takeshita and Josh Alexander on Dynamite.

The Don Callis Family (Josh Alexander & Konosuke Takeshita) (w/ Don Callis) defeated The Dark Order (Evil Uno & Alex Reynolds)

Alexander and Takeshita immediately attacked The Dark Order, laying out the two men. Reynolds managed to escape some of the attack, tagging out to Uno, but soon after Alexander and Takeshita hit an electric chair into a flying knee on Uno (who sold it like he died, which was great), and Alexander hit the C4 Spike on Reynolds for the win. A quick squash, as it should have been.

Mike Bailey defeated Dralistico

Bailey and Dralistico had several crazy spots to open the match dodging each other. Bailey hit a Asai Moonsault to the floor and chopped Dralistico several times. Dralistico raked the eyes and hit a hurricanrana on the floor that drove Bailey into the steps.

Dralistico slowed the match down, raking the eyes several times and choking Bailey on the ropes as they came back from the break. Bailey hit a few kicks, selling a checked kick, but hitting a chop, and both wrestlers exchanged hard chops, while Bailey hit hard kicks. The crowd went nuts as they exchanged kicks, ending with a thrust kick that dropped Dralistico. That was awesome.

Bailey hit a running shooting star press for a two count. Bailey went for a shooting star press off the top rope, but Dralistico countered into a cradle, and they broke into a pinfall attempts before Dralistico hit a crucifix driver, but Dralistico went for a splash, and Bailey caught him with his feet, popped up onto his shoulders, and hit a Canadian destroyer. Bailey hit a moonsault into double knees on the apron, and hit a spinning heel kick to KO Dralistico for the win. That was an awesome finishing sequence.

–Rush’s music hit and he came out to collect his brother and stare at Mike Bailey, so it seems we are going to be getting that match sooner than later, and it should be awesome.

–Tony Schiavone announced that next week’s AEW Collision will be done in honour of Steve ‘Mongo’ McMichael in Chicago, with his friends and family, including Ric Flair, being in attendance. That is a very nice gesture, and I’m glad they are doing that.

Dax Harwood (w/ Cash Wheeler & Stokely Hathaway) defeated Daniel Garcia via DQ

The fans chanted “Bald!” at Dax Harwood, and Garcia patted the top of Harwood’s head to the delight of the fans and anger of Harwood. Harwood backed Garcia into the corner and refused the clean break, hitting a punch that dropped Garcia and drew boos from the crowd. A simple spot, but it worked. Harwood chopped Garcia hard several times, drawing gasps from the crowd.

Harwood hit a swinging neckbreaker on Garcia, sending him to the mat. Harwood hit several knee drops right in front of Wheeler and Hathaway, who taunted Garcia. Harwood went for a piledriver, but Garcia fought it off. Harwood dumped Garcia to the floor and argued with a fan, which allowed Garcia to block a piledriver on the floor and slingshot Harwood into the ring post.

Harwood came up bleeding, and Garcia suddenly had the match turned around in his favour, as he hit a running shotgun dropkick on the floor, followed by two more as Harwood was seated against the guardrail. As Garcia went for a fourth, Wheeler stopped him by getting in the way, letting Harwood hit a lariat on the floor.

Harwood grabbed the ring bell, but Bryce Remsburg managed to take it away. Hathaway got on the apron and distracted the referee, which allowed Cash Wheeler to hit a cutter on Garcia on the floor. Matt Menard ran down and started brawling with Cash Wheeler, sending him to the back, leaving Harwood with Hathaway at ringside.

Garcia managed to cradle Harwood for a two count. Harwood tied Garcia in the ropes and beat on him before hitting a Randy Orton style DDT from the middle ropes, but Garcia kicked out. The fans chanted a very vulgar set of words at Harwood, voicing their displeasure. Harwood slapped Garcia, but Garcia hit several overhead chops that left Harwood stunned. Garcia hit two hard lariats, but Harwood stayed standing. Harwood hit a hard forearm, but Garcia hit a lariat.

Harwood pulled off the turnbuckle pad trying to block Garcia from hitting a back suplex. Garcia went for the Dragon Tamer, but Harwood shoved Garcia off and he crashed face first into the exposed turnbuckle. Harwood hit a slingshot powerbomb for a 2-count. Harwood went to the top rope, but Garcia managed to cut him off and hit a top rope superplex before rolling into a standing position, placing Harwood back on the top rope, hitting a 2nd top rope superplex, and he did it one last time, hitting a third. That was awesome. Harwood kicked out at 2.

Garcia nailed Harwood with several forearms and dumped Harwood into the crowd. Garcia and Harwood brawled all around the audience, ending up behind the announcers, with Harwood slapping the headset of Nigel McGuinness. Harwood shoved McGuinness after McGuinness refused to fight with him, saying that he was retired. The crowd went nuts as McGuinness got into the ring and he and Garcia cleared the ring of Harwood and a returning Wheeler, with the match ending in a DQ, but the babyfaces getting the upper hand. This is one of the few times I don’t mind the DQ finish, as it made sense within the context of the story being told, and ended with the babyfaces laying out the heels. I think we’ll be seeing Nigel McGuinness opposite FTR at some point soon, probably teaming with Garcia, maybe at Double or Nothing. That will be a really fun match.

Final Thoughts

Good episode of Collision tonight, with lots of recap videos for the important storylines, and good build for the secondary stories in the promotion right now, ending with story advancement for Daniel Garcia vs. FTR.

**********

Collision, taped in Chicago, Illinois.

Tony Schiavone & Nigel McGuinness were on commentary.

Will Ospreay defeated Juice Robinson in a Gold League Continental Classic Match (12:36)

Ospreay got a mega-pop, and Robinson also got a not-too-shabby pop himself, since he hails from nearby Joliet. Robinson blocked a Oscutter early-on, but couldn’t avoid a step-up hurricanrana. Ospreay hung Robinson up in the “tree of woe” then dove at him with a dropkick. Ospreay tried up Robinson in an octopus hold. Juice escaped and went for a senton, but Robinson lifted his knees. Robinson finally go the edge with a clothesline in the corner, then followed up with a cannonball and hangman’s neckbreaker for a near fall.

Robinson hit a crossbody off the top for a near fall. Ospreay fought out of a power bomb attempt. Ospreay went for a hurricanrana, which Robinson was likely supposed to block, but he awkwardly fell instead (and it looked like Ospreay came down on his neck, but that could have just been selling, too). Robinson powered Ospreay up from the mat and into a nasty powerbomb.

After a split-screen break, Ospreay sprung into the ring with a forearm on Juice. Ospreay hit Robinson with a plancha on the floor. Back in the ring, Ospreay caught Robinson with a running boot in the corner. Ospreay ran into a leg lariat from Robinson. Robinson followed up with rights. Ospreay ducked the Left Hand of God and hit a Stundog Millionaire. Robinson avoided another Oscutter and floored Ospreay with a lariat for a near fall. The crowd was really getting behind Juice. Ospreay caught Robinson with a kick and the Styles Clash for a near fall. Ospreay followed up with the Hidden Blade and got the pinfall. Great showing from Juice here.

During the match, it was announced that Ospreay v. Allin would take place on the December 18th Dynamite from D.C.

– Mariah May cut a promo on the set where she attacked Mina Shirakawa last week. May attacked Shirakawa to give Mina everything she ever wanted. Mina v. Mariah for the World Women’s Title is set for December 11th on Dynamite.

Private Party & Místico defeated The MxM Collection & Johnny TV (8:16)

Mansoor standing in the camera shot with a leaf blower to give Johnny the wind blown effect for his entrance was *chef’s kiss.*

Mansoor got double-teamed in the Private Party for a near fall. He got the blind tag to Madden, and Marq Quen got triple-teamed by the heels for the near fall. More triple-teaming from the heels lead to a mid-ring pose from the heels. The heels set up Quen for the most elaborate triple team kick to the posterior I’ve ever seen.

Quen finally got the hot tag to Zay by ducking a double clothesline. Zay went after all three men, catching Madden with a Cutter and dropkicking TV and Mansoor to the floor. Zay followed out with a dive on Johnny, then hit Madden with an Asai Moonsault. Back in the ring, Zay missed a senton on TV for a near fall.

Místico caught Mansoor with a springboard crossbody. Mansoor and TV tossed Zay into a high-angle spinebuster from Madden for a near fall. TV caught Zay with an enziguri and went to the top, but Místico crotched him. Místico caught MxM on the floor with a top rope dive, and Private Party finished off TV with the Gin & Juice. Pretty good, but I was surprised by what a non-factor Místico was.

– Lexi Nair interviewed Anna Jay, who can’t challenge for the AEW World Women’s title anymore (while Mariah is champion, anyway), so she’ll be taking a big swing at someone else instead.

Kyle Fletcher defeated The Beast Mortos in the Blue League of the Continental Classic (9:18 aired)

Don Callis was on commentary for this match. Wait. No seconds are allowed but Callis is allowed to be on commentary? The commentary desk is right at ringside!

Fletcher slammed Mortos and sneered at him. Mortos caught Fletcher with a tijeras. Fletcher countered a monkey flip attempt and sent Mortos to the floor with a forearm.

Fletcher hit a Michinoku Driver for a near fall coming back from the break. Mortos backdropped Fletcher, then hit a Canadian Destroyer, but a DDT instead of a piledriver. Fletcher dropped to the floor, and Mortos followed him out with a tornio. Back in the ring, Fletcher avoided a dive from Mortos, and followed up with a sit-out Last Ride style powerbomb for another near fall. Fletcher followed Mortos into the corner with a boot. He set up Mortos for a superplex, but Mortos headbutted him down. Mortos came off the top with a crucifix driver, then a stiff lariat for another near fall. Fletcher came back with his own lariat, hit another running boot in the corner, and finished off Mortos with a brainbuster. Fletcher got his first 3 points in the tournament.

Fletcher will face Shelton Benjamin in his next Blue League match on Dynamite Wednesday.

– A recap of the feud no one wants to see continue between MJF and Cole’Reily. This led to Lexi Nair interrupting an argument between Kyle O’Reilly and The Kingdom. I guess now the Kingdom wants Kyle to stay out of it while they finish off MJF? It sounds like O’Reilly respects what they want, but isn’t going to do it anyway.

The Outrunners defeated Iron Savages (w/ Jack Jamison) (2:51)

Not only do the Outrunners come out to a 4:3 aspect ratio, but they’ve added tracking errors on the screen. Boulder went to try a springboard something out of the corner, but missed tragically. Truth Magnum then got the “hot tag” (at 1:30) to Turbo Floyd, who bodyslam Bronson. He couldn’t bodyslam big Boulder on the first try, but did on the second. The Outrunner finished off Boulder with some kind of double-team neckbreaker.

After the match, FTR came out to shake hands with the Outrunners.

– Lexi Nair interviewed Max Caster, who challenged Swerve Strickland for Dynamite. Caster talked baldy about Billy Gunn and Anthony Bowens. Caster “gave [them] the week off” after Bowens lost the title match at Full Gear. Caster might make a great heel in the long run but this is absolutely the wrong time for it.

“Hangman” Adam Page defeated  Wheeler Yuta (12:13)

Page was chastised by the referee for trying to take the turnbuckle padding off one of the corner. Page clotheslined Yuta to the floor, then basically F-5’d him into the ring apron face-first. Yuta tried to toss Page back into the ring, but he rebounded off the bottom rope and hit Yuta with a lariat.

Back in the ring, Page hit a belly-to-belly suplex for a near fall. Yuta ducked a springboard lariat and caught Page by clipping his knee. Yuta went to work on Page’s knee.

After a split-screen break, Yuta countered a top rope superplex attempt by hanging up Yuta in the ropes. Page powerbombed Yuta out of the corner. Page booted Yuta to the floor and whipped him around the ring barricades. The crowd started to get behind Page. Back in the ring, Page hit a death valley driver for a near fall.

PAC and Claudio Castagnoli showed up in the crowd, and this distraction led to a near fall for Yuta. Page floored Yuta with a discus lariat. Page set up Yuta for the Buckshot Lariat as Jon Moxley and Marina Shafir showed up behind PAC and Castagnoli. Page went for the Buckshot Lariat, but he hurt his knee when he planted and Yuta went for the Seatbelt. Page countered, maneuvered Yuta into the Dead Eye reverse piledriver, and got the pinfall.

After the match, Page beat on Yuta. He threatened to break his neck with the chair, but Jay White ran out to save Yuta… then White gave Yuta the Blade Runner. White got into Yuta’s face and told him “Tell your king that the real king is coming for his title!”

– Thunder Rosa promoted the Lucha episode of Rampage. Also, watching Mariah May turn on Mira Shirakawa has Rosa interested in getting back into the title picture again. She will be closely watching the title match at Winter is Coming.

– In the back, Adam Page told Christopher Daniels the last thing he needed was advice from an old man like him.

Mina Shirakawa defeated Leila Grey (3:26)

Grey caught Mina with a kick while she was dancing. Grey and Shirawaka exchanged blows. Shirakawa caught Grey with a kick and a running lariat for a near fall. Grey dodged a charge in the corner and caught Mina with a running knee. Mina avoided a pump kick, then caught Grey with a spinning backfist for a near fall. Grey countered a Glamorous Driver with a roll up. Mina caught Grey with a blockbuster off the middle ropes, then finished off Grey with the Glamourous Driver.

– Lexi Nair interviewed Willow Nightingale abut her upcoming International Women’s cup qualifier. Nightingale will face Serena Deeb on Collision next week, and the winner of that match will face Jamie Hayter at Winter is Coming. The winner of that match goes on to the International Women’s Cup on January 5th at the Tokyo Dome.

Kazuchika Okada and Daniel Garcia went to a time limit draw in a Blue League Continental Classic Match (20:00 announced, 18:57 or so aired)

Garica has the classic gold TNT title, not that dirty one Jack Perry was wearing. And again, no seconds are allowed at ringside but there’s Matt Menard, sitting at the commentary desk.

Garcia countered a forearm attempt from Okada with a backslide, which set off Garcia getting a couple of near falls off cradle attempts. Okada faked out Garcia by offering a handshake and Garcia made him pay for it with chops and a shotgun dropkick.

After a split-screen break, Okada missed a slingshot senton. Okada ducked a clothesline and locked Garcia in the Money Clip. That move is as over in AEW as it was in New Japan. Garica fought his way out of the hold and kicked Okada In the corner. Garcia locked in a sleeper on Okada, then hit a running knee strike for a near fall.  Garcia locked in a sharpshooter, but Okada easily made the ropes, the dropped to the floor.

On the floor, Garcia stood over Okada and rained down punches on him, then hit Okada with a running shotgun dropkick. Okada was selling his shoulder, and when referee Aubrey Edwards turned to get medical help, Okada popped up and nailed Garcia with a chair. Okada then DDT’d Garcia on the floor and showed Edwards his shoulder was fine.

After a second commercial break, Okada and Garcia were brawling on the top rope. Garcia superplexed Okada from the top rope for a near fall. Okada caught Garcia with a neckbreaker for a near fall. Okada hit a top rope elbow, then taunted Garcia by mimicking his dance. Garica responded by catching Okada with an ankle lock. Okada escaped by making the ropes, and Garcia followed up with another shotgun dropkick. Okada went for a dropkick, but Garcia blocked it. Garcia went for the sharpshooter again, but Okada countered with a small package attempt. Okada and Garica then knocked each other out with a double clothesline.

Okada made it to his feet first and hit a lariat. Garcia ducked the Rainmaker but Okada hit him with a dropkick. Okada went for the Rainmaker again, but Garcia countered with a cradle and locked in the Sharpshooter! Okada crawled to the ropes, but Garcia pulled him back into the center of the ring and leaned all the way back into the Sharpshooter. But Okada hung on, didn’t tap out and the time limit expired. As a result, both Okada and Garcia will get 1 point each in the standings. This was fine but it was fairly obvious they were wrestling to the draw early on.

After the match, Okada offered Garcia a handshake, but then flipped him off instead.

During this match, PAC v. Jay White was announced for Dynamite Wednesday, and Claudio Castagnoli  v. Will Ospreay and Ricochet v. Brody King were announced for the December 11th Winter is Coming.

**********

Now it’s time for Lucha Libre Rampage!

Taped in Reading, PA.

Excalibur, Matt Menard and Ian Riccaboni were on commentary.

Thunder Rosa defeated  Harley-Gram (5:20)

Harley-Gram reminded me: whatever happened to Fuego Dos? Less than two minutes in, Harley removed her mask to reveal her secret identity was Harley Cameron all along! Rosa caught Cameron with a dropkick. Rosa tied up Cameron in the corner and hit her with a shotgun dropkick. Cameron came back with a Russian leg sweep for a near fall. Cameron put her mask back on, but Rosa yanked it back off while they were brawling on the floor. Back in the ring, Rosa finished off Cameron with the package driver.

– Renee Paquette interviewed Mercedes Mone, who is not here to talk about Camille. She’s here to talk about Lucha Libre and her favorite wrestler, Eddie Guerrero. Mone also wants more championship gold.

Atlantis Jr., Máscara Dorada & Katsuyori Shibata defeated Top Flight & Action Andretti (w/ Leila Grey) (11:56)

Wow. This was all kinds of crazy action. Dorado went for a hurricanrana on Andretti, who handspringed out of the move and landed on his feet. Dorado and Atlantis combined for a double-hiptoss into a sit-out powerbomb on Andretti for a near fall. Darius Martin saved Andretti from a back suplex. Then Andretti hit a flipping senton off to Darius’s shoulders for a near fall. Atlantis turned a hurricanrana from Darius into a sunset flip for a near fall. Atlantis hit a crucifix driver for a near fall. Darius came back with a dropkick.

After a split-screen break, Atlantis caught Darius with a cutter, then got the tag to Shibata. Shibata hit Dante with a boot and forearms, then ran in with a diving shotgun dropkick in the corner. A suplex on Datne got a near fall. Dante went for a sunset flip, but Shibata rolled through and floored Dante with a kick. Dorado hit a Fosbury Flop on Andretti. Back in the ring, Shibata had both members of Top Flight tied up in leglocks. Andretti broke it up, and Darius and Andretti hit superkicks on Shibata. But when Shibata fell backwards, it increased the pressure on Dante’s legs, which were still tied up in a leg lock!

Dorado caught Darius with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Dorado hit a 450 splash off the top for a near fall. Dorado went back to the top, but Dante pulled him to the mat. Andretti dropkicked Dorato into a suplex from Darius, and Dante picked him up for his half nelson slam. Andretti went for a brainbuster on Dorado, but Atlantis broke it up. Andretti caught both his opponents with handspring back elbows. Atlantis and Dorado caught Andretti with kicks, and Dorado finished off Andretti with a shooting star press.

– A recap of the Hook/Patricachy feud. This led to an interview with Nick Wayne and Mother Wayne and the announcement that Hook will face Nick Wayne at the Hammerstein Ballroom (unclear which show). Nick wanted to face Hook in his hometown in a venue that Hook’s father made his name. “I’ll see you at home, Hook… or will I?”

The Beast Mortos defeated Serpentico (5:12 aired)

Nobody mentioned Mortos getting dropped on his head two hours ago by Kyle Fletcher. Mortos crushed Serpentico with a pop-up Samoan Drop for a near fall.

After a commercial break (and talk about a match that shouldn’t have gone through a commercial), Serpentico got a near fall after a La Magistral cradle. Mortos gave Sperpencio a pair of backbreakers, then floored him with a lariat and got the pinfall. Most of this match took place in the picture-in-picture window, but I have no idea why a guy in the prestigious Continental Classic is going 5 minutes with a Dark jobber.

– In the back, someone has laid out Kamille.

– Kyle O’Reilly, Luther Reigns & Brian Cage, Mark Edwards, Komander, Adam Cole are the names announced for the Dynamite Dozen Battle Royal. That’s not 12 guys. The winner of the 12 man battle royal gets a shot at MJF and his ring, I would assume at Winter is Coming.

Hechicero defeated Komander (w/ Alex Abrahantes) (13:06)

Hechicero pulled Komander out of the air on a leapfrog attempt, then dropped an elbow on his back. Lots of mat work early on in the match. Hechicero tried to go for a stretch muffler, but Komander climb out of it. Komander went for a tijeras, but Hechicero countered it into  apin attempt. More near misses and reversals from both guys ended with Hechicero getting Komander in trouble against the ropes.

A lot of this match took place in the split-screen window. After the long break, Komander sprung out of the corner with a top rope dropkick. Komander hit a hurricanrana off the top, but Hechicero caught Komander with a sleeper in the ropes. Komander dropkicked Hechicero to the floor. Komander followed him out with a top rope springboard moonsault. Back in the ring, Komander came off the top with a body press, then rolled up Hechicero for two.

Komander hit a spinning DDT. He went for a springboard moonsault, but Hechicero caught him with a armbar. Komander countered the armbar into a pinfall attempt for a near fall. Komander and Hechicero exchanged forearms. Komander countered a suplex attempt with small package. Hechicero caught Komander with a backbreaker and followed up with a charging knee in the corner. Hechicero then brought Komander down with what can best be described as a headscissors driver to get the pinfall.

Final rundown for Dynamite Wednesday: Brody King v. Claudio Castagnoli, Shelton Benjamin v. Kyle Fletcher, Jay White v. PAC, Swerve Strickland v. Max Caster, and the Dynamite Dozen Battle Royal.

This was a fine three out block of professional wrestling.

AEW Collision live results: Adam Copeland open challenge

Adam Copeland has issued an open challenge for tonight’s AEW Collision from Norfolk, Virginia.

Copeland is coming off a victory in an eight-man tag on Dynamite and a singles win over Griff Garrison on last week’s Collision.

New signee Deonna Purrazzo will make her Collision debut against Red Velvet who is also debuting on Collision.

Virginia native Hangman Page will be in a featured segment.

ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champions Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona) & Brian Cage will put their titles on the line against the team of Lance Archer & The Righteous (Vincent & Dutch).

FTR & Daniel Garcia team will take on the House of Black (Malakai Black, Buddy Matthews & Brody King).

AEW Battle of the Belts IX kicks off (in a new post) immediately after Collision as AEW Tag Team Champions Ricky Starks & Big Bill defend against Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara, International Champion Orange Cassidy defends against Preston Vance, and TBS Champion Julia Hart defends against Anna Jay.

No pre-roll promos, as Sir Elton John played us into this week’s Collision. Tony Schiavone, Kevin Kelly, & Nigel McGuinness were on the call as Adam Copeland made his way to the ring to start the show. Copeland thanked Norfolk for bringing the heat before asking for someone to answer his challenge. Lee Moriarty & Shane Taylor made their way to the ring, with Taylor saying that they were here to take every opportunity. Taylor introduced a video package hyping Moriarty. Moriarty then took the mic and told Copeland that he would tap him out.

“Cope Open” Challenge – Adam Copeland defeated Lee Moriarty (w/ Shane Taylor)

Moriarty looked good here, as Copeland scores another fall with the Grindhouse submission on his road back to the TNT Title.

Copeland escaped Moriarty’s early mat takedown before ringing Copeland’s arm up on the apron before a commercial break. After the break, Copeland hit a full nelson slam to take down Moriarty. Copeland fired up, hitting a reverse DDT for a nearfall. Copeland went to the top rope, but Moriarty yanked him down with an armdrag for a nearfall. Moriarty immediately transitioned into the Border City Stretch, but Copeland got to the ropes.

Copeland knocked Moriarty down onto the top rope, then took him down with an avalanche fallaway slam. Copeland loaded up to hit the spear, but Taylor distracted him on the outside. Moriarty hit a Yakuza Kick, but Copeland avoided a springboard to slide outside and spear Taylor. Moriarty hit a dive onto Copeland, then countered Edge’s crossface attempt into another Border City Stretch.

Copeland swung his way out, laying in forearms to the back of Moriarty’s head. Copeland hit a big boot and a backbreaker before locking on the crossface – now called the Grindhouse – for the submission win. After the match, Copeland reminded everyone that his target was the TNT Champion Christian Cage.

After a video package of last week’s attack from the House of Black, FTR & Daniel Garcia were backstage with Lexy Nair. Harwood said that while he didn’t know if they would get along, they did all have the same mindset going into the match. Garcia said that he needed to be on Collision to grow as a wrestler, and that he would make the House of Black pay for attacking him and the people he cared about.

Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara were backstage with Lexy Nair, who reminded everyone that Sammy Guevara is the only man in AEW history to win a title at Battle of the Belts. They put over Ricky Starks & Big Bill, but they would take it to the streets and win the AEW World Tag Team Titles tonight on Battle of the Belts.

ROH World Six Man Tag Team Title Match – The Mogul Embassy (Bishop Kaun, Brian Cage & Toa Liona) (c) defeated Lance Archer & The Righteous (Dutch & Vincent) (w/ Jake Roberts)

The crowd was unsurprisingly cold on this match when it started, as the Righteous haven’t been highlighted on AEW TV in months. But the work got the crowd into it as these guys scrapped it out for the gold. A nice set-up match for the Mogul Embassy leading to their defense against Bullet Club Gold on Dynamite.

During the entrances, they showed how the miscommunication between Archer and the Embassy in an eight-man tag match on Dynamite led to this match. Cage took Archer over with a suplex, a headscissors, and a German suplex. Archer came back with a crossbody that took down both Cage and Kaun before tagging in Vincent, who dropped Kaun with a back elbow. Kaun and Liona isolated Vincent in their corner to take the advantage.

Both Dutch and Liona got involved from the apron, leading to a Pier Six brawl and a commercial break. Dutch dropped Kaun with a crossbody, but Kaun dropped Archer with a DDT reversal. Kaun fought out of the opponent’s corner, but Archer knocked his partners off the apron and hit a chokeslam. We got a move train that ended with Dutch hitting a dive to the Embassy on the floor.

Archer set up Kaun for the Blackout, but Nana held onto Kaun’s foot in the corner. Roberts laid out Nana with a punch before the Righteous hit a tandem move for a nearfall. The Embassy cut off Autumn Sunshine from the floor before Kaun sent Vincent into a Pounce. Kaun and Liona hit Open the Gates on Vincent for a nearfall that Archer broke up. Vincent and Kaun were left in the ring, and after several reversals, Kaun scored the win with a Pedigree.

After the match, Prince Nana proclaimed his men the greatest ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champions of all time. Nana said that the Bullet Club Gold brought up wanting more gold, but their leader Jay White couldn’t even beat Swerve Strickland in the Continental Classic. Nana laid out the challenge for Dynamite: The Mogul Embassy vs. Bullet Club Gold for the ROH World Six-Man Titles.

Presten Vance was backstage with Lexy Nair ahead of his International Title match against Orange Cassidy at Battle of the Belts. He was quickly interrupted by Roderick Strong & The Kingdom. Vance brushed off Strong’s good luck, saying that after he won tonight, he would kick Strong’s ass any day of the week.

Dustin Rhodes defeated Willie Mack

This one came out of nowhere, but it was good to see these two out there.

Rhodes and Mack traded shots, with Rhodes getting a nearfall off of his kneeling punch. Mack came back with chops before hitting a running kick and a standing moonsault for a nearfall. Mack hit a big thrust kick, but Rhodes avoided a frog splash. Rhodes hit a Canadian Destroyer and a snap powerslam for a nearfall. After some back and forth, Rhodes hit the Cross Rhodes and the Final Cut for the win.

Bullet Club Gold was backstage, noting how comfortable people have gotten without the Collision Cowboys around to keep everyone in check. They accepted the challenge from the Mogul Embassy for Dynamite.

Hook was shown entering the building.

Dustin Rhodes was backstage with Renee Paquette. Rhodes was quickly interrupted by Christian Cage & The Patriarchy. Cage said that anyone who was friends of Adam Copeland was an enemy of his. Rhodes challenged Cage to a TNT Title match on Dynamite. Cage said that it was a nice dream that would have been nicer if Dustin’s father was alive to see it. Cage said that everyone referred to Dustin’s father as a legend, but no one used that word for Dustin. Dustin told Cage to get ready.

[A nice, quick build up for another title match for this Wednesday, in what’s becoming a stacked episode of Dynamite.]

Hangman Adam Page defeated JD Drake (w/ Anthony Henry)

An awesome TV match, as Hangman scores a hard-fought win on TV. I’ll note that Swerve Strickland got a win on Rampage last night as well, as their fortunes seem to be tied to one another at the moment. I sound like a broken record with this point, but the Workhorsemen continue to have these impressive performances on Collision.

Page laid in the shots to Drake as Tony Schiavone announced that Hook has asked for a match tonight ahead of his World Title match on Dynamite. They tagged each other with forearms in the corner before Page hit the ten punches in the corner. Page hit a moonsault to a standing Drake before hitting a running Shooting Star Press for a nearfall. Page dropkicked Drake off of the apron into Henry, but Henry pulled Drake out of the way of a dive. Drake drilled Page with a rebound forearm as we went to a commercial break.

After the break, we saw Henry hitting a leg lariat to Page on the floor as Drake distracted the referee. Page low-bridged Drake to the apron, then dropkicked him down and hit a tope. Page hit a high crossbody for a nearfall. Page clobbered Drake with multiple clotheslines before hitting a Death Valley Driver for a nearfall. Page couldn’t get Drake up for a Deadeye, but back body dropped him up and over.

Page took a swing at Henry on the apron, but that led to Drake hitting a Magnum-style belly-to-belly on Page. Drake hit a cannonball in the corner, but Page moved out of the way of a moonsault. Page dropped an interfering Henry with a moonsault off the apron before hitting the Buckshot Lariat for the win.

Deonna Purrazzo defeated Red Velvet

Purrazzo looked very impressive here. She has a real snap to her offense that stood out to me. Red Velvet was also quite good here, as she’s grown on me since her return from injury.

The two traded armdrags before coming to a standoff. Velvet took Purrazzo down with a leg lariat for a nearfall. Velvet took Purrazzo around with a step-up armdrag, but Purrazzo snatched her into an armbar that forced Velvet into the ropes. Purrazzo countered a Velvet strike into a quick Koji clutch that Velvet got out of with a pin reversal.

Velvet snapped Purrazzo’s arm over the ropes before working on the arm. Velvet peppered Purrazzo with body shots before Purrazzo traded boots with Velvet. Purrazzo hit a Side Russian Leg Sweep before locking on a Fujiwara armbar. Velvet tried to counter it into a rollup, but Purrazzo kicked out and locked on the Venus Di Milo double arm submission for the win.

Hook defeated Kevin Matthews

Hook felt like he cooled off, but the challenge to Samoa Joe has heated him right back up. The crowd was all the way with him for this squash match.

Matthews went for a sneak attack on Hook, but Hook moved, sending Matthews into the FTW Title belt. Hook sent Matthews flying with a suplex before following him to the floor and suplexing him on the ropes. Hook hit the crossface strikes and locked on Redrum to score the quick win.

The House Of Black (Brody King, Buddy Matthews & Malakai Black) defeated Daniel Garcia & FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood)

This was a hell of a main event. FTR have solidified themselves as the Collision marathon men, consistently in these high-level main event matches on TV. The established trio scoring the win here made sense, but the end segment made it clear that these teams aren’t done with each other yet.

Matt Menard joined commentary as Harwood and Matthews started in the ring. Matthews was isolated in the corner but slipped past Garcia to get the tag out to Black. Garcia ducked a head kick before landing cross-legged to taunt Black. The good guys cleared the ring before they all sat cross-legged to taunt their opponents.

After a commercial, Garcia sent Matthews over the top rope with a hip toss. Wheeler and King tagged in, with Wheeler running wild. Wheeler and Harwood hammered King with lariats before taking him down with high-low clothelines. King screamed through strikes from Harwood before dropping him with a tree slam for a nearfall.

Harwood was isolated in the House of Black corner up through the next commercial break, with Matthews and Black hitting the lifting knee strikes for a nearfall. Harwood dropped Matthews with a DDT, then nutmegged Black to get the tag out to Black. Garcia ran wild, sending Matthews and Black to the floor. King went to choke Garcia out, but Garcia used King’s bad hand to take him out of the ring.

After a Wheeler dive, Garcia hit a brainbuster on Black for a nearfall. Garcia caught King in a guillotine choke, but King herked him up and over. FTR helped Garcia hit a triple-team spike piledriver. We got a move train that ended with Black dropping Garcia with a head kick. The House set up triple superplexes, but everyone fought out. Garcia took Black on his shoulders, leading to Harwood hitting the Steiner Super Bulldog for a nearfall.

FTR went for the Powerplex, but after Wheeler got knocked down, Garcia went up to take his place. Harwood hit the superplex, but Black got his knees up on Garcia’s splash. Black snatched on a kneebar on Harwood, forcing Harwood to fight to the ropes. The House took out Garcia and Wheeler on the outside, leaving Harwood and Black in the ring.

Black moonsaulted onto Garcia, and Matthews hitting a double powerbomb for a nearfall that Harwood flipped into a pin for a nearfall. Harwood hit a piledriver for a nearfall. The numbers became too much for Harwood, as after a King distraction from the apron, Black hit the Black Mass on Harwood. Matthews hit a Curb Stomp to follow up and score the win. After the match, the House of Black attacked Matt Menard before FTR and Garcia came back with chairs. FTR and Garcia hit a triple-team Shatter Machine to leave King lying.

As Collision came to an end, we saw Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara brawling with Ricky Starks & Big Bill outside of the building.

AEW Collision live results: Bryan Danielson vs. Ricky Starks Texas Death Match

A grudge match between Bryan Danielson and Ricky Starks takes place on tonight’s AEW Collision from Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Danielson and Starks are set to collide in a Texas Death Match. It’s the second stipulation match they’ve had against each other in recent weeks. At All Out, Danielson replaced CM Punk and defeated Starks in a strap match.

Starks & Big Bill defeated Danielson & Claudio Castagnoli in a tag team match on Collision last week.

The TNT Championship and AEW Tag Team titles will both be defended tonight. The TNT title is on the line in a three-way match featuring Luchasaurus, Christian Cage, and Darby Allin. FTR are giving The WorkHorsemen a shot at their tag titles.

In his home state, RVD will be back in the ring as he teams with Hook against Matt Menard & Angelo Parker.

Jay White vs. Andrade El Idolo is also part of tonight’s card. Our live coverage starts at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

The pre-show comments this week featured the competitors in the TNT Title match as well as the Texas Death Match. Kevin Kelly & Nigel McGuinness were on commentary.

AEW TNT Title Triple Threat Match – Christian Cage defeated Luchasaurus & Darby Allin to win the title

This was a great match, with Allin in constant motion to try and overcome the handicap situation. Luchasaurus finally holding the belt he had won on the first episode of Collision, only to lose it a few minutes later was funny. I’m in favor of Cage officially being the champion, as it was basically his anyway.

Cage immediately bailed out, telling Luchasaurus to handle Allin by himself. Allin threw powder in the eyes of Luchasaurus before diving onto Cage on the floor. Allin hit a Code Red on Cage before following up with another dive on Luchasaurus. Cage rung Allin’s neck on the ropes before Luchasaurus sent Allin into the barricades.

A chair was introduced to proceedings, with Christian sitting Allin on it before choking him on the ropes. Luchasaurus sent Allin and the chair flying with a German suplex before Cage sent Luchasaurus to the floor. Cage then sneaked in a cover but only got a two-count. Cage and Luchasaurus Irish whipped Allin into the stairs as we went to a commercial break.

Allin avoided corner charges from both Luchasaurus & Cage before landing a Scorpion Death Drop on Cage. Luchasaurus pulled Cage out of the ring, but Allin followed them out with a Coffin Drop to the floor. Allin fought out of a chokeslam and hit a Stunner out of the corner before hitting Cage with a shotgun dropkick.

Luchasaurus hit a chokeslam on Allin before grabbing the TNT Title, the first time he’s held the physical title since winning it. Cage asked for the belt back as the crowd chanted That’s Your Belt at Luchasaurus. Allin sent Cage into Luchasaurus before hitting Luchasaurus with the title belt for a nearfall. Allin hit a Coffin Drop on Luchasaurus, but Cage sent Allin to the floor. Cage then covered Luchasaurus to win the match and officially win the TNT Championship.

After the match, Luchasaurus looked dejected as Cage celebrated. Luchasaurus still lifted Cage up on his shoulders as Cage raised the belt overhead.

We got a video package recapping the segment from Rampage between The Don Callis Family, Chris Jericho, & Kenny Omega. We then cut to Alex Marvez with Don Callis, Konosuke Takeshita, & Sammy Guevara. Callis isn’t worried about Kota Ibushi, because he’s got a team of Guevara, Takeshita, & the man who has beaten both Omega & Jericho in the last two months – Will Ospreay. The six-man tag is official for WrestleDream, Jericho & the Golden Lovers vs. Guevara, Takeshita, & Ospreay.

Tony Schiavone was backstage with TNT Champion Christian Cage & Luchasaurus. Cage dedicated the win to Nick Wayne’s mother and late father, as he was sure they were rooting him on. Cage believed he was done with Allin, but Schiavone announced that Cage would be defending the title against Allin in a Two Out Of Three Falls match at WrestleDream in Seattle.

Hook & Rob Van Dam defeated Matt Menard & Angelo Parker (w/ Jake Hager & Anna Jay)

Hook started with Menard, who took Hook down with an armdrag and celebrated. Jay hooked the boot of Hook, which allowed Menard & Parker to attempt a double team. Hook avoided a corner charge before tagging in RVD to a hero’s welcome in his home state. RVD dropped Menard with a spin kick before taking Parker down with a springboard back kick. RVD went for a dive, but when his targets bailed, he chose to do his RVD taunt instead as we went to a commercial break.

When we came back from the commercial, Menard & Parker were getting dispatched by Hook. Parker cut off a tag to RVD, but Hook sent him flying with an exploder suplex. RVD got the tag and ran wild, hitting the Rolling Thunder on Parker. Hager tried getting involved with a chair, but RVD kicked it in his face. Hook caught Parker in the Redrum as RVD hit the Five Star Frog Splash to score the win.

We got a video package on Eddie Kingston’s ROH World Title victory from Dynamite: Grand Slam. Kingston then challenged ROH Pure Champion Katsuyori Shibata to a match for WrestleDream, with Kingston defending both the ROH World Title & NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship.

The Dark Order had another commercial. They said that they were good and that they would be there for you. Evil Uno then, in another language, said that they wouldn’t be there for us for long.

The Kingdom were backstage, upset at the Best Friends for costing them a shot at the ROH World Tag Team Titles. They challenged the Best Friends to a tag team match next week on Collision to honor Neck Health Awareness Month.

Julia Hart (w/ Brody King) defeated Kiera Hogan

The announcers explained that Willow Nightingale was scheduled to wrestle Hart after a run-in on Rampage, but Hart misted Nightingale before the show. Hogan took her place to get revenge for her friend.

Hogan came out hot, jumping Hart at the bell. Hart came back, dropping Hogan and hitting a standing moonsault for a nearfall. Hogan fired up, but Hart dodged a hip attack in the corner. Hart hit a rabbit lariat before locking on the Rings of Saturn to score the win.

She re-applied the hold after the match before Skye Blue came to stop the attack. Hart hid behind Brody King before misting Blue in the face. King took the microphone, noting Hart’s 25-match winning streak. He said the violence would continue until Hart avenged her last loss, which came at the hands of TBS Champion Kris Statlander. The challenge was made for the TBS Title at WrestleDream before Hart warned that the House always wins.

We got a recap on The Righteous winning the #1 contender match on Rampage: Grand Slam for an ROH World Tag Team Title match. We then got a video package on The Righteous, where they spoke in riddles about Adam Cole & MJF, their opponents at WrestleDream.

Jay White (w/ Juice Robinson & The Gunns) defeated Andrade El Idolo

This was a very good television version of this match, but I think these two have bigger and better in them. With the way the finish went, I wouldn’t be surprised if we got it sometime soon. I also like them putting two names of similar stature together and having a winner, albeit not a clean winner.

Andrade looked to have control in the opening salvo, but a Robinson distraction allowed White to hit a knee to the gut. Andrade got back in the driver’s seat, hitting a top rope crossbody before hitting two of the Three Amigos. White escaped the third but got dropkicked off the top rope to the floor for his troubles.

Back in the ring, White sent Andrade into the turnbuckles before snapping off a DDT for a nearfall. White hammered Andrade with chops before sending Andrade on the apron and sending him into the barricades as we went to a commercial break.

White held control on Andrade as we came back from the break. Andrade caught White in a small package for a quick nearfall, but White cut him off with a dropkick to the knee. Andrade fought his way through a set of chops before hammering White with a lariat. They traded chops before Andrade ripped off a pair of Dragon Screw Leg Whips. Andrade hit a flying forearm that would make Manny Fernandez proud before setting up the double knees in the corner.

The Gunns yanked White out of the ring, but Andrade followed with a moonsault to all four men on the floor. White avoided a moonsault, but Andrade followed immediately with a second moonsault for a nearfall. Andrade booted White, but White hit a Saito suplex over the ropes to the floor. White hit a big uranage for a nearfall. White caught an Andrade boot and stunned his leg, but Andrade came back with a vicious back elbow for a nearfall.

Andrade hit his double knees in the corner before hitting the hammerlock DDT. Robinson grabbed White’s boot and put it on the ropes to stop the count. Andrade didn’t hesitate to lock on the Figure Eight, but The Gunns took the referee’s attention. Robinson knocked Andrade out with his “Collision Cowboy of the Month” plaque. White then lifted the prone body of Andrade up and hit the Blade Runner for the win.

We got a video package of Ortiz, giving his side of the story after his confrontation with Mike Santana on Rampage. Ortiz said that Santana used him to get on the All In Wembley card, then avoided him in person. Santana talked trash about him on social media, but when Ortiz confronted him, he ran from his problems. Ortiz said that he wouldn’t be able to run much longer.

Shane Taylor & Lee Moriarty were backstage. Taylor talked about his history with Keith Lee, noting their successful team in Ring of Honor before Lee left to go “work for the other billionaire.” Taylor said that he stayed in Ring of Honor and became a legend in that promotion. Taylor said that he would put Lee in the ground to provide for his family, but before then, Lee would face off against Moriarty.

AEW World Tag Team Title Match – FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) defeated The WorkHorsemen (Anthony Henry & JD Drake) to retain

A short showcase for the Workhorsemen, who have been highlights of Ring of Honor television. They made the most of their time here, getting an incredibly convincing nearfall on the champs even with a booked title match for WrestleDream. I would love to see more of them on AEW television to give more depth to the tag team division.

Aussie Open came out and joined commentary for this match. Henry started with Wheeler. Henry used his speed to hit Wheeler with a dropkick. Drake and Harwood tagged in and leathered each other with chops. Henry came in and laid in kicks to Harwood, but Harwood came back with chops and a brainbuster. Drake tagged in and hit a Shining Wizard and a cannonball to Harwood.

Henry hit a double stomp to Harwood, with Drake following up with a moonsault for a close nearfall. Wheeler dropped Henry on the apron with a Gory Bomb. In the ring, Drake went for a hurricanrana but Harwood dropped him with a powerbomb. He locked on the Sharpshooter to win and retain the titles.

After the match, Mark Davis said that in eight days, FTR was in for the fight of their lives. Kyle Fletcher said that they haven’t lived up to the hype yet, which is why they made the challenge to FTR. Aussie Open wanted to prove that they are everything they say they are. Harwood took the mic, saying that Aussie Open had been sacrificial lambs to a pair of friends. He got on his hands and knees and begged Aussie Open to bring their best. He said if they didn’t, they might as well not bother showing up. Top Guys out.

Lexy Nair was backstage with The Hot and Flexible CJ, who talked about her husband Miro avoiding temptation. Miro entered, stating that CJ’s temptation was the spotlight. CJ said that she loved the grind. Miro said that his path was salvation and that she might end up in his way. CJ understood before asking Miro to stay away from any future clients of hers. Miro left without responding.

We got a rundown of the Dynamite card, with the addition of Willow Nightingale vs. Julia Hart. Next week on Collision, we will get Andrade El Idolo vs. Juice Robinson, as well as The Kingdom vs. Best Friends. We then got a commercial for WrestleDream before Kevin Kelly ran down the card, with Kris Statlander vs. Julia Hart for the TBS Championship made official.

Texas Death Match – Bryan Danielson defeated Ricky Starks

Danielson and Starks have fantastic chemistry, and it displayed itself here in this vicious and bloody main event. Starks looked to be burying the hatchet post-match, but Wheeler Yuta shut it down. Starks may not be done with the BCC just yet.

Jim Ross joined commentary for the main event. The rules were Last Man Standing-style rules, with the man who couldn’t answer a ten-count losing.

Starks jumped Danielson at the bell. Danielson sent Starks to the floor and hit a dive before sending Starks into the crowd. Danielson dumped a garbage can onto Starks before laying in kicks as Starks laid on the stairs. The two men brawled through the crowd before getting back to ringside. Starks whipped Danielson into the front row before hitting a springboard dive onto Danielson and staff members at ringside.

After a commercial break, Starks bloodied up Danielson after sending him into the announce table cover multiple times. A replay showed Starks drilling Danielson in the head with the ring bell. Watch that throat Starks, you don’t want Ricky Steamboat back out here. Starks wrapped Danielson’s knee around the post before hitting the knee with a chair. Starks went to Pillmanize Danielson’s ankle, but Danielson took the chair and hammered Starks with it.

Danielson met Starks on the top rope, where Starks bit Danielson’s wound. Starks took a second to pose, which allowed Danielson to hit a Spider Suplex out of the corner. Danielson followed up with a shotgun dropkick off the top rope before clubbing Starks with big kicks. Danielson loaded up for the Busaiku Knee, but Starks flung the chair into Danielson’s face. Starks taunted Danielson as we went to another commercial.

Starks had a steel chain as we came back, but Danielson avoided a shot and laid in kicks to the midsection. Starks came back with a spear before attempting to choke Danielson out with the chain. Starks relented to allow for a count. Danielson got up at nine, so Starks hung Danielson over his back. Danielson used the turnbuckles to vaunt over Starks, then caught Starks in the LeBell Lock.

Starks tried to use the chain to punch his way free, but Danielson grabbed the chain and wrapped it around Danielson’s neck. Starks looked to be fading, but powered up and punched his way out. Danielson reversed mount and forearmed and headbutted Starks before they both were down. Danielson hit the Busaiku Knee on Starks as Starks held a chair. Danielson then stomped Starks in the face and bloodied his mouth. Danielson hit the Busaiku Knee with the chain wrapped around his knee to knock Starks out and score the win.

After the match, Wheeler Yuta and Big Bill came in to check on their men. Starks looked to be reaching for a handshake when Yuta shoved him away. Big Bill got in his face, but cooler heads prevailed as the show faded out.

During this match, a four-way tag team match was announced for WrestleDream. The Young Bucks vs. The Lucha Brothers vs. The Gunns vs. Hook & Orange Cassidy, with the winners getting the next shot at the AEW World Tag Team Titles.

**********

Our cold open videos saw comments from Danielson & Castagnoli, Big Bill & Ricky Starks, the competitors in the TBS Title match, John Silver, & Anthony Bowens. Elton John played us in before Kevin Kelly & Nigel McGuinness introduced the opening match.

Big Bill & Ricky Starks defeated Bryan Danielson & Claudio Castagnoli

This was a hot opener. Big Bill fits right in with these top names as a formidable big man. Starks and Danielson have incredible chemistry in the ring together, and the finish of this match signals more from these two down the line.

The camera focused on Big Bill’s boots, which were still stained with Jon Moxley’s blood from Dynamite. Bill started the match with Danielson, overpowering him to start. Danielson hammered Bill’s leg with kicks before Bill shoved Danielson into the corner, where Castagnoli tagged in. Castagnoli matched Bill in power, hammering him with uppercuts. Bill took both Danielson & Castagnoli down with a double clothesline – no crowd call – before tagging in Starks.

Starks clubbered on Danielson in the corner before getting cocky. That allowed Danielson to fire up with heavy strikes in the corner before taking Starks down with a hurricanrana. Starks took Danielson down with a shoulder block before tagging Bill, who crushed Danielson with a splash in the corner. Danielson blocked a second splash, but after a Starks distraction, Bill booted Danielson to the floor as we went to a commercial.

Danielson dropped Starks with a running lariat as we came back from break. Dual tags led to Castagnoli clubbering Bill with eighteen lariats in the corner. After two earlier attempts, Castagnoli finally got Bill off of his feet and hit a TKO. Castagnoli teased the Giant Swing, but Bill fought out and hit a chokeslam for a nearfall. Starks tagged in, but Castagnoli caught him in the Giant Swing.

Castagnoli transitioned into a Sharpshooter, but Bill booted him off. Danielson sent Bill to the floor, leading Castagnoli to get a nearfall on Starks with an uppercut. Danielson tagged in and hit the body kicks, but Starks avoided the LeBell Lock. Bill got a cheap shot in, leading to Starks hitting a spear for a nearfall.

Castagnoli and Bill brawled over the barricade, leaving Danielson and Starks in the ring. Starks countered a back superplex for a nearfall. Starks pushed the referee and hit a low blow on Danielson before hitting the Rochambeau for the tainted win.

We got a recap of the recent history between The Elite & the Mogul Embassy before we cut to The Young Bucks & Hangman Page backstage. They accepted the challenge of the Mogul Embassy for a match at Grand Slam but raised the stakes by challenging for the ROH World Six-Man Titles. The title match was confirmed for the two-hour Rampage: Grand Slam next Friday.

Powerhouse Hobbs said the next chapter of the Book of Hobbs was titled Destruction. He wasn’t talking about armbars, he was talking about ripping arms off. No one was safe. I still don’t like the Book of Hobbs being a physical book, but this was a good promo.

Meanwhile, Miro said that he didn’t humble Powerhouse Hobbs, so their paths must cross again. He yelled at God for trying to tempt him with his hot and flexible wife – the yet-to-be-named CJ Perry – and said that anyone who got in his way would be destroyed.

AEW World Tag Team Title Match – FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) (c) defeated Iron Savages (Boulder & Bronson) (w/ Jacked Jameson)

Jacked Jameson talked trash to Harwood, leading to him getting hit with the Shatter Machine. The Savages quickly isolated Wheeler, hitting two splashes for a nearfall. They hit another combination that ended with a Bronson tree slam for a nearfall. Wheeler dodged a corner attack and tagged in Harwood, but Harwood got knocked down by Boulder.

Harwood got overwhelmed by Boulder’s strength. Boulder went for a step-up moonsault, but Harwood moved out of the way. FTR hit the Shatter Machine on Bronson before hitting the Powerplex on Boulder to score the win.

After the match, The Work Horsemen (JD Drake & Anthony Henry) made their way to the ring. They shook hands with FTR, signaling a future title challenge. Aussie Open was seen backstage watching on.

In a pre-tape that wasn’t cut at the beginning, Lexy Nair was backstage with Keith Lee. He was immediately interrupted by Shane Taylor & Lee Moriarty. Taylor introduced Moriarty as the newest member of Shane Taylor Promotions before making it clear that he wasn’t scared of Lee.

John Silver defeated Anthony Bowens

Silver grabbed the microphone before the match started. He noted that The Acclaimed were scissoring wrong according to his research. He also noted according to the match contract, Caster and Gunn were banned from ringside. Bowens handled the match just fine on his own, forcing Silver to bail early on. Silver sent Bowens to the floor with a high kick before we went to the commercial.

Bowens took Silver down with a strike combination as we came back from the break. Bowens hit the jumping fameasser for a nearfall. The two men traded strikes before Bowens leveled Silver with a lariat. Silver avoided a corner charge and hit a strike combination that ended with a delayed fisherman’s suplex for a nearfall.

Bowens hit an Ushigoroshi and a rolling forearm that sent Silver to the floor. Bowens sent Silver back into the ring, but Evil Uno came out from under the ring to send Bowens into the post. Silver then hit a punt kick to score the win.

Eddie Kingston was backstage, talking about the history between himself and Claudio Castagnoli. Kingston said that Castagnoli left potholes in the road to the top, which is why he holds a grudge against him. He also said that he’s tried fixing the issues between him and Jon Moxley, but no matter those issues, he’ll finish the issues with Castagnoli in New York. New York has always had Eddie’s back, and they will have his back at Grand Slam. This was a great promo for Wednesday’s double-title match.

Renee Paquette was backstage with Hook & Orange Cassidy. They agreed to have a tag team match at Grand Slam while sharing a bag of chips.

Aussie Open (Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis) defeated PB Smooth & Wes Barkley

If you’ve never seen the Aussie Open/FTR match from last October, I cannot recommend it enough as it was one of the best tag team matches of 2022. It’s currently free on New Japan’s YouTube channel. AEW running the rematch in Seattle for WrestleDream should be fantastic. They got lucky with it landing on the exact one-year anniversary.

The two men weren’t named, but I’ve seen their work on the independent scene. Aussie Open scored a quick win, hitting Barkley with a pendulum spinebuster.

After the match, they called out FTR. They noted their quick wins as of late, winning on Rampage and tonight in less than a minute. Fletcher noted that they have won the same titles that FTR has won, both the ROH and IWGP Tag Team Titles. Fletcher made the challenge to FTR – titles or not – for WrestleDream on October 1st, one year to the day after their acclaimed match at NJPW Royal Quest II.

RJ City sat with Toni Storm in a sit-down interview. Storm complained about the lighting before noting that the business had changed. She thought wrestling was about being stars and making money, not signing every little girl with a sob story. Storm has been very funny in this role. The interview will be continued.

We got a short video from Scorpio Sky, who noted that returning from back-to-back injuries would be tough. Having been a three-time champion in AEW though, Sky wasn’t afraid to do the tough work.

Andrade El Idolo defeated Scorpio Sky

The crowd was audibly ignoring this match at the start, doing a Penn State chant as these two locked up. But these two got the crowd into things after the break. Andrade vs. Jay White is an intriguing matchup, and depending on Andrade’s affiliation with La Faccion Ingobernable, could lead to a big-time unit rivalry.

Sky got very little reaction on his entrance. The two went back and forth before Andrade tied Sky up in the ropes and hit a dragon screw leg whip. Andrade went to the top rope, but Sky shoved him down back-first on the apron as we went to the commercial.

Andrade fought out of a hold as we came back from the break. Sky booted Andrade down, but Andrade fired up and went after the knee with more dragon screws. Andrade went for the double knees, but Sky cut him off and hit a sunset flip for a nearfall. Sky hit a dive to the floor, but back in the ring, Andrade drilled Sky with a back elbow. Sky countered a hammerlock DDT with a small package for a nearfall, but Andrade went back to the knee. Andrade locked on the Figure Eight and scored the submission win.

After the match, Bullet Club Gold made their way to the stage. Jay White noted how Andrade had his eyes on Bullet Club Gold last week. White believed that Andrade wanted the Switchblade spotlight, so he challenged Andrade to a match to show that this was still the Switchblade Era. White feigned wanting a fight right now, but security quickly broke things up.

We got a video package on the history between Kota Ibushi & Kenny Omega, and Konosuke Takeshita’s goal of taking out Ibushi to stick it to Omega.

Tony Schiavone was backstage with ROH Pure Champion Katsuyori Shibata. Imagine telling someone that five years ago. Schiavone noted that Shibata would be defending the Pure Title this Thursday on Honor Club against Nick Wayne. Shibata noted – through a translation app – that he would be competing at WrestleDream.

The Righteous (Dutch & Vincent) defeated The Hardys (Jeff Hardy & Matt Hardy)

The Righteous got some impressive heat in what was essentially their AEW television debut.

Vincent started with Matt. Matt drove Vincent into the turnbuckles before tagging Jeff. The Hardys low-bridged Dutch to the floor before hitting a tag team combination for a nearfall. They hit Poetry In Motion, but Vincent cut off a Twist of Fate attempt. Dutch made a blind tag before surprising Matt with a Black Hole Slam for a nearfall.

After the commercial, Jeff tagged in and ran wild on both men. Vincent cut off a Whisper in the Wind attempt, but Jeff hit a Twist of Fate. The Hardys sent Dutch to the floor before Matt hit another Twist of Fate. Dutch cut off a Swanton Bomb and sent Matt into the stairs. Vincent hit Autumn Sunshine on Jeff to score the win.

After the match, Dutch grabbed the microphone and introduced themselves to the booing crowd. Vincent said that the world was fooled by false idols and conmen. He said that they don’t believe in the Devil, and they don’t believe in the friendship between MJF & Adam Cole.

We got a rundown of the Dynamite: Grand Slam card, with Claudio Castagnoli talking about his issues with Eddie Kingston. He said that he was tired of being slandered by Kingston, and that Grand Slam will be their final chapter.

We then got a rundown of the Rampage: Grand Slam, with The Acclaimed vs. The Dark Order for the AEW Trios Titles added to the card.

Next week on Collision, Jay White vs. Andrade El Idolo was made official, as well as the AEW Tag Team Title match, FTR vs. The Work Horsemen. Rob Van Dam was also announced to return to the ring in his home state of Michigan.

For the WrestleDream PPV on October 1st, FTR vs. Aussie Open was made official before we got a video package for Bryan Danielson vs. Zack Sabre Jr.

Tony Schiavone was backstage with Ricky Starks & Big Bill. He was upset at the video package between Danielson & Sabre and his lack of a match at WrestleDream. He challenged Bryan Danielson to a Texas Death Match for next week’s Collision.

AEW TBS Title Match – Kris Statlander (c) defeated Dr. Britt Baker DMD

This was a great main event, as the Penn State crowd was loudly behind Baker. The match itself was very good, with Baker scoring some close nearfalls before Statlander found a way to survive and retain. A quality episode of Collision.

Baker came out to a big reaction, as this show was on the campus of Penn State, her alma mater. Statlander overpowered Baker, forcing her to the floor. Baker came back and traded forearms before Statlander looked to jam her knee on an up-and-over out of the corner. Statlander was able to push off a Slingblade and hit a powerslam of her own for a nearfall as we went to a commercial.

Statlander fought Baker off of the top rope as we came back from the commercial. Baker moved out of the way of a moonsault and rung up Statlander’s neck on the top rope. Baker slammed both of Statlander’s knees against the ring post before hitting a pair of Slingblades. Statlander countered a neckbreaker with a Blue Thunder Bomb for a nearfall. Statlander hit a twisting fisherman’s buster for a nearfall.

Baker avoided a scissor kick and hit a curb stomp for a nearfall. Baker pulled out the glove, but received no love as Statlander rolled her up for a nearfall. Baker hit La Mistica and went for the Lockjaw, but Statlander grabbed the hand and fought to her feet. They traded forearms and kicks before Statlander took Baker down with a lariat.

Statlander forced Baker into the corner, but Baker avoided the running knee. Statlander countered a Panama Sunrise, but Baker hit a traditional Canadian Destroyer. She followed with the Angel’s Wings and another curb stomp for a nearfall. Baker went for another Panama Sunrise, but Statlander caught her in position for Saturday Night Fever. Baker transitioned into the Rings of Saturn before locking in the Lockjaw. Statlander rocked Baker back onto her shoulders to score the flash pin and retain the title. As Statlander was celebrating, Julia Hart was seen watching from the crowd. Statlander and Baker shook hands as we went off the air.
