Triple H has commented on The Undertaker’s role with AAA.
On Sunday, one day after AAA Triplemania, Triple H posted a video to social media commenting on the event. In it, he says he never imagined The Undertaker would one day become an influential figure in lucha libre.
Triple H said:
“You know, if you’d have told me 20 years ago that one of the big driving forces behind AAA in Mexico would be the Undertaker, it would have been hard for me to, sort of, wrap my head around that.”
The video is available here and at the end of this article.
In June, Konnan revealed on his podcast that Taker had been backstage at AAA events, saying he believes Taker is hoping work in creative for WWE.
“I think that Undertaker wants to get into creative,” Konnan said on the show. “He was in creative at Money in the Bank, he was in the other one, and I think he’s very interested in being part of the creative team.”
Taker was also backstage at Worlds Collide in June, which may have been “the other one” Konnan referred to above.
Jelly Roll also recently commented on The Undertaker and Michelle McCool helping him prepare for his SummerSlam match with Randy Orton against Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul, saying both spent hours giving him pointers at the WWE Performance Center.
“Undertaker comes in with Michelle, his wife, and they come in and say, ‘Hey, we just want to watch for a minute, just kind of chill, is that cool?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, for sure.’ This is who he is as a human. The entire three-hour session, he and his wife stood on those ropes and just gave me pointer after pointer.”
AAA fans would like to see Alberto El Patron return to the promotion.
Last night during Triplemania, fans chanted for El Patron as Rey Mysterio was in the ring to induct Konnan into the AAA Hall of Fame. Mysterio acknowledged the chants and responded in Spanish, telling the crowd something to the effect of, “I’ll bring him. Wait on me.”
A clip of Mysterio responding to the chants is available here and also at the end of this article.
El Patron was recently banished from the promotion after losing to El Mesias at AAA’s show in Mexico City on July 25. The match carried the stipulation that if El Patron lost, he would have to leave the company.
El Patron lost the AAA Mega Championship to El Hijo del Vikingo on May 31, a little over a month after WWE announced it was purhcasing the company. Earlier this month, our own Dave Meltzer addressed his standing with WWE in the August 4, 2025, edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Meltzer wrote:
“As of right now, there are no plans for Alberto El Patron in the U.S. market. But that could change. The belief is he will return to AAA soon. There are those in WWE who do want him on the main roster as they see his work as excellent in AAA (his matches are nothing but he does carry himself like a major superstar), since he was the most over guy and see him now as a guy who can be a major heel on the main roster or the top face on the AAA roster. However there is the negative baggage, including the social media reaction to him. That led to them taking the title off him and going with El Hijo del Vikingo, who the original idea would be the world champion and face of the Mexico promotion and also get exposure on major WWE television in an initial idea.”
The fans in Mexico were chanting for Alberto Del Rio, and Rey Mysterio said he will bring him back.
Last night at Triplemania, Finn Balor debuted a new demon-inspired puppet named Demonito during an in-ring moment with Mr. Iguana and his plush iguana doll, La Yesca.
JBL was on commentary as Balor unveiled the puppet and shouted, “It’s him, it’s him, he’s here! Oh my God, run for the exits! Demonito, it’s Demonito! We’re all doomed!”
Balor then used Demonito to rip La Yesca off of Iguana’s hand. This led to Nino Hamburguesa offering Balor and Demonito some hamburgers before Iguana got back involved in the match.
WWE has since released a replica version of Demonito on WWE Shop for the price of $99.99 USD.
“Made of a super soft plush material, this Finn Balor “Demonito” Replica Plush Puppet will make the perfect gift for any fan of the WWE Universe! Bring home a piece of the ring with this figure of one of the world’s finest Superstars.”
Demonito joins La Yesca, Lilly, Charly (Charlotte Flair’s doll), and Harley Cameron’s mini Mone as puppets currently active in wrestling.
Get your very own DEMONITO just like @FinnBalor! 😈
It’s the Saturday Wrestling Observer Live with Jim Valley.
This weekend has an international flavor with Friday’s TNA Emergence, Saturday’s TripleMania & the finals of the G1 Climax tournament, AEW Collision, NOAH, and the main event of CMLL’s 91st Anaversario card set.
Meanwhile, Friday’s WWE SmackDown felt like a lot of the same wrestlers doing the same things against the same opponents and the same outcomes. There’s a lot of top quality talent, but I feel like I’ve seen it again and again.

After reporting in July that WWE has discussed Omos having a run in Lucha Libre AAA, WrestleVotes notes that Omos could potentially make his AAA debut this Saturday at Triplemania.
TMZ’s Hulk Hogan documentary averaged 1.004 million viewers on Fox on Tuesday night. In the 18-49 demo, the broadcast drew a 0.13 rating, which ranked ninth among all TV programming in prime time. WWE NXT was tied for second with a 0.17 rating.
Brooke Hogan was spotted getting emotional on a walk in Orlando, Florida earlier this week, with TMZ writing that they were told “Brooke got emotional seeing the sunset … it reminded her of her father, and she was telling her husband how much Hulk would have loved it.”
Regarding its offerings, the streamer’s ads leader said clients were looking forward to live programming, including WWE Raw, with Netflix partnering with DoorDash as the presenting sponsor for the new season.
On Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Sheamus named some of the dream guests he’d like to have on his Celtic Warrior Workouts YouTube show:
Roman [Reigns], obviously, would be a huge one. Rock obviously, Stone Cold. I tried to get Stone Cold during Mania, but I guess he just had knee surgery or something like that. But I want to start doing a lot of the legends now as well. I’d love to get Sting on there, or Taker. Taker keeps running away from me. He’s been scared of me his whole career, keeps calling me Stiffy all the time. Triple H, we talked about that. Stephanie McMahon, listen what really works for me if you guys absolutely spam their Twitter handles out of it and tell them you want to see them in Celtic Warrior Workouts, that makes my job so much easier if you guys just go out there, because then it helps me when I go to them and they agree. So spam them guys, spam the hell out of them.
Amateur wrestling legend Greg Wojciechowski – who competed in pro wrestling as “The Great Wojo” – has passed away at 73 years old.
Tony Khan thanked everyone who watched last night’s AEW Dynamite, which ranked first on cable in the 18-49 demo: “Thank you all who made Wednesday Night #AEWDynamite on the Superstation @TBSNetwork the NUMBER ONE show on cable last night! AEW is having a tremendous 2025, thanks to the incredible AEW wrestlers, company staff, + you all watching the shows! See you at #AEWCollision Saturday!”
TNA wrestler KC Navarro shared that surgery to repair his torn ACL was a success: “Just to Update Everyone; My surgery was a complete success! Now the road to recovery begins. Thank you for all the love thoughts and Prayers! Join me on my journey of recovery! I’ll need y’all more than ever LFG”
After making her Lucha Libre AAA debut last month, Natalya is heading back to Mexico to compete at Triplemania.
It was confirmed today that gold will be on the line in a three-way match at the Saturday, August 16 Triplemania event. The bout will see Lady Flammer defend her AAA Reina de Reinas Championship against both Natalya and Faby Apache.
— Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (@luchalibreaaa) August 7, 2025
Natalya signed a new multi-year contract with WWE last year and has been competing everywhere the company will allow since then, including appearances for Bloodsport, the NWA, AAA, and Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling. Not content with just taking a paycheck, Natalya has said she loves her job and wants to continue proving herself.
Her AAA debut was at a July TV taping where Natalya & Lola Vice defeated Dalys & Chik Tormenta and Faby Apache & Lady Shani.
Flammer has been Reina de Reinas Champion for two years now after winning the belt from Taya Valkyrie in August 2023.
With WWE in the process of acquiring Lucha Libre AAA, Triplemania will air live on WWE’s YouTube channel in both English and Spanish. The show is being held in Mexico City at Arena CDMX.

Rey Mysterio is set to play a role at Lucha Libre AAA Triplemania later this month, inducting one of his best friends into the company’s Hall of Fame.
Mysterio sent out a tweet today announcing that he will induct Konnan into the AAA Hall of Fame at Triplemania on Saturday, August 16. The show is taking place in Mexico City and will air live on WWE’s YouTube channel in both English and Spanish.
“It’s an honor for me to induct my brother @Konnan5150 into the Hall of Fame this August 16th at TripleMania!! @luchalibreaaa,” Mysterio wrote.
The AAA Hall of Fame was first established in 2007 and includes Mysterio as a member.
Konnan has been a friend and mentor to Mysterio for decades, and Mysterio is now returning the favor for Konnan after Konnan helped induct him into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2023.
A superstar in Mexico, Konnan also had success in the United States for WCW. He’s been a key backstage player in Mexico as the booker of AAA.
WWE announced its acquisition of AAA this April ahead of the companies presenting a Worlds Collide event together in Los Angeles in June. Konnan was one of the commentators for the show, which also featured an appearance by Mysterio. A torn groin has sidelined Mysterio since April, but he could be back soon with Mysterio targeting August for a return to the ring.
Rey’s son Dominik Mysterio will be competing in the main event of Triplemania. It’s a four-way match with El Hijo del Vikingo defending the AAA Mega Championship against Dominik, Dragon Lee, and El Grande Americano.

AAA has announced a big show for Monterrey this June.
AAA Triplemania XXXIII Regia is scheduled for Sunday, June 15, 2025, at Arena Monterrey. It will mark the fifth Triplemania event to be held in Monterrey, often referred to by its nickname, La Ciudad Regia (The Regal City).
AAA announced the news via social media on Wednesday.
¡Prepárate para gritar, brincar, emocionarte y vivir la lucha libre como nunca! 💥
Triplemanía Regia llegará para encender la sultana del norte con un evento magno de otro nivel. 🤯
— Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (@luchalibreaaa) April 23, 2025
Just two days later and roughly 560 miles away, AEW will make its Mexican debut in partnership with CMLL, running a show from Arena Mexico in Mexico City on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.
AAA’s first shows under WWE ownership are set for next month, with dates scheduled for May 3 in Mexico City, May 4 in Nuevo León, and May 18 in Saltillo.
The inaugural Triplemania Regia took place at Estadio Mobil Super in December 2021. The next three editions were also held at the same venue, airing in April 2022, April 2023, and April 2024. This year’s installment will move to a new venue, with the show taking place at Arena Monterrey.
The June 15 event is the second Triplemania show announced for 2025. Triplemania XXXIII in Mexico City is set for Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Arena CDMX.
Wrestling Observer Live with Bryan Alvarez and Mike Sempervive is back to talk all the big news and show of the weekend, injuries to Callis, Bayley and Elton Prince, Battle of the Belts, Collision, Smackdown, NOAH and AAA and tons more. A fun show as always so check it out~!
AAA Mega Champion El Hijo del Vikingo will defend his title against former champion Kenny Omega in the main event of tonight’s AAA Triplemania from Tijuana.
The match was originally slated to happen in AAA in 2021, but Omega’s injury-related absence from wrestling put that on pause. That was until a March episode of AEW Dynamite when the two faced off in what was billed as a dream match. Omega picked up the victory in one of the most-discussed matches of this year.
Another highlight of the card will see L.A. Park & Rush vs. Psycho Clown & Sam Adonis where the losers will square off in a hair vs. mask match at the final Triplemania of the year in Mexico City. Last month, Rush had claimed he was leaving the company, but then announced this week he would be there after all.
Among the other bouts on the show, Pentagon Jr. will take on QT Marshall in an ambulance match.

Show Report —
They did the typical Peña remembrance Triplemanía opening ceremony. Hugo Savinovich and José Manuel Guillen were on the call.
La Hiedra won Copa Triplemanía
This was just a match to get everyone on the card. It’s a delayed entry elimination match.
Gringo Loco and Jack Cartwheel were the first two entries, followed by Myzteziz Jr., who took them both down with tijeras. Dinámico was in next. He completely whiffed on a crucifix bomb against Myzteziz but recovered to hit a sweet step-up cutter on Cartwheel.
Niño Hamburguesa came in and crushed Dinámico with a senton. Willie Mack followed, but during his entrance, Argenis ran out and eliminated Myzteziz. Las Tóxicas (La Hiedra & Flammer) came out together. A surprise entry was Rey Misterio El Heredero, who is the WWE Rey Mysterio’s cousin.
To this point, the match had been pretty much all entrances. Mr. Iguana, a fan favorite, was next, followed by Laredo Kid. Laredo Kid decided to actually bring some wrestling to this match, taking out Iguana before having a good exchange with frequent opponent Gringo Loco.
Puma King’s entrance made it more than 10 people in the ring at once. Taurus came in next and took out like a half dozen people. The timer stopped, so I guess he’s the final entrant. Antifaz Del Norte came out and distracted Laredo Kid, which led to them brawling in the crowd.
Gringo Loco was eliminated followed by Misterio. Hiedra pinned Dinámico with a cutter, then she and Iguana worked together to eliminate Taurus. The alliance was short-lived as Flammer dumped Iguana over the top rope.
They took a break to let Mack dance, then the Tóxicas eliminated both Mack and Cartwheel. They were the final three alongside Puma. An assist from Iguana allowed the Tóxicas to pin Puma, meaning they were the final two and had to fight.
Flammer avoided a senton atómico, but Iguana tripped her up, allowing Hiedra to eliminate her for the win.

Team México (Dalys, Lady Shani, & Sexy Star II) defeated Team Rest of World (Kamille, Viva Van, & Natalia Markova)
The Mexican team established control early on until their opponents moved out of the way of a Sexy Star dive, allowing Viva Van to take advantage with a dive of her own. There was a good extended Dalys vs. Kamille sequence towards the middle of the match — those two are probably the best wrestlers on their respective teams.
Kamille climbed the ropes, but Sexy Star cut her off and landed a superplex. A German suplex from Sexy Star to Viva Van got two, and then we got a parade of big moves. Kamille and Markova hit a doomsday dropkick on Sexy Star, but Dalys broke up the pin. A facebuster from Dalys got two in return.
Dalys locked in a submission on Markova, but then Hiedra (who just won the Copa Triplemanía) came out and attacked Dalys with a cookie sheet. They brawled all over as Sexy Star took out Kamille with a crossbody to the outside.
Shani had Markova pinned, but Hijo del Tirantes gave a slow count, so Shani just beat him up. Viva Van landed diving knees and got a visible pinfall but there was no ref to count. Tirantes himself ran out and counted a Shani Northern Lights suplex three for the win.
– After the match, there was some nonsense with Tirantes and his son. Tirantes said his son didn’t have any respect for lucha libre and slapped him and whipped him with his belt.

Vampiro, Jack Evans, & Aramis vs. Pagano & La Rebélion (Bestia 666 & Mecha Wolf) went to a no contest
The story here is that Pagano and Vampiro are feuding. Evans outwrestled Mecha Wolf at the start, then Aramis did the same to Bestia 666. Pagano and Vampiro had their first encounter before Aramis came out of nowhere to level Pagano with a dive. Mecha Wolf followed up with a dive of his own.
Pagano’s team maintained control for a while. Aramis made a nice one-man comeback before Evans helped him even the odds. A sick double team between the two got two. Pagano got involved and hit a backbreaker on Aramis for two. La Rebélion hit a double team facebuster on Evans for two, then an assisted backstabber on Aramis for two more.
Music started to play, and it was Komander and Arez, the current AAA tag team champions. They attacked La Rebélion.
Pagano and Vampiro were left in the ring. They had an awful sequence — Vampiro can’t do anything anymore. Taurus then came out with a masked man and they attacked Pagano. The masked man unmasked to reveal himself as a returning Texano Jr. I guess the match ended?
– After the match, Texano said that he and Taurus are the new Mercenarios.

Team Baja (Nicho El Millionario, Damian 666, Rey Horus, & Xtreme Tiger) (w/ Brandon Moreno) defeated Team Chilango (Negro Casas, Chessman, Daga, & Argenis)
Nicho El Millionario is Psicosis from ECW/WCW. His team was accompanied by UFC fighter Brandon Moreno, fresh off a loss.
They all paired off early on. Horus landed a corner tope on Argenis. The 63-year-old Negro Casas and 61-year-old Damian 666 fought each other. Nicho bloodied Negro Casas with a chair shot to the head. Casas returned the favor in the ring.
There was a parade of big moves with dives and signature offense all around. Horus took out the pile with an inverted tornillo. Moreno attacked Daga in the ring and locked him in an armbar before Casas broke it up.
Nicho low blowed Casas with the official distracted for the win.

QT Marshall defeated Pentagón Jr. in an Ambulance Match
Penta dominated early until QT ripped at his mask and smashed him with a chair, bloodying him. He broke light tubes over Penta’s head. They brawled into the crowd and the action became kind of hard to see for a while.
Back in the ring, QT handcuffed Penta’s hands together. He attempted to strike him with a barbed wire-wrapped chair, but Penta avoided it and was able to choke QT with the handcuffs. He was freed and returned fire on QT with the chair.
Penta broke a light tube over QT’s back. Both men were bloodied bad at this point. QT produced a bag of thumbtacks and dumped them over the canvas. Penta countered a cutter and sent QT back-first into the tacks, then shoved them in QT’s mouth and thrust kicked him.
QT fired back with a pop-up powerbomb onto the tacks. He walked Penta to the crowd area where the ambulance was set up and fought his way out of the vehicle with a destroyer. They set up some tables and climbed some boxes, but there was some miscommunication as they mostly whiffed on a Penta attempt to put QT through them with a package piledriver.
Penta was about to win, but Aaron Solo appeared in the ambulance and sprayed a fire extinguisher in Penta’s face before smashing him with a light tube. The Diamond Cutter followed, allowing QT to put Penta in the ambulance and win.

Guerra de Rivalidades finals: L.A. Park & Rush vs. Psycho Clown & Sam Adonis went to a no contest
The losing team will face each other in an apuesta match at the next Triplemanía show.
Rush and Adonis started the match by attacking their own partners and trying to unmask them. Rush broke a bottle and cut open Park’s forehead. Adonis laid in chair shots on Psycho.
The heels beat down their babyface partners for a long, long time. Eventually, Psycho and Park made comebacks on their partners. Psycho perched Adonis up on a chair and landed a flip dive off the stage.
Having taken control, Park and Psycho decided to do the right thing and fight it out against each other in the ring. After an exchange, the rudos came in and decided to fight too. They traded chops before Adonis hit a Rainmaker and Rush, like, halfway kicked out.
Adonis hit a blockbuster for two. Rush feinted on the Bull Horns and decided to do the Ingobernables pose instead. Psycho re-entered the fray with an Orihara moonsault onto both men, then Park hit a crazy plancha onto everyone.
Psycho rolled up Park for a good near fall. Rush came in and attacked everyone (including Tirantes, the official) with a chair, but Park took him out with a spear. Rush low blowed Park and Adonis blew a fireball in Psycho’s face, allowing Rush to pin Psycho for the win.
…or so we thought! After the match, Tirantes went to the announcers’ booth called the match a draw, and booked these four in a four-way apuesta match for the next Triplemanía show.

AAA Mega Championship: Hijo del Vikingo (c) defeated Kenny Omega
Before the match, Don Callis showed up, but Konnan kicked him out.
Vikingo wasted no time getting to the high-flying, but was quickly cut off with an Omega knee that countered a tope suicida. Omega beat him down at ringside. He mocked Vikingo, putting on the viking mask as he continued to beat him down.
There was a long heat segment. Vikingo eventually flipped out of a German attempt and dropped Omega with an enzuigiri and a springboard dive. Omega rolled out of the way of a frog splash. He hit the first part of You Can’t Escape before adjusting to land a powerslam for two.
A powerbomb into a V-Trigger got two. Vikingo escaped a One-Winged Angel attempt but ran into a V-Trigger. Omega went for the avalanche One-Winged Angel, but Vikingo escaped and hit a powerslam and a spinning kick.
Vikingo hit his inverted 450 to the outside but landed hard on the ground. He then hit a corkscrew 450 back into the ring for a near fall. The inverted 450 followed, but Omega managed to kick out for a good near fall. Vikingo attempted a shooting star press, but Omega got the knees up and hit Croyt’s Wrath for two.
They jockeyed for position on the top rope, where Vikingo managed to hit an elevated reverse hurricanrana. The 630 senton followed for the completely clean win.
