Here’s who we want to see answer Oba Femi’s future open challenges | Opinion

The Oba Femi open challenge series officially began on Monday’s WWE Raw with the first challenger — Otis — getting a viral forearm en route to a loss to “The Ruler.”

It was Otis’ first singles match on Raw since May 2025 and a rematch from their August 2024 clash in NXT for the NXT North American title.

With the series underway, here’s a few other wrestlers who could step in the ring with Femi on the upcoming editions of Raw.

Ilja Dragunov

Even after having one on-screen interaction, Dragunov and Femi never squared off in NXT despite being notable names on the brand.

Before WrestleMania 42, Dragunov was teasing a pursuit of the United States Championship, a title he lost to Carmelo Hayes in December. He was initially hesitant because he claimed wanting to go into the title match with a clear mind, avoiding all the mental blocks and confidence issues he said he was facing.

Despite being on SmackDown, Dragunov could cross over to Raw to confront Femi as WWE has done in the past with their rosters.

Ivar

During his reign as NXT North American Champion, Femi faced talents from the main roster, too. Ivar was one of them as he challenge Femi at NXT Spring Breakin’ on April 30, 2024.

On the February 2 Raw, Femi singlehandedly overpowered The War Raiders. Although Ivar has been competing solely in AAA the past couple of months, he could stop by Raw to seek redemption against Femi.

Royce Keys

After debuting at the Royal Rumble, Keys finally competed in his first SmackDown singles match last month against Berto.

With Femi being an unstoppable force in the ring, WWE could pit him against Keys in a showdown that could possibly escalate into a long term feud later. Perhaps Keys crosses over to Raw at some point before a big PLE to put that into motion, helping elevate Keys in the process.

Omos

Omos and Femi have stepped inside the ring once before, facing each other at an NXT house show in October 2025. Omos instigated the match after a brief interaction on one of the shows and stated that there could only be one Nigerian giant.

Their rivalry garnered a huge amount of attention on social media. That could be magnified if the two giants collide on WWE TV for the world to see and prove which one of the two is better in the ring. Additionally, it would also be an ideal pathway to bring back Omos to televised matches on the main roster which he hasn’t done in a very, very long time.

Danhausen listed among WWE free agents on roster page

Danhausen is listed on the free agents section of the roster on WWE’s official site.

He joins Brock Lesnar, Oba Femi and Omos as those with free agency status with the company.

Danhausen made his WWE debut at Elimination Chamber 2026. In the weeks leading up to the Premium Live Event, Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis received a mystery crate with the advisory to open on February 28.

Since then, Danhausen has made backstage appearances on Raw and SmackDown, ‘cursing’ those who oppose him and refuse to align with him. He is yet to wrestle his first match in WWE.

On March 13, WWE filed for multiple Danhausen trademarks.  Danhausen made his wrestling debut in 2013. Six years later, he joined and competed for ROH until 2021. Following this, he signed with AEW. His last match was at AlW Alive out of Habit against Eric Taylor on January 23, 2026.

Meanwhile, two of WWE’s other free agents, Lesnar and Femi, will collide at WrestleMania 42, which was made official after the altercation on Raw this week. Omos has not competed on Raw or SmackDown since the 2024 Andre The Giant Battle Memorial. Most recently he competed in the Rey de Reyes 2026 Qualifying Four Way match against El Grande Americano,  El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. and NXT’s Ethan Page.

Omos announced for AAA’s premiere on FOX in Latin America

Following his series of appearances on AAA shows, former WWE Raw Tag Team Champion and former GHC Tag Team Champion Omos has now been confirmed for the AAA premiere episode of Fox.

AAA will premiere on Fox on Saturday in several Latin American countries including Mexico, Central America, and South America (outside of Brazil). AAA announced Omos’ appearance via social media on Thursday.

Omos was last seen in AAA in December for Guerra de Titanes where he attacked Dragon Lee and aligned himself with El Hijo del Vikingo and Dorian Roldan. In the last year plus, Omos has appeared in Pro Wrestling NOAH and AAA, but has yet to return to WWE despite signing a new contract.

Announced AAA on Fox lineup | This Saturday:

  • El Hijo del Vikingo vs. El Grande Americano in a AAA Mega title eliminator match
  • AAA Reina de Reinas Champion Flammer vs. Lady Shani in a non-title match
  • Nino Hamburguesa, La Parka & Mr. Iguana vs. Abismo Negro Jr., Taurus & Histeria
  • Appearances from Mr. Iguana, Las Toxicas and El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr

El Hijo del Vikingo aligns with Omos & Dorian Roldan at AAA Guerra de Titanes

A new version of El Ojo was born at Guerra de Titanes.

El Hijo del Vikingo defeated Dragon Lee at Saturday’s event in Guadalajara thanks to the help of Omos, who came to the ring following a ref bump and gave Lee the Last Ride powerbomb. Vikingo quickly hit the 450 splash and covered Lee for the victory.

After the match, Dorian Roldan came out and shook hands with Vikingo and Omos, cementing their new alliance. Roldan cut a promo mocking Dragon Lee and his family, with Lee’s father Bestia del Ring sitting at ringside. Roldan said that money had brought them together, and introduced the crowd to the newest version of El Ojo, which sees all.

Omos has been used sparingly in the last few years despite remaining under contract to WWE, having competed in a brief tour for Pro Wrestling NOAH, who has an informal relationship with the company. Omos did compete in the Copa Bardahl at Triplemania in August, winning the match after eliminating La Parka.

In the weeks following Vikingo’s heel turn, Roldan had been seen attempting to recruit Vikingo despite having feuded with Vikingo just months prior.

Omos on AJ Styles’ upcoming retirement: ‘He’s truly the Phenomenal One’

Omos has nothing put praise for his former tag team partner.

In an interview with MuscleManMalcolm, Omos said that while it is sad AJ Styles is planning on retiring next year, he’s one of the greats, and is happy he’ll now have more time to spend with his family.

“He’s one of the greats. He’s wrestled for over twenty five years at this point. It’s sad that someone as great as him is going to be hanging up the boots, but still, I’m happy because knowing him personally, I know that he’s also a family man. He has a beautiful family, and I also know that he’s getting to spend time with his kids,” he said.

“He’s been successful in every company he’s ever wrestled, from Ring of Honor, New Japan, TNA, WWE. He’s done it all, he’s done everything man. He’s truly the Phenomenal One. That moniker is not just a moniker just for nothing. It means something. He’s done it at the highest level for twenty five years and still continues to do so,” he further added.

Omos’ first major storyline in WWE was teaming with Styles, and at one point the duo won the Raw Tag Team titles together. Omos eventually turned against Styles and aligned with MVP. In the years since, Omos has only made sporadic appearances on WWE-aligned programming. In the last year, he took part in a tour for Pro Wrestling NOAH and also appeared at AAA Triplemania, competing in a battle royal.

Omos comments on recent NXT live event match vs. Oba Femi

Omos says he had to show Oba Femi how to pay respect to his elders recently at NXT live events.

Femi and Omos went to a no-contest at an NXT house show on October 11 in Cleveland. Omos had attacked Femi at a show in Detroit the night before, leading to Femi calling out Omos for their match the following night.

When asked by TMZ Sports recently about his exchanges with Femi, Omos said he had to show Femi “how to properly pay respect to his elders, because back home, I’m considered his elder.”

“It was great to have that experience to show him what the big leagues are about on the main roster.”

Omos continued to say of Femi:

I could tell the chemistry was there and we have something amazing. That’s the thing about this business. When you get in the ring with another individual, you want to feel that chemistry, that you guys can make magic, and I felt that in that moment.

Like I said again, I just had to show him who the big boss is and who the veteran is.

He’s done a great job with NXT, extremely charismatic, great on the mic, great body of work, great physicality, and guys like Oba are humbling to face. It gives me a lot of excitement when I meet guys that have such physical prowess as he does.

Both Omos and Oba Femi are from Lagos, Nigeria. Femi came to the United States in 2017 on a University of Tennessee track and field scholarship. Omos moved to the U.S. at 15 and later played basketball at the University of South Florida.

Omos hasn’t wrestled since the three-show NXT house show loop from October 9 to 11. He defeated Lexis King in Columbus, and Myles Bourne in Cleveland before going to a no-contest with Femi in Detroit.

As for Femi, he’s only wrestled on untelevised events since dropping the NXT Championship to Ricky Saints at No Mercy last month.

Omos’ full discussion with TMZ Sports is available below.

Oba Femi calls out Omos for NXT house show: ‘There can only be one Nigerian giant’

After interacting at a WWE NXT house show in Detroit on Friday night, Omos and Oba Femi are set to wrestle tonight in Cleveland.

The news was announced via WWE NXT social media accounts on Saturday.

“After an interaction last night at #NXTDetroit, @Obaofwwe has challenged @TheGiantOmosto a match TONIGHT at #NXTCleveland!

On Friday’s show, Omos confronted Femi and the two had a brief stare down before Omos hit Femi with a clothesline. Femi then challenged Omos to a match in a video posted to social media on Saturday.

“This is a message from the ruler directly to the giant Omos. You came here to Detroit city under the guise of being an ally of the ruler. When I least expected it, you turned on me and you hit me when I wasn’t looking. Omos, you know what that tells me? That tells me that that you think you can come down from your throne, from your pedestal, and come here to NXT and try to bully people. You can’t bully anybody, especially not the ruler.”

“There can only be one Nigerian giant. There can only be one giant of Africa. There can only be one dominant force and his name is not Omos, his name is Oba Femi!”

Both Omos and Femi are from Lagos, Nigeria. Femi moved to the United States in 2017 after being offered a track and field scholarship by the University of Tennessee. Omos moved to the United States alone at the age of 15, attending Atlantic Shores Christian School and later playing basketball for the University of South Florida.

Omos returned to the ring on Thursday, defeating Lexis King at an NXT house show in Columbus. It was his first match since AAA TripleMania XXXIII, where he won the Bardahl Cup battle royal.

Sol Ruca, Jacy Jayne, and Trick Williams are also advertised for tonight’s NXT house show in Cleveland.

Surprising name wrestles at WWE NXT house show

A surprising name made an in-ring appearance at Thursday’s WWE NXT house show in Columbus.

Omos made an unannounced appearance at Thursday’s NXT house show in Columbus, quickly defeating Lexis King in a match. It was the first time in 2025 that Omos has wrestled under the WWE banner.

As part of a working agreement with Pro Wrestling NOAH, Omos worked seven matches on a January tour of Japan earlier this year, plus worked the AAA TripleMania XXXIII event in August, his only matches of the year.

The giant’s last main roster WWE match came in April 2024 in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal on the SmackDown before WrestleMania XL.

A former Raw Tag Team Champion with partner AJ Styles, Omos revealed earlier this year that he had re-signed a long-term contract extension with WWE. In an interview earlier this week, he named Styles The Undertaker, Mark Henry, and MVP among his wrestling mentors.

WWE star Omos reveals his wrestling mentors

WWE star Omos feels fortunate to have had so many great mentors in his wrestling career.

In a new interview with social media creator NarcolepsyBoy94, Omos named AJ Styles, The Undertaker, MVP, Shelton Benjamin, Mark Henry, and Kevin Nash as some of his friends who have helped him out by giving him advice in wrestling. The late Scott Hall was also a big supporter of Omos who would reach out to him all the time.

“Oh man, AJ Styles, Undertaker,” Omos responded when asked who is in his inner circle. “MVP, because when we were together on the road, we got really close. Because we did a lot of drives together. I’m talking about two, three-hour drives where we would just talk about everything. Shelton Benjamin. Yeah, I would say those are like — when it comes to wrestling-wise — those are like the four people.

“Mark Henry. Whenever I need, I can call Mark Henry. I can always give him a call. He’s always there for me. Freaking Kevin Nash, he as well. When Scott Hall was alive, he used to call me all the time and, you know, tell me I was doing a good job and keep on doing a good job. He produced my first-ever wrestling match that I ever had, Scott Hall.”

Hall produced that match when he was visiting the Performance Center and Omos was new to NXT live events.

Whenever Omos has needed advice on things like being a married man in the business, juggling work-life balance, or even questions about his gear, these are some of the people he’s reached out to for help. He’s grateful for their encouragement since not everyone in wrestling has this kind of support system.

Omos recently signed a new WWE contract that will keep him with the company for years to come. He has not been featured on WWE for quite some time, most recently competing in a WWE ring in April 2024. He did have an excursion to Japan for Pro Wrestling NOAH at the start of 2025 and wrestled as a surprise battle royal entrant at AAA Triplemania in August.

Omos debuts, wins Copa Bardahl at AAA Triplemania XXXIII

Omos has resurfaced in AAA.

This year’s Copa Bardahl battle royal, which opened Triplemania on Saturday, was won by the rarely seen WWE star who last eliminated La Parka to win the trophy. Omos came in at number 13 and threw multiple men over the top rope. Most notably, 7’3 giant and the 3’3 Microman met face-to-face several times, with Omos eventually lifting him up in the air and throwing him to the floor, with several wrestlers catching him on his way down.

Another surprise was Otis, who hadn’t been seen on WWE television in recent weeks. Alongside a brief alliance with Microman, he also teamed up with Pimpinela Escarlata, the two forming an alliance until Otis inadvertently eliminated Escarlata.

A mixture of WWE and AAA talent were featured in the battle royal, including Laredo Kid, Joaquin Wilde, Abismo Negro, Taurus, Aerostar, Mecha Wolf, Cruz Del Toro, Cibernetico, and Octagon Jr, who won last year’s Copa Bardahl.

Report: WWE has discussed Lucha Libre AAA run for Omos

After spending some time in Japan for Pro Wrestling NOAH earlier this year, Omos could be set for another international excursion.

WrestleVotes reports that WWE has discussed the possibility of sending Omos to Lucha Libre AAA in Mexico for a stint like he had in NOAH. Omos competed in NOAH for seven matches this January, including winning the promotion’s Tag Team titles.

“WWE creative has discussed sending Omos to AAA for a run, similar to his brief NOAH stint this past winter,” WrestleVotes wrote. “Per source, the idea is to further establish him as a true special attraction outside the WWE bubble.”

It was announced in April that WWE is acquiring Lucha Libre AAA, with the deal expected to be officially finalized at some point between now and the end of September.

Omos (Jordan Omogbehin) has not wrestled since ending his NOAH run, and it’s now been more than a year since his most recent WWE match. Despite that, Omos revealed last month that he has signed a new multi-year WWE contract. The 7-foot-3 former basketball player first joined the company in 2019. He was born In Nigeria and played college basketball at the University of South Florida and Morgan State University.

The most recent WWE television appearance for Omos was when he was an entrant in the 2024 Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal on SmackDown.

Omos says he has re-signed contract with WWE

Despite not appearing on WWE TV for more than a year, Omos said in a new interview that he has re-signed a multi-year contract to stay with WWE.

Speaking with a betting website, he said he has been training and that “…I just signed a renewal with WWE and will be there for years to come.”

He didn’t provide any other details on the contract other than that.

The 33-year-old hasn’t wrestled in WWE since the Andre The Giant Memorial battle royal prior to WrestleMania 40 in April 2024. He then randomly appeared for Pro Wrestling NOAH in January 2025, winning the GHC Tag Team titles and sticking around for the entire month in seven total matches.

He then abruptly left at the end of January, saying in an in-ring promo that he was going to back to WWE and then gave his half of the titles to Daga.

Since that statement, he still has been off WWE TV. In May, he said he was “patiently waiting” for his return to WWE.

A pro since 2019, he held the WWE Raw Tag Team title with AJ Styles for 133 days in 2021.

Omos: The Undertaker has been ‘such a great influence on me’

Omos feels blessed to have The Undertaker as a mentor in his pro wrestling career.

While being interviewed on a new episode of Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Omos discussed his bond with The Undertaker, likening him to something of a father figure. Omos said Undertaker gives him advice and has been a great influence on him.

“I remember the first day I met him. I was at NXT, this is when we were still filming at Full Sail. Walking to Gorilla in the back, and I see [Triple H]. He goes, ‘Hey, I have a special surprise for you.’ He [Undertaker] just walks out, and I rarely get star-struck. And I just go, ‘Oh, it’s The Undertaker!’ He goes, ‘Hey big fella,’ and he just gave me a big hug,” Omos said. “I was shocked, I was shook, I couldn’t believe my eyes.

“And from that day it just became like a bond. He’s pretty much like a — because he can’t be my dad, sorry Taker [laughs], but he’s been such a great influence on me, and I appreciate him. We talk quite often. He gives me advice. Whenever I’m trying to figure out a match or a spot, I always ask, ‘What would Undertaker do?’ Because I do admire his style of work and how he’s been able to transcend the business, because he has built one of those characters that, even after when he passes, that character is going to be forever.”

Undertaker has always spoken highly of Omos, calling him the closest thing to this generation’s version of Andre the Giant.

The 7-foot-3 Omos has not wrestled since spending a few weeks on excursion to Japan for Pro Wrestling NOAH this January. He announced on January 25 that he would be going back to WWE but has yet to be reintroduced on WWE programming.

Omos told Chris Van Vliet that he pitched the idea of going to Japan after seeing NXT’s Tavion Heights and Josh Briggs compete for NOAH. The Great Muta mentioned Omos as someone he would like to see in Japan, so Omos brought up the idea to WWE. A couple months later, he was informed of the NOAH opportunity.

The Japan excursion was “so much fun” for Omos. Right now, he’s patiently waiting for his next WWE match. His most recent time competing in a WWE ring was the 2024 Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

“I’m just waiting,” Omos said. “I’m kind of in a scenario where I’m kind of like a special attraction. Whenever that time comes, I’m ready.”

Omos says he’s ‘patiently waiting’ for WWE return

Omos is waiting.

In an interview with WhatCulture, the former Raw Tag Team Champion gave a blunt answer when asked what was going on with him.

“I’m just waiting,” he said. “I had fun in Japan and I’m just patiently waiting.”

He said he enjoyed his time in Japan wrestling the likes of Naomichi Marufuji and Kaito Kiyomiya, and is ready to come back and dominate whenever WWE gives him the call.

“To be honest man I’m just ready to dominate,” he said. “There’s nothing that brings me more joy than to get in a wrestling ring. So whenever that happens, I’m just ready and excited to get back in there.”

After not being used in WWE since April 2024, Omos made his debut for Pro Wrestling NOAH in January of this year, revealing himself as Jack Morris’ mystery partner. Together, they briefly held the GHC Tag Team titles. However just three weeks into his run, Omos announced that he was heading back to WWE and relinquished his half of the tag team titles. However, WWE has not used Omos since his brief tour of Japan.
