According to SuperLuchas, local media reports say that the former WWE and AAA Champion has obtained a conditional suspension of his sentence and has been released from jail after reaching a settlement agreement with his wife, who accused him of domestic assault back on April 6. It was said that Patron had obtained his wife’s forgiveness and paid one million pesos in restitution.
It was noted in the report that the legal process regarding the allegations will continue, and the case is not closed.
Patron was arrested on April 6 after his wife reported physical and verbal assault to the authorities, with officers finding her with visible injuries to her face and arms. Patron was arrested at the scene and a few days later was ordered to be held in pretrial detention.
Back in 2020, Patron was arrested in Texas after allegedly battering and sexually assaulting his then-girlfriend. He faced charges of aggravated kidnapping and sexual assault, but after several delays the charges were dropped at the end of the following year.

Oh my gosh, no. No, no, no, no. That is definitely not in my future. Definitely not. I’m very, very happy with what I’m doing. I’m very happy to be, you know – think about this – for me, a little girl from New Bern, North Carolina. I just grew up in a very humble, middle-class family, an only child, great parents. Just one of those wonderful childhood kind of things. But never dreamed, ever that I would be in the president’s cabinet. Let alone the opportunity to serve twice.
Liv Morgan shared a new picture showing that the swelling has gone down on her forehead bump after the injury she suffered on Raw. She still has bruising on her forehead and nose.
Sid Vicious’ son Gunnar Eudy noted on Facebook that, because his father is a Legacy inductee, his family will not be doing an acceptance speech at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony:
There will be no acceptance speech because they are putting him in the legacy wing. We will just be in the crowd
We would have been honored to give a speech but at the same time I feel like his fans rather see a video package of him than two people talking that they don’t know

On Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Paul Wight (Big Show) addressed his many face/heel turns and said he doesn’t think a giant like himself ever had to be World Champion:
Arn Anderson told me, ‘The dumbest thing you ever did is learn how to work.’ So any minute, I was able to be a good opponent for what we were doing. I knew that me, personally, I don’t think I should ever have been champion. You don’t need a giant to be a champion. You need a giant to be an obstacle for the upcoming champion. You need somebody, something, a wall, a mountain, something that has to be overcome so that the next talent can be on its way. There’s a damn good living to be made in that position. I think the last time I got the title was just because I had been five or six years in title matches all the time, hadn’t won the damn thing. ‘Well, he’s been in here while, we might want to put it on him, so get some validity out of it.’ But I was okay with that. I enjoyed that, because I look back at my career now, I got to help create some big, big stars. I was working early with Roman and working early with Cody. There are a lot of talents that I had a great [time with], Kofi and Woods and Cesaro. Big moment, Cesaro at WrestleMania, those are all good moments for me. I always understood that I’m not, and this is no way am I putting myself down. I’m not a leading man, I’m not Rock, I’m not Stone Cold. I’m not John Cena. I’m not the leading guy, I’m the funny sidekick, or I’m Thanos, the villain. That’s where I fall in, and that’s okay.
Wrestling Observer Radio with Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez is back with tons to talk about including the arrest of Alberto el Patron, WrestleMania line-up, all of the bizarre things coming out of the CM Punk promo on RAW, Hulk Hogan Netflix doc, tons of New Japan news and line-ups, Arena Mexico, the RAW report, and tons more! A fun show as always so check it out~!

Milenio is reporting that Patron was arrested in San Luis Potosi, Mexico on Monday after his wife accused him of domestic violence. According to Milenio, when guards arrived at the scene they arrested Patron after they found his wife with signs of violence. The report also has a picture of Patron in what appears to be a mugshot.
Patron was previously arrested in Texas back in 2020 after allegedly battering and sexually assaulting his then-girlfriend. He was indicted on charges of aggravated kidnapping and sexual assault, but after several trial delays the charges were dropped at the end of 2021.
In 2023, Patron returned to AAA and became the company’s top star, winning the Mega Championship first as a babyface then again as a heel, aligning himself with Dorian Roldan as part of El Ojo. However when WWE bought the company last year he eventually faded from their television, losing to El Mesias in a match last July where he would have to leave AAA if he lost.
AAA fans would like to see Alberto El Patron return to the promotion.
Last night during Triplemania, fans chanted for El Patron as Rey Mysterio was in the ring to induct Konnan into the AAA Hall of Fame. Mysterio acknowledged the chants and responded in Spanish, telling the crowd something to the effect of, “I’ll bring him. Wait on me.”
A clip of Mysterio responding to the chants is available here and also at the end of this article.
El Patron was recently banished from the promotion after losing to El Mesias at AAA’s show in Mexico City on July 25. The match carried the stipulation that if El Patron lost, he would have to leave the company.
El Patron lost the AAA Mega Championship to El Hijo del Vikingo on May 31, a little over a month after WWE announced it was purhcasing the company. Earlier this month, our own Dave Meltzer addressed his standing with WWE in the August 4, 2025, edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Meltzer wrote:
“As of right now, there are no plans for Alberto El Patron in the U.S. market. But that could change. The belief is he will return to AAA soon. There are those in WWE who do want him on the main roster as they see his work as excellent in AAA (his matches are nothing but he does carry himself like a major superstar), since he was the most over guy and see him now as a guy who can be a major heel on the main roster or the top face on the AAA roster. However there is the negative baggage, including the social media reaction to him. That led to them taking the title off him and going with El Hijo del Vikingo, who the original idea would be the world champion and face of the Mexico promotion and also get exposure on major WWE television in an initial idea.”
The fans in Mexico were chanting for Alberto Del Rio, and Rey Mysterio said he will bring him back.
Notes from Friday’s AAA television show in Mexico City.
A Triplemania XXXIII match for the Mega Championship was set up on the show. Vikingo, who was booed, came out and issued an open challenge. Dragon Lee arrived to answer the challenge, then El Grande Americano. Lee and Vikingo took out Americano but suddenly another masked man entered the ring and took both of them out, revealing himself to be Dominik Mysterio. A four-way for the Mega Championship was then confirmed for Triplemania, which takes place on August 16.

El Grande Mexicano made his AAA debut earlier in the night, defeating Octagon Jr. in a match where he was cheered. After his win, he cut a promo declaring that he is Mexican, which brought more cheers from the crowd. He also sang the song ‘Cielito Lindo.’
El Grande Americano tiene un mensaje y… ¿una canción?

In the main event, Alberto El Patron lost to Mesias in a match where if Alberto lost, he would have to leave AAA. The match was rife with interference, with Dorian Roldan, heel referee Hijo de Tirantes, and NGD freely interfering. Patron took out Roldan and NGD with a guitar but the distraction allowed Mesias to throw powder in Patron’s face then scored a fast count win, putting Patron out of the promotion, at least in storyline.

Latin Lover, who was sitting in the crowd, entered the ring as all the rudos celebrated. He and Patron, who had been feuding for the last year, shook hands and hugged to end the show.
The main event of Triplemania Regia this weekend will be contested inside of a steel cage.
At Sunday’s event in Monterrey, Mexico, El Hijo del Vikingo is putting his AAA Mega Championship on the line against Alberto El Patron. It’s now been confirmed to be a steel cage match with Lucha Libre AAA adding the stipulation after it was requested by El Patron.

This is a rematch from their May 31 meeting where Vikingo defeated El Patron to become the new Mega Champion. That title change took place in advance of AAA’s Worlds Collide event with WWE, which was headlined by Vikingo representing AAA and defeating WWE’s Chad Gable to retain the title.
At a Triplemania Regia press conference yesterday, there was an angle where El Patron attacked Vikingo to build up their match.
¡SE VOLVIÓ LOCO EL PATRÓN!

Ahead of the event taking place this weekend, Lucha Libre AAA held a press conference to finalize the card for Triplemania Regia.
Two new title matches have been added to Sunday’s event in Monterrey. In the main event, El Hijo del Vikingo will put his AAA Mega Championship on the line in a rematch against Alberto El Patron. The TNA X-Division Championship will also be up for grabs at Triplemania Regia with Moose defending in a four-way match against Joe Hendry, El Mesias, and El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr.
Vikingo won the Mega title from El Patron on May 31, becoming champion in time for AAA’s Worlds Collide event with WWE. He made a successful title defense against Chad Gable at that show.
AAA is in the process of being acquired by WWE with the deal expected to be finalized in the third quarter of this year. It remains to be seen whether El Patron — a former WWE World Champion as Alberto Del Rio — will be involved in any crossover to WWE given his past.

Moose, Hendry, and Nic & Ryan Nemeth are representing TNA at Sunday’s AAA show. The Nemeths will take part in a four-way match for the AAA Tag Team titles.
There have been no U.S. broadcast plans announced for Triplemania Regia. In Mexico, matches will air on Max and Space.
Here is the announced card:
AAA Triplemania Regia (Sunday, June 15) —
AAA Mega Champion El Hijo del Vikingo defends against Alberto El Patron
TNA X-Division Champion Moose defends against Joe Hendry, El Mesias, and Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. in a four-way match
AAA Tag Team Champions Forastero & Sanson defend against Angel & Berto, Psycho Clown & Pagano, and Nic & Ryan Nemeth in a four-way match
La Parka, Laredo Kid & Octagon Jr. vs. Abismo Negro Jr., Taurus & Histeria
AAA Reina de Reinas Champion Lady Flammer defends against Dalys and Lady Shani in a three-way match
Mr. Iguana, El Fiscal & Nino Hamburguesa vs. SB Kento, Takuma & Nobu San
In the main event of Saturday’s AAA event in Mexico City, Vikingo defeated Alberto El Patron to win the championship for a second time. In a match filled with interference and weapons, it was ultimately Vikingo’s father, King Vikingo, that was the deciding factor of the match.
Vikingo had attempted to use a guitar Dorian Roldan had introduced into the match before being taken out. Alberto low blowed Vikingo and powerbombed him through a table. As he posed for the crowd, King Vikingo entered the ring and laid out Alberto with the guitar. This allowed Vikingo to hit the 630 splash to end Alberto’s over 288 day reign as champion.

The rest of the technico roster came out to celebrate with an emotional Vikingo to end the show.
In the United States, WWE advertised on Raw this past week that the upcoming Vikingo vs. Chad Gable match at Worlds Collide next Saturday would be for the AAA Mega title despite Vikingo not being champion at the time. The Netflix stream in Mexico did not mention the Mega title.

WWE stars in TV shows
– A few comments regarding Mariah May. Her dream was always WWE, as was noted to us years ago when she was in Stardom. That’s why I was surprised she signed with AEW in the first place. It was a smart strategy on her part. If she had gone to WWE, she very well could have still been in developmental. Instead, she made a lot more money and got a chance to make herself into a legit major star, so she goes into WWE as, I don’t want to see a proven commodity because sometimes WWE dismisses outside work, but she does go in as a star and no doubt gets her dream of being in WWE and with a far higher profile, undoubtedly with more opportunity and obviously for far more money. It’s very clear doing the blow-off of the feud with Toni Storm early and never using her again was because they were aware she was leaving. To her credit, in her last match, she and Storm put on what could easily be called a legendary women’s match. It’s the same situation with Stephanie Vaquer, where she would have made more money elsewhere, in Vaquer’s case a lot more, but their dream was WWE. WWE counts on that, as the same reason they got May and Vaquer is also the same reason they didn’t get Will Ospreay and Kazuchika Okada, because of the belief they would value a WrestleMania moment above a larger paycheck or a bigger push.
– SmackDown is tonight in Knoxville, TN, the home of mayor Glenn Jacobs with both John Cena and Cody Rhodes appearing. Bianca Belair also returns tonight. Two Money in the Bank qualifiers announced are Jacob Fatu vs. Andrade vs. Carmelo Hayes and Jake Cargill vs. Nia Jax vs. Naomi. The last Wrestletix report was 13,287 tickets out. It’s a larger building than most that WWE run as a TV taping real sellout would be closer to 16,300.
– We didn’t get the Tuesday ratings until today, but the NXT rating was 650,000 viewers with an 0.14 in 18-49 and 0.08 in 18-34. It was last among the networks but barely behind Fox in 18-49. They had very tough sports competition as the New York Knicks vs. Indiana Pacers game did 6.71 million viewers between TNT and TruTV and a 2.06 in 18-49, while the Dallas vs. Edmonton NHL game did 1.52 million and 0.43. It was much tougher competition than AEW had Wednesday night.
– Collision tomorrow night should open very strong. Tomorrow night’s Knicks vs. Pacers game will be followed by the final episode of Inside the NBA. AEW will start at around 11:30 p.m. Eastern and 8:30 p.m. Pacific. Given that time, the first 30 minutes should have a big audience but Mascara Dorada vs. Hechicero at 1:15 a.m., well, that’s going to be tough.
– Former UFC star Phil Davis has filed a class action antitrust lawsuit against UFC and TKO claiming that their attempt to monopolize the industry and keeping down other promotions has damaged the earnings potential of top stars not in the UFC. John Nash first reported this. They also claim that it damages the earnings potential by not allowing fighters from other groups to face the biggest stars and challenge for the most prestigious championships. This is actually a very interesting case. He’s filing as a class action suit with the class being the top fighters not in UFC. They are not seeking damages but asking for all UFC fighters to have one year sunset provisions to allow the openings of other companies and an ability to bid on the top UFC fighters each year. This is the second suit filed this week against UFC and TKO, the first being former fighter Misha Cirkunov who sued to invalidate the clause in UFC contracts from 2017 to the present that ban suing over financial issues and that financial issues have to be settled in arbitration.
– For those who thought the Alberto TV Azteca angle was legit, he was on another television show on the same network that night. He got a lot of publicity out of this. While it is common knowledge in Mexico that he’s losing his title tomorrow night to El Hijo del Vikingo, in none of his media interviews have they brought up that obvious question. So it appears they had to agree to that. WWE could call an audible, as Bill Watts and Eddie Graham would have, but I’d be surprised here.
– It is official that the NXT Great American Bash show on 7/12 in Atlanta, GA, will start at 3 p.m. Eastern time. That is the exact same start time as AEW’s All In.
– UFC tomorrow will air at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN+ and then ESPN joins in at 9 p.m. Eastern.

– Arena Mexico tonight is the finals of Copa Juniors with Mascara Dorada vs. Zandokan Jr. The hot trios match is Mistico & Atlantis Jr. & Neon vs. Difunto & Volador Jr. & Barbaro Cavernario. They’re on a big streak as far as Friday night attendance so this should do well again.
– Tito Santana is being inducted into the Albany, NY, International Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame. The induction will be on 10/2. He joins Trish Stratus, Rocky Johnson and Tony Atlas as inductees on that date.
– What is currently listed as El Hijo del Santo’s last match in Mexico is 6/20 in Tijuana. It’s only billed as his last match in Tijuana and it’s on the Crash show. He has said he wanted to do more in other cities so we shall see. He will be working in London and I’m surprised he didn’t do a farewell in California. Santo will team with El Hijo de Rey Misterio (the legit son of Miguel Lopez) & Santo Jr. against Dr. Wagner Jr. & He Hijo del Fishman & D-Luxe.

The AAA Mega Champion reportedly won’t be able to defend his title in Tijuana for six months.
Alberto El Patron has been suspended from wrestling in the city following an incident at a March 14 event. After his match against El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. at the Auditorio de Tijuana, he left the ring to confront a fan in the stands. Video footage shows him arguing with several people and throwing a chair before someone throws one in his direction.
Alberto El Patrón (conocido también como Alberto del Río en WWE) ha sido suspendido por la Comisión de Tijuana por seis meses debido a lo ocurrido en un evento de AAA de este pasado viernes.

Heroes de la Lucha Libre later stated that a woman was taken to the hospital as a result of the confrontation.
Multiple live reports indicate that fans were throwing coins at El Patron before the incident escalated.
The Tijuana commission (headed by Damian 666) suspended Alberto Del Rio for 180 days (~6 months) for his role in an incident on Friday at the Auditorio. AAA has 2 TV tapings coming up in Baja California but those are in Ensenada & Rosarito so I don't think (?) it effects those.
According to lucha libre expert Rob Viper, the Tijuana Wrestling Commission has suspended El Patron for six months.
“The Tijuana commission (including Damian 666) suspended Alberto Del Rio for 180 days (~6 months) for his role in an incident on Friday at the Auditorio. AAA has 2 TV tapings coming up in Baja California but those are in Ensenada & Rosarito so I don’t think (?) it effects those.”
Viper initially stated that Damian 666 is the head of the commission, but he is actually a member of the committee.
“I haven’t seen the full match but in the clip going around Alberto appears heated at someone in the crowd post-match. He tries to hop the guardrail but isn’t able so he circles to a place he can get over. He then throws a chair at someone off camera as securitry intervenes.”
“Another fan seeing this then throws a chair hitting Alberto in the head which starts a slight melee with people throwing things. One story going around is an old lady got hit by a flying chair at some point & ended up in hospital.”
El Patron is scheduled to defend his title against El Hijo del Vikingo this weekend in Mexico City.
Alberto El Patron has a new challenger for AAA Guerra de Titanes on Sunday.
Patron was originally scheduled to defend his AAA Mega Championship against El Hijo Del Vikingo on the show. However, Vikingo has been removed from the card due to his recent injury at TNA Wrestling’s TV taping on October 27.
Pagano will take Vikingo’s place and challenge Patron for the title. Patron will have Dorian Roldan in his corner, while Latin Lover will be in Pagano’s.

The third night of Triplemania on Saturday saw Alberto El Patron defeat Nic Nemeth to become the new AAA Mega Heavyweight champion. Nemeth was accompanied to the ring by former WWE star JBL. The finish came after Patron threw water in Nemeth’s eyes and low blowed him for the win.
An angle took place after the match that saw Alberto turn on authority figure Latin Lover, revealing that he was “The Eye” that had been attacking AAA talent. He joined forces with Konnan and AAA president Dorian Roldan, leaving Latin Lover a bloody mess. JBL entered the ring, looked at Latin Lover, then shook hands with Alberto before leaving.

The full card for the first Triplemania of 2024 is set.
It was announced Monday that the Triplemania 32 event in Monterrey on April 27 will be headlined by Alberto El Patron taking on Nic Nemeth to determine the new AAA Mega Heavyweight Champion. The title was vacated this past Saturday after former champion El Hijo del Vikingo suffered a torn meniscus and a ruptured ligament, which he recently underwent surgery for.
The rest of the card focuses on multi-person matches. Vampiro will be teaming with Pagano and El Mesias as they take on members of La Secta (Cibernetico, Dark Ozz, and Dark Cuervo).
