TNA Impact TV taping spoilers: Former World Champion returns, NXT star appears

The following are spoilers from Friday’s TNA Impact TV taping in Minneapolis, Minnesota — the second of two straight nights of action following Thursday’s live Impact.

From ProWrestling.net’s Chris Vetter’s report, these are for both the September 18 and September 25 editions of Impact which are leading into Victory Road. Matches for this Thursday’s show were taped after the live broadcast.

Explosion:

  • Myla Grace defeated Ruthie Jay
  • Harley Hudson defeated Lili Ruiz

Impact for 9/18 and 9/25:

  • The Hardys vs. Bully Ray & D-Von segment reported on earlier today opened things up with the two teams agreeing to a tables match at October’s Bound for Glory.
  • Mustafa Ali defeated Brian Myers which set up the announcement of a Hardcore War match for BFG between Order 4 and The System.
  • Twin Cities native and former TNA star ODB was shown in attendance as her food truck was outside. This may have just been for the live crowd.
  • Judas Icarus defeated Eric Young
  • Victoria Crawford did a segment calling out Gia Miller (who was on commentary). Jody Threat backed up Miller, so Jackson left.
  • The Elegance Brand (Ash by Elegance, M by Elegance & Heather by Elegance) defeated Masha Slamovich and The IInspiration (Cassie Lee & Jessie McKay)
  • Frankie Kazarian came out for a promo segment and introduced Mr. Kennedy/Ken Anderson who lives in the area and is a former TNA World Champion who was making his first TNA appearance since January 2016. Kazarian started mocking Steve Maclin’s military service which didn’t sit well with Anderson who is in the National Guard. Jake Something attacked Anderson which brought out Maclin for the save. Kazarian vs. Maclin is set for BFG as well.
  • Indi Hartwell defeated Dani Luna by DQ

TNA Impact TV spoilers: Former World Champion returns

Spoilers are available for TNA Wrestling’s TV tapings on Friday night.

For the second night in a row, TNA was in Kingston, Rhode Island. KC Navarro revealed he tore his ACL on the show. This led to AJ Francis announcing the return of Rich Swann to the promotion.

Our own Arya Witner was at the show, and provided the following spoilers:

TNA Xplosion matches:

  • Jody Threat beat Arianna Grace
  • Home Town Man, who had his mask back, defeated The Mecca Brian Johnson
    • Before the match Johnson cut a promo that got a surprising amount of heat. He said he’s from the greatest city on the planet, Philadelphia.

TNA Impact for August 7:

  • Order 4 out to start the show.
    • Ali said TNA has chaos and disorder due to outsiders coming in and seizing our prestigious championships, however now is time for change. Ali will go to war with the Great Hands and Tasha Steelz and mentions the large member of his Secret Service will guarantee no one gets their hands on him. He asks who wants to see him as the next TNA champion. He was upset that he was booed while we cheered for people like The System and Joe Hendry. Well, Ali said his name and now he appears.
    • Hendry said there’s no secrets in TNA and they picked up embarrassing footage of John Skylar. It was a video of a Joe Hendry wrestling buddy with Skylar’s face on it. They showed “Skylar” buying an Ali shirt and using it to wipe his ass on the toilet. Ali said this was why no one believes in Hendry anymore and Ali wants him to disappear. Ali turned down a challenge for tonight and instead accepted it for next week so everyone can prepare for something to truly believe in. There must have been an unseen backstage segment where the match was booked for the 7th because it ends up as the first show main event.
    • Trick Williams was out next. Don’t worry about him losing last week. It’s him vs Moose at Emergence. He made fun of Moose’s big head, his Momma, grandmother and Uncle and threatened to smack all of them. Out came Moose. Moose punched him and went for a spear, but Trick bailed.
    • Frankie Kazarian was out next with a document. I’m assuming the document says he can now do commentary, since he wasn’t kicked out like yesterday.
  • International Champion Steve Maclin vs Jake Something
    • Crowd was really into Something, but popped big for Maclin doing a Suicide Dive over the bottom rope. After that. they fought onto the apron and instead of fighting into the ring, they fell to the floor and the match ended in a Double Countout. The crowd chanted to let them fight. A dozen security guys held back Something and Maclin must have felt that was unfair, so he did a tope onto everyone. They kept fighting up the ramp before security finally pulled Something away.
    • Apparently Kazarian is only allowed to do commentary on 1 match for every 4 hours of TNA, as he was only out for this match.
  • Mike Santana promo from the stands.
    • He said the eyes of the world were on Slammiversary, but he lost. He had his family and culture on his back and even if he was cheated, he still lost. He’s been at rock bottom, but he’s fought. When he lost his father, he fought. And when he decided to bet on himself, he fought, and he fought and he fought. After losing he had to look at his daughter crying and he knew that he had to put everything aside and go comfort his little girl. He told her everything is gonna be okay and she told him she knows because he’s gonna get Trick next time. He promised that it’s not a question of if but when he stands in “this fucking ring” and whoops Trick
  • Xia Brookside and Lei Ying Lee defeated M & Heather By Elegance w/Personal Concierge.
    • Lei pinned M with an Airplane Spin into a TKO.
  • First Class is out next for an episode of the First Class Penthouse.
    • KC reaggravated his knee at Slammiversary and will have to get surgery for a torn ACL. AJ told him that like the NFL, it’s next man up, so he brought out the returning Rich Swann. AJ forced KC to hold the mic for Rich and he didn’t seem happy about it. Swann said he’s back to make the company TNAJ. AJ future endeavored KC from First Class. AJ called him a replacement and KC told him off. AJ said he’s been carrying 165 pounds of dead weight for 9 months. Before KC they were both champions, but KC lost constantly in First Class. He even cost Trick the match last week and loses all the time because he’s a loser. Swann yanked KC’s crutch out, causing KC to fall on the ramp and eventually KC left and the segment ended.
  • Mara Sade pinned Vicious Vicki
    • Mara won a quick one. No idea who Vicious Vicki is.
  • Ash By Elegance w/Personal Concierge defeated Double Champ Jacy Jayne by DQ in a TNA Title match
    • Masha attacked Ash for the DQ, which was a takeoff of yesterday’s match when Ash cost Masha the match. We ended up with run-ins by Xia, Lei Ying Lee, M & Heather By Elegance, Fatal Influence and finally The iinspiration and the faces stood tall.
  • Santino Marella came out and this is one of those times why it’s a bad idea for him to be an authority figure.
    • He came out to announce the matches for Emergence and he’s still doing the “Call everyone the wrong name” gimmick he started in WWE almost 20 years ago at this point. He announced Steve Maclin vs Jake Something in a No DQ, No Countout match, Mike Santana vs Sami Callihan and The Elegance Brand vs Xia Brookside & Lei Ying Lee vs Fatal Influence vs The Iinspiration for the KO Tag Team Titles.
    • Santino then called out The Nemeth’s and told them that due to their attack on the Home Town Man last week, he is taking away their Tag Team Title match and giving it to The Rascalz. Then, after saying they were both suspended, Ryan threatened to sue Santino, so Santino booked Ryan vs Home Town Man at Emergence.
  • Mustafa Ali defeated Joe Hendry.
    • Ali’s entire entourage got involved and Hendry was almost at the level of Hogan or Cena with how much it took for him to lose. Eventually the Large Secret Service Member booted Hendry outside the ring and Ali pinned him with a 450 Splash.

They put a new graphic on the screens saying Emergence was tomorrow, so the rest of the show is for August 14:

TNA Impact August 14 spoilers:

  • Moose was laid out backstage. The rest of The System was upset, but quickly left Moose and walked out to the ring. They called out Trick and First Class to settle this once and for all.
  • Trick and First Class vs Eddie Edwards, Brian Myers and JDC.
    • Swann pinned Myers with a schoolboy and his feet on the ropes.
  • Dani Luna and Indi Hartwell defeated Harley Hudson and Myla Grace.
    • After the match, Rosemary was hiding in the crowd and misted Indi on her way out.
  • They did that random “Everyone cheer then boo” segment they do at every tv taping I’ve been at. No idea why they do this because while I don’t watch every single Impact, I’ve never seen them randomly insert the crowd going crazy for no good reason.
  • Matt Cardona defeated John Skylar.
    • I was at an MLW taping once where it felt like Contra Unit came out every 10 minutes. I’m starting to feel that way about Order 4. After Cardona won, he was attacked by Jason Hotch and Ali then sent the Large Secret Service Man to give Cardona a Tree Slam.
  • Santino is out again for a Knockout Tag Team Summit, which is a preview for the aforementioned 4 team match at Emergence. Long story short, everyone got the chance to say a couple sentences and everyone thought they’d win. Fatal Influence obviously wants to take the Belts to NXT. This ended up as an 8-way brawl with a dozen security guards breaking it up. It culminated in each babyface doing a top rope dive outside the ring onto a pile of heels and security.
  • Mike Santana pinned Eric Young w/Northern Armory
    • After Santana won, Northern Armory attacked and Sami Callihan made the save.
  • Out came Frankie Kazarian, carrying his own mic stand to host a talk show called The King’s Speech.
    • His guests are the two meanest, nastiest, toughest guys in TNA, who are on a collision course at Emergence: Maclin and Something. Neither talked at first. Kazarian needs to hire a better talent coordinator for his talk show. Maclin eventually told Kazarian to shut up. Maclin said at Emergence we’ll find out if Jake is Something. Eventually they both went after Kaz, who bailed and Jake laid out Maclin with a Black Hole Slam.
  • The Rascalz & Cedric Alexander vs Leon Slater and the Hardys.
    • For some reason the Hardys had 2 sets of tag belts. Cedric pinned Leon with a Lumbar Check in a pretty good tv match.
  • The show ended with a Joe Hendry/Jeff Hardy concert, which I am pretty sure won’t air since all the announcers and ringside staff left. I left probably ten minutes in, so I don’t know how long they went.

The show drew around 350, but they stuck around all night, at least until the concert. Not sure if it was because the Hardys went on last or because doing two pre-taped shows flows better than one live and one taped.

TNA Impact TV spoilers for next week: Slammiversary rematch

Prior to and following last night’s live edition of TNA Impact from Kingston, Rhode Island, they filmed additional matches for next Thursday’s show in addition to their weekly Xplosion show.

These come courtesy of our Arya Witner.

  • Xia Brookside & Lei Ying Lee defeated (unknown)
  • Indi Hartwell & Dani Luna defeated Jody Threat & Arianna Grace
  • The Rascalz (Zachary Wentz & Myron Reed) defeated Nic & Ryan Nemeth. After the match, the Nemeths cut a promo and Nic said they are invoking their Tag Team title rematch clause against the Hardys at Emergence. Ryan made fun of Rhode Island’s lack of sports teams and their ugly children. Home Town Man came out and demanded an apology. Nemeth’s laid out HTM and unmasked him, but security covered him up. The Rascalz ran back down to run them off.
  • Masha Slamovich defeated Knockouts Champion Jacy Jayne by DQ. Ash by Elegance ran in and hit Slamovich with the Knockouts Tag Team title belt for the DQ. The match went around five minutes and was disappointing if only because they didn’t have the time to have a better match with a better finish.
  • X-Division Champion Leon Slater defeated Cedric Alexander and Jason Hotch in a three-way title defense.
  • The System (Moose & Eddie Edwards) defeated AJ Francis & Trick Williams. Moose pinned Williams with a spear after KC Navarro accidentally hit him with his crutch.

TNA returns Friday to Kingston for another set of tapings on the road to Emergence.
