Moose re-signs with Impact Wrestling

Moose will be remaining with Impact Wrestling.

The 39-year-old posted a message to his social media accounts on Monday announcing that he has re-signed with the promotion. He also noted it is the longest deal anyone has ever signed with the company.

Moose wrote:

Leaving IMPACT WRESTLING was a veryhard to decision to make. Since I made my debut in July 2016 I have accomplished so much in 7 years. Truth is there is So many matches that I wanted to have, so many matchups to be had but then I realized, unlike MMA, I don’t have to beat the great wrestlers in other organizations to be considered great. I think my body of work speaks for itself. I believe my peers in all other companies and organizations respect my work and at the end of the day that’s all that matters. Right now when you hear IMPACT WRESTLING AJ styles/Kurt Angle are the top names that comes to mind. I want my name to be at the top of that list. So with that goal in mind, I have more I have to get done before my time in Impact is done. not only did I signed back with Impact Wrestling but I also signed the longest deal anyone has ever signed in company’shistory…. A whole lot of work to be done so let’s Go.

Ps I get to still annoy Tommy Dreamer and Scott D’Amore.

On June 16, Moose wrote, “My decision-making will be solely made from Happiness Comfort Trust. Money Dream Match ups Big Arenas are all great but not my Number 1 motivation.”

In the seven years Moose has spent with Impact Wrestling, he’s won several titles including the Impact World Championship, the revived TNA World Championship in 2020/21, and he also won the Impact Grand Championship twice.

After years of being in the title picture, Moose finally won the Impact World Championship at Bound for Glory 2021. He won the Call Your Shot gauntlet match on the show and cashed in his title opportunity later that night on Josh Alexander. He’d later drop the title back to Alexander at Rebellion 2022 in a match our own Dave Meltzer rated four and one-quarter stars, tied for Moose’s highest-rated match of all time.

Bully Ray segment, two matches announced for Impact Wrestling

Impact Wrestling has announced multiple matches and segments for this week’s show.

Rich Swann vs. Moose has also been announced for the show. Along with Mike Bailey and PCO, the two were teammates in the opening round of the 8-4-1 match on Friday. Their team was eliminated when Moose accidentally hit Swann with a spear, allowing Jonathan Gresham to pick up the pin for his team.

Fresh off a win over The Good Hands at Against All Odds, the Impact Tag Team Champions, Ace Austin & Chris Bey, will also be in action on Thursday. They will face Decay’s Crazzy Steve & Taurus in a non-title match.

Heath & Rhino will face Champagne Singh & Shera in a rematch from a late-March edition of Before The Impact. The match was announced for the Countdown show, joining the previously announced Knockouts Tag Team title rematch between The Coven and the Death Dollz.

Also on Thursday’s Impact on AXS, the man advantage for Sunday’s Hardcore War match between Team Tommy Dreamer and Team Bully Ray was decided as Kenny King defeated Frankie Kazarian to give Team Bully the edge.

Additionally, two new members of Team Bully were introduced as Moose and Brian Myers will replace The Good Hands (John Skyler & Jason Hotch). Bully Ray added the two Thursday after they aided King in getting the win.

The aforementioned note on James relinquishing the Knockouts title means former champions Jordynne Grace and Deonna Purrazzo will battle over it Sunday instead.

Digital Media title match official for Impact Hard to Kill

A new title match has been made official for Impact Wrestling’s Hard to Kill pay-per-view.

It was confirmed today that Impact Digital Media Champion Joe Hendry will defend his title against Moose at Hard to Kill on Friday, January 13. The PPV is taking place at Center Stage in Atlanta.

On last week’s Best of 2022 edition of Impact, a promo aired with Hendry calling out Moose for the title match.

“The Digital Media Title will be up for grabs when Joe Hendry defends against Moose at Hard To Kill. In a unique turn of events, it was the reigning champion Hendry who laid out the challenge for this championship showdown,” Impact Wrestling wrote. “The two have been at odds for weeks, ever since Moose ‘said his name’ on an early December edition of IMPACT. Hendry has been on a roll as of late, bringing a new level of prestige to the Digital Media Championship. But now he must face his toughest test, a former IMPACT World Champion in Moose. Brace yourself for this collision between two of the heaviest hitters on the IMPACT roster!”

Bully Ray vs. Moose announced for Impact Over Drive

The promotion revealed on Friday that Bully Ray vs. Moose has been added to the show. Over Drive takes place Friday, November 18 from the Old Forester’s Paristown Hall in Louisville, Kentucky, and will air on Impact Plus.

Bully Ray returned to the promotion after an eight-year absence at Bound For Glory last month. He won the Call Your Shot Gauntlet earning him a title shot against the champion whenever he chooses.

On Impact television in recent weeks, Bully has been trying to convince the locker room he is now trustworthy. Others have accused him of backstage attacks on members of Bullet Club, however. Moose became involved in this storyline after Bully suggested he was the one actually behind the attacks.

Here’s the current lineup for Impact Over Drive:

  • Impact World Champion Josh Alexander defends against Frankie Kazarian
  • Tag Team Champions Heath & Rhino defend against The Major Players
  • Knockouts Tag Team Champions The Death Dollz defend against Tasha Steelz & Savannah Evans

Sami Callihan returns to Impact at Under Siege, attacks Moose

Sami Callihan returned to Impact Wrestling at tonight’s Under Siege event on Impact Plus, taking out Moose.

Moose arrived prior to the main event and said that the Josh Alexander vs. Tomohiro Ishii Impact World title match would not take place, as he was going to hijack the show and demanded Scott D’Amore come to the ring. That was when the lights went out, and when they came back on Callihan was in the ring with a baseball bat. Callihan sent Moose out of the ring and then celebrated with fans.

Callihan suffered a broken ankle back in September that required surgery. He and Eddie Edwards were teaming at the time, and were feuding with Moose and W. Morrissey.

A former Impact World Champion, Callihan has been part of Impact since 2017. He was also set to team with former tag team partner Jon Moxley at a Pro Wrestling Revolver event in October against Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards. However, the match did not take place due to Callihan’s injury.

Moose comments on Impact Rebellion match with Josh Alexander

This past weekend Impact Wrestling held their Rebellion pay-per-view in Poughkeepsie, NY. The show was headlined by IMPACT World Champion Moose defending his championship against Josh Alexander. The main event bout went about 23 minutes and saw a brand new champion crowned, with Alexander hitting the C4 Spike to win the championship.

Moose held the IMPACT World Championship for a total of 182 days after winning the belt at the 2021 Bound For Glory event in which he invoked his ‘Call Your Shot Gauntlet’ championship opportunity to pin Josh Alexander for the title as he was celebrating with his family in the ring.

What proceeded between both Moose and Alexander turned out to be a very personal story that even featured Moose hitting the Lights Out (spear) on Jen Alexander, the wife of Josh.

During his reign as IMPACT World Champion, Moose successfully defended his championship against the likes of Mike Bailey, Heath, W. Morrissey, Zicky Dice, Matt Cardona, and Eddie Edwards.

On the episode of IMPACT immediately following Rebellion, Moose had a rematch against Alexander in which he lost to him once again.

I had the opportunity of chatting with the former champion all about his feud with Josh Alexander and of course his experience as champion.

“I don’t hate Josh, I actually respect him. I believe in the last year Josh has proved undoubtedly why he is one of the best pro wrestlers in the world and he prevailed at Rebellion and he prevailed again in our rematch that aired last night. I am happy to see what his run is gonna be like, he deserves it, he showed that he’s the standard of what professional wrestling is at IMPACT Wrestling.”

ā€œI was happy with the match, definitely one of my better matches I’ve had,ā€ Moose said in regards to the Rebellion match. ā€œI know everybody says ‘Oh it’s Moose’s best match of his career,’ I feel like everyone says that after I have a good match because they forget about my last match. But it’s definitely one of my better matches. I knew it was gonna be good going in because I am working with a professional in Josh and he’s known for putting on great matches. So I knew I was gonna have a good dance partner.”

Moose also credited the story told for why the main event turned out the way it turned out. “It had people very invested in this match, when you have a super heel villain versus this babyface and everyone wants this babyface to win,” he said. ā€œI don’t know if this is my favorite match in my career, but this is definitely my favorite rivalry that I have had in my eight years of professional wrestling because of how invested the fans were into the match.”

Moose became champion right around the time that IMPACT Wrestling began going back on the road. I asked Moose about the significance of holding the belt.

“I was happy. Usually when they put the title around you, the company is pretty much telling you that you’re gonna be the face of the brand. So when they told me what was going on and the plans they had, I was very proud because I’d been in IMPACT, other than Eddie, I feel I’ve been at IMPACT the longest and I had never been IMPACT World Champion, It was something that I worked my a** off to accomplish.”

Moose also explained how the timing of IMPACT making him champion made sense during the timeline of his run with the promotion.

“I know that a lot of people said that when I wrestled Austin Aries, I wanna say in 2017, maybe 2018; that I should have been IMPACT World Champion then, but honestly speaking, I don’t think I was ready to be champion. I think I was too new in my wrestling career. I didn’t understand what it meant to be champion yet, and I needed time to learn what being champion was all about… and I think they picked the right time at last year’s Bound For Glory to pull the trigger on it.”

Moose also recalls helping with positive vibes in the locker room. “You lead by example, that’s first and foremost,” he said. Moose says he also would bring smoothies and snacks for the guys to help build camaraderie and made sure to always show up extra early before call-time. He described it as a “hard responsibility”, but a “great feeling.”

The next IMPACT Wrestling pay-per-view is taking place on May 7th in Newport, Kentucky titled Under Siege. Announced so far for the show:

  • Impact World title: champion Josh Alexander defending against Tomohiro Ishii
  • Impact World Tag Team titles: Violent By Design vs. The Briscoes
  • AAA Reina de Reinas title: Taya Valkyrie vs. Deonna Purrazzao
  • Bullet Club (Jay White, Chris Bey, Doc Gallows, El Phantasmo, Karl Anderson) vs Honor No More (Eddie Edwards, Matt Taven, Mike Bennett, Kenny King, Vincent)

Josh Alexander vs. Moose World title rematch set for Impact Wrestling

Josh Alexander’s first defense of the Impact World title will be against former champion Moose this Thursday on AXS TV.

Alexander defeated Moose at last Saturday’s Rebellion to reclaim the title. It’s Alexander’s second run with the gold as his first reign ended in minutes at last October’s Bound For Glory due to Moose cashing in his earned Call Your Shot opportunity.

Since that loss, Alexander campaigned for a rematch but was unable to get it. He is also a former Impact X-Division Champion and Tag Team Champion.

Moose said in February that has been working through a torn labrum which he will eventually need to take time off for.

The match was taped Sunday in Poughkeepsie, New York. Based on those tapings, other matches will include The Briscoes vs. Heath and Rhino, Honor No More vs. Motor City Machine Guns & Mike Bailey in a trios match and several promos.
