Bad Bunny, WWE in discussions for tag team match involving Logan Paul

Bad Bunny has been the talk of the entertainment and pop culture world for various reasons stemming from his Super Bowl halftime show performance and the politically charged discussion around it.

There is also discussion in the wrestling world as to whether the popular entertainer will return to WWE and if so, when.

Our Bryan Alvarez is reporting that the feeling is WWE is indeed discussing a match with Bad Bunny which would likely be of the tag team variety and involving Logan Paul “but probably not a singles match and probably not at WrestleMania.”

After a U.S. Senator called for Bad Bunny to go to AEW following an anti-ICE chant breaking out before an MJF vs. Brody King match, Alvarez said to expect the performer to be back in WWE “sooner than later”.

On Wednesday, Paul said the idea of he and Bunny having a match “has been floated around” with him saying a week prior he thinks it would be the “biggest” of all time.

Earlier on Thursday’s Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select, it was said WWE had been in contact with the star’s reps well in advance of the Super Bowl to gauge his interest in either wrestling or appearing at their biggest shows of the year, taking place in April from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

The star has wrestled three times, debuting at WrestleMania 37 in a tag match alongside Damian Priest, then returning at the men’s 2022 Royal Rumble match and finally against Priest in a street fight at 2023’s Backlash, held in his home country of Puerto Rico.

Logan Paul says him wrestling Bad Bunny has been ‘floated around’

Logan Paul has addressed speculation that he could wrestle Bad Bunny in WWE and called it “floating around.”

In a recent episode of his ImPaulsive podcast, Paul opened up about his response to Bunny’s Super Bowl 60 Halftime show. Calling it a “work”, Paul also addressed the possibility of him wrestling Bunny in WWE.

Let’s peel back the f****ng curtain. I’m going to stop f****ng around. Bad Bunny is a world-renowned superstar. He also can be a WWE superstar when he wants. He’s a good wrestler. He can f****ng wrestle. There have been talks about maybe us wrestling. It’s been floated around. I’ve been candid about the fact that I’d love to do it. I think it would be the greatest WWE match of all time. I really believe that.

In that regard, any time I’m asked about Bad Bunny, I think that in the back of my mind. To set that up, when I’m asked if I’m excited, saying ‘no,’ one word, now people are talking about it. However, there is truth to the fact that I’m a 30-year-old man,” Paul said.

I’m not excited about any halftime show. I don’t care. I didn’t even really watch the game that much. I was ripping packs.  I’d say 80-20. Yeah. 80 being work. 20% like, I don’t care if it’s Bad Bunny performing or someone else.

Paul and Bunny have been rumored to work together since Bunny’s comments on an episode of Hot Ones and Paul’s response to that on his vlog. The potential match also received a thumbs up from Cody Rhodes, who wants to see it at WrestleMania.

However, as of now, there has been no confirmation on a match between the two, and these are just Paul addressing the speculations.

Logan Paul thinks WWE match vs. Bad Bunny would be ‘biggest’ of all time

Logan Paul doesn’t know if him facing Bad Bunny is a realistic possibility, but he believes the match would be a massive spectacle.

Paul, speaking with The Takedown on SI, said he has no doubt that him squaring off against Bad Bunny in WWE would be the biggest pro wrestling match of all time. He thinks excitement for the celebrity matchup would break outside of the wrestling bubble and create something huge.

“If Bad Bunny versus Logan Paul happened, I have no doubt it would be the biggest wrestling match of all time,” Paul said. “Like, hands down, without question, that match extends so far beyond the WWE Universe. It breaks all barriers of what people think wrestling is. You have the opportunity to capture a global audience in one match.

“The guy is talented. The guy is so talented. The definition of a superstar, whether it’s performing at a big game halftime show, or actually even wrestling. Now that said, I’ve got some experience under my belt. I don’t see how he’s going to be able to stand my pressure and my athleticism and strength, but if it happens, that’s a big money match. That’s a big money match I know the whole world would tune in for and I think it would be a real good one.”

Though Paul wants the match, Bad Bunny’s busy schedule could be a barrier to making it happen.

“I’m not setting the table,” Paul said. “I don’t know. Look, the thing about him is he’s a busy guy. He’s a very busy guy. I don’t know. I don’t know what is on his agenda. I would like to, I would. I would like to make it happen.”

Paul now considers himself a full-time wrestler after signing his most recent WWE contract. Bad Bunny has worked three matches for WWE over the years but has not competed since 2023. It’s rumored that he could be appearing for WWE again at some point soon.

A Paul vs. Bad Bunny match is also something that Cody Rhodes would like to see, with Rhodes telling TMZ that Paul should be Bad Bunny’s opponent if the music superstar were to compete at WrestleMania.

Cody Rhodes would like to see Bad Bunny vs. Logan Paul WWE WrestleMania match

Cody Rhodes was a big fan of Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show — and he’s hoping that the music superstar will step back into a WWE ring again when his schedule allows.

TMZ Sports caught up with Rhodes this week during a media tour in New York City. During the brief conversation, Rhodes was asked to give his thoughts on Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl performance.

“Oh, he killed it. So good,” Rhodes said. “I hope we get him back. He did a wonderful job. But he’s on top of the world right now. That show is an all-timer. Prince might still be my favorite [halftime show], but that’s an all-timer.”

TMZ then asked Rhodes who he would like to see Bad Bunny face in a potential WrestleMania match.

“Good one,” Rhodes responded. “Maybe Logan [Paul]?”

Bad Bunny and Logan Paul are two of the most successful celebrity crossovers in recent WWE history, with Paul even now considering himself a full-time wrestler. Paul, who has stated his desire to face Bad Bunny in WWE, defended Bad Bunny over the weekend when his own brother Jake called the Puerto Rican musician a “fake American.”

Bad Bunny wrestled for WWE three times from 2021-2023. Despite his busy schedule, there are rumors he could appear for the company again soon.

Miz praises Bad Bunny, says he wanted to learn lock-ups and headlocks in WWE training

Bad Bunny showed an incredible work ethic while training for his WWE debut.

One of the biggest music stars in the world, Bad Bunny wrestled his first WWE match when he teamed with Damian Priest to defeat The Miz & John Morrison at WrestleMania 37 in 2021. Miz looked back on that match on the latest episode of Six Feet Under and had a lot of good things to say about Bad Bunny.

“I remember Bad Bunny training, and this was during COVID times where we were at the baseball field in Tampa. And every time I would come to the show, he was there early in the ring,” Miz said. “He would be practicing, then he would go sing at the Grammys. He’d be right back in the ring. He’d go to SNL and he would have the title, the 24/7 title, that as much as it’s a prestigious title [or] whatever, it was like a fun title, right? It was a ‘ha ha’ title. But he would have it and hold it and sing on SNL with that title in his arm. And I was like, ‘Man, this dude just loves what we do and gets it.’ And he wanted to do something special. He wanted to do something great.”

When Bad Bunny was preparing for his debut, he wanted to learn the basics like lock-ups and headlocks. And he was so committed to the storyline that he even came up with the idea for Miz and Morrison to spray paint his expensive car.

“I remember they were teaching him, he wanted to learn lock-ups and headlocks and I was like, ‘Dude, I’m not doing any of that.’ And so when he was doing all that, I was like, ‘You know what? Everyone out of the ring.’ I just gave him heat for like 15 minutes,” Miz said. “And I go, ‘Sell this, because this is what you’re going to be doing a lot of.’

“I feel like a lot of times [with] celebrities, we hide them. You know, we hide their flaws, whatever. I was like, ‘We’re not hiding you.’ You are literally going to be doing the entire intro, you’re going to be involved in every aspect of this match, because no one will expect it and everyone will expect you to just come and hit a clothesline and hit this and hit this — it’s boring. They want to see you… He let us spray paint his $500,000 car. Real spray paint, and it was his idea. I was like, ‘Bunny, man, dude, I’m a little nervous.’ And he goes, ‘No, no, you spray paint it.’ He goes, ‘We’ll have someone wash it afterwards.’ I go, ‘It might not come off.’ He goes, ‘It’ll be all right.’ Oh my god, this guy is in. So me and Morrison spray-painted this $500,000, I think it was like a Bugatti.”

Bad Bunny has gained even more cultural relevance through headlining the Super Bowl halftime show last weekend. A big wrestling fan, he has worked three matches for WWE in total, most recently defeating Priest in his native Puerto Rico in 2023. It’s rumored that Bad Bunny could be back in WWE again soon, though there is no date for when that will happen.

Seth Rollins praises ‘fellow WWE superstar’ Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show

Seth Rollins was a big fan of Bad Bunny’s halftime performance at the Super Bowl.

While guest hosting NFL Network’s Good Morning Football on Tuesday, Rollins took a moment to praise “fellow WWE superstar” Bad Bunny for the performance he gave during the Super Bowl halftime show and the message of love and unity he chose to send. Rollins was at the game on Sunday with Becky Lynch and Kofi Kingston.

“I wanted to give a shoutout to Bad Bunny, because it was just awesome,” Rollins said. “My colleague Benito, fellow WWE superstar. You know, there was a lot of talk going into the halftime show about this and that and this and that. But at the end of the day, it was about unity. His message was about bringing people together. Love is stronger than hate. And I just thought that was so beautiful and so powerful.

“And it didn’t matter where you come from, what your background was, what your ethnicity, your religious background, anything. It was just about love. It was like, come as you are, be a part of this, and I thought that was beautiful. And it was a bigger kind of — that’s what the Super Bowl is. That’s what football is. You bring everybody together, you watch this game, you talk about it, we’re talking about it. And there’s just so much joy that comes from football and that comes from being together as a community as one with different cultures. It was such a beautiful halftime show. I don’t even know a single Bad Bunny song, and I was nearly in tears by the end of it. I was nearly in tears by the end of it. The messaging was beautiful.”

Bad Bunny is a big wrestling fan and has earned a lot of praise from fans for the few matches he’s worked for WWE. It’s not known when his next WWE appearance will be, but it could happen soon.

In 2025, Rollins joined the cast of Good Morning Football as a regular guest host. He’s gotten the chance to get more sports media experience in recent months due to the shoulder injury that has sidelined him since October. Rollins is hoping that he’ll be ready to return in time for WrestleMania 42 this April.

Monday Update

— Bryan and I will be back tonight talking Raw and the rest of the wrestling news with Wrestling Observer Radio.

— Andrei Arlovski in his post-fight interview after stopping Ben Rothwell to win the Bare Knuckle Fighting championships heavyweight title at 47 years old, revealed that he in recent years has beaten cancer three times. His said one year ago a tumor was removed from his kidney and also had 28 lymph nodes removed and went through chemotherapy.

— An update regarding the Bron Breakker hernia surgery which took place this past week. He has been dealing with this issue for some time but has been able to work with it. It’s like many active wrestlers do and it’s not that dangerous, but if it gets bad, then you have to take care of it immediately with surgery. Kenny Omega had it and was feeling bad but didn’t go right in for surgery and almost died. It flared up last week and WWE doctors told him to take care of it. There is no time frame on his return. This had zero to do with the Royal Rumble booking.

— In a strange story, all over there have been reports with a number as to how many people watched the Bad Bunny halftime performance at the Super Bowl which turned into a political issue for reasons that make no sense to me. Anyway, even though CBS News even reported the number, it is fake. Somebody on the Internet just spread it and since everyone wanted a number first, it spread quickly. I thought it was totally weird how there was a rating last night for something that took place yesterday because that’s not how this stuff works, plus there was a rating for halftime and not the game which also makes no sense. Anyway, the rating won’t be out until tomorrow although I suppose a prelim number could be out later, but the number floating around and being reported today is a fake number.

— Jake Paul didn’t apologize for his remarks yesterday on Bad Bunny after Logan Paul said that his brother was wrong in his remarks when he said he was purposely turning off the halftime show and called Bunny a fake American citizen. Even Jake Paul’s own fighter Amanda Serrano took issue with his remarks while praising all Paul had done for her. Paul said he wasn’t calling him a fake American because he’s from Puerto Rico, but said he’s fake because of his values and criticism “of our great country.” But later he said, “Guys, I love Bad Bunny idk what happened on my twitter last night.”

— An interesting note is whether or not WWE will bring in Bad Bunny in the next month or two after all this publicity. Of course it depends on his schedule as well. The key is that it would be taking advantage of the pub and he has a good relationship with the company, plus, Sen. Ruben Gallego or Arizona publicly pushed AEW to bring him in (as if it’s that simple) because he said he likes AEW more. But President Trump has made Bad Bunny a symbol of something negative and Linda McMahon is in the cabinet and Paul Levesque is her son-in-law who works with Trump as well. If they were to use him now, it would come across to Trump like an affront, but from a business standpoint it would be a decision WWE would normally make to do so.

— The Amarillo paper ran a story today on the 85th birthday of Dory Funk Jr. Funk Jr. was the son of Dory Funk Sr., the biggest wrestling star in West Texas in the late 50s and into the 60s. Dory was a football star at West Texas State and the first of the slew of players from the team who would later become major stars in the industry like Stan Hansen, Bruiser Brody, Dusty Rhodes, Terry Funk, Bobby Duncum, Tito Santana, Tully Blanchard, Ted DiBisae, Manny Fernandez, Scott Casey and Kelly Kiniski that I can recall. He was NWA world champion from 1969-73 and a legendary figure in Japan, Texas and Florida.

— YouTube TV is introducing a skinny sports bundle for $64.99 per month which will have ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, FS 1, NBC Sports and all the ESPN networks including ESPN Unlimited.

— Cuatrero, who has not wrestled in years since being charged and jailed for a long time for alleged sexual abuse regarding then-girlfriend Stephanie Vaquer, is being advertiseed for a show on 3/13 in Ecatepec. He hasn’t wrestled in three years and has been out of jail for nearly a year. When he was released he was prohibited from wrestling but his lawyers have gotten that restriction removed.

— Kevin Matthews, who works backstage for AEW, was in a Super Bowl commercial with DJ Kahled doing a pro wrestling theme for Wegovy.

— Raw tonight is from Cleveland with some Elimination Chamber qualifiers with Austin Theory vs. Penta vs. LA Knight and Lyra Valkyria vs. Rhea Ripley vs. Ivy Nile, plus Jimmy Uso returns for an Usos tag title defense against Otis & Tozawa and Nattiie makes her WWE match debut with her new gimmick against Maxxine Dupri. They had 9,900 t9ckets out for the show as of earlier today, so again a very good crowd but not going to be close to a sellout.

— We’re looking for reports and results from Cleveland from the Main Event matches to [email protected]

— TNA Impact did 241,000 viewers and an 0.05 in 18-49 on Thursday, up from 201,000 last week. It’s the best number by far the show has done on AMC. The only time they did a number in that realm in years was the first time Kenny Omega appeared on the show on AXS, but that’s a lot smaller platform and things have changed so much with TV it’s not really a fair comparison. Unlike with AEW where Google searches have coincided with the ratings gains, TNA was actually down 12 percent in searches from the prior week and far lower than that of the first two shows. TNA has No Surrender Friday from Nashville on TNA+

— New Japan New Beginning in Osaka is at 1 a.m. late Tuesday night Eastern and 10 p.m. Pacific, so in our time zone New Japan airs right after NXT ends. Hiromu Takahashi has his last New Japan match teaming with Taiji Ishimori against Francesco Akira & Jakob Austin Young. Also the Great O’Khan & Henare vs. returning Shingo Takagi & Drilla Moloney, Oleg Bolton & Hirooki Goto & Yoshi-Hashi defend the trios titles against Zack Sabre Jr. & Ryohei Oiwa & Hartley Jackson, Gabe Kidd vs Andrade with the winner getting a Global title shot at Yota Tsuiji, David Finay vs. Callum Newman Aaron Wolf defends the Never title against Ren Narita, Yuto-Ice & skar defend the IWGP tag titles against Shota Umino & Yuya Uemura and Yota Tsuji vs. Jake Lee for the IWGP title. The show has been sold out for some time so from a business end the card sold the tickets.

— Roman Reigns will be on the Raw shows on 3/2 in Indianapolis, 3/16 in San Antonio, 3/23 in Boston, 3/30 in Madison Square Garden and 4/13 in Sacramento.

— Pro Wrestling NOAH announced they will handle the management and representation for Shinjiro Otani, and they hope Otani will be at their 2/11 show at Korakuen Hall. Otani has been paralyzed from the neck down due to a neck injury in a 2022 match with Takashi Sugiura. He was one of the greatest in-ring wrestlers ever.

— The 2025 awards issue of the Observer will be out late Thursday night.

— NXT has Sol Ruca & Zaria vs. Kendal Grey & Wren Sinclair with the person who scores the pin getting a match with Jacy Jayne for the NXT title, Eli Knight vs. Josh Briggs in a Speed tournament match, Jaida Parker vs. Blake Monroe and Brad Baylor & Ricky Smokes vs Han k & Tank.

— Jim Shank, 60, who worked in production as Technical Operations Manager in WWE and had been with the company for more than 25 years, passed away after a battle with colorectal cancer. He was the operator of the remove controlled and robotic cameras for television.

— Chris Walker turned 65 today. Madusa turned 63. Shelly Martinez turned 46. Alexis Smirnoff was born on this day in 1947. Milo Steinborn, a famous strongman who turned pro wrestler and later became a promoter and was the father of Dick Steinborn, was 95 when he passed away 27 years ago. Sal Bellomo was 67 when he passed away six year ago. Candi Divine was 63 when she passed away four years ago. (thanks to Tony Richards)

— MLW announced a return to Cicero Stadium on 11/7

— The 3/8 Pro Wrestling Eve show at Indigo at the O2 Arena, Wrestle Queendom 8, is 140 tickets shy of breaking the all-time attendance record for an all-women’s show in the U.K.

AEW star picks Bad Bunny when asked who from WWE he’d like to wrestle

Orange Cassidy says Bad Bunny’s cool.

During an appearance on SiriusXM Sports on Sunday, Cassidy was asked who he would like to face if the “forbidden door” between WWE and AEW were to open.

Cassidy responded:

“If there was a Forbidden Door between WWE and AEW, the person I would want to have a match with is probably… Yeah, I’d like to get in there with Bad Bunny. Why not? Bad Bunny’s cool.”

The Puerto Rican recording star has been the subject of discussion in wrestling and football circles in recent weeks. Bad Bunny is set to be the featured performer in this year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show and also received several awards at last month’s Grammy Awards.

Bad Bunny’s status with WWE has also been addressed recently by Bryan Alvarez. While discussing U.S. Senator Ruben Gallego calling for AEW to sign Bad Bunny, Alvarez said on Wrestling Observer Live that Bad Bunny is expected to return to WWE “sooner rather than later.”

Update on Bad Bunny’s WWE status after calls for AEW to sign him

Bryan Alvarez expects Bad Bunny to be back in WWE “sooner rather than later.”

Alvarez addressed Bad Bunny’s status with WWE on Friday’s edition of Wrestling Observer Live during a conversation with Lance Storm. He said that despite recent calls by U.S. Senator Ruben Gallego for AEW to sign the recording star, Bad Bunny will be back in WWE soon.

“He’s tweeting for Tony Khan to bring in Bad Bunny,” Alvarez said about Gallego on WOL.

Storm added, “And is apparently unaware that Bad Bunny has wrestled quite a bit.”

Alvarez responded, “Bad Bunny is going to end up back in WWE very soon. Sooner rather than later, everybody, just so you all know.”

Gallego’s comments followed Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite in Las Vegas, which featured an anti-ICE chant during the main event. Bad Bunny has spoken out against the U.S. government’s immigration enforcement agency, most recently on February 1 at the Grammy Awards.

“ICE out,” Bad Bunny said while accepting his award for best música urban performance. “We are not savages, we are not animals, we are not aliens. We are humans and we are Americans.”

Friday’s edition of Wrestling Observer Live is free and available now. The below video is cued to Alvarez’s comments about Bad Bunny.

United States senator calls for Tony Khan to bring Bad Bunny to AEW

A sitting United States senator is publicly calling for AEW to bring in Bad Bunny for some appearances.

In a tweet posted on Friday, Ruben Gallego — a Democratic senator from Arizona — called on Tony Khan to bring Bad Bunny to AEW. The music superstar is a huge wrestling fan and has developed a close relationship with WWE over the years, competing in three matches since 2021.

“@TonyKhan it’s time for @AEW to solidify a huge fan base,” Gallego wrote. “[Bad Bunny] love wrestling, need him to make some appearances. Just no stretcher match please.”

The tweet coincides with AEW making headlines this week for the “f*** ICE” chant that could be heard from fans on AEW Dynamite. Gallego’s post was also made in advance of Bad Bunny headlining the Super Bowl halftime show this weekend. Bad Bunny, like AEW wrestler Brody King, is a vocal critic of ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement), a federal law enforcement agency that has received significant scrutiny following the killings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti in Minneapolis last month.

MJF, who was in the ring with King on Dynamite when the chants broke out, gave his thoughts on the moment during an interview with former NFL player Ross Tucker at Super Bowl Radio Row.

“Another thing that’s great at AEW is our fans have a voice. Literally last night, we were in Vegas and they started an ‘f*** ICE’ chant. Now, I don’t care what side of the political line that you land on, there’s no other wrestling promotion that wouldn’t censor the fans,” MJF said. “But we don’t do that, we’re the listening company. So if all the fans want to chant that, we’re going to let them chant that. And I think that that’s inherently really cool and awesome. And I think that’s what makes my company special. We don’t censor the fans. It’s nice. It’s really nice.”

Bad Bunny’s “Debi Tirar Mas Fotos” won Album of the Year last weekend at the Grammy Awards. His most recent wrestling match was a victory over Damian Priest at WWE Backlash 2023 in his native Puerto Rico. There were rumors that San Juan could again host the PLE this year, but that won’t be the case. Backlash 2026 will instead be held in Tampa, Florida on May 9.

At Arena Mexico in December 2025, Bad Bunny was spotted in the crowd attending a CMLL show.

Masked Bad Bunny spotted attending CMLL event

Multiple award-winning artist and music sensation Bad Bunny was recently spotted attending a CMLL show.

Masked and nearly unrecognizable, the popular Grammy Award winning musician attended Tuesday’s CMLL show wearing a Mistico mask. He sat in the front row, taking in all the action (seen below):

His appearance was also later confirmed by CMLL on Instagram: “The multi-award-winning Bad Bunny lived The World’s Greatest Wrestling up close, vibrating with every fall and every key… and rocking none less than the mask of the King of Silver and Gold, Mystical!”

The 31-year-old has wrestled several times for WWE and was last involved in a San Juan Street fight against Damian Priest at 2023’s Backlash — one of three matches he has had. His debut came at 2021’s WrestleMania, teaming with Priest against John Morrison and The Miz. He then also appeared in the 2022 Royal Rumble.

WWE star Damian Priest reacts to Bad Bunny Super Bowl announcement

WWE star Damian Priest is proud of all the success his friend Bad Bunny is having.

It was announced this week that Bad Bunny will headline the 2026 Super Bowl LX halftime show. Along with that, Bad Bunny is hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend as the show premieres its 51st season. Priest told TMZ Sports that he’s inspired by everything Bad Bunny is doing.

“Man, just proud. That guy’s the definition of when parents tell their kids, ‘You set your mind to something, you can achieve it.’ He is the example,” Priest said. “I mean, what can this guy not achieve? And what he’s doing culturally, just representing his people — just inspiring. I admire him just for that alone. As a friend, I’m obviously happy and proud and so excited. I can’t wait to see what he does at the Super Bowl, man.”

TMZ Sports asked Priest if he’s spoken to Bad Bunny since the Super Bowl announcement.

“No, just a quick message, you know, congratulations and a thank you,” Priest said. “Besides that, no. I mean, he’s obviously still busy doing his thing. But I look forward to hopefully seeing him soon.”

Bad Bunny — a rapper from Puerto Rico — is one of the most popular music acts in the world. He’s also a WWE fan who has had a few matches for the company, including both teaming with and facing Priest. Their San Juan Street Fight at Backlash 2023 was Bad Bunny’s most recent match.

Priest told TMZ Sports that he believes Bad Bunny is the greatest celebrity-turned-wrestler ever. When asked if we’ll ever see Bad Bunny in a WWE ring again, Priest gave a “never say never” answer.

“As far as any chance, especially in this business, never say never,” Priest said. “And I’ve talked to him about it. And it’s just scheduling, because obviously he has a lot going on. But he still has that itch, he loves our business. He’s had more than enough time to recover since our match, so he’s ready to come.”

Priest — who is currently feuding with Aleister Black — will be in action on WWE SmackDown tonight. His opponent has not been announced yet.

WWE WrestleMania performer Bad Bunny to headline Super Bowl LX halftime show

Bad Bunny will be at next year’s Super Bowl.

The Grammy Award winning performer announced on social media Sunday that he will be the headline performer for this year’s halftime show, which will take place at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. It will air on February 8 on NBC and stream on Peacock.

In his announcement, Bunny posted a video of himself sitting on a field goal.

To wrestling fans, Bunny is best known for his association with the WWE, winning the 24/7 Championship in 2021. At WrestleMania 37, he teamed with Damian Priest in his pro wrestling debut, defeating John Morrison and The Miz.

In 2023, he returned to WWE when it was announced that he would be the host of that year’s Backlash PLE, which was held in Puerto Rico. Priest, who had since turned heel and joined the Judgment Day, ended up attacking his former friend. The two met in a San Juan Street Fight at Backlash, with Bad Bunny scoring the win in front of his home country.

Update on potential Travis Scott WWE in-ring debut

After his involvement at Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania, rap star Travis Scott could be making his WWE debut later this year.

Cory Hays reported earlier this week that there is a pitch for Scott and John Cena to work a tag team match at some point in 2025. In the new issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer mentioned the possibility of a Cena & Scott vs. Cody Rhodes & Bad Bunny match:

There have already been reports of Scott & Cena doing a tag team match. The theory was Bad Bunny would be on the other side. Rhodes would make the most sense as the partner but that aspect wasn’t confirmed to us past the idea that if it is done, they’d need a wrestler of the level of Cena on the face side.

Rhodes suffered a legitimate busted eardrum and a black eye when Scott slapped him during Cena, The Rock, and Scott’s attack at Elimination Chamber. Rhodes was able to get a bit of a receipt by hitting Scott with Cross Rhodes at WrestleMania 41, but Scott’s interference helped Cena win the Undisputed WWE Championship.

During his appearance on The Pat McAfee Show this week, The Rock said that Scott — a Houston native — has plans to train in the ring with Booker T. Rock was not sure if that training has already begun or not.

Paul “Triple H” Levesque said at the post-WrestleMania 41 night two press conference that Scott is like Bad Bunny in that both musicians are so passionate about WWE. When asked if Scott will ever have a match, Levesque said people will have to tune in and see.

Bad Bunny has already competed for WWE three times from 2021-2023. He told Rolling Stone that he remains in contact with WWE and wants to wrestle one more time.

Bad Bunny on potential WWE return: ‘I want to do it one more time’

Music superstar Bad Bunny is hoping to have one more WWE match.

Bad Bunny impressed fans with strong performances at WrestleMania 37 and Backlash 2023, along with appearing as an entrant in the 2022 Royal Rumble. It’s been nearly two years since he last wrestled, but Bad Bunny still wants to compete in the ring again. He told Rolling Stone that he remains in contact with WWE, though it does not sound like the two sides have set any timeframe for when his potential return to the ring would happen.

“I want to do it one more time. I want to put my life at risk in the ring. I felt like I didn’t risk it enough in the ring, and I want to do it,” Bad Bunny said. “I want to scare my mother. When? I don’t know. We stay in contact with the people at WWE, we’re always paying attention to what’s going on. But when, I don’t know. I hope there’s a time where I can really get ready, like I did the last few times. And I’d love to take more time to get ready physically.

Backlash 2023 took place from Bad Bunny’s home of Puerto Rico. With the LWO helping him fend off interference by Judgment Day, he defeated Damian Priest in a street fight that night.

In his Rolling Stone interview, Bad Bunny mentioned that WWE is bringing Backlash to Mexico. Whether there is any validity to that remains to be seen. A fake graphic claiming that Mexico will host Backlash 2025 has been circulating on social media recently.
