Jeff Hardy reveals he’s been working injured since NXT Halloween Havoc

Jeff Hardy revealed during a recent interview that he has been working with two bulging discs in his neck.

Hardy said he has been dealing with the injury since he and his brother Matt Hardy dropped the NXT Tag Team Championships to DarkStage in a Broken Rules match at NXT Halloween Havoc.

Hardy made the comments during a recent appearance on The Budget Cut podcast.

“I’ve been dealing with an injury since we dropped the titles at NXT. I actually got two bulging discs on the left side of my neck,” Jeff Hardy said.

“It’s definitely better than it was at first, but we’ve been slower for two months now. Naturally, that’s a little stress creator for me, but I’m cleared.”

The Hardys have two TNA matches scheduled for next week. They will team with Elijah on the TNA Impact debut on AMC on Thursday, January 15. The Hardys will then put the TNA World Tag Team titles on the line against The Righteous at Genesis on January 17.

Hardy’s comments about his injury begin around three minutes into the interview. The video below is cued.

Matt Hardy thinks new TNA TV deal could lead to more WWE crossovers

Matt Hardy believes TNA’s new television deal could open the door for some WWE main roster stars to cross over into the promotion.

The WWE-TNA relationship is set to continue as TNA Wrestling enters into a new era on AMC. So far, the partnership has largely been between TNA and the NXT brand. But Hardy thinks we could potentially see main roster talent pop up in TNA now. He also feels confident that the partnership will lead to himself and his brother Jeff showing up at a WWE main roster event.

“I feel very confident you are going to see The Hardy Boyz show up on a main roster show, maybe a main roster pay-per-view, who knows? Anything can happen now,” Hardy told Reel Appreciation. “And I think you’re going to see WWE main roster talent even coming over to TNA now that we’re on AMC. I think it’s a game-changer, and I think it’s going to make wrestling so much more fun and so much more unpredictable. And wrestling is at its best when it’s unpredictable.”

TNA Impact will air on AMC and AMC+ every Thursday starting next week (January 15). Going into this new era, Matt Hardy sees himself and Jeff as locker room leaders in TNA. They are still feeling good physically and want to deliver the best matches they can.

“It’s huge, it’s massive,” Hardy said about the AMC deal. “Because AMC is on every basic cable package. If you have cable TV, you get AMC. Every hotel has AMC. So we’re back in the game, man. You know, TNA — they did great things with Spike. After the Spike deal went away, they were struggling [for a few years] and they were getting by. And now, we’re back in the game. We’re back on the same level as a WWE, as an AEW. So it’s really exciting. And the thing I’m most happy about is that it makes the pro wrestling industry healthier.”

Jeff added that, with AMC known for its high-quality dramatic programming, he could see TNA producing some “badass cinematic matches” on the channel.

“Thinking about shows like Breaking Bad [and] The Walking Dead, I could see some really, like, badass cinematic matches happening in TNA on AMC,” Jeff said.

The Hardys have re-signed with TNA, and Matt told Reel Appreciation that they are not thinking about retirement at the moment or putting any kind of timeline on when they want to end their careers.

“We feel great. We feel like we’re 30 years old. And we’re both ready to rock and roll, man,” Matt said. “And we’re ready to kill it with TNA on AMC.”

Matt Hardy names one thing he regrets about in-ring style

If Matt Hardy could go back in time, he would preserve his body by delivering fewer top rope leg drops.

Safety in wrestling has been a big topic lately after William Regal urged young wrestlers to stop doing “stupid” moves where they drop each other on their heads. Matt Hardy agreed with Regal’s advice and said it’s something that every wrestler in every promotion should consider.

When asked if he has any regrets about the risks he’s taken in his own career, Hardy responded to a fan on social media and said he would change his style on house shows — including limiting how often The Hardy Boyz did their “Event Omega” move. It’s a double-team maneuver where Matt hits a leg drop from the top rope while Jeff Hardy simultaneously delivers a splash.

“Yes. Biggest one being changing my style on house shows/live events,” Matt wrote. “Jeff & I used to do our finish ‘Event OMEGA’ (simultaneous legdrop/splash off opposite top ropes) every single night. Our schedule was 10 days on, 4 days off. WOULD NOT do the top rope legdrop every night again.”

Despite the risks they’ve taken, The Hardys are still active with Matt now being 51 years old and Jeff being 48. They are the current TNA Tag Team Champions and have signed new contracts with the promotion.

Matt tweeted that one thing he strives to do in TNA is teach young talent how to take calculated risks.

“I take great pride in @ThisIsTNA’s recent resurgence & I’m fully invested in growing the TNA brand larger than ever,” he wrote. “I also strive to teach younger guys & gals how to have longevity & ‘get over’ whilst taking smart, calculated risks. I appreciate a great match where 2 guys bust their asses & kill it & work the crowd into a frenzy. But how far is too far? Every wrestler playing the character of a superhero or supervillain do not have superhuman abilities, they are all mortal human beings who can be crippled in an instant. Our industry can’t forget this. The industry’s fans should also respect this fact, especially those who claim to be ‘smart’ fans.”

Matt Hardy calls for ‘generational dream match’ at WWE WrestleMania

Matt Hardy has a “generational dream match” in mind for WWE WrestleMania.

After The Usos won the World Tag Team titles on Raw last night, Hardy posted a tweet congratulating Jimmy & Jey on their victory. He also suggested a triple threat match for WrestleMania that would see The Usos defend their newly won belts against The Hardy Boyz and New Day.

“Congrats, @WWEUsos! Well deserved win as you guys absolutely killed it,” Hardy wrote. “Maybe at
@WrestleMania, it’s time for The Usos vs The New Day vs The Hardy Boyz in a generational dream match.”

Kofi Kingston of The New Day appeared to like Hardy’s idea, responding to his tweet with an eyes emoji.

Matt & Jeff Hardy also currently hold gold as the TNA Tag Team Champions. They’ve re-signed with TNA but could still be involved with WWE through the partnership the two promotions have together. The Hardys have already worked some NXT matches, including having a brief reign with the NXT Tag Team titles.

Last night’s Raw main event saw The Usos defeat AJ Styles & Dragon Lee to become the new World Tag Team Champions. This is the ninth Tag Team title reign for The Usos and the first time they have been champions together since 2023.

Matt Hardy: Vince McMahon had ‘real weird’ rivalry with Jim Ross

On a new episode of his podcast, Matt Hardy addressed the “real weird” rivalry that once existed between Vince McMahon and Jim Ross in WWE.

Ross recently opened up the dynamic between himself and McMahon, saying he felt like McMahon’s animosity came from a place of jealousy because McMahon was never as good of a play-by-play announcer as he was. Ross felt like McMahon never wanted to give him credit for his part in shaping the Attitude Era despite Ross building WWE’s roster at the time.

The Hardy Boyz were two of the stars that Ross signed during that time period. Reacting to Ross’ comments about McMahon, Matt Hardy said he thinks McMahon got off on putting people in uncomfortable positions. While that might help some people grow, Hardy thinks McMahon’s approach was abusive at times. And McMahon especially seemed to enjoy making Ross uncomfortable.

“I felt like Vince had a thing — Vince had a thing for, like, putting people in positions which made them feel uncomfortable. And he kind of got off on that, in all honesty,” Hardy said on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy. “That was, like, one of his things. I felt like he did that with JR quite a bit. You know, that became a regular, common thing.

“There were certain people. I felt like if you ever showed signs of weakness, or like, ‘No, I don’t want to do that.’ Or like being uncomfortable, like if you were outright uncomfortable with it, then he would push it even harder. Because I know there’s some people that did get that. You know, I felt like anytime he put us in positions where, and I feel like sometimes he said like, ‘If you don’t go into areas or positions where you feel uncomfortable, you will never grow.’ And in some ways that is true, but in some ways too, I think he was abusive with it as well. And JR probably was one of the guys he was more abusive with in many ways. There was, like, this real weird rivalry between them in some ways.”

McMahon’s humiliation of Ross often spilled over to WWE programming, including the infamous “Kiss My Ass Club” segment that took place in 2001.

Along with being an announcer for WWE, Ross was a key behind-the-scenes player as the head of talent relations. Hardy credited Ross for being ahead of the curve on signing athletic talent. Without Ross signing both teams, The Hardyz vs. Edge & Christian rivalry never would have happened.

McMahon resigned from WWE in January 2024 following the lawsuit filed against him by former company employee Janel Grant. The still-ongoing suit accuses McMahon of physical and emotional abuse, sexual assault, and sex trafficking. WWE as a company is also named as a defendant.

The 73-year-old Ross is currently signed to AEW and contributes on commentary for pay-per-view events.

Matt Hardy reveals contract status with TNA Wrestling

Matt and Jeff Hardy have re-signed with TNA Wrestling.

Fightful Select reported on Saturday that while they had not heard that the Hardys had signed long-term deals with TNA Wrestling, the belief was they would do so shortly. According to a social media post from Matt Hardy on Monday, the brothers have been re-signed “for a while.”

“BTW, we’ve been re-signed for a while. Merry Christmas, guys!” Hardy wrote.

Matt Hardy’s comments were in response to an episode of the Mike & JD podcast where they discussed the Hardys’ impact on TNA Wrestling.

“The Hardy Boys have been great for TNA. Everybody wants to point to WWE as being the sole reason for TNA’s upswing in business but the Hardy Boys are very much a part of that,” Mike Gilbert said on the show.

The Hardys are coming off having successfully defended the TNA Tag Team titles against High Ryze at TNA Final Resolution on December 5. They also defended their House of Glory tag titles this weekend with a win over Lance Anoa’i and Zilla Fatu on Friday, in a match that saw Anoa’i turn on Fatu.

Hardy’s social media post is below.

Report: Update on The Hardys’ TNA contract status

With TNA locking in several talent deals ahead of January, a new update has emerged on The Hardys’ contract status.

Fightful Select’s latest report shared that sources informed them that 51-year-old Matt Hardy and 48-year-old Jeff Hardy have not officially signed new contracts with TNA. However, they noted that a deal is expected to be done very soon with a potential long-term agreement. It has also been speculated internally that the two are the highest-paid talent in the promotion.

TNA’s current approach with many of its in-ring talent includes short-term monthly deals which are designed to allow flexibility during the eventual transition to AMC which begins in mid-January.

The brothers are four-time TNA World Tag Team Champions and are at 154 days in their current reign. They also held the NXT Tag Team titles this year and have made several appearances on Tuesday nights as part of the crossover.

Linda McMahon, Matt Hardy, and more pay respect to John Cena

Several pro-wrestling veterans, including Linda McMahon, Matt Hardy, Christopher Daniels, and Jon Stewart, paid tribute to John Cena on social media ahead of his retirement match at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

With Cena set to step into the ring for the final time, figures from across the wrestling and entertainment industries reflected on his legacy and impact just hours before the bout.

Linda McMahon wrote on her social media,

“These words embody why JohnCena is so loved – ‘I don’t care who gets the credit as long as the work gets done.’”

Matt Hardy also joined the list as he wrote,

“Appreciate your acknowledgements of greatness, @NoNamexVincent! I will honor the GOAT @JohnCena as well – Here’s John & I doing a Make-A-Wish together in 2018.”

Current AEW star Christopher Daniels also joined in,

“Thank you John. And congratulations on all your success. Sorry we only did this once.”

Actor and comedian Jon Stewart reflected on his iconic moment against John Cena from 2015, as he wrote,

“Dear ⁦@JohnCena⁩, It was an honor being dropped by you…on my head…from a surprisingly terrifying height…onto an unreasonably hard surface. Godspeed Sir.”

Multiple other iconic names, such as Saraya, Maria Kanellis, Carmella, and others, also paid their respects with the hashtag, “#ThankYouCena.”

Cena is a 17-time World Champion and a Grand Slam Champion, with a career spanning over two decades. The veteran is now finally set to hang up his boots.

He is scheduled to face Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13th, 2025.

Matt Hardy takes issue with Dax Harwood’s comments on ‘5-star matches’

Matt Hardy and Dax Harwood got into an exchange on social media recently.

The root of the issue appears to be comments Hardy made on his podcast, saying that TNA needs to focus on stories rather than “five-star matches.” On the same day that story circulated, Harwood posted the below statement to X:

“I think, in wrestling, the older you get, the more you complain about ‘5 star matches’. I also think, the older you get, the more you (secretly) wish you had 5 star matches. Whatever a 5 star match even is.”

When someone suggested Harwood stop listening to our own Dave Meltzer, Harwood responded:

“I think calling Dave a moron is insane. He’s probably wrestling’s most accurate historian. While I may not agree with some of his star ratings, that doesn’t mean he’s wrong. That means he has a different opinion than I do; which is absolutely ok! To me, BrainBusters vs Hart Foundation SS 89 is a 5 star tag match. To Dave, it’s a 2. Who’s wrong? Who’s right? Who gives a fuck? As long as we all enjoy wrestling!”

On Wednesday, Hardy responded to Harwood, believing his comments about five-star matches were related to Hardy’s podcast remarks.

Hardy wrote:

“I think, on wrestling twitter, if you’re gonna decide to moan about someone’s take, you should @ them, @DaxFTR. I also think, the older I get, I give less than a fuck about what someone on the internet thinks a 5 star match is. What I care about what our matches are drawing at the box office & how they make people feel. I enjoy FTR’s work ethic & talent. I also think @AEW emphases “matches” more than “story/character/emotional investment” & it makes it challenging to grow your audience from a niche core – Which is MY opinion. I want AEW to succeed, it’s good for the industry. I love & enjoy great matches that get me emotionally invested. I don’t (secretly) wish I ‘had 5 stars matches.’
Whatever a 5 star match even is.
Who’s wrong? Who’s right? Who gives a fuck? As long as we all enjoy wrestling! (Your words in this same thread)”

Harwood then responded to Hardy:

“Matt, I have no idea what you’re talking about, why you think this is about you, or why you’re so upset with me. I’ve only EVER had good things to say about you & your brother and what you’ve meant to tag team wrestling. I thought, until today, we always had a great relationship.”

As of this writing, that is the last public message between the two of them.

While several of The Hardys’ matches against Edge & Christian and The Dudley Boyz were rated four and three-quarter stars or four and one-half stars, Matt Hardy has never had a five-star match. Harwood has had seven matches ranked five-stars or greater, including FTR’s dog collar match against The Briscoes that was given five and one-half stars.

Matt Hardy says AEW run led him to ask ‘Why am I still doing this?’

Matt Hardy says his latest run with TNA Wrestling has helped both him and his brother Jeff rediscover their love for wrestling.

On the latest episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Hardy explained that during the final stretch of his AEW run, he started questioning whether he wanted to continue wrestling. That has since changed after spending the past year and a half working in TNA.

“During those times in AEW, there were times where both myself and Jeff, especially me when I was there and I wasn’t really do anything, it just made me question, why am I still doing this? I love this, but it kind of doesn’t feel like something I love right now.”

Hardy also said Jeff dealt with feelings of guilt after his DUI arrest in 2022, which led to The Hardys being used less on AEW programming until they ultimately left the company in April 2024 and returned to TNA shortly after.

Matt continued:

“Ultimately, what we needed to do was leave and go to TNA and then we found that again. And I am as much in love with the business as I have ever been this year.”

Matt would like him and his brother to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame while continuing their run in TNA Wrestling.

“I think we would like to do something proper to wind things down. And we’ve said this a couple of times in WWE, and then maybe off into the sunset and do the Hall of Fame. I would want to do the TNA and the WWE Hall of Fame and I think Jeff would as well.”

The Thursday, October 30, edition of TNA Impact featured a special look at the Broken Hardys universe, revisiting four of their cinematic matches from 2016 in TNA. The Hardys are also coming off dropping the NXT Tag Team titles at Halloween Havoc to DarkState.

TNA Wrestling’s Carlos Silva teases contract update for Matt & Jeff Hardy

TNA Wrestling’s Carlos Silva says he’s looking forward to many more years with Matt and Jeff Hardy.

Fightful reported last week that the brothers’ TNA contracts were set to expire soon, but that the company was hoping to re-sign them. Silva posted to social media on Saturday that he is looking forward to “many years of positive vibes” with the brothers, leading fans to speculate that a deal may have been reached.

He wrote:

“Thank you to Matt and Jeff for being part of the @ThisIsTNA team. Such a pleasure to work with you and look forward to many years of positive vibes together. @MATTHARDYBRAND @JEFFHARDYBRAND”

Silva’s post came on the same day The Hardys and their Bound for Glory opponents, Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley, appeared at a Bound for Glory Q&A/Hardy Party event held at Kowloon’s in Saugus, MA.

“Thank you Andy and @KowloonSaugus what a great night with @MATTHARDYBRAND @JEFFHARDYBRAND @bullyray5150 @TestifyDVon See you Sunday night for a match for the ages”

The Hardys will defend both the TNA and NXT Tag Team Championships tonight at Bound for Glory against The Dudley Boys in Lowell, MA.

TNA announces Hardys-Dudleys ‘Final Negotiation’

Before their match at Bound for Glory, The Hardys and Dudley Boyz will interact on an upcoming episode of TNA Impact.

TNA Wrestling has announced that Matt & Jeff Hardy and Bully Ray & D-Von will all be in attendance at the company’s TV taping in Minneapolis this Friday night. They’ll take part in a “Final Negotiation” segment to build up their TNA Tag Team title match at Bound for Glory.

Bound for Glory will be the last time The Hardys and Dudleys — legendary rivals dating back to the Attitude Era — ever face each other. The match was set up when Bully Ray confronted The Hardys after their TNA Tag Team title victory this July at Slammiversary.

D-Von Dudley has mostly been away from the ring since 2016. He suffered a stroke in 2020 and underwent spinal surgery in 2022 but had a few matches from 2023-2024. Ahead of returning for this final match, D-Von is feeling good physically after dropping a significant amount of weight.

Bound for Glory is taking place on October 12 in Lowell, Massachusetts.

Minneapolis is hosting a live TNA Impact episode this Thursday and then TV tapings the next night. The live episode will include a six-person tag match with The Hardys & Mara Sade facing John Skyler, Jason Hotch & Tasha Steelz.

The Hardy Boyz, Dudleyz appear at WWE SummerSlam

Two all-time great tag teams were in attendance for night two of WWE SummerSlam 2025.

In honor of August being the 25th anniversary of the first-ever TLC match, The Hardy Boyz and Dudleyz attended SummerSlam at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey tonight and were shown in the front row. Along with Edge & Christian, they pioneered the TLC match with the bout first taking place at SummerSlam 2000.

Edge & Christian, the victors of the inaugural tables, ladders & chairs match, are both signed to AEW and therefore were not at SummerSlam tonight. Michael Cole did mention them on commentary, however.

WWE recently did a countdown of the top 25 matches in SummerSlam history, ranking The Hardyz vs. Dudleyz vs. Edge & Christian at number six.

Matt & Jeff Hardy are the current TNA Tag Team Champions — and they’re set to face off against Bubba Ray & D-Von Dudley one last time at TNA Bound for Glory this October. With the close working relationship WWE has with TNA, Cole plugged the Bound for Glory matchup when the two legendary teams appeared tonight.

The SmackDown tag division was featured in a six-pack TLC match on tonight’s card, with Dexter Lumis & Joe Gacy of The Wyatt Sicks defeating Motor City Machine Guns, The Street Profits, DIY, Fraxiom, and Andrade & Rey Fenix to retain the WWE Tag Team titles.

The Hardy Boyz set for GCW return

The Hardy Boyz are set to make an appearance for Game Changer Wrestling during SummerSlam weekend in New Jersey.

GCW has announced Matt & Jeff Hardy for the promotion’s Hit Em Up show on Friday, August 1. It’s stated that The Hardys will be appearing live, but there are no opponents announced or confirmation on whether Matt & Jeff will be competing.

The GCW show is being held at Williams Center in Rutherford, New Jersey and will air live on TrillerTV+.

Jeff Hardy debuted for GCW with an appearance in 2023 while his brother Matt worked a couple of dates for the indie group in 2024. Back in April of this year, the two defeated D-Von Dudley’s sons Terrell & Terrence at a For The Culture event that GCW was involved in promoting.

The Hardys will also be signing autographs and taking pictures with fans at WrestleCon’s SummerSlam weekend convention in Newark, New Jersey on August 1-2. After that, they’ll be in Maine on August 9 to wrestle for indie promotion Limitless Wrestling.

At TNA Slammiversary last night, The Hardys won a four-way ladder match to become the new TNA Tag Team Champions. There was then an angle setting up that Matt & Jeff will face The Dudley Boyz for one final time at TNA Bound for Glory this October.
