Matt Hardy says TNA changing time of Slammiversary to avoid AEW Forbidden Door was the “right move”

TNA star Matt Hardy recently discussed the fact that TNA Slammiversary, AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2026 and NXT Great American Bash 2026 will all be taking place on Sunday, June 28th.

Speaking on his podcast, Hardy would say that Slammiversary having to change start time was the “right move” for the company, rather than trying to go head to head with Forbidden Door:

“TNA announces Slammiversary, then Forbidden Door is announced…we move earlier in that day, which is the right move for us, no doubt, we’re going on at four. Then all of a sudden, there’s NXT. There’s going to be three premium live events, what a night!”

That 4 p.m. start time for the PPV now avoids a direct head-to-head with Forbidden Door, which AEW
has advertised as having a 7 p.m. start. 7pm was the original start time for Slammiversary, but as Hardy recognises, it makes sense to not try and go head-to-head and potentially lose out on viewers.

AEW vs NXT vs TNA

NXT Great American Bash 2026, however, WILL be starting at 7 PM EST on The CW. This isn’t the first time that we’ve seen an NXT show go head-to-head with AEW. As is usually the case in recent head-to-head situations, it’s an NXT show on television competing with an AEW PPV event, as opposed to the old ‘Wednesday Night Wars’ between NXT and Dynamite.

It should be an intriguing night, especially when it comes to viewing figures on all three shows, and we’ll be keeping track of all three right here on f4wonline.com.

TNA Slammiversary 2026 ticket sales struggling with weeks to go

TNA Slammiversary 2026 ticket sales are struggling just under a month/weeks out from the show, which takes place at the Agganis Arena in Boston, MA on Sunday, June 28th 2026.

According to the latest report from WrestleTix, 1,258 tickets have been distributed for the event. This is up +56 since the last update 7 days ago and the current Cheapest Ticket (Standard Admission) is $61.90.

The current setup for the show (so tickets available) is 3,512, but there are around 6,251 on the map for a pro wrestling event setup.

For context, this show is the same day as AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. However, that event is taking place from the SAP Center in San Jose, California, so practically the opposite side of the country. While this likely is not affecting the ticket sales for Slammiversary, it’s worth bearing in mind.

FAQ and further context

When and where is TNA Slammiversary 2026?

TNA Slammiversary 2026 takes place on Sunday, 28 June 2026, at Agganis Arena in Boston, Massachusetts. Bell time hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, but TNA PPVs usually kick off around 8pm ET / 1am BST.

How much are tickets?

The cheapest Standard Admission seat is sitting at $61.90 as of writing. Premium and ringside prices go up from there, and the cheap seats tend to disappear first as the show gets closer to bell time. With 1,063 tickets distributed and 48 days still on the clock, there’s plenty of availability left.

Where do I buy tickets?

Through Ticketmaster, the standard route for Agganis Arena events. TNA’s own website links directly to the on-sale page if you want to go through that route instead.

TNA Slammiversary avoids direct competition with AEW Forbidden Door

Though the pay-per-views are taking place on the same day, TNA Slammiversary and AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2026 won’t directly be going head-to-head.

The start time for Slammiversary is now listed as 3 p.m. Eastern on Ticketmaster and on the website for Agganis Arena. That venue in Boston is hosting Slammiversary on Sunday, June 28. Forbidden Door will take place on the other side of the country later that night, with the PPV being held at the SAP Center in San Jose, California. The start time for Forbidden Door is listed as 7 p.m. Eastern (4 p.m. Pacific).

TNA will still face tough sports competition due to Slammiversary going against a second-round World Cup soccer game that afternoon.

Competition between TNA and AEW has become a story over the past month after TNA pulled its talent from scheduled indie matches against AEW wrestlers. In an interview with Busted Open Radio, TNA President Carlos Silva accused AEW of trying to “come at” TNA by airing programming against Impact and allegedly blocking TNA from some venues. The issues appear to stem from an episode of AEW Collision that was moved to Thursday night opposite Impact due to a scheduling conflict with NCAA March Madness.

TNA’s PPV schedule for 2026 includes events in Chicago, Boston, Tampa, and Edmonton (Canada).

Report: Location being finalized for TNA Slammiversary

The location for this year’s TNA anniversary show may be a familiar one.

Jon Alba of Sports Illustrated is reporting that TNA is planning to hold this year’s Slammiversary event at the UBS Arena in Belmont, New York, the same site as last year’s show. According to Alba, the negotiations to bring the pay-per-view back to New York is in its final stages, with contracts expected to be signed shortly for not just Slammiversary, but for TNA’s other remaining major shows of 2026.

TNA announced last year’s show as having a crowd of 7,623, a North American attendance record for the promotion. The show featured the return of AJ Styles to TNA for the first time since 2014. The main event had Trick Williams successfully defending the TNA World Championship against Joe Hendry and Mike Santana in a three-way match.

TNA’s next special event is Sacrifice, which takes place on March 27. That will feature Santana defending the TNA World title against Steve Maclin, Leon Slater defending the X Division title against Eric Young, and Arianna Grace facing Lei Ying Lee and Dani Luna in a three-way for the Knockouts title.
