After not making it into the Casino gauntlet match at All In, Evil Uno will battle Jacoby Watts.

Other announced action includes Johnny TV vs. Sidney Akeem, Blake Christian vs. Rosario Grillo, and Leila Grey vs. Promise Braxton, in addition to matches featuring both Top Flight & Action Andretti and former ROH Pure Champion Josh Woods.

**********

Thursday arrived as Thursday does and that means Ring of Honor action! The “Board of Directors” Era of ROH was in full effect and as such, the card was jam-packed with good matchups. Starting with with the huge opening match:

PROVING GROUND MATCH: ROH Women’s World Champion Athena defeated Aleah James

ROH’s “Forever Champion” graced us all with her presence and offered James the gift of a Proving Ground match (Athena’s 31st since winning the title). That meant that if James could last until the 10-minute time limit or pin the champion outright, she would get a shot at the ROH Women’s Championship at a later date. Athena had one eye over her shoulder though as not only has she been having difficulty with demoted Minion-in-Training Billie Starkz, but also Abadon has been lurking near the champ in recent days.

Athena has been ROH champion for a million billion days and someone like James was an opponent that didn’t really require her to do much beyond going through the motions. Even when James got in a quick flurry of offense, it didn’t seem like Athena really was going to have a problem with her.

James managed a surprise two-count after a flying crossbody, which got the Champ’s attention. Athena turned up the heat at that point, with big clubbing strikes and a series of powerbombs. Finally, Athena locked in the crossface submission and James tapped out.

-After the match, Athena mocked James and was about to lay in a beating when Abadon showed up! Athena’s eye’s filled with fear as Abadon stared her down in the ring. The crowd chanted “this is spooky” and Abadon chased Athena from the ring where Starkz lay in wait and clocked Abadon with the ROH Women’s Championship belt, knocking her out cold.

Johnny TV w/Taya Valkyrie defeated Sidney Akeem

Akeem has been making a name for himself on the indies lately, partially because of his background training with Cirque de Soleil. That matched up pretty well with the parkour-focused Johnny TV who was looking to spoil Akeem’s ROH debut.

The two seemed a little shaky off the top, but quickly reset with some speed and high dropkicks, ending up with TV on the outside to regroup with Valkyrie. Because of his gymnastics background, Akeem was able to keep up with TV no problem. TV changed up his strategy and tried to keep Akeem on the ground, taking away some of his skills.

TV hit a shining Wizard on Akeem and headed up for Starship Pain. Unfortunately, two things happened: 1) Akeem rolled out of the way, and 2) TV clipped the rope with his foot causing him to land hard on his head. By design or accidental, it looked like it dazed him pretty good.

After a swinging neckbreaker, TV tried another Starship Pain, this time landing it on the prone Akeem. TV rolled him over for the 1-2-3.

Lance Archer defeated “Ozzy”

Archer made a surprise appearance, dragging his opponent, a young man known only as “Ozzy” down to the ring. Archer did not say why he was there, or why he jumped the much smaller Ozzy in the back. He just toyed with him and beat the living hell out of him for a few minutes before hitting a Blackout and pinning him to get the win? I guess?

-We were then joined by Shane Taylor of Shane Taylor Promotions and ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty. Taylor ran down Moriarty’s opponent for the night Angelico. Moriarty suggested that Angelico protect his neck in their main event match.

RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Champion Mina Shirakawa defeated Rachael Ellering

For those not in the know, Revolution Pro Wrestling (RevPro) is a British wrestling promotion founded in 2012 by Andy Quildan after separating from International Pro Wrestling: United Kingdom.

Shirakawa hasn’t been seen in ROH since a surprise Stardom showcase trios match at Supercard of Honor. Ellering won a tough battle against Brooke Havok three weeks ago, which one has to think puts her in title contention.

Ellering had a size advantage on the Joshi star, but Shirakawa was able to keep pace with her until Ellering picked her up and attempted to side slam her. Shirakawa was able to wriggle free and taunt Ellering, causing her to lose focus and give Shirakawa a chance to lay in some big kicks.

Ellering, who used a more technical style, didn’t seem prepared for the bouncy, high-energy style of Shirakawa. Ellering resorted to clubbing blows, lariats and standing kicks to imposer her will on Shirakawa. Shirakawa fought back with some spinning kicks and back elbows, stunning Ellering.

Ellering hit a pendulum slam out of a fisherwoman’s suplex that seemed to do some real damage to Shirakawa’s shoulder. That didn’t stop her from climbing to the top rope and landing a big splash on Ellering. Shirakawa grabbed Ellering and went for what looked like a crab hold at first, but instead Shirakawa pulled Ellering on her back and pinned her for the win!

Respect was being shown between the two women when suddenly Taya Valkyrie appeared! She tossed Ellering out of the ring and beat up Shirakawa, leaving her lying in the ring for reasons only she knows.

Top Flight (Darious and Duante) & Action Andretti w/ Leila Grey defeated Ace of Space Academy (LSG, Colton Charles, and GKM)

Andretti kicked things off with LSG, quickly isolating him in Top Flight’s corner. GKM tagged in next but found himself across from Darious who spun him into the feet of Andretti. GKM hit a splash in the corner that saw him getting at least 4 feet of air. Charles tagged in next showboating against Andretti. After a dropkick, Andretti hit a hot tag to Duante who cleared the ring.

Andretti hit a springboard crossbody from the top rope on GKM. Darious set up Colton for a big slam on the outside and Andretti and Top Flight hit a big triple team to knock GKM silly and get the pin.

EJ Nduka defeated Demo Diamond

The 2-0 Nduka arrived to big cheers from family and friends at ringside. The big man worked the crowd for a moment and then hopped into the ring to face Diamond, who was almost the same size. Almost.

The two locked up and when these two behemoths threw each other around the ring, you could feel each impact. Nduka hit a massive hammer strike on Diamond that seemed to send him spinning. Nduka continued with some should blocks in the corner until Diamond managed to get out of the way. Nduka didn’t give up the momentum for long though, planting Diamond with a massive spinebuster. An arrogant standing cover later and it was over, with Nduka emerging victorious.

-Rachel Ellering was interviewed by Lexy Nair backstage. Ellering was interrupted by Harley Cameron who introduced herself to Ellering, in spite of them having met before. Cameron mocked Ellering for losing and showered her with backhanded praise, calling her “kid” and then leaving a flustered Ellering.

Dark Order’s Evil Uno defeated Jacoby Watts w/ Nick Comoroto

Watts was all by himself this week, with his partner Nick Comoroto out of action for the year with injury. Evil Uno took a break from playing video games with Adam Cole to enter this singles bout, and has been on a really aggressive tear the last few weeks with his Dark Order compatriots.

Watts started the match off by trying to recruit Uno into his “flock.” Uno declined via punch to the face and the match began. Uno laid in some massive chops in the corner on Watts. Watts turned his back, trying to outsmart Uno, but Uno just chopped his back.

Comoroto approached Uno on the outside, but the Order’s John Silver was there and the two exchanged words as Watts hit a big clothesline in the ring. Uno fought back with a big boot and DDT. Uno got Watts up for a piledriver and was able to pull off a pin to get the victory.

Premier Athletes’ Josh Woods w/ Mark Sterling defeated Barrett Brown

Sterling yapped his way to the ring, hyping up Woods and tearing down the rest of ROH. Brown was definitely not as “premier” as Woods, giving up about 8 inches in height. Brown tried to lure Woods into a more technical match, but nothing he managed to hit on Woods really had much of an effect.

Woods hit a hige running knee and then threw Brown across the ring with a massive tombstone 540 suplex. He then sat on Brown to get the pin.

Leila Grey defeated Promise Braxton

Grey’s second appearance of the night was a singles match against Braxton. Top Flight and Andretti accompanied her to the ring, cheering on their Flight Attendant. Braxton had the chance to pick up a huge win if she could get by Grey.

Grey controlled the pace for the most part, lots of armdrags and off-the-rope strikes. Braxton tried to out-muscle Grey, but it didn’t seem to work for her as Grey reversed a hold into a massive slam. Grey hit a blockbuster off the top rope, but Brown only gave up a two count.

Grey put Braxton on her back with a full nelson slam and followed it up with a butterfly brainbuster to win the match.

Blake Christian defeated Rosario Grillo

Christian won 5 matches in the Best of The Super Juniors tournament in Japan. Not moving further in the competition seems to have weighed heavily on him and given him a bit of an attitude. Grillo is a student of the Nightmare Factory and Christian laid him out right off the top, with a vicious stretched shoulder stomp.

Christian threw Grillo around the ring for a bit then finally pinned him. There wasn’t much to this match, but Christian looked good, and has a bright future in ROH.

Tomohiro Ishii defeated Ariya Daivari

The Premier Athletes and the Conglomeration explode! Or, at the very least, had this match. Daivari had his athletic background to rely on and Ishii had the fact he appears to be made of stone to his advantage. Sterling ran down the Conglomeration on the way to the ring, claiming that the Premier Athletes have the class the Conglomeration does not.

Daivari didn’t really know what to do with Ishii. He tried chops, no dice. He tried tying up with no result. He even tried leaving, but that didn’t work either. Diavari made a critical mistake early on by putting Ishii in a headlock. Ishii, famously neckless, was able to break free easily and chop Daivari into next week.

On the outside, Daivari managed to get ahold of Ishii’s chopping hand and slam it into ringposts and the steel steps, robbing Ishii of one of his bigger weapons. Daivari was able to maintain control of the match, working the hand over and over.

Ishii fought back though, clotheslining Daivari in a circle. Ishii hit a big german suplex and a back ground elbow to knock Daivari out and get the pin. Ishii left favouring his chopping hand.

ROH PURE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: Lee Moriarty(c) w/Shane Taylor defeated Angelico w/ Serpentico

After a very impressive turn in his first-ever Pure Rules match last week, Angelico decided he was ready for the big time and issued this challenge to current ROH Pure Champion, Moriarty. In a Pure Rules match, each competitor gets three rope breaks and one closed fist warning and after that they are out of luck. If the match went to time, a panel of judges (Christphoer Daniels, Jerry Lynn and Paul Wight) would award the match based on points.

The gangly Angelico had about 6 inches in height on Moriarty, but in terms of pure muscle, Moriarty had the one-up on his opponent. Moriarty’s strategy seemed to be to keep Angelico still, locking in holds that didn’t give the high-flyer a chance to get into the flow of things.

From there, the match went back and forth, with neither man getting control over the other. They did dance though, so there was that. At 3:30, Moriarty used his first rope break and got some words of encouragement from Taylor. These two worked extremely well together, everything in the match flowed really well and it was a calm, yet edge-of-your-seat vibe. At 6:37, Angelico was forced to use his first rope break, and began favoring his shoulder.

Angelico managed to get an ankle lock on, causing Moriarty to use a second rope break at 8:08. Moriarty responded with a bridge stretch, causing Angelico to use his second rope break at 9:20. Moriarty hung up Angelico’s shoulder on the ropes and began to take control. He locked in a Kimoura on Angelico at 10:37, forcing the challenger to use his last rope break.

Angelico put Moriarty in a twisting figure four at 11:22 and Moriarty grabbed the rope by his fingertips, exhausting all rope breaks. The two exchanged moves back and forth until Moriarty got a surprise rollup on Angelico, ending the match at approximately 12:30 and keeping the belt on Moriarty. The two showed respect in the ring and Moriarty stood tall as the show came to a close.

ROH Women’s World Champion Athena will aim to keep her record-long title streak going as she defends against Queen Aminata.

**********

All right, friends! Here we go with Death Before Dishonor! Ring of Honor’s first special event since April’s Supercard of Honor. Much like that show, this one is packed with two World Title Matches, two TV Title Matches, tag and six-man action, a Texas Death Match and more! But first, the pre-show, Zero Hour.

ZERO HOUR: MxM Connection (Mason and Mansoor) defeated Spanish Announce Project (Serpentico and Angelico)

This was The MxM Connection’s big debut on ROH TV after several weeks of Zoolander-esque teases and vignettes.

After a very sexy Code of Honor Serpentico kicked things off against Mansoor. It was a slow start which was a bit of a surprise, but the two went back and forth in between Model poses. Sadly they weren’t executed by Serpentico, which would have been great given his mask.

Mason tagged in and it was then that I realized he as about a foot taller than Serpentico. Mason no-sold some chops and Serpentico gave up and tagged in his taller partner Angelico. Angelico caught a butt to the face from Mason, leading to a great pose from Mansoor. They tossed out their opponents and then danced and, yes, posed.

After a while, the posing caught on and Serpentico tried out his own set. This upset the MxM’ers and they jumped in to take both he and Angelico out. Mason nearly broke him in half with a spinebuster. That led to a nice bridge, but Angelico was able to break it up.

Serpentico laid out Mansoor with a big dive through the ropes and tossed him in to Angelico. A big splash led to a two-count and ref Aubrey Edwards made sure everyone knew it. Mason took on both Angelico and Serpentico, slamming them into opposite corners. The MxM Connection’s aggressive streak was on full display. After a double lateral press, the Connection both pinned Serpentico and got the win in their debut.

As they were walking to the back, who should appear but Maria. With Kole Karter out for a while, is she looking for new clients? We shall see!

-After the opening match, the Death Before Dishonor card was run down, complete with recap vignettes. That brought us to the second Zero Hour match, and it was a problem.

ZERO HOUR: Marina Shafir defeated Angelica Risk

Shafir has been embracing her agressive side as of late, taking down opponents with jujitsu and submission moves that look exceptionally painful. She taunted Risk off the top, but once the bell rang it was all business.

Risk came out agressive, landing huge chops across Shafir’s chest. She no-sold them all though and picked up the smaller woman and immediately locked in her Mother’s Milk submission. Risk passed out, and that was that.

ZERO HOUR: The Infantry (Sean Dean and Carlie Bravo) w/Trish Adora defeated Griff Garrison and Anthony Henry w/ Maria

The Infantry traded their usual camo for X-Men costumes for the match, which was very cool. Dean had some killer Cyclops glasses as well. Garrison and Henry had… Maria.

Bravo and Henry kicked things off, and it was a speedy affair. The Infantry isolated Henry right away and landed a series of splashes in the corner. Garrison tagged in and managed to get one up on Bravo with a big back elbow. Maria seemed pleased.

The momentum switched, and Henry stomped and chopped Dean in the corner. Henry went for a series of submission holds, including a Rings of Henry, but Dean wouldn’t give up.

The infantry had a bit of an advantage as they gelled really well like they always do, but Garrison and Henry didn’t have the same kind of history and cohesiveness as a team. At one point, Garrison was looking for his partner who was up on the ropes, rallying the crowd and didn’t notice.

After a couple of hot tags, Garrison ate a big flapjack from Bravo and Dean jumped in to clean house. They tried to land a Boot Camp on Garrison, but Henry grabbed Dean and tripped him up. After a superplex from Garrison and a double stomp from Henry, Bravo looked like he was done, but kicked out at two.

Maria jumped up on the apron to cause a distraction, but ended up getting knocked off into Garrison’s arms. The confusion let the Infantry hit Boot Camp on Henry and get the 1-2-3.

After the match, Top Flight came out and congratulated The Infantry on their win. They then continued to the ring.

ZERO HOUR: Top Flight (Darius and Duante) defeated The Outrunners (Turbo Floyd and Truth Magnum)

This match was the last match before the start of Death Before Dishonor. Ian Ricabonni let us know that if it ran over time, they would transition into the big show and keep on going!

Giving the MxM Connection a run for their posing money, The Outrunners controlled things off the top. Darious managed to fend off Magnum, and went to a quick cover, but there was a kickout.

Floyd tagged in and he and Magnum hit a double body slam on Darius. Darious fought back against Floyd, but a sneaky tag was made and Magnum reversed the momentum easily. The Ref became distracted by Duante and it allowed the Outrunners to double team Darious in their corner.

Darius fought his way out of the corner, but couldn’t make it past Floyd to get the tag. Floyd locked in a sleeper, grinding the match to a halt. Darius countered with a back suplex and the crowd was begging for the hot tag, which both teams made.

Duante laid into Magnum with a flurry of punches and a huge splash off the top rope. Magnum tried to help his partner, but Duante saw it coming and laid him out, or rather on top of his partner. A few quick kicks later and Magnum was on the shoulders of Darius who deliverd a massive slam while Duante took out Floyd to get the win and remain undefeated in ROH in 2024.

-With Zero Hour out of the way, it was time for Death Before Dishonor!

The Beast Mortos defeated Komander

This match had all the ingredients to be absolutely crazy. Putting Komander in the ring with Mortos is like putting a Frog in the ring with a Rhino. Komander’s speed and high-flying bag of tricks against the brutal violence of Mortos was an excellent juxtaposition and made for a really exciting match up.

Mortos grabbed Komander by the head and threw him into the ground for an opening move. Kmander tried a springboard to counter but Mortos caught him in the air and threw him into the ground.

Then Mortos caught Komander in the air again, outside of the ring this time, and threw him into the ground. There seemed to be a theme developing.

Back in the ring, Mortos delivered some hard chops, keeping control of the match pace. Komander wouldn’t go down though, coming back again and again only to face more pummelling.

After Mortos caught Komander and threw him into the ring post for a change, Komander writhed on the mat until Mortos picked him up and did it again. Komander’s high-flying offense was of no use against the Beast.

Komander tried to go high again, but Mortos rolled out of the ring to avoid it. Jumping down, Komander started getting some offense in with a big hurricanrana off the ring apron (the hardest part of the ring). With Mortos incapacitated, Komander ran along the ropes and delivered a huge splash on the outside. He followed that up with a near fall after a poisonrana.

Mortos fought back though and delivered a back drop that was so brutal it knocked MY wind out. A swinging mexican destroyer and a spear from Komander left both men on their backs as the match built to it’s conclusion.

Mortos then hit a series of backbreakers and slams driving Komander into the mat and picking up the victory.

-The MxM boys joined Lexy Nair to announce that they will be facing FTR on Collision tomorrow. But they did it with a lot more smoldering looks than you might think.

ROH Tag Team Champions Mike Bennett & Matt Taven defeated Tomohiro Ishii & Kyle O’Reilly

It was just a couple of weeks ago that long-time Tag Champs Bennett and Taven were lamenting the lack of “real competition” in ROH. They begged Tony Khan to deliver them some opponents and he has in the form of Ishii and O’Reilly. Amongst their international accolades, O’Reilly is a former ROH World and Tag Champion, and Ishii has held the ROH Television Title.

The real story here though was that Bennett and Taven weren’t sure piledriving Ishii would work, since he didn’t appear to have a neck.

Ishii and Bennett kicked things off and even though Ishii gave up a few inches to Taven, he managed o take some chops without blinking. He then returned the favour to Bennett and the chopfest began. Bennett broke first and fell to his knees. Ishii, chest bleeding like a stuck Jericho, tagged in O’Reilly which brought in Taven.

Taven had the advantage on O’Reilly until he was taken down by a double leg, uh, takedown. O’Reilly pulled Taven to the corner and tagged in Ishii who delivered a few of those chops to Taven so he matched his partner. O’Reilly tagged back in and locked Taven in an abdominal stretch. O’Reilly and Ishii chopped Taven until he crumbled. Bennett tried to help his partner, but was quickly dealt with.

After a few minutes, Ishii stopped selling just about anything until Bennett poked him in the eye. Ishii tagged in O’Reilly who took out both Bennett and Taven, wrenching the former’s knee on the ropes. O’Reilly and Ishii brawled with the champs on the outside, leading to all 4 men being laid out.

Back in the ring Taven took a series of hard kicks from O’Reilly. He obliged and then locked in a kneebar. Taven worked his way out though, throwing O’Reilly to the outside and hitting him with a springboard dive, possibly dislocating O’Reilly’s shoulder. Taven and Bennett double teamed O’Reilly while Ishii recovered, but weren’t able to get the pin.

O’Reilly managed to battle back just as Ishii returned and a hot tag was made. Ishii essentially assaulted both Taven and Bennett, but also couldn’t get a pin. Bennett grabbed Ishii from the outside, opening him up for big kick from Taven into a Hail Mary Piledriver, but Ishii popped up! He began punching both men until O’Reilly tagged in a s the legal man. He hit a big knee from the top and locked in a knee bar on Bennett. Taven responded with a frog splash from the top and Ishii punched him. Hard.

Ishii delivered a brainbuster on Bennett from the second rope and then occupied Taven while O’Reilly went for the pin. Taven and Ishii fought outside, while Bennett in the ring called for the Ref to check his knee.

Suddenly, Kyle Fletcher and Don Callis arrived at ringside. Callis distracted the Ref allowing Bennett to get a low blow in on O’Reilly without her seeing. He went for the pin and got the win, retaining the titles for his team.

Leyla Hirsch defeated Diamante in a Texas Death Match

This was the first-ever Women’s Texas Death Match in ROH. A couple of weeks ago, these two had a stellar Lights Out (aka Hardcore) match but it was clear that their issues were far from over. Diamante brought that street fighter swagger and Hirsch was tough as nails, so high hopes were had for this match.

Hirsch arrived in all black and awaited Diamante at the top of the ramp. The two women began swordfighting with chairs and Diamante threw Hirsch off the stage through a table. Hirsch got to her feet after a 9.5 count and Diamante joined her at the base of the stage. She dragged Hirsch to the ring and set her up in a tree of woe. Diamante then brought in four chairs while Hirsch hung helpess. Siamante set up the four chairs in front of her face and dropkicked them into her head.

Hirsch began bleeding from the forehead and Diamante propped a chair between the ropes and attempted to dropkick Hirsch into it. Hirsch dodged though and Diamante took herself out with the chair, causing a crimson mask of her own.

Hirsch pulled a bag from under the ring and emptied it, spreading thumbtacks all over the mat. HIrsch hit a twisting suplex off the second rope, land Diamante flat on her back in the tacks, jack. A second bag was poured over the prone body of Diamante and Hirsch tried to splash her from the top rope. Diamante dodged though, and Hirsch ended up in her own pile of tacks.

Diamante found a roll of duct tape and taped Hirsch to the second rope. She then beat Hirsch with the deadliest object known to man: A croc shoe she found under the ring. A second shoe was found and it was laced with tacks and Diamante ground them into Hirsch’s head.

Hirsch tried to break free, but was still bound by the duct tape as Diamante set up a group of chairs on the outside. It took too long though, and Hirsch was able to unwrap the tape. Diamante wasn’t bothered, and set up some barbed wire boards on the chairs. Hirsch fought back and used a big backdrop to drive Diamante through the boards and chairs from the ring apron.

A limping Hirsch then searched under the ring until she found a ladder. She tossed it in the ring and then followed up with a table.

Hirsch set up her toys in the ring while Diamante slowly climbed in. Hirsch laid Diamante on the table, and taped her in using the duct tape. She then climbed the ladder and landed a massive moonsault form the top of the ladder, crushing Diamante and the table. Hirsch was able to make it to her feet before the 10-count, but Diamante couldn’t so Hirsch was declared the winner.

Lee Moriarty Defeated Wheeler Yuta to win the ROH Pure Championship.

I love the Pure Championship and was very happy to see it being defended at Death Before Dishonor. Moriarty achieved what few have a few weeks ago and actually won a Proving Ground match to earn this title shot. Now he’s got a chance to do something even rarer and earn a title thanks to that win.

The judges were announced as Jerry Lynn, Paul Wight and Christopher Daniels. Each wrestler would get three rope breaks and no closed fist punches or outside interference were permitted in the match. The match would go for 30 minutes and if neither man got the win, the judges would award it.

The match began with a feeling out process, with Moriarty ending up using his first rope break to regroup on the outside. He climbed back in the ring and the two locked up. Moriarty found himself fighting out of an armbar and grabbing Yuta in a submission hold, forcing him to use his first rope break. The men entered into a classic test of strength which Yuta broke to apply an octopus hold. Moriarty broke the hold and Yuta used a closed fist which earned him a warning from the Ref.

Moriarty was forced to use his second rope break at the 7-minute mark after Yuta worked his shoulder. Moriarty responded with a swingaround hammerlock. This made him a little cocky and he posed over Yuta and then delivered a missile dropkick. Yuta fought back, but Moriarty remained in control until Yuta caught him with a clothesline.

At the 12-minute mark, both men were exhausted. Moriarty threw a punch that was determined to be a closed fist, earning him a warning as well. Moriarty locked in a crossface and Yuta inched towards the ropes. Moriarty dragged him to the center of the ring and cinched in the hold. Eventually, Yuta found the ropes and used his second rope break, leaving both men with one apiece.

Both men found themselves on the outside (which did not cost either a rope break). Yuta hit a big splash, and began wearing Moriarty down with some hard elbows. Moriarty fought back though and planted Yuta with a twisting slam. He then locked in a neck wrench submission forcing Yuta to use his third and final rope break at 17 minutes.

Yuta locked in a cattle mutilation leading to Moriarty using his final rope break as well. Now, there would be no more rope breaks and submission do not get broken up with the ropes. Moriarty hit a fallaway slam on the ring apron (the hardest part of the ring) and dragged Yuta back in for a flapjack and a two count.

Yuta collapsed in the ring, but was playing possum in order to lock in an armbar. Moriarty managed to roll Yuta into a pin and used the ropes (which is legal now that the breaks had been used) get the win and the ROH Pure Championship!

Yuta grabbed the belt and respectfully presented it to Moriarty. Respect and a great match with a new champion to boot!

Red Velvet Defeated Billie Starkz to win the ROH Women’s TV Championship

This match had history dating back to shortly before Supercard of Honor during the tournament to crown the ROH Women’s TV Champion that Starkz eventually won through nefarious means. Velvet was a participant in that tournament and did not like the end result, so she and Starkz have been at each other’s throats ever since. Starks had done well defending her title, but Velvet has some extra motivation going into the match, so it was a toss up as to who would come out on top.

Starkz arrived with a new Harley Quinn-ish look and Velvent jumped her immediately, getting the upper hand. Starkz responded by reversing a move into a vicious snake eyes on the turnbuckle. Starkz then put Velvet in a chin lock, and set up a tree of woe in the corner. Velvet wiggled out and Starkz deployed some chops in the corner.

Valvet fought her way back, putting Starkz in a corner for some chops of her own. Starks reversed a lock and took control again, attempting a squatting pin. Velvet kicked out though and powered up, delivering a high knee in the corner. Starkz staggered as Velvet laid her out with big punches.

Velvet put Starks up on the top rope and hit a sunset move to slam her into the mat. A two count was the result, as Starkz kicked out a little slower than previous attempts. Starks managed to reverse Mama’s Recipe into a chinlock chicken wing submission move. Velvet broke free, but Starkz followed up with a back breaker.

Starkz tried a hanging sleeper, standing on the top rope and letting Velvet hang. Velvet kicked her off though, leading to Starkz falling to the outside, seemingly injured, just like in the match that won her the TV Title. The refs and doctors checked on Starkz while Velvet waited in the ring.

Starkz made it back into the ring, but the Ref held Velvet off while the doctor checked Starkz out. Starks spring back up, obviously faking, and hit an insuguri knocking Velvet to the ground. While Starkz mugged to the crowd, Velvet played up an injury of her own, faking Starks out at her own game. Velvet hit Mama’s Recipe to get the pin and win the ROH Women’s TV Title!

ROH Six-Man Tag Team title eliminator: Dustin Rhodes, Ross Von Erich & Marshall Von Erich defeated Alex Reynolds, John Silver & Evil Uno

Always cool to see the Von Erich clan in ROH, and they brought Dustin Rhodes with them? Color me stoked! The Dark Order had a pretty good chance of walking away with this one, as they’ve been circling the ROH Six-Man titles for a while now and have great cohesion as a team. It’s kind of strange that it’s an Eliminator match for ROH titles that will be decided on an AEW show, but that’s just how things work in ROH sometimes.

The crowd was behind the Von Erichs, chanting for them before the bell. A brawl on the outside broke out, with all six men involved. The officials gained control eventually and Uno and Ross started things off officially.

It didn’t last long though, with Rhodes jumping in to help Ross, and being beat up for his trouble. With the ref distracted, Uno grabbed Rhode’s ropes and whipped Ross with them. Reynolds tagged in and Ross was immediately isolated in the Dark Order’s corner. Silver claimed the he invented The Claw (actually made famous by Fritz Von Erich) to a shower of boos.

Ross managed to fight off the Dark Order and make a hot tag to Marshall. Marshall cleaned house, ending up one-on-one with Silver. He loaded up a lariat and delivered to Silver in the corner. He followed that up with a cannonball and a two-count.

Marshall locked the Claw in on Uno, but Reynolds sprinted over a broke it up. Silver and Reynolds double teamed Marshall on the outside, utilizing their cohesiveness as a team. The Order dragged Marshall to their corner like they did Ross and Uno went for a two count. On the outside, Reynolds drove Rhodes’ knee into the ring steps, keeping him out of the fray.

Uno stole Marshalls hat and Reynolds and Silver spat in it, driving the Texan crowd nuts. The Order continued playing to the crowd, causing Reynolds to miss a moonsault on Marshall. Uno charged Rhodes on the outside, but Rhodes caught him and sent him into the ring steps. Rhodes stood waiting for a hot tag from Marshall. Once he got it, he threw Reynolds around like a rag doll. Rhodes started spamming powerslams, taking out the whole order in succession.

Shades of his brother, Rhodes it a Crossrhodes on Reynolds, but Uno and Silver broke up the pin. The Von Erichs jumped in and another brawl broke out in and outside the ring. When the dust settled, Reynolds tried to pin Rhodes, but only got a two. Reynolds then tried to set up Rhodes for a shattered dreams, but Rhodes fought out with a Canadian Destroyer and set up some shattered dreams of his own. Silver interfered though until Marshall locked the Iron Claw on him. Ross then got Uno in the Claw and Rhodes hit Reynolds with a huge slam, getting the pin and advancing his team to the six-man finals on Collision.

ROH TV Champion Atlantis Jr. defeated Lio Rush, Shane Taylor, Johnny TV, Brian Cage and Lee Johnson in a Survival of the Fittest elimination match

This will be the second defense for Atlantis Jr, having won the ROH TV Title from Kyle Fletcher a few weeks ago, and it promised to be a doozy. The six-way elimination match would be won by the last Pinfall or submission and there are some heavy hitters in the group. Rush, seemingly making a comeback in wrestling. Taylor looking to reach that next level. TV and Cage trying to use their experience and size to win some ROH gold, and Johnson; ROH’s resident “amazing but not quite able to win the big one” wrestler.

This match was amazing but absolute chaos. With six talents like this in the ring, it’s virtually impossible to give a blow-by-blow of the match, so here are the eliminations and high spots:

-The only ones to adhere to the Code of Honor were Cage and Atlantis.

-At one point, everyone ganged up on Taylor, but the 300+ pounder was able to fight them off and clear the ring. TV was able to get him off his feet, and Rush hit a big frog splash to eliminate Taylor.

-Johnson was able to catch Rush while he was flying by and pin him for the elimination.

-TV and Cage formed an alliance to take out Atlantis and Johnson. Cage hit a huge powerbomb on Johnson to eliminate him, leaving Atlantis, TV and Cage as the final three.

-TV turned on Cage before Cage could turn on TV and Atlantis took advantage of the distracted opponents to land a monkey flip on TV. Atlantis hit a Mexican Destroyer but was only able to get a two count on TV.

-Cage hit a second rope superplex on Atlantis and Taya Valkyrie jumped in for a distraction allowing TV to kick Cage right in the machines. TV hit a modified GTS but Cage bounced back and drilled TV into the mat to eliminate him.

-Atlantis and Cage were all the remained. Cage had a significant size advantage but Atlantis was able to catch him with a rollup and win the match, retaining his ROH TV Title.

ROH Women’s World Champion Athena defeated Queen Aminata

This match has been a long time in the making with several twists and turns along the way. First, Aminata lost to Athena’s #1 Minion, Billie Starkz though deceptive means in the ROH Women’s TV Title Tournament.  Then Athena was injured, supposedly very severely and was looking to be out for several months.

So it seemed strange when Athena wasn’t stripped or forced to relinquish the title and instead, was booked for a title defense vs Aminata at Death Before Dishonor. Over the last few weeks we’ve seen that Athena’s injury might not have been as bad as it seems, as she’s been jumping around and celebrating when she thought the cameras were off. Is Athena really injured? What role will the Minions play as Athena tries to stretch her title reign to 594 days, or forever. Whatever comes first.

To settle the big question, Athena stomped to the ring with confidence, seemingly recovered from her injury (if there ever was one in the first place). The crowd chanted “Forever” as the bell rang and the contest was under way.

Aminata had the height advantage, but Athena is a lot of power in a little package. Aminata tried hard to get momentum, but Athena was there matching her at every step. Aminata ended up on on the outside via a missed dive and Athena tossed her into the barricades and steel steps. She flew too close to the sun though and ended up going face-first into the steps herself via a drop-toe hold.

Athena continued using the stairs, setting them up on their side next to the ring. Aminata staggered to her feet and the two battled on the outside. Aminata slid back into the ring and Athena followed, wrenching her neck. Aminata reversed the hold and began raining down big strikes on Athena, sending her reeling. Athena reversed a powerbomb into a hurricanrana though, regaining the upper hand.

Aminata hit a massive knee leaving Athena hanging from the ring apron, dazed. Aminata threw her back in the ring and went up top for a double stomp and a near fall. Athena ducked a kick and delivered a big one of her own, getting a two-count of her own and slowing the pace of the match so she could deliver those hard strikes.

Aminata reversed a back handspring into a suplex, driving Athena’s skull into the turnbuckle. She followed it up with an Air Raid Crash and almost got the pin, but Athena wasn’t done yet. Athena caught a big boot and reversed it into an exploder suplex into the corner. The two women staggered to their feet and began exchanging forearms.

Athena managed to lock in a crossface submission on Aminata, but Aminata was able to get the rope break. The damage was done though as Athena just started slamming Aminata’s head into the mat. Aminata staggerd to her feet, favouring her leg and grabbed Athena on the ring apron. Athena reversed it and landed a massive piledriver on the steps that she set up earlier.

Tossing Aminata back in the ring, Athena went for the pin, but the challenger kicked out to the shock of the Champion. Aminata used a big headbutt and a butterfly pike driver, which brought out Starkz, followed by Velvet who brawled at ringside.

While the ref was distracted, Lexy Nair slipped Athena a microphone and Athena clocked Aminata with it, kocking her silly and eking out a victory, to push her title reign to 594 days. The Minions stood tall as we headed into the Main Event.

ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe defends against Roderick Strong

This match had main event greatness written all over it. Briscoe has been riding high all over AEW recently. He had a major role in this past Wednesday’s Blood & Guts match on Dynamite in which he got very physical as he’s known to do. Would he be at 100% to take on his old pal, Strong?

Strong was no slouch himself, as an official ROH Triple Crown Champion. He’s held the World Title, The Tag Titles and TV titles and this would be his first match in ROH since 2016. Strong has also unsuccessfully challenged Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Title and knocked Dalton Castle out of action in their match on Collision to become the ROH World Title #1 Contender.

The match began with a good dose of headlocks and Redneck Kung Fu. Briscoe seemd to be confident and in control as the match moved to the outside. Briscoe chopped Strong and threw him around the barricades, leading to Strong reversing momentum and gaining the upper hand until Briscoe tossed him into the crowd.

Briscoe took Strong back into the ring and tried to go fro a splash, but Strong moved out of the way. Briscoe tried a big elbow from the top rope, but Strong got his shins up and blocked it, throwing Briscoe around into a backbreaker.

Briscoe battled back with a little Redneck Kung Fu, taking control and causing Strong to bail out of the ring. Not deterred, Briscoe followed him and delivered a big Cactus Jack elbow off the apron onto strong on the ground. Briscoe tossed Strong back in the ring and climbed up top for a missile dropkick.

“Dem Boys” chants rained down as Briscoe tried to land a Jay Driller on the ring apron (the hardest part of the ring). Strong squirmed out though and managed to catch Briscoe with a back breaker on the ring apron (again, the hardest part of the ring). Strong, in control, chopped and punched Briscoe before driving his head into the steel ring post, busting him open.

Back in the ring, Strong began to pick apart Briscoe. First with some truly gruesome fishhooking, then a big back breaker. Strong rolled Briscoe into a Boston Crab, making Briscoe look like Steve Austin at Wrestlemania 13. Briscoe dragged himself to the rope and the hold was broken. Strong hit a big underhook pile driver, but Briscoe kicked out at one, wide eyed and ready to fight.

Briscoe caught his second wind and drove Strong into the mat for a Two-count. He climbed to the top rope, but Strong follwed and dropped him on the turnbuckle, before hitting a right angle slam from the second rope. A double clothesline sent both men to their backs and Briscoe began to regain steam first.

Briscoe and Strong exchanged weary blows with Briscoke setting up for a Jay Driller when suddenly Matt Taven arrived to cause a distraction. Strong took adventage and nailed Briscoe with the title belt, but Briscoe managed to kick out at two. O’Reilly and Ishii arrived at ringside to even the score and run off Taven.

Briscoe delivered a series of lariats to set Strong up for the Froggy Bow, and nailed him right in the chest to win the match and retain the title! O’Reilly and Ishii returned to the ring to congratulate him as the show came to a close.

What a great night of wrestling!

Ring of Honor TV live results: The road to Death Before Dishonor continues

With one week to go before next Friday’s Death Before Dishonor, the pieces will continue to be put into place on tonight’s Ring of Honor on HonorClub.

ROH Women’s World Champion Athena and ROH Women’s TV Champion Billie Starkz will be on hand to share some thoughts ahead of Athena’s title defense against Queen Aminata and Starkz’s defense against Red Velvet.

Both Aminata and Velvet will both be in action as Aminata faces Mackenzie Morgan while Velvet takes on Maya World.

In trios action, Dalton Castle & The Outrunners will face The Righteous & Lance Archer while former ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champions Cage of Agony (Brian Cage, Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona) will take on Austin Valtino, Cappuccino Jones & Harlon Hutchinson.

**********

With only two weeks until Death Before Dishonor (Friday, July 26th) Ring of Honor kicked things off with a recap of Dalton Castle Vs Roderick Strong on Collision last week. The winner faces Marc Briscoe at Death Before Dishonor. Strong won the match, and ROH World Champion Marc Briscoe cut a promo saying that he was looking forward to facing Strong.

The show proper actually began with a promo segment as well.

-ROH Women’s World Champion Athena and ROH Women’s TV Champion Billie Starkz joined the show. Athena suffered an injury several weeks back, but lately has been seen moving pretty well for someone who’s supposed to be walking with crutches. Starkz is set to face Red Velvet at Death Before Dishonor, and regardless of injury status, Athena is scheduled to face Queen Aminata.

Athena made excuses for being seen walking around without crutches last week, saying it was pure adrenaline. Starkz grabbed the mic and confirmed the injury, then called out Red Velvet saying she will outsmart her. Athena said that if she is forced to defend her title at Death Before Dishonor, she’ll do it and win.

Athena said that next week Lexy Nair will interview Queen Aminata for five minutes of “uninterrupted time.” Aminata and Velvet were on the night’s card, so it remained to be seen if this was the last we saw of the Minions.

Lance Archer & The Righteous (Vincent and Dutch)  defeated Dalton Castle & The Outrunners (Turbo Floyd and Truth Magnum)

Before the match, previously taped footage was shown of Castle being approached by the Ourunners. They treated him like a Superstar, fanboying over Castle. They offered to be Castle’s partners and flexed to show they had the goods. Castle was impressed and the team was formed. New boys, perhaps?

Archer and The Righteous have been running through the ROH Trios division as of late and there was never a more opposite and yet perfect set of opponents than Castle and The Outrunners. It was Spooky vs Goofy with the added excitement that  everyone was anxious to hit each other.

Castle and Vincent kicked things off while the Outrunners rallied the crowd to the cause. Vincent threw Castle out of the ring and he ran circles around it three or four times. Vincent tagged in the beefy Dutch and Floyd begged until Castle tagged him in. No wrestling had taken place thus far in the match.

When they got down to it though, Floyd and Dutch hossed it up with heavy strikes and a few big impact moves. Magnum jumped in to double team dutch which brought in Archer to clear the ring. Dutch continued to impress, moving like a man half his size and hitting with the strength of a man twice his size.

The match itself moved like molasses. Fortunately it featured some really great characters who know how to play to the audience, so the crowd was paying attention. Eventually, Castle and Vincent were in the ring as the legal combatants. Castle tried a Bangarang, but Archer interfered causing a sneak tag to Magnum. Archer quikcly hit a Blackout and got the pin to win the match for his team.

-Another vingette for the MxM Collection aired next. They represent the three “F’s:” Fashion, Fitness and Philanthropy. The rest of it was a lot of Blue Steele mugging for the camera.

Red Velvet defeated Maya World

Velvet was gearing up to face ROH Women’s TV Champion Billie Starkz at Death Before Dishonor and she was looking to make a statement in this match with World, who was a student of Athena. Coincidence?

World had a slight size advantage on Velvet, and was able to keep up with her on both offence and defence, but the real question was would Athena, Billie Starkz or another Minion interfere?

In the end, Aminata got the pin on World with reverse front DDT, capping off a solid outing, but was looking over her shoulder the whole time.

Katsuyori Shibata defeated Evil Uno

-Uno entered the ring in a Mick-Foley-esque shirt and tie combo and clearly had something on his mind. He grabbed a mic and cut a promo about how he’s been working hard for 20 years and has done it all. He said that the easiest way to be considered one of the greats is to battle the greats from around the world. He called out an open challenge and it was answered by former ROH Pure Champion, Shibata.

The impromptu match kicked off with a series of tieups and locks. Shibata used Uno’s tie against him, choking the masked man. Uno slid out of the ring to remove the tie and the two entered into a classic test of strength.

Uno threw Shibata into three sides of the barricades on the outside. Back in the ring, Shibata no-sold a series of big chops, at one point begging for more. Uno then as a no-sell of his own as a big boot from Shibata caught him right in the face.

Shibata caught Uno in a tight armbar in the centre of the ring and held him tight until the ref broke up the hold. Unfortunately, the hold injured Uno and the ref was forced to stop the match, awarding the win to Shibata.

Cage of Agony (Brian Cage, Bishop Kaun, Toa Liona) defeated Cappuchino Jones, Harlon Hutchinson & Austin Valtino.

Brian Cage on ROH was an excellent, excellent choice in this writer’s opinion. Cage is a fantastic worker, and getting to see him in this trios match was a treat. I was less familiar with his partners, but Liona has had some really great matches in ROH and Kaun is downright scary.

This was less of a match and more of an assault as Liona and Jones started things off. There were moments where there was genuine concern that Liona would eat the smaller man. Liona beat him from post to post, tagging in Kaun, presumably because he got bored.

Kaun then tagged in Cage who has his turn with Jones. He spent some time curling him like a barbell until Jones squirmed away and as he got a hot tag, the match devolved into Cage of Agony just beating up the other three men.

Eventually, Cage pinned one of them and the match was over.

Queen Aminata defeated McKenzie Morgan.

With the injury status of ROH Women’s World Champion Athena in doubt, Aminata was looking to put a metric ton of fear into Athena’s eyes before they clash at Death Before Dishonor. Morgan seemed like a pretty good opponent to give her a chance to do just that.

Aminata controlled things off the top, confidently strutting for the camera. Morgan was able to use her speed to keep up and managed to keep Aminata on her toes. Aminata delivered a massive boot in the corner that bent Morgan in half.

Aminata hit Morgan with an Air Raid Crash and got the pin. Afterwards she strut around the ring motioning to an imaginary belt around her waist.

Diamante defeated Leyla Hirsch in a Lights Out Match

The Main Event of the evening was a Lights Out match! What’s that, you ask? According to Wikipedia, “An Unsanctioned match is a match that has no rules and is not recognized as an official match. There is also a version called a Lights Out match where the lights in the arena are dimmed.” So, that’s what this contest between Diamante and Hirsch was, but the lights were not actually dimmed.

The ring was littered with chairs, kendo sticks, tables and other assorted weapons as Dimante in street gear went straight for Hirsch, tagging her with a garbage can. Hirsch fought back, jumping Diamante from the barricade. The brawl continued outside the ring, into the crowd, and back to the barricade where Diamante used a chair on Hirsch.

The ref made Diamante take Hirsch back into the ring to attempt a pin, but it was only a two count. Hirsch reversed an attack with a toilet plunger which she stuck on Diamante’s face. Hirsch took her turn with the chair, drop kicking two of them into Diamante’s face in the corner.

Hirsch grabbed a bag from under the ring that contained thousands of thumbtacks. She then succumbed to a drop toehold onto a chair, and Diamante narrowly missed suplexing her onto the tacks.

Hirsch drew Diamante to the outside with a kendo stick and laid her out on a nearby table. Hirsch climbed to the top rope and hit a moonsault on Diamante through the table!

Hirsch moved back into the ring to set up a fresh table. Diamante joined her along with a kendo stick. She choked Hirsch with the stick before setting her up on the top turnbuckle. The two battled until Hirsch pivoted over Diamante to attempt a suplex. Diamante stayed on the top rope and Hirsch climbed up as well and the two exchanged blows.

Diamante then delivered a massive Code Red to Hirsch, driving her through the able, and getting the pin!

Ring of Honor TV live results: Wheeler Yuta vs. Lee Moriarty

Ring of Honor returns to HonorClub tonight as the brand is building to this month’s Death Before Dishonor. Multiple ROH champions will be on tonight’s episode, possibly to build some title matches for the upcoming streaming special.

As it’s the 4th of July holiday in the U.S., The Infantry (Shawn Dean, Carlie Bravo & Trish Adora) will host tonight’s episode.

ROH Pure Champion Wheeler Yuta will wrestle his first match in the promotion since Final Battle 2023 as he faces Lee Moriarty in a Proving Ground match.

ROH Tag Team Champions The Undisputed Kingdom (Mike Bennett & Matt Taven) will also be in action as they take on Metalik & Komander in a Proving Ground match.

Additionally, ROH Women’s World Champion Athena and ROH Women’s TV Champion Billie Starkz will be heard from tonight.

Matches for tonight’s show were taped at the PPL Center in Allentown, PA on June 20. Spoilers from the taping are available here.

**********

With three big time Proving Ground Matches driving this week’s holiday ROH card, the show was packed from pillar to post! Kicking things off was The Infantry with a Fourth of July message for everyone! They declared themselves Official Hosts for the Independence Day edition of ROH TV!

Juice Robinson & The Gunn Club (Austin and Colton Gunn) defeated The Dark Order (Evil Uno, Alex Reynolds, John Silver)

This Trios Proving Ground match gave the Dark Order a chance to fight for a future shot at the ROH Trios Championships, currently held by Bullet Club Gold. All the Order had to do was last 10 minutes or pin one of their opponents.

Fun Fact: The Unified ROH/AEW Trios Titles are the only ones defended on both AEW and ROH shows, so the Champions must pull double duty.

Using a modified Freebird Rule, Robinson took the place of Jay White, who was “out with injury.” Uno kicked things off against Austin and the crowd was hot. Austin found himself isolated early, but Robinson and Colton broke things up, keeping the match on an even keel.

Robinson at one point climbed into the ring and pretended to be a dog and pee on Uno (no, really), causing an enraged Reynolds to chase him around the ring. That left Reynolds open to an attack by Colton though, to the frustration of Uno and Silver.

Time began getting short as Robinson and Reynolds both leapt for hot tags, pitting Uno against both Gunns. He hit relentless splashes into the corner(s), and when Robinson tried to help, all three Bullet Clubbers were set up for a big triple dropkick.

Eventually, the Gunns hit a 3:10 to Yuma on an unsuspecting Reynolds and managed to put an end to the Proving Ground match and get the win for their team.

-The Infantry joined us for a US History lesson, marking the signing of the Declaration of Independence. They then ran down the card, mentioning that they would like to punch the Kingdom in the face with some Iron Gauntlets that they had for… some reason. They promised to be back, and the show moved into a MEM (Minion Empowerment Meeting)!

-ROH Women’s Champion Athena, ROH Women’s TV Champion Billie Starkz, Lexy Nair and their Minion Security appeared back stage. Before anything could happen though, Red Velvet and Queen Aminata joined the party. Velvet said that she’s been awarded a shot at Starkz’ TV Title at Death Before Dishonor! To make matters worse for the Minions, Aminata will be challenging for the ROH Women’s World Title at the same show, no matter if Athena is cleared to wrestle or not! Athena stomped off to find Tony Khan and find out what is going on!

-The Infantry then came back, but this time under the backdrop of the US Capitol. They ran down some of the monuments and attractions in Washington, declaring it America’s HonorClub!

ROH Tag Team Champions Matt Taven and Mike Bennett defeated Metalik and Komander in a Proving Ground match

Taven and Bennett have been on top of the ROH tag division for quite some time now. Last week, they lamented the lack of competition and literally prayed to “booker-man” Tony Khan for someone to fight on their level. Khan’s response can seconds later in the form of Metalik and Komander. If they could pin or outlast the Champions to a 10-minute Draw, they would get a guaranteed title shot in the future.

Taven and Komander started things off and it was apparent that Taven was little confused by the luchadore style. He tried to utilize his height advantage though but the speed of Komander was hard to contain. A missed double team led to a hot tag to Metalik and he managed to put Taven down and take Bennett on one-on-one.

Metalik and Komander held control through the first half of the match, landing big splashes and dives through the ropes, keeping the champions on their heels, both in and out of the ring. A miscommunication though left Metalik on his own against a double team from The Kingdom at the halfway mark of the match.

Bennett picked up the urgency, looking to put away Metalik as fast as he could to avoid time running out. The luchadore wasn’t going down easily though, hitting a sunset bomb off the top rope. Komander followed it up with a spinning DDT on Taven.

As the time limit crept closer to expiration, Bennett and Taven resorted to a little bit of good ol’ fashioned heeling and hit a bit double team on Metalik after taking out Komander. This got them the pin and the win.

-Continuing their tour of American historical locations, The Infantry joined us from Mount Rushmore. They talked about the Presidents on the Mount and suggested that they add themselves to Rushmore, Twice. They reminded us all that Death Before Dishonor is on it’s way and signed off to go “watch some Will Smith movies.”

ROH Pure Champion Wheeler Yuta vs. Lee Moriarty went to a Time Limit Draw in a Proving Ground match

As with all Proving Ground matches, if the challenger (Moriarty) can pin or wrestle the Champion (Yuta) to a 10-minute draw, then Moriarty would get a shot at the ROH Pure Title at a later date.

Yuta, a member of the Blackpool Combat Club, matched up with Moriarty in size and speed really well. Unlike the previous two Proving Ground matches, a countdown clock was shown for this match which greatly added to the tension. Being able to see how little time was left really added an exciting aspect to the match.

At 7:43 Moriarty literally kicked Yuta out of mid-air, taking a bit of an upper hand in the match. Borrowing from his BCC teammate, Yuta tried a series of European uppercuts, but Moriarty was able to defend against them and lock in an arm-based submission move. Yuta reversed it though and the two took a breath.

Yuta, with about 5 minutes left managed to reverse a straightjacket hold, forcing Moriarty to use a rope break. As time ticked down, Yuta tossed Moriarty to the outside and dove through the ropes after him. Tossing him back in the ring, Yuta executed a series of suplexes on Moriarty.

With 90 seconds remaining, the match stayed pretty even. Yuta tried to pick up the pace, and caught Moriarty in an attempted pile driver. The two exchanged pinning attempts as the clock ticked down to less than a minute.

Fifteen Seconds were left as the two resorted to simple brawling, exchanging shots as time ran out relegating the match to a draw. However, Moriarty lasted the 10 minutes, so he gets a guaranteed shot at Yuta’s ROH Pure championship!

ROH Women’s Champion Athena ‘a little beat up,’ should be 100 percent soon

After an injury scare, ROH Women’s World Champion Athena should be back in action soon.

Athena appeared to get hurt while facing Viva Van in a match taped for ROH television on May 16. According to live reports, Athena looked to have hurt her lower leg. She couldn’t put weight on it and needed help leaving.

Tony Khan gave an update on Athena’s status during Sunday’s post-AEW Double or Nothing media scrum. He said Athena is a little beat up right now but is going to be 100 percent “very soon.”

“Athena might be the best wrestler in the world and is the Ring of Honor Women’s World Champion. And she is a little beat up herself right now,” Khan said. “But she is going to be 100 percent very soon as we are bringing ROH and AEW to Texas — her home state and actually Dallas, her home city.”

AEW and the city of Arlington, Texas are partnering together for a residency at Arlington’s Esports Arena this summer. From July 20 through August 27, AEW/ROH will hold six events at the venue. That includes ROH’s Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view and five episodes of AEW Collision.

Death Before Dishonor takes place on Friday, July 26.

Athena’s reign as ROH Women’s World Champion surpassed the 500-day mark last month. She’s been champion since December 2022.

AEW Battle of the Belts X live results: Hook vs. Shane Taylor

Two title matches and a title eliminator will make up tonight’s live AEW Battle of the Belts X following Collision from Highland Heights, Kentucky.

FTW Champion Hook will put his title on the line against Shane Taylor, extending a feud that started earlier this month in a traditional tag team match and then a trios match on Wednesday.

Hook has held the ceremonial title for 230 days with tonight being just the third defense of his second reign.

Ring of Honor Women’s Champion Athena will make her return to AEW TV for the first time since July 2023 as she defends against Red Velvet in their first-time ever meeting. A win will give her a 21st successful title defense while Velvet has never held an AEW or ROH title.

AEW International Champion Roderick Strong faces Rocky Romero in a title eliminator bout, meaning if Romero can win, he earns a future title shot.

**********

Battle of the Belts began the way Collision ended, with Bryan Danielson laid out on the ramp, courtesy of a Konosuke Takeshita brainbuster. Tony Schiavone & Matt Menard were on the call.

Hook & Katsuyori Shibata were backstage with Lexy Nair. Shibata offered his help through Google Translate, but Hook declined and said he would do it himself.

FTW Title Match – Hook defeated Shane Taylor to retain

A good David vs. Goliath match, with the crowd behind Hook the whole way.

Hook fired off with body shots, but couldn’t get Taylor up for a suplex to start off. Schiavone noted that since the match was for the FTW Title, FTW Rules were in place. Hook hit a running knee off the apron and pummeled Taylor with punches on the floor. Back in the ring, Taylor caught Hook with a jab and body punches. Taylor laid in chops to Hook while talking trash, but Hook came back with body shots.

Taylor shrugged off another suplex attempt and hammered Hook with a liver shot. Taylor talked more trash as he dumped Hook on the ropes with a gourdbuster. After a commercial break, Taylor landed a leg drop on the apron before throwing more punches in the corner. Hook egged on Taylor to bring more shots, which Taylor obliged.

Taylor threatened to send Hook back to his father in a bodybag, but Hook evaded a corner splash and fired up with strikes. Hook finally got Taylor up and over with a German suplex before following with an Exploder for a nearfall. Taylor caught Hook with a uranage before landing a big splash for a nearfall. Hook ducked a pair of shots before locking on Redrum. Taylor rammed Hook into the corner and dropped to his back, but Hook kept the hold on and got the win.

Rocky Romero was backstage with Lexy Nair. He didn’t know what was going on with the Best Friends but he couldn’t focus on that tonight. He was going to get one step closer to gold with a win over Roderick Strong tonight. Kyle O’Reilly came in and wished Romero luck tonight.

AEW International Title Eliminator Match – Roderick Strong (w/ The Kingdom & Wardlow) defeated Rocky Romero

Solid match, although it seemed like these two veterans were on different pages at certain times. The post-match is the important part, as Strong and the Kingdom turned on their former friend Kyle O’Reilly to set up that International Title feud down the line.

Strong worked a cravate to start, with Romero fighting out by going after the arm. Strong booted Romero and went to send him to the floor, but Romero held onto the ropes and baited Strong to the floor. Romero hit a kick off of the apron as we went to a commercial.

Romero fired up with strikes after the commercial break, hitting Strong with a rewind kick. Taven went to cut off Romero, leading to Romero hitting him and Strong with dives. Romero hit a running Sliced Bread for a nearfall. Strong took some strikes in the corner before firing out of the corner with chops and a Sick Kick for a nearfall. Strong set up for a gutbuster, but Romero reversed into a DDT before hitting a satellite DDT for a nearfall.

Strong set Romero on the top rope, but Romero caught Strong with a top rope Sliced Bread for a nearfall. Romero went to the top rope, but Strong drilled him with a jumping knee out of the air to score the win. After the match, Kyle O’Reilly congratulated Strong before helping Romero up to his feet. Wardlow drilled Romero with a lariat before the Kingdom laid the boots to him. O’Reilly pulled them away from Romero, only for Strong to drill O’Reilly with a knee. He shouted at O’Reilly that he made the wrong choice of not joining up with the Kingdom.

We got a recap of Yuka Sakazaki’s return to AEW last week and Serena Deeb’s interest in her post-match. Deeb was backstage with Lexy Nair, where she complimented Sakazaki and noted how she wanted to get in the ring with her. Deeb noted that she’s undefeated and steadily climbing the rankings since she came back from injury, and officially invited Sakazaki into Deeb’s Dojo.

ROH Women’s World Title Match – Athena (w/Billie Starkz) defeated Red Velvet to retain

This was a fine main event. Velvet continued to look good as an enhancement talent while Athena gets a spotlight win on TV. Aminata has gotten some spotlight on both Ring of Honor and AEW TV lately, plus she got screwed by Starkz for the TV Title at Supercard of Honor, so her stepping up to Athena makes sense for a logical next challenger.

Lexy Nair, who is associated with Athena on Ring of Honor TV, was the ring announcer for this match. Schiavone noted that this was under ROH rules, with the Code of Honor to start and a 20 count on the outside. Athena cartwheeled out of a headscissors, but Velvet booted her while she was celebrating.

Velvet hit a leg lariat as Tony Schiavone announced Roderick Strong vs. Kyle O’Reilly for the International Championship at Dynasty. Athena and Velvet fought on the apron, where Athena dumped Velvet onto the turnbuckle before dropping her on the apron as we went to a commercial.

After the commercial, Velvet hammered Athena with knees to the back before hitting a Destino for a nearfall. Athena dumped Velvet into the corner as it was announced that next week will be another three-hour block of AEW, as Rampage will follow Collision next Saturday. These guys are really making me earn my keep around here, I tell you what. Athena hit a pair of front slams, but Velvet caught her with a roll-up on the third for a nearfall.

Athena countered a wheelbarrow with a slam for a nearfall. Velvet cut off an ascending Athena with a head kick before bringing her down with a wheelbarrow suplex. Velvet hit a hurricane kick and a satellite DDT for a nearfall. Velvet went to the top rope, but Athena rolled to the floor. Velvet dived onto Athena, who caught her with one arm and slammed her with a Falcon Arrow. Velvet fired up but Athena booted her down.

Athena grabbed Velvet by the hair and sent her into the LED boards on the apron. Velvet caught Athena with a roll-up, but Athena kicked out and laid out Velvet with a forearm. Athena went to the top rope and hit the O-Face to score the win.

After the match, Athena and Starkz beat down Velvet and went to hit her with the belt, but Queen Aminata came to make the save. She headbutted Starkz and hit an Air Raid Crash on Athena to run them off.

Athena to defend ROH Women’s title at AEW Battle of the Belts X

Ring of Honor Women’s Champion Athena will look to extend her lengthy win streak and title defense streak on Saturday’s AEW Battle of the Belts X.

Athena will defend against Red Velvet who is still looking for her first AEW or ROH title. She is 5-1 in her brief ROH run and is coming off a March loss to Queen Aminata in the recent Women’s TV title tournament.

This will be their first ever time sharing the ring together.

Athena last defended her title at last Friday’s ROH Supercard of Honor against former AEW Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida. That was her 20th title defense dating back to December 2022. She has won her last 19 singles matches in both ROH.

This will be her first appearance on AEW TV since a July 2023 loss to Willow Nightingale in the Owen Hart Foundation women’s tournament. Her last AEW match came at last October’s WrestleDream pre-show in an eight-person tag team match.

Here’s the current card for the live 10 PM Eastern special that follows AEW Collision:

  • AEW International Champion Roderick Strong vs. Rocky Romero in a title eliminator match
  • FTW Champion Hook defends against Shane Taylor
  • ROH Women’s Champion Athena defends against Red Velvet

ROH Supercard of Honor live results: Eddie Kingston vs. Mark Briscoe

As part of a busy WrestleMania weekend in Philadelphia, Tony Khan’s Ring of Honor holds Supercard of Honor tonight from the Liacouras Center — home of AEW shows in the past.

ROH World Champion Eddie Kingston defends his title against Mark Briscoe in a first-time-ever match. The champion is looking for his 12th title defense while Briscoe is trying to win his first singles World title.

Currently on an extensive winning streak in the promotion, ROH Women’s World Champion Athena will defend against former multi-time AEW Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida.

The inaugural ROH Women’s TV Champion will be crowned as Queen Aminata faces Billie Starkz while men’s TV Champion Kyle Fletcher defends against Lee Johnson.

The Undisputed Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) will defend the ROH Tag Team titles against The Infantry (Shawn Dean & Carlie Bravo).

The show will also feature Dalton Castle vs. Johnny TV in a Fight Without Honor, a six-woman Stardom showcase bout, and more.

**********

It all comes down to tonight! Titles! Showcases! Boys! It’s all (mostly) happening on Supercard of Honor, Live. But first, we count things down with the Zero Hour Pre-show.

Zero Hour – The Premiere Athletes (Josh Woods, Tony Nese and Ari Daivari) Defeated Tony Deppen, Rhett Titus and Adam Priest.

A surprise addition to the Zero Hour card, this six-man was an excellent kickoff match. Each participant got a chance to shine, with Nese’s athleticism on display in this technical clinic. Lots of chain moves and fast paced exchanges. In the end though, a dominant Nese scored the pin for his team The Premier Athletes.

Zero Hour – Beast Mortos defeated Blake Christian

It was Heart vs a literal Beast-man and Mortos had not only the size advantage on Christian, but also strength and Cool mask advantages. What was surprising though was Mortos’ ability to keep up with Christian when he began some high-flying offense. Mortos responded with a series of powerslams, dazing Christian and allowing the bigger man to take control. Christian fought back though, and tried to pick up the pace, but Mortos was having none of it and ground him down to the mat. Christian hit a spear on Mortos on the ring apron (the hardest part of the ring) and threw him back into the ring. After a battle up the ramp and back, Mortos hit a pump handle piledriver and put Christian away for the win, in a hard-hitting affair.

-After the match Komander appeared at the top of the ramp to salute Mortos. It was unclear if this was a challenge, or a friendly wave.

Zero Hour – Cole Karter and Griff Garrison (with Maria) defeated Spanish Announce Project (Angélico and Serpentico)

Karter and Garrision were tricked into this match on ROH TV by Serpentico, who asked them to sign a paper without reading it. Maria wasn’t around to advise them, so they did and find themselves facing off on Zero Hour.

Maria had Serpentico’s stolen green mask with her as she escorted her boys to the ring. Serpentico wore his backup black mask to the ring, and the bout got underway as Garrision and Karter jumped the SAP as soon as they got to the ring. Angelico and Serpentico fought back quickly though and the match settled into a back and forth affair, both inside and outside the ring. Maria taunted Serpentico with his mask, and Angelico suffered what appeared to be a knee injury leaving Serpentico to get double teamed by Garrison and Karter.

The two isolated Serpentico and tore up his black mask, adding insult to, well, mask-tearing. Serpentico made a hot tag to the revitalized Angelico who cleared house in the ring. Maria tried to introduce a chair, but was stopped by the Ref who ejected her from ringside. Maria was not happy, but the threat of a DQ convinced her to leave, leaving Serpentico’s mask on the ramp for some reason. In the ring, Karter grabbed a handful of tights and pinned Serpentico, ripping off his mask. Maria came back and retrieved the green mask.

Zero Hour – Mariah May defeated Momo Kohgo

Another surprise addition to the Zero Hour show, these were two women were rekindling a feud started in Stardom. May spent the opening minutes mocking her opponent. That did not pay off as it lit a fire under Kohgo who showed up with some high-flying moves to get May off her feet. May fought back, utilizing her size to keep Kohgo on the mat.

Kohgo’s speed was the difference maker in this match though and May was often on her back before she even realized she was hit. Kohgo tried to out-strike May, but May’s strength was not to be trifled with. May delivered an insane suplex and a hard knee strike and was able to pin Kohgo, right in the middle of the ring.

-With the Zero Hour behind us, Supercard of Honor officially began and kicked off with the Television Title Match!  But before that, Nigel McGuinness made his ROH return to join the commentary team.

Kyle Fletcher defeated Lee Johnson to retain the ROH World Television Championship

Johnson has been on a hot streak in ROH, winning his last 8 matches in dominant fashion. Fletcher has been in AEW. I’m sure he did some great things there, but tonight was all about his ROH World Television Championship and the fact that he had never lost in ROH. One man was going home with the title, the other very disappointed.

Strictly speaking of ROH matches, Johnson had the edge here as Fletcher’s been spending most of his time with the Callis Family in AEW. That said, Fletcher wasn’t going to go out easily, and the two battled pretty evenly off the top.

Johnson’s hard chops echoed throughout Philly as he tried to out-power Fletcher. Fletcher battled back though, planting Johnson with a swinging side slam and few chops of his own. Determination flooded Fletcher’s face as he outpowered Johnson.

On the outside, Fletcher suplexed Johnson onto the barricade, leaving him writhing in the crowd. As he staggered to his feet, Fletcher met Johnson with a big senton over the barricade, driving Johnson into the concrete before dragging him back to the ring.

Johnson made the first mistake as Fletcher reversed an attack on the top rope into a devastating super falcon arrow. Fletcher went for his signature pile drive, but Johnson flipped it into a hurricanrana for a quick two count.

Fletcher then took it to Johnson, who kicked out of piledrivers, suplexes, big kicks and a massive powerbomb. Fletcher, growing frustrated, resorted to heavy kicks to the chest, trying to put Johnson down, but the challenger refused. Johnson reversed a piledriver attempt into a Big Shot Drop onto the ring apron (the hardest part of the ring). Both men lay dazed outside the ring.

This match was fantastic, with lots of near falls and both men making a great case as to why they deserve the title. In the end though, a twisting brainbuster from Fletcher ended Johnson’s win streak, and kept The Television Title around Fletcher’s waist.

Mei Seira, Mina Shirakawa, and Maika defeated Tam Nakano, Saya Kamitani, and AZM (Stardom Showcase)

A surprise addition to Supercard of Honor, this trios match showcased some of the best that the Japanese Stardom promotion has to offer. Stardom is a massive women’s wrestling organization and anyone who’s anyone has made a stop or two there in their careers.

Seira, Shirakawa and Maika all held Stardom Championships, and their opponents did not. The match kicked off with AZM and Seira. True to Stardom, they put on a fast-paced exchange of moves, ending in a double kip up. Nakano was tagged in, and isolated Seira for a triple team in the corner. Seira battled back for a hot tag to bring in the heavy-hitting Maika, who hit an impressive double suplex on Nakano and AZM.

AZM climbed to the top rope, but missed a dive onto Shirakawa. Maika and AZM were the legal competitors and managed to knock each other silly while their teams regrouped. Hot tags put Shirakawa and Kamitani in the ring together, and they bounced around the ring taking shots at each other until Shirakawa landed a big shin breaker.

Shirakawa locked a figure four onto Kamatani while the other four battled outside. AZM managed to break up the hold and double superkicks put Maika and Seira down. Nakano launched herself off the top rope and laid out all five of the wrestlers in the match. Things settled down a bit after that and the bushido fighting spirit was on full display as Shirakawa laid out Kamitani to get the win for her team.

This was a really impressive match, showcasing just how good Stardom matches can be. High flying, hard hitting and fast paced with great back and forth action. More Stardom in ROH, please!

-At the end of the match, Mariah May stomped down to the ring to try and intimidate her former Stardom compatriots…but then they all gave each other big hugs! The winning trio and May toasted each other with champagne in the ring.

The Undisputed Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) defeated The Infantry (Shawn Dean & Carlie Bravo) to retain the ROH Tag Team titles.

The Infantry took the Kingdom to a 10–minute draw in a Proving Ground match on the last episode of ROH TV to earn a shot at the ROH Tag Team Champions.

The Kingdom jumped the Infantry right off the bat, before the bell had even rung. They beat them from pillar to post to set the challengers on their heels to start the match. The bell rung, and the Kingdom was looking to make a statement with Taven manhandling Dean. Dean fought back though, trading dozens of hard chops with Bennett.

Shades of the Briscoes, Dean and Bravo took Bennett and Taven to the outside, brawling their way around and up onto the ramp. A big dive from Taven took out all four men, and Taven dropped Bravo hip-first onto the barricade, while Dean reversed a piledriver on the ramp from Bennett.

Bennett told Taven to “kill him”, and the two nailed a spiked piledriver on Bravo on the rampway. Back in the ring, the double team continued as Taven and Bennett absolutely clobbered him in the corner. The crowd was not amused, as they did not like the Champions, who they may not have recognized because the ROH Tag Titles have been rarely defended on ROH TV.

A hot tag brought in Dean, but Bravo disappeared and Dean had to take on Bennett and Taven by himself. Finally, Bravo returned and they double teamed Bennett after disposing of Taven on the outside. All four men got in the ring and some brawling ensued until they were all laid out in the ring. Bravo went for a cover on Taven, but Dean missed the block on Bennett who dove in to break up the pin.

Earlier in the match, Taven had set up a table next to the rampway. This came back to bite him as Bravo put him through it with a leap off the rampway. IN the ring, Dean hit a salute splash on Bennett for the 1-2-3-4-5… the ref didn’t see! The Ref also missed Wardlow sneaking into the ring to deliver a huge slam to Dean, knocking him out. Bennett crawled over him for the pin to retain the ROH Tag Titles for The Kingdom.

Billie Starkz defeated Queen Aminata to become the inaugural ROH Women’s World Television Champion

This was the culmination of a 16-woman tournament that saw Aminata and Starkz battle through the best ROH has to offer. The winner tonight would be crowned the inaugural ROH Women’s World Television Champion and both these women have earned the right to wear that title.

This match took place during Ramadan and Aminata, a devout muslim, had been fasting in accordance with the time of year. The commentary team wondered if this would be a factor in the match. It didn’t seem like it during the start of the match, where Aminata held her own against the spunky Stakz. The two women felt each other out in a slow start, but Aminata eventually landed a really crisp snap suplex. She followed that up with an absolutely deadly knee to Starkz’ face.

Aminata went the submission route, locking Starkz into a series of holds and locks, but Starkz was able to escape to the corner. Starkz tried to pick up some offense with whips and a big lariat, but Aminata wasn’t going down easy. She grabbed Starkz in a German suplex that left the younger competitor staring up at the lights.

Aminata began toying with Starkz, who did not take it well. Starkz hit a twisting ushigaroshi, seemingly damaging the neck of Aminata. Aminata wasn’t all out, as she hit a rolling dice counter to a facelock attempt by Starkz. Dueling chants erupted from the crowd as the two women staggered to their feet to exchange hard forearms.

Starks climbed to the top rope to try a swanton onto Amimata on the ring apron (the hardest part of the ring) but Aminata managed to dodge, and Starks did more damage to herself than anyone else. Aminata threw Starkz around outside until she was practically limp. Putting her back in the ring, Aminata climbed to the top rope and hit a swanton of her own, but Starkz kicked out at two.

Aminata seemingly had the match won, but Starkz, who looked dazed and out of it, managed to kick out time and time again. After multiple decimating strikes in the corner, Starkz could barely see straight. Starkz missed a second swanton when Aminata put up her knees to block. Starkz landed hard and refs and doctors dove into the ring.

Starkz wailed in pain in the ring and was attended to by doctors. Aminata and the crowd held their breath. The medical staff wrapped Starkz’ neck in a brace and she was able to stand. Everyone waited to hear if the match would continue, but as Starkz was about to be taken from the ring, Starkz slapped in a sleeper hold on Aminata! She was playing Possum!

Aminata Passed out, and Starks tore her not-needed brace off to celebrate as the inaugural ROH Women’s World Television Champion! Wow, what a psyche-out in a great, great match!

-Backstage, Lexi Nair had a chat with Top Flight. On Collision, Top Flight will face FTR in the AEW Tag Team Title Tournament. Top Flight said that they will overcome because that’s what they do. They will win the match, and head to Dynasty for the Finals.

-Next up, The ROH 6-Man Champtions the Bang Bang Gang arrived in the ring. Jay White grabbed a mic while the Gunns danced in support. White announced that they would be defending their titles RIGHT NOW!

The Bang Bang Gang (Jay White, Austin and Colton Gunn) defeated Monster Sauce (Alex Zayne and Lance Archer) and Minoru Suzuki to retain the ROH 6-Man Tag Titles

To say that the Bang Bang Gang were surprised to see Suzuki would be an understatement. This impromptu match immediately became more important with the addition of Suzuki.

The dream pair of Suzuki and White started things off and the crowd was hyped for this unannounced match. Suzuki called White a “young boy” and slapped on several really painful looking finger holds. He immediately put White in the sleeper, and the Gunns broke things up to save their friend. The Bang Bang Gang regrouped behind the announce table, seemingly very afraid of Suzuki.

Austin Gunn took the next shot at Suzuki who called him “Ass boy.” Hopefully a reference to Gunn’s father, Mr Ass Billy Gunn. Suzuki seemed unstoppable though, and folded Austin in half, leading him to tag in Colton. Archer jumped in though and the two exchanged holds.

Archer tagged in Zayne and he drove Colton into the corner. Austin tagged in and stomped a proverbial mudhole in Zayne. The Bang Bang Gang proceeded to lead the match both in terms of hitting devastating moves, as well as body glitter that was pretty much everywhere.

Zayne tagged in Archer, who ran through all three members of the Bang Bang Gang. Archer Choke-flipped (you read that right) Zayne onto Austin, but Austin recovered and bulldogged Archer to the mat. Hot tags brought in White and Suzuki much to the crowd’s delight.

Suzuki beat up White, then Austin, then Colton and stood tall in the ring as the crowd chanted his name. White thumbed Suzuki’s eye, but Suzuki countered into a sleeper. Zayne tagged himself in and leveled White with a lariat. White battled back though, and hit a bladerunner on Zayne to get the win and retain the ROH 6-man Titles.

This match was a great balance of veteran dominance by Suzuik and entertaining, innovative moves from the Bang Bang Gang. Super fun and fun to watch!

-White grabbed a mic and re-iterated that The Bang Bang Gang  were the best. Suddenly the Acclaimed  arrived and a massive brawl broke out. The Bang Bang Gang escaped leaving Billy and The Acclaimed in the ring.

Dalton Castle defeated Johnny TV (Fight Without Honor)

OK, follow me here: Dalton Castle and Johnny TV hate each other. Castle wants to smash TV’s face, and TV hates Castle’s face because it will “never be TV ready.” The two had a match that resulted in TV and his wife, Taya Valkyrie, gaining custody of Castle’s Boys. Sadly, TV and Valykrie then lost The Boys during a mountain outing where they were doing manly things (there was a bear involved). This enraged Castle, and now the two will meet in only the 15th ever Fight Without Honor match.

Castle entered with a new jumpsuit and a baker’s dozen of brand new Boys to try and soften the loss of his original Boys. The crowd was clearly behind Castle, chanting his name as the bell rang.

Castle seemed to have TV’s number, knocking him to the outside repeatedly. TV Taunted Castle and Castle chased him around the ring, until TV stomped on his hand on the rampway. With no countouts to worry about, the two battled on the outside until TV dragged Castle back into the ring. Castle bumped into Valkyrie, which caused TV to become enraged and hammer him with some hard strikes.

TV searched under the ring and pulled out a table. He and Valkyrie set it up while Castle writhed in the ring. Valkyrie handed TV a kendo stick and the couple wailed on Castle with them. The ring filled with debris, as TV hit Castle again and again with the Kendo stick. Castle finally caught some offense, hitting TV with a big Olympic-slam style suplex. Castle then considered the weapons he could use on TV, ultimately choosing the kendo stick. Before he could do much though, TV sprayed some powder in Castle’s eyes, and Valkyrie attacked him with a leaf blower. TV then powerbombed Castle through the table and tossed him back in the ring.

Setting up a chair, TV locked Castle’s shoulder and arm in the legs. He then spammed the chair shut, crushing Castle’s arm. TV placed two kendo sticks and three chairs on Castle’s body and went for a Starship Pain. Castle came to life though and nailed TV with the kendo stick.

In the ring, Castle screamed “Bring me a boy!” and one of his boys ran out to the ring. Castle threw the Boy onto TV, and a second boy came out! Castle threw that boy onto TV too, and then it was just a stream of Boys running out and being tossed onto TV on the outside.

Suddenly, a very familiar looking Boy CARTWHEELED his way to the ring and right into TV. Another boy walked to the ring in street clothes and an ROH t-shirt. This new Boy laid out on the ropes and watched. The Mystery Boy then hit a Sky High and we realized it was Paul Walter Hauser!

The Boys on the outside then kidnapped Valkyrie and dragged her to the back! TV was left alone with Castle and Hauser as they spread thumbtacks all over the ring. Castle hit a Bangarang on TV, driving him face first into the tacks and getting the pin to win the match.

Athena (c) defeated Hikaru Shida to retain the ROH Women’s World Championship

This match came to be because Athena, riding a 49-match win streak and 400+ days as chamption, felt like the ROH Women’s Division was lacking in real competition. She ran through them all, and was bored, darn it! That request caught the attention of former AEW Women’s Champion, Shida. She arrived with determination and violence and this match promised a hearty helping of both.

Athena (decked out in red, not a red outfit mind you, just painted red for some reason) started the match by ducking out of the ring. After pumping herself up a bit she jumped in and the match actually began.

The pace began to pick up with neither woman really gaining an advantage, but the wheels were definitely in motion in both of their minds. Athena went the mind games route, trying to lure Shida in for a Code of Honor handshake. Shida saw through the ruse though and hit Athena with a series of lariats into a backbreaker.

After a few twists and turns, Athena began working Shida’s knee, wrapping it in the rope and stomping it, trying to tear ligaments. After an Alabama slam, Athena put Shida in an ankle lock, wrenching Shida’s knee even more. Shida fought back though, catching Athena in a big backbreaker.

The pace of the match slowed significantly, with both women taking turns hitting kicks and corner slams, trying to gain the advantage. Athena managed get Shida in another ankle lock, twisting her damaged knee. Shida crawled to the ropes, but the Champion took her time in breaking the hold.

Shida got Athena up and piledrove her into the rampway outside the ring. Shida threw her into the ring and landed a meteora from the top rope. “This is awesome” chants were aplenty.

Athena began spamming powerbombs, trying to throw Shida over the top rope. Shida managed to reverse into a hurricanrana to the outside, but almost simultaneously, Athena reversed and powerbombed her onto the concrete. Athena put Shida back in the ring and bullseye Shida with a top rope neckbreaker, but Shida kicked out.

Shida tried a flurry of moves ending in a Katana, but Athena kicked out. Shida tried another Katana, but Athena caught her knee. The two pounded on one another until Athena was able to get to the top rope and hit an O Face to put Shida down and get her 50th win, continuing her reign as ROH Women’s Champion.

This match was really fun, but suffered by being near the end of the show. Supercard entered it’s 4th hour (including Zero Hour) during this match and the crowd was beginning to show some fatigue.

Mark Briscoe defeated Eddie Kingston to become the ROH World Champion

The only word to describe this matchup was “emotional.” Kingston, fresh off of losing his Continental Title, was near the end of his rope and questioned whether he could hold onto his sanity and even sobriety should he lose. Briscoe had just as much on the line, looking to honor his late brother Jay 11 years to the day that Jay won the ROH World Championship. Both men promised each other they’d be bringing their best and the stakes were high.

As was expected, this was a hard-hitting match. The arena seemed to shake with every slam and strike. Kingston had control in the beginning, but Briscoe used some of his redneck kung fu to keep himself in the running.

One the outside, Briscoe hit a cannonball to plant Kingston against the barricade. Briscoe introduced a chair to the ring, making it legal for Kingston to chokeslam Briscoe right through it. Kingston pounded Briscoe’s head against the announce table, busting him open. Blood poured from Briscoe’s face as Kingston waited for him in the ring. Briscoe jumped right back in and the two exchanged punches and chops.

The ref checked on Briscoe, making sure he could continue while bleeding. Kingston took advantage and raked the open wound on Briscoe’s head. A series of strikes from Kingston left him covered in Briscoe’s blood. On the outside, Briscoe took a big bite of Kingston’s head and set him up in a chair to drive him into the corner barricade. Briscoe then dropped a Cactus Jack elbow on the champion from the ring apron.

Blood absolutely poured from Briscoe’s head as the ref checked on him for the fourth time. He checked again after Kingston nailed Briscoe in the face with a baseball slide.

Briscoe began to fight back, taking Kingston’s chops and laying out a few of his own. Briscoe’s face looked like hamburger meat but he refused to go down. Some more Redneck Kung Fu gave Briscoe an opening and he began to take it to Kingston. These two were in a war, not a wrestling match.

Briscoe hit a Froggy-bow from the top rope, but Kingston kicked out at two. The men began trading suplexes and powerbombs trying to find an opening to come out on top. Eventually though, both men were down, in pools of Briscoe’s blood.

Kingston hit a t-bone suplex from the ring apron (the hardest part of the ring) onto the concrete below leaving Briscoe dazed as the crowd chanted “man up” at the competitors. Both men escaped the 20-count by sliding back into the ring, Briscoe managing to do it at 19 and a half.

Bloodied and beaten, both men swung at each other from their knees. Rising to their feet Briscoe got a big clothesline and began to gain momentum over the sluggish Kingston. Kingston fired back though, and tried a pin which Briscoe kicked out of at 2.

Briscoe reached deep into his bag of tricks, pulling out a cutthroat driver. Signaling to the his brother in the sky, Briscoe droppe Kingston on his head with a massive driver and pinned him for the 1-2-3! Mark Briscoe is your new ROH World Champion, 11 years to the day his brother won the same title!

The ring filled up with Briscoe’s family and ROH wrestlers hugging and congratulating Briscoe on his well deserved victory, and Kingston on his hard fought loss. The two men embraced into the ring as the confetti and streamers rained down. What an incredibly emotional and hard-hitting match. A perfect way to end Supercard of Honor 2024.

Taya Valkyrie defeated Sussy Love in a ROH Women’s TV Title tournament first round match

Valkyrie had the definite size and power advantage and her personality shone strong as she tossed Love around ring. This match was a departure from the previous TV Title tournament matches in that it had much more of a feeling of urgency to it. In spite of that though, this was all Valkyrie, who at one point laughed out loud at Love’s offense. Love did show some heart though, kicking out of a few nearfalls. However, this match was Valkyrie’s to lose, and she got the pin to advance in the tournament against Queen Aminata.

Valkyrie cut a promo later in the show with Johnny TV at her side, asking for some real competition as the two TV ready stars headed off.

Lee Johnson defeated Sonico

Johnson got a spotlight match here against the debuting luchador, Sonico. Sonico heeled it up big time, refusing a Code of Honor handshake and kicking away Johnson’s hand. Johnson was the more athletic of the two, and his speed was hard for Sonico to match. The two traded strikes and near falls with Sonico coming out on top. Johnson won the crowd over a bit and they began clapping and chanting for him to break a hold from Sonico. A neckbreaker and HBK-style kip-up give Johnson some momentum and he caught Sonico off the ropes with a really hard elbow to grab the win.

Red Velvet defeated Sandra Moone in a ROH Women’s TV Title tournament first round match

The 3-0 Velvet got a nice ovation on her way to the ring. Velvet’s quickness was countered by Moone’s strength, but Velvet stayed in control as the women exchanged a few holds. Velvet lined up Moone in the corner and peppered her with strikes.

Velvet flew too close to the moon (heh) however, and Moone was able to counter with a high kick to the face. Moone followed that up with a big dropkick off the top rope, but only got a 2-count. Velvet dropped into what could only be described as a very aggressive armbar and held it on Moone for a very, very long time.

Moone made a good case for herself with a massive lariat and a reverse mule kick. Velvet powered up off those and managed to land a cazadora to slow down the bigger Moone. Moone broke free and attempted to go to the top rope, but Velvet got a big kick in to grab the three.

In the next round, she takes on Leyla Hirsch.

Danhausen defeated Brandon Cutler

Danhausen made his return to ROH and was met with a strong ovation from the crowd. Danhausen and Cutler were both well dressed, making the match look something like a clash between Dracula and Tiger King.

Cutler started off with some dab-style elbows, but Danhausen was unfazed and Cutler attempted to spray paint his face. The paint wouldn’t work on Danhausen though for curse-related reasons and Cutler ended up spraying himself.

After regrouping, Cutler got Danhausen up in an airplane spin, resulting in both men staggering around, dizzy. Danhausen recovered first and the two began exchanging stiff punches. The crowd was really into the match and clearly behind Danhausen who hit a Northern Lights suplex on Cutler.

A distraction on the outside involving a jar of teeth almost let Cutler schoolboy Danhausen into a pin, but he was able to reverse and get the win in his ROH return.

Abadon defeated Viva Van in a ROH Women’s TV Title tournament first round match

The “Living Dead Girl” entered to a good response from the crowd. The two squared up pretty evenly, but Abadon took control with a headbutt. Abandon’s deliberate and strange movements had Van back on her heels and she rolled out of the ring to collect herself.

Van re-entered the match with a spinning heel kick and almost got a pin, but Abadon was easily able to reverse into a suplex. Van attempted to match the aggression of Abadon but wasn’t quite able to overcome her green-haired opponent. A tarantula on the ropes dazed Abadon and Van locked in a surfboard submission hold. Abandon broke free, but Van remained aggressive as they traded punches.

Abandon tapped into whatever dark forces drive her and screamed at Van, who whipped her into the ropes and attempted an electric chair. Abandon reversed it and delivered a big running knee and a Black Dahlia to get the win and advance in the tournament.

Mercedes Martinez is waiting for her in the next round.

Ethan Page defeated Anthony Henry

Henry had a huge opportunity here to advance his status in ROH by defeating Page. The crowd thought otherwise, giving Page a very warm reception.

Henry showboated a bit, flexing before an unimpressed Page who countered with a few poses of his own. Henry’s speed landed a spinning heel kick on Page and the flexing resumed. Page fought out of the corner, but Henry still had his number, working Page’s elbow, presumably making it harder for him to utilize the Ego’s Edge.

Page got fired up and turned the tables on Henry with a big slam. The strain on Page’s arm was apparent and Page went for the Ego’s Edge, but Henry was able to wiggle out of it for a tornado DDT. A “rip it back” hammerlock was applied to Page, weakening his arm even more. After fighting back, Page was able to get Henry with a cutter from his good arm and extend his win streak to six.

Later, Page was interviewed by Lexi Nair. He called out ROH TV Champion Kyle Fletcher again and talked about how there is something in the air. He begged Fletcher to stay away because when he gets back to ROH, Page’s momentum will be massive.

 – Queen Aminata cut a promo backstage about how she used to really look up to Taya Valkyrie. Now though, Valkyrie is just sleaze and riding her husband’s coattails. Next week when they face off, Aminata wants the “real” Valkyrie so she can beat her and become the first ROH Women’s TV Champion.

Billie Starkz defeated Robyn Renegade in a ROH Women’s TV Title tournament first round match

The final match in the first round of the tournament kicked off with a very mocking Code of Honor handshake from Renegade. The two locked up and traded wristlocks before settling into the corner where Starkz was on her heels. Renegade showed a lot of confidence against the young Starkz who got the first near fall off of a big kick to Renegade’s head.

In full control, Renegade talked a ton of smack as she chopped Starkz in the corner. Starkz, a favorite in the tournament, reversed and threw some chops of her own. The intensity of the match ratcheted up as Renegade dropped Starkz with a bridge suplex into a two count.

Renegade hit Starkz with a brutal codebreaker. A chin lock followed, but Starkz was able to fight her way out and deliver some high kicks. Favoring her back, Starkz began to pick up momentum, laying in some hard strikes. Renegade invited more and Starkz obliged.

Starkz went for a dive between the ropes onto Renegade on the outside, but caught her foot on the rope. Renegade caught her and drove her back into the ring apron. Renegade eventually caught Starkz up on her shoulders and delivered a devastating power bomb on the outside. Starkz beat the count and made it back into the ring, reversing a pump handle slam into a hammerlock neck vise. Renegade held on for a few seconds, but tapped, ending the match.

Starkz now moves on to face Diamante in the quarterfinal round.

Later, she cut a promo, claiming she was the “youngest and the dumbest” in the tournament, but regardless she’s going to win it all and become the Women’s TV Champion.

Komander defeated Exodus Prime, AR Fox and Matt Sydal in a four-way

This week’s four corner survival match started off with the ROH debut of Exodus Prime, who took a hard shot at Fox off the top. Fox rolled out of the ring and Sydal and Komander chased Prime out as well. Sydal and Komander traded fast moves and lock ups, bringing some energy to the match. Fox and Prime waited on the outside.

Fox snuck back in and delivered a couple of cutters before Prime was able to take him down with some hard strikes. Sydal hit a DDT and big punch on Fox and Komander simultaneously, and Prime jumped him as the other two recovered. A big elbow off the top rope from Prime got a two count on Sydal. Sydal paid him back with a jawbreaker and Fox jumped in to try and pin the dazed Prime.

Komander and Sydal ate big boots from Fox as he locked in a crab submission on Prime. Komander locked in an armbar and Sydal got a headlock on Prime as the three men tried to make Prime submit. It was broken up and Komander dragged Sydal to the ring apron where he locked in a surfboard. Fox broke it up with a dive through the ropes, and Sydal hit Komander with a meteora.

Sydal and Fox took turns laying shots into Prime in the corner, but their truce was broken up by Komander. Komander dragged Sydal to the corner and climbed to the top rope. Prime had other plans and knocked Komander off the rope. Meanwhile, Sydal got Fox in a side slam for a two count. Fox got a superplex and 450 splash on Prime, but Sydal broke up the pinning attempt.

The crowd rose to their feet and Komander planted Prime with a swinging DDT. Komander hit a running shooting star press from the top rope and got the win, pinning Prime.

ROH Women’s Champion Athena defeated Nyla Rose in a two-of-three falls tables match to retain

The main event of the night was rife with emotion as the competitors made their way to the ring. Athena and Rose both got big cheers from the crowd, who were still pretty pumped from that four-way match.

Rose started off with some big strikes and a samoan drop. Rose was not wasting any time and a table was brought out and set up at ringside. Athena laid in a dropkick, but Rose picked her up and power bombed her through it for the first fall.

Athena recovered in the ring and Rose began searching for another table to put a quick end to the match. Rose brought it into the ring, but Athena used it to drive Rose into the barricade outside. Athena wasted no time in putting a table into the ring and setting it up in the corner while Rose writhed on the outside. Inexplicably, Athena felt that this was a good time for a suicide dive through the ropes. Rose caught her and drove her into the ring apron.

Rose tossed Athena back into the ring and began stomping her. Athena fought back as best she could, but Rose slammed her and threw her into the corner for a running splash. Rose set up the table Athena had brought into the ring in the opposite corner. Rose tried to throw Athena through it, but she was able to reverse and slide out of the ring to recover.

Rose followed and Athena dropkicked her into the barricade. Athena pulled another table from under the ring and set it up before delivering another dropkick and some wild swings to Rose. Athena pulled Rose up on the ring apron and the two traded shots. It looked like Rose might get away with two straight falls, but Athena reversed it and hit a cutter on the ropes, causing Rose to fall backwards and through the table, giving each woman a fall.

The match moved into sudden death as the next fall would win. Athena set up a table in the ring and dragged Rose back in. Athena tried to pick up Rose to put her through the table, but collapsed as her knee buckled. A confident Rose put Athena on the table and climbed the ropes. Athena rolled off the table though and climbed up the ropes as well. The two grappled on the ropes, until Rose created some separation. Athena kept punching up, hoping Rose would fall onto the table in the ring. There was another table outside and both women were in danger.

Athena got underneath Rose and pulled her off the top rope, driving her through the table on the outside to get the second fall and retain her ROH Women’s Title once again.

ZERO HOUR

We got a video package hyping up the Women’s Title match main event between Athena & Billie Starkz. Athena said in this video that if she lost tonight, she would leave Ring of Honor forever.

Taya Valkyrie (w/ Johnny TV) defeated Jazmin Allure

Valkyrie booted Allure in the face after the Code of Honor. Allure fought out of an Irish Whip and threw strikes, but Valkyrie caught Allure in the ropes and hit a sliding German suplex. Valkyrie hit double knees in the corner for a nearfall. Allure fired up with strikes, but Valkyrie cut her off on the top rope and hit a superplex. Valkyrie hit a Butterfly Drop before hitting a Curb Stomp for the win.

Marshall & Ross Von Erich defeated The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd)

The Von Erichs came out to Stranglehold by Ted Nugent, the song their father Kevin came out to during his career. Ross started with Magnum, keeping him off of his feet with dropkicks and a headscissors. Marshall tagged in and got a dropkick on Magnum that forced him to the floor. Floyd tagged in but ended up getting sent to the floor in the same way, forcing the Outrunners to regroup on the outside.

Floyd baited Ross to a chase on the floor, leading to Ross getting sent into the apron. Ross evaded multiple attacks from the Outrunners, getting the tag to Marshall. Marshall ran wild, landing a cannonball on Floyd. The Von Erichs ran wild on both Outrunners before locking on dual Von Erich claws to score the win. Kevin Von Erich made his way to the ring to celebrate with his sons.

Survival of the Fittest Qualifying Match – Bryan Keith defeated Jack Cartwheel

This is the kind of match I want to see more in Ring of Honor, with top-of-the-line freelancers and independent stars having showcase matches. This had a ton of energy and got the crowd fired up for the show.

Keith came out to Still Tippin’ by Mike Jones, his walkout music on the independent scene. Cartwheel cartwheeled out of a few holds from Keith to start, then cartwheeled out of the way of Keith to land a pair of kicks and a standing moonsault for a nearfall. Cartwheel evaded Keith, but Keith stuffed a headscissors and landed a dropkick to the stomach to cut him off.

Cartwheel landed an enzuigiri, but Keith dropped him with a boot. Cartwheel cut off Keith with a cartwheeling Dragon Screw. Cartwheel hit a backflipping neckbreaker. Cartwheel got sent to the apron, but flagpoled on the apron to sweep Keith’s feet out from under him. Cartwheel hit a twisting elbow drop for a nearfall, then hit a cartwheeling powerslam for another nearfall.

Cartwheel went to the top rope, cartwheeling out of the way when Keith went to cut him off. Cartwheel hit a Death Valley Driver, then followed Keith to the floor with a Sasuke Special. Keith moved out of the way of a Shooting Star Press, with the men trading enzuigiris. Keith landed a knee strike on a single-leg attempt, then hit the Tiger Driver for the win and the final spot in Survival of the Fittest.

Tony Khan came to the stage. He talked about how last year’s Final Battle marked Jay Briscoe’s last match in ROH, as well as how he and Bryan Danielson had their only singles match against each other on Final Battle in 2003. He hyped up the show before announcing another match for the Zero Hour.

Daniel Garcia defeated Blake Christian

This match was odd, as it looked like they were a half-step off from each other at points. Garcia scoring a win here was nice.

Garcia won the early exchange, hitting a double underhook suplex for a nearfall. Garcia laid in stomps to Christian, but Christian caught the boot and swung Garcia down. Christian picked up the pace, misdirecting Garcia before landing a double stomp to the back of the head for a nearfall.

Christian clubbered on Garcia in the corner, landing a knee to the face. Garcia was on spaghetti legs as Christian pelted him with running forearms. Garcia fired up with punches and stomps in the corner. Garcia hit a butterfly suplex into the corner for a nearfall. Garcia tied Christian up in the Tree of Woe before hitting a hesitation dropkick for a nearfall.

Christian caught Garcia with an enzuigiri and a uranage before hitting an inverted senton. Christian hit a bottom rope 619 before landing a springboard forearm for a nearfall. They traded strikes, ending with Christian hitting a Spanish Fly for a nearfall. Christian landed on Garcia on a springboard dive, but Garcia locked on an ankle lock. Christian sent Garcia to the floor before landing a Fosbury Flop into a reverse DDT.

Christian hit a springboard 450 for a nearfall. Christian mocked Garcia’s dance, but Garcia reversed Christian’s curb stomp into the Dragon Tamer submission for the win.

Tony Khan was backstage, quickly being interrupted by ROH World Champion Eddie Kingston. He wanted a match tonight, even with being in a Continental Classic match tomorrow night. Anthony Henry of the Workhorsemen entered the frame, saying that he wanted to capitalize on the Workhorsemen’s recent momentum. Khan made a Proving Ground match official for the PPV.

ROH World Six Man Tag Team Title Match – Mogul Embassy (Brian Cage, Kaun, Toa Liona) (w/ Prince Nana) (c) defeated TMDK (Bad Dude Tito, Kosei Fujita, Shane Haste) to retain

This was fun stuff here. Bad Dude Tito shined in particular.

We got video of how TMDK earned this title shot, with the TMDK team Haste and Mikey Nicholls beating Kaun and Liona in New Japan’s World Tag League tournament. Kaun started with Fujita, dropping him with a back elbow as Fujita charged in off the ropes. The Embassy clubbered on Fujita until Tito got a tag in. The Embassy hit the Pendulum Powerbomb on Fujita for the win.

I Quit Match – Ethan Page defeated Tony Nese (w/Smart Mark Sterling)

This was a great end to what’s been a solid midcard feud over the past few months on ROH. The crowd was on the ride with these guys, peaking at the finish with Page finally getting the win over Nese. Page is made to the ROH crowd, and a tag team run with Scorpio Sky can be good for both men.

Sterling was reluctant to get handcuffed to the post per the stipulations for the match, so Texas’ own Mark Henry made his way to the ring to persuade Sterling. Sterling agreed, but it allowed Nese to jump Page from behind. Page got in control quickly and went outside to menace Sterling, but Nese caught Page with a plancha.

They fought on the floor before Nese got control in the ring by ringing up Page on the top rope. Sterling and Nese went to powder Page’s nose with the protein powder, but Page ducked. Nese rolled to the outside with powder in his eyes. Page went after Sterling again, but Nese caught him again and sent him into Sterling’s handcuff chain.

Nese grabbed the mic and told a now-bloody Page to quit. Page refused, so Nese kneed him into the stairs. Page once again refused to quit. Nese went for the key to Sterling’s handcuffs, allowing Page to catch up to him with punches. They brawled around ringside before Page sent Nese over the barricade with an Irish Whip. Nese rang up Page on the barricade before hitting a flying chop off of the barricade.

Nese pulled out a weight plate from under the ring, which the commentary justified by saying it was used to keep the ring from shifting around. Page avoided a shot with the weight, but Nese kept control by whipping him with a jump rope. Page fired up and hit Nese with the rope repeatedly, forcing Nese to grab the mic. He feigned quitting before hitting Page in the neck with the mic.

Nese hit a Fosbury Flop before skipping rope on the floor. Sterling got a shot in while Page was close enough to him. Nese set up two tables on the floor before Page recovered and laid Nese onto the tables. Page went to the top rope, but Nese met him up top. Page dropped Nese down and hit the Headshot over the ropes. Page then hit the Headshot through the tables on the floor.

Nese refused to quit, so Page pulled out a pair of chairs. Page set Nese on the top rope and set the chairs up under him. Page then pulled Nese up for a powerslam, but Nese hit a hurricanrana that sent Page just over the chairs. Nese threatened the ring announcer for the keys, then shoved the referee down to unlock Sterling from the handcuffs. They laid the boots to Page before threatening to handcuff Page and hit him with the plate.

Scorpio Sky made his way to the ring to make the save for his old tag team partner Page, taking out Sterling on the floor. Page fired up, hitting Nese and Sterling with the weight before hitting Sterling with the Ego’s Edge. Sky dragged Sterling away, but Nese fought out of the Ego’s Edge and dropped Page.

Nese handcuffed Page and threatened to hit him over the head, but Page cursed at Nese. Page avoided the chairshot and made a comeback with no hands, hitting boots and shoulder blocks. The referee unlocked the cuffs, allowing Page to drill Nese with a chair. Page choked out Nese with the handcuffs, forcing Nese to quit. Scorpio Sky came back out to celebrate with Page.

Survival Of The Fittest 2023 Finals for the ROH World Television Title – Kyle Fletcher defeated Dalton Castle (w/ The Boys), Lee Moriarty, Komander, Lee Johnson, Bryan Keith

What an awesome match this was. Never a dull moment, these guys structured this match very well. The final stretch with Komander and Fletcher was a phenomenal breakout moment for both guys and Fletcher scoring the win will give him a great spotlight as a singles wrestler while his partner recovers from injury.

This is an elimination match.

Fletcher stole a tag from Castle and forced him out of the ring to wrestle Moriarty. Johnson snuck a tag in on Fletcher after Castle got sent to the floor again. Johnson sent Moriarty to the floor with a dropkick, then flung Castle to the floor again. Komander tagged in, with the announcers noting that it is his birthday today. Moriarty locked Johnson in the Border City Stretch, scoring the submission and the first elimination.

Castle and Moriarty went after it, with Castle sending Moriarty and everyone else flying with suplexes. Castle caught Moriarty with another suplex before Johnny TV attacked the Boys on the floor. Johnny sent a Boy rolling in the ring, distracting Castle and allowing Moriarty to pin him with the pop-up flatliner.

The final two were Kyle Fletcher and Komander. Fletcher shrugged off Komander’s strikes until he landed a superkick. They traded running forearms until Fletcher went for the Hammerlock Tombstone again. Komander fought out and hit a springboard poisonrana to send Fletcher to the floor. Komander went for a hurricanrana on the floor, but Fletcher caught him. Komander fought out, but Fletcher caught him with an enzuigiri. A countout began, as Fletcher got to the ring. Komander fought up, making his way back into the ring at the 18-count. Fletcher hit the Yakuza Kick and the brainbuster for a nearfall, as somewhere El Generico gets a smile on his face. Fletcher set up Komander on the top rope, but Komander fought out and hit a springboard Destroyer for a nearfall.

The crowd chanted This Is Awesome as Komander hit a slingshot into the bottom rope, then hit a double stomp to Fletcher’s chest. Komander hit an unbelievable ropewalk 450 splash to Fletcher on the apron, then hit a 450 splash in the ring, but only got a nearfall. Komander went to the top rope again, but Fletcher kicked Komander’s legs out from under him. Fletcher hit a Brainbuster on the top rope, but Komander kicked out. Fletcher hit a running kick before landing the Hammerlock Tombstone for the win and the title.

ROH Pure Title Match – Wheeler Yuta (c) defeated “Filthy” Tom Lawlor

Another solid match. The crowd was into Lawlor toward the end, and Yuta slipping away with the belt works for him and his sneering coward character.

The judges for this match are Christopher Daniels, Jimmy Jacobs, and Jerry Lynn.

After early grappling, Lawlor caught Yuta with a cross-arm breaker that forced Yuta to use his first rope break. Yuta caught Lawlor on a corner charge with a knee to the waist, then hit a senton for a nearfall. Yuta tossed his elbow pad to distract the referee, then punched Lawlor in the face. Lawlor punched Yuta back, but that forced an official warning from the referee.

Yuta caught Lawlor with a chop block, then put Lawlor in a deathlock. Yuta moved towards the ropes and transitioned to a single-leg crab, forcing Lawlor to use his first rope break. The two men traded strikes in the ring before Lawlor cut Yuta down with a spear. Lawlor caught Yuta with a knee before spearing him in the corner. Lawlor hit a Northern Lights Suplex for a nearfall.

Lawlor went for a Kamigoye, but Yuta caught Lawlor with a Dragon Screw. Yuta locked on an Octopus Stretch before dropping down for a pin for a nearfall. Yuta went for the Right Angle Slam, but Lawlor caught Yuta with a waistlock slam for a nearfall. Yuta caught Lawlor in another single leg crab, but Lawlor monkey flipped out of it.

Lawlor went after Yuta’s arm, hitting a hammerlock Tombstone of his own before locking on an Anaconda Vice. Yuta had to use his second rope break to escape, then punched Lawlor in the face to get his warning. The two men jockeyed for position on the top rope, where Lawlor hit a hammerlock superplex before locking on a double wristlock on the mat. Yuta slid to the ropes, burning his final rope break.

Lawlor wrenched back on the arm, but Yuta transitioned into an Ankle Lock. Yuta hit a German suplex, but Lawlor caught the arm again. Yuta fought his way out and got the Seatbelt pin to win the match and retain the title.
