Alexa Bliss details pitching tag team with Charlotte Flair to WWE creative

Alexa Bliss discussed what led to the forming of her tag team with Charlotte Flair during a recent interview.

Bliss appeared on the In The Kliq podcast to promote Friday’s edition of WWE SmackDown, which will take place at the SAP Center in San Jose. She was asked about how her team with Flair began and responded that she pitched the idea to WWE creative.

Bliss said:

“t’s been so fun working with Charlotte. This was something that came about very, kind of randomly. We were talking to creative, and I threw it out there.”

“They gave me a list of names of people who were kind of in this little bubble of needing storylines and I was like, ‘Well, what about Charlotte? We have this long past.’”

“We’ve been having fun with it. You know, our entrances, our little pushing, pulling, all this stuff, that’s just us improv’ing and just having fun with it. It’s been a lot of fun. I was right we would be successful because now we’re tag team champions.”

“We get to see a different side of me, a different side of Charlotte, which I think is so fun. To see her open up and have fun as a character, because we saw before just a character that was mainly going for a singles title, and then my character, after joining Bray, was never really focused on any titles. So it’s fun to see the mesh of the two come together as this kind of odd couple and allies of convenience. It’s been a lot of fun, and I think that’s what resonates with the audience is that we’re naturally having fun and I think it allows the audience to have fun with us.”

Bliss and Flair won the tag titles at SummerSlam this year, defeating the then-champions Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez of Judgment Day. They’ve since successfully defended the belts three times on WWE programming: against Judgment Day again on the August 4 episode of Raw, against The Culling’s Izzi Dame and Tatum Paxley at NXT Homecoming, and against Alba Fyre and Chelsea Green on the September 19 episode of Raw. Bliss has now held the tag titles four times with three different partners: twice with Nikki Cross, once with Asuka, and now with Flair.

Title match, Brock Lesnar interview added to WWE SmackDown

A Brock Lesnar interview is one of the new additions to the lineup for tonight’s WWE SmackDown.

WWE has announced that, ahead of his match against John Cena at Wrestlepalooza, there will be an “exclusive interview” with Lesnar on SmackDown tonight. The Lesnar vs. Cena match is set to open the Wrestlepalooza card on Saturday, serving as the official start of WWE’s new PLE era on ESPN.

“Brock Lesnar returns to SmackDown and gives an exclusive interview ahead of his blockbuster match with John Cena at Wrestlepalooza,” WWE.com wrote. “Don’t miss all the action of SmackDown, tonight at 8 ET/7 CT on USA.”

Along with that, it’s been confirmed that Women’s Tag Team Champions Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss will defend their titles against Chelsea Green & Alba Fyre tonight. The champs have been feuding with Green and the Secret Hervice since shortly after winning the belts at SummerSlam.

Flair & Bliss are making their second title defense this week after having already defeated Izzi Dame & Tatum Paxley at NXT Homecoming.

The Huntington Center in Toledo, Ohio is hosting tonight’s show. Here is the updated card:

WWE SmackDown (Friday, September 19) —

  • Exclusive interview with Brock Lesnar
  • WWE Champion Cody Rhodes appears
  • United States Champion Sami Zayn defends against Carmelo Hayes
  • WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss defend against Chelsea Green & Alba Fyre

Title match confirmed for WWE NXT Homecoming

A WWE Women’s Tag Team title match is set for next week’s NXT Homecoming.

During Friday’s SmackDown, it was confirmed that Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss will be defending the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles against Tatum Paxley and Izzi Dame, who won a three-way number one contender’s match on Tuesday’s show. SmackDown saw Chelsea Green and the Secret Hervice insisting they get their shot at the titles. Nick Aldis then confirmed that they would get a shot against whoever won the title match on Tuesday.

The Secret Hervice were originally set to get a title shot on the go-home SmackDown prior to Clash in Paris last month. However, Piper Niven was not cleared and as a result Green was set to replace her. But as the champions were making their entrance, the challengers attacked Charlotte’s knee, putting her out of action in storyline. Bliss instead defeated Green in a singles match.

Paxley & Dame defeated Fatal Influence and Sol Ruca & Zaria to become the new number one contenders.

WWE NXT Homecoming, Tuesday, September 16 —

  • Rhea Ripley, Tiffany Stratton & Stephanie Vaquer vs. Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley & Jazmyn Nyx
  • NXT North American Champion Ethan Page defends against Tyler Breeze
  • WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss defend against Izzi Dame & Tatum Paxley
  • Trick Williams & Carmelo Hayes vs. Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa
  • The Grayson Waller Effect with NXT Champion Oba Femi & number one contender Ricky Saints

Ronda Rousey: It’s ‘ridiculous’ that WWE had me facing Alexa Bliss

Ronda Rousey feels it’s “f*cking ridiculous” that WWE had her facing off against Alexa Bliss in the ring.

One of Rousey’s first-ever pro wrestling feuds was against Bliss, with Rousey defeating her to win the Raw Women’s Championship at SummerSlam 2018. It was the first title that Rousey won in her pro wrestling career.

During an appearance on The Lapsed Fan podcast, Rousey discussed how she was presented by WWE in her transition over from being a legitimate MMA fighter.

“The fact that they had me fighting Alexa Bliss at all was f*cking ridiculous,” Rousey said about facing the smaller Bliss. “And you want to know why they had me against Alexa Bliss? Because she had the most merch sales at the time, on that side. Like, what the f*ck? Like, that’s your decision making process?”

Rousey’s comments drew a reaction from AEW star MJF, who tweeted the following: “It’s almost like pro wrestling much like any professional sport functions as a business. F*cking crazy [mindblown emoji]”

While not responding to Rousey directly, Bliss sent out a tweet this afternoon that appears to be related to her comments:

Rousey last wrestled in 2023 and is now focused on pursuing writing as a career. In the Lapsed Fan interview, she said wrestling is “pretty much” in her rearview mirror at this point. She views her time in WWE as a sort of sabbatical where she learned things that can be applied to her current passions.

“That’s what made me have to step away, because it got to the point where I’m just like, they’re never going to allow me to make it as good as it can be, and, like, meeting them halfway in this range of mediocrity is like crushing my soul. So I can’t continue to do that,” Rousey said. “So I’m going to go f*cking be awesome and doing other things.

“I’ll take everything that I learned from pro wrestling and apply it elsewhere into my other passions, you know, in comics and fight choreography and in film and screenwriting and all of these things. If anything, it was like I was doing like a sabbatical. When you go off and you study something for years and come back and utilize what you learned, that was my wrestling sabbatical.

“I will take everything that I learned from that and apply it to all the other spaces that are bringing me joy.”

WWE announces change to SmackDown title match

WWE has announced a change to Friday’s SmackDown lineup, with Piper Niven no longer set to compete on the show.

Niven & Alba Fyre were supposed to challenge Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss for the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles on today’s SmackDown in France. But WWE posted a video this afternoon with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis announcing that Niven is “unavailable tonight.” The Secret Hervice will still be getting their title shot, though, with Chelsea Green stepping in for Niven.

Charlotte & Bliss won the Women’s Tag Team titles at SummerSlam earlier this month and began feuding with the Secret Hervice shortly after. On SmackDown last week, Niven defeated Charlotte in a singles match with interference by Green and Fyre helping her get the win.

Lyon is hosting SmackDown today in advance of Clash in Paris. Outside of the United States, the episode will air live on Netflix at 2 p.m. Eastern time. It will then be shown in the U.S. later tonight in its regular 8 p.m. Eastern time slot.

WWE SmackDown (Friday, August 29) —

  • John Cena appears
  • United States Champion Solo Sikoa defends against Sami Zayn
  • WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss defend against Chelsea Green & Alba Fyre
  • WWE Tag Team title number one contender’s match: The Street Profits vs. Carmelo Hayes & The Miz
  • Michin vs. Kiana James

New announcements made for WWE Raw

WWE has made a couple of announcements for tonight’s SummerSlam fallout edition of Raw.

Raw is taking place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York tonight. It’s been announced that Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss will be on the show, making their first appearance as Women’s Tag Team Champions.

The frenemies team of Charlotte & Bliss won the women’s tag belts from Judgment Day (Raquel Rodriguez & Roxanne Perez) at night one of SummerSlam. Charlotte & Bliss are members of the SmackDown roster but can appear on either brand since they’re the women’s tag champs.

Also announced for tonight is an appearance by Becky Lynch, who is still the Women’s Intercontinental Champion after retaining against Lyra Valkyria at SummerSlam night two. An accidental assist from Bayley — who was trying to help Valkyria — led to Lynch winning.

As a stipulation of her loss, Valkyria is unable to challenge for the Women’s Intercontinental title again while Lynch is champion. We’ll see if a new challenger emerges tonight.

Plus, new World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins will appear following his successful Money in the Bank cash-in at SummerSlam. After faking a knee injury for weeks, Rollins reemerged to take the World Heavyweight title from CM Punk just minutes after Punk won the belt from Gunther.

Rollins was a guest on the Rich Eisen Show today, claiming that he fooled the entire world with his knee injury ruse. Raw General Manager Adam Pearce said he plans to have a “very stiff” conversation with Rollins about the phony injury.

Here is the updated lineup for tonight’s episode:

WWE Raw (Monday, August 4) —

  • New World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins appears
  • Women’s Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch appears
  • New Women’s Tag Team Champions Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss appear
  • Sheamus vs. Rusev

Women’s Tag Team titles change hands at WWE SummerSlam

New Women’s Tag Team Champions were crowned at WWE SummerSlam with frenemies Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss winning the belts.

SummerSlam 2025 night one saw Charlotte & Bliss defeat Judgment Day’s Raquel Rodriguez & Roxanne Perez to become the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. Despite a tease that Charlotte & Bliss could turn against each other, they stayed on the same page with Bliss pinning Perez to get the victory.

There was a miscommunication near the end of the match where Bliss went to strike Rodriguez but accidentally hit Charlotte instead. Charlotte looked like she might give Bliss a receipt for that, but she instead took out Rodriguez so Bliss could hit Sister Abigail on Perez for the win.

After the match, Charlotte pulled Bliss in for a hug and they celebrated with their newly won belts.

The story leading into SummerSlam was that, despite their bond clearly growing, Charlotte & Bliss claimed not to be friends and said that they were only allies of convenience.

Ahead of SummerSlam, Charlotte told The Wrestling Classic that she’s the happiest she’s ever been in her career — and this team with Bliss is something she needed both personally and professionally. Bliss also expressed to Fox News Digital that she’s enjoying the “fun dynamic” she has with Charlotte.

Both Charlotte and Bliss are former Women’s Tag Team Champions, but this is their first time holding the titles together. Charlotte was champion with Asuka before, while Bliss has had reigns with Asuka and Nikki Cross.

Judgment Day’s Women’s Tag Team title reign began in April with Rodriguez & Liv Morgan as champions. With Morgan being forced out of action due to a shoulder injury, Perez stepped in as Rodriguez’s new partner at the end of June. WWE recognizes it as two separate title reigns.

Alexa Bliss: Joining Wyatt Sicks would be ‘fun to explore at some point’

Alexa Bliss is enjoying the work she’s doing in WWE at the moment, but she still thinks it would be fun to link up with The Wyatt Sicks at some point.

At SummerSlam night one this Saturday, Bliss & Charlotte Flair will team up to challenge Raquel Rodriguez & Roxanne Perez for the Women’s Tag Team titles. A victory would see Bliss & Charlotte continue their frenemies team, while a loss could potentially accelerate a breakup.

Bliss spoke with Fox News Digital ahead of the PLE and was asked about potentially becoming part of The Wyatt Sicks. Given her connection with the late Bray Wyatt, it would be a logical fit for Bliss and is something she remains open to.

“I always have the same answer to this because I truly believe it,” Bliss said. “Windham always said, ‘Alexa and I will always be connected and when it happens and when we reconnect, it’s gonna be something big.’ So, whether that’s with the Wyatt Sicks or something else, I don’t know. Maybe we get a different side of Charlotte (Flair). I don’t know. It’s WWE, you never know what’s going to happen.

“I think it would be something fun to explore at some point. Right now, I’m having a lot of fun tagging with Charlotte and seeing where that dynamic goes. But obviously, I’m still always going to have a piece of Bray with me with the jacket and the skirt and the character and just kinda keeping it in that same vein in case that doesn’t happen. I think it would be something really cool to see, but you never know.”

The Wyatt Sicks consists of Uncle Howdy (Bo Dallas), Nikki Cross, Dexter Lumis, Joe Gacy, and Erick Rowan.

Night two of SummerSlam is set to feature a six-way TLC match with Lumis & Gacy defending their WWE Tag Team titles against Motor City Machine Guns, The Street Profits, DIY, Fraxiom, and Andrade & Rey Fenix.

Updates on three WWE SummerSlam matches

Our Bryan Alvarez has some updates on next month’s WWE SummerSlam card and the plans for three of the matches:

WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch vs. Lyra Valkyria

Alvarez said that as of now, the title match between Lynch and Valkyria is scheduled for Saturday of SummerSlam weekend.

Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss

Alvarez noted that a singles match between Flair and Bliss was originally set for SummerSlam, but Flair requested they keep the team together. The two will challenge WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Roxanne Perez & Raquel Rodriguez at the PLE.

The plan for Roman Reigns

Alvarez said that the current plan is for Reigns and Jey Uso to face Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed at the PLE and not a singles match between Reigns and Breakker.

Current WWE SummerSlam lineup | Saturday, August 2 & Sunday, August 3 from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ

  • Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena defends against Cody Rhodes in a street fight
  • WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunther defends against CM Punk
  • Randy Orton & Jelly Roll vs. Drew McIntyre & Logan Paul
  • WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton defends against Jade Cargill
  • WWE Women’s World Champion Naomi defends against IYO SKY and Rhea Ripley in a triple threat

  • WWWE United States Champion Solo Sikoa defends against Jacob Fatu in a steel cage match
  • WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez defend against Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss

Jelly Roll appearance, Tag Team title match set for next WWE SmackDown

For the first time since winning the WWE Tag Team titles a week ago, the first defense for The Wyatt Sicks will come on next week’s edition of SmackDown.

Made during Friday’s show, Rey Mysterio & Andrade will challenge Dexter Lumis & Joe Gacy for the gold they won from The Street Profits. The duo earned the shot in a fatal four-way as they defeated three sets of former champions in #DIY, Fraxiom and the Motor City Machine Guns.

Mysterio last held the gold with Dominik Mysterio in 2021 while Andrade has never held WWE tag team gold.

Jelly Roll, Logan Paul, Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre will all be on hand as the build toward their SummerSlam match — and Jelly Roll’s pro wrestling debut — continues.

Ahead of Alexa Bliss & Charlotte Flair challenging Women’s Tag Team Champions Roxanne Perez & Raquel Rodriguez at SummerSlam, Bliss and Perez will go one-on-one.

Here’s the current lineup for Cleveland, Ohio:

  • Jelly Roll, Randy Orton, Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul appearances
  • WWE Tag Team Champions The Wyatt Sicks (Dexter Lumis & Joe Gacy) defend against Andrade & Rey Fenix
  • Alexa Bliss vs. Roxanne Perez

Alexa Bliss on WWE Royal Rumble return: ‘I got the call at midnight the night before’

Alexa Bliss spoke about her WWE return and the reaction she received at the 2025 Royal Rumble during an appearance on The Nikki & Brie Show.

Bliss said she didn’t get called about being in the women’s Rumble match until midnight the night before the show, was on a plane at 10 AM that morning, and arrived at the building just two hours before it started.

She said:

“I got the call at midnight the night before and it wasn’t fully decided until like 4:00 AM. And I get a call at five, they’re like, ‘Alright, we need you on a plane by 10:00 AM.'”

“So no one would see me, I flew to Cincinnati, drove in, had to cover up, got snuck into a back room.”

“I didn’t get there until four, we are the first match starting at six,” she added.

Following her return, Dave Meltzer reported in the February 10 edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Bliss’ agent finalized a deal with WWE either the night before or the day of the Rumble and that Bliss signed a new five-year contract just before the show began. Weeks earlier, it was reported that they were at an impasse in negotiations.

Bliss says that when she arrived at the building she discussed what she would do in the match with Bayley and Natalya but her return was otherwise kept secret until she got to the Gorilla position.

“I owe all that to Bayley and (Natalya) cause they were so great about coming in, sneaking in and being like, ‘Alright, what are we doing?”

Bliss also spoke about the reaction she received when she came out as a surprise entrant in the Rumble. She says it was one of the rare times in her career that she’s been able to be in the moment and soak in the crowd’s response.

“I was so just taken aback and in the moment of it. I think that was one of the first times I’ve really just been in the moment (during) an entrance besides my first WrestleMania. Because a lot of times when I’m doing my entrance, I’m still thinking about what’s coming next. I get so nervous and I’m not able to enjoy the moment. And that was one of those ones where I just kind of actually took in the moment and I was like, ‘Wow, this is, this is pretty cool.'”

Charlotte Flair and Bliss will be in the Women’s Tag Team title match at Evolution after winning a qualifying match on SmackDown. Bliss said that she and Flair have had a bond since their days in NXT together.

“We’ve always had just this fun dynamic with each other. We always work really well together and we’ve always had this weird bond from NXT that we just always kind of gravitate towards each other.”

She added that one of her favorite matches is her vs. Flair at Survivor Series 2017.
