Match changed for WWE NXT Homecoming

Tiffany Stratton is not medically cleared.

In a social media post shortly before Raw on Monday, NXT GM Ava announced that Stratton would be unable to compete. Instead, former NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria will team with Stephanie Vaquer and Rhea Ripley to take on Fatal Influence.

“After her WWE Women’s Championship Match on SmackDown, Tiffany Stratton is not medically cleared to compete at Homecoming. As a result, former NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria will be taking her place in the six-woman tag team match against Fatal Influence,” she wrote.

Stratton defended the WWE Women’s title against Jade Cargill, a match that ended in a double countout after both women went through a barricade. Nia Jax assaulted Stratton further after the match, laying her out with the Annihilator.

Jacy Jayne and Fatal Influence were arguing in the ring last Tuesday when former NXT Women’s Champions Stratton, Vaquer, and Ripley made a surprise appearance. The show ended with the former NXT stars taking out the current crop of talent, leaving the veterans standing to close out the show.

Title match confirmed for WWE NXT Homecoming

A WWE Women’s Tag Team title match is set for next week’s NXT Homecoming.

During Friday’s SmackDown, it was confirmed that Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss will be defending the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles against Tatum Paxley and Izzi Dame, who won a three-way number one contender’s match on Tuesday’s show. SmackDown saw Chelsea Green and the Secret Hervice insisting they get their shot at the titles. Nick Aldis then confirmed that they would get a shot against whoever won the title match on Tuesday.

The Secret Hervice were originally set to get a title shot on the go-home SmackDown prior to Clash in Paris last month. However, Piper Niven was not cleared and as a result Green was set to replace her. But as the champions were making their entrance, the challengers attacked Charlotte’s knee, putting her out of action in storyline. Bliss instead defeated Green in a singles match.

Paxley & Dame defeated Fatal Influence and Sol Ruca & Zaria to become the new number one contenders.

WWE NXT Homecoming matches revealed

Multiple matches have been announced for the special Homecoming episode of WWE NXT TV on Tuesday, September 16.

After making their return to the brand in the aftermath of Tuesday’s main event, main roster talent Rhea Ripley, Tiffany Stratton, and Stephanie Vaquer will face Fatal Influence’s Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley, and Jazmyn Nyx in a trios bout at Homecoming.

After a surprise appearance on this week’s show, Tyler Breeze will return to NXT again next week in challenging Ethan Page for the North American Championship.

Carmelo Hayes will return to NXT again next week to team with Trick Williams against DIY’s Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa in a bout set up with a confrontation between the two teams on this week’s show.

Grayson Waller will also host an episode of The Grayson Waller Effect talk show at Homecoming, with NXT Champion Oba Femi and number one contender Ricky Saints lined up as his guests.

More surprise appearances are also set for next week’s Homecoming episode as NXT returns to their former home of Full Sail University for the special show.

Names from the past appear on WWE NXT ahead of next week’s Homecoming event

Surprises galore took place on NXT ahead of next week’s Homecoming event at Full Sail University.

Former NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes was the first to make a surprise appearance, backing up Trick Williams against DIY. However, Carmelo made it clear the former friends had not patched things up, accusing Williams of ‘squatting’ in his house. DIY challenged the two for a match for next week’s show, which will be live at Full Sail.

Later, after Tavion Heights defeated Ethan Page in a flag match, Tyler Breeze made his surprise NXT return, coming out to his old music and wearing his old outfit. He laid down and took selfies next to the laid out Page, setting up a North American title match for next week.

The end of NXT saw Jacy Jayne enraged that Fallon Henley and Jazmyn Nyx failed to win the number one contendership match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles. She berated her two stablemates as two cars pulled up to the Performance Center. After the commercial break, Stephanie Vaquer, Tiffany Stratton, and Rhea Ripley all came out after Jayne declared she was the greatest NXT Women’s Champion of all time. The three NXT veterans headed down to the ring and took out Fatal Influence to close out the show.

During a commercial hyping next week’s show, NXT teased that additional names from the past could be appearing with Bobby Roode, William Regal, and Triple H all being shown.

WWE NXT announces dates for two upcoming events

NXT has two new dates on the road.

During Sunday’s Heatwave event, it was announced that NXT Homecoming would be taking place on the September 16 edition of NXT on the CW. This will be held at Full Sail University, which used to be the home of WWE NXT tapings until 2020 when they were moved to the WWE Performance Center. The last event at Full Sail was NXT TakeOver: XXX in 2020.

Additionally, it was announced that another PLE, Halloween Havoc, would be taking place on Saturday, October 25 at the Findlay Toyota Center in Prescott Valley, Arizona. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, with a presale taking place one day prior.

WWE has used the Halloween Havoc brand for NXT events dating back to 2020, first being a television special before later becoming a PLE. Havoc will air on Peacock with WWE moving all of their main roster PLEs to ESPN starting with next month’s Wrestlepalooza.

NXT’s next PLE will be No Mercy, which takes place September 27. Two title matches are already confirmed.
