NXT Tag Team champions Nathan Frazer & Axiom were one of the best duos in the world last year. What happens when they defend their belts against multiple-time world champion Nic Nemeth? Oh, and his brother too.
PLUS: Joe Hendry’s concert is shockingly interrupted by a new challenger, Ace Austin shows how awesome he is against NXT’s Tyson Dupont, a Knockouts battle royal to name a new challenger for Masha Slamovich, Josh Alexander sets the stage for his last TNA match ever (for real this time), a new star emerges when Leon Slater teams with the Hardy Boys to face the System, Mustafa Ali starts to form his coalition, and Matt Cardona faces Mike Santana. All this and more on the Big Vinny V Show!
This week’s Big Vinny V Show recaps last Thursday’s edition of TNA Impact.
Former TNA World Champion Nic Nemeth appeared for the first time since losing the title at Genesis and his little brother immediately got him into trouble, running his mouth and picking a fight that didn’t need to happen. Things deteriorated from there.
Elsewhere, we got to witness NXT’s Cora Jade, ring general; Leon Slater vs. Brian Myers with the rest of The System making their presence known; Sami Callihan and Mance Warner kept fighting; Mustafa Ali, squared off with Laredo Kid in his first TNA match since July; Josh Alexander teamed with Eric Young against The Northern Armory but again only found disappointment; and NXT’s Wes Lee battled Ace Austin in an inter-promotional battle that I loved even if the live crowd didn’t.
The Nemeths will challenge for the NXT Tag Team Championship on next week’s TNA Impact.
In a segment posted to social media following the conclusion of this week’s episode, TNA revealed that Nic Nemeth and Ryan Nemeth will challenge Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer & Axiom) for the NXT Tag titles on the Thursday, February 6 TNA Impact.
TNA authority figure Santino Marella and daughter and “Miss NXT” emissary Arianna Grace announced the bout after the Nemeths were victorious over First Class in this week’s Impact main event.
A concert performed by TNA World Champion Joe Hendry is also on tap for next week’s Impact.
A number one contender’s battle royal will also determine the next challenger for Masha Slamovich’s Knockouts World title on next week’s episode.
The Hardys and Leon Slater will team up next week to face The System’s Eddie Edwards, Brian Myers, and JDC in trios action.
A Mike Santana vs. Matt Cardona bout is also set for the February 6 episode.
Next week’s TNA Impact lineup:
NXT Tag Team Champions Nathan Frazer & Axiom defend against Nic Nemeth & Ryan Nemeth
TNA World Champion Joe Hendry in concert
Knockouts World Championship number one contender’s battle royal
TNA World Champion Nic Nemeth will team with his brother Ryan on next week’s Impact.
After a Ryan Nemeth vs. Rhino match ended in a disqualification on this week’s episode, a tag match was booked for next week with both Nemeths getting a chance to tangle with their nemeses, as it will be Nic & Ryan vs. Rhino & Joe Hendry.
Hendry will challenge Nic for the TNA World title at Genesis on Sunday, January 19.
Four more bouts are also set for the Thursday, January 9 TNA Impact.
After a confrontation with the Northern Armory on this week’s episode, Mike Santana will face Josh Alexander, Sinner, and Saint in a gauntlet match on next week’s show.
In a tune-up for their Tag Team title challenge at Genesis, Trey Miguel & Zachary Wentz of The Rascalz will take on The Good Hands (John Skyler & Jason Hotch) next week. The Hardys challenged The Rascalz for Genesis on this week’s show.
After a backstage brawl this week, The System will take on Jonathan Gresham, Steve Maclin, and Eric Young in a trios bout on the January 9 episode.
Savannah Evans in action has also been announced for January 9.
The announced lineup for next week’s TNA Impact:
Nic Nemeth & Ryan Nemeth vs. Joe Hendry & Rhino
Gauntlet match: Mike Santana vs. The Northern Armory (Josh Alexander, Sinner, Saint)

In a document obtained by Fightful, former AEW wrestler Ryan Nemeth filed a complaint with several executives in which he claimed he suffered abuse, harassment and threats while with the company, specifically from CM Punk, and that AEW didn’t do anything about it.
According to the outlet, a timeline was provided by Nemeth in the complaint in addition to a claim of emails, texts, phone call logs and other records to back up his statements. The main issue was AEW’s lack of response to any of the incidents he allegedly had with Punk and where he instead was “ordered to to verbally antagonize” the now-current WWE star on TV.
The report stated he was seeking changes to AEW’s policies and financial consideration he claimed was offered to him in exchange for an NDA following the timeline he provided, the information of which is below. The report also says the complaint was sent in September, assumed to be 2023 while he was still employed.
Nemeth has been appearing in TNA Wrestling as of late with the report stating he spoke to Tony Khan and others in AEW earlier this year. Nemeth wasn’t interested in returning despite Khan entertaining the idea.
*********
Here’s some of the dates and incidents Nemeth outlined, according to Fightful. All dates are in 2023 unless otherwise indicated:
On April 16th, Nemeth claimed he contacted former chief legal officer Megha Parekh with concerns he would be targeted by Punk.
On June 21st, Nemeth claimed that Punk threatened him in a locker room (apparently due to Nemeth’s infamous “softest wrestler alive” tweet), also stating Parekh, the Young Bucks and Tony Schiavone showed him empathy for the incident. He wasn’t booked to wrestle for two months and said Jon Moxley supported him, claiming Moxley said the situation “didn’t sit right with him.”
On July 17th, Nemeth again contacted Parekh about a lack of response to the alleged locker room incident and felt he had been “silently fired” due to speaking up which Parekh assured him wasn’t the case. He was concerned his per-date contract wouldn’t be renewed.
On August 12th, Nemeth arrived in Greensboro, North Carolina, for Collision and was told to go home — an incident that was previously reported. The situation was initially said by Pat Buck to be simple travel confusion before he later told Nemeth that Punk didn’t want him there.
After calling Parekh again and requesting for AEW to do something, Nemeth said he was flown to a Wednesday, August 16th Dynamite and told to cut a promo in front of the live crowd where he would “verbally antagonize” Punk.
He then met with both AEW HR and legal on that same day and was unsatisfied with their response.
He was one of the people that spoke to outside counsel as part of the investigation AEW launched after Punk and Jack Perry’s backstage fight before All In.
Nemeth last worked for AEW on November 18th and his contract expired this past March.
The report stated that Chris Peck of AEW’s legal team reached out to work out a settlement for approximately three years salary in exchange for an NDA following the submission of the timeline (assumed to be in September 2023 while he was still with the company.) Nemeth said he was interested and wanted to discuss it more before being told it was pulled off the table for reasons that are unclear.
He also claimed Peck (who took over for Parekh, along with Margaret Stalvey) threatened to sue him about the timeline at one point and that Peck said he would be placed in an “antagonistic position to Megha” if the situation went to arbitration.
The former Dolph Ziggler and Ryan Nemeth were at Wrestle Kingdom 18 on Thursday.
Ziggler, who was identified as Nic Nemeth, and his brother made their way to ringside prior to the IWGP Tag Team & Strong Openweight Tag Team title match. After David Finaly defeated Will Ospreay and Jon Moxley to become the first IWGP Global Champion, he and Ziggler had a confrontation, having to be seperated by security.
Ziggler was released by WWE shortly after the sale to Endeavor went through on September 21 of last year. His first match since being released by WWE will take place on January 6 at WWC Dia de Reyes in Puerto Rico, where he’ll face Ray Gonzales.
Ryan Nemeth has made appearances for AEW, though has only wrestled sporadically in recent months. His last match was on the November 4 edition of ROH on HonorClub, where he and Peter Avalon lost a an eight man tag team match along with Lee Moriarty and Shane Taylor against Action Andretti, Darius Martin, and The Infantry. Ryan was also a regular on Being the Elite before the show ended late last year.
NJPW TV Champion Zack Sabre Jr. will defend his title against former Ring of Honor World Champion Christopher Daniels on tonight’s ROH on HonorClub.
This will be his fourth defense of the title on ROH TV while Daniels is looking for his second TV title run and first since 2011. This will be their first ever singles match.
ROH World Champion Claudio Castagnoli will be a non-title Proving Ground match against Ryan Nemeth. This will Nemeth’s first-ever ROH singles match and also his first with Castagnoli.
GCW Champion Blake Christian will take on Brandon Cutler while Matt Sydal battles Serpentico one-on-one.
In a trios bout, Dark Order (Evil Uno, Alex Reynolds & John Silver) will continue their run with a new attitude as they face former ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champions Dalton Castle & The Boys.
In two women’s matches, Leyla Hirsch will wrestle Leila Grey while Kiera Hogan matches up with Lady Frost.
**********
Ian Riccaboni and Caprice Coleman were on the call for this week’s Ring of Honor TV, with matches from the AEW Dynamite taping in Nashville, TN, and the AEW Collision taping in Lexington, KY.
The Dark Order (Alex Reynolds, Evil Uno & John Silver) defeated Dalton Castle & The Boys (Brandon & Brent)
Silver started this match by requesting a Boy, then gorilla pressing said Boy into the ropes. The Boys ganged up on Silver and Reynolds before Uno cut off Boy Brent from the outside. Dark Order singled out Brent as the commentators talked about the out-of-character underhanded tactics the Dark Order used.
Brent eventually got the tag into Castle, who flung the Dark Order about with suplexes before throwing Boys at them. Brent tagged in, but Uno sent Castle into him before Silver and Reynolds took out Castle on the floor. Silver and Reynolds cut off dives from the Boys, sending Brandon into the barricade. Dark Order then hit Brent with the Ragnarok to score the win.
Backstage, Lexy Nair was with Athena & Billie Starkz. Athena asked for this time to settle the tension she, and only she, saw between Lexy and Starkz. She made them friendship shirts before letting Starkz know that they would be teaming up to take on the Renegade Twins tonight.
Kiera Hogan defeated Lady Frost
Hogan challenged Frost to this match last week. They traded kicks before Frost sent Hogan to the floor with handspring boots. Hogan cut off Frost’s handstands by sweeping her down on the apron. Hogan hit an offensive combination that ended with a superkick for a nearfall. Frost avoided a corner charge and hit a high kick, then followed up with a cartwheel cannonball for a nearfall. Hogan then caught her with a twisting fisherman’s buster for the win.
Matt Sydal defeated Serpentico
Sydal quickly took Serpentico down and hit a twisting senton for a nearfall. Serpentico got his feet up on a corner charge and hit a headscissors, followed by a flatliner for a nearfall. Serpentico then hit a superkick before landing a DDT for a nearfall. Serpentico went to the top rope, but Sydal moved out of the way and hit a jumping back kick.
Sydal fired up and hit a fisherman’s buster for a nearfall. Sydal used a pair of flash pins for a nearfall before taking Serpentico off the top rope with a rana. Sydal hit the Lightning Spiral to score the win.
Backstage, Lexy Nair was with a slinged Stokely Hathaway. He talked about his tag team victory with Samoa Joe last week before noting his respect for Samoa Joe. Nair then told Hathaway that nobody respected him before leaving.
Leyla Hirsch defeated Leila Grey
These two clubbered on each other for a while before Maria Kanellis made her way to the stage. Hirsch held control until Grey fired up, hitting a rising knee and a Death Valley Driver for a nearfall. Hirsch hit a rough back suplex before locking on an armbar for the win.
Backstage, Lexy Nair was with Prince Nana & the Mogul Embassy. They’re defending the titles next week against Action Andretti, Darius Martin, and Lee Johnson next week. They all said that they were going to win.
Blake Christian defeated Brandon Cutler (w/Colt Cabana)
Christian kept Cutler off balance with his speed before catching him with a spinning headscissors. Cutler cut Christian off on the apron and shoved him into the post, but Christian spun around the post and hit a springboard dropkick that sent him to the floor. Christian followed it with a Fosbury Flop, but Cutler moved out of the way of a springboard 450 and hit a Michinoku Driver for a nearfall.
Cutler hit a trio of elbows before hitting an Airplane Spin on Christian. He made himself dizzy in the process, allowing Christian to hit a shoulder block to take him down. They traded kicks before Christian hit a Spanish Fly. Christian hit a Death Valley Driver and followed it with a superkick for a nearfall. Cutler hit a pumphandle slam before ripping off his track jacket and going for a Superman pin for a nearfall. Christian fired up and hit a handspring kick before hitting the springboard 450 for the win.
Lexy Nair was backstage with Tony Nese & Smart Mark Sterling. They complained about Jerry Lynn forcing Nese to wrestle instead of doing group training before chastising a nearby worker for drinking a soda.
Athena & Billie Starkz defeated The Renegades (Charlette & Robyn)
Starkz and Athena ducked an attack during the Code of Honor. Starkz got caught on a dive by both twins, with Athena hitting a cannonball onto the pile. The Renegades then isolated Starkz, hitting a double Fisherman’s Suplex for a nearfall. A lot of those on this show tonight.
The Renegades clubbered on Starkz for a while until she fought her way to a tag to Athena. Athena threw Starkz into a Renegade before powerbombing Starkz into both of them. Athena hit a reverse Alabama Slam on Starkz onto Charlette for a nearfall. The Renegades took Athena out of the ring before hitting a scary-looking double team on Starkz for a nearfall. They hit a double main event spinebuster on Athena for a nearfall.
Athena hit the knockout forearm before going up for the O-Face. Starkz tagged in as Athena jumped, then hit the Swanton Bomb on a Renegade to score the win in her hometown. Athena wasn’t happy and grabbed a retreating Renegade. She wanted Starkz to throw her into the title belt, but the other Renegade grabbed her sister and retreated.
ROH World Title Proving Ground Match – Claudio Castagnoli defeated Ryan Nemeth
Nemeth announced that tonight was Hunk Appreciation Night, leading the crowd in Thank You Hunk chants. He called out for anyone to fight, with Castagnoli making his way to the ring. Nemeth quickly tried to bail, noting that he didn’t think Castagnoli was there. But Castagnoli instead hit the Giant Swing – while still wearing the title belt around his waist – before hitting a big uppercut for the quick victory.
Before the main event, it was announced that Metalik would face the winner of tonight’s main event next week for the NJPW World TV Title.
NJPW World Television Title Match – Zack Sabre Jr. (c) defeated Christopher Daniels
This was Sabre’s 11th title defense.
Daniels had Sabre in a headlock, but Sabre escaped and hit a bicep stomp. He twisted the other arm before Daniels fought back with a pair of swinging neckbreakers. Daniels locked on a cravate before snapping the neck of Sabre. Daniels held control until Sabre locked on a guillotine, then quickly transitioned to an arm wringer.
Sabre hammerlocked Daniels’ arm before stomping on the arm, then worked on Daniels’ leg. Daniels got a big back suplex in after Sabre took a second to tend to his neck. Daniels fired up, hitting a Death Valley Driver for a nearfall. Sabre took Daniels down with a drop toe hold before going back to the arm with a bicep stomp.
Sabre went for a submission finish that Daniels fought off, hitting an STO for a nearfall. Daniels immediately transitioned into a Koji Clutch, but Sabre escaped by picking the bad ankle. Daniels cut off a submission attempt with a rollup, but Sabre was able to lock in a Rings of Saturn-style submission to win and retain the title.
The Young Bucks, Brandon Cutler, Colt Cabana and Ryan Nemeth were all featured on Being The Elite this week.
The Bucks were shown backstage after their win over The Gunn Club on Dynamite and Matt Jackson revealed that somebody has purchased the rights to the Hung Bucks merchandise. However, he doesn’t know who the mystery buyer is.
Nick Jackson was upset with this news but was appeased when Matt said he would take him out for pizza. Will Washington continued his role on the show as the guy who remembers things from previous episodes. He reminded The Bucks that having pizza is how they made up with Cody Rhodes on episode 161.
Ryan Nemeth was also back on the show this week. Nemeth appeared to be taking a break from the SAG AFTRA strike as he was seen visiting a petting zoo in the episode. He asked several animals if they would be going to Wembley for All In and if they feel Adam Cole and MJF can co-exist. At the end of his segment, Nemeth then decided that he is going to begin smoking cigarettes as a way to deal with the stress of the strike. Since he doesn’t really know how to smoke them, however, he just put the cigarette behind his ear to look cool.
Matt Jackson, who recently vacationed with his family in Hawaii, sent out a heartfelt message to all the victims of the recent wildfires in the area near the end of the episode. 100% of the royalties from a special edition Young Bucks t-shirt will go to the Maui Strong Fund.
The following are spoilers for this Friday’s edition of AEW Rampage which was filmed in Nashville, Tennessee, following Wednesday’s edition of Dynamite.

ROH World Champion Claudio Castagnoli defeated Ryan Nemeth
Nemeth came out with a mic in hand, welcoming everyone to “Hunk Appreciation Night.” He said he would fight anyone, even a world champion.
Castagnoli came out and Nemeth wasn’t interested. The match happened anyway and after 30+ giant swings and an uppercut, Castagnoli got the pin. Afterward, he said to the camera, “Careful what you wish for. Just because you don’t see me, doesn’t mean I’m not there.”
Dark Order (John Silver, Evil Uno & Alex Reynolds) defeated Dalton Castle and The Boys
Emi Sakura defeated Alice Crowley
Blake Christian defeated Brandon Cutler (w/ Colt Cabana)
Marina Shafir defeated Angelica Risk
NJPW TV Champion Zack Sabre Jr. defeated Christopher Daniels to retain the title

In the lone dark match before Dynamite, Matt Sydal defeated Serpentico.
As was the case Wednesday, Friday’s show will also be a Fight for the Fallen edition in an effort to benefit the Maui (Hawaii) Food Bank.
More details emerged throughout Monday regarding both a June confrontation between CM Punk and Ryan Nemeth, and Nemeth’s booked/unbooking from Saturday’s AEW Collision in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The following are a hybrid of reports from Dave Meltzer, PW Torch, Fightful and Haus of Wrestling.
Nemeth was brought into Greensboro on Saturday and then was told he wasn’t needed, given his itinerary to return home. That was on the same night a pre-taped promo Hangman Page was brought in for was moved offsite rather than being done at the building, reported by Meltzer.
Meltzer said on Sunday’s Wrestling Observer Radio that other talents have experienced the same treatment regarding Saturday bookings including Matt Hardy and head of talent relations Christopher Daniels. Fightful reported Monday that Isiah Kassidy was also booked and then unbooked with Hardy, but that was not this past Saturday.
In Monday’s daily update, Meltzer wrote that the Punk camp is claiming they didn’t get Page or Hardy removed from recent Collision events which is disputed by others.
The Nemeth situation
The general gist, according to Haus of Wrestling’s Nick Hausman, is “Punk is looking to keep drama out of the Collision locker room” which is where the Nemeth tweet comes into the equation. PW Torch’s Wade Keller also wrote that Punk is trying to keep things harmonious on Saturdays as “he is fiercely protective of Collision being a low drama environment, which is why he doesn’t want wrestlers he perceives as disloyal or too closely aligned with The Elite crew to be backstage at Collision.”
The crux of the issues between Punk and Nemeth stem from Nemeth’s “literally the softest man alive” tweet which came after Punk’s return promo on the debut of Collision. According to Keller, the aforementioned confrontation between Punk and Nemeth took place on the June 21st Dynamite in Chicago that Punk made a surprise appearance on.
The stories reported by Keller and Hausman diverge in terms of the veracity of the conversation, but both reported the two men shook hands in the end.
The Torch reported Punk “angrily and aggressively” confronted Nemeth while getting right in his face and asking if they needed to step outside. The “awkward and weird” conversation moved from a locker room to a hallway where the talk continued. Nemeth felt Punk was the one who shot first with his “counterfeit bucks” line in his return promo while Punk’s issue was how the tweet added to the existing perceptions of problems between himself and the Young Bucks. Nemeth questioned whether he should comment on any things Punk says on AEW TV to which Punk suggested he shouldn’t.
Conversely, Haus of Wrestling’s report was that Punk asked Nemeth to call him “soft” to his face which Nemeth declined to do. Punk said he felt Nemeth’s tweet was to try to gain favor with the Young Bucks for more TV time. The report had them agree no violence was necessary with Punk asking Nemeth “to stop tweeting negative things so everyone could start moving on from the negativity” — not just specifically about him.
Fightful’s reporting had elements of both stories, adding that, “It was confirmed to us that Punk didn’t want Nemeth on Collision, even eating in catering, much less wrestling on the show. It wasn’t clarified to us if that was because of his tweet or the relationship with the Elite. “
The Torch also reported that wrestlers are uneasy to speak out about Punk given his favor with AEW owner Tony Khan. They reported that Khan chanted “CM Punk!” while in the gorilla position after Punk made his return to AEW on the first Collision.
“The feeling backstage among wrestlers not in a position of power with a big contract is to lay low when it comes to Punk because you don’t want to be on what is essentially his enemies list,” Keller wrote.
The report that Daniels had been asked to not be at Collision was also clarified by Haus of Wrestling who wrote the reason was his involvement in the post-All Out fight between Punk, Ace Steel, Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks. According to Hausman, Punk asked that Daniels not be allowed backstage at Collision since Steel, who is working as a remote employee, was not allowed to return at Collision.
Dave Meltzer is reporting that Hangman Page is not the only wrestler to have been booked and then asked to leave from recent AEW Collision shows.
Meltzer noted in Sunday’s Daily Update that Page had been booked to film a pre-tape interview for Dynamite at the Greensboro (North Carolina) Coliseum this past Saturday but when he arrived, Page was told they would have to do the segment away from the building.
Meltzer addressed the backstage issues in AEW further on Wrestling Observer Radio, stating that similar situations involving Matt Hardy and Christopher Daniels have occurred as well. He also confirmed a report from Fightful Select that Ryan Nemeth has been sent home from shows recently too.
While not explicitly stated by Meltzer, the common denominator is CM Punk who has had his issues with Page and addressed the former AEW World Champion in an off-air promo Saturday that did nothing to quell matters between them as his comments were not part of any angle.
“Everyone believes that it’s Punk. I’m sure that Tony (Khan) will say it’s not Punk, just like he did before,” Meltzer said.
Nemeth and Punk’s issues stem from Nemeth tweeting “Literally the softest man alive” following Punk’s return promo where he mockingly apologized to fans of The Elite where he said, “I am sorry that the only people softer than you are the wrestlers you like.” Nemeth has since deactivated his Twitter account.
“Punk confronts (Nemeth) on June 17th in Chicago his first night back,” Meltzer said on WOR. “Something happened. I was told it was all settled, it wasn’t a big deal. Obviously, it was not all settled.”
“What ends up happening because one’s a star and one is not a star is that Ryan Nemeth wasn’t booked after that point.
“For whatever reason, (Nemeth) was supposed to come back last night in Greensboro, came in and then was told – however the story goes – all of a sudden, people find out that he’s there and then he’s told not to go to the building after he was booked. So, he was never at the building, nobody saw him at the building but he was there.”
“Matt Hardy was booked on a Saturday, went there, and then was told not to go to the building after he got there. That was not last night, but Matt Hardy was one of them. Christopher Daniels, who had been working with Matt Sydal as a tag team in Ring of Honor, for whatever reason, same thing happened with him. He’s not supposed to go on Saturdays and he’s frickin’ head of talent relations. There may be others, but those are the ones that I know of that have been happening too,” Meltzer continued.
Nick Hausman is reporting that Nemeth and Daniels being sent home from Collision were a direct result of conflicts with Punk.
“Notably, Christopher Daniels’ involvement in the post-AEW All Out altercation was specifically portrayed to us as the reason The Fallen Angel is not at Collision,” Hausman wrote. “Since Ace Steel, Punk’s good friend, was also involved in the altercation but not allowed to return backstage for Collision, Punk is said to feel the same about Daniels and does not want him backstage either.”
As for Nemeth, Punk is said to feel that his “softest man alive” Tweet shows he is willing to unnecessarily cause drama backstage and Punk doesn’t want that at Collision tapings.
