New Tag Team Champions crowned at AAA Noche de Los Grandes, Pagano turns against Psycho Clown

The War Raiders (Erik & Ivar) are the new AAA World Tag Team Champions.

Every title match on Night One of AAA Noche de Los Grandes has witnessed a new champion get crowned. The event began with Rey Fenix winning the Cruiserweight title, followed by El Hijo del Vikingo winning the Latin American Championship. And in the third match of the night, The War Raiders defeated Pagano and Psycho Clown to win the AAA World Tag Team titles in a nine-minute match.

In recent weeks, tensions between Pagano and Psycho Clown reached new heights. And tonight, those same tensions caused an end to their title reign. The War Raiders picked up the victory after a certain miscommunication.

The closing moments saw Pagano accidentally clothesline Psycho Clown, before Erik & Ivar took advantage of the momentum and pinned Psycho Clown to take home the victory. However, things took a new turn after the bout.

Pagano turns against Psycho Clown after title loss at AAA Noche de Los Grandes

Moments after losing their titles, Psycho Clown started blaming Pagano for the loss. After a series of shoves between the two men, Pagano chose to ignore Psycho Clown and turned his back on his partner.

As Pagano walked off the stage, Clown was attacked by The War Raiders. Despite in a spot to help out his partner, Pagano decided to turn his back on him and walk out. As of now, no official statement has been shared regarding the status of their team.

BVV: Recapping weak episodes of TNA Impact & AAA

Well, you can’t win ’em all. TNA and AAA both put up TV shows last week, but neither turned out to be particularly exciting.

Vince Verhei talks about them all on the latest Big Vinny V Show.

TNA is still six weeks out from Slammiversary and seems to be in no hurry to put a card together. So, Impact featured EC3 making a very uninspiring return against Eric Young; a promo segment building a feud exactly zero fans could possibly want to see; a short, forgettable tag team championship match, which was followed by a longer, non-title tag team match that felt more important; and a completely new and original program pitting a babyface challenger against a heel authority figure.

And then, it was capped off by an Arianna Grace main event, of all things.

Meanwhile, in AAA, there’s a pointless banger of a three-way, an AEW special of a debut, and a main event angle that accomplished nothing.

Thank god I’m entertaining. Come listen to the Big Vinny V Show!

WWE x AAA Worlds Collide notes: Xavier Woods, Reina de Reinas contender, Wyatt Sicks

Notes from Friday night’s World’s Collide event in Las Vegas.

In a backstage interview, it was revealed that Grayson Waller would be teaming with Kofi Kingston in the advertised New Day/Psycho Clown & Vikingo match for the AAA Tag Team titles. Xavier Woods revealed that he had surgery earlier in the week and as a result, was unable to wrestle.

Later, Woods wrote in character that the surgery was to remove a lipoma from the back of his head as a result of Penta giving him a Mexican destroyer. A recent storyline on Raw is The New Day attempting to ban the destroyer, which is a signature move of Penta’s.

After Psycho Clown and Pagano retained the titles, they were set to be interviewed when the lights went out. The Wyatt Sicks then made their surprise entrance, where they went to the ring and laid out both men in a 5 on 2 assault, attacking them with stairs and putting them through tables. The segment ended with the group holding the AAA Tag Team titles, indicating they wanted the next shot.

A new number one contender was also crowned for the AAA Reina de Reinas title. Natalya proved victorious, pinning Faby Apache as they were trading pin attempts. Natalya came to the ring portraying her “low-key legend’ character that has been seen in places like the NWA and Bloodspoort.

After the match, the two continued to fight with the announcers saying their feud is far from over. Natalya has now earned a future match against champion Flammer.

Two titles change hands at AAA Triplemania XXXIII

Two titles have changed hands in AAA.

The first title change took place when El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. won AAA’s Latin American Championship, defeating El Mesias. Dorian Roldan was in Mesias’ corner and interfered, causing Wagner’s father, Dr. Wagner Jr., to hop over the barricade and lay out Roldan. Mesias got a nearfall with a spear, but his father’s distraction at ringside allowed Wagner to cut off Mesias from the top rope, hitting a superplex then connecting with the Wagner driver for the win.

After the match, Wagner’s father handed him the title as they both celebrated in the ring.

In a street fight, Angel and Berto lost the AAA Tag Team titles to Psycho Clown and Pagano in a street fight. In a match filled with kendo sticks, barbed wire, and a lot of tables, Psycho Clown won the match for his team after hitting a spanish fly off the top rope. After the match, the rest of the clowns came out and celebrated with the new champions.

The Reina de Reinas title was also on the line at Triplemania, but Flammer kept her title after pinning Faby Apache, who had her foot on the ropes. Tirantes, the heel referee in AAA, didn’t see Apache’s foot on the rope and counted anyway, giving Flammer the win. After the match, Natalya and Apache brawled.

MLW Fusion results: El Hijo del Vikingo in trios action

This week’s MLW Fusion was taped in Tijuana, Mexico, as part of the MLW and AAA Super Series tapings featuring Joe Dombrowski and Christian Cole were on the call.

We saw what The Second Gear Crew had been getting up to in Tijuana. In a hotel room, Mance Warner, 1 Called Manders and Matthew Justice woke up from a heavy night south of the border. Microman emerged from a mountain of blankets and female underwear. They left the room on the search for cervezas and a route to the border.

La Rebellion (Bestia 666 & Mecha Wolf) defeated Taurus & Abismo Negro Jr

This was good non-stop action and the first of two matches like this in the episode.

It broke down into the more traditional lucha style tag matches where double teams and flexing of the more traditional tag rules were in play. The action was nonstop with all hitting high-impact moves throughout.

Abismo came out spraying fire via an air canister. During the match, he hit a power bomb and a middle rope dropkick to the groin on Bestia 666.

Taurus was brilliant here. For the MLW fans, he was compared to Jacob Fatu as having the larger frame but being able to keep up with the athleticism of the traditional lucha libre style wrestling.

Mecha Wolf and Bestia were on form as their tag experience showed early with stereo suicide dives followed by stereo beers from the Tijuana crowd. Later on, Bestia took out his opponents with a slingshot headscissors as part of the non-stop action.

The first nearfall came from Abismo after a Styles Clash. Taurus was thrown to the floor which left Abismo alone with La Rebellion. He eventually fell to a double team power bomb/backstabber combination called the Mark of the Beast for the pin and win. This was a great way to open the show.

– During the match, it was announced that the originally scheduled match between MLW Featherweight Champion Taya Valkyrie vs. Delmi Exo has been postponed. Later, Sam Leterna interviewed Exo and got word during the interview that Court Bauer had rebooked the match for two weeks.

– Willie Mack was having issues as he had supposedly had some news of the whereabouts of Cesar Duran. When Sam Adonis, John Hennigan and Valkyrie saw him trying to sell some of Duran’s belongings at the merchandise stand, they confronted Mack who ended up getting an Openweight title shot from Hennigan at the promise of disclosing what he knows.

– Jacob Fatu cut a promo following his recent beatdown by The Calling. He said that the attack only woke him up. He has been at war with CONTRA Unit before, and The Calling are no different. He also called out Hennigan as a reminder he still has a shot at the Openweight title when he is back in action.

– Ricky Shane Page & AKIRA vs. Juicy Finau & Lance Anoa’i was booked for July’s Never Say Never as well as the return of Timothy Thatcher.

https://twitter.com/MLW/status/1664572060860039169

– Ahead of his MLW title match with Alex Hammerstone at Never Say Never, Alex Kane said fans will find out who has been bankrolling the Bomaye Fight Club that same night.

– After picking up a win in her debut match a few weeks ago against Brittany Blake, the self-proclaimed “international pop star” B3CCA will be in action next week and a poll will determine if she will sing live at Never Say Never.

El Hijo del Vikingo, Psycho Clown & Rey Horus defeated Sam Adonis, John Hennigan & Gringo Loco in a no DQ match

This was 15 minutes of spots and competitive non-stop action. It was understandably hard to keep up with the action, but it was filled with continuous high-flying, impact moves and good heat for the American team representing MLW.

The ongoing AAA feud between Adonis and Clown continued as they started brawling with weapons on the outside. We were told they are partners in an upcoming AAA tag team tournament where the losing pair will compete in a mask vs. hair match with Clown wanting to take Adonis’ hair.

The USA team took control early, triple teaming their opponents one at a time and even bringing in the corrupt referee to put boots to Clown. Hennigan hit Starship Pain, but Horus made the save.

As the heels beat down Clown and Horus, Vikingo saved his teammates by launching himself from one corner to halfway down the ropes, then springboarding to the opposite side to flip onto the top rope, bounce back, and armdrag both Gringo and Hennigan. That’s the best way I can describe it. It was a typical incredible Vikingo spot. The three faces then hit stereo dives onto the fallen heels.

https://twitter.com/MLW/status/1664432138811310080

The faces then took control. Horus battered Hennigan with a chair on the outside, Clown hit Adonis with a steel drum in the ring and Vikingo slammed Gringo on the stage. Hennigan was doused in beer at ringside that caused the ring announcer to warn fans to stop.

Adonis was then isolated on the top rope, ate a lung blower and then powerslam from Clown while Horus and Vikingo hit stereo Spanish Flies for a triple nearfall.

Hennigan hit Horus with a splash mountain power bomb for a nearfall, but Horus returned with a top rope springboard DDT. Clown then came in to use chairs to attack Adonis’ groin before he took his belt off to get his shots in on his opponents and the crooked official too.

Vikingo and Gringo Loco were next up to go one-on-one in the ring. Vikingo popped up onto Loco’s shoulders and dropped down into a headscissors. He then leapt from the top rope to cartwheel off the other top rope and hit a hurricanrana. Next, he leapt from the ring, over the top rope to bounce off the middle rope and hit another hurricanrana on the floor.

https://twitter.com/MLW/status/1664433900649676806https://twitter.com/MLW/status/1664434151972564992

In the ring, Horus hit his satellite DDT and then launched himself straight out of the ring over the top to the floor onto Hennigan.

The finish of this incredible match came from Clown and Adonis. Adonis missed a senton off the top and Clown hit a Code Red to pick up the pinfall win.

After just two weeks, this seems to be the end of the Super Series. It was a very enjoyable couple of shows with this week being the clear standout in terms of action.

Next week:

  • MLW Openweight Champion John Hennigan defends against Willie Mack
  • B3CCA in action

In two weeks:

  • MLW Featherweight Champion Taya Valkyrie defends against Delmi Exo

Semifinals set for AAA’s Ruleta de la Muerte tournament

Four luchadores have advanced to the next stage of the Ruleta de la Muerte tournament at tonight’s Triplemania event in Monterrey.

Pentagon Jr., Villano IV, Blue Demon Jr., and Psycho Clown all lost their respective matches tonight at Triplemania. As a result, they advance to the semifinals of the tournament that will take place on the second Triplemania on June 18 in Tijuana. At the end of tonight’s Triplemania event, it was confirmed that Pentagon Jr. will face Blue Demon Jr. in the semifinals, while Psycho Clown will face Villano IV.

The rules of the tournament mean that whoever loses will continue to advance in the tournament. The two that lose on June 18 will advance to the finals on the October 15 Triplemania event in Mexico City. The luchador who loses in the finals will lose their mask.

Pentagon Jr. lost to Ultimo Dragon in the opening match of tonight’s show. Villano IV lost to LA Park, while Blue Demon Jr. lost to Rayo de Jalisco Jr. after interference from Cien Caras and NGD (Cuartero, Forastero, and Sanson). In the final tournament match of the night, Psycho Clown lost to Canek after Dr. Wagner Jr. attacked Psycho Clown with a baseball bat.

Dr. Wagner Jr. challenges Psycho Clown to mask vs. hair match at GCW If I Die First

Dr. Wagner Jr. issued a mask vs. hair challenge to Psycho Clown at the end of Saturday’s GCW if I Die First.

The main event had Wagner defeating Joey Janela. After the match was over Psycho Clown, who had wrestled earlier in the show, came out to taunt Wagner. Wagner cut a promo and challenged Psycho Clown to a mask vs. hair match that would take place at a GCW event. Clown, who continually threw chairs into the ring as Wagner issued his challenge nodded his head, accepting the challenge.

The show ended with the GCW roster coming out to separate the two. It was not made clear when the match would take place.

Earlier in the night, GCW owner Brett Lauderdale posted a tweet apologizing for what he described as an “incident” that happened during a meet and greet prior to the event.

“Apologies to those that witnessed the incident between Psycho Clown & Dr. Wagner during the Meet and Greet tonite in Dallas,” he wrote. “We had no indication there were any issues and are taking precautions to ensure there are no further incidents this evening.”

GCW’s next event will be Believe Me on February 19.

MLW Azteca results: Alex Hammerstone & Pagano vs. King Muertes & Taurus

This week saw the debut of the new MLW Azteca miniseries from from Tijuana, Mexico, as Cesar Duran attempted to stack the deck against MLW Heavyweight Champion Alex Hammerstone, teaming him with Pagano to take on King Muertes and Taurus in the main event.

Duran cut a passionate promo in front of the live crowd, welcoming them to his “Theatre of Violence” before the new opening video package.

Aramis, Destiny and Myzteziz Jr. defeated Arez, Black Danger and Dinamico

The Aramis vs Arez feud continued here as they faced off on opposite sides of an exciting trios match that was a great way to start the show. The non-stop action sprawled inside and out of the ring as no tags were required.

Rich Bocchini and Joe Dombrowski explained the rudos and technicos heel/face disposition before mentioning most US-based rules are not in play which explained the dives, pinfall breaks and constant flow of action once one member left the ring without tagging.

After an opening sequence of multiple dives, Destiny hit Danger with a cutter from the top rope and Myzteziz Jr hit a torneo and a top rope head scissors on Arez. Aramis landed on his feet after flipping from the top rope, followed by a running Spanish fly in quick succession.

The rudos team had all three of their opponents pinned after Dinamico hit a top rope 630, Arez hit a top rope double foot stomp and Danger hit a springboard crucifix bomb but the technicos all kicked out.

After a break, the action continued with the technicos getting their chance to shine by hitting three big moves at the same time: Myzteziz and Aramis came off the top ropes with 450 splashes while Destiny flew through the ropes like a torpedo with a headfirst dive to the floor.

Arez and Aramis were left in the ring where Aramis hit his aeroplane spinning powerbomb for the win.

This was a good match that didn’t overstay its welcome. Danger is one to watch as he had some impressive and fluid dives and springboards here.

— MLW National Openweight Champion Alex Kane was highlighted with a video package showing him winning the title and his recent storyline with Calvin Tankman before he was interviewed by Alicia Atout.

Kane said that he pressed charges against Tankman because he assaulted him and his bodyguard and tried to steal their car. Kane will defend his title against Aerostar next week and if he retains, he will defend against Tankman at the MLW Blood & Thunder in Dallas, Texas, on January 21.

— Duran and Karlee Perez summoned King Muertes to their office to explain the main event for tonight. Muertes promised to make Hammerstone and Pagano no more as Duran said he would partner them with a mythical beast: Taurus.

— We saw a recap of the tension and ongoing storyline between Hammerstone and Duran. Duran wanted to befriend Hammerstone and get him on his side, but after rejecting a gift from Duran, Hammerstone was attacked by Duran’s storyline brother Matanza Duran (Jeff Cobb). Matanza didn’t get the job done, so this led to tonight’s main event with Duran bringing in more monsters to take out Hammerstone.

Psycho Clown defeated Richard Holliday (w/ Alicia Atout)

Atout joined the commentary team and explained that Holliday basically begged for her to join him to ringside. “The Wild Brawling Clown” was a heavy favorite with the children in the crowd and fans at ringside.

This was mainly used to get Atout on commentary to further develop the storyline of Duran’s dodgy dealings within MLW and his feud with Hammerstone.

Atout explained that Duran has caused friction, infighting and paranoia within the locker room since joining MLW. She also mentioned it was her journalistic duty to investigate Duran’s role in him joining MLW and the goings-on around the unnamed Salina de la Renta leaving.

Compared to the opening match, this seemed slow which wasn’t a surprise. Holliday interrupted a second suicide dive with a right hand to take control but after the break, there was a chop battle which ended with a Psycho Clown power slam. Holliday came back with a torture rack neckbreaker for a two-count.

As Holliday was climbing to the top rope, one of Duran’s masked assailants came to ringside and dragged Atout to the back. This distracted Holliday which allowed Clown to meet him on the top rope and a top rope Spanish Fly for the win.

— MLW Tag Team champions 5150 cut another of music video-style promo as they hyped up their title defense against the Von Erichs brothers in Dallas on January 21.

Kevin and Marshall Von Erich responded from their training camp in Kauai, Hawaii. Kevin was there hyping them up and getting them ready for their return to their hometown.

— Backstage, Duran was confronted by Holliday as he demanded to know where Atout was. Duran said she was safely locked in her locker room and he moved her there “to keep her safe from Psycho Clown.”

He then introduced a suspect looking local policeman from Tijuana who had a few questions for Holliday about an apparent incident in a nightclub the night before, something he knew nothing about. Holliday was dragged off after telling Duran he will be hearing from him (and not his lawyer-slash-father as he calls him).

MLW Champion Alex Hammerstone and Pagano defeated IWA Caribbean Champion King Muertes and Taurus in an Apocalypto match

Muertes looked strong here which should set him up for some high-profile matches this year in MLW.

An Apolocalypto match is a Texas Tornado match with weapons. A steel chair was used early on by Hammerstone while Taurus hit Pagano with a garbage can lid. On the outside, Taurus speared Pagano over the guardrail and into the front row. Hammerstone and Muertes joined them, knocking the full guardrail down in the process and continuing to barrage straight into fans and bystanders.

Taurus whipped Hammerstone with a camera cable while Muertes suplexed Pagano on the entrance stage. Hammerstone hit a pump kick to Taurus in front of the commentary table as the ringside brawling chaos continued.

After the break, weapons were strayed around the ring as Taurus and Muertes seemed in firm control. Cookie sheets, trash cans and a chair were all used before Muertes and Pagano were left nose-to-nose in the ring.

The heavyweight Muertes hit a spinning headscissors takedown before hitting a spear for a near fall. Hammerstone came in and hit a torture rack TKO onto a garbage can for a two count.

Hammerstone’s team looked in control as he backdropped Taurus through a massive wooden floorboard in the corner of the ring, Pagano hit Muertes with a blockbuster before hitting Taurus with a one-armed running powerslam on a chair. They both hit poor Taurus with a power bomb/top rope clothesline combination.

It was Muertes’ turn to take some offense as Hammerstone hit a German suplex and a power bomb as Pagano took to the air and took out Taurus on the outside with a rolling dive before putting him through another wooden board.

Inside the ring, Muertes was hit with a Nightmare Pendulum from Hammerstone which was the end as the MLW champion picked up the win for his team.

Duran appeared on the ramp to get Hammerstone’s attention, motionining with the cutthroat gesture. Hammerstone turned around, only to be smacked in the face by his tag partner Pagano. A three-on-one beatdown then ensued as the luchas stomped the champion.

Since Holliday was taken away by Tijuana “police” earlier in the night, that left Hammerstone alone to be beaten down. Duran’s masked assailants then carried Hammerstone out of the ringside area as MLW Azteca went off the air.

Next week:

– MLW National Openweight Champion Alex Kane vs. Aerostar title match

– MLW Tag Team champions 5150 vs. TBA title match

– Bestia 666 in action

It appears that Texano & Taurus’ mystery partner may be Killer Kross.

AAA Triplemania XXVI live results: Four aces mask match in a cage

AAA presents their biggest supercard of the year with Triplemania XXVI from Arena Ciudad in Mexico City. Four aces wager their masks in proverbial high stakes poker. LA Park, El Hijo del Fantasma, Psycho Clown, and Pentagon Jr. meet in a four-way mask match inside a cage. The losing ace will lose his mask.

On a show with a main event dubbed “Poker de Ases” (Poker of Aces), bets also determine other stipulations on the card. The semi-main is an anticipated apuesta match months in the making. Faby Apache puts her hair on the line against the mask of Lady Shani to settle a feud that began over six months ago. Their backstory arguably has more depth than any other match on the card.

Jeff Jarrett defends the AAA Mega Heavyweight Championship for the first time since winning the title a few months ago. Jarrett faces Fenix, Brian Cage, and Rich Swann in a four-way match. Four-way matchups are themes throughout the card. A ladder match involving four teams determines the number one contenders for the promotion’s tag team titles. Likewise, the AAA Mixed Tag Team Championship is on the line in a four-way tag match.

Trios matches — including a street fight and a lumberjack match — are also on the undercard. The pre-show includes Australian Suicide defending the AAA Cruiserweight Championship in a multi-person match of some sort that likely includes ACH, Shane Strickland, and Sammy Guevera.

Follow along with our live coverage beginning approximately at 7 p.m. Eastern for the pre-show. The main card begins at 9 p.m. Eastern time.

The show streams live for free on Twitch with either Spanish or English commentary.

**********

Not much to the pre-show. Technically, there was a pre-show before the actual pre-show — which mostly consisted of backstage interviews and live shots of an empty arena.

Hugo Savinovich talked with AAA Mega Heavyweight Champion Jeff Jarrett in a pre-tape interview. They both put over the importance of tonight’s show. Jarrett mentioned his family’s deep history in the business. He vowed to leave with the Mega title. Jarrett had great things to say about Fenix — but Jarrett says he will still beat him tonight. Jarratt said he has his trusty guitar by his side, and he also has a few tricks up his sleeve. “The King of the Mountain” is ready.

Aside from the interview with Jarrett, this may be the most boring pre-show in the history of the pre-shows. Nothing but a wide camera angle for minutes upon end — but there was at least pop music to entertain us. Bless our hearts.

Business really picked up shortly after the show was set to go live on TV in Mexico. The announcers were all introduced one-by-one. Bell time was soon. Striker noted on commentary that a documentary about AAA is debuting right after this show on the live stream.

Two matches took place on the pre-show.

Dragon Bane, Astrolux & Freelance defeated Draztik Boy, Latigo & Aramis

Freelance pinned Aramis in a Llave a la Gloria match. This is part of an ongoing up-and-comer series. The match was wild with lots of dives and highspots. They were going all out. There were Asai moonsaults and springboards — along with a Spanish Fly off the apron on the floor.

There was a tribute in memory of Villano III.

Sammy Guevera defeated Australian Suicide, ACH & Shane Strickland to win the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship

Guevera pinned Suicide with a 630 splash to win the title. Dives from the outset led to two of the four squaring off in the ring at a time. The match was fast-paced with highspots galore. Everybody got to shine at times. Killer Kross ran in after the match to clean house. Kross offered Suicide a MAD t-shirt. Suicide accepted to become the newest member of the MAD faction.

Dr. Alfonso Morales and El Apache in a ceremony were inducted into the AAA Hall of Fame.

The opener for the main card was a mixed tag four-way.

AAA Mixed Tag Team Champions Nino Hamburguesa & Big Mami defeated El Hijo del Vikingo & Vanilla, Angelikal & La Hiedra & Dinastia & Lady Maravilla

Hamburguesa scored the pinfall with a splash for his team to retain their titles. This was good and the crowd loved it. They had some comedy spots during the match with the closing moments getting more serious. They all traded near falls and saves.

Vikingo did a Shooting Star Press to the outside early on in the match. Angelikal executed a Phoenix Splash. Big Mami cleared the ring at one point — which really popped the crowd. Dinastia springboarded into a tornillo splash. Vikingo almost ate it — but he recovered for a double springboard. Vanilla was press-slammed out of the ring onto a pile of bodies. Big Mami then dived off the middle rope on everybody. The parade of dives continued down the stretch. Big Mami delivered a Black Hole Slam. Hamburguesa then jumped off the top rope with a splash for the pin.

Bandido & Flamita defeated Aero Star & Drago, Golden Magic & Laredo Kid & DJZ & Andrew Everett in number one contenders tag team ladder match

Bandido climbed the ladder to grab the contract to make him and Flamita the next contenders for the tag team titles. The match was a wild spectacle and a fantastic stunt show.

The first big stunt was Everett doing a springboard Frankensteiner on Laredo Kid off a ladder to the floor. Kid built a ladder bridge. Kid then broke out with a Spanish Fly on Everett off the bridge. DJZ springboarded into a twisting splash. Everett springed off the ropes into a Shooting Star Press to the outside. Kid took a sick and crazy bump off the ladder. Drago leaped into a cutter with Bandido on a ladder. Aerostar did a sunset powerbomb off the ladder. Kid and Aerostar both hung from the wire holding the contract. Bandido executed a moonsault/powerslam combo on Drago through a table. Flamita gave Aerotar a Death Valley Driver. Bandido then climbed up to unhook the contract hanging above.

The MAD faction lurked to the ring for promos and a challenge. Konnan was joined by Jeff Jarrett. Teddy Hart, Australian Suicide, Killer Kross & Juventud Guerrera. They called out and taunted Vampiro — who was on English commentary at ringside. Pagano and Murder Clown ran down to make the save — but they got a beatdown instead. Then they just left. Vampiro was livid because his music was not playing. He cursed and yelled about playing his music. They finally played his music. Vampiro then got in the ring to confront Konnan face-to-face. The ring cleared except for the two longtime rivals. They cursed at each other and exchanged insults. Vampiro had a contract for a match with Konnan. Before Konnan signs it, a loser leaves Mexico stipulation is added. The crowd was hot for the segment. A potential match is box office.

AAA Trios Champions Tito Santana, Mocho Cota Jr. & Carta Brava Jr. defeated Mamba, Maximo & Pimpinela Escarlata and Taurus, Puma King & Hijo de LA Park

Poder del Norte reatined their titles after they all splashed Hijo de LA Park for a pinfall. While the action was good, it felt rushed. They still managed to do a lot of cool stuff. The exoticos got to shine with triple dives and such. This was one of those don’t blink or you will miss something kind of matches. They tried to put ten pounds of goods into a five pound sack.

OGT (Averno, Chessman & Super Fly) defeated MAD (Juventud Guerrera, Jack Evans & Teddy Hart) in a lumberjack match

Averno pinned Hart with a powerbomb after a run-in by Poder del Norte. The lumberjacks had straps to whip anyone trying to powder. They even whipped the referee. The OGTs and MAD brawled — but they also mixed in highspots. Hart was doing creative spots as usual. Poder del Norte ran in to attack the OGTs. The dust cleared from the melee, and OGTs targeted Hart. Averno powerbomed him for the pin.

Following the match, OGTs and Poder del Norte continued to brawl. A fight almost broke out with a fan as the trios left the ring.

La Mascara, Rey Escorpion & El Texano Jr. defeated Joe Lider, Pagano & Murder Clown in a street fight

Texano pinned Lider in a brutal bloodbath. More so than a street fight — it was a weapons-filled death match. This was beyond insane at times. Weapons used included chairs, trash cans, ladders, light tubes, tables, thumbtacks, a shopping cart, and fire.

The brutality began from the start. Murder Clown was slammed through a bunch of chairs stacked close together. Pagano got powerbombed into a ladder. Lider was hit with a light tube and wore the crimson mask. There were chair shots to the head — too many chair shots to the head. Pagano missed a moonsault and crashed into light tubes. Even more light tubes were shattered in sick fashion. Murder Clown did a flip dive to the outside.

Murder Clown moments later press-slammed Texano on a table covered with thumbtacks. Pagano took an ugly bump being powerbombed into a shopping cart. Pagano was cut off when he was nailed with light tubes on an attempted dive. Escorpion and Pagano did a Spanish Fly spot off the ramp through a flaming table. Even more light tubes were shattered. Murder Clown splashed Mascara through a table. Texano doused his bull rope and lit it on fire. Texano then whipped Lider with the flaming rope to score a pinfall that finally ended the insanity.

Lady Shani defeated Faby Apache in a mask vs. hair match

Apache lost her hair after being pinned by Shani. Fighting from underneath, Shani rallied to win despite crooked officiating and underhanded tactics from Apache and company. Taurus was the second for Apache. He interfered liberally. Hamburguesa was in the corner of Shani. He tried to make a save, but left on a stretcher. La Parka came down to replace him as the second for Shani. El Hijo de Tirantes — a rudo — was the referee. He cheated for Apache throughout the match.

Apache ambushed Shani with a chair shot at the start. Apache layed it in with stiff shots. Shani later waffled Apache with a chair shot. Apache got color, and Shani bled through her mask. Shani several times applied submission holds. Shani got a near fall where Tirantes made a slow count. Apache delivered a shining wizard. Even with a fast count by Tirantes, Shani still kicked out at two. Tirantes blatantly broke up a crossface applied by Shani. He tried to hold Shani for a missile dropkick — only for Tirantes to take a bump instead. Shani applied the crossface again. Taurus hit Shani in the head with a chair to break the hold. Parka jumped in to hit a tope suicida on Taurus.

Another referee ran in to argue with Tirantes. He shoved down Tirantes — and then gave him a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Shani used a lungblower on Apache to cover her for the pinfall. Apache at first teased leaving without shaving her head. That was a callback to the last time she lost an apuesta match. Apache eventually went back to the ring and shaved her head.

Fenix defeated Jeff Jarrett, Rich Swann & Brian Cage to win the AAA Mega Heavyweight Championship

Fenix pinned the defending champion — Jarrett — to win the title. Jarrett lost in his first and only defense of the championship. Dr. Wagner Jr. made a surprise appearance that played into the finish. Fenix ran wild at the outset — until Jarrett twice hit Fenix with a guitar. Fenix bled heavily as Jarrett worked him over.

Jarrett paused to do the Fargo strut alongside Swann and Cage. They then turned on Jarrett. Swann and Cage double-teamed Jarrett with the Hart Attack finisher. Fenix did a super Frankensteiner on Swann. Cage had Fenix in a delayed vertical suplex on the outside. Swann then took them both out with a dive through the ropes. Jarrett teased doing a dive — but he strutted instead. A trading of near falls began. Swann got one near fall. Swann moments later received a buckle bomb by Cage for a two count. Cage at the same time slammed and powerbombed both Swann and Fenix. Jarrett rushed in to apply a figure four leglock on Cage.

A wild scene unfolded in the front row when Marisela Pena threw a drink at Jarrett. Fenix then went for a dive where he accidentally wiped out Pena. Medical staff rushed towards ringside to aid Pena. Back in the ring, Jarrett hit the referee with a guitar. After Jarrett delivered a low blow, La Parka’s music blared. Someone in disguise came to the ring dressed as La Parka. That is a callback to a previous angle where Jarrett won the title. The imposter Parka unmasked to reveal himself as Dr. Wagner Jr. — who is the former Mega champion. A befuddled Jarrett was in shock. Fenix used a cutter in scoring the deciding pinfall to win the title.

LA Park defeated El Hijo del Fantasma after Pentagon Jr. and Psycho Clown escaped the cage

El Hijo del Fantasma lost his mask when LA Park pinned him in a singles match that followed a four-way cage match. There was really two matches rolled into one. Pentagon Jr. and Psycho Clown escaped the cage to save their masks in a four-way matchup. Fantasma and Park then faced off one-on-one without the cage.

Much like other matches on the card, this was a wild brawl. Likewise, the entire thing was another bloodbath. Chairs, tables, and trash cans were used inside the cage. Fantasma ripped the mask of Pentagon early on. Fantasma cut his hand badly during the melee. Meanwhile, Psycho Clown superplexed Park through a table. Pentagon and Psycho Clown fought while perched atop the cage. Pentagon shot a fireball at Psycho Clown — who fell back into the ring. Pentagon then climbed out to escape the cage. Therefore, he saved his mask.

Psycho Clown was next to climb out. He got the Roman Reigns treatment from the crowd — which is not an unusual reaction for Psycho Clown. Nonetheless, Clown escaped the cage to save his mask. From there, the cage was raised above the ring to begin the second phase of the match. El Hijo del Fantasma squared off with LA Park to decide who loses their mask.

Fantasma tore off the mask of Park. While that would normally be a DQ, Tirantes was the heel ref so he let the match continue. Fantasma splashed Park through an announce table with the help of Tirantes. Park bled profusely as Fantasma worked him over. A comeback by Park led to him doing a tope suicida. Park ripped the mask of Fantasma. Park then hit him with a monitor. It shattered and Fantasma got color.

They brawled into the crowd. Park hit Fantasma with various weapons. They got back into the ring to trade strikes and near falls. Tirantes was in total rudo mode. A ref bump sent Tirantes out of the ring. Park did a tope on both Tirantes and Fantasma. Back in the ring, Fantasma unmasked himself and sold like he was fouled. Two could play that game. Park also umasked himself and began selling a foul. Tirantes teased DQs, but he let the match continue.

Park shoved down Tirantes. Fantasma gave Park a low blow. Park still kicked out despite a fast count. They traded more near falls down the stretch. Tirantes and Fantasma began arguing. Fantasma shoved Tirantes. Park speared Fantasma and covered him. An angry Tirantes then counted the pinfall.

El Hijo del Fantasma unmasked after his father and son joined him in the ring. The night was still not over.

Dr. Wagner Jr. came to the ring to cut a promo on LA Park. A challenge was made for a hair vs. mask match at next year’s Triplemania. Park and Wagner cut promos on each other as the show drew to a close.

AAA Triplemania XXV live results: Psycho Clown vs. Dr. Wagner Jr.

In another title match, Monster Clown & Murder Clown became the new AAA World Tag Team Champions on a show were clowns fared very well.

The show itself was a mix of the good, the bad, and the ugly. Sometimes all those happened in the same match.

Kevin Gill and Gabriel Ramirez provided English commentary, and they did their best. Bless their hearts. They tried.

Ramirez throughout the night translated Spanish annoucements and promos into English.

Vampiro, La Parka and Faby Apache were at ringside to judge the Llave a Gloria (Key to Glory) matches on the pre-show.

Lots of dives, high flying and highspots in a match where the tecnicos won wiith triple pinfalls.

Marisela Pena is sitting at ringside with her family, along with the ashes of Antonio Pena. She was introduced to the live crowd, and she waved to the people.

Mini Psycho Clown, Hernandez, Hiedra & Mamba defeated Mascara de Bronce, Dinastia, Big Mami & Estrella Divina

Mamba pinned Big Mami in an intergender eight-person tag match. Hernandez did some funny spots with Big Mami. The others did dives and flew around. Hernandez powerbombed Bronce over the ropes to the outside where a group caught him. Big Mami popped the crowd with a splash off the middle turnbuckle onto a pile of bodies on the floor. Bronce did an injury angle being taken out by Hernandez.

AAA Reina de Reinas Champion Sexy Star defeated Rosemary, Lady Shani & Ayako Hamada to retain her title

Sexy Star submitted Rosemary with an armbar. This was tornado rules with everyone fighting at once in a wild match. They were beating the heck out of each other. Shani was busted open underneath her mask. They brought in a chair. The English announcers were wondering if the match was no DQ when the luchadoras started cracking each other with the chair. That settled the debate. They also used a sheetmetal garbage can. FMW lives! Rosemary went to the top rope, but Sexy Star caught here in an armbar. Rosemary tapped out, and Sexy Star refused to break the hold before doing so having retained her title.

A retired luchadora and former Reina de Reina champion, Martha Villalobos, presented Sexy Star with the title belt after the match.

Vampiro announced the Llave a Gloria winners as Angelikal, Ashely and Hijo del Vikingo. He also did the Dana White/Oprah gimmick of awarding everyone something. Participants from the previous prelim matches become the first class enrolled at a new training facility run by AAA.

Monster Clown & Murder Clown won the AAA World Tag Team titles in a four-way tag match with Dark Cuervo & Dark Scoria, DJZ & Andrew Everett, and Drago & Aerostar

Murder Clown pinned both members of the Dark Family after outside interference. Like the women’s match, this was also tornado rules. It was a highleet reel of crazy spots. They took it to the air early and often. Everett did a shooting star press to the outside to begin a parade of dives. After several dives, Murder Clown did a dive onto a group. Moments later, Murder Clown got superplexed on a Tower of Doom spot.

A lighting rig was lowered down to the ring, and Aerostar climbed aboard. The rig raised back up, high above the ring. Everybody kept fighting in the ring as Aerostar motioned to raise the lighting rig even higher. Aerostar then jumped off the rig high above into a crossbody down below on everybody in the ring.

Marty the Moth ran in and interfered while wearing clown makeup. Dave the Clown also interfered. Murder Clown splashed the Dark Family, and covered them for the pinfall to win the titles.

Marisela Pena delivered a speech and introduced a tribute video honoring legends and luchadores that have passed.

La Parka won the 25th anniversary torneo lumberjack match

Trios teams entered Royal Rumble style, and eliminations occured via pinfall. The teams meant nothing really, as it was every man for himself. The first entrants were Heavy Metal, Lanzeloth & Ricky Marvin. The next in was Faby Apache, Pimpinela Escarlata & Australian Suicide.  Then came the OGT faction of Chessman, Super Fly & Averno. Next was Histeria, Maniaco & Psicosis. They were followed by Scorpio Jr., Zumbido & Decnis. Then came Halloween, Mr. Aguila & X-Fly. Next in was the Mexican Powers of Nino Hamburguesa, Crazy Boy & Joe Lider. Wait, Joe Lider jumped factions. WTH? Anyway, in next is La Parka, Argenis & Bengala. The legends team followed with Blue Demon Jr., Pirata Morgan & El Cobarde joining the match. Jeff Jarrett entered the scene throwing tortillas at fans. He got hit with a beer. His GFW partners were supposed to be Bobby Lashley and Moose. Jarrett was doing his own thing, though, as he heeled on fans. They threw trash at him in response.

Latin Lover made a surprise appearance to present La Parka a championship belt for winning.

Pagano vs. Mesias in a street fight ended as a no-contest

Mesias attacked Pagano in the aisle during introductions, and they began brawling. The fought in the ring, before the fight spilled outside. They brawled around ringside, using chairs and a garbage can. They returned to the ring and continued the brawl. Pagano did a flip dive through the ropes.

Back in the ring, Pagano gave Mesias a draping piledriver. Pagano grabbed a bundle of barbed wire. He went for a moonsault with the wire — but he missed and landed on the wire. Mesiad hit Pagano with the wire. Pagano soon fired up again as the fight lumbered on. The fans began turning on the match.

Pagaon retrieved a barbed wire baseball bat. Soon thereafter, Pagano hit Mesias in the knee with the bat. A doctor came in to check on Mesias, and medics brought out a stretcher for him.

Meanwhile, Rey Escorpion ran in to attack both Mesias and Pagano. He delivered a beatdown on each of them. As Pagano and Mesias were being stretchered out, Escorpion kept viciously attacking them.

Multi-champion Johnny Mundo defeated Texano Jr. and El Hijo del Fantasma in a ladder match to retain his triple crown of AAA championships

Titles defended included the AAA Mega Heavyweight title, the AAA Cruiserweight belt and the Latin American Heavyweight Championship.

Tables, ladders and chairs were utilized liberally during this melee. Texano ripped and tore at the mask of Fantasma.

Fantasma did a tope through the ropes, trying to drive Texano through a table. The table didn’t break. Fantasma was then put through the table, and Texano did a senton off a ladder on to the floor. Fantasma was busted open and bled heavily. Texano also got color and bled a lot.

Mundo climbed a ladder, and Fantasma tipped the ladder over. Mundo crashed through a table on the floor. He looked to have taken a nasty bump as he almost overshot the two tables set up at ringside.

Fantasma backdropped Texano off a ladder onto another ladder set up like a bridge. Fantasma climbed the ladder and went to grab the titles. Kevin Kross ran in to attack Fantasma. Mascara de Bronce made the save. Hernandez also did a run-in. Texano and Fantasma — with the help of Bronce — fought off the intruding rudos.

Fantasma and Mundo slugged it out atop a ladder. Texano set up a ladder beside them and joined the slugfest. Fantasma shoved Texano off the ladder, and he bumped through a table. Mundo knocked Fantasma off the ladder.

Mundo then began taking the belts down. His music (Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the USA”) began playing before Mundo even grabbed the third belt. Good thing he still won when he pulled down the third title, or that would have looked awkward. It still kind of did anyway.

After the match, Mundo cut a promo. He called out Vampiro, and Mundo wanted Vampiro to put the belts around his waist. Mundo cussed Vampiro and called him a “bitch-made mark” a couple of times. Vampiro would not fight back.

Mundo slapped Vampiro across the face and spat at him. Mundo cussed him so more, until Vampiro could take no more. Vampiro grabbed Mundo by the throat and delivered a chokeslam. Vampiro then cut a promo on Mundo.

Texano and Fantasma started fighting again. They hit each other with chairshots to the head, and they continued to bleed. They started to brawl until they were separated by officials and security.

Psycho Clown defeated Dr. Wagner Jr. in a mask match

The crowd was chanting before the match ever started. The match started in the ring, but they soon began brawling on the floor. They went out into the crowd and brawled their way back into the ring.

They were trading moves when Wagner hit Psycho with a chop block to the knee. Wagner began working over Psycho, and Wagner ripped at Psycho’s mask. Wagner son, who accompanied him to the ring, threw a chair in the ring. Wagner hit Psycho with the chair, and Psycho got color by hitting a gusher. With Psycho bleeding all over the place, Wagner again hit him with a chairshot to the head.

Wagner kept pummeling Psycho as he continued to sell. Psycho fired up into a comeback, and he got a two count from a crucifix. Psycho got another near fall with a rollup. Psycho then began doing dives. He went for a flip dive onto Wagner’s son, and landed hard on the floor when he barely connected.

Psycho leapt over the guardrail into a flying clothesline in the first row. When they returned to the ring, Psycho tore at Wagner’s mask. Wagner soon cut off Psycho, then he gave Psycho a draping DDT.

Psycho fired up and got a near fall with la magistral cradle. Wagner fought back and he jumped off the apron with a senton. Wagner’s son interfered to trip Psycho. Wagner picked up Psycho in a fireman’s carry and dropped him into the first row with a fallaway slam.

Wagner executed a superplex for a close two count. Psycho countered with an Air Raid Crash neckbreaker for a near fall. They began trading moves down the stretch. Psycho delivered a swining DDT. Wagner got a two count after a Wagner Driver (Michinoku Driver). Psycho also kicked out of a second Wagner Driver.

In the closing moments, Psycho gave Wagner a superplex followed by a lungblower. Psycho Clown used a Code Red to finish off Wagner as he covered him for the pinfall.

Dr. Wagner Jr. must unmask.

Maximo and La Mascara, relatives of Psycho Clown, joined him in the ring to celebrate. Psycho brought his child into the ring. Wagner’s son consoled his father.

Wagner unmasked as Juan Manuel Gonzalez Barron, age 52, from Torreon.

AAA TripleMania XXIV results: Psycho Clown vs. Pagano

Australian Suicide won a battle royal for the 2016 Copa TripleMania featuring La Parka, Elegido, Taurus, Hernandez, Pimpinela Escarlata, El Hijo del Pirata Morgan, Daga, Super Fly, Zorro, and Mamba

Battle royal didn’t last very long, with La Parka being the final man eliminated. Last two in the ring were Daga and Australian Suicide, and it turned into a singles match. I guess this is similar to the Gauntlet for the Gold TNA used to do.

Lots of fast-paced action. Suicide hit a really cool shooting star press to the floor.

Australian Suicide won with a corkscrew but Daga had his foot on the ropes. He was awarded the cup after the match, but Daga jumped him, destroyed the trophy, and took off his mask.

Averno & Chessman went to a no contest with Mary & Faby Apache

This wasn’t bad when it was just a wrestling match, but it was also full of interference and weapons and there wasn’t a finish to boot. Gran Apache was the special referee. The women jumped the men at the start and ran wild.

Heel ref action started as Gran Apache stopped his daughters from doing anything, allowing the men to jump them from behind. Faby did a cool hurricanrana to the floor but was posted by Averno. Averno was about to hit one of the sisters with a bottle, but Gran Apache stopped him, which got him sent packing by the rudos.

Faby was about to pin Chessman after a hurricanrana but Averno hit her with a light tube. Gran Apache made the save, but then Ricky Marvin came out and laid him out with a chair. Marvin then bit his forehead when he was busted open. Faby was somehow busted open as well. No finish it seems as Faby was stretchered out and Gran Apache went to the back.

Drago & Aerostar defeated Paul London & Matt Cross, Hijo del Fantasma & Garza Jr., and AAA Tag Team Champions Angelico & Jack Evans to win the titles

Fenix no-showed, so Garza Jr. took his place. Largely a stunt show, but a fun one with a bunch of cool dives. Aerostar has the coolest entrance gear. Fantasma and Garza did stereo moonsaults to wipe out two teams.

Matt Cross did a Sasuke special that connected on the outside. London hit a shooting star press but Fantasma broke it up. Fantasma took him to the outside and did a suicide dive, then Aerostar followed with a huge tope that largely sent him into fans past the barricade.

Aerostar did a big corkscrew dive, wiping out most of the teams as London went to do something on the top rope but Drago misted him, kept rolling him around, then pinned him to with the match.

They did their Hall of Fame ceremony next. They inducted “Love Machine” Art Barr, as well as Dorian Roldan himself in what I guess was a surprise. I didn’t know you could induct yourself in your own hall of fame.

Johnny Mundo defeated Latin American Champion Pentagon Jr. to win the title

Solid match. Taya cut a promo before the match saying tonight would be Perromania. A lot of it was Mundo working on Pentagon and taking him out with some big moves, including a corkscrew to the outside.

Mundo missed Starship Pain, which allowed Pentagon to lay him out. Hernandez grabbed Pentagon but Mundo superkicked Hernandez, then superkicked the ref. Pentagon hit the double footstomp and went for the Pentadriver, but the referee was still down.

Taya came into the ring and turned on Pentagon, hitting him with a low blow. Mundo covered for the win and the title.

Vampiro came out with the Lucha Underground guys for the next match and cut a promo, then introduced Rey Mysterio Jr.

Rey Mysterio Jr., Prince Puma, & Dragon Azteca Jr. defeated Matanza Cueto, Mil Muertes, & Marty “The Moth” Martinez

Another match that had a lot of good action. Dragon Azteca in particular looked really good. Matanza and Muertes were good in playing the heel monsters. Muertes and Matanza were going for stereo powerslams, but Azteca and Puma slid from behind and managed to send them to the outside. They tripped up the Moth then did a double dive to the floor.

Mysterio, Puma, and Azteca picked up the win.

Simon Pegg was on the video screen doing a short promo for Star Trek Beyond, or as it’s known in Mexico, Star Trek: Sin Limites.

AAA Mega Heavyweight Champion Texano Jr. defeated Brian Cage and Dr. Wagner Jr. in a triple threat match to retain his title

This was also pretty solid, though the stream wasn’t perfect for all of it. Cage was going for the screwdriver when Texano transitioned into a roll-up and got the win, retaining the title.

Psycho Clown defeated Pagano in a mask vs. hair match

I wouldn’t say this was a bad match, but it was more spectacle than a wrestling match. Tons of weapons and dangerous moves used throughout, sometimes to the point of overkill. It’s something different enough that it stands out, but it went just a little too long for what it was supposed to be.

They took each other out with a bunch of dives in the early part of this match. Psycho Clown’s mask was ripped up and he was already a bloody mess as there were steel chair shots and barbed wire already in play.

They brawled to the outside where Psycho Clown laid out Pagano with a Spanish fly from on top of the barricade on top of a bunch of chairs… ouch.

Big senton to the floor by Psycho Clown took out Pagano. Both guys were busted open now. Psycho Clown, channeling Abdullah the Butch, grabbed a fork and stabbed Pagano on the forehead.

Pagano went for a splash on a prone Psycho Clown, but he dodged at the last moment and was sent through the table. Pagano countered back with a back suplex onto a table in the corner of the ring. Psycho Clown splashed Pagano from the top rope while covering himself in barbed wire, then hit a Canadian Destroyer. He followed that with a powerbomb onto two chairs, then took out another table.

Oh, here we go — thumbtacks were introduced and Psycho Clown suplexed Pagano through the table. Psycho Clown was about to make the cover when suddenly Damien and Nicho (original Psicosis) hit the ring and laid him out.

Dr. Wagner Jr. then came out to make the save. They hugged it out, but it was a swerve as Wagner laid him out as well. Pagano covered and heel ref Tirantes Jr. made a fast count, but Psycho Clown still kicked out. They set a table on fire. As they were setting this up, Psycho Clown recovered and speared Pagano through the table and pinned him, saving his mask.

Dr. Wagner cut a promo after the match challenging Psycho Clown to a mask vs. mask match. They did the same promo last year but with Caristico and Rey Mysterio Jr. and that never came to fruition. These kind of challenges usually don’t pan out. After both Psycho Clown and Pagano cut promos, Pagano’s hair was cut.

Not a bad show at all. Can’t speak for those that listened to English commentary, but aside from some stream issues here and there this was was a million times better than the trainwreck that was last year’s show.

I should mention that I watched the version with Spanish commentary. From what I understand, I picked the right choice as reports were that this was not Matt Striker’s night. Just all of his normal quirks that turn people off were well represented, apparently.
