Former WWE, AEW wrestlers win tag team titles in Mexico

Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows have added another set of tag team titles to their resume.

The Good Brothers won The Crash Tag Team Championships on Friday, November 7, at the promotion’s 14th Anniversary Show in Tijuana, Mexico. They defeated D’Luxe & Pierroth Jr. and defending champions El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. and Galeno del Mal in a three-way match.

The finish saw Anderson pin D’Luxe after the Magic Killer.

Before the match, Wagner Jr. and Galeno del Mal cut a promo announcing their intention to vacate the titles, hinting that their commitments with AAA/WWE would prevent them from defending the belts regularly. This brought out the Black Rebellion team of D’Luxe & Pierroth Jr., who demanded a title shot, followed by Anderson and Gallows, who challenged both teams.

The impromptu title match took place at The Crash’s 14th Anniversary show, which was streamed live on the promotion’s YouTube channel from the Auditorio Fausto Gutiérrez Moreno.. The title change marks the 13th in the championship’s history, with The Good Brothers becoming the 12th team to hold the belts.

The segment begins around the 2:30:00 mark of the video below:

Andrade set for first post-WWE booking

Andrade’s first booking since being released by WWE has been revealed.

The Crash announced Friday that the former WWE and AEW wrestler will appear on their Friday, October 3 event set for Tijuana, Mexico at the Auditorio Fausto Gutierrez Moreno.

An opponent for Andrade for the October 3 card has not been revealed.

Word of Andrade’s WWE departure broke last week as his second run with the company ended with a release after what our Dave Meltzer reported was “a disciplinary thing” that was “not drug related, it was not alcohol related, it was not marriage related.”

Since leaving WWE, Andrade has posted short messages on his social media profiles thanking the promotion. He also has engaged in social media banter with AEW wrestler MJF regarding a potential match between the two in CMLL.

Andrade was with WWE from November 2015 to March 2021 in his first stint with the company. He requested and was granted his release in March, then joined AEW in June 2021. He was with AEW until his contract expired following the Worlds End pay-per-view in December 2023.

He rejoined WWE in January 2024, making the first appearance of his second stint with the promotion as a surprise entrant in the men’s Royal Rumble match.

Lince Dorado asks The Crash to be removed from match against Marty Scurll & Travis Banks

After being booked against two wrestlers who were accused during the #SpeakingOut movement, Lince Dorado has asked The Crash Lucha Libre to remove him from their May show or change his match.

The Crash announced on Wednesday that Dorado & Destiny would be facing Marty Scurll & Travis Banks at their show in Tijuana, Mexico on Friday, May 13. But Dorado tweeted on Thursday that he’s asked The Crash to remove him from the event or change his match. Dorado noted that The Crash is working on it.

“I have asked @TheCrashLuchas to remove me from the show or change my match for their May event,” Dorado wrote. “Nothing else needs to be said. It’s my decision as I’m not influenced by anybody! They are working on it.”

Banks (real name Travis Bligh) was released by WWE in June 2020 after Millie McKenzie accused him of being in a mentally and emotionally abusive relationship with her when she was a 17-year-old trainee. Banks is 13 years older than McKenzie.

ROH announced in January 2021 that they and Scurll had “mutually decided to part ways.” In June 2020, a woman accused Scurll of sexually assaulting her when she was 16 years old in 2015. Scurll claimed that the encounter was consensual and that he wasn’t aware of her age at the time. Following the start of the #SpeakingOut movement, ROH announced that it had opened an investigation into its wrestlers who were accused.

MLW Azteca results: Alex Hammerstone & Pagano vs. King Muertes & Taurus

This week saw the debut of the new MLW Azteca miniseries from from Tijuana, Mexico, as Cesar Duran attempted to stack the deck against MLW Heavyweight Champion Alex Hammerstone, teaming him with Pagano to take on King Muertes and Taurus in the main event.

Duran cut a passionate promo in front of the live crowd, welcoming them to his “Theatre of Violence” before the new opening video package.

Aramis, Destiny and Myzteziz Jr. defeated Arez, Black Danger and Dinamico

The Aramis vs Arez feud continued here as they faced off on opposite sides of an exciting trios match that was a great way to start the show. The non-stop action sprawled inside and out of the ring as no tags were required.

Rich Bocchini and Joe Dombrowski explained the rudos and technicos heel/face disposition before mentioning most US-based rules are not in play which explained the dives, pinfall breaks and constant flow of action once one member left the ring without tagging.

After an opening sequence of multiple dives, Destiny hit Danger with a cutter from the top rope and Myzteziz Jr hit a torneo and a top rope head scissors on Arez. Aramis landed on his feet after flipping from the top rope, followed by a running Spanish fly in quick succession.

The rudos team had all three of their opponents pinned after Dinamico hit a top rope 630, Arez hit a top rope double foot stomp and Danger hit a springboard crucifix bomb but the technicos all kicked out.

After a break, the action continued with the technicos getting their chance to shine by hitting three big moves at the same time: Myzteziz and Aramis came off the top ropes with 450 splashes while Destiny flew through the ropes like a torpedo with a headfirst dive to the floor.

Arez and Aramis were left in the ring where Aramis hit his aeroplane spinning powerbomb for the win.

This was a good match that didn’t overstay its welcome. Danger is one to watch as he had some impressive and fluid dives and springboards here.

— MLW National Openweight Champion Alex Kane was highlighted with a video package showing him winning the title and his recent storyline with Calvin Tankman before he was interviewed by Alicia Atout.

Kane said that he pressed charges against Tankman because he assaulted him and his bodyguard and tried to steal their car. Kane will defend his title against Aerostar next week and if he retains, he will defend against Tankman at the MLW Blood & Thunder in Dallas, Texas, on January 21.

— Duran and Karlee Perez summoned King Muertes to their office to explain the main event for tonight. Muertes promised to make Hammerstone and Pagano no more as Duran said he would partner them with a mythical beast: Taurus.

— We saw a recap of the tension and ongoing storyline between Hammerstone and Duran. Duran wanted to befriend Hammerstone and get him on his side, but after rejecting a gift from Duran, Hammerstone was attacked by Duran’s storyline brother Matanza Duran (Jeff Cobb). Matanza didn’t get the job done, so this led to tonight’s main event with Duran bringing in more monsters to take out Hammerstone.

Psycho Clown defeated Richard Holliday (w/ Alicia Atout)

Atout joined the commentary team and explained that Holliday basically begged for her to join him to ringside. “The Wild Brawling Clown” was a heavy favorite with the children in the crowd and fans at ringside.

This was mainly used to get Atout on commentary to further develop the storyline of Duran’s dodgy dealings within MLW and his feud with Hammerstone.

Atout explained that Duran has caused friction, infighting and paranoia within the locker room since joining MLW. She also mentioned it was her journalistic duty to investigate Duran’s role in him joining MLW and the goings-on around the unnamed Salina de la Renta leaving.

Compared to the opening match, this seemed slow which wasn’t a surprise. Holliday interrupted a second suicide dive with a right hand to take control but after the break, there was a chop battle which ended with a Psycho Clown power slam. Holliday came back with a torture rack neckbreaker for a two-count.

As Holliday was climbing to the top rope, one of Duran’s masked assailants came to ringside and dragged Atout to the back. This distracted Holliday which allowed Clown to meet him on the top rope and a top rope Spanish Fly for the win.

— MLW Tag Team champions 5150 cut another of music video-style promo as they hyped up their title defense against the Von Erichs brothers in Dallas on January 21.

Kevin and Marshall Von Erich responded from their training camp in Kauai, Hawaii. Kevin was there hyping them up and getting them ready for their return to their hometown.

— Backstage, Duran was confronted by Holliday as he demanded to know where Atout was. Duran said she was safely locked in her locker room and he moved her there “to keep her safe from Psycho Clown.”

He then introduced a suspect looking local policeman from Tijuana who had a few questions for Holliday about an apparent incident in a nightclub the night before, something he knew nothing about. Holliday was dragged off after telling Duran he will be hearing from him (and not his lawyer-slash-father as he calls him).

MLW Champion Alex Hammerstone and Pagano defeated IWA Caribbean Champion King Muertes and Taurus in an Apocalypto match

Muertes looked strong here which should set him up for some high-profile matches this year in MLW.

An Apolocalypto match is a Texas Tornado match with weapons. A steel chair was used early on by Hammerstone while Taurus hit Pagano with a garbage can lid. On the outside, Taurus speared Pagano over the guardrail and into the front row. Hammerstone and Muertes joined them, knocking the full guardrail down in the process and continuing to barrage straight into fans and bystanders.

Taurus whipped Hammerstone with a camera cable while Muertes suplexed Pagano on the entrance stage. Hammerstone hit a pump kick to Taurus in front of the commentary table as the ringside brawling chaos continued.

After the break, weapons were strayed around the ring as Taurus and Muertes seemed in firm control. Cookie sheets, trash cans and a chair were all used before Muertes and Pagano were left nose-to-nose in the ring.

The heavyweight Muertes hit a spinning headscissors takedown before hitting a spear for a near fall. Hammerstone came in and hit a torture rack TKO onto a garbage can for a two count.

Hammerstone’s team looked in control as he backdropped Taurus through a massive wooden floorboard in the corner of the ring, Pagano hit Muertes with a blockbuster before hitting Taurus with a one-armed running powerslam on a chair. They both hit poor Taurus with a power bomb/top rope clothesline combination.

It was Muertes’ turn to take some offense as Hammerstone hit a German suplex and a power bomb as Pagano took to the air and took out Taurus on the outside with a rolling dive before putting him through another wooden board.

Inside the ring, Muertes was hit with a Nightmare Pendulum from Hammerstone which was the end as the MLW champion picked up the win for his team.

Duran appeared on the ramp to get Hammerstone’s attention, motionining with the cutthroat gesture. Hammerstone turned around, only to be smacked in the face by his tag partner Pagano. A three-on-one beatdown then ensued as the luchas stomped the champion.

Since Holliday was taken away by Tijuana “police” earlier in the night, that left Hammerstone alone to be beaten down. Duran’s masked assailants then carried Hammerstone out of the ringside area as MLW Azteca went off the air.

Next week:

– MLW National Openweight Champion Alex Kane vs. Aerostar title match

– MLW Tag Team champions 5150 vs. TBA title match

– Bestia 666 in action

MLW, Crash Lucha Libre announce co-promoted December tapings

MLW will have one more show before the end of 2021 as they announced a co-promoted event with The Crash Lucha Libre on Friday, December 3rd in Tijuana, Mexico.

From the MLW side, they are branding their group as MLW Azteca. This is expected to be the next progression of the Azteca Underground storyline that has been discussed since they brought in Cesar Duran, the former Dario Cueto in Lucha Underground.

No matches or talent were announced for the show, but it’s expected that new signees Arez, Aramis and King Muertes will be part of it. Tickets are on sale and it will be held at Auditorio Fausto Gutierrez. It will also act as a TV taping for episodes of MLW Fusion: Alpha.

The two sides worked together in October 2019 when they held a co-promoted show in the same city and venue. MLW and AAA then held a co-promoted Super Series event in March 2020 right as the pandemic was starting to result in travel shutdowns. On both events, it was MLW talent against the other promotion’s talent.

MLW Fusion results and video: CONTRA vs. Promociones Dorado

Big Takeaways —

  • LA Park got one over on CONTRA Unit when he speared and pinned Josef Samael in the main event six-man tag.
  • Low Ki vs. Brian Pillman Jr. was made official for Saturday Night SuperFight, and Bestia 666 was added to the Stairway to Hell match between Mance Warner and Jimmy Havoc.

  • Terror Azteca picked up the win in a special featured Crash Lucha Libre tag team match.

The full episode is available to watch below:

Full Recap —

CONTRA Unit opened up this week’s episode of Fusion with another of their propaganda videos. Josef Samael said that Promociones Dorado was looking for another member to fight tonight as El Hijo de LA Park was injured last week in the Tijuana Street Fight. MLW Champion Jacob Fatu said that his match with LA Park won’t be a “superfight…it will be a “f*cking massacre.”

MLW is still south of the border in Tijuana, Mexico, with The Crash Lucha Libre. AJ Kirsch and Rich Bocchini welcomed us as The Hart Foundation were making their entrance for their match.

The Hart Foundation (Brian Pillman Jr. & Davey Boy Smith Jr.) defeated Dragon Lee & Extreme Tiger (12:31)

This was a good little tag team opener here. The match got a good amount of time and told a nice story between the bigger Harts and the smaller and quicker Lee and Tiger. A miscommunication on a dive gave the Hart Foundation the 2-on-1 advantage and they finished Tiger off with a modified Hart Attack.

As Lee and Tiger were making their entrance, we heard that Pillman vs. Low Ki has been booked for Superfight next weekend. Pillman mocked Lee’s brother Rush with a Tranquilo pose at the start. Lee responded with one of his own after a swift early exchange between the two. Smith and Tiger then tagged in and had a brief chop battle that Smith, being the much larger of the two, got the better of. He then offered a handshake, which Tiger accepted, but Smith turned nasty and grabbed him, launching him across the ring with an overhead belly to belly as Pillman also ran and knocked Lee off the apron.

The Harts then took control using Smith’s power against his smaller opponents. The Foundation were also taunting the crowd as they tagged in and out and kept Tiger isolated. Pillman was able to fight back from a brief explosion of chops, and Smith showed his strength again, this time with a gut wrench suplex and a powerslam.

Tiger eventually saw an opportunity to fight back and boy, did he take it. He hit a step up kick to Pillman and then launched himself off the top rope and landed on Pillman with a seated senton directly in the groin. Lee got the hot tag and ran wild. He hit Smith with a single leg dropkick from the outside in and hit Pillman with a snap German. After a chop battle with Pillman, he ate a superkick but retaliated with a ripcord knee and a running knee after kicking out of a package suplex driver.

Lee took out Pillman with a headfirst suicide dive through the ropes, but then while holding Pillman for Tiger to hit him with one of his own, Pillman slipped out and Tiger took out his partner.

Smith then gorilla pressed Tiger back inside and set him up in the Hart Attack for Pillman to hit a springboard clothesline. Smith then picked up the win for his team with the jackknife cover.

— Bestia 666 was officially added to the Stairway to Hell match at Superfight so it is now a three-way between him, Mance Warner, and Jimmy Havoc.

— Salina de la Renta then had a recorded message for CONTRA. She said she is the law and the constant in MLW. She said Promociones Dorado are taking back the MLW world title, and regarding the “war” between CONTRA and PD, she said, “the sh*t is on”. She added that LA Park will hang Fatu from the phone wires outside Cicero Stadium and told them to prepare to bow down and kiss her ring.

— LA Park then had a simple message for CONTRA after they took out his son last week: he is going to break their f*cking faces.

— Lifestyles of the Rich and Dynastic was next. They are still celebrating being back in the USA. Holliday wanted to rub disinfectant on his hands before putting his Louis Vuitton air pods back in, because “he was just in Mexico, of course!” While Hammerstone and MJF were having a drink and talking about how Hammerstone brought his Mexican pharmacy purchases back with him and didn’t get caught. They proposed a toast to winning, to America, and the Dynasty.

— The Von Erichs then had a message in response to the Dynasty. They questioned their partying and threatened a Superfight hangover once they were done with them next week.

— H2tv showed highlights of the Hart Foundation at a fan meet and greet in Mexico.

Terror Azteca & Proximo defeated Torito Negro & Toto (2:52)

This was a very quick Lucha rules tag match, mostly due to the Superfight commercial break in the middle of it. I assume this lasted longer live. When we came back from the break, Toto was dumped on the outside by Proximo who then climbed to the top turnbuckle and hit him with a splash off the top rope to the floor.

In the ring, Azteca hit a missile dropkick on Torito and then hit him with a running twisting headscissors spike for the win with a very quick three count from the referee.

— Another video package for Jacob Fatu and LA Park aired, this time from the stance of Salina de la Renta and Promociones Dorado.

Promociones Dorado (LA Park, Bestia 666 & Mecha Wolf) defeated CONTRA Unit (Josef Samael, Ikuro Kwon & Simon Gotch) (15:51)

LA Park was the big star here as the Mexican fans had to wait all night to see the legend in action in the main event of the Tijuana tapings. He did not let them down and took out the remaining members of CONTRA on his way to his battle with MLW Champion Jacob Fatu next week.

A huge six-way brawl opened things up, but CONTRA were quick to take control. Gotch and Bestia, along with Wolf and Kwon, were on the outside as Samael beat down LA with fists and headbutts. Bestia 666 and Mecha Wolf are The Crash tag team champions but they didn’t fair too well in the opening sequences as CONTRA were in complete control.

They all got back into the ring and it wasn’t long before Bestia, Kwon, and then Mecha Wolf all hit dives to the outside with Wolf nearly spearing Kwon through the guardrail and into the front row. Gotch came off the apron with a clothesline, but then, to the absolute delight of the Mexican crowd, the incredible LA Park came off the top rope with a crossbody to the floor on top of everybody!

The hometown favorites then took control with chair shots on the outside. Inside, Bestia hit a doomsday clothesline on Kwon and took out Gotch with a soccer kick to the face.

After 10 minutes of all-out action, the match settled into a traditional tag match with partners on the apron. LA knocked Samael out with a running pair of basement knees but Samael kicked out on instinct. Samael fought back with a DDT for a two count of his own. The traditional tag rules were out the window two minutes later. Bestia and Wolf hit Kwon and Gotch with superkicks and then Wolf took out Gotch with another bullet-like flying headfirst suicide dive.

We then had a quick conveyor belt of a big move/pin/next one in to make the save. Bestia hit his muscle buster on Kwon, who was quickly followed by Wolf with a 450 but Gotch made the save for his team. Gotch hit Bestia with a ripcord big boot and a brainbuster, but LA made the save. LA then took out Gotch with a basement dropkick, but Samael came back in and took out LA.

Bestia and Gotch then had a staredown that ended in a musclebuster from Bestia, but when Wolf went for his 450 again, Kwon sprayed red mist in his eyes. Samael then threw a fireball at Bestia but turned straight into a spear from LA Park for the #1 contender to pick up the win.

Next Week —

  • Saturday Night SuperFight airs live on PPV. There will also be a one-hour pre-show airing for free on beIN Sports, MLW’s YouTube channel, Fite TV, inDemand, DirectTV, and Dish starting at 7 p.m. Eastern time.

MLW Fusion results: Two title matches in Tijuana

Big Takeaways —

  • MJF & Richard Holliday defeated LA Park Jr. & El Hijo de LA Park to retain their MLW Tag Team titles.
  • The Crash Heavyweight Champion Rey Horus defeated MLW National Openweight Champion Alexander Hammerstone by DQ.
  • Jimmy Havoc will be in charge next week as he presents “Jimmy Havoc’s Slaughterhouse,” with two matches booked so far.
  • Oraculo defeated Black Danger and Ricky Marvin.

Full Recap —

MLW Fusion was in Mexico this week — the Auditorio Fausto Gutierrez Moreno in Tijuana to be precise. This was a collaborative show with one of their newest partners: The Crash Lucha Libre. AJ Kirsch was also debuting on commentary alongside Rich Bocchini.

Fusion opened with a video from this past Friday. Salina de la Renta bumped into The Dynasty outside the arena. MJF, Richard Holliday, and Alexander Hammerstone were bad-mouthing Mexico and luchadores, saying all the wrestling in Mexico is terrible and all luchadores are ugly (that’s why they wear masks).

De la Renta then called out Holliday saying his father/lawyer stopped a scheduled match between The Von Erichs and The Dynasty, so she challenged them to face Los Parks tonight instead. Before MJF or Holliday could make up another excuse, Hammerstone jumped in and accepted on their behalf.

Oraculo defeated Black Danger and Ricky Marvin in a three-way match (6:23)

All three seemed to come out to the Karate Kid theme “You’re the Best,” which gave this a bonus point from me.

Danger and Marvin double-teamed Oraculo early, with Marvin hitting a step-up kick and a DDT. Oraculo fought back on the outside and had a brief chop battle with Danger, but Marvin was soon back to regain the numbers advantage.

Marvin accidentally rocked Danger with a flying kick when Oraculo dodged the incoming attack. Oraculo rallied with a springboard Ace Crusher, a flying headscissors takedown, and an Asai moonsault to the floor. But he wasn’t done. Back inside, he hit a springboard hurricanrana on Marvin for a two count.

Marvin and Danger’s alliance disintegrated as Marvin took over control. He attacked the knees of both his opponents and then flattened Oraculo with a spinning cutter.

Danger hit a double underhook piledriver on Oraculo, but somehow Oraculo rallied moments later with a Canadian Destroyer and then caught Marvin coming off the top with a kick to the head.

Oraculo then hit a poison rana on Danger and finished him off with a 450 splash for the win.

– Kaci Lennox was backstage with Brian Pillman Jr. and Low Ki. Ki was talking to Pillman about his emotions and said that is why Pillman failed against Austin Aries last week. He said what Pillman has got himself into isn’t checkers, it’s chess. Pillman stormed off telling Ki he knows nothing about him.

– MLW cameras caught up with The Dynasty again. This time it was from earlier in the day and they explained why they were not wearing their suits. Holliday: “the poverty line would be lined around the corner trying to get some money from us.” MJF: “I don’t want to get stabbed… It’s Tijuana!”

They then heavily implied that Hammerstone had just bought steroids — legally — from the pharmacy, shouting “I can never have enough!” when MJF told him he had enough already.

– De la Renta then had some words for Jacob Fatu. She said both Fatu and LA Park were undefeated but it would be Park who will take Fatu’s MLW World Heavyweight Championship when they meet at Saturday Night SuperFight on November 2.

Josef Samael interrupted and said she has intelligence, beauty, and she craves power, before offering her a spot in CONTRA. De la Renta considered but chose violence instead. Speaking of violence, in walked Jimmy Havoc — who is the executive producer of next week’s MLW Fusion “because of Halloween or some bollocks like that.”

Havoc booked a Tijuana street fight between a member of CONTRA and a member of Promociones Dorado. Samael picked himself, and de la Renta told him she has “the right person for him.”

The Crash Heavyweight Champion Rey Horus defeated MLW National Openweight Champion Alexander Hammerstone by DQ in a title vs. title match (13:34)

The Dynasty caused the DQ in this great little match when it looked like Horus was moments away from walking away with both belts.

Hammerstone ordered MJF and Holliday to the back before he started overpowering Horus in the early going. On commentary, AJ Kirsch said Hammerstone was built like a “Shick Brithouse” moments before Hammerstone hit a stalling pumphandle fallaway slam.

On the outside, Hammerstone dropped Horus face-first on the ring apron but took too much time getting back into the ring and ate a suicide dive for his troubles. Horus then hit a leg drop from the middle rope for a close two count.

But — moments later — Hammerstone nearly took Horus’ head off with a huge lariat that turned the Crash Heavyweight Champion inside out.

Horus kept fighting. He fought out of a stalling suplex and then baited Hammerstone in as he toppled to the floor. Horus then brought the crowd alive again with an amazing somersault plancha over the corner ring post right down on top of Hammerstone. He then hit a slingshot splash and a high crossbody off the top for a close two count.

Horus went up top again for his 450 splash, but Hammerstone caught him and slammed him off the top. In very quick succession, Hammerstone hit a bicycle kick, a German suplex, and a sit-out powerbomb for another very close near fall.

Hammerstone missed a spear in the corner and ate a step-up kick. Horus then hit a springboard DDT for a two count. He shoved the ref for the apparent slow count, and as they were jaw jacking in the corner, Hammerstone came charging and squashed the ref by accident.

Hammerstone then got the visual three count after he hit a big boot and The Burning Hammer — a reverse/face-first Death Valley Driver — but the referee was still down. Hammerstone then realized the ref was down and brought a chair into the ring and clobbered Horus over the head with it. The referee groggily counted a slow one…two… but Horus got his shoulder up at the last minute.

Horus reversed a powerbomb into a Code Red for another close two, then KO’ed Hammerstone with a drop toe hold into the chair. He went up top and hit his 450 splash, but MJF and Holliday had run down to ringside. They dragged Horus out of the ring and put the boots to him for the disqualification.

– Video packages for Jimmy Havoc’s Slaughterhouse next week and Gino Medina’s upcoming debut later this fall aired before MLW hyped up the Saturday Night SuperFight matches for their PPV on November 2.

MLW Tag Team Champions The Dynasty (MJF & Richard Holliday) defeated Los Parks (LA Park Jr. & El Hijo de LA Park) w/ Salina de la Renta to retain their titles (8:54)

A good lucha rules tag match was this week’s main event, but the finish seemed rushed as it came out of nowhere.

MJF got on the mic before the match and had tremendous heat without saying a word. He told the Mexican crowd that he couldn’t wait until Donald Trump built the wall. Hijo then came back at them in Spanish to the delight of the crowd.

Hijo hit a backstabber on Holliday before he and his brother steamrolled Holliday in the corner with forearms and dropkicks one after another.

The Dynasty then took control for the majority of the match. They wore down Hijo with armbars and chinlocks. Holliday beat him down before MJF came in for an eye poke, a double suplex, a double Ric Flair strut, and a high-fiving tandem elbow drop.

The Dynasty were gyrating in front of de la Renta too long as Hijo was able to crawl and tag in his brother, LA Park Jr., who ran wild on the tag champs. He kicked MJF out of the ring, and with a little help from Hijo, basement dropkicked Holliday in the mouth. MJF then broke up a pin after a big splash.

The Parks’ double-teaming continued with a Samoan drop/rolling neckbreaker combo. The Dynasty were outside taking a breather when the Parks hit them with a pair of suicide dives.

But MJF tripped LA Park Jr. coming back into the ring, slamming him face-first on the apron and then head-first into the guardrail, while Holliday kicked the ropes low on Hijo behind the referee’s back. Holliday then hit The Market Crash — a gut-wrench powerbomb — onto Hijo and picked up the win out of nowhere with an MJF-assisted jackknife cover.

Next Week —

Jimmy Havoc is in charge as he presents “Jimmy Havoc’s Slaughterhouse.”

  • Jimmy Havoc vs. Damian 666 vs. Savio Vega
  • Josef Samael vs. ??? (from Promociones Dorado)

MLW, The Crash to co-promote October 5th show in Mexico

Several weeks after announcing a partnership with The Crash Lucha Libre, Major League Wrestling announced their first co-promoted show with the Mexican wrestling company Friday morning.

The Saturday, October 5th event will be held at the 5000-seat Auditorio Fausto Gutierrez in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, with tickets going on sale this September. The joint press release mentioned they are looking into travel packages.

The show will also be taped for episodes of Fusion, MLW’s weekly TV show.

With the announcement, MLW rounded out their schedule for the duration of 2019 with one big event per month. September will see War Chamber (their version of WarGames) in Dallas, TX; the Saturday Night Superfight pay-per-view in Chicago, IL, in November, and December’s Opera Cup in New York City.

The Crash next runs on September 7th in Tijuana with several NXT UK talents (Trent Seven, Tyler Bate, Travis Banks) and Ricky Martinez, an MLW talent working in Crash as part of their new agreement.

MLW announces partnership with The Crash Lucha Libre

MLW has announced a working agreement with another international promotion.

During this week’s MLW Fusion episode, it was announced that MLW is partnering with The Crash Lucha Libre. A video aired revealing the news, with it being noted that the strategic partnership will include talent exchanges and content collaboration.

The Crash is located in Tijuana, Mexico. This is the second international partnership that MLW has announced over the past month. In July, it was revealed that MLW is partnering with Pro Wrestling NOAH. Their relationship will also include a talent-exchange agreement and collaboration between the promotions.

The partnership with NOAH will see MLW National Openweight Champion Alexander Hammerstone head to Japan to take part in NOAH’s N-1 Victory tournament. It will begin next Sunday (August 18) and conclude on September 16. Hammerstone is part of the A Block, which also includes Naomichi Marufuji, Takashi Sugiura, Go Shiozaki, and Masa Kitamiya.

The Crash Lucha Libre announces Konnan no longer with company

Crash Lucha Libre based in Tijuana announced today that booker Charles “Konnan” Ashenoff is no longer with the promotion.

Rumors had started about two weeks ago coming off the conclusion of a tour around Mexico that saw some small crowds and canceled shows.

The promotion released a statement saying, “The Crash Lucha Libre brand is known for the way we treat people and value each and every single person that works in this company. Bettering the economical and habitual needs. Showing the support for each element and giving opportunity to new talent. In this way, the value and professionalism shown between each of its partners. Not being able to comply to the Crash Lucha Libre code of ethic is something we do not tolerate in this company. With that being said, we now announce that Carlos Santiago Espada, ‘Konnan,’ will be longer be working with The Crash.”

The departure of Ashenoff leads to a lot of questions since he booked all the talent, from the company’s strong undercard to the American independent talent. While Crash had garnered a reputation for having the best live shows in Mexico, they had struggled to draw in many markets with no television.

He had been working as of midweek on future dates. Also, it is mostly The Crash roster that is booked for Arolucha, which he is booking for Ron & Don Harris for a show on December 10th in Nashville with the attempt to get television in the United States.

Another key is that Konnan is tight with Rey Mysterio Jr., who is the biggest star with The Crash.

In an interesting political move, AAA team set for Slammiversary

In an interesting political move, Impact Wrestling will have members of warring Mexican promotions in the same tag team title match.

The company today announced for Sunday’s Slammiversary pay-per-view from Orlando, that LAX would defend the Impact tag titles in a four-way match. One team announced today is Drago & El Hijo del Fantasma, who both work for AAA, the very heated rival promotion of The Crash, which Konnan, who heads the LAX group, is the booker of.

Drago’s name had been bandied about since Konnan brought it up on his podcast.

At first, when Impact opened up a working relationship with AAA after already doing so with The Crash, a very unique political situation, the idea was that the talent from the two companies would never interact, but obviously that has changed. In Mexico, neither promotion allows its talent to appear on a show with anyone from the other promotion. In the U.K., there was a situation where AAA pulled a power play to force Pentagon Jr. off a show because that show was using rival talent.

Another note is that Drago and Fantasma (who is King Cuerno in LU) are both under contract to Lucha Underground exclusively for U.S. television, meaning Lucha Underground for the first time is allowing its talent to appear for another wrestling promotion on television.
