New match announced for WWE Raw

Penta says he will defend his Intercontinental Championship against Rey Mysterio on Monday’s edition of WWE Raw.

Mysterio earned the right to challenge for the Intercontinental title on the May 25 edition of the show, defeating Rusev in singles competition.

On Saturday, Penta posted to Instagram that the match will take place on the June 8 Raw and called it the most meaningful match of his career.

Penta wrote:

“THIS MONDAY NIGHT LIVE FROM PARIS!!! 🇫🇷
To face @619iamlucha for the WWE Intercontinental Championship is what dreams are made of!!! The most meaningful match of my career happens this Monday on RAW, LIVE FROM PARIS!
Rey: Un honor y un sueño poder enfrentarte por mi campeonato. Te veo en Paris con mucho respeto, y ZERO MIEDO!!!! 🔥🔥🔥”

The June 8, 2026 edition of WWE Raw is scheduled for the Accor Arena in Paris, France. The updated lineup for the show is below:

WWE Raw lineup for Monday, June 8, 2026:

  • King of the Ring first-round match: Seth Rollins vs. Je’Von Evans vs. Talla Tonga vs. Ricky Saints
  • Queen of the Ring first-round match: Liv Morgan vs. Becky Lynch vs. Alexa Bliss vs. Chelsea Green
  • Intercontinental Championship: Penta (c) vs. Rey Mysterio

Rey Mysterio earns WWE Intercontinental Championship match on Raw

Rey Mysterio has a lot on his plate these days. Outside the ring, he’s going to a major onscreen character in Mexico. And inside the ring, he’s still in major championship contention.

Over the weekend, Mysterio was named the new General Manager in AAA. Just a few days later, on Monday Night Raw, he earned a shot at the WWE Intercontinental Championship.

Mysterio defeated Rusev to win the IC title shot. He hung Rusev in the ropes and attempted a 619, but Rusev caught the swinging kick and dragged Mysterio to the middle of the ring to apply the accolade. Mysterio slipped out of the submission hold and hooked a schoolboy for the win.

Afterwards, Mysterio was attacked by Rusev and Ethan Page. Dragon Lee hit the ring to even the odds, and the babyfaces sent the heels packing.

Penta is the reigning Intercontinental Champion. He won the belt from Rey’s son Dominik Mysterio at Survivor Series: War Games last November, and most recently defended it against Je’Von Evans tonight on Monday Night Raw.

The elder Mysterio is a two-time former Intercontintal champion himself. He first won the title from John “Bradshaw” Layfield at WrestleMania 25 in 2009. (To date, this remains JBL’s last singles match.) He lost the title to Chris Jericho at Extreme Rules in June that same year, then beat Jericho to win it back in a mask vs. title match The Bash later that month.

He eventually lost the championship to John Morrison on SmackDown the following September.

He has unsuccessfully challenged for the title several times since then, most recently in a six-man ladder match at WrestleMania 42. Penta walked in and out of that match as champion. JD McDonagh, Rusev, Dragon Lee, and Evans were the other combatants in the match.

Intercontinental title match added to WWE Raw

Fresh off a successful defense at Saturday Night’s Main Event, Penta is already set to defend his Intercontinental Championship again.

WWE has announced that Penta vs. Je’Von Evans for the Intercontinental title will take place on tonight’s episode of Raw from Columbus, Ohio. The match comes just two days after Penta retained over Ethan Page on SNME.

“Intercontinental Champion Penta continues to build his reputation as a true fighting champion as he prepares to battle the dynamic Je’Von Evans in a title match,” WWE.com wrote. “Find out who will leave Raw with the title, tonight at 8 ET/5 PT on Netflix.”

Evans is looking to win the first championship gold of his WWE career. He previously challenged for the Intercontinental title at WrestleMania 42, where Penta won a six-pack ladder match to remain champion.

Having won the belt from Dominik Mysterio back in March, Penta’s IC Championship reign is approaching the three-month mark. It currently stands at 84 days.

Tonight’s Raw is the go-home show for this Sunday’s Clash in Italy PLE. Here is the updated lineup for the episode.

WWE Raw (Monday, May 25) —

  • World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns and Jacob Fatu contract signing for Clash in Italy Tribal Combat match
  • Bayley & Lyra Valkyria vs. Judgment Day (Raquel Rodriguez & Roxanne Perez)
  • Intercontinental Champion Penta defends against Je’Von Evans
  • Oba Femi opens the show

Main roster stars announced for WWE NXT dates

Main roster stars are heading to NXT.

During Tuesday’s show, it was revealed that Bayley, Penta, and Grayson Waller would be appearing at this weekend’s NXT live events. This includes:

  • May 15 in Buffalo, New York
  • May 16 in Canton, Ohio
  • May 17 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania

Where the three currently stand in WWE

Penta is the current Intercontinental Champion and has been appearing on Raw following WrestleMania, feuding with new NXT callup Ethan Page. The two will meet at the next Saturday Night’s Main Event later this month.

Since WrestleMania, Bayley has mainly kept a low profile on main roster television. She made an appearance this past weekend on AAA’s television, helping La Catalina and Lola Vice against Las Toxicas. She was one of NXT’s biggest stars during her run on the brand.

Grayson Waller has been directionless since it was announced earlier this month that The New Day had departed WWE. Prior to their release, Waller had been teasing dissension with the group, annoyed that Kofi had been talking to Je’Von Evans in what looked like a mentor role.

First two matches announced for next WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event

Two matches are already announced for the next Saturday Night’s Main Event.

WWE’s next Saturday special will take place in Fort Wayne, Indiana on May 23. On Raw, two title matches were announced, with The Vision set to defend the World Tag Team titles against The Street Profits. Meanwhile, the Intercontinental title will also be on the line when Penta defends against Ethan Page.

The Street Profits have been a thorn on Austin Theory and Logan Paul’s side ever since they returned on the Raw following WrestleMania. The two teams met face-to-face in the opening segment of Raw, with Montez Ford saying they were coming after the titles. After Joe Hendry came out and sang his ‘Fire Logan Paul’ song, he and the Street Profits went on to beat Bron Breakker, Paul, and Theory after Seth Rollins ran in and laid out Bron Breakker, causing a distraction and allowing Angelo Dawkins to pin Theory with a schoolboy.

Later in the night, Penta arrived and said if Ethan Page wanted a title match, he should say it to his face. Page came out and said that since he pinned Penta last week, he should get a title match. Penta offered to defend the title right then and there, but Page said he wasn’t ready and challenged Penta to a match for Saturday Night’s Main Event instead. Penta accepted, saying he was ready for war.

WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event (May 23)

  • WWE Intercontinental Champion Penta defends against Ethan Page
  • World Tag Team Champions The Vision defend against Street Profits

Rusev cuts social media promo on Penta ahead of WWE Raw Intercontinental title match

Rusev will be challenging Penta for the WWE Intercontinental Championship tonight on WWE RAW, and he cut a promo on social media ahead of the match hyping the bout.

“It’s a happy day at the Rusev household. Just got the word that tomorrow night, Monday Night Raw, Penta vs Rusev is happening. Finally, finally, finally I’m gonna get my hands one-on-one on Penta. No other five fools trying to jump around from ladders, trying to get between me and my title.

“And I know, I know, I’m not taking Penta lightly. I know about all his fancy tricks, but Rusev is big, Rusev is strong and Rusev is mean, and he’s pissed off. I’m not fighting for another house, for another car, I’m fighting for the thing that matters the most to me, and that is the WWE Intercontinental Title, because I want to go home as a champion. I want to represent my people, my fans, as a champion. They expect it from me and I am going to deliver it for them. So tomorrow night… Rusev crush.”

BVV: Reviewing Penta vs. Vikingo for WWE Intercontinental title from AAA TV

It was a big week in AAA: a big debut, a big match, and the biggest announcement since the company was purchased by WWE.

The debut was by La Catalina, who appeared on both WWE Raw and NXT years ago and has now jumped from CMLL to challenge Flammer for the Reina de Reinas Championship.

The big match saw Penta defend his WWE Intercontinental Championship against Vikingo.

And the big announcement saw El Grande Americano challenge Original Grande Americano to a mascara contra mascara match that will probably be AAA’s biggest match of the year.

Say his name at WWE WrestleMania 42? How Joe Hendry could be included next weekend | Column

Joe Hendry had everyone singing his entrance song before he even stepped foot in WWE.

After two months, he lost the NXT Championship at Stand & Deliver on April 12 in a fatal four-way match to Tony D’Angelo. If history is any indication, a popular talent losing a title so close to a PLE suggests a main roster move. But in Hendry’s case, it could set the stage for another WrestleMania moment.

Last year, Hendry was Randy Orton’s mystery opponent at WrestleMania 41 after Kevin Owens announced he needed to undergo a neck surgery in April 2025, pulling him from the match.

Here’s a few ways Joe Hendry could make his presence felt at WrestleMania 42:

A last minute addition to the Intercontinental title match

On the March 30 edition of Raw, Penta announced a ladder match at WrestleMania 42 for his Intercontinental Championship. Shortly after, WWE confirmed Je’Von Evans, Rusev and JD McDonagh as challengers. This week, Rey Mysterio returned and confirmed his participation in the bout.

Given Hendry’s popularity among the fanbase, he could easily be announced as a surprise addition. Even without a win, Hendry’s participation would be sufficient enough to re-introduce himself with the main roster audience on WWE’s biggest stage.

A surprise opponent for The Miz

At Saturday Night’s Main Event last December, R-Truth confronted The Miz and blamed him for stealing another wrestler’s spot in The Last Time Is Now tournament. He handed Miz a piece of paper with the correct participant’s name on it — Hendry, who appeared as soon as his name was said aloud.

A frustrated Miz lashed out at Hendry who dodged his strike. He teamed up with R-Truth for a comedic tribute to John Cena, using his signature “You can’t see me” taunt followed by a Standing Ovation by Hendry. It was not an official match, but Hendry pinned The Miz as Truth counted the fall.

In line with their brief encounter, WWE could promote The Miz for a match at WrestleMania 42. Whether pre-planned on SmackDown in a comedic altercation or directly at the PLE, a rematch of sorts between the two could lead to a showdown.

Involvement in the Sami Zayn vs. Trick Williams United States title match

Zayn captured the United States Championship from Carmelo Hayes last month and is now set to defend against Trick Williams at WrestleMania. Hendry and Williams have history from NXT, most particularly associated with their TNA crossover feuds. At NXT Battleground in 2025, Williams defeated Hendry for the TNA World Championship.

Hendry’s interference in his first-ever WrestleMania match, potentially costing him the win, would immediately set up his first major SmackDown feud.

John Cena gives him a passing-of-the-torch moment

Cena is scheduled to host WrestleMania 42 and has consistently shown appreciation for emerging talent in WWE.

Hendry once revealed he bumped into Cena backstage soon after he won the undisputed WWE Title at WrestleMania 41. Cena praised Hendry’s performances at the Royal Rumble and last year’s Mania match against Randy Orton, later labeling Hendry as a “brilliant talent who is going to be a major player” during a Pat McAfee Show appearance.

WrestleMania 41 could provide the perfect stage for an interaction between the two, either backstage or in the ring, with Cena officially giving Hendry his stamp of approval and possibly welcoming him to the main roster.

Final thoughts

Joe Hendry has proven his ability to captivate audiences with his charisma, music and in-ring presence. With all eyes on WrestleMania 42 and his previous track record at the PLE, it would be a great spot for his official main roster transition. Even if it’s not an immediate shift, his presence alone would make for another memorable WrestleMania moment.

Rey Mysterio added to WWE WrestleMania 42 ladder match

The five-man ladder match at WrestleMania 42 now has a sixth man: Rey Mysterio.

The announcement was made on Monday Night Raw. After Penta & Dragon Lee & Je’Von Evans teamed up to defeat Los Americanos in a trios match (Evans pinned Bravo with the OG cutter), Mysterio interrupted their celebration.

Going back and forth between English and Spanish, Mysterio congratulated Penta on his Intercontinental Championship reign. He noted that their match at Mania might be one of the best ladder matches in history.

“But last year, I missed WrestleMania due to an injury,” he continued. “This year, I just spoke to Adam Pearce, and we both agreed on one thing: This ladder match at WrestleMania is missing one more person. It’s missing Rey Mysterio.”

Penta welcomed Mysterio to the match, saying “let’s make history” and shouting his catchphrase.

Your updated Mania card after the events of Monday Night Raw:

Six-man tag match added to WWE Raw

A six-man tag match is the latest addition to the WWE Raw lineup for tonight.

WWE has announced that Penta, Dragon Lee & Je’Von Evans will team up for a match against El Grande Americano, Rayo Americano & Bravo Americano on Raw. The match was made after Americano (Ludwig Kaiser) cut a social media promo complaining about not being part of the Intercontinental title ladder match at WrestleMania.

The WrestleMania ladder match is currently a five-way bout with Penta defending against Dragon Lee, Evans, JD McDonagh, and Rusev. It remains to be seen whether any other participants will be added.

Raw is in Houston with tonight’s show taking place at the Toyota Center. It’s the second-to-last episode before WrestleMania.

Here is the announced lineup:

WWE Raw (Monday, April 6) —

  • CM Punk appears
  • Brock Lesnar & Oba Femi appear

Rusev addresses upcoming WWE WrestleMania 42 ladder match

Rusev is aware of the concerns surrounding his lack of experience with ladder matches and cautioned his WrestleMania 42 opponents.

Rusev took to Instagram with a message for his opponents in the high-stakes match. He acknowledged reservations about his participation in the stipulation match and is determined to prove everyone wrong.

“Ladder match at WrestleMania. All week I keep hearing how “This is not Rusev’s type of match”. How my power fears their speed. I’m not afraid of my opponents, I’m afraid for my opponents.”

“It’s kinda hard to climb anything with a broken back, so I will handle the ground warfare and I will catch them from the sky one by one. I may not fly like those guys, but I’ve been climbing ladders my entire life. When I left my home country Bulgaria, when I slept in my car, when I broke my neck, or when I rode a freakin’ tank into WrestleMania.”

“So this is kind of a poetic moment, ladder match, WrestleMania. This lone soldier (statue) behind me reminds me of me. Just sitting on top of the world looking down on everybody else. And you know when it’s your time.”

“This is my time. This is my match. And at this WrestleMania, Rusev will have his day, and become the new WWE Intercontinental Champion.”

On the March 30 edition of Raw, Penta announced the ladder match for his Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 42. The bout will feature Je’Von Evans, JD McDonagh, Rusev and Penta. The last time a ladder match for the Intercontinental Title took place at WrestleMania was in 2016.

Rusev has a brief history competing in the stipulated match when he was a participant in the 2018 Money in the Bank signature bout.

IC title ladder match leads list of new WWE WrestleMania 42 matches

The WWE announced a bevy of new matches for WrestleMania tonight on Monday Night Raw.

The most prominent of those matches will see Penta defending the WWE Intercontinental Championship in a ladder match. After defending his title against Kofi Kingston, Penta himself announced the match in an in-ring promo. Later in the evening, Je’Von Evans, Rusev, Dragon Lee, and JD McDonagh were announced as competitors.

Finn Balor also announced his match for Mania. In a video package, Balor recapped how he took Dominik Mysterio under his wing in the Judgment Day, only for Mysterio to turn on him. He vowed to destroy Mysterio at Mania.

Finally, a four-way tag match for the Women’s Tag Team Championship was announced, with Lash Legend & Nia Jax defending the titles against Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss, the Bellas, and Lyra Valkyria & Bayley.

Earlier in the show, Gunther vs. Seth Rollins had been announced as well.

WrestleMania 42 takes place Saturday and Sunday, April 18 and 19, at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada. Tickets are available here.

From revenge quests to Attitude Era legends, who could be Gunther’s WrestleMania 42 opponent? | Opinion

His wrestling resume steadily growing after retiring John Cena and AJ Styles in back-to-back months, Gunther’s dominant streak has hit an abrupt halt since February.

He was not present for the past few episodes of Raw which has drawn concern from fans on what’s in store for him at WWE WrestleMania 42.

There were reports of him hoping to add Rey Mysterio to the list of star careers to end at his hands. However, Mysterio’s rib injury altered those plans.

Gunther has proven his spot among the top names of the WWE roster and it would be strange for him not to be part of WWE’s biggest shows of the year. So, let’s dive into a few fun potential opponents for the Ring General at The Grandest Stage of Them All.

Dragon Lee fulfills his revenge quest against Gunther

Dragon Lee remains one of the most compelling options based on his storyline with Gunther, In February, Gunther showed no remorse when he attacked Lee and refused to let go of a sleeper hold. Lee was left unconscious in the ring despite Adam Pearce swooping out security to control the situation.

At WrestleMania 42, the feud could come full circle if Lee stands up to Gunther and they battle it out in a rematch to settle the score once and for all.

Penta confronts Gunther and raises the stakes

If it’s not Lee, Intercontinental Champion Penta could face off against Gunther for what he did to his friend and ally instead.

While they have worked together on house shows, the two have never crossed paths on TV.

With Dominik Mysterio otherwise occupied with Finn Balor’s exit from the Judgment Day, a rematch between him and Penta for the IC Title at WrestleMania seems unlikely.

Penta could raise the stakes for a Gunther match by putting the Intercontinental title on the line against Gunther. After all, Gunther does hold the record as the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion for 666 days which could add a way to get to the match that makes sense.

Joe Hendry capitalizes on WrestleMania 41 momentum

After Kevin Owens was pulled from action due to serious neck surgery in April 2025, Randy Orton walked into WrestleMania 41 without knowing who would be his opponent.

Joe Hendry, then TNA World Champion, responded and got the shot against Orton, Despite the loss, the positive fan reaction helped his smooth transition to NXT.

Hendry became a viral star during his TNA tenure with this entrance song and the “Say his name and he appears” catchphrase of sorts. He competed on NXT since 2024 amid the brand’s crossover feud with TNA.

In November 2025, Hendry officially put pen to paper in a deal with WWE. After Oba Femi relinquished the NXT Championship for his move to the main roster, Hendry won a seven man ladder match in February to win the title.

Hendry could appear at WrestleMania 42 in a showdown against Gunther to sustain momentum from last year’s show, maybe in another mystery opponent presentation. This would also further sow the seeds for a potential main roster feud someday.

A “Stone Cold” Steve Austin standoff leads to Kevin Owens’ return

With Gunther targeting WWE legends to keep in line with his ‘career- iller’ persona, he could find himself standing opposite an icon from the Attitude Era, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin.

Earlier this month, Austin commented on a potential WrestleMania 42 appearance, citing an interest in attending the event while hyping the current talent on the WWE roster.

If Gunther attempts a feud with Austin, Kevin Owens could step up and stand toe-to-toe with Gunther. The reports on his recovery suggest a return sometime this year after recovering from his neck surgery in 2025. He has also been spotted at the WWE Performance Center, signaling positive progress in his recovery.

Even if it doesn’t lead to a full-fledged in-ring return, an Owens appearance at WrestleMania 42 would elevate the moment. His alliance with Austin is solidified after their impromptu match at WrestleMania 38 with Owens using the Stunner as his signature move.

If Owens has time, he would also have ample opportunity to reunite with Sami Zayn who is navigating a tough time on SmackDown.

The Rock might have more than CM Punk to worry about

The Rock might already have his hands full with CM Punk following his remark about Sika Anoa’i. It further fuels their history from a little more than 12 years ago.

Roman Reigns gave each member of his family free rein to take revenge on Punk for his comments. This statement was made after The Usos’ interference which begs the question: which other Anoa’i Family member might step up next?

The Rock’s schedule around WrestleMania is uncertain in light of his movie filming and Hollywood commitments.

However, if The Rock shows up at WrestleMania 42, Gunther might be tempted to provoke him into a match. After all, Gunther has built his reputation around retiring greats and what better name to add to that list than The Rock?

Final thoughts

It is a tough call for WWE to make while considering a worthy opponent for Gunther especially with WrestleMania being the battlefield. Whether it’s a returning legend or an unexpected name from the current roster, the match has the potential to shape his next chapter in WWE.

Either way, WrestleMania 42 remains the perfect stage for Gunther to continue defining his legacy. Perhaps we’ll find out on Monday’s Raw from Madison Square Garden who might help him get there.

WWE Raw wrestler responds to Penta’s Intercontinental title open challenge

Kofi Kingston has stepped up to answer Penta’s open challenge.

On Saturday, Penta posted on his Instagram Stories that he will hold an open challenge for his Intercontinental Championship on Monday’s WWE Raw from Madison Square Garden in New York.

On Sunday, Kingston responded to Penta, writing that he will see him on Monday.

Kingston wrote on X:

“No se diga mas, cabron. I would love nothing more than to walk into the depths of Hell (New York) and pry the Holy Grail (IC Title) from the vile grips of the Devil himself (Penta). See you tomorrow, amigo.”

The updated lineup for Monday’s show is below.

WWE Raw lineup for March 30, 2026:

Penta set to defend WWE Intercontinental title in AAA

Penta is now confirmed to defend his WWE Intercontinental Championship in AAA.

In the main-event segment of the AAA Rey de Reyes third week on Saturday, March 28, fans witnessed El Hijo del Vikingo address his loss against Dominik Mysterio, before calling out Penta.

Vikingo claimed that he had a new goal in mind and wanted Penta and his WWE Intercontinental Championship. Immediately, Penta would come out to the ring and confront Vikingo.

The two then engaged in a war of words before Penta accepted Vikingo’s title challenge. Penta is now scheduled to defend his WWE Intercontinental title at the upcoming AAA show in Mexico City on April 11. This will mark the first time the WWE Intercontinental title is defended in AAA.

The April 11 AAA show will also feature Lady Flammer’s longest-reigning Reina de Reinas championship celebration. She is now the longest-reigning Reina de Reinas champion in AAA’s history.
