AEW star Harley Cameron: Wrestling is my ‘dream job’

AEW star Harley Cameron is living her dream right now by getting to compete in the ring.

Cameron is thriving in her AEW role, improving her in-ring work and finding ways to incorporate her other talents like singing and ventriloquism. She told TV Insider in a new interview that, while she isn’t opposed to other entertainment opportunities, wrestling is her priority. If she were to pursue anything else, the timing would need to be right and it would need to be the correct fit.

“I will say my focus and heart is on wrestling. I definitely had companies in that field or area [shows like America’s Got Talent] proactively reach out to me. I just think it would have to be the right time, right situation because I’m currently living my dream job,” Cameron said.

“I think a lot of people don’t realize I get to do all the things I love at work. Tony Khan is amazing and gives me the opportunity to showcase the other things we do in entertainment on our show. I feel like I’m kind of getting to live my dream currently. Then again, if the right opportunity came out and made sense, I would be open to it in the future. But I’m very focused on wrestling right now.”

Cameron said she loves comedy, naming Jack Black and Martin Short as two stars whose work she enjoys.

Some people might view wrestling as a stepping stone, but it isn’t that way for Cameron because she feels like she has already had a “very fruitful” career outside of wrestling and is still allowed to do external projects. She thinks it’s cool that her talents are able to bring some new viewers to AEW.

“I will say just for privacy reasons I won’t say specifically who. I will say I did have a lot of people reach out with opportunities because they’ve seen the show,” Cameron responded when asked if she has had people reach out about non-wrestling entertainment opportunities. “You never know. Some of that might be evident in the future with the things I’m working on currently.

“But I think it’s fantastic because people have seen our show and reached out to me about other things. I just think how cool it is that my other walks of life, whether it’s the puppetry, the music, or the wrestling itself has brought a new audience in. Some people who have reached out to me haven’t been watching wrestling actively and saw a clip of me doing something performatively and started to go and see about AEW. I think it’s cool to see something pop off on the internet that might attract a new audience to wrestling, which I think is such a cool concept.”

Cameron & Willow Nightingale — known as the Babes of Wrath — are competing in the tournament to crown the first-ever AEW Women’s Tag Team Champions. They’re set to face Julia Hart & Skye Blue in a semifinal match on Dynamite this Wednesday.

**********

Thursday night brings thrills! Chills! Hot Wrestling Action! And also Satnam Singh will have a “match” here on Ring of Honor on Honorclub!

The show kicked off with Athena interrupting a Billie Starkz interview. The champ made an “apology” for picking Mercedes Mone as her tag team partner and she and Starkz tried to hug Lexy Nair, former minion.

ROH Women’s World Title Match: Athena (c) vs. Harley Cameron

Immediately following that, the Women’s World Title match kicked off with precious cargo Harley Cameron receiving a big ovation. Athena came to the ring alone with a graphic touting her current 69-0 record as Champion.

Cameron started off with a series of armdrags and shoulder blocks. Athena tried one of her own, but Cameron rolled through into a one-count. Cameron worked the arm of Athena and the two traded dropkicks until Cameron hit a side russian leg sweep for another one-count.

Athena racked Cameron’s neck on the ropes, followed by a side effect on the ring apron (the Aussiest part of the ring!). Athena started throwing punches into Cameron’s back, tossing her into the corner for some chops and a high foot to the throat.

Athena kicked Cameron in the chest and went for a cover, but only a two count. She fish hooked Cameron’s face and threw her into the corner, screaming that she was “nothing!” Athena landed a fierce punch out of the corner and Cameron seemed dazed.

Cameron fought back with some elbows to the gut of Athena, but lost the momentum when Athena put on a headlock. She missed on a senton, allowing Cameron to stack her for a two count. Athena picked up the speed after that, throwing Cameron’s head at the mat.

Cameron blocked a charge in the corner and splashed Athena, followed by a sling blade. She landed a shining wizard, but only got a two count as Athena kicked out. The two traded waistlocks and Athena hit a spingboard crossbody off the second rope.

Athena clubbed Cameron’s back on the ropes, but Cameron ducked back when she threw a knee and hit a Soul Food that sent Athena to the outside. Cameron threw Athena into the apron and the barricade before trying a suplex. Athena blocked it and grabbed Cameron, throwing her into the corner of the barricade and then the ringpost.

Athena threw Cameron back into the ring, but took a little took long working the crowd from the top rope. Cameron kicked her and the two traded punches. Cameron landed a superplex on Athena followed but a pumphandle back suplex for a two count.

Athena suffered a backstabber at the hands of Cameron and Cameron locked in an STF. Athena started biting Cameron’s arm, forcing her to break the hold. Athena twisted Cameron into a Koji clutch and Cameron tapped out, giving the 70th win to Athena.

Match Result: Athena defeated Harley Cameron

Killer match off the top! Cameron is a superstar waiting to break out and Athena is the best champion in wrestling. I’m really glad to see her back around the ROH halls.

Pure Rules Match: Billie Starkz vs. Katie Arquette

After a half-effort code of honor, the clock started and Arquette used her first and second rope breaks within the first thirty seconds. Starkz kept grabbing her in headlocks and pushing her into the ropes, forcing the breaks.

Arquette reversed a headlock next and Starkz pushed her into the ropes, meaning Starkz was charged a rope break at 1:36. Immediately after that, Starkz was given her only warning for a closed fist as she clocked Arquette square in the face.

Starkz appeared frustrated and started stomping Arquette. She whipped her into the corner and hit a falling DDT after that. Starkz went up top, but Arquette rolled out of the way. She planted Starkz with a headscissor and then a bronco buster in the corner.

Starkz raked the eyes and then hit a brainbuster on her own knee, but Arquette Kicked out. Starkz went up top for a diving swandive and that was it. Starkz got the victory with a quick pin.

Match Result: Billie Starkz defeated Katie Arquette

After the match, Deonna Purrazzo arrived at the toop of the ramp, crossing paths with Starkz who tried to give her a cheap shot. Purrazzo shrugged it off and Starkz slunk away.

Pure Rules Match: Deonna Purrazzo vs. Viva Van

Purrazzo reversed a waistlock off the top, but Van was able to knock her back right away. She hoisted Purrazzo up on her shoulders, but Purrazzo got free. The two traded moves until Purrazzo hit a big lariat to send Van to the mat.

Purrazzo tried a pile driver, but Van blocked it. The two traded forearms with Purrazzo transitioning into chops until Van hit a European uppercut followed by an axe kick to the back of the head. Van went up top, but Purrazzo got out of the way and threw a knee followed by a side Russian leg sweep and armbar. Van got to the ropes and used her first break at 2:51.

Van continued with the kicks to Purrazzo’s head, but Purrazzo responded with a powerbomb and another armbar in the center of the ring. Van had no choice but to tap and give the victory to Purrazzo.

Match Result: Deonna Purrazzo defeated. Viva Van

After the match, Billie Starkz returned and jumped Purrazzo from behind. She threw a spinning heel kick at Purrazzo’s head and stomped off, leaving Purrazzo out cold in the ring.

-Next, Persephone appeared backstage and called out Athena. She challenged her for Final Battle saying she was going to end Athena’s story.

Satnam Singh vs JP Grayson

OK, let’s do this. Singh came to the ring. The bell rang.

Grayson tried to suplex Singh. Singh threw him at the ground.

Singh charged him in the corner. Chop. Chop. Throw. Military Press. Chokeslam.

The end. #LOLSinghwins.

Match Result: Satnam Singh defeated JP Grayson

QT Marshall vs Jacked Jameson (w/ Cole Karter, Griff Garrison and Preston Vance)

Jameson said that this was his first singles match in ROH and that is actually surprisingly true. He hasn’t had a singles match in ROH despite being there since mid 2023.

Anyway, Marshall came to the ring with Big Boom AJ and Big Justice to watch his back and offset the Frat House numbers game, which I have to say, was pretty smart of him.

The bell rang and Marshall went right to Jameson who did not take off his baseball cap for the match. Marshall threw Jameson out of the ring and followed with a dive to take out all four. He dragged him back into the ring (sans baseball cap) and Jameson sent QT over the top rope where the Frat House stomped him.

Jameson started throwing elbows and and forearms in the corner, sending Marshall reeling. Marshall started powering up and hit an insiguri. He hit a Cookie Cutter and that was it. Marshall pinned Jameson.

Match Result: QT Marshall defeated Jacked Jameson

After the match, the Frat House surrounded the ring, but Big Justice took out Vance and Big Boom hit a powerbomb on Garrison. Then Rocky Romero and Trent Barretta arrived and beat them up, taking out Marshall with Barretta’s cast.

They did the same to AJ and then wen for Big Justice. Romero pushed him out of the way and grabbed a chair. They put AJ’s arm in the chair and Romero stomped it from the top rope.

-Footage was then shown from Collision, where Mercedes Mone cut a promo on Kris Statlander with the ROH Women’s TV title on her shoulder. That was about all it had to do with Ring of Honor because at Full Gear, Mone and Statlander will meet for the AEW Women’s World Title.

Persephone vs Valentina Rossi

Persephone went right to a head lock and dragged Rossi to the mat. Rossi threw her off, but Persephone hit a shoulder block followed by a hurricanrana. Rossi fought back with a splits slam and some really vicious elbows to Persephone’s traps.

Persephone leapt out of a whip to the corner and clubbed Rossi in the face. Rossi tried to steal one but only got a one count. The two rolled around until Persephone landed a powerful dropkick. She tried a suplex, but Rossi blocked it and countered with a slam.

Persephone hit a bridgeed slam, and then threw Rossi in a crucifix. That was enough and Persephone got the pin and the victory.

Match Result: Persephone defeated Valentina Rossi

After the match, Athena arrived and marched to the ring. Seemingly accepting Persephone’s earlier challenge, the two stood toe-to-toe in the ring until Diamante attacked Persephone from behind. She held Persphone while Athena screamed that Ring of Honor is “her show!” and slammed Persephone’s head into the mat.

The Infantry (Carlie Bravo & Shawn Dean) (w/Trish Adora) vs. Top Flight (Dante Martin & Darius Martin) (w/Christopher Daniels & Leila Grey)

Two-thirds of the ROH World Six Man Champions came to the ring for a 2-on-2 match with the Martin brothers of Top Flight. These guys have a long history as both teams have had great success in ROH. The Infantry hooked up with Shane Taylor Promotions and Top Flight were taken under the wing of Christopher Daniels.

A brawl broke out off the top with all four men fighting. The Infantry tried to double team Dante, but he fought them off and Darious joined him. They sent Bravo and Dean to the outside and Darius threw Bravo back in to be legal against Dante.

Quickly, Dean tagged in and hit a spear through the ropes on Dante. he added a second one sending him into the corner so he and Bravo could double team the isolated Martin brother. Bravo hit a spinning backbreaker and Dante reached for a tag, but was cut off.

Bravo hit a down low drop kick and held Dante so Dean could punch him in the stomach. Dean stayed in and pounded on Dante, keeping him from a tag and whipping him into the corner. Dean hit a Bronco Buster.

Bravo tagged in and hit an inverted atomic drop. Dante fought back, but took a big cutter from Dean. Bravo put on a headlock and brought Dante to the mat. Dante reached for a tag, but Dean cut him off. Darious, frustrated complained to the ref, but that just gave the Infantry a chance to double team Dante.

Dante finally got the hot tag to Darius who took out Bravo with some kicks and stomps. Darius threw a cutter and then hit a bridged suplex for a two count. Dante tagged back in and the two double teamed Bravo. Dean tried to help, throwing Darious out of the ring.

Dante and Bravo were legal, but Dean came in for a double neckbreaker. The pin was broken up by Darius though. Bravo threw Dari=us crotch-first into the ringpost on the outside and grabbed the Six Man belts. He slid one to Dean, but the Ref saw and took it away. Dante took advantage and landed a sunset flip to pin Dean and get the win.

Match Result: Top Flight defeated the Infantry

After the match, Shane Taylor stomped down to the ring and he and the Infantry beat down Top Flight. The grabbed Christopher Daniels and were about to take him out, when Scorpio Sky appeared. The ring cleared and he fought Taylor for a moment, sending him to the outside.

Sky grabbed one of the Six Man belts that the Infantry left behind and raised it high, signalling that Sky Flight will get Shane Taylor Promotions at Final Battle.

Harley Cameron says she was ‘asking for help’ ahead of Mercedes Mone match

Promising AEW star Harley Cameron has opened up about her preparation routine ahead of her title bout against Mercedes Mone.

Earlier this year, in February 2025, at Grand Slam in Australia, home-town hero Harley Cameron clashed against Mercedes Mone for the TBS Championship in a losing cause. Now, almost nine months later, in a recent interview on Marking Out with MVP & Dwayne Swayze, the 31-year-old reflected on asking for help ahead of her title match against Mone.

“It’s funny I was doing the maths yesterday, because I have a book that I write in, I have a wrestling book, a traditional thing where I write it down. I write everything down.Again, 64 matches in, it’s funny to even do the maths on that, because I just got to wrestle one of the greatest wrestlers of all-time, and I was like holy shit.” She further continued, “But again I was like I’m gonna do the best I can to be ready, and I’d go home and train, I’d think of spots and I’d ask for private sessions with my coaches and if you see me at work I’ll be in the ring before the work day begins because I was like ‘I’m getting put in the deep end, so I better do the best of my ability’ because if anything doesn’t go to plan or isn’t perfect, at least I can turn around and say I gave everything to it. I was training as much as I could, I was asking for help, I was doing the additional stuff.”

Cameron’s title match against Mone in Queensland, Australia also happened to be the Australian wrestler’s 64th overall career match.

Mercedes Mone announced for another championship match

Currently holding twelve championship belts from promotions all across the globe, Mercedes Mone is now on the hunt for her 13th title belt. According to House of Glory, Mone will face Nor “Phoenix” Diana at the promotion’s Superclash event in Long Island, New York on Saturday, November 15 for the APAC Women’s Championship.

AEW Women’s Tag Team title tournament sees surprise finish

The initial field of eight in the inaugural AEW Women’s Tag Team title tournament is now down to six following Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite.

Former TBS Champion Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron pulled off a bit of an upset by defeating reigning TBS Champion Mercedes Mone and ROH Women’s World Champion Athena to advance to the semifinals.

The end came when Athena hit a Samoan Drop/fall away slam on both Nightingale and Cameron for a near fall. That brought out Billie Starkz to help Athena which then brought out AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander to lay her out and chase Mone, her challenger at Full Gear, around the ring.

Athena was about to use her title belt but Nightingale hit her with a Doctor Bomb followed by Cameron’s finisher to get the win to advance.

The two will now face the Sisters of Sin (Skye Blue & Julia Hart) with the winner moving onto the finals (date yet to be announced). The other side of the bracket has yet to begin with the dates for Riho & Alex Windsor vs. Toni Storm & Mina Shirakawa, and Anna Jay & Tay Melo vs. Marina Shafir & Megan Bayne yet to be revealed.

Willow Nightingale, Harley Cameron praise Mercedes Mone: ‘She’s always growing’

Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron both heaped praise on Mercedes Mone during a recent interview.

Nightingale and Cameron will face Mone and Athena in the opening round of the AEW Women’s Tag Team title tournament. They both spoke with Sports Illustrated’s Rick Ucchino about the TBS Champion.

“I don’t think there’s anyone as well studied as she is,” Nightingale said of Mone.

“One of the key elements of All Elite Wrestling is passion, and that is something that she just has like pouring out of her,” Nightingale continued. “You know, do I want to be TBS Champion, 12 belts person? Yeah. Who doesn’t, right? We’re all doing this ’cause we want to be that, but I can’t be angry that I’m not because she is doing all that it takes to be that person. She talks the talk and she walks the walk.”

Cameron said she’s impressed by how Mone continues learning and growing as a performer.

“I’ve never met anyone this far into their wrestling journey that treats every day like it’s the first day,” Cameron said. “I respect her approach… She’s always growing, learning, evolving.”

“I’ll see her at a random training session that someone of her caliber, probably most people, wouldn’t be going to… She’s always working. And I think that’s what makes her stand apart and why her success has been legendary. Especially this run because she’s someone who has that mindset of always keep working.”

In addition to the women’s tag team tournament, Mone is also scheduled to challenge for the AEW Women’s World Championship against Kris Statlander at Full Gear on November 22. Statlander, Cameron, and Mone were involved in a segment on AEW Dynamite last week as Mone celebrated winning her 12th championship. Cameron cut a promo as the Mini Mone puppet, and the segment ended with Cameron and Statlander sending Mone’s face into a large cake that had been part of her celebration.

Cameron and Nightingale’s full interview with Sports Illustrated is available here.

This will be AEW’s first pre-show held on cable television and HBO Max. The usual pre-show, Zero Hour, airs across social media.

Here is the updated lineup for Saturday Tailgate Brawl:

Tony Khan: It’s like Harley Cameron ‘can do almost anything’

Tony Khan loves having Harley Cameron in AEW for the value she brings on screen, in the locker room, and as a representative of the company.

While speaking with the Battleground Podcast, Khan spoke highly of Cameron as a multi-faceted performer who has worked hard to improve her skills in the ring. He also described Cameron as one of the most respected people in the AEW locker room.

“She’s a great, great talent, absolutely. We’re really lucky to have Harley Cameron in AEW,” Khan said. “She’s an incredibly valuable wrestler and somebody that brings a lot of different skills to AEW, you’re totally, totally right about that. I’m really, really excited about having Harley Cameron competing in AEW, but also all the things she brings to the locker room. She’s one of the most respected people. She’s worked so hard. She hasn’t been wrestling that long. And it’s amazing. She’s gotten very, very good in the ring, but she has so many talents outside the ring too. And it’s like Harley can do almost anything.

“So I’m a big, big fan of Harley Cameron, and I think she brings a really, really valuable perspective to AEW and also somebody that represents AEW really well outside and can give fans an interesting perspective on AEW. Somebody that might be very different than what they imagined a pro wrestler would be like.”

Cameron broke out as a fan favorite in AEW during her feud with Mercedes Mone earlier this year, where she showed her talents as a wrestler, musician, and ventriloquist. Cameron underwent nose surgery in June but was not sidelined for too long.

In the Battleground Podcast interview, Khan noted that he believes the AEW women’s division is having its best-ever year in 2025.

“The wrestling is outstanding top to bottom,” he said.

Syuri debuts, Harley Cameron returns in Women’s Casino Gauntlet at AEW All In

Several surprise entrants appeared in the Women’s Casino Gauntlet match at AEW All In.

Former IWGP Women’s Champion Syuri entered the match in the number 11 position. A vignette featuring Syuri also aired on the ROH Supercard of Honor broadcast on Friday night. She revealed shortly after losing the IWGP title to Sareee in June that she would be taking a break from Stardom to wrestle overseas.

Harley Cameron also returned to AEW during the Casino Gauntlet. She wasn’t an official entrant but interfered by pushing Penelope Ford off the top rope. Cameron wore a face mask after undergoing nose surgery last month.

After announcing she had signed with AEW in June, Alex Windsor returned to the promotion for the first time since Global Wars Australia in February. She entered in the number 12 position and immediately started a striking exchange with Syuri, who she challenged for the IWGP title last month at an EVE show in London. They were the final two entrants into the match, which ended when Athena pinned Mina Shirakawa after an O-Face.

Update on Harley Cameron AEW injury angle

Megan Bayne is not actually the reason why Harley Cameron had surgery recently.

On Saturday, Cameron posted an update to social media following recent nose surgery. In AEW storyline, the surgery was a result of being dropped face-first onto the steel steps by Bayne on the May 28 edition of Dynamite. However, Bryan Alvarez is reporting that the injury was a work to cover for a previously scheduled procedure.

“I was told the Harley injury in the match was a work to set up a scheduled surgery,” says Alvarez.

https://twitter.com/harleycameron_/status/1928416229443641438

Initial reports stated that Cameron was injured at Double or Nothing three days earlier and the angle on the May 28 Dynamite was meant to write her off television. It was noted that the blood used in the match on Dynamite was fake.

Harley Cameron surgery

There is no timeline for Cameron’s return to action. She posted an image of herself with a swollen and bandaged face on Saturday, along with the caption, “Well I can’t see much right now… but REVENGE is starting to look really good…”

Harley Cameron provides update following nose surgery

Harley Cameron is recovering.

Cameron posted a photo of herself on social media Saturday, eyes swollen shut and her nose heavily bandaged following surgery.

“Well I can’t see much right now… but REVENGE is starting to look really good…,” she wrote.

https://twitter.com/harleycameron_/status/1936563604804829267

The injury took place during the opening match of the Double or Nothing pre-show last month when Cameron teamed with Anna Jay to take on Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford. During the match, Bayne threw Cameron face first onto steel steps, causing the injury. Blood could be seen across Cameron’s face, the match continuing with Cameron’s team picking up the win.

Earlier in the week, Cameron posted a video showing her nose bandaged, writing “I’ll be back (yes you must read it in the Arnold voice).”

The Australian star has been with AEW since 2022, but started to gain traction after feuding with TBS Champion Mercedes Mone. The two faced off at Grand Slam Australia in February, with Mone winning. In the weeks leading to Double or Nothing, Cameron and Jay had been feuding with Bayne and Ford, leading to the match.

Harley Cameron injured at AEW Double or Nothing, taking time off

Image: AEW

Fans will have to wait to feel the wrath as Harley Cameron is taking some time off.

According to our Bryan Alvarez, the popular AEW wrestler was injured at this past Sunday’s Double or Nothing in the match that saw she and Anna Jay take on Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford.

No details on the exact injury or how long she will be gone were given.

Alvarez also reported that Cameron’s facial bleeding in the no DQ tag team rematch at this past Wednesday’s Dynamite was not real blood and was done to set up an injury angle for her time off.

Harley Cameron in AEW

The 31-year-old made both her pro debut and AEW debut in 2022. She signed a full-time deal in 2023 and was seen during QTV segments, wrestling just once.

Starting in May 2024, Cameron became a regular and eventually joined The Outcasts, finding herself on the losing end of the ledger repeatedly. However, her comedic skills and talents outside the ring made her a cult star. That was highlighted by her program with TBS Champion Mercedes Mone leading into Grand Slam Australia which saw Cameron using ventriloquism and a Mone puppet.

Two matches announced for AEW Dynamite

Two new matches have been announced for tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite.

Following their match at AEW Double or Nothing: Zero Hour on Sunday, Anna Jay and Harley Cameron will face Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford again, this time in a no disqualification bout. Tony Khan announced the bout on Wednesday afternoon.

At Zero Hour, Cameron pinned Ford after hitting her Finishing Move, the name of her inverted Twist of Fate–style move she uses as a finish. Bayne and Ford entered that match with a 2-0 record, having previously defeated Thunder Rosa and Toni Storm, and Rosa and Kris Statlander in tag action.

Also announced for tonight’s show is a trios match pitting Mark Briscoe, Mike Bailey, and Willow Nightingale against Gabe Kidd, Jon Moxley, and Marina Shafir.

Tonight’s episode of Dynamite will take place from the El Paso County Coliseum in El Paso, Texas. The updated lineup is as follows:

AEW Dynamite, Wednesday, May 28 —

  • Mercedes Mone & Toni Storm face-to-face
  • We’ll hear from Hangman Page
  • Anna Jay & Harley Cameron vs. Penelope Ford & Megan Bayne in a no disqualification match
  • Mark Briscoe, Mike Bailey, & Willow Nightingale vs. Gabe Kidd, Jon Moxley, & Marina Shafir

Megan Bayne vs. Harley Cameron added to AEW Collision

A new match is official for this Saturday.

Tony Khan announced that Megan Bayne will take on Harley Cameron, noting that the Australian star is looking for revenge after Bayne and Penelope Ford assaulted the returning Anna Jay on last week’s show.

“Harley Cameron wants payback for the Megasus attacking @annajay___ last week on Collision! Don’t miss it TOMORROW! Saturday Night Wrestling is back on TBS TOMORROW NIGHT!,” he wrote.

Cameron cut a promo saying that Bayne is like a dinosaur, strong and ferocious, but she doesn’t believe in them. She said that it had been fun to watch Bayne destroy the roster but drew the line after the attack on Jay, as they went to Coachella together and became friends. Cameron said the Megasaus is about to go extinct.

Here’s the current lineup for this Saturday’s show from Atlantic City, New Jersey:

AEW Collision (May 3):

  • AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm vs. Lady Frost in a title eliminator
  • Brody King vs. Josh Alexander
  • Megan Bayne vs. Harley Cameron

AEW Collision live results: Mercedes Mone & Harley Cameron team up, TNT title match

The Boston native returns home for the second consecutive night, this time teaming with Harley Cameron against Kris Statlander and Julia Hart with AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm on commentary. Mone will face the winner of Statlander vs. Hayter in the finals of the women’s Owen tourney next month.

THE DEATH RIDERS TAKE OVER THE SHOW

Sir Elton John welcomed us to the Spring Break Thru edition of Collision. Tony Schiavone and Nigel McGuinness were on the stage to welcome us to the show, where they recapped last night’s Dynamite and ran down the card for tonight’s Collision before getting cut off by Marina Shafir attacking a stagehand. She took the mic from Arkady Aura as The Death Riders made their way to the ring.

Claudio Castagnoli destroyed a camera before destroying a cameraman by putting him through a table at ringside. The crowd cursed out Wheeler Yuta as they destroyed the ringside area. The crowd chanted You Tapped Out at Moxley before he told the babyface army to enjoy their celebration as it’s the last one they would be having for a long time. Moxley said that he didn’t want help from The Young Bucks and warned them not to cross him or they would never be seen in pro wrestling again.

Moxley moved onto Samoa Joe, who choked him out last night on Dynamite. He treated Joe with reverence and gave him his space, but Joe started something that Moxley had to finish. He wouldn’t hide and would fight Joe to the death for the AEW World Title because he didn’t know any other way. Moxley officially challenged Samoa Joe and said that Joe knew exactly what he was dealing with. The Death Riders left the scene, allowing the announcers to finish running down tonight’s card.

(A hot start to the show, with a clear direction for the World Title set after Samoa Joe choked out the World Champion last night.)

Kevin Knight vs. Lance Archer (w/ Don Callis)

Archer got a jump start on Knight and dragged him up to the stage to pinball him off the video board and down the ramp. Archer went for a chokeslam from the ramp to the ring, but Knight spun to his feet and dropkicked Archer. Knight hit a springboard moonsault to Archer on the ramp before following with a high cross. Archer shot out of the corner with a lariat to shut Knight down.

A short-arm clothesline from Archer, reminiscent of Archer’s former manager Jake Roberts, laid out Knight as Archer took full control. Knight got Archer to his knees and hit a shoulder block to send Archer to the floor. Callis cut off Knight as he climbed to the top rope, allowing Archer to pull Knight from the ring and swing him into the ring steps as we went to a commercial.

Archer squashed Knight in the corner as we came back from commercial. Archer teased Knight to fight back before drilling him with a forearm. Knight pulled Archer down for a small package for a nearfall, but Archer kicked out and hit a release German suplex. Archer set Knight up for the Blackout, but Knight flipped through to his feet. Knight countered a chokeslam with a dropkick and evaded Archer but ran into a boot from Archer in the corner. Archer set up a chokeslam from the second rope, but Knight pulled Archer down with a headscissors and hit the UFO Splash for a nearfall.

Archer came back with a buckle bomb and a chokeslam for a nearfall. Archer went for a ropewalk, but Knight swiped Archer’s legs out from under him and hit a springboard lariat to the floor. Knight hit another springboard lariat in the ring for the win.

(This was a fantastic match as far as giving Knight some shine against a credible name in Archer. The crowd was fully behind him as he eventually took the big man down for the win. An effective TV match in terms of building Knight as a future star.)

Match Result: Kevin Knight def. Lance Archer

We got video from the new AEW Trios Champions Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata, & Powerhouse Hobbs. Samoa Joe said that The Death Riders learned that predators can be hunted too. They were The Opps, they were men just looking for a fight, and they were coming for so much more. Joe indicated that Hobbs was now an official Opp.

(This is the energy I want these Trios Titles to have. Groups of people coming together to fight anybody. A guy who has issues with Samoa Joe personally can find partners to fight them, or a guy who has history with Hobbs. These titles can be vibrant showcases of the roster instead of shackled by the need for a dedicated Trios division.)

Kris Statlander & Jamie Hayter were backstage ahead of their Owen Hart Foundation Tournament semifinal. Statlander said that there were other women in the division worthy of praise. They got in each other’s faces and said that whoever won had better go all the way.

At the desk, Tony Schiavone read a letter from FTR, who were suspended without pay for the week for their actions on last week’s Collision. They apologized for their actions and claimed that their punishment wasn’t strong enough. Harwood claimed that he wouldn’t have gone through with a piledriver to Schiavone, but he felt justified in scaring him for what he said. They gave a disingenuous apology to Nigel McGuinness as well, making it clear that they didn’t think McGuinness could beat them up if they wanted to. Schiavone & McGuinness were nonplussed.

(I enjoy the disingenuous nature of FTR’s characters right now.)

Josh Alexander & Konosuke Takeshita vs. Rocky Romero & Tomohiro Ishii

Don Callis joined commentary as his newest charge took the ring with Takeshita. Ishii and Takeshita got after it while McGuinness announced that Mark Briscoe would be adding a ninth child to the Briscoe Family. There may be more Briscoes than Bullet Club members at this point, congratulations to the Briscoe family. Callis explained that he gave former TNA World Champion Alexander his first contract in the US and stayed in touch with him over the years. Takeshita and Alexander teamed up on Romero, with Alexander hitting his sick car crash crossbody off the apron as we went to commercial.

After the break, Romero hit a top rope Sliced Bread to Takeshita before tagging in Ishii, who ran wild on Alexander. The match broke down into a Pier Six brawl as bodies flew everywhere. Takeshita shoved Romero onto Ishii’s cover, and the two argued before they got shoved into each other. Alexander got Ishii in an ankle lock before Romero broke it up.

Alexander scored with a German suplex for a nearfall before Romero broke it up. A double team got broken up by Alexander, and Ishii accidentally caught Romero with a lariat before Alexander rolled up Ishii for a nearfall. Ishii scored with a headbutt and went for the tag, but Romero hopped off the apron and left Ishii to the dogs. The Callis Family hit a pair of forearms before Alexander hit a powerbomb for the win.

The crowd chanted Rocky Sucks like it was 1997 as Romero got back into the ring looking apologetic. He went to help Ishii up before Ishii shoved him. From behind Ishii emerged Trent Beretta, and the seemingly reformed Roppongi Vice laid the boots to Ishii. The Callis Family came back to ringside to welcome Beretta back. Callis handed Beretta a giant wrench, and Beretta drilled Ishii in the back of the head. The Callis Family stood hand in hand with Roppongi Vice to end the segment.

(A solid match, but the story is the return of Trent Beretta after another long injury layoff and the addition of Roppongi Vice to the Callis Family. The Romero turn was done well, as Rocky fought hard but got tired of the miscommunication. RPG Vice is a hell of an addition to the tag team ranks and will be a great addition to AEW TV going forward.)

Match Result: Josh Alexander & Konosuke Takeshita def. Tomohiro Ishii & Rocky Romero

Lexy Nair’s guest at this time was Mercedes Mone. After reminding Nair that she’s beaten Kris Statlander twice, Mini Mone entered the frame. This was some more comedy with Harley Cameron.

Megan Bayne (w/ Penelope Ford) vs. Rebecca Scott & Ashley Vox

The locals had a decent idea of getting a jumpstart on Bayne, but Bayne took them down with a double German suplex. Bayne took Vox down with three powerbombs, dropped Scott with a jumping clothesline, then dropped Scott on top of Vox with Fate’s Descent for the quick win. Bayne made them both bow down before standing tall.

Match Result: Megan Bayne def. Rebecca Scott & Ashley Vox

We got a video package for Anthony Bowens, where he repeated the five tools he had and hit all of his catchphrases.

Adam Cole came out for a TNT Title Open Challenge. Cole was listed as representing “Paragon,” which might be the new name of the Undisputed Kingdom. The challenge was answered by Claudio Castagnoli.

AEW TNT Title Match – Adam Cole (c) vs. Claudio Castagnoli

Cole took the fight to Castagnoli, but Castagnoli took him down with a slam and a boot out of the corner. Cole fought Castagnoli off and took him down with a neckbreaker for a one count. Cole caught Castagnoli with a superkick to the knee and a shining wizard for a nearfall, then sent Castagnoli to the floor with bicycle kicks. Castagnoli brought Cole to the floor, where they fought around ringside before Castagnoli dropped Cole back-first on the barricade. Castagnoli hit a Gorilla Press to Cole over the barricade as the crowd chanted AEW.

Castagnoli took Cole down with a lariat as he re-entered the ring. After a commercial, Castagnoli pinballed Cole around with uppercuts before running into a superkick. Cole hit a backstabber for a nearfall. Castagnoli backdropped out of the Panama Sunrise but caught a superkick after a back and forth. Cole hit a neckbreaker over the knee for a nearfall.

Castagnoli countered a second Sunrise attempt into a Giant Swing for a nearfall, before transitioning into a Crossface. Cole rolled back into a pin for a nearfall, then caught a launching Castagnoli with a superkick for a nearfall. Cole went to drop The Boom, but Castagnoli hit the Swiss Death uppercut for a nearfall. Castagnoli hammered Cole with uppercuts in the corner before hitting a superplex, but Cole pulled Castagnoli back with a crucifix pin to get the win.

The rest of “The Paragon” came out to celebrate with Cole before leaving. Castagnoli lost his mind at ringside, tipping the announce table over before the rest of the Death Riders came out to calm him down. The crowd chanted LOSERS as the Death Riders left.

(A much better showing for Cole in his first TNT Title defense. Castagnoli losing his mind after the match may be the signs of a crack in the Death Riders after their first big loss. As an aside, did I miss when they started calling the Undisputed Kingdom “The Paragon”? When did that happen?)

Match Result: Adam Cole def. Claudio Castagnoli to retain the TNT Title

We got a recap of Chris Jericho’s TV Time from last week where he took a leave of absence. Lexy Nair’s guests at this time were Big Bill & Bryan Keith. Bill said that he was angry, but Keith calmed him down and said that if they were a family, they needed to handle things in-house. Keith said that maybe if Bill hadn’t put Jericho on blast last week, then Jericho wouldn’t have left. Bill said that maybe they shouldn’t be living and dying by Jericho’s whims, but said that they needed to crack some skulls and get some wins either way.

La Faccion Ingobernable vs. KM, Rosario Grillo, & LSG

Rush is back, and he’s here with Dralistico and The Beast Mortos. This was a beating, and Rush pinned KM with The Bull’s Horns.

Match Result: La Faccion Ingobernable def. KM, Rosario Grillo, & LSG

Renee Paquette’s guest at this time was Kevin Knight, who was hanging out with Speedball Mike Bailey. Ricochet cut them off, complaining about his team’s loss in the $400,000 tag match from Dynamite last week. Ricochet told them not to annoy the vets around AEW, claiming that they’re far below his level. Knight said that he could do everything Ricochet could do, but Ricochet couldn’t swing his hair around like Knight could. They got in each other’s faces and Knight feigned a slap and made Ricochet flinch. Knight and Bailey left, and Renee flipped her hair before leaving Ricochet by himself.

ROH World Television Title Match – Komander (w/Alex Abrahantes) (c) vs. Nick Wayne

ROH announcer Bobby Cruise handed the ring announcements for this one. Wayne refused the Code of Honor, spitting at Komander instead. Komander laid in some strikes and took Wayne down with a headscissors. Wayne rolled out of the way of the ropewalk Shooting Star, then after some back and forth, sent Komander to the floor on a springboard attempt. The rest of The Patriarchy were watching the match backstage at a normal TV-watching angle.

After a commercial, Komander caught Wayne with a fancy flash pin for a nearfall. Komander caught Wayne with a big backbreaker as the crowd chanted his name. Komander hit a double jump kick to Wayne on the top rope, then hit a senton over the ropes onto Wayne as he laid on the ramp. Komander hit a step-up moonsault for a nearfall. The crowd chanted Who’s Mom, Nick’s Mom as Wayne caught Komander with a flash pin before sending Komander into the turnbuckles.

Komander came back with a poisonrana for a nearfall. Wayne caught a launching Komander with a Dragon Suplex with a bridge for a nearfall. Komander cut off Wayne’s World and hit a springboard destroyer before landing a step-up moonsault to big cheers from the crowd. Wayne cut off the ropewalk Shooting Star with boots to the face, then hit the Prodigyplex for the win and the ROH TV Title. The Patriarchy looked pleased in the back.

(A great title match, and a great showcase for both of these young talents. The crowd was rabid for this one after the commercial break. Glad to see AEW giving Nick Wayne some momentum on-screen ahead of Best of the Super Juniors.)

Match Result: Nick Wayne def. Komander to win the ROH World Television Title

It was announced during this match that next week’s Playoff Palooza Collision will air after the NBA playoff games next Saturday night.

We got a video package for Hologram, as he returns to action next week.

Top Flight were backstage. They announced that next week they would get another match with The Cru, and this time, it would be a Tornado Tag Match. The Cru came for a fight, but security broke them up.

Julia Hart & Kris Statlander vs. Harley Cameron & Mercedes Mone

AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm joined commentary.

Cameron tried to use Mini Mone to get a quick rollup, but Statlander was too strong. Cameron eventually got a rollup after a sequence for a nearfall. Julia Hart tagged in and hit Old School on Cameron, which was funny to me for some reason. What was funnier was Storm on commentary saying that she wouldn’t be walking the streets calling herself a CEO right now. Statlander and Mone fought on the floor in front of Storm as we went to a commercial break.

After the break, Mone took Statlander up for the Three Amigos, but Statlander responded by doing the Three Amigos with both Mone & Cameron. Jamie Hayter was impressed while watching in the back. Statlander went for the 450 Splash, but Mone and Cameron rolled out of the way. Hart tagged in and moonsaulted onto both of them. Mone sent Hart into the corner, but Mone caught her with a Spider Suplex.

A Pier Six brawl broke as all four women got their moves in, ending with Mone stuffing a moonsault attempt with the knees. Statlander lost her footing with Mone and almost dropped her on her head, but eventually they got to where they were going, with Cameron tagging in. As Hart held Mone in the Tarantula, Statlander hit a discus lariat and the Hayterade on Cameron for the win, sending a message to her opponent on Dynamite.

(Jamie Hayter not being in this match was interesting, as instead we had Statlander in the ring with Mone as a possible preview of the Owen Finals. The match was fine, aside from the one scary spot. This wasn’t quite up to the last two AEW shows, but this was a quality episode of TV.)

Match Result: Kris Statlander & Julia Hart def. Harley Cameron & Mercedes Mone

During this match, Speedball Mike Bailey & Kevin Knight vs. The Young Bucks was announced for Dynamite.

TNT title defense, Momo Watanabe match part of AEW Collision lineup

Image: AEW

Daniel Garcia will look to keep his TNT title reign intact as he defends the title as part of this Saturday’s AEW Collision lineup — the go-home show for Sunday’s Revolution.

After going to a no contest with Adam Cole last Saturday, Garcia will defend against reigning Ring of Honor Pure Champion Lee Moriarty whose title will not be on the line. It will be Garcia’s sixth title defense and the third time he has faced Moriarty in AEW history. He has yet to lose to him.

Before she challenges TBS Champion Mercedes Mone at Revolution, Momo Watanabe will take on Serena Deeb with Mone on commentary. It will be Watanabe’s first AEW TV match and first match in an AEW ring since last summer’s Forbidden Door.

Harley Cameron will look to win her second straight as she will be in action against an opponent to be named.

Hologram will look to remain undefeated since making his return as he faces Dralistico.

Here’s the current lineup for Saturday that is being taped Wednesday after Dynamite:

  • TNT Champion Daniel Garcia defends against Lee Moriarty
  • Moto Watanabe vs. Serena Deeb
  • Hologram vs. Dralistico
  • Harley Cameron in action
