Skye Blue says meeting Jon Moxley as a kid led to full-circle AEW moment

Skye Blue recalled meeting Jon Moxley as a kid during a recent interview with TMZ.

The 26-year-old said that her mother had pulled her out of school so that she could go to a Comic-Con to meet Moxley. Blue says she told the current AEW Continental Champion that she was going to be a wrestler too one day.

Blue said:

“I think it was maybe like a Comic Con or something that me and my mom went to meet Moxley.”

“There’s this photo, and the internet has seen it. I tried to bury it and hide it, but they found it. I have neon pink hair. My mom took me out of school so that we could go meet Moxley. I remember I walked up and I was terrified. I walked up to him and I was like, ‘I want to be a wrestler one day. I’m going to train to be a wrestler one day.’ And I don’t remember exactly what he said, but he smiled and it was very quick. I was just so anxious the whole time. I remember walking away from that and I told my mom, ‘I’m going to work with him one day.’ And she was like, ‘If you put your mind to it, I’m sure you can.’ I had already proved how stubborn I was. I had started training. And now I work with the man.”

“I can pick his brain about wrestling and I can get feedback from him. The other day I walked past him in the hallway and he was like, ‘Good job, kid.’ Little kid me was like screaming in the back of my brain. It’s like a little full circle thing that I was like, ‘Holy crap.’”

Skye Blue says she ‘would love to step up’ during Toni Storm’s AEW absence

AEW’s Skye Blue is willing to prove what it takes to follow in Toni Storm’s footsteps.

Speaking with Soundsphere, Blue addressed the opportunity to cement her spot in the top of AEW’s women’s division in Storm’s absence.

“I definitely would love to step up,” she says. “I’ve wrestled Toni so many times, I absolutely love wrestling that woman. I feel like since she came to AEW, I’ve learned so much from her. Just being able to pick her brain about wrestling – every time I get in the ring with her, I feel like I’ve learned something about wrestling, so there are big shoes to fill. But I think all three of us are ready to step up and show that we are dominant players in the women’s division and we’re ready to push forward and show them.”

Blue also discussed her contrasting personalities when it comes to having a quiet, calm demeanor backstage as opposed to walking out and showcasing in-ring brutality.

“There’s always the little anxieties in the back of your head. You look out and you’re like, ‘Oh, my God, there’s so many people’, but these are people who came to see you do what you love and what you do best. You have to turn off the little narrator in your head and just do it, and you gotta push yourself outside your comfort zone to be the best.”

Storm defeated Marina Shafir at Revolution last weekend despite Ronda Rousey’s interference. Following the pay-per-view there were reports citing Storm taking time off from AEW TV in the next few months, probably for the most of 2026.

Blue debuted in AEW in 2021 and has not shied away from hardcore, brutal stipulation matches. With Julia Hart by her side, her ambition to win the AEW Tag Team Titles remains on her agenda. Thekla’s addition to the Triangle of Madness the women’s division is on high alert. made them a formidable stable in AEW.

Kyle Fletcher discusses on-screen pairing with Skye Blue: ‘I never want to force something’

In a relationship for a few years now, Kyle Fletcher recently opened up about the possibility of teaming with his partner, Skye Blue, on AEW television.

Promoting the upcoming All In PPV in the UK, Fletcher and Blue recently appeared on WhatCulture Wrestling for an interview. When asked about the possibility of him pairing with Blue in AEW, Fletcher teased the chances instead of confirming or ruling them out.

It’s something that we’ve definitely spoken about, I think it more comes down to timing and when it feels like the right thing. I never want to force something just because it’s something that I want to do or we want to do. I think right now, we’re kind of building ourselves and building our own brands,” Fletcher said.

At some point if it feels like the right time to make that move, then it’ll happen. I don’t want to rule out it ever happening. I think that moment will probably come. But yeah, I think we’re both on our own paths right now and we’re pretty happy.”

Fletcher is currently the reigning TNT Champion and a part of The Don Callis Family, while Blue finds herself a part of The Triangle of Madness with Julia Hart and Thekla.

Image: Pro Wrestling EVE/Will Ospreay

Notes coming from today’s Pro Wrestling Eve event.

Kris Statlander won the Pro Wrestling EVE International title in the main event of Friday’s Mean Grrrls event in London, defeating Anita Vaughan to win the title for the first time. Vaughan’s reign ended after 92 days.

Statlander is signed to AEW, where she has been featured in recent weeks still conflicted about her relationship with Willow Nightingale. Despite turning against her last year, Statlander seems torn on whether to repair their relationship. She most recently competed on the June 25 edition of AEW Dynamite, winning a four-way between Athena, Thunder Rosa, and Nightingale to earn the number one spot in the upcoming Women’s Casino Gauntlet match at All In.

Pro Wrestling Eve also announced that Julia Hart and Skye Blue would be appearing at an upcoming show on August 23, the same weekend as AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. A video aired during the show making the announcement.

Skye Blue made her return from injury in March, quickly reassociating herself with Hart.

Skye Blue credits Kyle Fletcher for helping her get through broken fibula recovery

Skye Blue has opened up about that injury that kept her out of action for ten months.

In an interview with Q101 that also featured boyfriend Kyle Fletcher, the AEW star talked about her injury that took place on July 20 during an episode of Collision. She was wrestling Hikaru Shida when she broke her leg catching a dive.

“I’ve caught dives before so I didn’t think anything of it,” she recounted. “As she jumped, I could tell something was off with it. It was either her head was hitting the floor or I was gonna dive and catch her. I dove and caught her. And the second I felt it, I had rolled over to get up because I had to crawl to where I was going, I felt my foot dangling from my leg…I could feel it detached. It was the grossest feeling that I’ve ever felt.”

Blue said she ended up snapping her fibula, her first serious injury in pro wrestling that required plates and screws being inserted into her foot. During the interview, she talked about her rehab process.

“It was so much harder than I anticipated. I didn’t realize how much you use your leg for,” she said. “Even just learning how to walk again was difficult. I was butt-scooting up stairs. And when [Fletcher] had to go to work, Robbie Eagles stayed with us for a little while.”

When she was asked if she considered ending her career due to the injury, she said it crossed her mind, but credited Fletcher with helping her get through those tough times.

“It’d be like four in the morning and there was times where I would have to lay with my leg straight because if I moved it, it was just in pain,” she said. “But this one [Fletcher] was the best because he’d be like no, tell those voices to shut up. You’re going to wrestle, you’re not going to just sit on this couch and mope. And yeah, he was by far the biggest supporter I could ever ask for.”

Blue will make her in-ring return on Wednesday’s Dynamite where she’ll be part of a four way AEW Women’s title eliminator match featuring champion Toni Storm, AZM, and Mina Shirakawa.

Skye Blue returning at AEW Dynamite Beach Break

Skye Blue is returning to the ring for the first time in nearly 10 months.

AEW revealed during Thursday’s Collision episode that Skye Blue will make her in-ring return at Dynamite Bach Break in her hometown of Chicago on Wednesday, May 14.

Blue will be part of a four-way Women’s World title eliminator bout also featuring Women’s Champion Toni Storm, and two competitors yet to be revealed. Storm laid out the challenge for another title eliminator bout in her show-opening promo on Collision.

Skye Blue has been sidelined since last July after suffering a broken ankle in a bout against Thunder Rosa on Collision.

The Dynamite Beach Break card will also feature a World title cage match, Ricochet against Zach Gowen, plus Owen Hart Foundation tournament finalists Will Ospreay and Hangman Adam Page teaming against Konosuke Takeshita and Josh Alexander. Bobby Lashley is also going to give his final answer as to whether or not MJF can join The Hurt Syndicate on the show.

AEW Dynamite Beach Break, Wednesday, May 14 —

  • AEW World Champion Jon Moxley defends against Samoa Joe in a steel cage match
  • Will Ospreay and Hangman Adam Page vs. Konosuke Takeshita and Josh Alexander
  • Ricochet vs. Zach Gowen
  • Women’s World title eliminator four-way: Toni Storm vs. Skye Blue vs. TBA vs. TBA

Skye Blue gives update on injury recovery

Skye Blue is progressing in her recovery from injury but does not know when she’ll be making her AEW return yet.

Now approaching nine months since surgery, Blue did a signing for K&S WrestleFest this week. She was asked how her ankle is healing.

“I’m trying,” she responded. “Healing an ankle is not easy, especially when it’s completely disconnected from your leg [laughs]. But hopefully soon. Getting better and better every day.”

A fan asked when we’ll see her back in action, but Blue does not have that answer at the moment.

“I wish I knew, brother. But I’m trying. I’m trying,” she said. “I can walk, that is a plus. I remember when I couldn’t do that when I was butt-scooting up my stairs. Oh, that was the worst.”

Blue suffered a broken ankle while facing Hikaru Shida on the July 20, 2024 episode of Collision. The injury happened a few minutes into the match when Blue was on the outside and took a crossbody from Shida. Blue could not continue and the match ended in a referee stoppage.

Last September, Blue did make an on-camera appearance for AEW during the pre-show for All Out in her home state of Illinois.

Kyle Fletcher, who is dating Blue, told Good Karma Wrestling earlier this month that Blue’s return should be coming “sooner than we think.” He said her recovery has been challenging, but it’s been rewarding to help her through it and reach milestones like getting back in the gym.

AEW All Out notes: Daniel Garcia lays out MJF, champions sweep, Mustafa Ali, Costco Guys

Here’s some notes from Saturday’s AEW All Out from Chicago’s NOW Arena:

MJF defeated Daniel Garcia, but paid the price.

In the opening match of the main card, former AEW World Champion MJF defeated Daniel Garcia but paid the price after the match by taking a second rope piledriver that may put him out of action storyline-wise.

Ibou of WrestlePurists stated on Twitter that the original finish to the bout was for Garcia to win clean. However, Garcia has yet to sign an expected new deal with AEW so the decision was made to go with MJF. However, MJF is expected to go film a movie, hence the finish to write him off for a bit.

All of the champions retained their titles.

Every championship defended on the PPV left with the titleholders.

In the night’s co-main event, AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson defeated TNT Champion Jack Perry to retain his title despite interference from the Young Bucks. After the win, Danielson was turned on by his now-former Blackpool Combat Club teammates Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli while Wheeler Yuta looked on in horror, held back by PAC.

In a likely match of the year candidate, AEW International Champion Will Ospreay defended against top contender PAC.

TBS Champion Mercedes Mone defeated Hikaru Shida for the second time this year to retain her title.

AEW Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks successfully defended against 2/3 of the aforementioned reigning AEW Trios Champions Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta.

AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada defeated Konosuke Takeshita, Orange Cassidy and Mark Briscoe in a four-way when Okada pinned Cassidy after hitting the Rainmaker.

According to reports, Mustafa Ali was backstage at the show visiting friends as he is a native to Chicago. The former WWE star and former TNA X-Division Champion also shared the following video on X as he is considering it a “tour stop.” He never appeared on the broadcast, nor was mentioned.

Social media stars The Costco Guys appeared on the pre-show, getting some love from the Iron Savages at ringside before doing an interview with Renee Paquette and RJ City which consisted of a lot of the word “boom” and the father (Big Justice) revealing that he used to be an indie wrestling in the NY/NJ area, teaming with AEW producer and manager Sonjay Dutt.

Skye Blue makes on-screen return during AEW All Out Zero Hour

Skye Blue is on the road to recovery after making her on-screen return during the Zero Hour pre-show of Saturday’s AEW All Out.

Blue, who has been out since July 20th with a broken ankle suffered on an episode of Collision, came out to be interviewed by Tony Schiavone as she is from Chicago where Saturday’s pay-per-view is being held.

Schiavone asked about her recovery and when she could return. She said it was just a waiting game and then was interrupted by AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May who was planning on holding her championship celebration but decided against it.

The two traded verbal jabs before May shoved Blue down and started punching her. She was about to inflict further damage with Blue’s crutch before Queen Aminata ran out for the save, later challenging May for a match on this Wednesday’s Dynamite.

It’s still unknown when the 24-year-old could be back in action. She had surgery on the ankle ten days after she suffered the injury.
