Christian Cage to appear on AEW Dynamite Blood & Guts

For the second straight week, Christian Cage will appear on AEW Dynamite as he has been announced for Wednesday’s Blood & Guts show.

On last Wednesday’s Dynamite, Cage attempted to explain his actions at the recent Road Rager edition of the show when he attacked Jungle Boy after he and Luchasaurus lost the AEW Tag Team titles to the Young Bucks in a ladder match.

Cage blamed the fans and said that part of his animosity toward Jungle Boy was due to being eliminated by him in a Casino Battle Royale last year.

After insulting Jungle Boy last week by referencing his father, the late Luke Perry, Luchasaurus came out and choked Cage before he calmed the big man down and said he wanted to speak with him privately.

Jungle Boy is currently out of action due to a shoulder injury.

That is the only current addition to the show that has just the six-on-six Blood & Guts cage match main event announced:

  • Blood & Guts match: Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara, Matt Menard, Angelo Parker, Daniel Garcia & Jake Hager vs. AEW interim World Champion Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, Santana, Ortiz & Eddie Kingston
  • Christian Cage promo

AEW talent to appear on ‘Carpool Karaoke: The Series’

Several AEW wrestlers are set to appear in the next season of “Carpool Karaoke: The Series.”

AEW’s Britt Baker, Christian Cage, Bryan Danielson, MJF, Powerhouse Hobbs, CM Punk, and Ruby Soho will be featured as a grouping for a season five episode of “Carpool Karaoke: The Series.” The season premieres on Apple TV+ on Friday, May 27.

The other groupings that will be appearing during the season are:

  • Actor Simu Liu & actress Jessica Henwick
  • Murray Bartlett, Alexandra Daddario & Sydney Sweeney of HBO’s “The White Lotus”
  • TikTok stars the D’Amelio family (Charli, Dixie, Heidi & Marc)

“Carpool Karaoke: The Series” is a spinoff of the Carpool Karaoke segment from “The Late Late Show” with James Corden.

“Carpool Karaoke: The Series” first premiered in 2017. John Cena appeared on a season one episode, while WWE-themed episodes were part of season two and season three.

FTR vs. Young Bucks for AAA & ROH Tag titles announced for AEW Dynamite

A match between FTR and The Young Bucks has been announced for this Wednesday following an angle that took place at tonight’s ROH Supercard of Honor event.

At tonight’s ROH show, FTR defeated The Briscoes to win the World Tag Team Championships. After the match, The Young Bucks came out and attacked The Briscoes, causing FTR to come back to make the save. Dax Harwood then again made the challenge to The Bucks, challenging them to a match right then and now. Matt Jackson said instead they would have a match this Wednesday on Dynamite.

It was announced later in the show that the match would be for both the AAA and ROH Tag Team titles.

In recent weeks, FTR has crossed paths with The Young Bucks over who is the best team in wrestling. On this past Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite, Dax Harwood had issued the challenge to the Bucks for another match. They first faced each other at Full Gear 2020, where The Young Bucks defeated FTR to win the AEW World Tag Team Championship.

Additionally, a match between Christian Cage and Adam Cole was also announced for Wednesday. Cage and Jurrassic Express have been feuding with Adam Cole and reDRagon, with the Super Elite stealing Jurrassic Express’ AEW World Tag Team Championships on Rampage last week.

Here is the current card for this Wednesday’s Dynamite:

  • The Young Bucks vs. FTR II for the ROH and AAA Tag Team titles
  • Christian Cage vs. Adam Cole
  • Tables match: The Hardys vs. The Butcher & The Blade
  • Men’s Owen Hart Foundation Cup tournament qualifying matches begin
  • Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Cup tournament qualifying matches continue

The ladder match winner will earn a future TNT title shot at the March 16 St. Patrick’s Day Slam Dynamite episode.

The Rampage bout was Christian’s first match of 2022, as he has primarily served as a manager for AEW World Tag Team Champions Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus in recent months.

I’ve had the chance to work with Pete Dunne, but it was in a multi-man match or something, but never anything that was one on one. • Nyla Rose spoke to Sports Illustrated regarding her reaction to a transphobic sign that was held up during a recent match on Dynamite. “For the most part, people understood why that sign was wrong,” Rose said. “Maybe that person didn’t quite understand the gravity of what they were doing. You want to boo, that’s cool. But there is a line. People might feel it’s a conflict of their beliefs by simply respecting someone else, but it’s not. You don’t have to understand or even agree with somebody’s situation to show them simple respect and kindness, like respecting their pronouns and respecting their way of life. I’d love for people to be cool with it, but if that’s not your thing, it’s not your thing. But shouldn’t people want to treat their fellow humans with a little respect and kindness?”
  • Christian Cage took to social media to reflect on his return to pro wrestling one year ago. “1 yr ago today I took my career back. Moose wins Impact title after defeating champion Josh Alexander

Moose won the Impact World Championship at Bound for Glory, defeating new champion Josh Alexander in a matter of seconds.

Alexander submitted Christian Cage with an ankle lock to win the Impact World Championship for the first time. His family entered the ring and he started to celebrate when suddenly Moose arrived, holding the Call Your Shot trophy which he had won earlier in the show. Alexander hurriedly sent his family out of the ring as the bell rang, with Moose spearing Alexander immediately and pinning him to win the championship for the first time. Moose posed with the championship as the show closed.

Cage had held the Impact World Championship for 71 days, having defeated Kenny Omega for the title on the first episode of AEW Rampage that aired on August 13.

Moose won the Call Your Shot battle royal earlier in the show, pinning Matt Cardona. As a result, he was allowed to choose any kind of title match of his choosing at any time.

Impact Bound for Glory live results: Christian vs. Josh Alexander

The Impact World title will be on the line as Christian Cage defends the gold for the third time when he takes on former X-Division champion Josh Alexander in the main event of Saturday’s Bound for Glory.

Alexander earned the shot by relinquishing his title and exercising Impact’s “Option C” which is the ability to do so and get a World title match. Cage has defended the gold twice since taking it from Kenny Omega on the debut of AEW Rampage in August.

The Knockouts title will be on the line as Deonna Purrazzo defends against former champion Mickie James who returned to an Impact ring for the first time since 2015 Thursday. This has been building since just prior to NWA Empower. Purrazzo is approaching her first full year as champion and is looking for the 16th defense of the gold.

Other title matches include Tag Team Champions The Good Brothers vs. FinJuice vs. Chris Bey & Hikuleo; Steve Maclin vs. Trey Miguel vs. El Phantasmo for the vacant X-Division title; Knockouts Tag Team Champions Decay vs. the former Iiconics and a six-way to crown the first-ever Digital Media champion.

The show will also see a 20-man Call Your Shot gauntlet match, Heath and Rhino vs. Violent by Design, and Awesome Kong entering the Hall of Fame, inducted by Gail Kim.

Our live coverage begins with the Countdown to Glory pre-show.

 * * * * * * * * * *

Live broadcast from Las Vegas, NV started with Awesome Kong’s Hall of Fame Induction. They initially showed a video package covering Kong’s history on Impact Wrestling, with comments from the Impact Knockouts, talking about Kong’s importance to women’s wrestling.

Gail Kim inducted Awesome Kong, she talked about Kong’s debut and how they worked together to create magic. She talked about how Impact took the risk with two women of color and allowed them to go out and do their thing and how that ended up changing the business. Kim talked about the personal relationship she has with Kong before bringing her out.

Awesome Kong first of all thanked the crowd, for keeping Impact alive and for supporting the wrestlers that work for the company. She thanked God, she thanked Scott D’Amore and Dutch Mantel for working with the Knockouts throughout the years, she thanked her husband, she thanked SHIMMER, Lexi Faye, Dave Prazak, and closed the speech telling everyone to follow their dreams.

The Knockouts locker room, including Cheerleader Melissa, came out to congratulate and accompany Kong on the ramp to close the ceremony.

Jordynne Grace (with Rachael Ellering) defeated Chelsea Green, Fallah Bahh, Madison Rayne (with Kaleb), John Skylar, and Crazzy Steve (with Black Taurus) to become the Inaugural Digital Media Championship

Each participant in this match qualified through a series of matches that took place in the last couple of weeks on Impact’s digital media channels. Originally, Tenille Dashwood had qualified to the match, but after not being able to make it to the show, her tag team partner Madison Rayne took her place.

Match started with a couple of pair ups, but it was Bahh and Grace that paired up inside the ring first, with Grace taking down Bahh with a shoulder tackle, the running elbow, and a Vader bomb for the first near fall of the night. Skylar and Green came in next, with the latter getting rid of Skylar early on with a dropkick. Rayne later on took down Steve with a DDT.

The match continued with a couple more pair ups. Crazzy Steve at one point locked in a double Upside Down on both Rayne and Green.

At the end, Grace dropped Skylar with the Grace driver for the win. The match was really short and not great for the amount of people involved, but it was all about building and crowning Grace as the inaugural champion.

 * * * * * * * * * *

Main show opened with a video package about Josh Alexander’s rise to become the Impact World Championship challenger in tonight’s main event. Great Package.

The IInspiration (Cassie Lee & Jessie McKay) defeated Knockouts Tag Team Champions Decay (Havok & Rosemary) to become the NEW Champions!

Harley Cameron sang the IInspiration’s theme for the debut. Prior to Decay’s entrance, McKay and Lee took microphones to tell Impact that they are there to inspire us all.

This is The IInspiration’s debut, therefore, these teams have not interacted since the announcement of the match, but they’ve had words for each other leading up to this match.

Match started with Decay in control, they easily overpowered Lee and McKay in their initial efforts. Some of the spots came off as comedy. Rosemary locked in an early Upside Down on McKay but it wasn’t until Rosemary distracted herself with Lee, that the IInspiration managed to cut off Rosemary for a bit.

It wasn’t long before Havok and Lee came in, with the former running wild over both McKay and Lee, but after some miscalculations, Havok ended up on the floor after crashing down. Back in the ring, The IInspiration once again worked over Rosemary, getting a couple of near falls.

Havok came back to the match and got a near fall on Lee after a spear from Rosemary.

Lee got rid of Rosemary, hit a spinning kick on Havok, and along with McKay, sent Havok into the ring post over and over again. Finish followed after a blind tag that Rosemary didn’t see, which allowed Lee to knee Rosemary, set up their finisher, and pin Rosemary to win the titles. Not the smoothest of matches, but there’s room to grow.

– Gia Miller interviewed Deonna Purrazzo about her defense tonight. Purrazzo complained that she is the victim because it’s been James that kept attacking her, but when she did it, they got punished while James got a title shot. Purrazzo said that James is not a legend to her and she will break James’ arms.

Trey Miguel defeated El Phantasmo and Steve Maclin to become the NEW X Division Champion.

After Josh Alexander relinquished the X Division title, a tournament to crown a new X Division championship started. All three men in this match won their qualifying 3-way matches, leading up to BFG.

Match started with all three men in the mix, trading control of the match. First off, Maclin took down Miguel, only to get taken out by ELP, who then got taken out by Miguel.

ELP and Maclin started to work together and take turns striking Miguel. ELP went for the titty twister on Maclin, but he didn’t sell it and instead took down ELP. Miguel came back with a submission on ELP, while he suplexed Maclin, but couldn’t keep them both down.

ELP and Maclin paired up with the former getting the upper hand, using his speed to hit a couple of moonsaults and walking the rope into a step-up-rana. ELP raked both men’s backs with theatrics.

Maclin and ELP once again started working together against Miguel, who took them down with a couple of running forearms, but was quickly cut off. Maclin hit a DDT and Flatliner combo on ELP and Miguel respectively, but couldn’t get a pin on either.

Maclin hit the running spear on ELP. Miguel went for a Lethal Injection, only to get caught with a spear to and into the floor. Maclin followed with a tope suicida on ELP and a flying hip attack on Miguel again. Maclin went for the top rope, but got cut off by ELP, who hit an Asai Moonsault, only to take a cutter on the floor by Miguel.

Miguel and Maclin traded near falls, until ELP cut them off. ELP powerbombed Maclin, hit a super rana, tossing Miguel into Maclin, followed with a plancha on Maclin for a big near fall. Maclin came back with a powerbomb on ELP for a near fall. Maclin blocked a Meteora, but took a couple of kicks by both Miguel and ELP.

ELP went for the low punch, but Miguel had a cup, followed by a couple of kicks and a deadlift brainbuster and Meteora for the win. Fantastic match.

– Miller interviewed Mickie James prior to her match. James acknowledged that Purrazzo may be her hardest challenge ever, but she made it personal by attacking her in her own home. James said that tonight, it will be more than the title, tonight she proves to herself that she can still be the champion.

Heath & Rhino defeated Violent By Design (Joe Doering & Deaner) (with Eric Young)

This story goes back to 2020, when Violent By Design attacked Heath and was sidelined, which would later be followed by Rhino joining Violent By Design and being brainwashed. VBD turned on Rhino a couple of weeks ago after he lost the tag team titles, but right as they were about to make an example out of Rhino, Heath made his comeback. Rhino is still not himself, but Heath believes he can convince Rhino to join him against VBD.

Rhino didn’t come out with Heath initially, so he started the match with the handicap. Deaner and Doering didn’t wait and jumped Heath.

Once the bell rang, Heath did get some offense on Deaner and Doering, but eventually the numbers game was too much and Deaner cut him off while Heath was distracted with Doering. VBD worked over Heath, who had a couple of comeback attempts, but Doering kept cutting him off.

Eventually, Rhino came out when Heath had managed to bring down Deaner. Heath tagged in Rhino, who ran wild over Deaner, hit a belly-to-belly on Deaner, hit Gore on Deaner, and picked  up the win. Not much of a match, but perfect for the angle.

After the match, Rhino and Heath embraced and celebrated together.

– Gia Miller interviewed Jordynne Grace about winning the Digital Media title. Grace talked about becoming the first ever triple crown woman in the promotion. Ellering talked about going for the Call Your Shot Gauntlet, but was interrupted by Moose and Morrissey, who said they were going to win.

Moose won the Call Your Shot Gauntlet

Chris Sabin was the number one entrant, after losing to Morrissey a couple of weeks ago, when the #20 spot was on the line. Rocky Romero was entrant number 2. We got two full minutes of Sabin vs Romero chain wrestling, stand-offs, and Romero’s sneaky style.

Entrant #3 was Madman Fulton, who easily overpowered both Sabin and Romero, who worked together to try to eliminate Fulton, with no avail.

#4 entrance was Rohit Raju, who came in and exchanged strikes with Sabin and Romero, and got a good amount of offense. Raju made an alliance with Fulton for the moment.

Tasha Steelz entered as number 5. Raju talked her into joining their little alliance. The numbers game was too much and Raju eliminated Romero.

Rachael Ellering was #6, she went immediately for Steelz, who she feuded with for months. Fulton tried to eliminate her, but she escaped and with the help of Sabin and Raju, eliminated Fulton.

Savannah Evans entered next as number 7 and joined her tag team partner. Steelz and Evans ganged up on Ellering, while Sabin and Raju paired up on the opposite corner. Ellering managed to eliminate Evans just as Johnny Swinger made his entrance as number 8.

We didn’t see Ellering’s elimination by Steelz since the camera focused on Swinger.

#9 entrant was Melina Perez. She went straight for Steelz, but was distracted by a hip-swinging Johnny Swinger. Entrant # 10 was The Demon, yes, WCW’s Demon! Johnny Swinger and I marked out. Swinger asked for an autograph, but instead got eliminated by the Demon. Swinger had been really popular with the crowd.

Brian Myers came out as #11, along with VSK and Zicky Dice as seconds. Myers paired up with The Demon, but couldn’t eliminate him.

#12 was Matt Cardona. The Learning Tree tried to attack him, but Cardona took them down and went straight for Myers in the ring. #13 entrant was Laredo Kid, who paired up with Raju. At this point, Melina eliminated Tasha Steelz, only to get eliminated by Myers.

Sam Beale came in as #14, he was fired from the Learning Tree on Thursday, but he still joined Myers to try and eliminate Cardona.

Rich Swann came in as #15. Swann and Myers have been feuding for some weeks, so he went straight for Beale and Myers, but in the distraction, Beale got the chance to eliminate Myers and took it.

Ace Austin made his entrance at number 16. He eliminated The Demon quickly. #17 entrant was Moose, who also came in strong, powerbombing Beale over the ropes over into Dice and VSK.

Entrant number 18 was Eddie Edwards, making his return after being sent to the hospital by Moose and Morrissey. Edwards tossed out Laredo Kid, who was used as a weapon by Moose, but afterwards, Edwards and Moose brawled to the floor, with Edwards hitting a tope through the middle rope. Moose hit an apron bomb. Alisha Edwards was #19, who brought out kendo sticks for Eddie and herself. They attacked Moose together, but #20 was previously set to be W. Morrissey.

Edwards and Alisha tried to gang up on Morrissey, but he overpowered them, and then military pressed Alisha to eliminate her. Morrissey and Moose joined up and eliminated Edwards fist.

Raju tried to make an alliance, but he was next to be eliminated.

Sabin eliminated Ace Austin, but Fulton came in and hit an End of Days on Sabin, leaving him ready for the elimination at the hands of Moose and Morrissey.

Final four were Cardona, Swann, Moose, and Morrissey. Morrissey was set to eliminate Swann, but Moose snuck up and eliminated both Swann and Morrissey.

Moose worked over Cardona for the final run, but Cardona made a comeback with a huge lariat. Cardona went for Radio Silence, but missed, only to take Moose’s Lights Out for the pin.

Moose has finally earned a singles shot for any title he chooses.

– Gia Miller interviewed Heath and Rhino. Heath talked about being sure that Rhino would end up coming out and backing him up.

Impact Tag Team Champions The Good Brothers (Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows) defeated The Bullet Club (Chris Bey & Hikuleo) and FinJuice (David Finlay & Juice Robinson) to retain their championships.

FinJuice and The Bullet Club have been feuding for months, but it was Anderson and Gallows’ idea to have them wrestle for a shot at the tag titles, as they felt that they had no competition left to wrestle. Both teams wrestled last Thursday, ending with a double pin that was later resolved by D’Amore by making this a 3-way match.

Finlay and Bey started the match with a fantastic sequence of counters and reversals. Robinson came in and continued working on Bey, but it wasn’t long before Gallows and Hikuleo tagged in for the big hoss clash.

Gallows and Hikuleo traded shoulder tackles and strikes, and it was the latter that managed to get the upper hand. Bey tagged in, but before he could take on Gallows, Finlay blind tagged himself against Anderson. The quick tags kept coming as Hikuleo tagged himself in and cut off Finlay. Bullet Club finally controlled the ring, keeping Finlay away from either corner. Eventually, Finlay got an opening to tag in Robinson, who ran wild against both opposing teams. Robinson got a great near fall after a big gut buster.

Match broke down as everyone came in and took turns to attack each other. Juice was the first up and cleared the ring for a superplex from Finlay, followed by Robinson’s plancha, but Anderson snuck in, threw Robinson out, and stole the pin. Good match, but a really underwhelming finish out of nowhere.

– Miller interviewed Christian Cage about his title defense tonight. Cage talked about the sacrifices he has made for Impact and that he’s not ready to pass the torch, nor is he ready to drop the title to Alexander.

Mickie James defeated Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo to become the NEW Champion.

This feud started back when Mickie James invited Deonna Purrazzo to participate in NWA’s Empower show. Purrazzo considered James’ approach as disrespectful, and things only escalated from there. These two have been waiting to get physical after D’Amore proclaimed a ‘no touch’ clause after things had become personal.

James jumped Purrazzo during the championship belt presentation, and immediately took the brawl to the floor and into the ramp area. Purrazzo was able to turn things around and pull James back to the ring by hair.

The match officially started when both women got in the ring. Purrazzo was now in complete control of the match, doing some initial work on James’ back. James started making attempts at a comeback, but Purrazzo kept cutting her off, at one point blocking a rana and turning it into a powerbomb.

James eventually caught Purrazzo with a forearm, followed by a double crossbody that left both women laying. James and Purrazzo traded strikes when James finally got some offense and her first pin attempt. James landed a rana and a Flapjack to bring Purrazzo down, followed with top rope takedown, but couldn’t capitalize and allowed Purrazzo to cut her off again.

Purrazzo started to chase the Queen’s Gambit, but James dodged, hit the Mickie-DT for a huge near fall. Commentary sold it as a move that hadn’t been kicked out before.

Distracted, James fell to Purrazzo’s offense again, now going for the Fujiwara armbar. Purrazzo went for Venus de Milo, but James made the ropes. Purrazzo hit Queen’s Gambit, but James kicked out, and this move I can confirm had never been kicked out of.

Purrazzo went for a chair, but referee Tolle took it away from her before she could use it. They wrestled on the top rope, where James accidentally took out the referee, but she did manage to fend off Purrazzo’s attempt to use the chair. James only got a two count.

Purrazzo blocked another top rope attempt with an armbar, brought down James with an armdrag, but she got cocky and taunted James, allowing James to hit a tornado DDT for the pin. Really good match.

Mickie James ends Purrazzo’s title reign and once again captures the Knockouts Championship. Half of the crowd looked upset at the end of Purrazzo’s reign.

– Hard To Kill will take place on January 8th in Dallas, TX. Next Impact+ special is Final Resolution.

Josh Alexander defeated Impact World Champion Christian Cage to become the NEW Champion!

After one of the best X Division reigns of the last decade, Josh Alexander relinquished the title for a shot at Christian Cage’s Impact World Championship. While this rivalry had been friendly for the most part, things escalated in the last couple of weeks as these men kept making comments on each other.

Match started with a minute long lock up that ended with Cage messing around with Alexander’s headgear, immediately trying to get in Alexander’s head and provoke that anger problem that Cage claims Alexander has. The match quickly escalated to a strike exchange, which ended badly for Cage, who was pushed off the top rope to the floor.

Both men kept trading momentum, countering each other. Cage countered a C4 attempt and sent Alexander to the floor, he tried to follow with a baseball slide, only for Alexander to counter into an ankle lock, which Cage countered, sending Alexander head-first into the guardrail.

Back in the ring, Cage was now in control of the ring, he started working on Alexander’s midsection. Alexander kept chopping his way into a comeback, until he hit a scary release German into the turnbuckles.

Alexander turned things around with a series of running kicks, and after surviving the 20 corner punches, dropped Cage with a powerbomb on his knee.

Cage started to chase the Killswitch at the same time Alexander tried to find the ankle lock. Alexander hit a rolling plunge and a jumping knee, but only got a two count. Cage came back with a tornado DDT for a two count for himself. Alexander dodged a spear into another German.

Alexander finally locked in the ankle lock, but transitioned into a sharpshooter after Cage tried to escape it. Cage made the ropes.

Alexander backdropped Cage from the top rope, but missed the moonsault. Cage followed with a spear, but Alexander kicked out at two. Cag went for Killswitch, but after failing to hit it, Cage snapped Alexander’s neck on the ropes instead. Cage hit a top rope splash, but only got a two again.

Cage blocked a C4, but couldn’t follow up. Alexander locked in the ankle lock, and held on at every attempt from Cage to turn. He stepped on Cage’s left hand and Cage had to tap out. Fantastic match.

Josh Alexander has won the Impact World Championship. Christian Cage himself strapped Alexander before embracing in the middle of the ring. Alexander was joined by his family for the celebration.

Suddenly, Moose ran in the ring and cashed out his Call Your Shot chance!

Moose defeated Impact World Champion Josh Alexander to become the NEW Champion!

Moose immediately hit Lights Out as Alexander tried to protect his family, pinned Alexander, and finally won the title!

Bound For Glory closed with Moose standing tall with the title.

Impact Wrestling live results: Bound for Glory summit

Thursday’s Impact Wrestling will feature a summit between World Champion Christian Cage and his Bound for Glory challenger Josh Alexander.

The two will come face-to-face following last week’s tag team match in which they united to defeat Ace Austin and Madman Fulton.

The tournament for the vacant X-Division Championship will also roll along as El Phantasmo will take on Willie Mack and Rohit Raju in a three-way match with the winner advancing to the three-way finals at Bound for Glory, joining Steve Maclin and Trey Miguel.

A 20-person battle royal with Bound For Glory implications will also take place. The winner will enter the Call Your Shot gauntlet match at number 20 while the last person eliminated will enter number one.

In other action, Rich Swann takes on VSK; Chris Bey battles Chris Sabin and Lady Frost takes on Savannah Evans as part of the aftermath of Knockouts Knockdown.

The BTI pre-show will see Hernandez take on Fallah Bahh.

Opening video recapped last week’s main event, with Christian Cage and Josh Alexander teaming up against Ace Austin and Madman Fulton, including the challenge done by Christopher Daniels, as he intends to chase the championship.

El Phantasmo (with The Bullet Club) defeated Wilie Mack & Rohit Raju in an X Division Championship match qualifier

The winner of this match advances to Bound For Glory, to face Trey Miguel and Steve Maclin in a 3-way for the vacant X Division Championship.

With Mack being the only babyface in the match, it started with Raju and ELP taking turns to pair up with Mack. ELP resorted to poke Mack’s eyes after he couldn’t contend with Mack’s strength. Mack was taken out for a minute to allow ELP and Raju to wrestle each other, but Mack quickly returned and took out Raju.

ELP got an early near fall after a dive on Raju and a swanton bomb on Mack. Afterwards, both men got their payback with rolling stomps on ELP, but Raju followed with a footstomp on Mack for a near fall.

Mack put both opponents down, hit a couple of running clotheslines and a double Samoan drop and moonsault, but couldn’t get the 3 count on either after taking too much time to capitalize. Mack countered Raju’s superplex attempt and set the frog splash, but ELP cut him off, threw Mack over Raju, and hit a big splash for a near fall. ELP went for the loaded superkick, which Mack blocked and followed with a stunner. When he went for the pin, Chris Bey and Hikuleo distracted the referee and him, so Mack took them out with a dive.

Back in the ring, Raju tried to steal the win, but ELP recovered, hit a low punch on Raju, superkicked Mack, and hit the CRII on Raju for the win.

It’ll be El Phantasmo vs Maclin vs Trey Miguel at Bound For Glory.

– Gia Miller interviewed Ace Austin and Fulton about entering the Call Your Shot Gauntlet tonight. Austin said he wasn’t done with Cage, but since Alexander had jumped in front of the line, he decided to enter the gauntlet to secure himself a win. He said that he and Fulton will be the final two and at Bound For Glory, he can come in at 20, while Fulton gets to destroy 18 other wrestlers one-by-one.

Savannah Evans (with Tasha Steelz) defeated Lady Frost

Evans is coming in with a big victory at Knockouts Knockdown, where she defeated Alisha Edwards, Kimber Lee, and Jordynne Grace in her first ever Monster’s Ball. Frost however, lost at the first round of the Knockouts Knockdown tournament against Rachael Ellering.

The match was close to a squash, Evans dominated Frost from the start with her power advantage. Frost did get some offense with short flurries, but Evans kept cutting her off. Towards the end, she did manage to hurt Evans with a couple of attacks to the midsection and legs, but Evans caught her with a clothesline and her full Nelson slam for the win.

After the match, Deonna Purrazzo came out with Matthew Rehwoldt. Purrazzo came out to recruit Savannah Evans as  Mickie James’ challenge in her Pick Your Poison match. Evans agreed. It’ll be Mickie James vs Savannah Evans in the go home show of Bound For Glory. Given this little set up with Purrazzo, the match with Frost made perfect sense.

– Steve Maclin cut a promo about his background, how he’s not a ‘ribbon chaser’, but he’s a fighter and only wants the title so he gets more challengers coming and he gets to take them out.

– Miller interviewed Gail Kim about the success of Knockouts Knockdown. Kim talked about the Daffney tribute, about signing Masha Slamovich, Mercedes MArtinez winning the tournament, and the news of The Inspiration joining Impact.

Havok and Rosemary approached Kim about how good the idea of bringing the Inspiration and sacrificing them to Decay. Suddenly, Kim got a letter from The Inspiration, where they put themselves over and confirmed that The Inspiration are most definitely coming in as heels.

Rich Swann (with Willie Mack) defeated VSK (with Brian Myers & The Learning Tree)

Swann and Mack have been crossing paths with Myers and his Learning Tree for the last couple of weeks.

Match started and VSK got control quite early, and he didn’t rely on tricks. VSK got a couple of early pins and focused his work on Swann’s head, but it wasn’t long for Swann to punch his way out and take down VSK with a series of kicks.

Swann hit a second rope phoenix splash for the win. Really short match, but VSK had enough offense to really call it a squash, even if it did take about three or four moves for Swann to win.

– Johnny Swinger and John E. Bravo packed up the final things left of Swinger’s Palace. Hernandez left,  Swingerella #1 revealed her feelings for Swinger, but Swinger turned her down like an idiot. The Swingerella #2, finally told us her name was Riley, asked Sabin out, but Sabin had one love, and it was wrestling.

Segment ended with a video of memories of Swinger’s Palace. It’s finally over. I’m a bit nostalgic about it.

– Heath and Scott D’Amore had a meeting about finalizing the contract negotiations that started nearly a year ago. Heath asked to book himself and Rhino against Violent By Design, but understandably, D’Amore didn’t know if he could even convince Rhino for the match. Heath promised that he will talk to Rhino, and if he can’t convince him, he’ll take on VBD by himself at Bound For Glory. D’Amore and Heath signed the contracts.

Chris Sabin (with FinJuice) defeated Chris Bey (with The Bullet Club)

Sabin recently joined FinJuice in their feud against the Bullet Club. Both groups have been feuding for some time, but the numbers have grown after El Phantasmo returned to Impact to back up Bey and Hikuleo.

Match had a great start with both men trading arm drags over and over again, but it wasn’t long before FinJuice and the Bullet Club got into a scuffle outside. Referee Tolle ended up sending everyone to the back.

Back in the ring, Sabin had a short flurry of offense, but Bey managed to cut him off, catching him between the ropes with a couple of kicks, followed by working his back. Sabin had some comeback attempts, but Bey kept him cut off.

Eventually, Sabin was able to soccer kick Bey during a rana attempt and follow it with a rolling fisherman suplex to finally get some momentum. Bey still came back with a failed art of finesse attempt and a jumping kick for near fall. Sabin got a near fall after rolling Bey after dodging his frog splash, but Bey kicked out at two.

Both men exchanged strikes, ending with a jumping enziguri and a cradle shock from Sabin for the win. Really good match.

– Miller interviewed Trey Miguel about facing ELP and Maclin at Bound For Glory. Miguel was talking about defeating Laredo Kid and Alex Zayne, but the latter interrupted him and told Miguel that Miguel only won because Zayne had done the work to take down Kid. Miguel challenged Zayne to a match to make sure there were no doubts that he was better than Zayne. This was pretty good.

– We got a promo from The Good Brothers, talking about them doing everything together and how they were spending their vacation together. They talked about Impact rejecting their booking proposal of a Bullet Club vs FinJuice number one contendership match, so they urged Impact to give them their Bound For Glory match before they were forced to cut off their vacation time and personally demand their match.

W. Morrissey won the battle royale to earn the number 20 spot in the Call Your Shot Gauntlet.

The winner of this match will enter the Call Your Shot gauntlet at number 20, while the runner up will have the number one spot of the match. While everyone in the gauntlet was eligible, there were a couple of absences like Rich Swann, who had already wrestled earlier in the night. The match was open to both men and women, with everyone starting in the ring.

Alisha Edwards was the first eliminated at the hands of Moose, followed by Swinger who jumped the ropes after Kimber Lee and Brandi Lauren scared him away.

Petey Williams was eliminated by Myers, but he was eliminated by Rachael Ellering after Myers had been saved by his Learning Tree once.

Laredo Kid was eliminated by Hernandez, followed by Taurus and Hernandez who eliminated themselves with a clothesline. Rehwoldt was eliminated by Matt Cardona. Raj Singh eliminated Ellering, only to get eliminated by Jake Something.

Fallah Bahh got eliminated during the commercial break.

Fulton and Austin eliminated Jake Something. Brandi Lauren and Kimber Lee tried to gang up on Ace Austin, but Fulton made the save and eliminated them, they did manage to poison mist him before being tossed out. Fulton also eliminated Matt Cardona with a pounce.

Moose and Morrissey went after Fulton, who managed to fight them off for a bit. Austin helped Fulton and almost eliminated Moose, but eventually, after Fulton came close to taking out both Moose and Morrissey, Fulton got eliminated while Sabin had Austin busy to help him.

Final four were Moose, Morrissey, Moose, and Sabin. Initially, all the heels ganged up on Sabin, but it wasn’t long before Morrissey and Moose also attacked Austin and eliminated him with dominance.

Morrissey and Moose took some turns to punish Sabin instead of eliminating him, but they gave Sabin enough space to trick Moose into the apron and eliminated him with a dropkick to the feet.

Sabin managed to take down Morrissey, but didn’t have the power to push him over the ropes. Morrissey simply cut off Sabin and tossed him over the ropes.

Morrissey will enter number 20 to the Call Your Shot Gauntlet, while Chris Sabin will have to enter at the number one spot.

– Next week, we’re getting Alex Zayne vs Trey Miguel, Mickie James vs Savannah Evans, and FinJuice vs Bullet Club for a shot at the Good Brothers.

– We got a vignette for Minoru Suzuki, coming soon to Impact.

– Josh Matthews moderated the summit between Christian Cage and Josh Alexander, prior to their title match at Bound For Glory.

First, Cage talked about his return to wrestling, how his return was a year long preparation before coming back. He wasn’t trying to just get his greatest hits in, he wanted to come back and become the best in the business.

Alexander talked about his road to this match, how being a tag team champion and the X Division champion and eventually wrestling Sabin, proved to himself that he needed to go for the big one. He had no regrets even if he lost to Cage.

Cage talked about how he and Alexander were not that similar once they met in the ring, to which Alexander considered they were more similar in how he had followed Cage’s career as he built his own.

Cage talked about the differences between being a champion now and his past reigns. He knew what it took to be on top, but Alexander wasn’t ready, he couldn’t control his emotions. Cage agreed he had followed Alexander’s career, and he knew he wasn’t ready to be on top.

They showed a video from an AEW press conference where Cage denied knowing who Alexander even was, at which point, Alexander told Cage he didn’t respect him and walked out.

Cage pointed out Alexander’s control of his emotions as the show ended.

Impact Wrestling live results: Christian & Josh Alexander team up

Impact World Champion Christian Cage is set to team up with his Bound For Glory challenger Josh Alexander against Ace Austin and Madman Fulton on Thursday’s Impact Wrestling.

This match comes after Alexander got involved in Fulton’s match last week with Christopher Daniels, causing Austin to vent his frustrations to Impact VP Scott D’Amore.

The war between the Bullet Club and FinJuice rages on as El Phantasmo teams with stablemates Hikuleo and Chris Bey to face off against David Finlay, Juice Robinson and Chris Sabin in a six-man tag team match. Sabin joined the fight against the Bullet Club last week, citing that he loves to beat up the group.

As Saturday’s Knockouts Knockdown special approaches, Mercedes Martinez will make her in-ring debut for the promotion when she teams with Tasha Steelz and Savannah Evans to take on Kimber Lee, Brandi Lauren and Lady Frost in a preview for Saturday.

Petey Williams, Black Taurus and Steve Maclin clash in another three-way first round matchup in the X-Division Championship tournament with the winner advancing to Bound for Glory.

Also, Heath will address the Impact faithful following his return last week.

The BTI pre-show will feature Laredo Kid vs. Matthew Rehwoldt.

Laredo Kid defeated Matthew Rehwoldt on BTI

* * * * * * * * * *

Opening video recapped last week’s Eddie Edwards vs W. Morrissey main event street fight that ended with Moose and Morrissey taking out Edwards. Also, Christopher Daniels’ first match on Impact in years.

Bullet Club (El Phantasmo, Chris Bey, & Hikuleo) defeated FinJuice (Juice Robinson & David Finlay) & Chris Sabin

FinJuice and the Bullet Club have been feuding for months now, ever since FinJuice returned, chasing after Jay White. As of late, El Phantasmo made his return to Impact, to reinforce Hikuleo and Bey, so in return, FinJuice recruited Chris Sabin to even the odds. Moreover, The Good Brothers proposed that whoever won this match, could be nominated as #1 contenders for the Impact tag team championships.

Match started with FinJuice and Sabin controlling the action, taking turns to punish ELP, but after some minutes, Robinson was a bit too overconfident trying to take on both ELP and Bey, but he ended up getting cut off from his corner. Hikuleo tagged in, but Robinson was too quick for him and managed to tag out and bring in Finlay.

Hikuleo came close to also cutting off Finlay, but he managed to take on all three men and tag in Sabin, who also had a short flurry of offense. With control of the ring, FinJuice and Sabin all hit dives on their opponents.

Last couple of minutes saw both teams go all tornado tag and take turns hitting signature moves and getting near falls, but at the end, it came down to Sabin and Bey, with the former setting up the cradle shock, but Hikuleo distracted the referee, allowing ELP to low blow Sabin, and the art of finesse from Bey for the win. Really good opener.

We may finally get an Elite vs Bullet Club match at Bound For Glory.

– Gia Miller interviewed Josh Alexander about teaming with Christian Cage. Alexander said that any other day, teaming with Cage would be an honor, but tonight, it’s a front row seat to show Cage what he will have to deal with at Bound For Glory.

– D’lo Brown and Josh Matthews ran down some of the matches scheduled for tonight and for Saturday’s Knockout Knockdown show.

– Heath came down to the ring after making his return last week, when he confronted Violent By Design. Heath brought up that he was sidelined for a whole year and for that whole year, Rhino disappeared from his side, but it wasn’t his fault, he knew it was all because of Eric Young’s involvement. Heath called out Rhino to talk, but instead he got Violent By Design.

Young told Heath that he had changed Rhino and got rid of the old Rhino that Heath knew. EY said he wasn’t Rhino in reaction to the fan’s chants, because Rhino belonged to him and he talked for Rhino. He told Heath to leave Impact because he had no more business there.

Heath rejected EY’s order and instead fought back at VBD’s threats. Heath was quickly taken down by Doering and kept down by Deaner. EY broke their flag pole over Heath’s back, but Rhino never came out for the save.

– Miller interviewed Willie Mack about his chances of qualifying to the Bound For Glory X Division match. While he talked, he was interrupted by Brian Myers’ Learning Tree, ending with Swann and Mack challenging them to match. Myers berated them for thinking they had a chance at defeating Swann and Mack after they had already defeated Myers and VSK last week.

Mercedes Martinez, Tasha Steelz, & Savannah Evans defeated Lady Frost, Brandi Lauren, & Kimber Lee

This is the first match we’ve officially seen of Lauren and Lee after becoming Su Yung’s Undead soldiers. This is also Mercedes Martinez debut for Impact. All these women will be part of Knockout’s Knockdown Impact+ special.

Match interestingly enough, had Lee and Lauren work as babyfaces, with the latter being the babyface in peril for some minutes. The story of the match however, was all about Tasha Steelz and Martinez not working together, at one point even antagonizing each other, leading up to the finish that saw Steelz steal the pin from Martinez.

Both Martinez and Steelz are part of the Knockouts Knockdown tournament, with the potential of facing each other until the finals.

After the match, we saw Alisha Edwards attack Kimber Lee and Brandi Lauren after they had ‘killed’ one of Swinger’s valets, who were supposedly Alisha’s friends. Edwards challenged Kimber Lee, but instead Gail Kim added her to the Knockouts Knockout Monster’s Ball against Kimber Lee, Jordynne Grace, and Savannah Evans. The match will honor the memory of Daffney. Good little angle to set up the match, but the heat felt forced, Alisha is retaliating almost a month after the incident.

– We got a new installment of “All About Me” with Tenille Dashwood, Madison Rayne, and Kaleb. They talked about winning the titles at Knockouts Knockdown and their new team called The Collab.

Their special guest interviewers were Decay, but it became a joke of Dashwood swearing a lot. Rosemary asked Dashwood and Rayne if they felt lucky for Saturday, but Dashwood tried to cancel the interview. Rosemary threatened to not over take over their show set, but for their demons to possess their bodies.

– Moose and Morrissey cut a promo about sending Edwards and Callihan to the hospital. They talked about having an alliance and how they’re entering the Call Your Shot Gauntlet and dominate as an alliance until it comes down to them. They’re such a great unit.

Steve Maclin defeated Petey Williams & Black Taurus in an X Division Championship match qualifier

The winner of this match advances to the Bound For Glory X Division 3-way match, against the already qualified Trey Miguel.

Match started with Taurus and Williams wrestling after Maclin had been taken out, Williams got most of the offense, the sequence ended with a tornillo by Taurus on Maclin and a baseball slide from Williams on Taurus.

Back in the ring, all three men took more turns to pair up together and trade momentum. Maclin first took out Williams, then he got taken out by Taurus, then Williams came back and took out both, when he started to tease the destroyer.

All three men exchanged strikes in the middle of the ring with Taurus getting a near fall after a crucifix bomb. Taurus blocked the destroyer and went for a superplex, but was cut off by Maclin, who took him out, hit the corner spear on Williams. Finish finally saw Williams hit the destroyer on Taurus, only for Maclin to run in and hit mayhem for all on Williams for the win.

Steve Maclin once again steals the win from William and advances to Bound For Glory.

– Gia Miller interviewed Christian Cage about teaming with Josh Alexander. He pretty much said the same thing as Alexander, but having the best seat in the room to realize that Alexander is not on Cage’s level.

Afterwards, Christopher Daniels confronted Cage and told him he is there to win the title he never won.

– Over at Swinger’s Palace, they’re all packed up after being shut down by Scott D’Amore last week. Fallah Bahh walked to tell them they got what they deserved.

Rich Swann & Willie Mack defeated The Learning Tree (Manny Lemons & Zicky Dice)

This was a squash. Swann and Mack first worked over Dice, and when Dice ran away, Lemons came in to get punished by Swann and Mack. Swann pinned Lemons after an elevated neckbreaker.

After the match, Myers, VSK, and Sam Beale all ran down and jumped Mack and Swann. This angle felt like Swann and Mack may not go on separate paths for Bound For Glory after all.

– Scott D’Amore and Gail Kim met with Deonna Purrazzo about her attack on Mickie James last week in James’ house. James rushed into the office and tried to jump Purrazzo, but D’Amore, Kim, and Rehwoldt managed to separate them. D’Amore implemented a no-touch clause, where if James attacks Purrazzo, she loses her title shot, if Purrazzo attacks James, she will be stripped of the title.

Kim decided to book a Pick Your Poison set of matches, Purrazzo must defend her title at Knockouts Knockdown against James’ pick first.

Impact World Champion Christian Cage & Josh Alexander defeated Ace Austin & Madman Fulton

Cage and Alexander are scheduled to wrestle for the Impact World title at Bound For Glory after Alexander relinquished the X Division title under Option C rules and challenged Cage. Yet, ever since before Victory Road, Cage has feuded with Ace Austin when he was the #1 contender. This match came up after Austin and Fulton decided to go after both Alexander and Cage.

Match started with Fulton and Cage, with both men trading control a couple of times, Fulton at one point even took down both Cage and Alexander at the same time. Fulton cut off Alexander when he tagged in.

Austin and Fulton kept Alexander at bay for a good couple of minutes before Alexander broke away from Austin to tag out. Cage came in with the hot tag on Austin, but he was also eventually cut off when he distracted himself with Fulton on the apron, allowing Austin to kick him down and tag in Fulton to finalize the isolation.

Cage was the babyface in peril until he got the opening to take down Austin with a desperation spear. Alexander took on Fulton and managed to get him up for a blue thunder bomb and a series of Germans, but Fulton eventually pushed Alexander back to his corner. Fulton went to chokeslam Alexander, but Cage saved the match, took out Fulton outside the ring, leaving the ring for Alexander to lock in the ankle lock on Austin. Cage blind tagged himself and hit the killswitch on Austin after Alexander had hit chaos theory. Good main event.

Cage and Alexander never showed dissension until the very last spot. Both men exchanged some words after the match, but left it at words.

Christian Cage vs. Josh Alexander set for Impact Bound for Glory

Josh Alexander is set to challenge Impact World Champion Christian Cage at Bound for Glory next month.

At tonight’s Victory Road event, Christian Cage successfully retained the Impact World title, defeating Ace Austin. After the match, Alexander came down and told told Christian that he opted to exercise “option C”, which is when the X Division Champion vacates the title to earn a shot at  Impact’s World Championship. The two then had a staredown to close out the show.

Alexander also was successful tonight at Victory Road, defeating Chris Sabin to retain the X Division title.

Cage, who is a AEW-contracted star, has been making appearances on Impact Wrestling since winning the Impact title from Kenny Omega on the first episode of AEW Rampage on August 13. Aside from tonight’s defense against Austin, he also defeated Brian Myers at Impact’s Emergence event, which aired on August 16.

Bound for Glory will take place at Sam’s Town Live in Las Vegas, Nevada on October 23.
