AEW Dynamite live results: TNT title match, All Out fallout

Excalibur, Jim Ross and Tony Schiavone were the broadcast team.

**********

Schiavone opened the show by interviewing Chris Jericho and MJF as they arrived at the building. Jericho and MJF played fake nice with each other. Each told the other that they had been screwed at All Out and would be AEW Champion soon.

As they walked away, each called the other an idiot.

Funny.

**********

Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus (w/Marko Stunt) defeated Penta El Zero M & Rey Fenix (w/Eddie Kingston, Butcher & Blade)

This was a good opener but maybe a notch below what you would expect from these teams.

Jungle Boy and Fenix began with a hot sequence. Jungle Boy hit a suicide dive. Jungle Boy tried to use Luchasaurus as a launch pad but slipped. The announcers cited the heat as the reason for the botch.

Jungle Boy got cut off and worked over. There were two separate heat segments on Jungle Boy. Luchasaurus got two hot tags and ran wild with chops and kicks both times.

Luchasaurus made a tag to Jungle Boy. Penta and Fenix hit their package driver/double stomp combo but Jungle Boy kicked out.

For the finish, Fenix came off the top with a flying attack. Jungle Boy moved out of the way and Fenix hit Penta. Jungle Boy rolled up Penta for the pin.

***********

They teased dissension within this group that has been together for a few weeks after the match. Penta and Fenix had to be pulled apart.

Kingston cut a strong promo and said he’s there for them, they’re his best friends and they all have each other’s backs.

He also made a reference to PAC not being there for them and made a reference to someone’s wife not being there for them, that went over my head.

Everyone made up and Kingston closed the promo by saying he was never eliminated from the Casino Battle Royale at All Out and to read the rules if we don’t believe him.

**********

The announcers showed highlights from Mox/MJF at All Out and pushed that the PPV replay is available for purchase. They were really pushing the replay hard.

The announcers previewed the rest of the show.

**********

Lance Archer and Jake Roberts cut a promo on Moxley. They were standing in a rainy alley.

Roberts said they were getting wet and enjoying it and they were going to make Moxley pee himself.

Archer said Moxley has been champ for too long and he’s sick of it.

**********

Matt Hardy came to the ring for a promo. He said it was great to be in front of a live audience and thanked everyone watching at home.

He said he took a scary fall and was grateful for the amazing outpouring of love and support from the fans.

He said that after a myriad of tests he was expected to make a 100 percent full recovery.

Matt pointed out his “I Don’t Die” shirt. He said he might be the dumbest man alive but he’s for sure the luckiest. He pointed out his family, his wife Reby was in the crowd with one of their children.

He apologized to the fans for the match at All Out not being what he wanted it to be. He said maybe it’s best that his feud with Sammy Guevara is over because if things had kept ramping up someone could have been seriously hurt.

Matt said that once he’s cleared he’s going to get ranked and get his first AEW championship. He said his journey is far from over and the fans are the best.

Excellent babyface promo.

**********

Orange Cassidy defeated Angelico (w/Jack Evans)

This was a little bit more than a squash in that Angelico got some offense but it was super quick.

Angelico worked over Cassidy’s legs with a variety of holds.

Cassidy made a quick comeback and hit a suicide dive and a high cross off the top for a near fall.

Cassidy hit the Orange Punch for the pin.

**********

Santana and Ortiz ran in and attacked Cassidy after the match. Trent and Chuck ran in to make the save.

Trent and Chuck challenged Santana and Ortiz to a fight in the parking lot next week.

**********

Alex Marvez knocked on the Young Bucks’ locker room door. They opened the door and hit him with a tandem superkick.

**********

The Best Man

Tony Schiavone was in the ring. He called out Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford for Sabian to reveal his best man for their wedding.

Sabian plugged his Twitch channel and asked Schiavone to leave the ring. Sabian introduced his best man. Indie wrestler Puf entered first. He wasn’t the best man. Brian Pillman Jr. entered. He was also not the best man.

Miro, the former Rusev, then entered. He is the best man. The announcers said that maybe because Miro and Sabian are both big on Twitch they found a kinship.

Miro said after ten years in the same house with a glass ceiling and an imaginary brass ring, you can shove that brass ring up your ass.

Miro said he’s not just a best man, he’s THE best man. He said if you tune into Twitch you know he’s the best gamer and if you tune in to “right here” you’ll see him destroy people very night.

Miro said elite recognizes elite and he is All Elite.

**********

Tony Schiavone interviewed Hangman Page. Page had his glass of whiskey with him.

Schiavone asked how Page was doing. Page gave a stock answer. Schiavone pressed him for a more honest answer.

Page said that it felt inevitable that he and Kenny Omega were going to split at All Out but it didn’t have to be that way.

He said it was his fault that FTR were in a position to challenge for the titles and he made a mistake in thinking that because the looked like him and talked like him that they were like him.

Page said that he and Kenny had a lot of problems but a lot of wins. He said not having the titles is a challenge but they’ll climb their way back to the top.

So they’re presenting this as if Page is assuming they’re still a team.

Lots of guys in their 30s talking about their feelings on this wrestling show.

**********

Chris Jericho & Jake Hager defeated Joey Janela & Sonny Kiss in a no DQ match

This was a decent brawl that picked up the pace and intensity after a commercial break.

Janela scored some early offense on Jericho. Janela pulled a chair from under the ring and used it. He set it up to use as a launch pad for a leg lariat in the corner but Jericho blocked and hit a suplex onto the legs of the chair.

Janela was cut off and worked over during a break. Kiss got a tag and made a comeback after the commercial break. Hager set up a table on the floor. Hager and Jericho threw Janela off the stage through the table.

Kiss hit a dive to the stage to both Hager and Jericho. Kiss went to the top rope. Jericho sprayed Kiss with a fire extinguisher. Hager then hit Kiss with a uranage and pinned Kiss with a head and arm choke.

**********

Jericho cut a promo after the match. He said All Out was a terrible night for The Inner Circle, his boots still smell like rotten orange and Sammy is home injured.

Jericho said it’s time to turn it all around and he and Hager want the Tag Team titles.

**********

MJF cut a promo backstage in his campaign headquarters. He said Moxley cheated at All Out but he doesn’t blame him because it’s in his nature.

MJF said the campaign staff is to blame and fired them all.

MJF then turned his attention to Wardlow. MJF said they shouldn’t have a problem because he signs Wardlow’s checks, not AEW.

MJF asked if they had a problem, because if they did, he would have to put Wardlow and his family on the street.

MJF said now is not the time for aggression, it’s time to plan how to get back on top.

**********

Moxley cut a promo. He said as if he didn’t have enough on his plate he saw out of the corner of his eye that Lance Archer won the battle royale Saturday night.

Moxley said it doesn’t get any easier for him now with Archer. He said Archer is a monster. But we need to ask ourselves, would you really bet against Moxley right now?

**********

Tully Blanchard and FTR were in the ring for a celebration. Some members of the tag division were surrounding the ring.

Tully put over FTR as the best team in the world. Cash said they are undefeated but they had to fight their way to the top. Cash pointed out SCU and said imagine the matches they could have had if SCU were still in their prime.

Dax cut a promo and said they’re now the locker room leaders. Dax pointed out Jurassic Express and said they get a non-title match with them next week.

Jurassic Express jumped in to face off with FTR. FTR begged off, then threw alcohol in Luchasaurus’s eyes.

FTR rolled outside. Jurassic Express dumped a cooler of ice on them. The remaining teams cut cake slices for each other while FTR and Tully left.

This felt like a bad WWE skit.

***********

Taz joined the announce team. Ricky Starks entered and did a promo dressed as Darby Allin.

Starks mocked Allin for getting hurt all the time and said the nex time Allin shows up, Absolute Ricky Starks is going to absolutely kick his ass.

**********

Nyla Rose (w/Vickie Guerrero) defeated Tay Conti

Conti was nearly in tears as she entered, clearly this meant a lot to her after signing today.

The match was a little bit clunky but a step up from most AEW women’s division matches.

Conti tried a rolling kneebar. Rose fought free and hit a splash in the corner. Vickie Guerrero interfered and raked Conti’s eyes.

They fought to the floor. Conti sent Rose into the barricade and posted her. Conti hit a second rope crossbody for a near fall during an ad break.

Conti tried a springboard sunset flip but Rose blocked. Rose teased a Beast Bomb. Conti blocked and used a triangle choke.

Rose used a Beast Bomb to escape the choke and pinned Conti.

The announcers started talking about how The Young Bucks had been fined for attacking Marvez earlier and how Cody will have a big announcement after the show.

Excalibur kept trying to bring it back to the action but JR and Tony were plugging other stuff.

**********

After the match, Rose continued beating down Conti. Hikaru Shida ran in for the save with a kendo stick.

The announcers mentioned Conti’s offer from Dark Order, which it seemed that sh had accepted on TV a couple of weeks ago. There were no Dark Order teases at all here and Conti was clearly a babyface.

**********

The announcers again said that the Bucks had been fined.

JR threw to a sit-down interview he had done with Omega earlier in the day. This is the best use of JR, by the way.

Omega said winning and losing titles comes with being a pro. He said there’s no reconciliation plan for him with Page and it’s time for him to be the ace he thought he would be and be a singles star.

This was great and worth going out of your way to see.

**********

Moxley vs. Archer for the AEW Championship was announced for October 14.

Best Friends vs. Santana & Ortiz in a parking lot fight, FTR vs. Jurassic Express in a non-title match. Thunder Rosa vs. Ivelisse for the NWA Women’s World title, Jericho and Hager vs. Private Party, Hangman Page vs. Frankie Kazarian were announced for next week.

The main event is next.

**********

TNT Championship match: Mr. Brodie Lee (w/John Silver) defeated Dustin Rhodes to retain the title

These guys beat the hell out of each other. This was an excellent brawl and very physical.

Rhodes attacked Lee during the ring introductions. They brawled around ringside with Rhodes maintaining the upper hand.

They made it back to the ring where Lee turned the tide and hit some chops. They traded chops. Lee hit some palm strikes. Lee hit a slingshot in the ropes and had the advantage before the final ad break.

Rhodes started his comeback after the break. He hit a bulldog, a hurricanrana and a destroyer for a two count. Dustin hit a Cross Rhodes for another two count.

Lee came back with a powerbomb but missed a big boot. Silver took the ref. Dustin hit the unnatural kick on Lee. Rhodes dispatched Silver with a powerslam. Dustin hit a piledriver on Lee for another near fall.

Dustin avoided a boss man slam. Lee blocked a strike and hit the discus lariat for the pin.

**********

Dark Order came to the ring after the match. They dragged the lifeless body of QT Marshall with them.

Lee kicked Cabana out, still upset with him for blowing their win at All Out.

Lee kicked Dustin low and the announcers threw to… Cody.

**********

Cody said he’s injured and has come up with a new concept in a quarantine bubble in Macon, Georgia.

Cody then threw to a commercial for the Go Big talent show on TBS, hosted by Bert Kreischer.

Jennifer Nettles, Rosario Dawson, Snoop Dogg and Cody will be the judges.

This was technically the final segment of Dynamite, a commercial for a talent show.

Dynamite will be back next Wednesday or Thursday depending on the NBA Playoffs.

Sabian’s best man, TNT title match announced for AEW Dynamite

Kip Sabian will announce his ‘best man’ for his upcoming wedding on this week’s Dynamite, while a TNT title match has also been announced.

Sabian and Penelope Ford were shown on tonight’s All In event, with Sabian announcing that they were getting married, and it will take place live on AEW Dynamite. Sabian mentioned that with every wedding, there is a bachelor party, and the best man is usually the person who sets up the bachelor party.

Interviewer Alex Marvez asked Sabian who his best man was. Sabian said he would introduce him on Dynamite this week.

Dustin Rhodes, meanwhile, will get a TNT title match against Brodie Lee this Wednesday. Rhodes got the shot after his team defeated the Dark Order tonight at All Out, with Dustin pinning Cabana.

After the match, Tony Schiavone made the announcement to Rhodes. Dustin, shocked, said this was the first time in a while he’s had a shot at the gold and promised to bring hell to Brodie Lee.

Report —

The Dark Order dominated episode 218 of Being The Elite.

Dark Order celebrated Brodie Lee’s TNT Championship win in their locker room with food from Chili’s. They then discussed how each member spent their Chili’s endorsement deal money:

  • Alex Reynolds spent $1 million on tap dancing lessons.
  • Evil Uno bought a cardboard Brodie Lee cutout.
  • 10 bought guns.
  • 5 bought hair implants.
  • John Silver bought beer.
  • Lee bought six riding lawnmowers even though he doesn’t have a lawn to taunt Hangman Page.

A “F*ck Hangman” chant broke out in the Dark Order locker room. Lee gave Silver a hip toss onto a table.

Other highlights included:

  • The Young Bucks were shown hanging out at Dynamite, then signing inserts for their upcoming book.
  • Peter Avalon, Brandon Cutler and Leva Bates are tired of losing matches and can’t agree on whether or not to cheat to win their matches.
  • Matt Hardy asked The Bucks to fire Sammy Guevara after he gives Sammy a receipt for busting him open with a chair.
  • Christopher Daniels did a parody of a Life Alert commercial. This was great.
  • Guevara, Silver, Reynolds, Alex Abrahantes, Jake Hager, Willie Urbina, Marko Stunt, Santana and Ortiz had a Zoom call. This was a prolonged masturbation joke.
  • Kenny Omega and Hangman Page met Madusa backstage. Page looked Madusa in the eye and turned to stone.
  • Best Friends and Orange Cassidy set a trap to try to kill Cutler.
  • Colt Cabana met with Doc Sampson. Cabana’s face is completely covered in gold foil. He asked for Sampson to perform an experimental surgery to make him normal again. Sampson reluctantly agreed and the show ended with the surgery not going well.

Cody update set for next AEW Dynamite

AEW will give an update on Cody’s condition on the next Dynamite.

Their social media confirmed that an update will be given next next week following an attack that took place at the end of Saturday’s Dynamite.

Cody was set to defend the TNT title in the main event against Mr. Brodie Lee. Lee completely dominated the match, pinning Cody relatively quickly with the discus lariat to win the championship, ending Cody’s run with the title after 91 days.

Lee and the rest of the Dark Order eventually attacked Cody, preventing him from getting medical help. The rest of  the Nightmare Family (Dustin Rhodes and QT Marshall) were laid out as Lee attacked Cody with a satchel. Brandi Rhodes came out to shield her husband from further attack, but was choked out by The Dark Order’s Anna Jay.

Lee finished the assault by dumping the contents of the satchel on Cody: the remnants of the former TNT title.

Due to the NBA playoffs, This week’s episode of Dynamite will air on Thursday at 8 p.m. ET.

AEW Dynamite video highlights: New TNT Champion crowned

Mr. Brodie Lee defeated Cody to win the TNT Championship in the main event of last night’s AEW Dynamite.

Lee beat Cody in what was essentially a squash match and his Dark Order faction left Cody’s Nightmare Family laying at the end of the show.

FTR continued their climb to the top of the tag team division with a win over Private Party in the show opener. FTR also revealed that they have aligned themselves with Tully Blanchard who accompanied them to ringside for the match.

Matt Hardy and Sammy Guevara’s feud continued last night. Hardy attacked Guevara with a chair, then sent him through a table. The two are scheduled to meet on Thursday’s Dynamite in a tables match.

MJF will challenge AEW World Champion Jon Moxley for the title at All Out on September 5, but last night MJF was in a neck brace and threatened legal action against Moxley unless Moxley agrees to not use the Paradigm Shift in their match.

The Elite trio of The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega defeated 3, 4 and 5 of The Dark Order, but the real story came after the match when Omega had to be pulled away from 5 by The Bucks for dishing out too much punishment.

Diamante and Ivelisse won the inaugural AEW Women’s Tag Team Cup tournament, scoring a victory over Brandi Rhodes and Allie.

Chris Jericho also challenged Orange Cassidy to a Mimosa Mayhem match at All Out, then had The Inner Circle beat down Cassidy and Best Friends.

*********

Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone and Taz were the announce team for the show.

The show began with the opening bell for the first match.

FTR (w/Tully Blanchard) defeated Private Party

I was wondering if I had missed an angle with Blanchard joining up with FTR but apparently not. Here Tully was with an FTR jacket.

The match started with a solid exchange, both teams trading offense. FTR eventually cut off Marq Quen. This was clunky at times as Quen is the greener half of Private Party. Harwood and Wheeler worked over Quen.

They built to a hot tag to Isiah Kassidy. Kassidy hit a springboard cutter on Wheeler and a slingshot cutter on Harwood for a near fall. Quen blind tagged in and hit a springboard crossbody for another two count.

Quen and Wheeler ended up the legal men. Kassidy tried a plancha to Harwood but Blanchard pulled Harwood out of the way and Kassidy crashed to the floor.

Harwood tagged back in and FTR hit the Goodnight Express for the pin.

**********

The sound mix was way off for this show. The crowd sweetening was drowning out the announcers.

**********

Jon Moxley cut a good promo. He said MJF’s campaign makes for good TV and it’s entertaining but he doesn’t need to hear his faults from MJF. He said if you want a list of his faults just ask his wife.

Moxley said he doesn’t like people who constantly talk about themselves like MJF does. He said all MJF’s talking makes him think MJF is hiding something.

He said he hopes MJF is who he says he is, the man to carry the company for decades. Moxley said he wants the company to succeed for years and years and most days Mox thinks he might not have another 18 months left he’s so beat up.  He said he hopes MJF can also move out of his parents’ basement and lose his virginity.

Moxley promised to punch, kick, elbow and smash MJF’s skull with his skull on September 5. He said MJF will be champ one day but that day won’t be September 5.

**********

MJF cut a promo surrounded by his campaign staff and legal team. He was wearing a neck brace.

MJF compared Dictator Jon to Nixon and Castro. He said that the Paradigm Shift is an abomination and has left him mangled. MJF said he wants to have a family one day, with kids, he clarified. He said he won’t be able to play catch with his kids as a result of the Paradigm Shift.

MJF’s lawyer took over from there and cut a promo. He mentioned an online petition to ban the Paradigm Shift, which could be deadly according to some medical experts he’s talked to.

The lawyer said that if Mox doesn’t agree to ban the Paradigm Shift from his title defense against MJF he’ll sue him and wants him to sign the contract he’s drawn up banning the move.

This was a paint by numbers old school rassling angle the likes of which we rarely see any more. Good times.

**********

Luchasaurus, Jungle Boy, Dustin Rhodes & QT Marshall defeated Butcher, Blade, Rey Fenix & Pentagon Jr.

This began with a wild sequence that saw Pentagon and Fenix hit stereo topes. The heels beat on QT for a bit. QT managed a tag to Rhodes. Rhodes got cut off and worked over through a commercial break.

Luchasaurus got a hot tag after the break. Jungle Boy went for a tope suicida on Butcher but Butcher didn’t catch him. Jungle Boy hit a tope suicida on Fenix, then a tope con giro on Butcher and Blade, showing tremendous confidence that they would catch him after dropping him moments before.

Luchasaurus hit some kicks. He hit a rough looking chokeslam on Pentagon and a standing moonsault. Everyone jumped in for big moves. Dustin hit a destroyer but didn’t get all of it and almost landed on his head. He should probably retire that one.

Jungle Boy and Blade ended up the legal men. Blade and Pentagon argued over who should hit their finish on Jungle Boy, allowing Jungle Boy to roll up Blade for the pin.

**********

After the match, Lucha Bros and Butcher and Blade started pushing and shoving.

Eddie Kingston entered and cut a good promo. He said that they all came from the indies and now they’re on TNT. He said TNT knows drama but that doesn’t mean there shoud be drama between the five of them.

Kingston said the only thing holding them back from being champs was a lack of unity. He said to stick together and stick with him, so those five look to be a new group.

**********

They showed a Dr. Britt Baker vignette. Baker and Reba were in a gym with Penelope Ford and Kip Sabian. Ford and Sabian were making out. Baker warned them that the number one cavity-causing bacteria is spread through human saliva and they’ve been spreading a lot back and forth.

Baker offered them a year of free dental care if they joined Reba and her in a handicap match against Big Swole. Sabian and Ford didn’t answer.

Baker then offered a year of free makeup from Reba for Ford if they accepted. Ford agreed. All Sabian cared about was going back to making out.

**********

Tony Schiavone introduced Orange Cassidy. Cassidy came to the ring with Best Friends. Before he spoke, Chris Jericho interrupted.

Jericho came to the stage and put Cassidy over with a total babyface promo. He said he’s only been pinned three times in AEW and Cassidy has a win over him.

Jericho challenged Cassidy to a rubber match at All Out. Jericho said he created one of the most famous gimmick matches ever involving a briefcase and a ladder. Jericho said he’s done it again and threw to a video package.

The video detailed the rules of a Mimosa Mayhem Match.

500 cases of champagne will be mixed in a tank at ringside with 80 gallons of orange juice. You win by pinfall, submission or throwing your opponent in the tank.

Cassidy accepted the challenge.

Jericho came to the ring with champagne to toast Cassidy and Best Friends, but called out Inner Circle first.

Inner Circle surrounded the ring and attacked on Jericho’s signal. Jericho and Inner Circle left Cassidy and Best Friends laying and Jericho poured champagne all over Cassidy.

**********

The Elite defeated The Dark Order

This was a very good match.

This started off as you would expect with The Elite taking most of the offense. Things turned when Matt’s series of northern lights suplexes was interrupted. Matt was briefly victim of a 3-on-1 but managed a tag to Omega. Omega got cut off and worked over through an ad break.

Nick Jackson’s hot tag began during a commercial break which is just brutal timing. The Bucks went for an Indytaker but it was blocked. Silver got a near fall off a double stomp.

The action really intensified near the finish. Nick hit a crazy series of dives. Omega helped The Bucks hit an assisted Indytaker on Angels. Omega then used the One-Winged Angel on Angels for the pin.

**********

Omega continued assaulting Angels after the match. The Bucks tried to talk sense to him but he acted unhinged before finally calming down.

I’m not a fan of teasing dissent between members of The Elite. They have done this constantly for months and months, first with Page and now with Omega. This has to pay off at some point, right?

**********

Alex Marvez was with FTR and Blanchard backstage.

Marvez announced a gauntlet match on next week’s Dynamite to determine Page and Omega’s challnegers at All Out.

The match will begin with  fourth-ranked Natural Nightmares and third-ranked Young Bucks. The winner of that match will immediately face the second-ranked Best Friends. The winner of that match will face top-ranked FTR.

Marvez then interviewed FTR and Blanchard. He asked what the relationship between them was. Wheeler said they want to learn from the best. Blanchard said he’s going to take FTR from almost to crossing the threshold.

Page entered and confronted FTR for attacking Rock ‘n’ Roll Express last week. They said that was their business and didn’t concern him. Wheeler said they wanted to honor Rock ‘n’ Roll but they turned their backs on them.

Harwood said he had to fake a knee injury because after seven years of The Bucks talking trash about FTR he had to know if he could trust them. He said when he was pretending to be hurt only Wheeler and Page came to check on them.

Harwood then tried to convince Page that it would be best for him if The bucks didn’t win the gauntlet because they’d keep him in their shadow.

So the tease is that Page might turn on The Bucks next week on Dynamite so he and Omega can defend against his buddies FTR at All Out.

There are about three months worth of storylines that have played out in about six minutes of TV with this FTR angle.

**********

Darby Allin defeated Will Hobbs

Allin ran in and attacked before the opening bell. He hit a tope suicida. Hobbs took over and hit a backdrop and a spinebuster.

Allin answered with a springboard elbow and a Coffin Drop for the pin.

**********

Taz cut a promo from the announce desk immediately after the match. He said Team Taz is rolling. He introduced the newest member of Team Taz, Darby.

Ricky Starks came out dressed as Darby. He cut a promo mocking Allin’s persona. Taz did some obnoxious fake laughing.

Brian Cage attacked Allin from behind. Starks then came to the ring and cut a strong promo on Allin before laying him out with a skateboard shot.

Starks hit a Coffin Drop on Allin and the segment ended with Starks and Cage posing over Allin.

***********

They shot an angle during a commercial break.

Sammy Guevara came to the stage with his Love Actually cards to send Matt Hardy a message.

Hardy attacked Guevara with a chair and laid him out.

Please don’t shoot angles during commercials. Thanks.

Hardy continued the attack after the break. He threw Guevara off the stage through a table.

Hardy grabbed the same kind of chair that Guevara busted him open with a couple of weeks ago and threatened to use it but referees intervened.

**********

Schiavone threw to a pre-taped promo from NWA Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa.

Rosa cut a great promo. She said she heard Shida’s call for challengers and she’s hear to help. Rosa said she will take Hikaru Shida’s AEW Women’s World Championship from her at the PPV.

Rosa is a good worker and a good talker so that match should be something to look forward to.

**********

Veda Scott joined the announce desk for the Deadly Draw Finals. Shaul Guerrero was the special ring announcer.

**********

AEW Women’s Tag Team Cup finals: Ivelisse & Diamante defeated Nightmare Sisters (w/ Natural Nightmares) to win the tournament

This match should not have aired on international television.

Brandi and Ivelisse began and traded a couple of spots before Allie and Diamante tagged in. Diamante got cut off and worked over through a commercial break.

Brandi and Ivelisse got tags. Brandi hit a spear. Allie and Diamante tagged back in. Allie hit Rabbit Hole for a near fall. Brandi teased a pedigree on Ivelisse but got tossed outside.

Marshall jumped on the apron. Ivelisse bumped him off the apron. Diamante hit something resembling a cutter and pinned Allie.

**********

Madusa was their to present medals, flowers and the cup to the winners. Diamante and Ivelisse threw the flowers down and celebrated with Puerto Rican flags.

All of this felt rushed and the match was awful.

If you would like to look on the bright side, Veda Scott was good on commentary, no easy feat in that particular booth.

**********

Jericho on commentary, the tag team gauntlet match, Matt Hardy vs. Sammy Guevara in a tables match, a Moxley/MJF contract signing and Big Swole vs. Britt Baker in a handicap match were announced for next week’s Dynamite.

The main event is next.

**********

TNT Championship match: Mr. Brodie Lee defeated Cody (w/Arn Anderson) to win the title

Cody tried a flurry of strikes at the opening bell. Lee came back right away with a dropkick before throwing Cody over the top rope to the floor. Lee sent Cody into the barricade and tossed some chairs around.

Back inside, Lee hit a half-and-half suplex and a release German.

Lee hit a discus lariat. Cody took a flip bump and got pinned in a total squash match.

**********

Dark Order came to the ring to celebrate with Lee. Tony Schiavone went to the ring to interview Lee.

Lee said he has the power and the say-so now that he has the TNT title. He says executives like Schiavone held him down and created him.

Cody was in the background meanwhile being tended to by paramedics. They did a stretcher job complete with an oxygen mask for Cody.

Cody gave a thumbs up as he was carted to the tunnel. Dark Order intercepted Cody. Arn started to fight his way through Dark Order but was quickly cut off and hit with a thrust kick by Lee.

Dark Order dumped Cody off the stretcher and Lee continued to assault him. Lee hit Cody with a loaded satchel. We would see later that the satchel held the old TNT title.

Dustin and QT came to the stage but were also laid out.

Brandi entered and laid across Cody to try to stop the assault. Anna Jay attacked Brandi and choked her out.

Lee dumped the old TNT belt in pieces on top of Cody and posed over the fallen Nightmare Family.

The announcers put over that AEW changed tonight and it now belongs to Dark Order.

VIDEO: Being The Elite – Gallows & Anderson appear

Video —

Report —

BTE 213 featured a cameo from Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson.

The show open saw Matt and Nick Jackson remembering their Bullet Club days, then “flashing back” to a 2015 meeting with Gallows and Anderson where they discussed starting their own wrestling company.

All four agreed that they were Bullet Club for life and Gallows and Anderson agreed to come with The Bucks when they started their own group.

After Matt and Nick left the room, Gallows and Anderson called Matt and Nick marks and said that they wanted to go to WWE and be famous.

They said they could not wait to team with Triple H and said there were two Pauls in the company that they looked forward to working with, spoofing their recent podcast comments where they made comments about Triple H and Paul Heyman.

Other highlights included:

  • Matt and Nick showed footage of their flight to Jacksonville and their trip through the airport after they arrived.
  • Matt and Kenny Omega discussed religion in their dressing room. Matt tried to get Kenny to join him in being “Christian AF,” but Omega said he was more interested in scientology, because “…what could be more cool than aliens and Tom Cruise?”
  • Alex Reynolds and John Silver were shown backstage at Dynamite. They attempted to recruit Isiah Kassidy to Dark Order but Kassidy blew them off. Then they tried to recruit Nyla Rose. Rose said she had no interest in joining their cult. They offered her Kool-Aid to drink. She accepted the Kool-Aid but drank it from a “f**k you” straw. Silver and Reynolds promised to get her.
  • Chris Daniels said this was the worst year ever, without a doubt.
  • Matt Jackson was backstage with Matt Hardy. Hardy transformed into his Big Money Matt gimmick. Matt asked Hardy to transform into another persona. Broken Matt interrupted to explain the term “heat” using broken brilliance. High Voltage Matt then broke in and wanted to go over some high spots. Broken Matt broke in and explained “blown up.”
  • Brandon Cutler approached Best Friends and Orange Cassidy and asked them for a bit. They promised to match the great Dark Order bit from last week. After Cutler left, they decided to murder Cutler.
  • Cutler showed Cutler Cam footage from Dynamite.
  • Hangman Page and Omega met backstage. Omega was upset that Page was hanging out with FTR on Dynamite. Page said it was no big deal but that when Omega had beer poured on him by FTR he had it coming.
  • Omega entered The Bucks dressing room. Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy entered to confront Omega after he attacked Marko Stunt last week. Omega reluctantly agreed to check on Stunt and to apologize.
  • Stunt was in the trainers room getting checked out. Omega apologized for his actions. Stunt said he looked up to Omega and he hurt his feelings. Omega promised to make it up to Stunt. Omega left the room and called Stunt a derogatory name.
  • Later, Colt Cabana approached Omega’s dressing room. Griff Garrison stopped him and told him that Omega was in no mood. Omega thought Garrison was Jungle Boy.
  • Alex Marvez hosted this week’s Speaking Spanglish segment but introduced himself as Alex Abrahantes. Santana and Ortiz defined “fayk.” Abrahantes then made a cameo.
  • Matt and Nick were in their dressing room discussing ratings and demographics. They tried to devise a way to attract a 50-plus audience. Matt decided that a gardening segment would work and decided to shoot a pilot for a gardening show here on BTE.
  • Private Party went into the trainers room to get checked out but Matt and Nick were there. They thought Matt was a sexy nurse until he unmasked and said he was “dead ass.”
  • Mr. Brodie Lee had a meeting with Dark Order. Stu Grayson and John Silver were arguing. Lee asked Reynolds what was wrong with Silver. Reynolds said Silver was just a kid. Lee said he has an 8 year-old who isn’t a “f*cking idiot” like Silver. Lee opened his jacket to reveal two stacks of paper to slap people with. Dark Order scattered in fear.

MJF’s return among six matches announced for next AEW Dynamite

MJF will return to in-ring action for the first time in two months on the next AEW Dynamite.

On Wednesday’s show, he did a pre-taped promo explaining why he’s been away, saying his injuries have healed and that next week, he’s coming to reclaim his throne. That was later followed up by a live promo with Tony Schiavone where he learned he will be wrestling Jungle Boy at Double or Nothing.

Also announced for next week:

  • Kenny Omega & Matt Hardy vs. Santana & Ortiz: Announced on the Dynamite post-show, this match was made after the Inner Circle team members interfered in the show closing street fight, helping Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara defeat Omega and Hardy.
  • Hikaru Shida vs. Penelope Ford vs. Britt Baker vs. Kris Statlander: While not stated explicitly, it was alluded to that the winner could face AEW Women’s Champion Nyla Rose at Double or Nothing.
  • Chris Jericho vs. Pineapple Pete: The former AEW World Champion has been verbally harassing Pete (aka Sugar Dunkerton) for weeks while on commentary and the two got into a shoving match before the aforementioned street fight Wednesday.
  • Brodie Lee vs. Chris Daniels: This was set up Wednesday after the Dark Order attacked both SCU and AEW World Champion Jon Moxley following Moxley’s victory over Frankie Kazarian. Lee will face Moxley for the title at the upcoming Double or Nothing pay-per-view.
  • Jurassic Express (w/Marko Stunt) vs. Best Friends (w/Orange Cassidy): This will be the Express’ first AEW action since a March 18th win over The Butcher & The Blade at Dynamite while the Best Friends were victorious on last week’s Dynamite in a no DQ, no countout match over Jimmy Havoc and Kip Sabian.
  • Lance Archer and Jake Roberts will do an interview where they will address their actions against Brandi Rhodes Wednesday following Archer’s win over QT Marshall. Archer will face Cody at Double or Nothing for the inaugural TNT Championship.

Next week’s show will not be live as the plan was to tape it after tonight’s broadcast.

Jon Moxley vs. Brodie Lee announced for AEW Double or Nothing

The next AEW World Championship match has been set for Double or Nothing later this month.

A match between champion Jon Moxley and Brodie Lee was established tonight. Lee and the rest of the Dark Order attacked Moxley tonight after he defeated Kazarian in a singles match.

After the assault, Lee told Moxley that he was in possession of something he wanted, and issued the challenge to Moxley who was laid out in the middle of the ring. Moxley, in response, said that all Lee needed to do was to ask. Lee then laid him out with a boot to the face.

Other matches announced for Double or Nothing include MJF taking on Jungle Boy and the finals of the TNT title tournament, where Cody will face Lance Archer. A casino ladder match was also announced on tonight’s show, with more details coming next week.

AEW Double or Nothing will take place on May 23, though it has not been announced where the show will take place.

Next week’s AEW Dynamite has been rounded out with three new matches joining the final two TNT Championship tournament bouts.

Darby Allin vs. Sammy Guevara and Kip Sabian vs. Dustin Rhodes were announced for next week’s show, completing the quarterfinals. The Guevara-Allin winner will face Cody in the semifinals, while the Rhodes-Sabian winner will face Lance Archer, who defeated Colt Cabana on tonight’s show.

Allin and Guevara had a confrontation tonight after Guevara defeated Suge D. “The Spanish God” cut a promo calling Allin a face-painted weird and was about to attack Suge D again when Allin came in for the save.

The two semifinalists will compete in a match at Double or Nothing on May 23 to determine the first ever AEW TNT champion.

Also made for next week was Orange Cassidy of Best Friends returning to singles action against Jimmy Havoc. The match stems from an attack on tonight’s show when Havoc appeared from the crowd and DDT’d Cassidy, who was at ringside for the Chuck Taylor vs. Kip Sabian match.

Additionally, Brodie Lee and Kenny Omega will each be in action next week, but their opponents were not announced.

Brodie Lee set for action on this week’s AEW Dynamite

Brodie Lee’s second match as a member of the AEW roster will air on this week’s episode of Dynamite.

AEW has confirmed that Lee will be in action on Dynamite tomorrow. His opponent for the match hasn’t been announced.

After being revealed as The Exalted One on March 18, Lee made his AEW in-ring debut the next week by defeating QT Marshall. Lee came to the ring on last week’s show and laid out a Dark Order creeper with a powerbomb after two creepers lost a tag team match against Marshall & Dustin Rhodes.

Vince McMahon was parodied in Dark Order videos that aired over the last couple of weeks, with Lee getting mad at Dark Order members for sneezing and yawning.

Tony Schiavone and Chris Jericho will be on commentary for tomorrow’s Dynamite. The TNT Championship tournament will begin with Cody facing Shawn Spears in the first round. Hikaru Shida vs. Britt Baker is also set for the show, Kenny Omega will team with Michael Nakazawa against Best Friends (w/ Orange Cassidy), and Lance Archer will be in action.

Brodie Lee to make AEW in-ring debut on Dynamite

After being revealed as The Exalted One last Wednesday, Brodie Lee is set to make his AEW in-ring debut.

In an advertisement that AEW posted for tonight’s Dynamite episode, it was announced that Lee will have his first match for AEW on the show. AEW didn’t reveal who Lee will be facing.

Lee and The Dark Order attacked SCU’s Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian last week after Lee was revealed as The Exalted One. Daniels — who had been claiming that The Exalted One didn’t actually exist — was laid out by a discus lariat from Lee.

Tonight’s Dynamite was originally set to be headlined by the Blood and Guts match between The Inner Circle and The Elite & Matt Hardy, but AEW announced that the time and circumstances aren’t right for the card they had planned for Blood and Guts and the show will instead happen when the time is right.

Chris Jericho and Hardy will instead have a confrontation on tonight’s Dynamite. Kenny Omega will defend his AAA Mega Championship against Sammy Guevara, and Cody will take on Jimmy Havoc. Cody will also be joining Tony Schiavone on commentary tonight.

AEW Dynamite video highlights: Matt Hardy and Brodie Lee debut

Even though Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite was filmed on a closed set due to the coronavirus pandemic, the show was filled with newsworthy events including the debut appearances of two former WWE talents at different points of their respective careers.

In the show’s final segment, Matt Hardy was revealed as The Elite’s substitution for the injured Nick Jackson, making their impending Blood & Guts double cage match an even fight.

Earlier in the night, Brodie Lee (the former Luke Harper in WWE) was revealed as The Exalted One, ending months of speculation on who it would be which included Christopher Daniels and Hardy himself.

The show also featured a six-man tag for the man advantage in the Blood & Guts match, a four-way women’s match, and plenty of other action from the empty Daily’s Place arena in Jacksonville, Florida, save a dozen wrestlers acting as fans at ringside.

Brodie Lee revealed as The Exalted One on AEW Dynamite

The Exalted One’s identity has been revealed.

Brodie Lee, the former Luke Harper, made his AEW debut tonight by revealing himself as The Exalted One, the leader of the Dark Order.

Evil Uno and Stu Grayson were in the ring talking about The Exalted One when Christopher Daniels, who was in the crowd, confronted the duo. He claimed that Evil Uno was just making things up and denied that there was an Exalted One.

A video then showed The Exalted One telling Daniels to shut up, that he was not the first out of touch old man to underestimate him, but he would be the last. He then revealed himself as Brodie Lee. He and The Dark Order then attacked Daniels from behind as the video ended, with Lee laying out Daniels to end the segment.

This would mark the first appearance of Lee since his WWE release was granted on December 8. He originally asked for his release in April of last year, but WWE denied the request. He returned to WWE briefly last fall, taking part in a tag match with partner Erik Rowan. His last WWE match was participating in a battle royal at Crown Jewel on October 31.

Luke Harper and Sin Cara granted releases from WWE

Two wrestlers have had their release requests granted by WWE.

WWE.com issued a statement today confirming that Luke Harper (real name Jonathan Huber) and Sin Cara (Jorge Arias) are no longer with the company: “WWE has come to terms on the releases of Jonathan Huber (Luke Harper) and Sin Cara. WWE wishes them all the best in their future endeavors.”

Sin Cara also posted a tweet announcing that he’s been granted his release: “As of today I have been granted my release from WWE. Thank you WWE Universe it has been an amazing adventure.”

Harper went public with his release request on April 16 of this year, while Sin Cara publicly announced his request on November 11.

November 11 was also the date that Sin Cara’s last televised match in WWE aired. He lost to Drew McIntyre on an episode of Raw that had been taped in Manchester, England.

Harper returned to WWE television in September and was involved in a program with Erick Rowan against Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan. He was announced as a member of the SmackDown roster following October’s WWE Draft, but he didn’t appear on the show after that.

Harper’s last televised match for the company was the battle royal on the Crown Jewel pre-show on October 31.

Harper applied to trademark his former indie name “Brodie Lee” last month.
