In the main event of AAA Rey de Reyes, Dominik Mysterio retained his Mega Championship.
In a match filled with multiple stipulations, Mysterio reigned victorious after defeating El Hijo del Vikingo. Mysterio, 29, retained his AAA Mega championship after pinning Vikingo.
Despite interference from Vikingo’s manager, Dorian Roldan, and Omos, Vikingo failed to reign supreme. While Omos performed a chokeslam on Mysterio, it was the last moment return and interference from Mini Vikingo that saved Mysterio’s title.
While Omos grabbed and choked Mini Vikingo, Mysterio performed a low blow on Omos to send him down. The duo then followed it up with repeated chair shots to Vikingo, before hitting him with a 619 and Frog Splash to end the match and earn the victory.
Tonight’s main event was full of stipulations. The stipulations were that if Vikingo lost, he could not challenge for the title anymore as long as Mysterio is champion, and if Mysterio lost, he would have to leave AAA. And, based on tonight’s results, Vikingo will no longer be able to challenge for the title till Mysterio holds it.
The stakes are high for the Mega title match at AAA Rey de Reyes, with the stipulations now confirmed.
On March 14, 2026, El Hijo del Vikingo will challenge Dominik Mysterio for his AAA Mega Championship at Auditorio GNP Seguros in Puebla in a no-disqualification match. The stipulations for the match includes if Mysterio wins, Vikingo cannot challenge for the title as long as Mysterio is the champion. If Vikingo wins, Mysterio must leave AAA forever.
In the main event of the February 21 edition of AAA on Fox, fans witnessed the contract signing between Mysterio and Vikingo. While the Mexican luchador had previously asked Mysterio to put his hair on line, he appeared with a new set of stipulations on Saturday’s episode. Vikingo previously earned a title shot at Mysterio’s Mega title by winning a multi-man match.
Saturday’s main event segment concluded with Omos confronting Mysterio. However, Ludwig Kaiser’s El Grande Americano appeared in time to make the save and escorted the champion away. Although the situation changed when the original El Grande Americano attacked the current one. Mysterio watched the chaos unfold for a moment before ultimately walking out.

On the February 7th edition of AAA on Fox, fans witnessed Mysterio walk out and hype himself up in front of the crowd, before Vikingo appeared. The 28-year-old challenged Mysterio to put his hair on the line as well during his title match.
While not demanding an immediate answer, he offered Mysterio some time to think. Vikingo will now await the answer on the upcoming February 21st episode of AAA on Fox during the contract signing of their title match.
The Mega title match for Rey de Reyes is official.
During Saturday’s AAA on Fox show, Dominik Mysterio appeared via video, interrupting El Hijo del Vikingo, Omos, and Dorian Roldan in the ring. He called the new incarnation of El Ojo cowards and confirmed his title match against Vikingo would take place at Rey de Reyes. He told Vikingo that he doesn’t belong, he is the king of the luchadores, and said he would embarrass him in Puebla on March 14.
On the premiere episode of AAA on Fox, Vikingo defeated El Grande Americano to become the new number one contender for the Mega title. It was Mysterio that defeated Vikingo back at Worlds Collide on September 12 to win the title for the first time.
Saturday’s show also saw the first person qualify for the Rey de Reyes tournament finals. La Parka defeated Jack Cartwheel, Apollo Crews, and Aerostar to advance to the finals. Whoever wins the four-way match will win the tournament, wield the ceremonial sword, and earn a future Mega Heavyweight title match.

Notes from Friday’s AAA television show in Mexico City.
A Triplemania XXXIII match for the Mega Championship was set up on the show. Vikingo, who was booed, came out and issued an open challenge. Dragon Lee arrived to answer the challenge, then El Grande Americano. Lee and Vikingo took out Americano but suddenly another masked man entered the ring and took both of them out, revealing himself to be Dominik Mysterio. A four-way for the Mega Championship was then confirmed for Triplemania, which takes place on August 16.

In the main event, Alberto El Patron lost to Mesias in a match where if Alberto lost, he would have to leave AAA. The match was rife with interference, with Dorian Roldan, heel referee Hijo de Tirantes, and NGD freely interfering. Patron took out Roldan and NGD with a guitar but the distraction allowed Mesias to throw powder in Patron’s face then scored a fast count win, putting Patron out of the promotion, at least in storyline.

Also on Saturday’s show from Tijuana, the Guerra de Rivalidades tournament match had an interesting finish. Rush, who seemingly quit the promotion last month, teamed with LA Park against Sam Adonis and Psycho Clown. The match was ultimately ruled a draw after both Adonis and Rush scored pins. Since the stipulation had been the losing team would face each other on August 12 in a mask vs. hair match, now they will all meet in a four-way match on that show.

El Hijo del Vikingo confirmed in an interview with SI.com on Friday that he has secured a U.S work visa.
“I first need to thank my home, AAA, and my friends from Masked Republic for making my dream of traveling to the United States possible,” Vikingo says through a translator. “I know it is a great responsibility to head to a new country. It is a responsibility I will live up to and surpass.”
Vikingo is already listed for AAA’s show on December 3 from the Mullett Arena in Tempe, AZ. He recently worked an angle with members of the GCW roster as well, suggesting he could end up working for them while in the United States.
“I want to thank all my fans for their unconditional support,” Vikingo says. “I assure you that I will raise the name Cuautlancingo, Puebla and AAA throughout the world.”
While Vikingo has never wrestled in the United States, he has worked MLW and Impact shows that took place in Mexico.
Vikingo’s successful title defense against Rey Fenix at AAA Triplemania on Saturday was rated five stars by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. It is the second time one of his matches has received the honor. A tag match between Vikingo & Laredo Kid against the Lucha Bros from Héroes Inmortales XIV last year also received a five-star rating.
