Liv Morgan reveals how long she plans to wrestle

Liv Morgan discussed how long she plans to wrestle and other ventures she hopes to pursue.

In an interview with WatchGinoTV, Morgan stated there’s no timeline till when she plans to wrestle. However, she is interested in building her acting portfolio.

“I’m wrestling until the wheels fall off. I don’t know how long that takes me, but I’m a lifer. But yes I’m very interested in acting and WWE has been so gracious in letting me explore that and spread my wings a little bit. We have a movie coming out this fall, Bad Lieutenant, so keep an eye out for it, but thank you so much for saying that. We’ll see what happens, I guess.”

Morgan began her WWE career on NXT in 2014. At WrestleMania 42, she won her third Women’s World Championship reign.

Her film, Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo is slated for release in September this year. The film, directed by Takashi Miike, follows the story of an FBI agent and police officer’s search for a politician’s daughter, who goes missing. Their discoveries untangle a dangerous investigation along the way.

Jimmy Wang Yang recalls Vince McMahon meeting after he forgot he was fired from WWE

Jimmy Wang Yang revealed his meeting with Vince McMahon after he forgot he had been fired from WWE. And how that led to his second stint with the company.

On the latest episode of the Insight Podcast, Yang revisited the time he was trying to get WWE tickets for himself and his date. He ended up meeting McMahon who seemed to forget that he had been fired.

“Steve Rubin used to hook us up with tickets and I take this girl out wanting a diner, all this kind of stuff. So I go down there, I get to the building, I go down I’m standing around greeting everybody and all of a sudden Vince is walking down toward me. I’m like ‘Hey, Vince’, he’s like ‘Jimmy, where the hell you been?’ You know, I was like, you fired me. ‘What? I did.Oh, we got to talk about it. I don’t want to talk to you in a minute. Just stay here. I got to go do this. I’ll be back.’ He didn’t know he fired me.”

Later, WWE approached him and got him involved in DX’s segment with Spirit Squad. He appeared on the following Raw and SmackDown. John Laurinaitis pulled him aside backstage and informed him that WWE was rehiring him.

Yang’s second WWE stint extended from 2006 to 2010. Following which he extensively competed on TNA before a third comeback as a WWE producer and released again shortly after.

Ronda Rousey talks potential UFC return and if Gina Carano fight will be her last

Ronda Rousey has confirmed that her fight against Gina Carano this weekend will very likely be her last. Appearing on The Ariel Helwani Show to promote the Netflix fight for MVP, Rousey admitted that this was it for her and she would not be returning to the UFC or any other promotion to fight again.

Rousey has not been in competitive MMA for some time, with her last UFC appearances being her losses to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes in 2015 and 2016 respectively.

There is currently no indication that Rousey will be returning to pro wrestling either, with her mentioning during the interview with Helwani that she wants to start having more children with her husband Travis Browne as soon as possible, ruling her out of any combat sports or wrestling in the near future.

Ronda Rousey on potential UFC Return

“To the UFC, to fight? No. I promised my husband that this is the last one. He is the one that I have to convince to get on board with this promoter shit after. He’s not going for the fighting at all after this. Honestly, I want to get started having babies again right away. I want to have at least two more, if I can. I can’t be taking detours anymore. This is the peak. I can’t go higher than this. This is the dream fight and the absolute pinnacle for me. This is the perfect way to end it.

Rousey recently appeared in AEW alongside her long time friend Marina Shafir, although that was a one-off appearance to help promote this upcoming Netflix broadcast rather than a match in All Elite Wrestling.

FAQ and context

Is this really Ronda Rousey’s last fight?

By her own words, yes. Rousey told Ariel Helwani plainly: “I promised my husband that this is the last one.” She also called the Carano bout “the peak” and “the absolute pinnacle.” Combat sports retirements have a habit of getting unretired, but everything Rousey said on the show pointed to a hard stop.

How long has Rousey been out of MMA?

Her last sanctioned MMA bout was the Amanda Nunes loss at UFC 207 on 30 December 2016. The Carano fight is her first combat sports appearance since, and, if she’s to be believed, her last.

Where is the Rousey vs Carano fight being shown?

On Netflix, as part of the streamer’s ongoing push into live combat sports.

Lance Storm points out potentially glaring issue with The John Cena Classic format

John Cena recently revealed that The John Cena Classic Championship will be making its way to WWE programming in the near future, with a unique format featuring matches with main roster and NXT stars. The USP with the JCC is fans voting to determine who will be the John Cena Classic Champion.

What that means is, essentially, that wins and losses in the tournament do not ‘matter.’ You can lose a match in the Classic and still end up becoming the Champion….but only if the fans like you enough to vote for you.

Lance Storm on The John Cena Classic

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, F4W’s own Lance Storm pointed out a potentially glaring issue with the new format and why it might lead to talent not wanting to put over their colleagues on TV:

“If I’m a $500,000 main roster talent and I’m in there with a $75,000 a year NXT guy, why would I use my skill and my experience to make him look good? If he wins the popularity contest and wins and gets the push to the championship, I could lose my job” Lance noted. “Because there is going top be a TKO executive saying, ‘well why are we paying this guy that lost the fan vote and is less over than this NXT guy that works for way less money?'”

One of the biggest elements to making a pro wrestling match work is the talent working together, which is something Lance points out could be thrown out the window: “If I know ahead of time, ‘Hey, you’re getting a push, we wanna protect this guy,’ I’ll make him look good. But if I don’t know who’s winning or losing the actual fan vote, it’s no longer in my interest to make the guy look good.”

Jacob Fatu decimates Roman Reigns on WWE Raw

Acknowledgement denied.

On Raw, it was advertised that Jacob Fatu would acknowledge Roman Reigns following his loss at Backlash over the weekend. But by the end of the show, one thing was made very clear: things are far from over between the two cousins.

The end of Monday’s show in Knoxville, Tennessee saw Reigns come out, only to see Fatu making a beeline towards the ring, saying if Reigns wanted an acknowledgement, he would have to beat it out of him. Jey Uso tried to talk sense into Jacob, but was eventually laid out in the gorilla position. Jimmy met the same fate as the two met in the entranceway.

Reigns went right after Fatu as he entered the ring. Fatu fought back and went for a dive but Reigns cut him off with a Superman punch and attacked him with a chair, demanding that Fatu acknowledge him. Reigns went for a spear but Fatu countered with a superkick and Tongan Death Grip. Reigns fell out of the ring and Fatu connected with a suicide dive.

Fatu eventually powerbombed Reigns through the announce table and locked in the Tongan Death Grip again as officials tried to stop the onslaught. Fatu started to head up the ramp as The Usos went to check on Reigns, but Fatu reversed course and sent all three men through the barricade, leaving him the only man standing as the show went off the air.

Roman Reigns won at Backlash, but Fatu stood tall

Backlash saw Fatu put up a strong showing against Reigns, only for the Tribal Chief to eek away a victory thanks to an exposed turnbuckle. But Fatu wasn’t done after the match, applying the Tongan Death Grip and taking out officials left and right, holding the World Heavyweight title as the show went off the air. During the Backlash post-show, Reigns told Cathy Kelley that it would be Fatu’s last night in the company.

Angel Garza thanks fans following WWE Raw squash match

Angel Garza started his Monday night getting squashed in a dominant fashion. He ended it thanking fans on social media with an ominous post.

Garza and his cousin, Humberto “Berto” Carillo, made a surprise appearance on Monday Night Raw, getting destroyed by Oba Femi in a two-on-one handicap match. It was particularly unexpected because both are technically part of the SmackDown roster; it was the first Monday Night Raw match for either of them since a battle royal in 2023.

Shortly after Raw ended, Garza issued the following statement on social media: “Thank you to everyone who never jumped off the ship and kept supporting the Garza Legacy through it all.”

In light of the ongoing roster purge in WWE, the surprise appearance, one-sided loss, and cryptic statement all seem like ominous signs for the future of Los Garza in the company.

Garza and Carillo made separate debuts as singles wrestlers on WWE’s main roster in 2019. Garza would compete at WrestleMania 36 the next year, teaming with Austin Theory in a loss to the Street Profits. The two were put together as a team in 2021 and have been united ever since.

They won the AAA World Tag Team Championships at Triplemania last June, but then lost the titles to Psycho Clown & Pagano that August. They have been appearing regularly on SmackDown, Main Event, and house shows since then, but have won only one match between them: Berto defeated Apollo Crews on Main Event in February.

First two matches announced for next WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event

Two matches are already announced for the next Saturday Night’s Main Event.

WWE’s next Saturday special will take place in Fort Wayne, Indiana on May 23. On Raw, two title matches were announced, with The Vision set to defend the World Tag Team titles against The Street Profits. Meanwhile, the Intercontinental title will also be on the line when Penta defends against Ethan Page.

The Street Profits have been a thorn on Austin Theory and Logan Paul’s side ever since they returned on the Raw following WrestleMania. The two teams met face-to-face in the opening segment of Raw, with Montez Ford saying they were coming after the titles. After Joe Hendry came out and sang his ‘Fire Logan Paul’ song, he and the Street Profits went on to beat Bron Breakker, Paul, and Theory after Seth Rollins ran in and laid out Bron Breakker, causing a distraction and allowing Angelo Dawkins to pin Theory with a schoolboy.

Later in the night, Penta arrived and said if Ethan Page wanted a title match, he should say it to his face. Page came out and said that since he pinned Penta last week, he should get a title match. Penta offered to defend the title right then and there, but Page said he wasn’t ready and challenged Penta to a match for Saturday Night’s Main Event instead. Penta accepted, saying he was ready for war.

WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event (May 23)

  • WWE Intercontinental Champion Penta defends against Ethan Page
  • World Tag Team Champions The Vision defend against Street Profits

Thekla on new contract: ‘AEW is perfect for me’

While Thekla’s stint in AEW was originally planned to be a short one, it sounds like she’ll be around for the long haul.

Thekla confirmed she had re-signed with AEW while talking with Branson Quirke of TMZ Sports. Quirke then asked her what made that the right move.

“I think AEW is a perfect fit for me,” she said. “So when Boss Man asked me, ‘Hey, would you mind staying with us for a little longer than we originally said?’ I was like, “Yeah, if the circumstances are right and allow it for me to feel lucrative enough, I’m definitely thinking that could be a very good idea.’”

Thekla added that “Boss Man”—Tony Khan—was a big reason she decided to stick around, without exploring other options.

“I love T.K.,” she said. “I love working with him and I love his energy backstage and all the girls are nice. The locker room is quiet and peaceful and I love my job. It’s good, you know? I don’t think the grass is greener anywhere else because I’m sitting in a f***ing flower garden, you know?”

Thekla debuted with AEW on May 28 last year, attacking Jamie Hayter on Dynamite. Her first match with the promotion was a win over Lady Frost on Collision a few weeks later.

Thekla is scheduled to defend the AEW Women’s World Championship at Double or Nothing in Queens, New York, on May 24. She will be competing in a four-way against Hikaru Shida, Kris Statlander, and Hayter.

Women’s Tag Team title match part of next WWE Raw lineup

A Women’s Tag Team title match is part of the next WWE Raw lineup.

Greensborough, North Carolina next week will see a Women’s Tag Team title match where champions Paige and Brie Bella will take on Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez of the Judgement Day. Meanwhile, the Oba Femi Open Challenge will continue as long as there is someone, anyone, is willing to take on the man that defeated Brock Lesnar in quick fashion at WrestleMania 42.

Paige & Bella were confronted on Monday by their future challengers. Perez said she loved watching Paige and Bella back when they were young and relevant, and asked Bella if she remembered meeting her when she was a kid. Perez said that Bella told her that she could carry on the Bella legacy, but accused Bella of setting the bar too low.

After asking the duo to hand over the titles before another one of Paige’s scandals breaks, the champions attacked their challengers but Liv Morgan arrived to stack the odds against them.

Oba Femi came out on Raw for his open challenge, only for Adam Pearce to arrive and announce the challenge had been cancelled because no one wanted to face Femi. The irate ruler then headed backstage to find competition himself, running into Berto and Angel who earlier in the night were looking for an opportunity from Pearce. Femi dragged both to the ring and easily destroyed the two, picking up the win in an impromtu 2-on-1 handicap match.

WWE Raw (May 18)

  • WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Brie Bella & Paige defend against Roxanne Perez & Raquel Rodriguez
  • Oba Femi Open Challenge continues

First post-WWE appearance for New Day announced

It’s an original time period for the artists formerly known as the New Day. Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston remain with the WWE Universe, but Austin Creed and Kofi are headed for a new galaxy.

GalaxyCon announced the pair would be available for photos and autographs at their Oklahoma City event later this month.

The New Day were among the talent announced as leaving WWE in a post-WrestleMania purge. Kofi specifically seemed to confirm reports that the pair were asked to take a pay cut, and opted to leave instead. “Do not ever compromise or accept less than your due when it comes to your worth,” he said at the time.

The full given name of the former Kofi Kingston is Kofi Nahaje Sarkodie-Mensah, which is why he’s allowed to use the singular moniker. Austin Watson wrestled as Austin Creed and Consequences Creed before being called Xavier Woods by the WWE. (Not to be confused with American football player Xavier Woods, who is also currently unsigned.)

Watson also used the name Austin Creed in all of his UpUpDownDown-related enterprises. The future of that YouTube channel remains unclear; though it was founded by Watson, he reportedly sold it to WWE in 2021.

GalaxyCon takes place May 22 through May 24 at the Oklahoma City Convention Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Creed and Kofi have only been announced for Saturday and Sunday. They will not be the only wrestling personalities there; Gangrel has been announced for all three days. Tickets for the event area available here; note that autographs and photos cost extra.

WWE says Asuka’s future is ‘up in the air’

No one seems to know what Asuka’s future is with WWE.

During Raw on Monday, Michael Cole said Asuka’s future was “up in the air” following her loss to IYO SKY at Backlash. This comes as reports indicate that Asuka may be taking time away from WWE, and a segment earlier in the show seemed to hint at that.

The segment showed Asuka approaching SKY and hugging her. Asuka said that she had been looking for someone to take her position, and SKY was that person, telling her former pupil that she was proud of her. SKY said that they would always be family, even if they fought.

“Goodbye, Asuka-san,” SKY said as they hugged again. Asuka kissed SKY on the forehead and shared some words in Japanese before leaving with her luggage.

Asuka entering semi-retirement?

Following Asuka’s loss to SKY at Backlash, Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio that the former Women’s Champion was “semi-retired.”

“So, the story I heard is that she is semi-retired. I haven’t really gotten an exact meaning of what semi-retired means, but I guess people were wishing her goodbye and things like that backstage. So I don’t know if that means she’s going to Japan and still wrestle. I don’t know if that means she’s going to still do stuff here and there, but I was told semi-retired,” he said.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider on Monday reported that Asuka is “believed to remain aligned with the company.”

Cody Rhodes reveals Nintendo sent cease-and-desist over Zelda-inspired gear

Cody Rhodes has risen from being the son of a son of a plumber, to AEW executive vice president, to WWE Champion. But even he still yields to the power of Nintendo’s attorneys.

Rhodes discussed his legal run-ins with the video game giant on the latest episode of What Do You Wanna Talk About? As he and Kit Wilson were talking about their favorite video games, the conversation turned to the Legend of Zelda-themed gear Rhodes used to wear.

“I got a cease and desist [notice] from Nintendo,” he said. “It was very kind. It was polite. They weren’t coming after anybody. They’re friendly. I’m not the first guy to have the Triforce.”

Rhodes also talked about the Triforce and why he chose to put it on his boots in the first place.

“I thought the principles of the Triforce, which are power, courage, and wisdom—and for those who don’t know, Zelda’s the wise one, obviously Link is the one who’s got the courage, and power is Gannon,” Rhodes explained. “They make up the three parts of the Triforce, that’s the whole deal. And I just liked the idea of thinking and leaning towards your own wisdom or what you’ve learned and applying it, of being ambitious and wanting to be powerful, in a world that’s competitive of sports and sports entertainment, and then having the courage to do it.”
