Angel Garza thanks fans following WWE Raw squash match

Angel Garza started his Monday night getting squashed in a dominant fashion. He ended it thanking fans on social media with an ominous post.

Garza and his cousin, Humberto “Berto” Carillo, made a surprise appearance on Monday Night Raw, getting destroyed by Oba Femi in a two-on-one handicap match. It was particularly unexpected because both are technically part of the SmackDown roster; it was the first Monday Night Raw match for either of them since a battle royal in 2023.

Shortly after Raw ended, Garza issued the following statement on social media: “Thank you to everyone who never jumped off the ship and kept supporting the Garza Legacy through it all.”

In light of the ongoing roster purge in WWE, the surprise appearance, one-sided loss, and cryptic statement all seem like ominous signs for the future of Los Garza in the company.

Garza and Carillo made separate debuts as singles wrestlers on WWE’s main roster in 2019. Garza would compete at WrestleMania 36 the next year, teaming with Austin Theory in a loss to the Street Profits. The two were put together as a team in 2021 and have been united ever since.

They won the AAA World Tag Team Championships at Triplemania last June, but then lost the titles to Psycho Clown & Pagano that August. They have been appearing regularly on SmackDown, Main Event, and house shows since then, but have won only one match between them: Berto defeated Apollo Crews on Main Event in February.

AAA announces next match for Los Garza

Los Garza will have a chance to regain the AAA Tag Team Championships next weekend.

AAA announced on Sunday that Angel and Berto will be part of a three-way title match at the company’s TV tapings in Monterrey on Sunday, September 7. Champions Psycho Clown and Pagano will defend against Los Garza and the team of Laredo Kid and Octagon Jr.

Los Garza lost the titles to Pagano and Psycho Clown at Triplemania earlier this month. They had won the belts at Triplemania Regia on June 15 in a four-way match that also included Nic and Ryan Nemeth, Pagano and Psycho Clown, and the then-champions Forastero and Sanson.

Los Garza successfully defended the titles twice before dropping them at Triplemania. The first defense was against Laredo Kid and Octagon Jr. at Verano de Escandalo on July 11, and the second was against Mr. Iguana and Psycho Clown on the August 1 episode of SmackDown.

AAA Gira Alianzas 2025 TV Taping lineup for September 7:

  • El Grande Americano vs. El Fiscal
  • Lola Vice & Lince Dorado vs. La Hiedra & Mr. Iguana
  • LA Parka vs. Mecha Wolf

Los Garza are the new AAA Tag Team Champions.

The co-main event of Sunday’s show in Monterrey had Angel & Berto defeat Sanson & Forestero, Psycho Clown & Pagano, and The Nemeths in a four-way match to win the titles for the first time. The finish had Psycho Clown looking for the win after putting Forastero through a table. However, the Nemeths pulled the referee out of the ring. After Psycho Clown & Pagano responded by diving to the outside, Los Garza came in and hit their finish for the win.

After the win, the hometown heroes received the championships from Marisela Pena as they celebrated their win.

Santos Escobar announced that Los Garza would be competing for the titles last month. In the promo, he said Los Garzas winning the titles would be part of a three-step plan. He said that this plan would also involve him returning to AAA to win the AAA Mega Championship, a title that is currently held by Hijo del Vikingo.

WWE recently held a joint show with AAA, Worlds Collide. On that show, all of Legado Del Fantasma defeated El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr, Pagano, and Psycho Clown in a trios match.

Los Garza to challenge for AAA Tag Team titles at Triplemania Regia

Los Garza are competing for AAA’s Tag Team titles.

During AAA’s live show on Saturday, a video package aired featuring Legado del Fantasma. It was revealed that Angel & Berto would be competing for the AAA Tag Team titles against champions Nueva Generacion Dinamita (Forastero & Sanson) at Triplemania Regia on June 15 in Monterrey.

In the promo, Escobar said that Los Garza winning the titles would be the first step in a three-step plan for Legado Del Fantasma. He also declared he would soon make his return to AAA, and hinted his plans were to challenge for AAA’s top title, the Mega title.  Hijo del Vikingo won that title in the main event of Saturday’s show, defeating Alberto El Patron to become champion for a second time.

Legado Del Fantasma is set to compete at WWE AAA Worlds Collide on June 7, where they will take on Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr., Pagano, and Psycho Clown.
