Satoshi Kojima to face Tom Lawlor at MLW One-Shot

NJPW’s Satoshi Kojima now has an opponent for his MLW return match.
It was announced today that Kojima will face “Filthy” Tom Lawlor at MLW One-Shot on Thursday, December 7. The show is taking place from the Melrose Ballroom in New York City and will air live on Fite+.
This is Kojima’s first MLW match in more than 20 years. During the early 2000s, Kojima wrestled for the first iteration of MLW. He was the second-ever MLW World Heavyweight Champion.
Dave Meltzer reports that Kojima is scheduled to be a semi-regular for MLW going forward and this match isn’t a one-time deal.
Lawlor is also a former MLW World Heavyweight Champion, holding the title in 2019. He recently returned to MLW for the first time since 2021.
There have now been two matches announced for the One-Shot event. The show will also feature the MLW debut of Tokyo Joshi Pro-Wrestling star Miyu Yamashita.

This will be the first time Lawlor has wrestled for MLW in two years. He’s a former MLW World Heavyweight Champion, holding the title for five months in 2019.
Kane won the MLW World Heavyweight Championship from Alex Hammerstone this July.

Adam Cole vs. Tom Lawlor set for AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door

Adam Cole now has a match for Sunday’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.
Made on Friday’s edition of AEW Rampage, Cole will take on former NJPW Strong Champion Tom Lawlor on the pay-per-view from Toronto, Canada.
Cole came out for a promo and was interrupted by his recent rival/future tag team partner MJF. The AEW World Champion said he talked to Tony Khan and got Cole booked against Lawlor for Sunday. Lawlor and Royce Isaacs then attacked Cole from behind while MJF slowly made his way down to the ring, pretending to want to help. Once he finally got there, Lawlor and Isaacs took off.

Bryan Alvarez & Tom Lawlor lose Tag Team title match at BLP Observe This, Brother

Saturday did not end well for Bryan Alvarez & Tom Lawlor.
The two, collectively known as the Chop ‘n’ Roll Express, faced champions Bang Bros. (Davey Bang and August Matthews) at Black Label Pro’s Observe This, Brother event in Crown Point, Indiana. Alvarez initially scored the win for his team with a swanton bomb. However, he was informed the match was not for the Tag Team titles. Upset, Alvarez stormed to the back to find the commissioner, who he had failed to see was already in the ring.
The commissioner said that Alvarez and Lawlor had done a good job, and would get a title match right then and now. However the Bang Bros. manager, Trevor Outlaw, struck Lawlor with one of the Tag Team titles allowing the Bang Bros. to score the quick victory. Alvarez came back to the ring after the second match, upset. He said he quit before returning to the back.
Alvarez last wrestled at GCW/BLP’s 4 Cups Stuffed event back on September 9, where he and Billie Starks lost to Killer Kelly and Lawlor.

Tom Lawlor and Katsuyori Shibata will meet later this month.
It was announced Tuesday evening that Tom Lawlor vs. Katsuyori Shibata has been added to the Inoki Bom-Ba-Ye x Ganryujima event set to take place December 28 at Sumo Hall in Tokyo, Japan. The match will be contested under UWF rules.
According to an article in Tokyo Sports, Antonio Inoki instructed in his will that his Inoki Bom-Ba-Ye event be resurrected. It will be held in conjunction with the Ganryujima mixed martial arts event. Inoki died back in September.
Shibata made his return to pro wrestling earlier this year, facing Ren Narita in a match that originally was set to be under UWF rules at Wrestle Kingdom 16 back on January 4. However, the match soon turned into a regular pro wrestling match, with Shibata picking up the win. On the November 4 edition of AEW Dynamite, Shibata returned to the ring, losing to Orange Cassidy in a match that was for the AEW All-Atlantic Championship.
Lawlor competed in NJPW’s G1 Climax tournament this past summer. He also teamed with Syuri at NJPW and Stardom’s Historic X-Over event in November, losing to Zack Sabre Jr. and Giulia.

Bryan Alvarez goes down in defeat at GCW/BLP 4 Cups Stuffed

While the eyes of the wrestling world are on WWE and AEW this weekend, one of the highest of profile bouts saw famed podcaster/curmudgeon Bryan Alvarez team with Billie Starkz to take on Filthy Four Weekly co-host Tom Lawlor and Killer Kelly at GCW/BLP 4 Cups Stuffed Friday night in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
Despite the bravado Alvarez showed leading up to the mixed tag team match, it was not his night as Lawlor and Kelly defeated Alvarez and Starkz in roughly sixteen minutes.
There were issues between Alvarez and Starkz from the get-go that would portend their doom:
Escorted to the party by @bryanalvarez … @BillieStarkz already over it. 😆@BLabelPro@GCWrestling_ #GCWBLP4CUPS pic.twitter.com/a0kw40seHe
— Sergio (@thenunclub) September 3, 2022
The issues exacerbated with Alvarez later using his partner as a human shield to get a takedown on the former MMA fighter:

As was likely contractually obligated, Alvarez got his stuff in, including an impressive swanton for a 47-year-old:

Alvarez did take his licks, getting slapped repeatedly by Kelly to the delight of the fans (and many in the industry):

Proving that their former Chop ‘n’ Roll Express tag team is officially dead, Alvarez laid in some heavy blows to his old partner:

Lawlor, the budding NJPW star and former MLW Champion, later got his revenge:

Lawlor also attempted to end Alvarez’s podcasting career with this Michinoku Driver:

In the end, Lawlor managed to mangle his weekly podcast co-host, painfully ensnaring the reportedly BJJ black belt owner for the submission win.
