The first match has been announced for One-Shot 2024, a show that’s being built around Eric Bischoff’s MLW debut.
Former WWE wrestlers Matt Riddle and Donovan Dijak will face off at the Thursday, December 5 One-Shot event in New York City. Airing live on MLW’s YouTube channel, MLW is billing that Bischoff will serve as executive producer for one night only and will have “total control” of the matchmaking.
Riddle was released by WWE in September 2023, while Dijak departed WWE earlier this year when his contract was not renewed. Both are looking to become World Heavyweight Champion in MLW. The championship is currently held by Satoshi Kojima — and Riddle is owed a future title shot as the winner of MLW Battle Riot 2024. Dijak could also be in line for a title shot if he’s able to defeat Riddle.
Kojima will be in action at One-Shot but an opponent for him has not been revealed yet.
Melrose Ballroom in Queens will be the venue for One-Shot. The YouTube broadcast has a start time of 9 p.m. Eastern.
Eric Bischoff is coming to MLW for an event in New York City this December.
Touting that he will have creative control for one night only, MLW has announced Bischoff for their One-Shot show in Queens on Thursday, December 5. MLW is hyping that this is Bischoff promoting a show in “enemy territory” after going against the Northeast-based WWE while leading WCW during the Monday Night Wars.
The news was made official after actor/wrestler Paul Walter Hauser invited Bischoff to MLW during an appearance on his Wise Choices podcast.
“Bischoff will have total control over MLW for one night only. From matchmaking to the TV trucks, Bischoff will oversee the event in his vision,” the promotion wrote. “The unique opportunity for Bischoff to call the shots came about during a recent episode of Bischoff’s YouTube show, Wise Choices, where he was joined by MLW’s Paul Walter Hauser. When asked what he would do if he had one more chance to run a wrestling show his way, Hauser seized the moment, calling MLW owner Court Bauer live on the air to pitch the concept. Bauer gave an enthusiastic YES.”
One-Shot 2024 is being held at the Melrose Ballroom on December 5 and will air live for free on MLW’s YouTube channel. No matches have been announced for the show yet.
This will be Bischoff’s first-ever appearance for MLW. He previously had a show on the MLW Radio network.

Holiday has been gone from the company since June 2022. He was diagnosed with stage four Hodgkin’s lymphoma later that year and would undergo chemotherapy treatment. Holiday revealed in May that his cancer is now in remission.
Alex Hammerstone, who returned to MLW last month, has announced that his contract officially expires on January 1 and he will become a free agent at that time.
Last night was my last event under my current contract.
January 1st I will officially be a free agent.

After publicly requesting his release from the promotion in October, Hammerstone returned at MLW Fightland. He also joined MSL’s WTF stable.

Lawlor is also a former MLW World Heavyweight Champion, holding the title in 2019. He recently returned to MLW for the first time since 2021.

This was built and promoted as a main event and it delivered. The match went over 30 minutes and opened with a lot of mat work.
They worked a diverse style with levels of work. Ricochet went for high-flying moves and Strickland wanted to grab his arm for submission attempts. There were multiple sequences of rope running and transitions that were outstanding. They exchanged ferocious strikes and Ricochet’s chest was lit up.
For the finish, Strickland was able to avoid the 630 and the Benadryller before finally gaining control of the arm with a key lock for the submission victory.
