MLW announces change to Slaughterhouse 2024 match

MLW has announced a change to one of its matches planned for Slaughterhouse 2024.

After announcing yesterday that Donovan Dijak vs. TJP would be taking place at the event, MLW shared an update today revealing that it will now be Dijak vs. Trevor Lee at Slaughterhouse. The show is taking place from The Coliseum in St. Petersburg, Florida on October 4 and will air for free live on MLW’s YouTube channel.

“In a shocking twist ahead of MLW Slaughterhouse on October 4 at the Coliseum, Trevor Lee has stepped up to face the unstoppable force known as Donovan Dijak. Following TJP’s unexpected withdrawal from the match, MLW’s roster was notified of an open contract to fight Dijak,” the promotion wrote. “Wasting no time, a fearless Trevor Lee raced to sign his name, setting the stage for an electrifying debut.”

Dijak and Lee both departed WWE earlier this year. Dijak left the company in June when his contract was not renewed, while Lee (formerly known as Cameron Grimes) was released by WWE back in April.

Lee is making his MLW debut at Slaughterhouse. Dijak arrived in the promotion last month at MLW Summer of the Beasts.

Here’s the updated card for Slaughterhouse:

World Heavyweight title match set for MLW Slaughterhouse

NJPW and CMLL legends are set to clash over the MLW World Heavyweight Championship next month.

Satoshi Kojima will defend his World Heavyweight Championship belt against CMLL’s Ultimo Guerrero at MLW Slaughterhouse on Friday, October 4. The show is taking place from The Coliseum in St. Petersburg, Florida and will air live for free on MLW’s YouTube channel.

For more than seven months now, Kojima has held the MLW World title. He had a title defense against Mads Krugger at MLW Fightland this past weekend, but the match ended in a disqualification after Contra Unit interfered and Krugger threw a fireball at Kojima. There was then a post-match angle where Matt Riddle and AKIRA made the save for Kojima.

Kojima celebrated his 54th birthday on the day of Fightland.

Ultimo Guerrero, 52, has only wrestled for MLW once before, losing to Atlantis Jr. in May. MLW posted a video on Sunday with him calling out Kojima for this title match.

But MLW announced today that Smith “has withdrawn from the bout and has been placed on the emergency injured reserved list.” Lawlor will be replacing Smith in the title match.

This will be the first time Lawlor has wrestled for MLW in two years. He’s a former MLW World Heavyweight Champion, holding the title for five months in 2019.

Women’s title match booked for MLW Slaughterhouse

A Women’s Championship match has been booked for MLW Slaughterhouse.

MLW announced today that Delmi Exo will defend her Featherweight Championship against B3CCA at Slaughterhouse on Saturday, October 14. The show is airing live on Fite+.

There was an angle on MLW Fusion this August where B3CCA injured Exo with a guitar shot. After campaigning for a title match against Exo, B3CCA officially earned the opportunity by defeating Maki Itoh at MLW Fury Road earlier this month.

In April of this year, Exo won the MLW Women’s Featherweight Championship from Taya Valkyrie. Exo is only the second-ever wrestler to hold the title since it was introduced in 2022. She’s made three successful title defenses, retaining against Valkyrie, Paris Van Dale, and Ava Everett.

Exo defeated B3CCA when they faced off in MLW earlier in 2023.

World Heavyweight title match official for MLW Slaughterhouse

Davey Boy Smith Jr. is getting a World Heavyweight Championship shot at MLW Slaughterhouse.

It was announced today that Smith will challenge Alex Kane for the MLW World Heavyweight Championship at next month’s Slaughterhouse event. The show is taking place at Philadelphia’s 2300 Arena on Saturday, October 14. It will air live on Fite+.

Earlier this year, Smith was crowned as the winner of the 2023 Opera Cup tournament in MLW. Smith, who also won the tournament in 2019, is a two-time Opera Cup holder.

Kane and Smith were the final two wrestlers in this year’s MLW Battle Riot match. Kane won the Battle Riot and later defeated Alex Hammerstone to win the MLW World Heavyweight Championship. Kane has been champion since July.

The Kane vs. Smith match is part of a double main event at Slaughterhouse. In the other top match on the show, Minoru Suzuki faces off against Jacob Fatu. The match is Suzuki’s MLW debut.

These are the first two matches that have been confirmed for Slaughterhouse.

Minoru Suzuki to face Jacob Fatu at MLW Slaughterhouse

Minoru Suzuki now has an opponent for his MLW debut.

MLW has confirmed that Suzuki will face Jacob Fatu at the promotion’s Slaughterhouse event in Philadelphia on Saturday, October 14. The show is airing live on Fite+.

A partnership between MLW and NJPW was announced last month. On the most recent episode of MLW Fusion, Fatu responded to the news that Suzuki would be debuting for MLW at Slaughterhouse. Fatu called out Suzuki to face him.

“Last week on Fusion Fatu laid down the challenge, calling out Suzuki — and the ‘King of Pro Wrestling’ was delighted to accept and cautions there will be no mercy as these two fight for the first time ever,” MLW wrote.

Fatu is a former MLW World Heavyweight Champion and a former MLW National Openweight Champion.

The MLW-NJPW partnership began at Fury Road earlier this month. At that show, KUSHIDA made his MLW debut by defeating Tony Deppen.

Slaughterhouse is taking place at Philadelphia’s 2300 Arena. This is the first match that’s been made official for the show.
