Sammy Guevara wins TNT title at AEW Battle of the Belts

Sammy Guevara has won the TNT Championship for a third time.

On the Battle of the Belts show that aired tonight on TNT, Guevara defeated Scorpio Sky to win the championship for a third time. The finish had Dan Lambert and Paige VanZant get involved. Tay Conti, who was at ringside, took out VanZant. During the distraction, Guevara low blowed Sky and gave him the GTH to score his third TNT Championship win, tying the record with Cody Rhodes for having the most TNT title reigns.

Guevara’s win ends Sky’s run with the championship after 37 days. He defeated Guevara on the March 9, 2022 edition of Dynamite. This also ends a win streak in singles matches for Sky.

After Guevara lost the TNT title to Sky, he insisted on getting a rematch. Sky at first refused to defend his title, but eventually accepted after Guevara told Sky he would keep bugging him until he got his title shot.

Bobby Fish to challenge for TNT title on next week’s AEW Dynamite

A match between Bobby Fish and Sammy Guevara for the TNT title has been announced for next week’s Dynamite.

After Guevara defeated Miro for the TNT title on tonight’s Dynamite, Fish tweeted that he wanted the first shot at the title. Following the first commercial break of Rhodes to the Top, Schiavone interviewed Guevara, who brought up the challenge and said that people not even working for the company were challenging him. He accepted the challenge for next week.

Once he accepted the match, Dan Lambert and The Men of the Year (Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page) confronted Guevara, saying they wanted a title shot as well. The three eventually had to be pulled apart.

Other matches announced for next week’s Dynamite, which takes place at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania include:

  • Kenny Omega, the Young Bucks and Adam Cole vs. Bryan Danielson, Christian Cage, Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus
  • Hikaru Shida vs. Serena Deeb
  • Casino ladder match for an AEW World title shot

Sammy Guevara wins TNT title on AEW Dynamite

Sammy Guevara is the new TNT Champion.

Guevara won the title in the main event of tonight’s Dynamite, defeating Miro. The finish had Miro exposing a turnbuckle in one of the ring corners. Fuego Del Sol, however, distracted Miro long enough for Sammy to dropkick Miro into the exposed turnbuckle. Guevara eventually laid out Miro and pinned him following a 630 splash.

Miro held the championship for 140 days, defeating Darby Allin on the May 12 edition of Dynamite. He had most recently defended the title against Fuego Del Sol on the episode of Rampage that aired on September 17. Miro put the title up against Fuego’s new car that he bought as a result of signing with AEW. After the match, Miro continued to attack Fuego until Guevara made the save, setting the stage for tonight’s match.

Following his title win, Bobby Fish tweeted that he wanted the first shot at Guevara. In a promo that aired during the first commercial break of Rhodes to the Top, Guevara accepted Fish’s challenge.

Miro vs. Archer TNT title match set for AEW Double or Nothing

A new match for the TNT title has been added to the AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view event that will take place on May 30.

AEW’s social media announced this afternoon that Miro will defend the TNT title against Lance Archer. They showed a video of Archer saying he should be TNT Champion and his destiny will be fulfilled at Double or Nothing.

Miro won the TNT title last week in the main event of Dynamite, defeating Darby Allin who had held the title since winning it at Full Gear last November.

AEW is set to announce the full card for Double or Nothing on tonight’s episode of Dynamite. Matches announced so far include:

  • Kenny Omega vs. Orange Cassidy vs. PAC for the AEW World title
  • Hikaru Shida vs. Britt Baker for the AEW World Women’s title
  • Cody Rhodes vs. Anthony Ogogo
  • The Pinnacle vs. The Inner Circle in a Stadium Stampede match
  • Miro vs. Lance Archer for the TNT title
  • Casino Battle Royal for a future AEW World Championship match

Miro wins TNT Championship on AEW Dynamite

Miro is the new TNT Champion, defeating Darby Allin on tonight’s episode of Dynamite.

The two had a big back and forth match, despite Allin’s injuries last week after being thrown down stairs by Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky, as well as a pre-match beatdown by Miro. The finish had Allin going for the coffin drop, but Miro grabbed him as he landed and applied the Game Over. Allin passed out, giving Miro the win.

After the show went off the air, Allin cut a promo saying how the TNT championship was the only title he cared about, he didn’t need any other title. He promised that it was not the last time he would be champion, and thanked everyone for their support.

Allin won the title back on November 7, defeating Cody Rhodes at Full Gear, holding it for 186 days. In recent weeks, he has defended the title in the main event of Dynamite, successfully defending against the likes of Matt Hardy, Jungle Boy, and 10.

TNT title match announced for AEW Dynamite

A TNT Championship match will take place this week on Dynamite.

Darby Allin will defend the championship against Preston “10” Vance of the Dark Order. The match was made after Allin called him out on Twitter.

“The last time I stepped foot in the ring with a dark order member I beat Jon Silver After he dislocated shoulder that’s not a win I’ll accept,” Allin wrote. “@Pres10Vance Brodie handpicked you as his protege If you ain’t doing s*** Wednesday you know what this means…..@AEW @AEWonTNT”

After 10 accepted the match on social media, AEW confirmed on their account that the match had been made for this Wednesday. This would be the third week in a row there will be a TNT title match on Dynamite, as Allin has successfully defended the title against Matt Hardy and Jungle Boy.

The rest of the lineup for this week’s AEW Dynamite includes:

  • AEW Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks vs. The Sydal Brothers in a title eliminator match
  • Penta El Zero Miedo vs. Orange Cassidy
  • Brian Cage vs. Hangman Page
  • Kris Statlander vs. Penelope Ford
  • Nightmare Family (Dustin Rhodes/Lee Johnson/Billy Gunn) vs. The Factory (QT Marshall/Aaron Solow/Nick Comoroto)
  • Inner Circle/Pinnacle parley

Darby Allin vs. Jungle Boy TNT title match set for AEW Dynamite

Darby Allin will defend the TNT title against Jungle Boy on AEW Dynamite.

The company confirmed the match for next week’s episode. The match came after Darby Allin told Tony Khan on Twitter to pick him an opponent from the top 5 men’s rankings. Later, AEW’s social media announced that Tony Khan had picked Jungle Boy.

“The @AEWonTNT Champion called for any Top 5 contender in a title match on Dynamite & AEW GM @TonyKhan has booked a top challenger!” they wrote. “TNT Champion @DarbyAllin will defend the title vs. the unbeaten #3 ranked wrestler in AEW: Jungle Boy on #AEWDynamite on TNT Wednesday 8pm ET/7pm CT!”

Allin successfully defended the TNT title on this week’s episode of Dynamite, defeating Matt Hardy in a falls count anywhere match to retain the title.

Also announced for next week’s Dynamite:

  • Hikaru Shida vs. Tay Conti for the AEW Women’s World title
  • Hangman Page vs. Ricky Starks
  • Christian Cage vs. Powerhouse Hobbs
  • Penta El Zero Miedo vs. Trent

Page vs. Hardy, multi-man ladder match added to AEW Revolution

A new match has been added to AEW Revolution.

Hangman Page will face Matt Hardy in a singles match. If Page wins, he gets 100% of Hardy’s profits during the first quarter of 2021. However, if Hardy wins, he gets 100% of Page’s earnings. This follows what happened during the opening moments of tonight’s Dynamite, where Page & Hardy defeated The Hybrid 2. After they won, Page revealed to Hardy that he had switched contracts last week, and instead of them becoming a tag team, Hardy had instead signed a contract to a match against Page at Revolution.

Additionally, a ladder match has been added to the event. Called the Face of the Revolution ladder match, the winner will get a shot at Darby Allin’s TNT title. Cody Rhodes made the announcement tonight, saying that he, Scorpio Sky, and Penta El 0 M have already been entered.

Matches already announced for Revolution include Kenny Omega vs. Jon Moxley in a barbed wire death match for the AEW World title, Young Bucks vs. Chris Jericho and MJF for the AEW World Tag Team titles, Hikaru Shida vs. the winner of the AEW Women’s title eliminator tournament, and Brian Cage & Ricky Starks vs. Darby Allin and Sting in a street fight.

AEW reveals new TNT Championship design on Dynamite

AEW introduced a new version of the TNT title that was revealed tonight on Dynamite.

Darby Allin entered the ring revealing a new design of the TNT title, which had a black strap instead of a red one. He participated in a weigh-in that also featured Brian Cage, who he will defend the title against next week on night two of New Year’s Smash.

The weigh-in ended when Allin prepared himself for a fight against all of Team Taz. Sting then came out to make the save, with Taz cutting a promo on the entrance ramp promising we’d see a new TNT champion next week.

It was noted during last week’s Dynamite post-show that Brodie Lee’s son, Brodie Lee Jr., would keep the TNT title given to him during last week’s Brodie Lee tribute show. It was also said that a new version of the TNT title would be given to Allin.

Allin has held the title for 59 days, defeating Cody Rhodes at Full Gear back on November 7 to win the title for the first time.

Sting appearance announced for AEW New Year’s Smash night one

Two new segments have been announced for the first night of New Year’s Smash.

Tony Khan announced this evening that Sting will be making an appearance on the show. Sting has been a regular on Dynamite in recent weeks, usually in segments where Darby Allin and Cody appear. He and Allin appeared on last week’s show, sending Team Taz (Brian Cage, Ricky Starks, and Powerhouse Hobbs) bailing after they attacked the team of Cody Rhodes, Orange Cassidy, and 10 of the Dark Order following their match.

Allin will also be on the show as part of a weigh-in with his future opponent, Brian Cage. Allin is scheduled to defend the TNT title against Cage on January 13, the second night of New Year’s Smash.

Here is the full card for tomorrow’s show:

  • Kenny Omega vs. Rey Fenix for the AEW World title
  • Cody Rhodes vs. Matt Sydal
  • Hikaru Shida vs. Abadon for the AEW Women’s title
  • The Young Bucks & SCU (Frankie Kazarian and Christopher Daniels) vs. The Acclaimed & TH2
  • Jake Hager vs. Wardlow
  • Jon Moxley scheduled to return
  • Chris Jericho to appear on commentary
  • Snoop Dogg to appear

Brodie Lee notes: Record T-shirt sales, AEW TNT title, more

The wrestling world has responded to the Brodie Lee Celebration of Life tribute edition of AEW Dynamite.

Pro Wrestling Tees announced on Wednesday night that AEW’s Brodie Lee tribute T-shirt set their company record for sales in a 24-hour period in less than two hours, before the tribute episode of Dynamite was even finished. Pro Wrestling Tees then announced that the T-shirt had become the highest selling shirt of 2020 in just under four hours.

AEW President Tony Khan noted that he purchased the rights in perpetuity to Tom Waits’ “Ol’ 55,” which was the song used in the show-closing tribute video for Lee.

“Thank you everyone who joined us tonight on #AEWDynamite to celebrate the life of Jon Huber, known to fans as Mr. Brodie Lee,” Khan tweeted. “It was a great honor to host his family Amanda, Brodie & Nolan. I bought the rights to Ol’ 55 by Tom Waits in perpetuity so that tribute will last forever.”

On AEW Dynamite’s post-show, Tony Schiavone mentioned that Brodie Lee Jr. will keep the TNT Championship belt that was given to him at the end of the tribute show. The title given to Brodie Lee Jr. was the real TNT title belt. Darby Allin, the current TNT Champion, will receive a new belt.

Both AEW and WWE talent took to social media to praise last night’s Dynamite and to pay tribute to Lee. Big E, Sasha Banks, Mustafa Ali, Kevin Owens, Daniel Bryan, Sami Zayn, Bayley, Cody Rhodes, Anna Jay, Tony Schiavone, Bryce Remsburg, and Lance Archer are some of the names who tweeted their thoughts:

Cody-Cassidy TNT title rematch set for October 28 AEW Dynamite

A rematch between Cody and Orange Cassidy for the TNT title has been set.

The two wrestled for twenty minutes last night on Dynamite, reaching a draw. After a back and forth match, Cassidy caught Cody in his mouse trap pinning combination, but time expired before the referee could count to three.

It was later announced on the show that the rematch will take place on the October 28 edition of Dynamite.

Darby Allin was shown in the crowd, observing the match. After the two went to a time limit draw, he applauded. Announcers said that he would be getting a TNT title shot at Full Gear, which takes place on November 7.

Other title matches that took place on tonight’s anniversary show had FTR retain the AEW Tag Team titles over Best Friends, Hikaru Shida retaining the AEW Women’s title against Big Swole, and Jon Moxley retaining the AEW World title over Lance Archer in a no disqualification match.

Mr. Brodie Lee TNT title celebration announced for AEW Dynamite

Mr. Brodie Lee will celebrate his TNT title victory on Dynamite this Thursday.

AEW’s social media confirmed the segment this afternoon. It comes as Lee squashed Cody to win the championship on Dynamite this past Saturday, ending Cody’s 91 day reign with the championship.

The squash was brutal enough that Cody had to be stretchered out after the match. The rest of the Dark Order, however, blocked the medics from taking Cody to the backstage area. The show ended with the Dark Order taking out Cody, Arn Anderson, and the rest of the Nightmare Family, with Lee dumping remnants of the old TNT title on Cody.

Already announced for next week’s Dynamite include Matt Hardy vs. Sammy Guevara, a tag team gauntlet match featuring The Natural Nightmares, Young Bucks, Best Friends, and FTR with the winners getting a AEW Tag Team title shot at All Out, Big Swole vs. Britt Baker, Rebel, and Penelope Ford in a handicap match, and a contract signing between MJF and Jon Moxley for their match at All Out.

Due to the NBA playoffs, Dynamite won’t air in its normal timeslot this week. Instead, it will air the following day, Thursday, at 8 p.m. EST.

Cody update set for next AEW Dynamite

AEW will give an update on Cody’s condition on the next Dynamite.

Their social media confirmed that an update will be given next next week following an attack that took place at the end of Saturday’s Dynamite.

Cody was set to defend the TNT title in the main event against Mr. Brodie Lee. Lee completely dominated the match, pinning Cody relatively quickly with the discus lariat to win the championship, ending Cody’s run with the title after 91 days.

Lee and the rest of the Dark Order eventually attacked Cody, preventing him from getting medical help. The rest of  the Nightmare Family (Dustin Rhodes and QT Marshall) were laid out as Lee attacked Cody with a satchel. Brandi Rhodes came out to shield her husband from further attack, but was choked out by The Dark Order’s Anna Jay.

Lee finished the assault by dumping the contents of the satchel on Cody: the remnants of the former TNT title.

Due to the NBA playoffs, This week’s episode of Dynamite will air on Thursday at 8 p.m. ET.
