Two matches announced for ROH CMLL Global Wars Mexico

Two matches have been announced for ROH & CMLL’s Global Wars event.

The show will be held on Wednesday, the same day as AEW Grand Slam Mexico. Tony Khan announced two matches for the event, the first being a singles match between ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty and Blue Panther, who both picked up wins during the recent DEAN~!2 event held before Double or Nothing.

“After both men were victorious at DEAN~!2 to honor the late great Dean Rasmussen, ROH Pure Champion @theleemoriarty will fight vs icon Blue Panther in Arena México Wednesday!,” he wrote.

Additionally, a tag match will be taking place. ROH Women’s Champion Athena and protoge Billie Starkz will face Thunder Rosa and Persephone.

“After Thunder’s altercation with The Fallen Goddess, La Mera Mera will team with Persephone vs ROH Women’s World Champion Athena + Billie Starkz!,” Khan wrote.

Thunder Rosa in a promo earlier in the month indicated she would be teaming with CMLL’s Persephone in Arena Mexico:

ROH CMLL Global Wars lineup:

  • Lee Moriarty vs. Blue Panther
  • Athena & Billie Starkz vs. Thunder Rosa & Persephone

Ring of Honor TV live results: Persephone debuts

Ahead of the upcoming AEW/ROH vs. CMLL week in Mexico, Persephone will make her promotional debut on tonight’s Ring of Honor on HonorClub.

The young CMLL star will team with former AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa will take on CMLL’s Dulce Tormenta and Leila Grey. It’s Tormenta’s first ROH bout since July 2024.

ROH Women’s World Champion Athena will return for the first time since the AEW Owen Hart Foundation women’s tournament as she hosts a Proving Ground match against Rachel Armstrong. A win or draw by the challenger gives her a future title shot.

Wheeler Yuta of the Death Riders will look for his fourth straight win as he faces Aaron Solo.

The show is rounded by an initiation by The Frat House.

A bunch of debuts and a returning champion headlined this week’s episode of ROH on Honorclub (number 119 for those scoring at home).

Persephone & Thunder Rosa vs. Dulce Tormenta & Leila Grey

CMLL’s Persephone makes her ROH debut here teaming up with none other than Thunder Rosa. Rosa last appeared in ROH with a win back in February over Brittnie Brooks. Their adversaries are ROH mainstay Leila Grey and CMLL’s Dulce Tormenta who just a couple of weeks ago won the GCWA Women’s Championship. Neato!

Persephone kicked things off against Grey and the crowd was already chanting for both. Persephone wasted no time in laying out Grey with a big scoop slam. That brought in Rosa who used speed to get a few near falls on Grey. Grey fought back with a sunset flip though and a couple of rollups.

Grey has really stepped up her game, delivering punishing strikes to Rosa before tagging Tormenta in. Persephone followed suit and these two put on a Luchadore show that was fantastic. Persephone was in total control until Tormenta dodged a big splash from the top rope.

Grey tagged in and took the fight to Persephone, hitting a shining wizard into a dragon sleeper. Rosa broke up the hold, but Grey locked it right back in. Persephone came back with a spear worthy of that Copeland guy.

Tormenta and Rosa faced off next with Rosa getting the upper hand with a huge dropkick. Rosa locked in a cobra clutch on Tormenta and she was forced to quickly tap out. Fun match!

Match Result: Persephone & Thunder Rosa defeated Dulce Tormenta & Leila Grey

-Footage was shown of the Frat House backstage, bragging about their drinking skills. They called Ian Riccaboni over and yelled at him about the way he talked about them on commentary. He asked what was next for the Frat House and they offered Riccaboni a drink. Then they yelled the boooooooze part of their catchphrase and left…

…Which brought us to the entrance ramp. Someone tragically gave Jameson a mic and he yelled Fraaaaaat Hoooouuuse and claimed that “hot chicks” were watching Ring of Honor for the first time because of them.

The Frat House were holding an “initiation” and had two pledges with them. Immediately they began beating them up, four on two. Vance let the pledges know that they could be in the group if they win a match against Garrison and Karter.

The Frat House (Griff Garrison and Cole Karter) vs. Two Unnamed Pledges

They never got around to saying the names of the two pledges (but I think one was Dale Springs? Maybe?) Any way, Jameson yelled at them while Garrison and Karter beat them up.

There really wasn’t much to say about this entirely pointless “match.” Surprising no one, Garrison got a pin and that was it.

“Match” Result: The Frat House (Griff Garrison and Cole Karter) defeated Two Unnamed Pledges

-Backstage Persephone and Thunder Rosa cut a promo. Persephone asked Rosa to join her in CMLL for a match since their ROH match went so well. Rosa accepted and that was that.

Wheeler Yuta vs. Aaron Solo

Yuta, who’s playoff beard is admirable but out of control, is six-time ROH Pure champion who just barely survived Anarchy in The Arena at AEW Double or Nothing just 10 days ago. Solo is still the BTW Heavyweight Champion and a genuine workhorse, so this match looks promising from the get-go.

Both men waved off the Code of Honor and locked right up. Yuta seemed to underestimate Solo and left himself open for a couple of chin locks. Yuta turned to strikes then and Solo returned the favor, followed buy a quick dropkick.

Yuta turned the tables with a big suplex and elbow drop from the top rope. Yuta locked in an inside grapevine and started posing, leaving himself open to some shots form Solo. Yuta caught him with a german suplex but missed on the follow through allowing Solo to hit a double stomp form the top rope.

Yuta caught Solo with a big knee to the head and that knocked him clean out. 1-2-3 and Yuta got the win.

Match Result: Wheeler Yuta defeated Aaron Solo

-Backstage, MxMxTV joined us to announce that Mansoor is going to face ROH World Champion Bandido in a Proving Ground match! Taya Valkyrie translated Mansoor’s broken Spanish and predicted that he would win next week’s contest.

ROH Women’s World Champion Athena vs. Rachel Armstrong in a non-title Proving Ground match

Ring of Honor’s Forever Champion Athena is back! Athena’s last ROH match was a tag team win with Diamante back in March that was largely used as something to rub in the face of the Milhouse of Minions, Billie Starkz. Tonight, Athena took on Rachel Armstrong in her ROH debut in a proving ground match. Yeesh, talk about trial by fire…

Athena is not a tall champion, but Armstrong actually looked tiny next to her. The crowd welcomed back Athena, who offered up a Code of Honor and then quickly turned it into a Punch In The Face of Honor.

Athena did not let up from there. She pounded Armstrong in the corner to the point the Ref had to stop it. Armstrong tried to get some offense in with an arm drag and quick super kick followed by a DDT. Armstrong went up top, but Athena slid out of the ring. Armstrong tried a suicide dive, but Athena caught her and threw her into the barricades over and over.

The crowd chanted for Athena who responded by throwing Armstrong into the steel ring stairs. She tossed Armstrong back into the ring and clubbed her in the back of the head. Repeatedly.

Armstrong then got a near fall by reversing a powerbomb attempt into a hurricanrana. That upset the champ and she pulled Armstrong up to the second rope in an electric chair. Armstrong rained down punches though and Athena had to bail. Armstrong went for a 450 but Athena dodged it and picked her up for a sit out powerbomb. That got her the three count and the win in her big return.

Match Result: Athena defeated Rachel Armstrong

After the match, Athena continued beating up Armstrong in the ring. The ref tried to stop her, but Athena tossed him out of the ring. Suddenly, Thunder Rosa appeared and chased Athena out of the ring. Athena sulked up the ramp, but forgot her title belt. Rosa held it up in the ring which made Athena very very angry.

After the match, not unlike an after credits scene in a Marvel movie, a video aired. A spaceship landed in the desert where a certain group of boys were waiting. The flying saucer landed and the door to the ship opened and out stepped…. DALTON CASTLE!

Bandido & CRU announced for AEW vs. CMLL show, Thunder Rosa set for Fantasticamania

During Wednesday’s CMLL Informa, several AEW stars were announced for upcoming CMLL events as part of AEW Grand Slam Mexico week in June.

Bandido & CRU

The reigning Ring of Honor World Champion take on Mascara Dorada on Tuesday, June 17th at Arena Mexico in his first CMLL appearance since May 2021.

That same show will feature CRU (Action Andretti & Lio Rush) challenging CMLL Tag Team Champions Hermanos Chavez (Angel de Oro & Niebla Roja). It will be the promotional debuts for both Andretti and Rush.

The night is being billed as an AEW/ROH vs. CMLL event.

Thunder Rosa

Former AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa will make her promotional debut, taking on CMLL Women’s Tag Team Champion La Jarochita at Fantasticamania Mexico on Friday, June 20th in Arena Mexico. The match marks Rosa’s first bout in the country since a July 2019 tag team match for NLL.

The centerpiece of the week is AEW making their Dynamite debut in Arena Mexico on Wednesday, June 18th.

Swerve vs. PAC, Thunder Rosa vs. Kris Statlander set for AEW Dynamite

Two matches have been announced for AEW Dynamite.

The follow-up to Dynasty will feature Kris Statlander taking on Thunder Rosa in a quarterfinal match of the women’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament. Toni Storm, who retained the AEW Women’s Championship on Sunday, will be on commentary. Storm previously mentioned she would be at Dynamite to observe the participants in the tournament that will decide her All In opponent.

Swerve Strickland will be in action, taking on PAC. Strickland was unsuccessful in winning back the AEW World Championship from Jon Moxley, who had help from not only the Death Riders, but the returning Young Bucks. PAC, Claudio Castagnoli, and Wheeler Yuta were successful in retaining the Trios titles against Rated FTR.

Yuta & Castagnoli will also be in action Wednesday, taking on Samoa Joe and Hook of The Ops. The former, along with Katsuyori Shibata, attempted to even the odds during the Strickland/Moxley match by brawling with the rest of the Death Riders to the back.

Here is the updated card for Dynamite:

  • Swerve Strickland vs. PAC
  • Owen Hart Foundation women’s tournament quarterfinal: Kris Statlander vs. Thunder Rosa (Toni Storm on commentary)
  • Wheeler Yuta & Claudio Castagnoli vs. Samoa Joe & Hook

Mercedes Mone, Athena among five new names declaring for AEW’s Owen Hart Cup tournament

Five new names have been officially announced for the 2025 Owen Hart Cup Women’s tournament.

During the March 29 episode of AEW Collision in Milwaukee Athena, Mercedes Moné, Jamie Hayter, Kris Statlander and Thunder Rosa all officially announced their participation in this year’s tournament.

Moné declared after an intense in-ring interaction with Athena, which saw the ROH Women’s World Champion finally confront “The CEO” after weeks of insults about the person who taught Starkz, which is none other than “The Fallen Goddess.”

After things got physical between the two, Moné avoided an O-Face from Athena, instead striking Mone’s opponent Robyn Renegade. It was later announced during a backstage segment that Athena would be entering the tournament as well, looking to do the same thing Moné has been doing, which is collecting more gold to add to her collection.

As Rosa and Statlander declared during a Lexy Nair interview segment, Rosa vowed to do whatever it takes to win and hold the Owen Hart Cup over her head. Statlander told her that wouldn’t happen if they crossed paths along the way.

With five new names now in the mix, they join rising star and the first-ever ROH Women’s World Television Champion Billie Starkz as the officially confirmed competitors on the women’s side of the tournament.

AEW has also confirmed that the 2025 Owen Hart Cup Tournament brackets for the men and women will be unveiled during the April 2 episode of AEW Dynamite in Peoria, IL. The winner will earn an AEW Women’s World Championship match at AEW All In: Texas on July 12 in Arlington, TX.

On the men’s side, the tournament is already shaping up to be a highly competitive affair. Former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Jay White, former AEW World Champion “Hangman” Adam Page, and former AEW International Champion Will Ospreay have all thrown their names into the hat, setting the stage for an explosive showdown.

Megan Bayne vs. Thunder Rosa announced for AEW Collision

A new match has been announced for Saturday’s Collision.

Tony Khan announced on social media that Thunder Rosa will be taking on Megan Bayne. This follows several weeks of confrontations between the two.

“After weeks of tension + altercations, former @AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa will collide vs Megan Bayne on Saturday Night Collision, TOMORROW!” Khan wrote.

Since making her return to AEW, Bayne has focused on Thunder Rosa, defeating her and Kris Statlander in a tag team match last month. On Dynamite this week Bayne made it clear that the AEW Women’s Championship was on her radar, attacking and laying out Toni Storm while she was cutting a promo on stage.

Later on Dynamite, Bayne attacked Kris Statlander and Willow Nightingale after they won a tag match, standing tall for a second time.

Here is the lineup for the next Collision:

  • AEW International Title Eliminator tournament: Katsuyori Shibata vs. Ricochet
  • AEW International Title Eliminator tournament: Mark Briscoe vs. Mark Davis
  • FTR vs. The Undisputed Kingdom (Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong)
  • Megan Bayne vs. Thunder Rosa

Tag team match announced for AEW Dynamite

A new match has been added to the lineup for Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite.

Kris Statlander & Thunder Rosa vs. Megan Bayne & Penelope Ford is now scheduled for the show.

AEW announced the news on Sunday, writing, “Weeks of tension finally boil over in this huge Tag Team Match on Wednesday Night Dynamite at 8/7c on TBS + Max!”

Last week on AEW Dynamite, Bayne defeated Statlander with some assistance from Ford at ringside. After the match, Bayne and Ford continued their attack until Rosa ran out to make the save. The segment ended awkwardly, as Bayne and Ford didn’t back down from Rosa, forcing her to repeatedly feign swinging a chair until they eventually left. Our own Dave Meltzer called it “the weirdest segment of the week” in last week’s edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Wednesday’s show is scheduled for the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento, California.

AEW Dynamite lineup for Wednesday, March 5, 2025:

  • Cope vs. Wheeler Yuta
  • Swerve Strickland & Ricochet AEW Revolution contract signing
  • Megan Bayne & Penelope Ford vs. Kris Statlander & Thunder Rosa

Thunder Rosa addresses awkward AEW Dynamite segment with Megan Bayne

Thunder Rosa has addressed the “awkward” ending to a post-match angle from last week’s AEW Dynamite.

Rosa came out to save Kris Statlander from a post-match attack by Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford on the show. However, Bayne and Ford seemed unfazed by Rosa’s run-in, even though she was wielding a chair at the time. Ford stood in front of Bayne, but neither backed down as Rosa feigned swinging the chair at them. The segment ended when Bayne and Ford finally left the ring.

Fightful Select later reported that a producer or coach did not properly direct the talent on where they needed to be during the segment.

Rosa addressed what happened on today’s episode of Busted Open Radio.

“You guys saw what happened. From that, I have learned so much. The takeaways I have as a performer are always ask questions. Be sure of what you’re doing in the segment. The segment didn’t go the way we wanted to, and it showed,” she said (transcriptions via Fightful).

“There is no drama,” she continued. “We were all talking before the show and praising each other. We’re trying to be as positive as possible. I enjoy coming to work and I’m not the only one. Statlander was so supportive and nice. We were all going over stuff and receiving feedback. It was all positive. There is nobody trying to kill each other and stuff. There is no point. How are we going to grow if we’re fighting? Mistakes are made. It happened. We have to grow, we talked, and it was fine.”

Our own Dave Meltzer addressed what happened during the segment in last week’s edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, referring to it as the “weirdest segment of the week.”

“Thunder Rosa ran in with a chair for the save. Ford got in front of Bayne. I don’t know if they were supposed to bail out and didn’t. Obviously Rosa wasn’t supposed to hit them. So she went to hit them, they stood there and she stopped. I mean this just looked terrible,” Meltzer wrote.

He continued, “That’s the negative of so much pre-planning is that when things go wrong, nobody has the instinctive skill like the guys who worked 200 to 300 nights, because you would never see top guys of the past just freeze when something goes wrong like that.”

Chris Jericho vs. Anthony Bowens set for final AEW Rampage

The final edition of AEW Rampage will feature Ring of Honor World Champion Chris Jericho in action.

Jericho will take on Anthony Bowens of The Acclaimed in non-title action after the two had a confrontation on last Saturday’s Collision. Jericho and the Learning Tree were verbally running down Big Boom AJ and Big Justice when Bowens came out to defend them and call out Jericho.

Hook will look to continue to avenge The Patriachy’s October attack on Taz as he goes one-on-one with Nick Wayne.

AEW Tag Team Champions Private Party will also be on the show in non-title action, taking on Alec Price & Leo Sparrow. The champions are awaiting a date when they will defend against Lio Rush & Action Andretti.

The card is rounded out by Thunder Rosa vs. Leila Grey ahead of Rosa’s challenge of AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May at Saturday’s Worlds End.

Rampage was not part of the AEW/WBD TV rights renewal which begins in January 2025.

Here’s the full lineup that was taped this past Sunday at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City:

  • ROH World Champion Chris Jericho vs. Anthony Bowens in a non-title match
  • AEW Tag Team Champions Private Party vs. Leo Sparrow & Alec Price in a non-title match
  • Hook vs. Nick Wayne
  • Thunder Rosa vs. Leila Grey

Two title matches announced for AEW Worlds End

The lineup for the year-end All Elite Wrestling pay-per-view event continued to take shape on Saturday night.

During this week’s taped episode of AEW Collision: Winter is Coming, two new championship matches were announced. Mariah May will defend the AEW Women’s title against Thunder Rosa in a Tijuana Street Fight, while Konosuke Takeshita will defend the AEW International title against Powerhouse Hobbs.

In a backstage segment in the first hour of Collision, Thunder Rosa spoke with Tony Schiavone for a brief interview. After “meeting” the “new” Toni Storm, who crashed the interview to fawn over the former AEW Women’s Champion and legendary commentator, Rosa got down to business, saying her father will be with her in spirit when she squares off against “The Glamour”, confirming the title match for later this month.

Additionally, the second hour of the show saw Don Callis in a backstage promo segment announcing that “The Alpha” Konosuke Takeshita will be defending his AEW International Championship against former Don Callis Family member Powerhouse Hobb.

AEW Worlds End 2024 is scheduled to take place on December 28 from the Addition Financial Arena in Orlando, Florida, featuring the following advertised lineup:

* Jon Moxley (c) vs. Orange Cassidy vs. Hangman Page vs. Jay White (AEW Title)
* MJF (c) vs. Adam Cole (Dynamite Diamond Ring)
* 2024 AEW Continental Classic League Finals & Championship Finals
* Mariah May (c) vs. Thunder Rosa in a Tijuana Street Fight (AEW Women’s Title)
* Konosuke Takeshita (c) vs. Powerhouse Hobbs (AEW International Title)

AEW Collision live results: Mariah May vs. Anna Jay Women’s title match

AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May will defend her title against Anna Jay on tonight’s live AEW Collision from Philadelphia.

Two weeks ago at Battle of the Belts XII, Jay pinned May in an upset to earn the shot. Jay has been looking to prove herself since returning from Japan, saying she has improved tremendously. May will be looking for her fourth title defense.

AEW World Champion Jon Moxley will also be making an appearance. He and the rest of the Blackpool Combat Club have been going after everyone who stands in their way. On Dynamite, Orange Cassidy threw out the challenge to Moxley for Full Gear after Moxley took out Chuck Taylor.

The reborn Kyle Fletcher will take on Komander, who scored an upset win over Lio Rush on Friday’s Rampage.

After feuding for the last several weeks, Thunder Rosa will meet Harley Cameron in what is being billed as a Day of the Dead match.

Private Party Town Hall

This was a nice follow-up to Dynamite, giving Private Party some focus after their big tag team title win. This wasn’t Hard Times or anything, but it was a fine little segment.

Collision began with a collection of wrestlers in the ring and on the stage. Tony Schiavone welcomed out the new AEW World Tag Team Champions Private Party. They thanked the Young Bucks for pushing them to be their absolute best before letting the assorted tag teams around ringside know they were willing to defend their titles against anybody. They got in FTR’s faces and a little shoving commenced, but The Outrunners broke it up and reminded everyone that this was a celebration. They started an AEW chant before Kassidy closed things out.

Separately, Mariah May & Anna Jay walked into the building ahead of their Women’s Title match tonight. Jay cut a short promo saying there would be a new champion tonight.

The Acclaimed were backstage with Renee Paquette. When asked about the changing of the guard in the tag team division, Anthony Bowens congratulated Private Party but noted that they were coming back for the titles. Max Caster interrupted Bowens’ catchphrase to brag about their popularity, with fans giving them money and friendship bracelets. (Don’t let CM Punk see!) To Bowens’ surprise, Caster also pulled out one of MVP’s business cards, noting that Private Party hadn’t gotten an offer from MVP like the Acclaimed had. Bowens cut Caster off to hit his catchphrase and end this enlightening interview.

(I love MVP casting a wide net to see how many people he can get into the Hurt Syndicate. I also enjoy some friction with the Acclaimed, as I’ve grown tired of their act.)

Day Of The Dead Match – Thunder Rosa defeated Harley Cameron

This was a fun little bit of plunder to kick off the wrestling on this show.

This was a no-disqualification match, with Day of the Dead-themed weapons around ringside. Both came out with face paint, Cameron’s more resembling a day at the fair than Dia De Los Muertos. Rosa came out with a picture of Cameron that she sat in a Dia De Los Muertos tribute at ringside. She also had skeleton paint on her body, giving me an excuse to bring up La Parka. Rosa hit Cameron with some plunder around ringside before Cameron cut off a barricade walk. Rosa came right back by throwing Cameron through a big board with a sugar skull skeleton on it.

The two traded clotheslines as we came back from a commercial before they took each other down with hairmares. Rosa hit a lungblower for a nearfall before setting up a chair contraption. She took too long, allowing Cameron to hit her with a SHOOT PINATA before putting her through the contraption for a nearfall. I think there were M&M’s or Skittles in there. God forbid they were Reese’s Pieces. Cameron went for a shining wizard to a seated Rosa, but Rosa moved, and Cameron kicked the chair.

Rosa stuffed Cameron in a trash can and kicked her into the corner. Rosa then set up a table as a ramp before launching with a hesitation dropkick to a binned Cameron for the win.

A freshly shaven Roderick Strong & The Kingdom were backstage with Lexy Nair, with Strong warning SHANE Taylor that he was just an obstacle on his path to MJF. Strong put over his group’s accomplishments, with the Kingdom winning a three-way tag match on last week’s Rampage and Adam Cole coming back better than ever. Brian Cage & Lance Archer walked in to talk trash and tell them to stay out of their way.

Kyle Fletcher defeated Komander (w/ Alex Abrahantes)

This was a must-see match with two stellar young talents in AEW. The crowd being so against Fletcher made it easy for Komander’s normally impressive moveset to get an even bigger reaction. Fletcher has been great in these big spots on TV, and the turn is giving him great momentum into the eventual Will Ospreay match. The Mark Davis diversion is a great call, as he can be a road block match on the way to Ospreay. Just excellent stuff all around.

Fletcher now has Taichi-style tearaway pants, ripping them off and throwing them in Komander’s face to sneak a big boot in. Fletcher caught Komander on a reverse crossbody, but Komander got him into a crucifix hold for a nearfall before running wild on offense. Komander went for a fancy lucha armdrag, but Fletcher shoved Komander off the top rope to the floor. Fletcher followed with a powerbomb on the apron as we went to a commercial break.

After the commercial, Fletcher had Komander in the tree of woe, but Komander somehow caught Fletcher to hit an Avalanche Sliced Bread off the top rope. Fletcher juked Komander on a dive attempt and hit a dive of his own before booting Abrahantes in the face. Komander came back with a step-up moonsault to the floor to a big pop. Back in the ring, Komander scored with a Spanish Fly for a nearfall.

Komander went for a moonsault, but Fletcher countered by booting Komander in the face. Fletcher hit a Last Ride powerbomb for a nearfall. Fletcher teased the Tiger Driver, but Komander countered with a hurricanrana for a nearfall. Fletcher caught Komander on his shoulders on a poisonrana attempt, but Komander pulled Fletcher to the outside and hit the poisonrana on the floor.

Komander hit a Destino on the apron, then followed up with a top rope moonsault for a nearfall. Fletcher scored with a lariat before following with a running boot. Komander slipped out of a top rope Brainbuster attempt before sending Fletcher to the outside with a step-up Destroyer. Komander hit his Spaceman dive to the outside, but when he tried his ropewalk Shooting Star Press, Fletcher booted the rope to knock him down. Fletcher hit a running boot and the top rope Brainbuster for the win.

After the match, Fletcher laid more punches on Komander before Mark Davis came out to stop him. They barked at each other before Fletcher bailed out.

TNT Champion Jack Perry was backstage. He was cutting one of his grumpy promos with his back to the camera when Daniel Garcia walked in. Garcia wanted to put Perry against the wall again like he did on Dynamite but wanted to try a different approach to get through to him. Garcia wanted Perry to know that he’s dealt with pretentious people like Perry all of his life and that Perry didn’t know anything about him. Perry said that he knew Garcia because he was Garcia, having walked the path that Garcia walked. He gave everything to AEW because he loved it, but AEW turned his back on him all the same. He said that Garcia saw who succeeded around here, and that Garcia was afraid to be the person he needed to be to succeed. Perry told Garcia that his unwillingness to sacrifice was why he wasn’t ready.

(This was an excellent bit of business here. Perry has made the dynamic between these two clear and compelling. These are two sides of the same coin, with Perry as the burnt-out, bitter counterpart to Garcia’s ascending, rah-rah babyface.)

Lance Archer & Brian Cage defeated Shaun Smith & Joe Keys

This was a murder, with Smith getting pinned after a chokebomb. They murdered these poor goons some more after the match. They murdered these poor goons some more after the match, leading to The Undisputed Kingdom running them off. Kyle O’Reilly was in the back looking on. Shane Taylor was also watching as Strong was his opponent later tonight.

AR Fox was in the back with Lexy Nair. He was about to talk about what was next for him when Nick Wayne & The Patriarchy walked in. Wayne told Fox that his father – Christian Cage, of course – taught him to always hold a grudge. Wayne reminded Fox that the biggest mistake of his life was jumping Wayne at his training school last year. Fox cut Wayne off to challenge him to a match for next week’s Collision.

We got a recap of Kris Statlander’s win over Kamille on Dynamite, with Mercedes Mone attacking her after the match. Statlander was backstage, noting that she was pissed after the attack. She said that if Mone was the star she believed herself to be, then facing Statlander at Full Gear wouldn’t be an issue.

Jon Moxley Town Hall

Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta, & Marina Shafir came out. Moxley spoke amongst the people, noting that he would face Philadelphia’s own Orange Cassidy at Full Gear. Moxley warned Cassidy that the games didn’t begin at Full Gear, they had already begun. Moxley said that it was a question of if Cassidy would make it. He said that Philadelphia built tough, hard-nosed people like Wheeler Yuta. Yuta understood what it meant to sacrifice, and he understood what it meant to be a Philadelphia hero.

Action Andretti came out to the ring. He was tired of Yuta claiming to be a hometown hero because he didn’t represent Philadelphia like Andretti did. Andretti challenged any one of them to a fight right now, leading to PAC jumping him from behind. Moxley and crew made their way to ringside, and Bryce Remsburg came into the ring to start the match.

PAC (w/ Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta, & Marina Shafir) defeated Action Andretti

(The match was an enhancement match for PAC, but the segment was a good bit of build for the World Title match. Wheeler Yuta continues to be the most interesting aspect of this story, as he continues to waver in his allegiance to Moxley.)

PAC stomped out Andretti through the commercial break. Andretti came back with a handspring elbow, then followed up with a dive to the floor. Andretti had a flurry of offense that ended with a Falcon Arrow for a nearfall. Yuta distracted the referee as Shafir hit Andretti in the ankle with the briefcase. PAC brought Andretti down with a superplex before snatching on the Brutalizer for the win.

PAC held onto the hold after the bell as the BCC surrounded Andretti. Orange Cassidy appeared in the crowd. He reminded Yuta of their past, living in his and Chuck Taylor’s house when he fell on hard times. The old Wheeler Yuta wouldn’t have allowed the attack on Taylor, and the old Yuta would have realized that Moxley was only using him. He said that he would bring back the old Yuta and stop Moxley’s madness by winning the title at Full Gear.

Moxley told Yuta to go get Cassidy. When Yuta hesitated, Moxley smacked him in the face and told him to go again. Yuta went after Cassidy but hesitated when they came face to face. Cassidy pulled the chair away, then hit the Orange Punch when Yuta went to attack. Moxley was furious and went after Cassidy, but he left through the stands.

Malakai Black was in the House of Black’s rumpus room. He said that when people have sat dormant for too long, they become worse versions of themselves. Black had sat dormant for too long, which is why he stepped up to Adam Cole. He said that he saw people like himself and Cole becoming relics in a rapidly changing AEW, and challenged Cole to fight off the darkness that had already consumed Black.

Konosuke Takeshita & Kyle Fletcher were backstage with Lexy Nair. Fletcher was tired of dealing with the past and was looking toward the future alongside Takeshita. He reminded Private Party that Takeshita & Fletcher beat them earlier in the year, and wanted to move toward a tag team title match. They challenged Ricochet to find a partner to take them on for Dynamite.

Lio Rush defeated Ariya Daivari

Daivari jumped Rush at the bell, but Rush quickly came back with a headscissors. Rush clubbered on Daivari in the corner to the point where the referee had to pull him off, allowing Daivari to clothesline Daivari. Rush outmanuevered Daivari for a flash pin, but Daivari came back with a reverse DDT for a nearfall. Rush came back with a lariat and a Falcon Arrow for a nearfall.

Rush went for a dive, but Daivari threw Woods in the way. Another dive attempt took out Mark Sterling before Rush caught Daivari with a headscissors. Daivari caught Rush with a DDT, but Rush came back with Rush Hour and a frog splash to score the win.

MxM Collection & Johnny TV were backstage with Lexy Nair. Johnny said that MxM had “it,” and offered them a collab any time. Collab is short for collaboration, for those unaware.

Roderick Strong (w/ The Kingdom) defeated Shane Taylor (w/ Lee Moriarty & The Infantry)

(A solid TV win for Strong as he tries to get his hands on MJF as well.)

The Infantry joined Shane Taylor Promotions on a recent episode of Ring of Honor television. Taylor snuck a body shot in as they were against the ropes. MJF was seen watching on, somehow having a live camera in his house. Taylor and Strong hammered each other with chops as their respective units barked at each other on the floor. Strong went to the floor, but it was to bait Taylor for a baseball slide. Taylor caught Strong with a forearm, then hung him over the ropes before dropping him with a stunner.

After a commercial break, Taylor was still in control as the crowd chanted Strong’s name. Strong evaded an apron leg drop and dropkicked Taylor to the floor. Strong hit a set of flying forearms before taking Taylor down with a lariat for a one-count. Taylor was too big for an Olympic Slam, but a Sick Kick softened him up for a successful second attempt and a nearfall. Taylor evaded a knockout knee, then yanked Strong up into a uranage. A splash from Taylor got a nearfall, but Strong slipped out of the package piledriver and scored the win with a knockout knee. An unimpressed MJF watched on.

AEW Women’s World Title Match – Mariah May defeated Anna Jay to retain

(This was what you would expect it to be. The crowd got into Jay well enough, and the Queenslayer nearfall did get interesting after a point. A solid TV defense for May.)

They paint-brushed each other in the corner before locking up. Jay hit a Dangerous Jay kick in the corner before May came back with a back suplex into the corner. Jay fired up with strikes after a commercial break. A shotgun dropkick sent May into the corner, and after a pinning predicament, Jay hit a lungblower and a backstabber for a nearfall.

Jay hit another pair of kicks in the corner but May caught Jay with a choke on the top rope. May hammered Jay with a shotgun dropkick off the top rope. May hit a high-angle back suplex for a nearfall. May caught Jay with a headbutt and a running knee for a nearfall. Jay went for the same flash pin that earned her this title match but May fought out of it.

Jay caught May with a neckbreaker in the ropes, then followed up with a blockbuster for a nearfall. Jay snatched on the Queenslayer choke, and after some fight, May grabbed the referee’s shirt to escape the hold. May dropped Jay neck-first onto the ropes, then caught Jay with a flash pin of her own to score the win and retain the title. May offered a handshake but pulled her hand away to celebrate on the stage.

Day of the Dead match announced for next AEW Collision

AEW is celebrating the Day of the Dead on Collision next week.

In what’s being billed as a “Day of the Dead match,” Thunder Rosa and Harley Cameron will face off on next Saturday’s Collision. The match was set up by a backstage segment that took place on the show tonight. After Cameron mocked her face paint, Rosa confronted Cameron and promised to teach her a lesson when they meet next week.

The Day of the Dead (Dia de Muertos) is a holiday popular in Mexican culture where people celebrate and remember loved ones who have passed away.

A lucha three-way match between Penta El Zero Miedo, El Hijo del Vikingo, and Komander took place on Rampage last year in observance of the holiday. Past the Day of the Dead branding, further stipulation information for the Rosa vs. Cameron match has not been announced.

Next Saturday’s Collision is taking place live from the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia. Kyle Fletcher vs. Komander is another new addition to the episode’s card.

Thunder Rosa says she is still out of action with concussion

Image: AEW

UPDATE: Thunder Rosa has denied Dave Meltzer’s report in this week’s Observer Newsletter, replying on X that she is not cleared.

Original story:

Thunder Rosa should be returning to AEW soon as she has been cleared after suffering a concussion.

Dave Meltzer reported the news in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Rosa revealed she sustained the injury during a Busted Open Radio appearance two weeks ago and said she would need a few weeks to recover. While not confirmed, it’s assumed she sustained it during her August 31st four-way match against Serena Deeb, Queen Aminata and Hikaru Shida.

It’s been a frustrating last two years for the 38-year-old Rosa who was out of action for 16 months due to a back injury, making her return in the last week of December 2023. Since that injury, she has been a regular again, last feuding with Deonna Purrazzo on Collision and finishing their series with a victory in a bullrope match.

She threw out the first pitch at a San Diego Padres MLB game this week as part of Hispanic Heritage Month.
