AEW Dynamite live results: Jericho Cruise episode

AEW Dynamite airs a taped show tonight from Chris Jericho’s Rock ‘n’ Wrestling Rager at Sea.

A number one contender’s match headlines the episode, with first-ranked Jon Moxley taking on fourth-ranked PAC. The winner will face Chris Jericho for the AEW World Championship at Revolution on February 29.

The AEW World Tag Team titles will be on the line when the SCU team of Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky defend against Kenny Omega and Hangman Page. Omega and Page earned the title shot with a win over Best Friends, Young Bucks, and Santana and Ortiz last week.

Jericho will be in action in a six-man tag, teaming with fellow Inner Circle members Santana and Ortiz. They will take on the Jurassic Express trio of Luchasaurus, Jungle Boy and Marko Stunt.

MJF will take on Joey Janela in singles competition, and Britt Baker will face Priscilla Kelly to round out the card.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

AEW WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: KENNY OMEGA & HANGMAN PAGE DEFEATED SCORPIO SKY & FRANKIE KAZARIAN TO WIN THE TITLES

Kazarian and Page began. Kazarian grounded Page with a side headlock. Omega and Sky tagged in. Omega worked on Sky’s left arm. They did a tackle, drop-down, leapfrog, tackle sequence. Very basic offense from everyone in the early part of the match.

Page hit a fall-away slam on Sky. Kazarian blind-tagged himself in and hit Page with a leg lariat and a legdrop for a near fall. Kazarian dumped Page right on his head on a suplex. Omega broke up the ensuing pin attempt.

Kazarian hit Page with an unprettier. Both hit a simultaneous clothesline, into a double down. Omega and Sky tagged in. Omega hit Kazarian with a snap dragon. Omega hit Sky with you can’t escape, aided by a standing shooting star from Page. Page hit Kazarian with a crossbody off the post and they flew over the barrier into the crowd.

Omega hit Sky with a buckle bomb. Sky ducked one V-Trigger, but Omega hit a second. Sky avoided the One-Winged Angel and hit a top rope frankensteiner. Page accidentally hit Omega with a Buckshot Lariat. Sky hit Omega with a TKO for a near fall.

Page hit a tope suicida on the ramp during a commercial break. Sky and Kazarian continued working Omega over during the commercials. Omega hit another V-Trigger on Sky into a double down.

Back from break, Page and Kazarian tagged in. Page hit a fall-away slam off the second rope. Page hit Sky with a German. Omega hit a tiger driver on Kazarian for a two count.

Sky and Kazarian hit SCU Later on Omega. Page broke up the pin, shoving Sky into Kazarian. Page hit a discus lariat and a powerbomb on Kazarian. He then hit a Buckshot Lariat to Sky on the ramp. Page then jumped back inside and hit Kazarian with a Buckshot for the pin.

This started off very methodically but turned into a good match by the end.

The Bucks came out to celebrate with Omega after the match. Rather than celebrate with The Elite, Page drank and crowd surfed.

BRITT BAKER DEFEATED PRISCILLA KELLY

Baker used three quick pinning combinations for near falls right off the bat. Kelly grabbed a chinlock and hit some strikes to the back during a break. Kelly remained in control through the ad break.

Kelly hit a dropkick as the show returned from commercials. They did a series of misdirection spots that were a good idea, but were executed practically in slow motion. Baker hit a slingblade.

They traded near falls, then Baker applied Lockjaw. She used the ropes to push off and keep the hold applied in the center of the ring, and Kelly tapped out.

I find that with most of Baker’s matches, there are a lot of good ideas and they’re laid out very well, the execution is just a little slow. She’ll improve and be very good in a matter of time.

**********

After the match, Tony Schiavone interviewed Baker. He questioned her use of the ropes. Baker heeled on Tony. She mocked him for taking a job at Starbucks at one point before coming to AEW.

Baker said she’s a role model and the hottest girl on this boat. She said she’s smart, educated, brilliant, and a dentist. She was still heeling on Tony as the show went to break.

**********

They showed a replay of Jungle Boy going to a ten minute draw with Jericho last month.

Jericho entered and the crowd sang along with Judas, which was incredible.

CHRIS JERICHO, SANTANA & ORTIZ DEFEATED JURASSIC EXPRESS

This was all Jurassic Express at the outset. They first cut off Ortiz with tandem offense, then Santana. Ortiz made a comeback on Jungle Boy, cutting him off with a leg sweep off the second rope. Jericho got a tag and hit Jungle Boy with two slams during a break.

Inner Circle continued working over Jungle Boy for several minutes. He got a brief hope spot in hitting a crossbody off the second rope on Jericho for a near fall.

Jungle Boy finally managed a tag to Luchasaurus, who hit a tail whip on Santana, a shining lizard on Ortiz, then a double chokeslam. Luchasaurus hit a standing moonsault on Jericho for a near fall.

Jake Hager interfered. Luchasaurus tagged Stunt, then brawled with Hager to the back. Stunt hit a 450 on Jericho for a two count. Stunt got two more quick near falls off cradles. Jericho then hit the Judas Effect and pinned Stunt. Jericho popped open some bubbly after the match.

This was a fine little six-man.

**********

They recapped the MJF and Cody feud with a video package.

MJF DEFEATED JOEY JANELA

MJF offered a handshake. Janela accepted, then MJF spit in his face. MJF used some other classic heel tactics. He bailed outside to stall, then raked Janela’s eyes. MJF worked Janela over with some very basic offense through a commercial break.

After the break, Janela was in control. He hit a superplex for a two count. Janela was distracted as Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford came to the stage and started making out. Janela missed a top rope elbow. MJF hit him with the Double Cross for the pin.

MJF cut a promo on Cody after the match. He called Cody a poet but reminded him that if he’s writing a book, MJF is the last chapter.

Cody entered. MJF reminded him that he can’t touch him or else their match is off. He mocked Cody’s lisp. He offered Cody the mic, then dropped it on the mat. He kicked the mic away from Cody, trying to bait him into a fight.

Cody said, I can’t touch you, but Matt and Nick can. The Young Bucks entered and hit a double superkick on MJF, then threw him into a swimming pool.

The heel work from MJF was great, but the wrestling here was not. Still the segment was a massive win, because swimming pool bumps are always incredible.

**********

Schiavone interviewed Page and Omega. Omega said he was thrilled to be tag champs with one of his best friends. Page said he had vowed to kick SCU’s asses and he did. The Bucks celebrated with Omega. Page said he was surprised that he won the tag titles before the Bucks did, then walked off.

**********

Young Bucks vs. Butcher and Blade, Cody vs. Kip Sabian, and a promo from the winner of tonight’s main event were advertised for next week’s show. The main event is next.

Jericho joined the commentary desk for the main event.

NO. 1 CONTENDER’S MATCH: JON MOXLEY DEFEATED PAC

They began with chain wrestling. Moxley hit a release German. PAC began hitting strikes to Moxley’s bandaged eye. They rolled outside where PAC continued working on the eye.

Moxley made a comeback during a commercial break and they brawled up, down and all over the ship. They made it back to the ring as they returned from the break.

PAC hit a missile dropkick. Moxley no-sold it and hit a lariat. They traded strikes. Moxley hit an x-plex for a near fall.

PAC hit a jawbreaker. They fought on the top rope and Moxley got the best of it. He shoved PAC off and hit an elbow. Moxley sold the elbow on landing, the announcers reminded us that was his staph elbow.

PAC used a Brutalizer. Moxley rolled him over into a pinfall attempt. PAC kicked out and hit some Kawada kicks.

PAC went for Black Arrow. Moxley got his knees up and used a cradle for a near fall. PAC hit a release German. PAC tried another Black Arrow, but missed this one entirely.

PAC hit a superkick. He tried another, but Moxley blocked and hit a double-arm DDT for a two count. PAC rolled outside. Moxley went out after him and threw him back inside. PAC hit a superplex.

PAC again applied a Brutalizer. They did a long tease, but Moxley reached the bottom rope for a break. PAC ripped Moxley’s bandage off. Moxley used a cradle for a near fall.

The finish saw Moxley hit a double-arm DDT out of nowhere. He followed up with the Paradigm Shift and got the pin. Jericho stared down Moxley from the ramp as the show closed.

**********

The wrestling on the show was not nearly as spectacular as it normally is given the setup and limitations of doing a wrestling show on a cruise ship. Still the pacing of the show was worlds better than it has been of late, and the few angles they shot were very well done. This was a thumbs up show.

Spoiler notes and results from Jericho cruise AEW Dynamite taping

Here are spoilers from tonight’s AEW Dynamite tapings, which took place on Chris Jericho’s Rock ‘n’ Rager at Sea: Part Deux cruise boat.

Hangman Page & Kenny Omega defeated SCU (Frankie Kazarian & Scorpio Sky) to win the AEW World Tag Team titles

– This would mark the first title change in AEW history.

Britt Baker defeated Priscilla Kelly

– Baker defeated Kelly by submission. Baker went off on Tony Schiavone following the match.

The Inner Circle (Chris Jericho, Santana & Ortiz) defeated Jurassic Express (Luchasarus, Jungle Boy & Marko Stunt)

MJF defeated Joey Janela

– The Young Bucks & Cody came out for a promo. MJF arrived, taunting that Cody couldn’t touch him as part of the stipulations Cody agreed to last week. However, since there are no rules pertaining to The Young Bucks, they proceeded to lay out MJF.

Jon Moxley defeated PAC

– Moxley’s head was bandaged following the angle last week where Jericho used a spike from his ring jacket to attack Moxley’s eye. Moxley is now the number one contender for Chris Jericho’s AEW World title.

– Jericho came out after the match and stared down Moxley to end the taping.

Moxley, PAC set for AEW World title number one contender’s match

Image: Lee South/AEW

PAC and Jon Moxley will compete on next week’s AEW Dynamite to become the number one contender to AEW World champion Chris Jericho.

Moxley earned his shot with a submission victory over Sami Guevara on Wednesday’s Bash at the Beach edition of Dynamite. However, the entire Inner Circle attacked Moxley after the match with Jericho spiking and injuring Moxley’s eye.

PAC earned his opportunity in the night’s main event with a pinfall victory over Darby Allin following the Black Arrow to Allin’s back. PAC played up the Moxley injury in a post-match promo, but Moxley emerged from an ambulance to cut a promo confirming he will be there next week.

Moxley and PAC went to a draw on on the October 23rd edition of Dynamite.

Next week’s show will be held on Chris Jericho’s Rock’n’Wrestling Rager cruise. The show will feature a tag team title match between champions SCU and Kenny Omega/Hangman Page in addition to Fenix vs. Joey Janela.

Omega & Young Bucks vs. PAC & Lucha Bros set for AEW Dynamite

Kenny Omega and PAC will be facing off in six-man tag team action on AEW’s first show of 2020.

AEW has announced that Omega & The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) will team against PAC & The Lucha Bros (Pentagon Jr. & Fenix) on next Wednesday’s New Year’s Day episode of Dynamite. The show is being held at Daily’s Place amphitheater in Jacksonville, Florida.

The storyline between Omega and PAC has seen PAC demanding a rematch after Omega defeated him on Dynamite last month. They’re 1-1 against each other in singles matches in AEW.

Omega & The Young Bucks vs. PAC & The Lucha Bros was originally scheduled for Fyter Fest back in June, but Laredo Kid replaced PAC in the match after PAC was pulled and didn’t make his AEW in-ring debut until defeating Omega at All Out.

Riho vs. Kris Statlander for the AEW Women’s Championship and Cody Rhodes vs. Darby Allin have also been announced for next week’s Dynamite, and there will be segments where Jon Moxley responds to Chris Jericho’s invitation to join the Inner Circle and MJF gives his stipulations for an upcoming match against Cody.

AEW Dark results: Six-man tag main event

The Big News —

Dr. Britt Baker and Kris Statlander retained their top two contender spots going into their match on Dynamite tomorrow night.

**********

The show started with a recap video from the AEW press conference back in February, which segued into a video of The Young Bucks stating they want to prove they are the best tag team in the business. However, because they’ve lost multiple big matches, they feel disappointed because it proves they haven’t been. They’ve spent months building themselves up and have now earned a title shot tomorrow night after winning last week’s Texas Street Fight.

Nick Jackson called SCU some of their best friends in the world. Matt Jackson said despite that they will show through their actions that they are the best. They just hope that it’s not awkward when they have Christmas dinner next week.

**********

Joining Excalibur at the booth this week is Vickie Guerrero, who got super heat, but also a nice pop when she came out and bellowed “EXCUSE ME!” Vickie is a very nice person, but I thought she was almost completely useless on this show.

*********

AEW Tag Team Champions SoCal Uncensored (Frankie Kazarian & Scorpio Sky) defeated Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen) in a non-title match

Private Party have fallen off the tag team rankings after getting a title shot back at Full Gear. Vickie is really into them, as they have cougar stripes on their gear.

Kazarian and Kassidy traded near falls early on until slapping hands and tagging out. Kazarian later on hit a springboard leg drop on Quen and he nearly landed butt-first on Quen’s head. Speaking of Quen’s head, he then took a German suplex right on it. Excalibur said it was due to Kazarian not expecting Quen to be so light.

Kassidy got the hot tag and ran wild, including hitting a beautiful double team where he picked Sky up and Quen came off the middle rope with a bulldog for a two count. They went to the well with the double teams too many times. They sent Sly into Kazarian in the corner, but Sky gave his partner a monkey flip and Kazarian landed on his feet and took his foes out with a double clothesline.

Quen barely kicked out of a double team foot stomp/Unprettier. Finally, Quen missed a Shooting Star Press and SCU broke up the Silly String before Sky pinned Quen after the S-C-U-later.

**********

We got recaps of Big Swole’s win and Brandi Rhodes’ interview from last Wednesday. It was also announced that Britt Baker will face Kris Statlander in a number one contender’s match tomorrow night.

Updated Women’s Rankings:

  • 5.) Emi Sakura
  • 4.) Nyla Rose
  • 3.) Hikaru Shida
  • 2.) Kris Statlander
  • 1.) Dr. Britt Baker

**********

Dr. Britt Baker submitted Machiko

Joey Janela joined Excalibur and Vickie. Machiko is from Dallas and has been wrestling for eight years. They announced her from Tulsa, so the crowd in Garland didn’t know she was a hometown/area girl.

Machiko got a little bit of offense, but it was The Doctor from the opening bell. Baker hit a superkick and slapped on the Lock Jaw for the win.

**********

Kris Statlander defeated Bea Priestley

The top two AEW women’s division contenders were both in action tonight. First Baker won and now Statlander is defending her number two ranking. If Statlander loses, she will lose her number one contender’s match tomorrow night.

Statlander looked good until they ended up outside the ring, where Priestley dropped her with a back suplex on the ring apron, which is the hardest part of the ring. Vickie said Priestley was “good at concussions” and this led to a joke about Janela having quite a few concussions and not to alert Nowinski.

Priestley tried to put Statlander in the “head stuck in the turnbuckles” spot, which always looks stupid, and Statlander apparently agreed as she just did a headstand on the buckle and then kicked Priestley in the face.

Statlander got out the proverbial hammer and nails as she was building momentum, but The Nightmare Collective walked to their front row seats and held up signs, encouraging Statlander to join them. Coincidence or not, Priestley took over here, so she must have ripped the nails out.

Statlander kicked out of a capture suplex, nearly got the win with an Oklahoma roll and a scissors kick, but did win with The Big Bang Theory.

**********

We got a post-match promo with Statlander. She informed us puny humans that she is going to be our leader. She has to beat Baker tomorrow and says the gravitational pull we feel is the AEW Women’s title coming home to her.

**********

PAC & The Hybrid 2 (Jack Evans & Angelico) defeated Orange Cassidy & Best Friends (Trent Barreta & Chuck Taylor)

Main event time. After I complained last time about there being a 20-minute non-wrestling segment in the show, they drastically cut down this week to almost nothing. In case anyone from AEW actually reads this, I should say I enjoyed those post match promos you guys did one week.

Janela made a Jim Cornette reference by talking about “outlaw mudshows.” Someone let him know Cornette only watches Dynamite. Anyway, Cassidy was super over, as expected, and the heels got the heat when PAC put a knee square in the lower back of Chucky T.

PAC also showed what a bastard he was by not allowing Best Friends to hug when Trent made a brief comeback. This led to PAC putting the boots to his fellow former WWE’er.

This might as well have been a handicap match, as PAC did a much better job by himself than either of The Hybrid 2. Both Evans and Angelico lost the team’s momentum as soon as they tagged in.

Trent hit the half-and-half suplex and managed to make the hot tag to Cassidy. The fans nearly wet themselves. Babies were thrown in the air as Cassidy tagged in. Cassidy put his hands in his pockets to run spots with Evans and then threw a series of vicious leg kicks to PAC. That is an excellent strategy, since Pac relies on his Black Arrow to win matches and can he do it with bad legs?

In all seriousness, Cassidy used a tornado DDT on PAC and then a tope on all three heels. We got a three-way hug by the babyfaces and a top rope splash from Cassidy to Angelico for a two count. Cassidy left a legend as he tagged out. Taylor immediately got cut off and almost pinned after a 450 splash.

PAC booted Cassidy off the apron and the distraction nearly led to Taylor pinning him with a schoolboy, but PAC locked on The Brutalizer for the tap out.

**********

The show ended with Tony Schiavone and Dasha Gonzalez plugging AEWShop.com and AEW Revolution on February 29.

Final Thoughts —

The show went 65 minutes, but flowed quickly and better than last week. While the main event won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, it was a fun match that the crowd really got into.

Kenny Omega vs. PAC rematch set for next week’s AEW Dynamite

AEW’s return to the Sears Centre Arena will include a rematch from their last trip to the venue.

AEW has announced that Kenny Omega will face PAC on next Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. It’s a rematch from All Out, where PAC defeated Omega after replacing Jon Moxley due to Moxley’s MRSA infection.

AEW noted that we’ll also hear from Omega on tonight’s Dynamite. He doesn’t have a match on the show, but he’ll be defending his AAA Mega Championship against Jack Evans on tonight’s AEW Dark tapings. That match will air on YouTube next Tuesday.

After losing to Hangman Page at Full Gear, PAC defeated Page in a rematch on Dynamite last week. The win meant that PAC is now 2-1 against Page in singles matches in AEW.

PAC was ranked first in the men’s division in the top-five roster rankings that AEW released last Friday. Omega didn’t rank in the top five.

Next week’s Dynamite is taking place on the night before Thanksgiving. The Sears Centre Arena was also the venue where All In was held in September 2018.

Tag Team title match, Hangman Page vs. PAC set for AEW Dynamite

After challenges that were issued following Full Gear, AEW has announced two matches for this week’s episode of Dynamite.

AEW World Champion Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara will challenge SCU (Scorpio Sky & Frankie Kazarian) for the AEW Tag Team titles on Dynamite this Wednesday. Hangman Page and PAC will also face off in their third singles match against each other for AEW.

Jericho retained his AEW World title against Cody Rhodes at Full Gear. In his post-show media scrum, Jericho took exception to him and Guevara not being on AEW’s tag team rankings. Jericho said they’re undefeated as a team and will challenge for the Tag Team titles on Wednesday.

SCU retained the AEW Tag Team titles against The Lucha Bros (Pentagon Jr. & Fenix) and Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen) in a triple threat match at Full Gear. In an angle after the match, Christopher Daniels returned and saved Sky and Kazarian from The Lucha Bros.

Page defeated PAC at Full Gear, giving them each one singles win against each other in AEW. Page said after the show that he wanted to have a third match against PAC as soon as possible.

Tony Khan confirmed both matches for this week’s Dynamite during his media scrum after Full Gear. The episode is taking place at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee.

PAC vs. Trent official for AEW Dynamite

AEW has confirmed a second match for this week’s Dynamite.

PAC vs. Trent Barreta is officially set for Wednesday’s Dynamite episode. It’s taking place at Bojangles’ Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina and is the go-home show for Full Gear.

PAC was last in action on Dynamite when he went to a time limit draw with Jon Moxley two weeks ago. PAC’s match for Full Gear was set up after that, with him facing Hangman Page at this Saturday’s pay-per-view.

Trent, Chuck Taylor & Orange Cassidy defeated John Silver, Alex Reynolds & QT Marshall in a six-man tag match on Dynamite last week.

Page & Kenny Omega vs. Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara will headline this Wednesday’s Dynamite. The match will be part of the final build to Jericho’s AEW World Championship defense against Cody Rhodes at Full Gear.

A segment with Cody is also set for Wednesday, with him hyping that he’ll be making the announcement that he was going to make before being interrupted by Jericho and the Inner Circle two weeks ago: “This week’s @AEWonTNT #AEWDynamite I will be uninterrupted and have the chance to make my career announcement. I hope it resonates with the fans, because it matters a great deal to me.”

PAC vs. Hangman Page set up for AEW Full Gear

Another match looks to be set for AEW’s Full Gear pay-per-view.

After last night’s Dynamite went off the air, AEW set up PAC vs. Hangman Page for Full Gear. The PPV is taking place at the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, Maryland on Saturday, November 9.

PAC wrestled in the main event of last night’s Dynamite and went to a time limit draw with Jon Moxley. There was then a post-show segment where PAC tried to Pillmanize Moxley’s neck but was stopped by Kenny Omega.

Page confronted PAC and said that he needs a rematch. He said he wasn’t asking PAC — he was telling him. The promo closed with Page saying he’ll Buckshot Lariat PAC’s head off at Full Gear.

PAC defeated Page when they faced off on the Dynamite premiere. PAC low blowed Page, hit the Black Arrow, and submitted him with the Brutalizer. On last week’s Dynamite, Page teamed with Omega and defeated PAC & Moxley in a tag match. Page pinned PAC when Moxley walked out of the match after dissension with his partner.

Chris Jericho vs. Cody Rhodes for the AEW World Championship, Omega vs. Moxley, and The Young Bucks vs. Santana & Ortiz are official for Full Gear.

AEW Dynamite live results: Moxley vs. PAC, tag tournament semifinals

AEW rolls into Pittsburgh tonight, as the fourth episode of Dynamite emanates from the Petersen Events Center.

Last week’s show saw Jon Moxley and PAC teaming. That uneasy alliance ended with Moxley hitting his Paradigm Shift finisher on PAC and walking out on the match. As a result, the two will face off in singles competition tonight.

A promo segment featuring Cody has been advertised for tonight’s show. Cody is set to challenge AEW World Champion Chris Jericho at Full Gear on November 9.

Joey Janela will make his Dynamite debut, taking on Kenny Omega in a rematch of their acclaimed AEW Dark match from earlier this month.

The AEW Tag Team Title Tournament continues with two semifinal matches. The Lucha Bros will face Private Party, and SCU will take on Dark Order.

Also on the show, Britt Baker, wrestling in her hometown, will take on the United Kingdom’s Jamie Hayter.

In a matchup of two teams that have been eliminated from the tag tournament, The Young Bucks will take on Best Friends. Both teams have 2-2 records in AEW tag matches.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

The show started with the ring introductions for the first tag tournament semifinal.

AEW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT SEMIFINAL: THE LUCHA BROS. DEFEATED PRIVATE PARTY

This was an insanely hot opener. Big move after big move after big move. They worked a crazy pace and didn’t sell much. A very modern match.

Quen and Fenix began. After a series of drop-downs and leapfrogs, Quen hit a dropkick. Fenix came back with a German suplex, and the Lucha Bros. isolated Quen.

Quen came back with a pop-up double stomp, then tagged Kassidy. Kassidy hit an enziguri, followed by another double stomp from Quen. Quen hit a springboard tope to the floor on Fenix. Kassidy and Quen hit Silly String on Pentagon. Quen hit Pentagon with a 450 for a near fall.

Pentagon came back on Quen with a series of kicks. Fenix tagged in and hit a double stomp to a standing Quen. The Lucha Bros. hit a tandem pop-up dropkick/poison rana move. Fenix hit a springboard dive to the floor. Pentagon used a package driver on Quen for a two count.

Quen hit a headscissors on Pentagon, stood up out of a headscissors attempt by Fenix, then managed a tag to Kassidy. Kassidy hit a variety of flying headscissors on Fenix, then took out Pentagon with an Asai moonsault.

Kassidy hit a tornillo on Pentagon. Quen and Kassidy hit a tandem cutter on Fenix for a two count. Kassidy hit a blockbuster on Fenix. Quen hit a 450 on Fenix for a near fall.

Fenix hit a Gory Bomb/legdrop combo on both Quen and Kassidy. Pentagon hit a lungblower on Kassidy. Lucha Bros. went for their finish, but Quen fought it off. Kassidy hit a pop-up cutter on Fenix. Pentagon hit Kassidy with a destroyer.

Fenix ran across the top rope and hit Quen with a kick. Pentagon used an armbreaker on Quen. Fenix and Pentagon hit their double stomp/package driver finish on Quen. Fenix hit a tope con giro on Kassidy, allowing Pentagon to cover Quen for the pin.

**********

A hype video played for Wardlow. He lifted weights and flexed. Wardlow is coming.

**********

The broadcast team gave an update on Christopher Daniels. He’s expected back in 6-8 weeks after suffering a pinched nerve in the attack by the Lucha Bros. last week.

AEW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT SEMIFINAL: SCU DEFEATED DARK ORDER

Uno and Grayson dominated the early-going with very basic offense. Sky got a couple of hope spots in against Uno, who tagged Grayson. Sky made a comeback on Grayson with a double stomp, then tagged Kazarian.

Kazarian and Sky used quick tags, but Grayson came back quickly with a backflip kick on Kazarian. Uno rammed Sky into the ring steps. Dark Order continued working over Sky in the ring during a commercial break.

Grayson worked a chinlock as they returned from commercial. Sky came back with right hands on Uno, but Uno cut him off and used a rest hold.

The Inner Circle appeared in the crowd during the match, and everyone stopped paying attention to the match. Jericho and company walked through the crowd and sat in a suite.

Kazarian, meanwhile, was making one of the greatest comebacks no one has ever seen. It didn’t matter. He got cut off. Grayson hit him with an overhead belly-to-belly for a two count. Uno hit him with a powerbomb for another two count.

Sky blind-tagged himself in. Kazarian and Sky used tandem dragon sleepers. Grayson threw Kazarian off and broke both holds.

Grayson tried a top rope rana on Kazarian and sent him outside. He then hit a tope over the post to the floor on Kazarian. Uno hit a DDT on Sky for a near fall.

Kazarian recovered and jumped back in. Sky and Kazarian hit the SCU-Later on Grayson. Kazarian held Uno at bay, while Sky covered Grayson for the pin.

This was a chaotic segment. I see no reason why Jericho and company couldn’t have come out at the end of the match instead of in the middle of a great comeback. Dark Order just isn’t over. Their act has never really been explained, and the right call was made as to the winner here.

**********

They showed clips from the AEW Dark match between Kenny Omega and Joey Janela a couple of weeks ago.

KENNY OMEGA DEFEATED JOEY JANELA

They began with some catch-as-catch-can grappling. They traded holds. Omega hit a running boot and sent Janela outside, then hit a pescado. Janela came back with some right hands, then hit a crazy high cross off the post to the floor. He then threw Omega back inside for a two count.

The two traded chops, and we got a commercial break. This was the first break during the show that didn’t have the live feed picture-in-picture on the screen.

Bac kfrom break, Omega hit You Can’t Escape. He went for the follow-up moonsault, but Janela got his knees up. Janela suplexed Omega into the bottom buckle, then hit a top rope elbow for a near fall.

Janela teased a top rope rana, but Omega slipped out and dropped his face across the top rope. Omega hit a V-trigger for a two count.

Omega went for another V-trigger. Janela hit a German, but Omega rolled through. They traded high kicks. Omega hit a standing knee strike. Janela hit a fisherman buster, then used a big lariat for a two count.

Omega rolled to the apron. Janela tried a swanton bomb off the post, but Omega rolled away, and Janela crash landed on the apron.

Omega hit a V-trigger, then hit the One-Winged Angel for the pin.

This was good. The crowd was super into it and chanted “this is awesome.” That might be a stretch, but it was a good match.

**********

Cody came out for his big announcement. tony Schiavone conducted the interview. Cody said he grew up in front of the world so it’s only appropriate that he share his news with all of us tonight.

Jericho, Santana, Ortiz and Sammy Guevara started sounding air horns from their seats. Cody said AEW wasn’t like the other wrestling company that he and Jericho came from, there’s not an invisible wall around the ring, and he can come up there and fight Jericho.

Jericho said Cody is a stupid coward, and an entitled little millennial bitch, and if he fought him it would be 4-on-1.

Dustin Rhodes’ music played. MJF came out. Jericho made fun of MJF’s scarf, and asked what kind of idiot wears a scarf. Diamond Dallas Page entered. Cody, Dustin, MJF and Page entered the crowd and went up to Jericho’s box. Jericho and company locked themselves in the box. Cody broke the glass, and the brawl was on.

The two sides brawled through the luxury box, out onto the concourse. Cody and his team were getting the best of the brawl, until security and police intervened. Cody and company were escorted away, while Jericho waved his ticket in the air and said that’s what happens when you mess with The Inner Circle.

**********

THE YOUNG BUCKS DEFEATED BEST FRIENDS

Orange Cassidy came out with Best Friends. He threw an Orange Cassidy version of a superkick at both Bucks, and the Bucks responded by hitting him with double superkicks.

As the match began, the Bucks asserted themselves. Nick hit his facebuster/tope combination to both Best Friends. The Bucks mocked the Best Friends hug.

Trent and Taylor made a comeback on the outside, whipping both Bucks into the barricade. Taylor hit a doomsday knee to the floor. Matt came back with a springboard DDT over the top to the apron on Taylor. Trent came back on Matt with chops, then sent him over the top rope. Best Friends were in control going into a commercial break.

Back from break, Nick missed a 450 and tagged Matt. Matt hit a roundhouse kick on Trent. Trent no-sold and hit a German on Matt, then tagged Taylor.

Taylor hit a suplex on Matt, a then used a powerbomb for a two count. Taylor then hit a falcon arrow for a near fall. Taylor went up top. Matt tried to cut him off, but Trent jumped up and suplexed him off the top.

Best Friends hit a Soul Food/suplex combo. Best Friends hugged and took the ref, while Cassidy hit a dive off the post onto both Bucks. Best Friends hit Strong Zero, but Nick broke up the pinfall with a 450.

Trent hit a doomsday knee to Matt, but Matt landed on his feet. The Bucks ran wild with superkicks. Nick took out Cassidy and Trent with a crazy dive to the floor.

The Bucks then hit More Bang For Your Buck, and Matt pinned Taylor. This was another very good match. The level of the in-ring on this show every week is kind of crazy.

After the match, the Bucks accepted Santana and Ortiz’s challenge for Full Gear.

They played a hype video for Britt Baker, focusing on her connection with her hometown of Pittsburgh.

Britt said you have to keep working hard. She put over her connection growing up rooting for the local sports teams, and welcomed us to Brittsburgh.

BRITT BAKER DEFEATED JAMIE HAYTER

Baker came out with a Pittsburgh Steelers mascot and Pittsburgh-themed gear.

Hayter took the early advantage with strikes, then sent Baker outside. She whipped Baker into the barricade. Baker came back with a slingblade on the floor.

The match continued during a commercial break. Back in the ring, Baker hit a neckbreaker. Hayter hit some punches, choked Baker with the ropes, then used a camel clutch.

Hayter took Baker’s back and applied a rear naked choke. Baker broke the hold, hit strikes in the corner, then hit another slingblade for a two count.

They traded strikes. Hatyter hit a falcon arrow for a two count. Hayter tried a powerbomb, but Baker backdropped out. Baker hit a second rope superplex, which Hayter basically no-sold. Hayter then hit a chokeslam for a two count.

Baker hit a big right hand, a cutter, then used a swinging neckbreaker for a two count. Baker hit a superkick, then used the Lockjaw for the submission.

This was pretty much exactly what it shoud have been. A nitpick is that it seemed as though they were rushing to get all of their planned spots in.

**********

The broadcast team plugged next week’s show and the pay-per-view, then threw it to Jenn Decker, who was set to interview Hayter.

Decker got one question out. Hayter started to answer, when Brandi Rhodes attacked and left her laying.

Decker tried to get a word with Brandi. Brandi got in Decker’s face, but then walked off without saying anything.

PAC hit Jon Moxley with a chair as Moxley made his entrance. PAC then choked Moxley with his own jacket.

JON MOXLEY & PAC WENT TO A TIME LIMIT DRAW

PAC hit an enziguri at the opening bell. He went to the top for a Black Arrow, but Moxley rolled outside. PAC hit a space flying tiger drop, then threw Moxley back inside for a two count.

Moxley made a comeback. He hit a series of stomps in the corner. PAC regained the advantage with a one-legged dropkick to the head for a two count.

Moxley stepped to the apron to try to avoid PAC’s offense. PAC sent him off the apron into the barricade with a running shoulder block.

PAC used a chinlock, then hit a series of mid kicks. PAC used a standing shooting star press for a two count.

Moxley again went to the apron. PAC tried a German on the apron. Instead, Moxley hit an X-plex on the apron, and PAC crashed to the floor.

Back inside, they exchanged strikes. Moxley hit a clothesline. PAC came back with kicks. Moxley hit another clothesline, and PAC took a flip bump. Moxley then hit an X-plex for a two count.

Moxley teased a Regal knee, but PAC rolled outside. Moxley then hit a suicide dive. Back inside, Moxley hit a black hole slam for a two count. Moxley hit a Regal knee for another two count.

Moxley locked on a cloverleaf. PAC reached the ropes, forcing a break. Moxley went to the top rope. PAC crotched him, then hit a top rope falcon arrow for a two count.

Moxley used a cradle for a two count. PAC low-bridged Moxley to the floor. PAC then hit a 450 off the apron to the floor. PAC tossed Moxley back inside. He went for Black Arrow, but Moxley rolled out of the way.

Moxley crawled over and made a cover, but PAC kicked out at two. Moxley hit the Paradigm Shift, but PAC kicked out at two.

TV time expired, and the match was ruled a draw.

Moxley hit a Paradigm Shift on the referee, and the show ended.

The crowd didn’t react well to the draw, but educating the audience that it’s a viable finish is important and has to be done.

FINAL THOUGHT: This was another good night for AEW in front of another hot crowd.

PAC announced for RevPro British J-Cup, full list of participants set

The full lineup for this year’s British J-Cup is now set.

Revolution Pro Wrestling has announced that PAC will be taking part in the eight-man tournament. It’s being held at York Hall in London, England on Sunday, November 24.

Robbie Eagles, Amazing Red, El Phantasmo, Barbaro Cavernario, Michael Oku, Rocky Romero, Senza Volto, and PAC are the eight wrestlers in the tournament.

This is RevPro’s third annual British J-Cup. Phantasmo won the tournament last year, while Jushin Thunder Liger won it in 2017.

Tessa Blanchard will make her RevPro debut against Kanji at the British J-Cup show. Another non-tournament match is also set, with Ren Narita facing Brendan White.

PAC will face Jon Moxley on AEW Dynamite next Wednesday (October 23). PAC & Moxley teamed together against Hangman Page & Kenny Omega on this week’s episode. After PAC stopped Moxley from using a barbed wire weapon so they wouldn’t get disqualified, Moxley gave PAC a Paradigm Shift DDT and walked out of the match.

Jon Moxley vs. PAC set for next week’s AEW Dynamite

Three matches have been added to the card for next week’s Dynamite.

The biggest will have Jon Moxley face PAC following what went down in tonight’s tag team match. The two teamed to face Kenny Omega and Hangman Page.

Towards the end of the match, Moxley and Omega squared off very much like what happened last week, when the two stared each other down with barbed wire weapons. PAC took away Moxley’s weapon, not wanting to be disqualified. Moxley responded by flipping off PAC and leaving him to fend for himself, allowing Omega and Page to score the victory.

Also announced for next week is a homecoming for Britt Baker, as she will be in action in her hometown of Pittsburgh. The Young Bucks were also confirmed to be in action next week.

In addition to these three matches, the semifinals of the AEW Tag Team title tournament will take place. Private Party will face the Lucha Bros, while SoCal Uncensored will face The Dark Order.

Next week’s Dynamite will take place at the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Omega & Page facing Moxley & PAC on AEW Dynamite

Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley will be facing off in tag team action on next week’s episode of Dynamite

AEW announced today that Omega & Hangman Page will team against Moxley & PAC on Wednesday (October 16). This will be the first time Omega and Moxley have wrestled each other. They were supposed to have a match at All Out, but Moxley had to pull out of the show due to a case of MRSA returning in his elbow.

PAC instead took on Omega and defeated him at All Out.

On the Dynamite premiere, Moxley made an appearance and attacked Omega while Omega was teaming with The Young Bucks against Chris Jericho, Santana & Ortiz. Moxley took Omega out of the match by giving him a Paradigm Shift DDT through a glass coffee table.

With PAC on commentary, Moxley defeated Shawn Spears on this Wednesday’s Dynamite. Omega came out with a barbed wire broom and a barbed wire bat for the post-match angle. He gave the bat to Moxley and wanted to face off with him, but PAC then attacked Omega with a steel chair. Moxley refused to capitalize on PAC’s attack.

Omega vs. Moxley is set for AEW’s Full Gear pay-per-view on November 9.

PAC defeated Page on the Dynamite premiere. Page & Dustin Rhodes then lost to Jericho & Sammy Guevara this Wednesday.

Next week’s Dynamite is taking place at The Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Here’s the updated card for the show:

  • AEW World Champion Chris Jericho defending against Darby Allin in a Philadelphia street fight
  • AEW Women’s Champion Riho defending against Britt Baker
  • Kenny Omega & Hangman Page vs. Jon Moxley & PAC
  • The Lucha Bros (Pentagon Jr. & Fenix) vs. Jurassic Express (Luchasaurus & Jungle Boy) in an AEW Tag Team title tournament first-round match
  • Best Friends (Trent Barreta & Chuck Taylor) vs. SoCal Uncensored (Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian) in an AEW Tag Team title tournament first-round match

Hangman Page facing PAC on AEW Dynamite premiere

After their scheduled match at Double or Nothing fell through, AEW has rebooked Hangman Page vs. PAC

Page vs. PAC has been added to the card for the premiere of AEW Dynamite. The match announcement was made on the latest episode of AEW’s Road to TNT series.

Page was supposed to face PAC at Double or Nothing on May 25, but the match didn’t happen due to creative differences. They instead wrestled each other for Wrestle Gate Pro in Nottingham, England on May 18. PAC got himself disqualified by low blowing the referee and then attacked Page in a post-match angle.

At All Out, PAC made his AEW debut as an injury replacement for Jon Moxley. PAC defeated Kenny Omega at the pay-per-view.

Chris Jericho became the inaugural AEW World Champion by defeating Page in the main event of All Out. After the PPV, PAC interrupted Page’s media scrum and told Page they have unfinished business.

The AEW Dynamite premiere is taking place at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. next Wednesday (October 2). Here’s the updated lineup for the show:

  • Chris Jericho and two mystery partners vs. Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks
  • Nyla Rose vs. Riho to determine the inaugural AEW Women’s Champion
  • Hangman Page vs. PAC
  • MJF vs. Brandon Cutler

F4W NEWSLETTER: Figure Four Weekly: Sasha Banks returns to WWE Joseph Currier looks at the return of Sasha Banks and what it means for the women’s division. Plus, Bryan Rose’s Japan notes, and Vinny’s TV reviews.

The return of Banks gives Lynch the opponent she’s needed since WrestleMania. After winning the biggest women’s match in company history, Lynch was put in an impossible position by WWE. She had to maintain her momentum without having any credible opponents to face. Lacey Evans was a poor choice for her first challenger.

One of WWE’s most important goals should have been elevating Lynch and the women’s division further. It was always known that Rousey wouldn’t be with WWE forever. It’s great that Rousey was able to have main event-level matches with the company. It’s great that the Rousey/Lynch/Charlotte Flair rivalry was so deserving of its top spot going into WrestleMania.

But a year of progress doesn’t mean that much if you don’t continue to build upon it. Instead of Lynch facing someone who was near her level, her opponent was a wrestler who wasn’t even in a star in NXT.

FRIDAY NEWS UPDATE

So in short form, Jon Moxley has MRSA staph in his left elbow and his doctor believes he will have to be out of action for four weeks. Kenny Omega faces Pac in Chicago at All Out.  Originally, Omega vs. Pac was a planned direction months ago so they are going to end up doing it here.  Moxley vs. Omega will take place at some point, perhaps the next PPV although they also could put it on the first TV show.  Right now there is no confirmation whether Pac will be in for any other dates besides this one, but they’ve been in talks to bring him in for some time.  Moxley picked up the infection while in the G-1 tournament and was working for NEW this weekend with the problem.

Also, from those close to the situation, Dragon Gate has no issue with Pac working AEW. And Pac is expected to return there.

The long talked about Sinclair Broadcasting purchase of the Fox Regional Sports Networks was announced today by Sinclair. This should get ROH exposure in some new markets.

Regarding ticket sales, AEW did not sellout in Pittsburgh or Charleston, WV today.  I don’t have any figures on how the shows did   It appears from seating charts both shows did well.

There are still a few tickets left for my show a week from Saturday morning in Chicago. I will be doing the show with Jim Valley as the host/moderator.
