Israel Adesanya pays tribute to Oba Femi during UFC Fight Night event

During the main event of UFC Fight Night: Seattle, Israel Adesanya paid a surprising tribute to former WWE NXT Champion Oba Femi.

Ahead of his match against Joe Pyfer, fans saw Adesanya enter the octagon while performing Femi’s WWE entrance strut. However, despite channeling his inner Femi, Adesanya left the octagon a defeated man.

Pyfer defeated Adesanya in the second round, after getting him on his back and dropping him with rapid punches. Shortly after, the referee was forced to stop the fight and declare Pyfer as the winner.

Tonight’s match was Adesanya’s first fight since February 2025, when he lost to Nassourdine Imavov by TKO. The Kiwi has now lost four straight fights.

Adesanya’s tribute to Femi became a talking point tonight after his previous positive comments on the 27-year-old.

UFC’s Israel Adesanya impressed by Oba Femi: ‘He’s the guy’

Former UFC champion and wrestling fan Israel Adesanya is enamored by WWE star Oba Femi.

Ahead of his fight against Joe Pyfer in the main event of this weekend’s UFC event in Seattle, Shawn McDonald of Full Send MMA spoke with Adesanya, reminding him of his Undertaker tribute for his UFC 276 fight against Jared Cannonier.

Before that fight, Adesanya brough out an urn with the WWE legend’s music playing during his walkout as a tribute to Undertaker’s WWE Hall of Fame induction that year.

McDonald asked Adesanya about his top five WWE entrances to which he listed Rey Mysterio, The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin before getting nostalgic about Stacy Keibler and The Godfather.

That is when Femi came up with Adesanya saying he is a fan of his current work and feels he is the future of WWE.

“I really like the way he just moves. I like the way he’s carrying WWE right now. He’s the guy. He’s got that swagger. So, shoutout to Oba Femi. It’s not Oba, it’s Oba Femi. That’s the guy right now,” he said.

Femi made his main roster debut at the 2026 Royal Rumble and has dominated on Raw and SmackDown since then. He is gearing up for his first WrestleMania match where he will clash with Brock Lesnar after making a statement earlier this month.

Danhausen listed among WWE free agents on roster page

Danhausen is listed on the free agents section of the roster on WWE’s official site.

He joins Brock Lesnar, Oba Femi and Omos as those with free agency status with the company.

Danhausen made his WWE debut at Elimination Chamber 2026. In the weeks leading up to the Premium Live Event, Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis received a mystery crate with the advisory to open on February 28.

Since then, Danhausen has made backstage appearances on Raw and SmackDown, ‘cursing’ those who oppose him and refuse to align with him. He is yet to wrestle his first match in WWE.

On March 13, WWE filed for multiple Danhausen trademarks.  Danhausen made his wrestling debut in 2013. Six years later, he joined and competed for ROH until 2021. Following this, he signed with AEW. His last match was at AlW Alive out of Habit against Eric Taylor on January 23, 2026.

Meanwhile, two of WWE’s other free agents, Lesnar and Femi, will collide at WrestleMania 42, which was made official after the altercation on Raw this week. Omos has not competed on Raw or SmackDown since the 2024 Andre The Giant Battle Memorial. Most recently he competed in the Rey de Reyes 2026 Qualifying Four Way match against El Grande Americano,  El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. and NXT’s Ethan Page.

Stephanie McMahon discusses WWE Unreal docuseries

Stephanie McMahon discussed WWE’s Unreal docuseries while interviewing Oba Femi on her What’s Your Story Podcast.

During the interview, McMahon talked about growing up in the business and witnessing its evolution. She also discussed the Unreal docuseries, saying it does not give away the magic of the industry but instead shares it with audiences.

“I literally grew up in this business and thinking about all of the generations of people that I’ve known and learnt from, and how things have evolved, and how things have changed. And yet some things still stay exactly the same,” said McMahon.  And that’s the thing is I never, I think Unreal, I like Unreal. I don’t think it gives away the magic, I really don’t, because the magic is the magic. The magic is a feeling, and the magic is the feeling you create and that you share, that you share with the audience, that you share with everyone whose in the ring with you.”

“It’s like this kinetic energy, and you can’t give that away, because it’s not anything to give away, it’s something you experience. So, I tend to agree, I think times are evolving again and it’s an exciting time, it’s a really exciting time to be a part of the world.”

Femi agreed and expressed how the stars watch matches from backstage and are still blown away with ‘magic’ of wrestling.

“I agree, I’m with you. Even the boys, when they watch the matches  backstage. They’re backstage and they still go like “Wow! That was awesome”. They know how the magic is done and they’re still blown away.”

The Netflix docuseries first aired in July 2025, taking audiences backstage and giving a glimpse of behind-the-scenes preparations that go on before any WWE show – from creative discussions, rivalries, matches and production.

The second season focused on SummerSlam 2025 planning. It also gave insight into Seth Rollins’ faked knee injury to get revenge on CM Punk at SummerSlam. The third season of the docuseries is slated for release in the summer of 2026.

Meanwhile, Femi made his official main roster debut at the Royal Rumble this year. The following weeks, he showed up on Raw and SmackDown to prove his in-ring strength. On the March 16 edition of Raw, Femi powerbombed Brock Lesnar and pointed to the WrestleMania 42 sign, indicating that he was responding to the open challenge issued in February. This will be his first WrestleMania bout.

Additionally, McMahon will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this year.

Oba Femi details learning from Shawn Michaels in WWE NXT

Coming up in WWE NXT, Oba Femi was able to learn a lot from Shawn Michaels.

Femi reflected on his tenure in developmental while appearing on this week’s edition of Stephanie McMahon’s “What’s Your Story?” podcast. When he was in NXT, Femi would come up with elaborate finishes for his matches. It initially bothered him when Michaels would reject those ideas, but Femi learned an important lesson in the process. Everyone is part of the show and all of those elements have to fit together to form a complete picture.

“You can, but I don’t think that’s going to work. You will be very frustrated,” he responded when asked if it’s possible to be a perfectionist in wrestling. “And I think I learned that lesson quickly. So here in NXT when I was in developmental, I’ll come up with these matches and come up with these elaborate finishes and stuff like that. And Shawn would always change it. Shawn Michaels would always change it. And I’m just like — and it used to like eat at me at first. But I’m like, he knows where we’re going after this. I don’t know where we’re going after this. So you kind of have to just lend yourself as a tool to make the art come to life and be okay with where it goes.”

Femi was more than happy to have Michaels tell him what to do given all that Michaels has accomplished in wrestling.

“And at the end of the day, I’m like, okay, whatever I have in mind, I have to put that to the side. It’s what Shawn wants, to give him what he wants. And I will give him what he wants,” Femi said. “So I learned quickly, that’s part of being a student of the game. Like, sometimes I would ask him what he’s looking for and then go draft something. And then he still doesn’t like it — and that’s fine too. But at least that’s part of the learning process, seeing where his mind is at, what direction he’s trying to go on, and learning from him.

“Because I don’t know how to book wrestling. I’m not a booker, but it’s an important skill to learn. I feel like a lot of guys, they’re just like, ‘Make me champion.’ You know, ‘Do this for me, do that for me.’ But they don’t even understand the patterns and the way in which the booking works. The ‘why.’ So I just lent myself to Shawn and I let him take me where I needed to be.”

Matt Bloom, Ivar, and Terry Taylor are some of the other people Femi was able to learn from in NXT. He and Taylor would often disagree about things, but Taylor helped Femi understand the minutiae and nuance of pro wrestling.

Outside of the ring, Femi learned a lot about respect from his father and a lot about love from his mother. He learned to dream big through public figures like Elon Musk, Joe Rogan, and former Navy SEAL David Goggins.

Femi was called up to the WWE main roster near the start of 2026 and is now set for a WrestleMania 42 clash against Brock Lesnar.

Oba Femi on drawing WWE inspiration from Bray Wyatt

Oba Femi was a huge fan of The Wyatt Family and has even drawn inspiration from the late Bray Wyatt in his WWE career.

On a new episode of Stephanie McMahon’s “What’s Your Story?” podcast, Femi discussed what it was like trying to follow WWE as he was growing up as a fan in Nigeria. The product wasn’t available live, but he built up a collection of tape-delayed broadcasts from 2011-2017. One of the acts he took to was The Wyatts.

“I loved Bray. I really, I loved the original Wyatt family,” Femi said. “I just felt so passionately about [them]. The NXT version and when they first got to the main roster. I remember there was one line that they hit. I actually used that line in a promo a few years ago. He said, ‘You can send anybody after us, but like, don’t send anyone that you want back.’ And I was like, ‘This is the greatest bar ever.’ What a bar, what a mic drop. So I loved Bray, I loved watching Bray.”

Femi also really liked Triple H, viewing him as a complete wrestler who was good at everything.

“At this time, your husband,” Femi responded when McMahon asked who his favorite wrestler was. “I’ve watched his stuff, I’ve studied him. It was the way he worked. Just the intensity, the precision. I liked the way he worked in the ring. He was like more of a complete superstar. Like, he was good at everything. Nothing was lacking.

“And I like that. You know, you have your promo guys and your body guys and your workrate guys and all that stuff. But he was complete. The total package, and I respected that.”

Femi said he’s always liked heels and thinks villains might be more important to any story than the hero is. Without a strong villain, there is nothing for the hero to overcome.

In his WWE career, Femi’s goal is to make people feel the same way he did when he was a fan.

“I want to sound real. I want to be real. I want to make people feel things,” he said. “I want to give and then take it away. And I want them to go on that ride with me. That’s what I want to do in wrestling. I mean, championships and conquest is going to come. You know, The Ruler is The Ruler. But I think that’s my big takeaway. I think that’s like when I’m done, I want people to feel Oba Femi.”

It was confirmed on Raw this Monday that Femi will face off against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 42. This will be Femi’s first WrestleMania since being called up to the main roster from NXT.

Oba Femi on being a champion in WWE: ‘I think the odds are very high’

Enjoying one of the highest moments of his career right now, Oba Femi recently opened up on the chances of him winning a championship in WWE.

Speaking to SHAK Wrestling, Femi addressed him potentially winning a main roster championship while still in his 20s.

“I think the odds are very high. They’re stacked in my favor. Like, I said, I’m young, I’m spry, I’m ready to go. I’m hungry — hungrier than a lot of these 47-year-olds, I’ll tell you that,” Femi said. “So I think we’re going to see that happen very soon, because it’s not just me. It’s me, it’s Bron [Breakker], it’s Dominik [Mysterio]. There’s so much going on right now when it comes to the young talent.”

While he has not won a title on the main roster, Femi is a former NXT and NXT North American Champion.

He also claimed, “Well, it’s very good because at the end of the day, those older guys are doing their thing — they’re killing it — but at the same time, Father Time always wins. A lot of them are 44, 45, 46. They’re on their way out. They have one foot out the door.

So this is the time for someone like ‘The Ruler’ to come in, take their place, and fulfill that destiny. I’ve built trust with them. I’ve built equity in NXT with everything I did with the NXT Championship — all those classic matches I had. I feel like when they’ve seen the body of work, they’re like, ‘Okay, we have something here.’ So I think it’s good that they’re putting that trust in me because I think it’s well deserved.”

Femi, 27, recently answered 48-year-old Brock Lesnar’s WrestleMania 42 open challenge earlier this week on RAW and attacked him. Although a match between the two has not been finalized yet.

Indie wrestler confirms role in Brock Lesnar WWE Raw angle

Independent wrestler Vin Parker played a role in the opening segment of WWE Raw last night.

The March 16 edition of Raw kicked off with a chaotic angle where Seth Rollins had a confrontation with Paul Heyman. Brock Lesnar then made his presence felt. The masked men who have been accompanying Rollins surrounded Lesnar as he tried to invade the ring — and one of the masked men ended up being taken out with a slam onto the steel steps.

Responding to a clip of the incident on social media, Parker shared that he was the man under that mask.

“Not my wisest decision,” Parker tweeted.

Parker is an independent wrestler who has trained at the Rhodes Wrestling Academy, owned by Dustin Rhodes. He has made some appearances for Ring of Honor and is based out of California for his independent work.

The Raw segment led to the announcement that Oba Femi will be Brock Lesnar’s WrestleMania 42 opponent. Femi stood toe-to-toe with Lesnar, overpowered him with a Fall from Grace, and put his foot on top of Lesnar as the audience cheered. WWE’s clip of the moment currently has nearly 1.5 million views on YouTube.

Oba Femi accepts Brock Lesnar’s open challenge for WWE WrestleMania 42

Oba Femi has made it clear who he’s coming for next.

Femi powerbombed Lesnar in the opening segment of Raw, placing his foot on the fallen former UFC and WWE Champion and pointed at the WrestleMania 42 sign, accepting Lesnar’s open challenge from a few weeks ago.

The segment had started with Seth Rollins coming out with his masked men declaring that anyone associated with Paul Heyman would become a target of his. Heyman, who was previously announced as being out indefinitely, came out looking disheveled and eventually revealed Lesnar, who came out and destroyed the masked men surrounding Rollins. Lesnar and Rollins met face-to-face, but were then interrupted by Femi. Rollins exited the ring, distracting Lesnar long enough for Femi to lay out Lesnar with the pop-up powerbomb.

Later in the show, the match was made official for WrestleMania 42.

Several weeks ago on Raw, Heyman announced Lesnar’s dates with WWE heading into WrestleMania. He said there would be an open challenge for anyone to come out and challenge Lesnar for next month in Las Vegas.

Femi officially made his debut on the main roster back at the Royal Rumble, confronting Lesnar at one point in the match. On that night, Lesnar won their battle by eliminating Femi.

Oba Femi isn’t the only good option for a Brock Lesnar WrestleMania 42 opponent | Opinion

Last month, Brock Lesnar issued an open challenge for WWE WrestleMania 42 with rumors running rampant afterward that Oba Femi will be the man to step up.

On tonight’s WWE Raw, it’s possible that we will finally learn who will answer the challenge as Lesnar is scheduled to appear.

Femi exploded onto the main roster scene at the Royal Rumble, not only marking his debut at the event but also entering at number one. He eliminated five men before his run came to an end at the hands of Lesnar who eliminated him.

But what if Femi isn’t the pick if WWE doesn’t want to defeat either he or Lesnar right now?

Given that, here’s a few other names to consider, some longer shots than others.

Gunther

As of late, the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion has built his reputation and in-ring performance on being the “career killer.” After adding Goldberg, John Cena and AJ Styles to that list, it would be natural for him to target Lesnar next — another bold statement feat on his wrestling resume and one that would continue to solidify him as a ruthless heel in 2026.

They have never battled each other in singles competition despite it being teased nearly three years ago. Coincidentally, it was at the 2023 Royal Rumble where the two briefly collided in an intense exchange. Both Gunther and Lesnar have openly expressed interest in the blockbuster clash which has yet to come to fruition, but could at WrestleMania or perhaps SummerSlam if Lesnar does indeed retire in his native state of Minnesota.

Royce Keys

Keys was a dominant force in AEW for nearly six years as Powerhouse Hobbs before moving to WWE. He also made his WWE debut at the Royal Rumble this year. However, he has not made any appearances since then and has yet to make an impact. If Lesnar walks into WrestleMania 42 without knowing his opponent is, Keys could be an interesting one to answer the challenge.

Such a high-profile match could help sustain Keys’ momentum and establish him among the fanbase. Despite a potential loss in this once in a lifetime match against Lesnar, it could possibly be remembered as a career-defining moment and reveal his potential as a top star going forward.

Talla Tonga

The nearly seven foot giant has proven to be a formidable weapon for The MFTs on SmackDown. Towering over the other WWE stars, Tonga uses his size and agility with brutal strikes in the ring.

A potential match between he and Lesnar at WrestleMania 42 would be the ultimate battle of strength and supremacy. Both men possess overwhelming athleticism and power aligning with their physique which could set the stage for a first time ever encounter.

Tonga made his WWE debut at Night of Champions later year to assist Solo Sikoa in his United States Title match against Jacob Fatu. It not only established Tonga’s powerful presence but also an immense challenge for future heavyweights and anyone who dared oppose The MFTs.

Omos

While it would not be a full-fledged match, WWE could use the opportunity and capitalize on Omos’ return for WrestleMania.

Omos and Lesnar already share a history with their WrestleMania 39 showdown. The wrestling giant’s last televised match in WWE was in 2024 but since then, he has been somewhat active in dark matches in NXT and appearances in both Pro Wrestling NOAH and AAA.

His potential return at WrestleMania 42 to challenge a former rival could bode well in his re-establishment as a dominant force on the roster, even if it lasts for a few minutes.

Bron Breakker

Breakker’s meteoric rise to stardom on the main roster within a couple of years in addition to being dubbed ‘the next big thing’ would have made him the perfect rival for Lesnar. However, the uncertainty surrounding his hernia surgery recovery puts him at a disadvantage for being out of in-ring action for most of the first half of 2026.

In spite of reports on Lesnar’s WWE retirement some time this year, a bout between the two at some point is a must. It’s unlikely for WrestleMania, but would be a surprise if it happened.

Final Thoughts

Gunther would be an ideal fit to face Lesnar at WrestleMania 42. If he destroys Lesnar at WrestleMania, he could be further positioned as the prime heel in 2026, possibly joining the ranks of Roman Reigns as one of the defining villains of the decade.

As of this writing, Gunther has no feuds on his radar. And to avoid a failed boost that built momentum over the past few years, the opportunity should be seized by WWE to check off a blockbuster feud against Lesnar. Regardless of whoever would walk away with the win, the bout would leave a lasting impact and could leach to a rematch.

While Femi’s rising popularity is not to be forgotten, a push too soon for a WrestleMania clash combined with a premature loss on a stage of such grand magnitude could impact his ever-growing momentum.

Perhaps we’ll see what happens tonight.

WWE Raw live results: Intercontinental title defense, Oba Femi vs. Rusev

Date: March 9, 2026
Location: Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, WA

The Big Takeaway —

Raw concluded with another heated exchange, this time between CM Punk and The Usos.

Also, Judgment Day turned on Finn BĂĄlor and laid him out. Notably, JD McDonagh aligned himself with Dom and the rest of Judgment Day.

**********

Show Recap —

Penta (wearing no makeup under his mask), Asuka and Kairi Sane (with Iyo Sky looking on from the hallway), Oba Femi, Rusev, and CM Punk were shown arriving at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle.

There was a long recap video of Seth Rollins attacking Paul Heyman last week.

Adam Pearce was in the ring to start the show. Pearce said he had some unfortunate business to attend to, and he called out Seth Rollins. He figured Rollins was in the building because he knew The Vision was.

At least a dozen masked men appeared ringside (and the crowd chanted, “Holy shit” for some reason). They scampered around the ring to cause confusion and, as Michael Cole stated, played some sort of shell game. This was pointless. They all left the ring to leave one man standing—Seth Rollins, of course. Rollins works there, so I’m not sure why he went through all this trouble. Even Pearce questioned why he did this.

Pearce also questioned Rollins’ recent attacks on the Vision, wondering what would happen once Rollins’ plan didn’t work. Pearce reiterated that Rollins was not cleared, and if the Vision got their hands on him, it would be the end of Seth Rollins.

Logan Paul and Austin Theory, the remaining members of the Vision, interrupted. They wanted to be the ones responsible for Rollins’ end. They hit the apron, but the many masked men entered the ring to guard Rollins. Rollins put his mask back on as the others played their distraction game again, allowing Rollins to escape. (This looked so silly.)

With Rollins gone, LA Knight marched out to attack Theory and Paul. He was overwhelmed, so The Usos ran out to help him out and clear the ring. The three babyfaces posed together as the heels left.

(This was a nonsense segment. I understand Rollins being elusive to escape The Vision at full strength, but they’re down to their two least intimidating members.)

Cole announced there was no timetable for Heyman’s return.

Jackie Redmon caught up to the Usos, who seemed like they were about to leave the arena already. They said they had receipts for the Vision. Jey was red-hot, but Jimmy was more even-keeled. Redmond asked about CM Punk’s comments to Roman Reigns. Jey didn’t want to comment, and he was ready to go, but Jimmy did have something he wanted to say. They made their way back in the direction they came from.

Women’s Intercontinental Championship #1 Contender’s Gauntlet Match

Lyra Valkyria vs. IYO SKY

Valkyria dropped Sky off the top rope to take control ahead of a break. Sky hit a flapjack as they returned and continued with strikes, a butterfly backbreaker, and a corner meteora. Valkyria came back with an enziguri, a tornado DDT, and a high-angle fisherman’s suplex for two. Sky countered a Nightwing with a double foot stomp, buzzsaw kick to the head, and a moonsault for the pinfall win.

Match result: IYO SKY eliminated Lyra Valkyria (9:21)

IYO SKY vs. Raquel Rodriguez

Rodriguez had control from the onset and hit a shoulder tackle, which saw Sky take a great-looking bump. As in the previous match, Sky was worked over throughout the entirety of a commercial break. When they returned, Sky hit a hurricanrana off the top and followed with a missile dropkick.

Sky woke up the crowd by doing her pose. She hit the meteora and went for a moonsault, but Liv Morgan appeared at ringside to distract her, and Rodriguez knocked her off the top.

Stephanie Vaquer ran out to attack Morgan all the way to the back. Sky flew off the top and captured Rodriguez in a small package for the pinfall win.

— Rodriguez was pissed, so she booted Sky out of the ring, lawn-darted her into the ring post, and hit a Tejana Bomb onto the edge of the ring.

Match result: IYO SKY eliminated Raquel Rodriguez (6:18)

Ivy Nile vs. IYO SKY

Ivy Nile sprinted out and immediately covered Sky for the surprise elimination.

The crowd liked Sky, so the Rodriguez post-match beat-down and this elimination got a lot of heat.

Match result: Ivy Nile eliminated IYO SKY (0:05)

– Ivy Nile vs. Bayley

Bayley made the mistake of checking on Sky as she entered, so Nile attacked her from behind and held control throughout an early commercial break. Bayley fought back when they returned with suplexes and a diving elbow drop for two. Nile responded with a German suplex for two. With Nile seated on the middle turnbuckle, Bayley ran up from behind and hit her own German suplex for two.

Nile followed with an impressive delayed vertical suplex (which got a round of applause) for two. Nile then hit a superplex and a spinning Uranage, but Bayley fell out of the ring. Nile went after her, so Bayley drove her into the ring steps.

Bayley hit an elbow drop on the apron and followed with Bayley-to-belly for the pinfall elimination.

Match result: Bayley eliminated Ivy Nile (9:10)

Bayley vs. Asuka (w/ Kairi Sane)

This was the final match in the gauntlet.

As Asuka entered with Sane, Bayley immediately nailed her with a suicide dive. (There was a great slow-motion replay of this. Sane was posing for the camera as her friend got wiped out behind her.) Despite the dive, they had to follow their usual pattern. Sane distracted Bayley, and Asuka kicked her in the head to take control ahead of an early break.

Asuka had control through the break, but when they returned, Bayley hit a sunset flip powerbomb into the bottom turnbuckle for two. Asuka applied an ankle lock, but as Bayley got close to the rope, Asuka dropped into a cradle for two. Bayley applied an ankle lock/leg lock of her own, but Asuka got a rope break. Asuka hit an elevated knee, but Bayley fought back with a running knee strike for two. Asuka hit a series of strikes, which led to a two count. They traded counters until Bayley hit a Bayley-to-belly for a nearfall.

Asuka distracted the referee so that Sane could attack Bayley outside the ring, but Valkyria flew in and dropkicked Sane into the side of the ring. Bayley tried a diving elbow, but Asuka countered into an Asuka Lock. Bayley countered into a cover, but Asuka’s shoulders were up, so Bayley picked her up and hit Rose Plant for the pinfall win.

Bayley is now the number one contender for AJ Lee’s IC title. Bayley posed with Valkyria in the ring, while Asuka confronted Sane outside of it.

Match result: Bayley eliminated Asuka to win the gauntlet match (8:48)

********

There was a video package of Punk’s encounter with Reigns last week.

Nattie cut a promo on the stage on Maxxine Dupri during a break until she was attacked from behind by Dupri. Officials pulled Dupri away, so Nattie popped up and decked her.

Danhausen approached Original Grande Americano (Chad Gable) backstage. Danhausen was cheered. He tried to take Americano’s mask to try it on, but Americano told him never to touch a luchador’s mask. Americano wanted him to leave so he could focus on his upcoming IC title match. Danhausen didn’t appreciate being shooed away, so he cursed Gable (and the crowd sang along). Gable was unconcerned with being cursed.

********

Penta entered with his new IC title belt, and he cut a strong promo. He thanked his family, his friends, the company, and the fans. He thanked anyone who believed in him. He also thanked himself because he believed he could achieve the IC title. The title was not just for him; it was for everyone who did not give up. He represented all of them. He was their new IC champion, ready to make history. He fired up and cut the rest of his promo in Spanish, and the fans were into him.

El Grande Americano (Ludwig Kaiser) entered, but of course, he is not Penta’s opponent. Penta was hot over this, but he invited El Grande into the ring anyway.

Cole wasn’t sure what was going on because Penta was supposed to face Gable Americano, but Corey Graves said this could be because of Danhausen’s curse.

Intercontinental Championship: Penta (c) vs. El Grande Americano (Ludwig Kaiser)

This started during a break, and they went to another break minutes later. So the first 9 minutes or so included about 5 minutes of commercials.

I mentioned last week that Dominik Mysterio tied Penta’s mask to the bottom rope, a spot they always seem to do exclusively during commercial breaks. Well, sure enough, Americano did the spot during a break again.

Penta fought back after the break, hitting a flip dive and flying crossbody for two. Americano responded with a spinebuster for two. Penta hit a superkick, but Americano countered a Destroyer attempt into a Finlay roll for two.

Americano came off the middle rope, but Penta caught him with a Codebreaker and followed with a Canadian Destroyer for the decisive pinfall win.

Match result: Penta defeated El Grande Americano to retain the Intercontinental Championship (12:10)

********

Stephanie Vaquer cut a pre-taped promo on Liv Morgan (which included subtitles, as she went back and forth between English and Spanish). Vaquer said she knew how good Morgan was and how hard she had trained since being signed at 20. But she hated Morgan’s stupid laugh and that she was too ignorant to use her skills. Morgan hid behind a trashy man and sent her friends to do her dirty work. Morgan claimed Vaquer came from “mud huts,” but she was proud of where she came from.

Vaquer was forged from her experiences. They took different roads to get there, but both had the skill to be there. The difference was that Morgan became lazy. Morgan saw herself as a cheap blonde and always took the easy way to win championships. She would need to bring every trick to WrestleMania because Vaquer would bring blood, sweat, and her experience. Vaquer would continue to make history as world champion.

They cut to Morgan backstage, pissed at Vaquer for saying she hid behind her friends. She was with JD McDonagh and Rodriguez, and she told Rodriguez she would help her get back in the title picture. Dom stormed in and asked if they’d seen Finn BĂĄlor. They said no, but McDonagh went to look for him.

********

Danhausen entered during a break. He was universally cheered. (Doing this during a break was likely a test to see how the fans  would react.) Danhausen handed out t-shirts and did his catchphrase. (The t-shirts were probably also a backup plan in case he got booed. I think they’re in the clear now.)

********

JosĂ© Valenzuela was in the front row, as were Mike Morris and Ernest Jones of the Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks.

Dominik Mysterio and Finn BĂĄlor segment

Dom entered with Morgan and Rodriguez. He was upset about losing the IC title. He wanted a rematch and thought he should still be champion, but he wasn’t because of Finn BĂĄlor. Dom didn’t want to do this in public, but BĂĄlor was making him.

BĂĄlor entered with McDonagh. Dom asked where the hell he’s been. Dom hoped BĂĄlor was there to tell him that he got him an IC title rematch.

BĂĄlor said Dom was right. If it weren’t for him, Dom would still be IC champion. For that, BĂĄlor was sorry. BĂĄlor was just trying to help and teach him a lesson. Judgment Day was a family, and they’d always have Dom’s back.

BĂĄlor knew Dom wanted to be the greatest Mysterio of all-time, but he had to learn to fight his own battles. BĂĄlor has been trying to guide him for two years, but the more he did that, the more he realized Dom’s dad was right. “Maybe you are just a spoiled little prick.” (I think he said “prick” anyway. They censored it. Since when is “prick” a swear?)

Dom shoved Bålor, so Bålor dropped him with a Pelé Kick. Bålor was about to pummel Dom, but McDonagh pulled him off to calm him down. Dom tried to sneak attack, so Bålor hit him with a slingblade.

BĂĄlor set up for a running dropkick, but McDonagh levelled him with a clothesline. (This was meant to be a shocking moment with JD turning on his long-time friend, and the crowd reacted as such, but Cole sure didn’t.)

The entire Judgment Day (Dom, Morgan, Rodriguez and JD) put the boots to BĂĄlor before Dom grabbed the bell hammer. BĂĄlor tried to fight back, but Dom clocked him with the hammer.

McDonagh held BĂĄlor down against the rope allowing Dom to hit a 619, as the crowd told Dom that he sucked. Dom hit a frog splash. McDonagh placed a steel chair on BĂĄlor, and Dom hit another frog splash.

(This was a good, simple angle. Bålor is finally a babyface and finally out of Judgment Day.)

Backstage, Pearce put over Je’Von Evans’ performance in the Elimination Chamber and saw big things for him in 2026. Evans said he wouldn’t let him down. Pearce told him to enjoy the week, and Evans was pleasantly surprised to hear he had the whole week off.

Evans was approached by Kofi Kingston and Grayson Waller. Waller tried confronting him, but Kingston told Waller to leave.

Kingston told Evans that they got off on the wrong foot. Xavier Woods got injured, and Offset was out of line. Kinston got offended and took it out on Evans. But the truth was, Evans reminded him of himself.

Kingston became WWE Champion and thought Evans could do the same. Evans just needed the right team behind him. Evans was about to turn him down, but Kingston told him to think about it. Kingston offered a handshake. Evans didn’t shake his hand, but did say he’d think about it.

Redmond interviewed Bayley about her IC title match next week. Bayley thanked Valkyria for having her back earlier. She called AJ Lee a legend, and if it wasn’t for her, a lot of them wouldn’t be there now. The IC title was one she’s wanted to win since it was created. Bayley also offered Valkyria a shot if she won.

Oba Femi vs. Rusev

Femi was in control until Rusev kicked him off the apron, drove him into the ring post, and hit a spinning heel kick that sent Femi into the announce table. Rusev hit a Machka kick in the ring, but Femi exploded out of the corner with an uppercut. Femi followed with a biel and Fall from Grace for the pinfall win.

This was all this needed to be.

Match result: Oba Femi defeated Rusev (3:07)

Main event segment with CM Punk and The Usos

Punk entered to a big reaction. He signed autographs and shook hands with fans during a break. He gave a shout-out to the Seahawks.

Punk admitted he wasn’t sure how the fans would react to him. He thought some of them would be mad at him. Some people were upset about things he said last week. One thing in particular was categorized as disrespectful.

He knew Roman Reigns never respected him. But Punk would force him to respect the position he held. Championships were made to find out who the best were. The best go on to defend their championships. This title, in particular, was created because Reigns shunned his championship responsibilities and refused to defend his title.

Punk defended his title because he was proud of it, and the fans deserved a fighting champion. When Punk defended the title, he levelled up the competition. If you faced him, you had to level up physically and verbally. Otherwise, he would leave you dumbfounded and slack-jawed like Reigns was last week. Unfortunately, Punk lowered himself to Reigns’ level, and it’s been on his mind all week.

The Usos entered. Jey was red hot and told Punk to apologize right now. Punk asked why Reigns was still sending his cousins to do his heavy-lifting. Jey said they came out there on their own and told him again to apologize.

Jimmy said this had nothing to do with Reigns and everything to do with respect. Jimmy told “Phil” that he respected him because he spoke from his mind and ran right through his obstacles. Jimmy said Punk called himself the voice of the voiceless, and he could talk trash about Reigns all he wanted, but he disrespected their late uncle, who had no voice. Jimmy told Punk to apologize.

Punk said Jimmy was right. Sika didn’t have a voice. Punk wasn’t spiritual, but he knew the Usos were. He asked if they believed Sika could hear them now. Jimmy said yes. Punk hoped he could hear this.

Punk said he was friends with the Usos, and he went back a long way with their family. He respected Sika, but didn’t know him as well as he knew Afa. When he lived in Philadelphia, he would drive to Allentown, Pennsylvania, to wrestle. He wouldn’t say he wrestled for free. Afa was generous enough to give him gas money, food or a roof over his head if needed. But Punk was really paid in knowledge, sitting under the Wild Samoan’s learning tree. It was a thrill to sit in the back of a pick-up truck with Samu and have him drop knowledge.

Everyone in their family showed him respect—except for that one son of a bitch. If the Usos believed that Sika could hear and see this, then Sika could also see what a lying, conniving, backstabbing, manipulative, gaslighting, egotistical, narcissistic, plastic, politician his son Roman is.

Jey got in Punk’s face and reminded him that this wasn’t about Reigns. He told Punk to apologize. (Some fans chanted, “Say ‘you’re sorry.’”)

Punk shook each of their hands and said, “I’m sorry. I’m sorry Roman Reigns treated the two of you and the rest of his family in the Bloodline like garbage for years and never once came out here publicly to apologize for the way he treated his ‘family’ that he loves.”

Punk was sorry that Reigns disrespected one of his mentors, Dusty Rhodes, when he called him irrelevant and was somehow not on the hook for apologizing, but Punk somehow was. He was sorry that Reigns had tricked everyone into thinking that he gave a single damn about any of them or any of this. Because if Reigns did care about them or the people or him or the business, Punk would be talking to him right now instead of his young boys.

Punk shoved the mic into Jey’s chest, so Jey shoved him back. Punk was about to return the favour, but Jimmy dropped him with a right hand. Punk sat up and watched as Jimmy and Jey left the ring.

Oba Femi addresses possible Brock Lesnar WWE match

Oba Femi is confident that a match between him and Brock Lesnar will happen at some point soon.

Ever since it was announced that Lesnar would be holding an open challenge at WrestleMania 42, there have been fans calling for Femi to be his opponent. The former NXT Champion spoke to TV Insider about Lesnar and said it would be “really cool” to face off against him.

“What a run for him. He had two separate runs, and they’ve both been fantastic. It would be really cool to face him,” Femi said. “I know the fans have been asking for that match. It’s going to happen one day soon. What a run he has had the UFC champion, multiple time WWE champion, Royal Rumble winner, dominance. What a way to cap it off by facing ‘The Ruler.'”

Femi and Lesnar did have a face-off in the 2026 Royal Rumble, which Femi described as being a teaser to see how fans would react.

The identity of Lesnar’s WrestleMania opponent has not been announced yet. On the road to WrestleMania, Lesnar has been confirmed for five upcoming episodes of Raw. The most recent of those is in San Antonio on March 16.

A match between Femi and Rusev is going down on tonight’s Raw. In the interview with TV Insider, Femi was asked how he’s been adjusting since being called up from NXT to the main roster.

“There is a lot more traveling on the main roster. A way bigger audience and platform,” he said. “I’m glad that everything I was able to do over at NXT happened. I was able to translate to the main roster effortlessly, seamlessly. The crowd has been behind me. They know my schtick. They know what I do. ‘The Ruler’ is here to stay on the main roster.”

Number one contender’s gauntlet match part of next week’s WWE Raw lineup

The next contender for the Women’s Intercontinental title will be set on next week’s Raw.

New champion AJ Lee came out on Monday and issued an open challenge for anyone in the back to challenge her next, saying the next time she was in the ring, it would be to defend the title. Throughout the night Raquel Rodriguez, Bayley, Lyra Valkyria, and IYO SKY all made it clear they wanted the shot. Later in the night, it was confirmed that those four women, Asuka, and Ivy Nile would compete in a gauntlet match to determine Lee’s next challenger.

Lee won the title at Elimination Chamber this past Saturday, submitting Becky Lynch who didn’t appear on Monday’s show.

Meanwhile, Oba Femi will face Rusev in a battle of behemoths. After the two had a staredown last week, Rusev came to the ring this week and challenged Femi, who came out. The two had a brawl but it was Femi who emerged as the winner of their battle after he laid out Rusev with a chokeslam.

WWE Raw (March 9)
