Two title matches, Mason Rook in-ring debut set for next WWE NXT

Two title matches are set for next week’s NXT.

Next week will see Tatum Paxley defend the North American title against Lizzie Rain, while Vanity Project will defend the Tag Team titles against DarkState. Mason Rook will make his in-ring debut as he teams with Kam Hendrix to take on Tony D’Angelo & Myles Borne and Keanu Carver will also be in action, taking on Tate Wilder.

Paxley teamed with Rain on Tuesday, picking up the victory in a tag team match where they defeated Nikkita Lyons and Zaria. Later backstage, Paxley told Rain that she would defend the title against her next week.

All four members of DarkState interrupted Vanity Project on Tuesday but it soon turned into another tease of dissension when it was announced that Dion Lennox and Shaquon Shugars would be teaming together, as they have shown to not be on the same page in recent weeks.

Rook signed his contract on Tuesday, officially joining the NXT roster. D’Angelo interrupted and was cutting a promo when Hendrix jumped him from behind. Rook capitalized on the chaos by going to the top rope and unleashing a huge moonsault, wiping out everyone involved.

Wilder, who lost earlier in the night, asked for another opportunity from NXT General Manager Robert Stone. Carver walked into Stone’s office at that very moment, setting up the match.

WWE NXT (May 19)

  • Tony D’Angelo & Myles Borne vs. Mason Rook & Kam Hendrix
  • NXT Women’s North American Champion Tatum Paxley defends against Lizzie Rain
  • NXT Tag Team Champions Vanity Project defend against DarkState
  • Keanu Carver vs. Tate Wilder

New Tag Team Champions crowned on WWE NXT

Vanity Project are the new NXT Tag Team Champions.

Brad Baylor & Ricky Smokes won the titles in a surprise on Tuesday thanks to outside interference from Tony D’Angelo. The finish had Jackson Drake and other DarkState members being escorted out of the ringside area. D’Angelo suddenly entered ringside and took out Saquon Shugars with a chokeslam. He threw both Shugars and Brad Baylor into the ring, with Baylor covering Shugars for the shock win.

Baylor & Smokes won a number one contender’s match last week to earn the title match on this week’s show. They originally weren’t in the four-way match, but were added after defeating Hank & Tank two weeks ago.

D’Angelo recently spoke for the first time since making his return to NXT television, accusing DarkState of taking everything away from him. He promised in his promo that he would do the same to them, making it clear the group would be his main targets moving forward.

DarkState had held the titles since October 25, defeating The Hardy Boyz at Halloween Havoc.

New double champions crowned at WWE NXT vs. TNA Showdown

The Hardy Boyz are NXT Tag Team Champions.

Matt and Jeff captured became double champions in the opening match of NXT vs. TNA Showdown on Tuesday, defeating DarkState members Osiris Griffin and Dion Lennox to become NXT Tag Team Champions and retaining the TNA Tag Team titles. The finish had Matt hitting the twist of fate on both men as Jeff went to the top rope and connected with the swanton bomb, pinning Lennox to win the titles.

The other two members of DarkState, Saquon Shugars and Cutler James, attempted to interfere before the match started. However, they were sent ouf of the ring by the Hardyz and the referee threw them out. When announcing the match last week, NXT General Manager Ava said there would be no interference in the match and there must be a winner.

The Hardyz are now set to face The Dudley Boyz/Team 3D at Bound for Glory in a tables match. Bubba Ray and D-Von were both in the crowd on Tuesday, and the two legendary teams had a staredown after the match.

DarkState had been champions for 45 days, defeating Hank & Tank at NXT Heatwave on August 24. The Hardys have been TNA Tag Team Champions since July 20 after winning a four-way ladder match at Slammiversary.

Two title matches booked for next WWE NXT

The NXT North American Championship and NXT Tag Team Championship will be on the line on the Tuesday, April 29 WWE NXT episode.

After retaining his North American title at Stand & Deliver over Ethan Page, Ricky Saints will defend against Lexis King on next week’s episode. King challenged Saints to a title match in an in-ring promo segment on this week’s show.

Had King retained his Heritage Cup trophy on Tuesday’s show, that also would have been on the line next week, but King lost to the returning Noam Dar. Later in the show as Page confronted Saints backstage, King attacked the champ ahead of their title bout next week.

The NXT Tag Team titles will also be defended on the April 29 show.

After defeating Fraxiom for the Tag titles at Stand & Deliver, Hank Walker and Tank Ledger will make their first defense on next week’s episode against Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura.

Next week’s lineup is listed below. Our report from Tuesday’s WWE NXT episode is here.

WWE NXT, Tuesday, April 29 —

Tag Team titles change hands at NXT Stand & Deliver

New NXT Tag Team Champions have been crowned.

Hank Walker and Tank Ledger defeated Nathan Frazer and Axiom at Saturday’s WWE NXT Stand & Deliver PLE to become the new NXT Tag Team Champions.

Fraxiom’s seven-month second reign as NXT’s top tag team ended with Ledger pinning Frazer after a spear and powerslam double team maneuver for the title change.

Walker and Ledger had primarily been used as an underneath team in NXT prior to their winning a number one contender’s gauntlet match on Tuesday’s NXT TV episode to earn the title shot.

With the loss, speculation is likely to begin that Fraxiom’s Axiom and Frazer could be main roster-bound. Aside from a 19-day run from Chase U, Frazer and Axiom held the title for nearly a full calendar year after winning gold last April 9 on an episode of NXT TV.

The new champs spoke to Sarah Schreiber in a backstage interview later in the program:

Our ongoing live coverage for Saturday’s WWE NXT Stand & Deliver is here.

The announcement means that Frazer will be working twice at Deadline as he has already qualified for the men’s Iron Survivor Challenge bout set for the card. Axiom has a chance to work twice on the show as well, as he will take part in the final men’s Iron Survivor Challenge qualifying match on next week’s show.

Chase U win WWE NXT Tag Team titles

Andre Chase University once again hold WWE NXT Tag Team gold.

Andre Chase & Ridge Holland of Chase U defeated Nathan Frazer & Axiom on Tuesday’s WWE NXT to win the Tag Team titles in the episode’s main event.

After weeks of simmering tension between Frazer & Axiom, their team chemistry broke down in the main event, with multiple miscommunication spots during the bout further teasing that Frazer is about to turn on Axiom.

The title win is the second NXT Tag title reign for Chase, who also won Tag Team gold with Duke Hudson in 2023. It is the first title reign for Holland in his WWE career.

Frazer & Axiom’s title reign ends at 126 days.

The Tag title change was the second on Tuesday’s show, as Charlie Dempsey also defeated Tony D’Angelo to win the Heritage Cup.

North American Champion Oba Femi was the only champion to retain his title on Tuesday’s show, defeating Otis in the night’s other championship match.

Stand & Deliver Tag Team title rematch booked for WWE NXT

A Stand & Deliver rematch for the Tag Team Championship is one of two new segments set for Tuesday’s WWE NXT.

WWE revealed in a social media post from storyline NXT GM Ava that The Wolf Dogs (Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin) will once again defend their NXT Tag Team Championship on Tuesday’s episode against Nathan Frazer & Axiom.

NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov also made his debut on Monday’s Raw after WrestleMania, declaring for the WWE Draft in the process.

Ava also appeared on Raw and implied that NXT will also be drafting talent to their roster in this year’s WWE Draft set for April 26 on SmackDown and April 29 on Raw.

New number one contenders crowned for WWE NXT Tag Team titles

WWE NXT Tag Team Champions The Wolf Dogs have new top contenders for their titles.

Chase U’s Andre Chase & Duke Hudson defeated Nathan Frazer & Axiom on Tuesday’s NXT show to be crowned the new number one contenders to the NXT Tag Team Championship.

Immediately following the victory, Chase, Hudson, and fellow Chase U member Riley Osborne were attacked by Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson, setting up a potential three-way Tag Team title program. No date has been announced for the next Tag Team title defense.

Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin of The Wolf Dogs won the NXT Tag titles on last week’s live episode, defeating Tony D’Angelo & Stacks. Breakker & Corbin earned the title shot by virtue of winning the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

Breakker was announced as the newest member of the SmackDown roster on last Friday’s episode, casting doubt on how long the blue chipper will be part of the NXT roster.

Our full report from Tuesday’s WWE NXT episode is available here.

Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin win Tag Team titles on WWE NXT

New NXT Tag Team Champions were crowned on Tuesday.

Bron Breakker and Baron Corbin defeated Tony D’Angelo and Stacks in the main event of NXT to win the Tag Team titles for the first time. The finish had Corbin lay out Stacks with the End of Days, only to get taken out of the ring by D’Angleo. This allowed Breakker to hit Stacks with a spear to win the titles, ending D’Angelo & Stacks’ reign after 92 days.

Breakker & Corbin agreed to team together just prior to the start of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic in January. Though Breakker was reluctant to team with Corbin at first, he eventually agreed. The team went on to win the tournament final at Vengeance Day earlier this month, defeating Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams.

The title win comes as Breakker may be heading to either Raw or SmackDown. Following his appearance at the Royal Rumble, an ongoing storyline on the main roster has general managers Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis looking to sign Breakker to their brand.

Tag Team title match set for next week’s WWE NXT

A rematch for the NXT Tag Team titles will take place next week.

Chase U will defend the NXT Tag Team titles against the former champions, Tony D’Angleo and Stacks, on next week’s NXT. Chase U defeated D’Angelo and Stacks back on the first night of Halloween Havoc.

The news was confirmed during a Chase U segment in which associates of D’Angelo and Stacks handed Jacy Jayne an envelope meant for Andre Chase. Jayne appeared shocked by what was inside. Chase didn’t like that Jayne opened the envelope and didn’t tell Duke Hudson or Thea Hail about what had happened when they walked in.

Another segment that was announced for next week was the return of Alpha Academy. They will appear on Supernova Sessions with Noam Dar after Dar successfully defended the Heritage Cup trophy against Akira Tozawa.

OTM (Bronco Nima and Lucien Price) will also be in action next week, taking on the Brawling Brutes. Both teams cut promos on Tuesday’s show to set up the match.

Iron Survivor Challenge qualifying matches will also continue. It was announced that Lita, JBL, and Jerry Lawler will determine qualifying matches, with Lita set to announce the next qualifying matches.

WWE announced on Monday that Tony D’Angelo & Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo defending the Tag Team titles against The Dyad’s Jagger Reid & Rip Fowler will start this week’s NXT show.

The Dyad have been feuding with The Creed Brothers over the last several months of NXT programming, including winning a Loser Leaves NXT match against The Creeds on the July 4 NXT episode. The Creeds have yet to be reinstated, but D’Angelo & Stacks came to Creeds ally Ivy Nile on last week’s episode to set up the Tag title bout.

A total of four matches are set for Tuesday’s episode, including a Wes Lee vs. Dijak bout to decide the number one contender to Carmelo Hayes’ NXT Championship.

Two title matches added to WWE NXT Great American Bash

Two new title matches have been added to The Great American Bash.

Gallus will defend their tag team titles in Cedar Park, Texas on July 30 against Tony D’Angelo and Stacks after Stacks won Tony D’Angelo’s freedom on last week’s NXT. On this week’s show, the two revealed that they had been working together to trick Gallus into giving then a tag team title match.

The Women’s title will also be on the line, with Tiffany Stratton again defending the NXT Women’s Championship against Thea Hail. Hail demanded a rematch against Stratton on Tuesday’s show, with Stratton coming out to the ring and eventually accepting. She refused, however, when Hail asked for a submission match. Hail then put Stratton in a kimura until Stratton agreed to the stipulation.

Blair Davenport and Roxanne Perez will square off again at the Great American Bash. The two had a split screen interview on this week’s NXT. Davenport accused Perez of having no killer instinct and told her that she didn’t belong in NXT anymore. The interview ended with Perez getting up and walking away.

Here is the updated lineup for the Great American Bash:

  • NXT Championship: Carmelo Hayes defends against Ilja Dragunov
  • NXT North American Championship: Dominik Mysterio defends against Mustafa Ali
  • NXT Tag Team titles: Gallus defends against Tony D’Angelo and Stacks

The finals for the Women’s Championship tournament was determined on Tuesday’s show. Lyra Valkyria defeated Cora Jade to advance, while Tiffany Stratton defeated Roxanne Perez in the main event. Jade attacked Valkyria after their match, targeting her knee with a kendo stick. Despite this, Valkyria said in a promo later in the show that she will be ready for Battleground.

Gallus will be challenged by The Creed Brothers at Battleground. As Gallus were cutting a promo in the ring, The Creeds made their way to the ring and said they were directly calling out Gallus.
