Two title matches, Mason Rook in-ring debut set for next WWE NXT

Two title matches are set for next week’s NXT.

Next week will see Tatum Paxley defend the North American title against Lizzie Rain, while Vanity Project will defend the Tag Team titles against DarkState. Mason Rook will make his in-ring debut as he teams with Kam Hendrix to take on Tony D’Angelo & Myles Borne and Keanu Carver will also be in action, taking on Tate Wilder.

Paxley teamed with Rain on Tuesday, picking up the victory in a tag team match where they defeated Nikkita Lyons and Zaria. Later backstage, Paxley told Rain that she would defend the title against her next week.

All four members of DarkState interrupted Vanity Project on Tuesday but it soon turned into another tease of dissension when it was announced that Dion Lennox and Shaquon Shugars would be teaming together, as they have shown to not be on the same page in recent weeks.

Rook signed his contract on Tuesday, officially joining the NXT roster. D’Angelo interrupted and was cutting a promo when Hendrix jumped him from behind. Rook capitalized on the chaos by going to the top rope and unleashing a huge moonsault, wiping out everyone involved.

Wilder, who lost earlier in the night, asked for another opportunity from NXT General Manager Robert Stone. Carver walked into Stone’s office at that very moment, setting up the match.

WWE NXT Women’s North American title match set for next month

Thea Hail gets another shot at the NXT North American title next month.

During Tuesday’s show, Lola Vice was in Ava’s office talking about a future title opportunity against Izzi Dame when Thea Hail walked in wanting the same thing, pointing out she wanted her rematch. The two proceeded to argue until Ava cut them off, saying she knew where this was going and arranged for a triple threat match on February 3, the same episode of NXT that will see a new NXT Champion crowned in a six-way ladder match.

Back at New Year’s Evil, Hail was originally set to defend the title against former champion Blake Monroe. However, Monroe jumped her before the match and was thrown out of the building as a result. Despite the attack, Hail decided to put the title on the line anyway in an open challenge. It seemed like -Tatum Paxley, who defeated Izzi Dame earlier in the show, would answer the challenge. However, Dame appeared from behind and jumped Hail to get the match started, and ended up scoring the win over Hail to take the title.

WWE NXT (February 3)

  • Ladder match for NXT Championship: Shiloh Hill vs. Sean Legacy vs. Ricky Saints vs. TBA vs. TBA vs. TBA
  • Triple threat match for NXT Women’s North American title: Izzi Dame defends against Lola Vice and Thea Hail

Stephanie Vaquer wins Women’s North American title at WWE NXT Vengeance Day

Stephanie Vaquer is the new women’s North American Champion.

In the opening match of Saturday’s Vengeance Day, Vaquer defeated Fallon Henley to win the championship for the first time. Despite attempts by Jacy Jayne and Jazmyn Nyx to interfere Vaquer ended up taking out both women at ringside and scored the win after hitting a sky twister press on Henley.

Henley had held the title for 111 days, defeating the first champion Kelani Jordan back at Halloween Havoc on October 27.

After Stephanie Vaquer became number one contender to the title, Shotzi said she wanted a title match as well. General manager Ava decided to put the two in a match to determine, yet again, who the number one contender to the Women’s North American title was. Vaquer emerged victorious, solidifying herself yet again as the number one contender.

Two weeks ago, Vaquer was wrestling Jayne when Nyx broke up a pin attempt. Vaquer proceeded to lay out both women, ultimately scoring the pinfall on Jayne.

Fallon Henley wins Women’s North American title at WWE NXT Halloween Havoc

Fallon Henley is the new Women’s North American Champion.

Henley defeated Kelani Jordan in what turned out to be a gauntlet match where Jordan had to face all three members of Fatal Influence. Jordan first defeated Jazmyn Nyx, then defeated Jacy Jayne. However, both interfered near the finish of Jordan’s match against Henley, which allowed Henley to counter a 450 splash and connect with a shining wizard to win the Women’s North American title.

After the match, members of Fatal Influence stood in the ring as Henley said a statement had been made. However, the lights went out as Zaria’s music played. As all three women dared her to come out, it was revealed she was behind them. Zaria proceeded to lay out all three members of Fatal Influence, standing tall as the segment ended.

Fatal Influence had been targeting Jordan in recent weeks, jealous that a “rookie” like her was champion. On the go-home show for Halloween Havoc, Henley spun the Halloween Havoc wheel to determine Fatal Influence’s match against Jordan, landing on ‘spinner’s choice’. It was announced before the start of Halloween Havoc that the team had decided on a gauntlet match.

Jordan was the first Women’s North American Champion, having won a ladder match back at Battleground on June 9.
