Steel cage Tag Team title match to kick off this week’s WWE NXT

A steel cage match for the Tag Team titles will kick off Tuesday’s one-year anniversary episode of WWE NXT 2.0.

The results of a fan vote to determine the stipulation for the Pretty Deadly vs. The Creed Brothers NXT Tag Team Championship match were announced on Monday’s Raw, with the steel cage stipulation winning out over a tornado tag or a no-DQ tag bout. It was also announced that Pretty Deadly vs. The Creeds will open Tuesday’s episode.

A fan vote will also decide NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes’ opponent on Tuesday’s show, with Wes Lee, Von Wagner, and Joe Gacy the potential choices.

Here is the lineup for the anniversary show on Tuesday, Septmeber 13:

Two title matches announced for next WWE NXT

Two title matches are scheduled for next week’s NXT.

The show will mark the one year anniversary of the relaunch of NXT into NXT 2.0. Pretty Deadly vs. The Creed Brothers for the NXT Tag Team titles will take place, while Carmelo Hayes will defend the North American title against whoever wins a fan vote via WWE’s social media accounts. Voting will also take place to determine the stipulation for the Tag Team title match.

In addition, Cameron Grimes will team with a mystery partner to face Tony D’Angelo and Stacks, Hank Walker will face Javier Bernal, Zoey Stark & Nikkita Lyons will face Kiana James & Arianna Grace, and Quincy Elliot will make his debut. Additionally, fans will also be able to vote on the NXT Superstar of the past year.

Earlier on Tuesday’s show, Grimes met with D’Angelo, who was backstage drinking a cappuccino with Stacks. D’Angelo asked if he’d like to join his family. Grimes declined. It eventually ended up in a brawl, with Grimes being laid out due to the 2-on-1 advantage.

Hank Walker, who has been shown as a security guard backstage on NXT in recent weeks, was confronted by Javier Bernal as he was waiting for Gallus to exit their locker room. Bernal made fun of Hank for being a security guard. Walker got in Bernal’s face, eventually setting up a match for Tuesday.

Elsewhere, Kiana James backstage ran into Arianna Grace. They agreed they wanted to take out Nikkita Lyons, setting the stage for next week’s tag match.

Pretty Deadly unify Tag Team titles at NXT Worlds Collide

The NXT & NXT UK Tag Team Championships have been unified.

Elton Prince and Kit Wilson (Pretty Deadly) won both sets of titles on Sunday at NXT Worlds Collide. They defeated The Creed Brothers (Brutus & Julius Creed), Gallus (Mark Coffey & Wolfgang), and Brooks Jensen & Josh Briggs in a four-way elimination match.

The finish of the contest saw Damon Kemp turn on his Diamond Mine stablemate and hit Julius in the back with a chair. This allowed Prince to cover him for the win.

Briggs & Jensen was the first team eliminated after being pinned by Gallus. The Creed Brothers then eliminated Gallus, leaving just them and Pretty Deadly left in the match.

Earlier in the show, Diamond Mine’s Roderick Strong was discovered laid out in the parking lot. Our own Dave Meltzer reported recently that Strong is out with a legitimate injury.

Heading into the show, The Creed Brothers held the NXT tag titles while Briggs & Jensen held the NXT UK belts.

Pretty Deadly previously held the NXT Tag Team Championships from April 12 up until dropping them to the Creed Brothers at In Your House on June 4. Prince and Wilson also held the NXT UK Tag Team Championships from February 25, 2021, until dropping them to Moustache Mountain on December 9.
