Kota Ibushi provides update after AEW Collision injury
Kota Ibushi says he doesn’t know how long it will take, but he will try his best to return to AEW.
Ibushi was injured while wrestling Josh Alexander on Thursday in a match taped for AEW Collision. He broke his femur when he landed badly after him and Alexander spilled from the top rope to the ringside floor.
Ibushi posted to Instagram on Sunday, mentioning that Tony Khan sent him a bouquet of flowers.
A translation of Ibushi’s comments read:
“I’ve only been getting seriously injured. This time, it’s a femur fracture, and the broken bone even pierced through the muscle.”
“The surgery was a success!!!
(If I get another serious injury like this, I think I’ll live out the rest of my life as an ordinary person.)“
“I couldn’t believe it. Tony Khan himself sent me flowers and a letter. If someone does that for you, you can’t just quit, can you?!!! I cried. I don’t know if it’ll take one year or a year and a half to recover, but I’ll do what I can. Right now, only my toes can move. The pain is intense. I was shocked to even feel anything. Mr. Tony Khan… all I can do is try my best.”
Ibushi’s Instagram post includes an image of the card Khan sent to him. It includes the transcription, “WE ARE ALL THINKING OF YOU AND SENDING OUR BEST WISHES FOR A SMOOTH AND SPEEDY RECOVERY. – TONY KHAN.”
Khan also put out a statement following the airing of Ibushi vs. Alexander on AEW Collision last night, referring to Ibushi as one of the greatest professional wrestlers he’s ever seen.
Khan wrote:
“We are all very grateful for The Golden Star @ibushi_kota,” he wrote. “In my opinion, he’s one of the greatest wrestlers that I’ve ever seen. He is adored by the AEW locker room + fans worldwide. We wish him the best as he recovers from the leg injury he suffered on #AEWCollision tonight!”
Tony Khan comments on Kota Ibushi injury
Tony Khan has commented on Kota Ibushi’s injury.
On Saturday, AEW ended up airing the Kota Ibushi vs. Josh Alexander match that was taped on Wednesday at Daly’s Place that ended after Ibushi broke his femur, landing badly on his leg after losing his balance off the top rope. Ibushi will require surgery as a result of the accident.
The injury took place when Alexander had Ibushi on his shoulders as he went to the top rope, but Ibushi appeared to lose his balance and both ended up falling out of the ring. Ibushi was unable to move as Alexander re-entered the ring. Ibushi ended up losing the match via count-out.
After the match was called, Mark Davis made his return and attacked Ibushi briefly before he was stopped by Kenny Omega, who attacked both Alexander and Davis.
AEW Collision Homecoming live results: Women’s trios match

In spite of Starlink’s best efforts, we are here and live for AEW Collision!
Josh Alexander (w/Don Callis) vs Kota Ibushi
I won’t lie; due to some techical issues, I missed the first few minutes of this match. As it stands though, there’s no bad time to join and Alexander/Ibushi match and I was glad to get in to see Ibushi hammering Alexander with kicks on the outside.
Alexander caught one though and flipped it into a DDT on the concrete. Alexander dragged Ibushi back into the ring and began working the right leg. He dropped elbows on it, stretched it, worked a modified ankle lock and left Ibushi in a lot of pain.
Ibushi rolled out of the ring and while Alexander distracted the ref, Callis gave him some stiff shots. He bolted away and Alexander grabbed Ibushi and went for a pin, but it was a kickout at one. Alexander began throwing shots at Ibushi’s head, knocking him down every time he got up.
Alexander set Ibushi up in the corner but when he charged, Ibushi ducked and powerslammed him. Ibushi went up top, but Alexander pulled him back down. Ibushi got up and began kicking Alexander in the chest. He peppered him with stikes until Alexander got an elbow on that sore knee.
Ibushi got back up though and hit a standing moonsault for a two count. Ibushi went for a piledriver, but Alexander reversed it into an ankle lock. Ibushi used it to throw him into the corner, but Alexander grabbed him for a spinning slam from the shoulders.
Alexander sat on the top turnbuckle. When he tried to jump off, Ibushi was ready and caught him a a fisherman’s suplex, followed by the driving knees. Alexander kicked out at two. Ibushi tried a pumpkick, but Alexander hit him in the jaw then slammed him on the ring apron.
Tossing him back in, Alexander landed a big lariat, but only got a two count. Callis was not happy. Alexander put Ibushi up on the top turnbuckle and got into position for what looked like a death Valley Driver, but Alexander lost his balance and Ibushi ended up going backwards onto the barricade from above the top rope.
Officials checked on Ibushi who was clutching his leg. The Ref started a countdown while the drs attended to Ibushi. The ref hit the ten count, giving the win to Alexander.
Match Result: Josh Alexander defeated Kota Ibushi via countout.
After the match, Mark Davis of the Callis Family started beating on Ibushi which drew out Kenny Omega who took out Alexander and Davis with a garbage can. They slunk away while Ibushi was attended to. We know now that this was a real injury, so best wishes to Ibushi!
-Next, a Mark Briscoe promo aired setting up his Wrestledream match against Kyle Fletcher. This shouldn’t be shocking. but they both think they are going to win.
Tag Team Match: Max Caster & Anthony Bowens vs. Big Bill & Bryan Keith
Keith and Bill came down to little fanfare, but Bowens and Caster jockeyed for the crowds attention, flashing 8x10s and such.
Caster hit a blind tag on Bowens to be able to start off the match aagainst Keith. The two ran through a chain of flips and hits until Bowens hit a blind tag on Caster and inserted himself into the match.
Bowens and Keith locked up with Bowens sending him to the mat with a shoulder tackle. Bowens leapfrogged over Keith a couple of times and nailed him with a facebuster. That brought in Bill and Bowens tagged himself out. Caster then did the same thing, neither man wanting to face their XL opponent. Finally, Bill just started hitting Caster so he became legal.
Bill slapped and chopped Caster around the ring, throwing him off the ropes and choking him. Bowens jumped in and hit him with a fame-ass-er and Bill rolled out, leaving Caster and Bowens to to stare deeply into each other’s eyes, wondering if they should team together again.
Then Bill pulled Bowens out of the ring and he and Keith jumped Caster. They hit a double team eye-rake-choke thing and tossed Caster out of the ring. Keith began beating him up on the outside, while Bill drove Bowens into the barricades. In spite of us just having a match that ended in a countout, countouts didn’t seem to apply here.
Bill held Bowens in the corner so Keith could superkick him. Bowens fought back with a kick to Keith’s gut. Keith put a headlock on and worked Bowens’ neck in the middle of the ring. Bowens powered out of it though landing a back elbow. He went for a tag, but Keith cut him off.
Keith sent Bowens into the corner, which tagged in Caster who chased Keith out of the ring chopping him. Keith ducked a backhand and Big BIll hit Caster so that Keith could put him back in the ring. Keith went off the ropes, but Caster caught him with a Death Valley Driver for a two count.
Caster went up top, but Bowens hit a blind tag and told him to leave. Keith pushed Bowens into Caster, but only got at two count on the rollup afterwards. Bowens and Caster blamed each other and started shoving. IN the confusion, Keith got hit with a hard right hand and Bowens was able to fall on him for the pin.
Match Result: Anthony Bowens and Max Caster defeated Big Bill and Bryan Keith
-The Bang Bang Gang cut a promo in the back about how they are feeling great. Big Bill and Bryan wandered by, smashing stuff in frustration. The Gang asked if they wanted to “get active” (aka fight) and Bill and Keith looked like they were ready, but walked away instead.
TayJay (Tay Melo and Anna Jay) vs Carolina Cruz and Dream Girl Ellie
TayJay are heading towards however the determine the first ever AEW Women’s Tag Team Champions undefeated at 1-0. They immediately started a match with a double knee to Cruz. Jay stayed legal, but Cruze tagged out and Ellie found herself isolated in the Tayjay corner.
They tagged in and out before giving that up and double teaming her, with a bulldog resulting in a two count. TayJay then delivered stero thrust kicks and stomps. Jay hit a pumpkick and then Melo one of her own on Ellie.
They used a raised knee slam and punned Ellie to move to an unprecedented 2-0.
Match Result: TayJay defeated Carolina Cruz and Dream Girl Ellie
-Backstage, Lexy Nair interviewed the Conglomeration. Kyle Fletcher was mentioned and Kyle O’Reilly mentioned that he hated there was another Kyle. Roddy Strong addressed MOXLEY and challenged him anytime, anywhere. Just let him know. Nightingale said that she was going to back up JetSpeed in their match tonight.
-It was then announced that The Demand would take on the Hurt Business in a trios match on Dynamite.
-Back from break, footage was shown of Darby Allin attacking Jon Moxley at New York City Comicon. Having attended that Con many times, I can say that it was probably over parking. Anyway, the Death Riders cut a promo about how Allin needs to die. Extreme, but they are called the Death Riders. PAC called Allin a piece of crap, earning his Bastard nickname. Moxley wrapped things up saying next time he sees Allin, he will get his face smashed in. These guys must be a blast at parties.
Trios Match: AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander, “Timeless” Toni Storm & Harley Cameron vs. Triangle of Madness (Thekla, Julia Hart and Skye Blue)
Cameron came out dressed like a giant heart, proving once again that she is precious cargo and should be protected at all costs. Storm and Statlander will meet at Wrestledream for Statlander’s AEW Women’s Championship, but I’m sure that wont play a factor in this match.
The Triangle had me asking “why so serious?” but the crowd was definitly into it. Storm convinced her partners to let her start things off and exploded off the bell with a pump kick to Thekla. She threw her around the ring until Thekla grabed the traps and forced her to the mat. She peppered Storm with kicks, but Storm fought back with a Thez press.
She follwed that up with a backbreaker and tagged in Cameron. Thekla sent Cameron to the corner and Blue tagged in, hoisting Cameron on her shoulders. Cameron got out of it and hit a dropkick before whipping Blue into the corner for a splash. Statlander tagged in and used Cameron as a weapon, slamming her onto Blue.
Statlander got Blue up in a staaaaaaaaaaaaallling suplex and slammed her to the mat. She whipped Blue into the corner who got out of it and tagged in Hart. Statlander powerslammed her and tagged in Storm who slammed Hart and tagged in Cameron. Cameron hit a high kick and tried a cover, but Hart kicked out at two.
Cameron started jabbing elbows into Hart’s neck, but Blue took her out giving Hart a pin attempt. Cameron kicked out and Hart startedpunching her. She put a headlock on and wracked the neck of Cameron before sending her into the corner. Hart chopped her and held her in a choke until the ref broke it up.
Hart went up top and walked the ropes, going Old School on Cameron before tagging in Blue. Blue threw a few strikes then tagged in Thekla. Thekla knocked Storm and Statlander off the apron and threw Cameron into the Triangle’s corner where they triple teamed her.
Coming out of that, Blue was legal for the Triangle and Cameron punched her in the gut. Blue hung her up on the ropes in response and drover her knee into Cameron’s neck. She suplexed Cameron next and threw elbows when she tried to get up.
Blue took a shot at Storm and then hoisted Cameron on her shoulders. Cameron got out of it though and tagged in Storm who took out Blue with an agressive flurry ending in a dropkick. She hit a blue thunder bomb, but Blue kicked out at two.
Blue landed a crescent kick and Hart tagged in to double team Storm. Storm turned it into a double DDT though and tagged in Statlander. Statlander cleaned house, throwing kicks at all three. She hit a neckbreaker on Hart, then slammed Blue onto her.
Cameron tagged in and Statlander lifted Hart so Cameron could hit a super bulldog. Thekla entered the match and Cameroon hit a backstabber. Blue took her out, but Storm kicked her our of the ring. Statlander went to kick Hart, but she ducked and almost caught Storm. They two stared each other down.
Cameron found herself alone with Thekla and caught a Spear From The Spider for Thekla to pin her for the win.
Match Result: The Triangle of Madness defeated Tony Storm, Harley Cameron and Kris Statlander
-Backstage, Kenny Omega sent a message to Don Callis and his family. He was lamenting the never ending nature of their rivalry when he was interrupted by none other than Jack Perry. Perry said that he just wanted to say he’s got Omega’s back. Omega was more than suspicious and Perry said that he can’t change the past, but he and Omega have some of the same enemies. Omega said that he doesn’t give a F&%K about Perry or his big dumb dinosaur. If Perry wants to prove he can be trusted he should see Omega at Dynamite. Then he threw him out.
-Backstage, Harley Cameron and Kris Statlander were interviewed about their loss. Cameron asked Statlander to be her tag partner, but Statlander said that she has to focus on the Women’s World Title now. She was about to suggest another partner for Cameron when Wheeler Yuta interrupted them to make fun of the. Then Toni Storm arrived and they all started yelling at each other. I don’t think Yuta was supposed to be in that segment…
-Next, MxMxTV (Mason Madden, Mansoor, Johnny TV and Tay Valkyrie) came down to the ring to have a “casting call” open challenge and give the announce team a chance to make a bunch of gross SEED jokes.
Mansoor grabbed a mic and ran down the crowd. He said that the Casting Call would continue tonight, if anyone is interested. There were some interested parties. A Trio in fact. A trio called La Faccion Ingobernable!
MxMxTV (Mason Madden, Mansoor and Johnny TV) vs LFI (Rush, Sammy Guevara and Dralistico) w/The Beast Mortos
Wait, if they are doing this match now, what’s going to headline Ring of Honor next week?
Anyway, Dralistico and Johnny TV started things off with a flurry of kicks and spin moves before Mansoor tagged in. He caught a foot in the gut and Guevara tagged in, taking him out. Madden ran across and knocked Rush and Dralistico off the apron, then delivered a big powerbomb to Guevara.
Rush was actually legal and he and Dralistico double dropkicked Madden. Dralistico tagged in and hit a hurricanrana on Johnny TV that sent both men to the outside. They Valkyrie took out Dralistico and Rush and Madden traded chops. Mansoor tried to get involved, but Rush thew him into the corner and Dralistico hit a double knee.
Rush delivered The Horns to Mansoor in the corner and Guevara tagged in. He went up top and hit a swanton bomb. He got the pin on Mansoor and the win for LFI.
Match Result: LFI defeated MxMxTV
That’s a lot of letters.
Suddenly, the music changed and Eddie Kingston, the one and only, headed to the ring for his match against Mortos.
Eddie Kingston vs. The Beast Mortos
Mortos took off the sunglasses he’d been hilariously wearing at ringside and Kingston went right for him. The two traded shots with Kingston getting Mortos off his feet with a flying shoulder block. Eddie want for a move, but Mortos rolled out of the ring. The rest of LFI decided they’d seen enough and left.
Kingston put a headlock on Mortos who fought out of it and sent Kingston to the corner. He followed him with a splash and european uppercuts. Kingston rolled away and Mortos stomped his head before putting on headlock of his own.
Mortos started throwing strikes, knocking Kingston around the ring. Kingston responded with some chops and the two started trading. Eventually Mortos just started ducking and then kicked Kingston’s knees out from underneath him. He choked him on the ropes and then threw Kingston into the corner, kicking him right in the Eddies.
The ref didn’t see it (I guess?) and allowed the match to continue with more strikes from Mortos. He hit a big running lariat, but Kingston kicked out at two. Mortos sent Kingston to the corner, but Kingston rolled away from the charge and Mortos exited the ring. Kingston dove between the ropes and sent Mortos into the barricades.
Back in the ring, Kingston hit a reverse neckbreaker, but Mortos kicked out at two. Mortos then bit the hand of Kingston but stopped when the ref hit a five count. He sent Kingston into the ropes, but didn’t get all of the spear and Kingston kicked out at two.
Mortos went up top for a twisting moonsauly but missed Kingston who thew him in a gutwrench. Kingston hit a backfist and Mortos collapsed. Kingston pinned him and got the win to move to 4-0 since returning to AEW.
Match Result: Eddie Kingston defeated The Beast Mortos
Mixed Trios Match: Megan Bayne & FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) vs. Willow Nightingale & JetSpeed (“Speedball” Mike Bailey and The Jet” Kevin Knight)
Back from break, it was main event time!
Bayne brought Penelope Ford to the ring with her and FTR brought Stokely. JetSpeed brought themselves and Willow Nightingale, who danced her way into everyone’s hearts as usual.
Nightingale and Bayne started things off with a tie up. Nightingale sent Bayne into the corner, but neither let go. The wrestled each other back to the center of the ring, where Bayne pumnched Nightingale. Nightingale hit a shoulder block, but Bayne didn’t move. Bayne tried one of her own, but Nightingale didn’t move. Bayne called for one more, then clotheslined her.
NIghtingale hit a scoopslam and then sent Bayne to the corner for some strikes and a lariat. She followed that up with a crossbody, but Bayne kicked out at one. She tagged in Harwood and Nightingale tagged in Knight.
Knight hit a shoulder tackle and leapfrogged Harwood off of the ropes. Harwood got a shot in though, but Knight responded with a springboard lariat and dropkicks until Bayne got into the ring and shoved him. Harwood used that distraction to hit Knight from behind and Bayne sent him to the corner.
Kinght powered back with a shotgun dropkick, sending Knight to the corner. Bailey hit a kick and Nightingale hit a cannonball in the corner, but Knight could only get a two count. He tagged in NIghtingale who went to axhandle Harwood, but Bayne pushed him out of the way and sent Nightingale to the outside.
She thew strikes and tossed Nightingale around before sending her back into the ring. Harwood held her so that Bayne could hit some strikes. She sent Nightingale into the corner and threw some shoulders and chops. She hit a big splash and went for a cover, but only a two count.
For got involved at ringside and choked Nightingale on the ropes while Bayne distracted the ref. Bayne then put a headlock on. Nightingale powered out of it and started throwing strikes into Bayne’s gut. Bayne tried for a powerbomb, but Nightingale flipped her over. Wheeler then tried to jump her, but Nightingale tagged in Baliey.
Harwood quickly tagged in and Bailey hit a moonsault from one side of the ring to the other. He went for a second, but Harwood dodged it. Knight camp off the top with a shot, but Bailey could only get a two count.
Wheeler pulled Knight off the apron and sent him into the barricade. Bayne dove through the ropes onto him while Harwood hit a brainbuster on Bailey. Wheeler tagged in Bailey hit a spinning DDT off the second rope. Nightingale called for the hot tag, but Bailey was cut off by Wheeler. Bayne tagged in and tried to suplex Bailey. She stalled too long and he reversed it.
Bayne sent Bailey to the corner and he got a hot tag to Nightingale. Harwood tagged in, but Nightingale beat him up. Wheeler tried to make the save, but also got taken out. Knight hit a dropkick and then Nightingale hit a powerbomb on Harwood.
She tried to get him up in a suplex, but he pushed her into the ropes and tried a rollup off the bounce back. Bayne got tagged in and Nightingale went for a gutwrench, but Ford tried to cause a distraction. Nightingale pulled her in a flattened her.
Bayne tried to kick her from behind, but Nightingale locked in a crab hold. Bailey and Knight grabbed FTR and did the same. Hardwood grabbed the ropes and rolled out and Jetspeed dove after them.
Ford and Bayne hit a Doomsday device behind the ref’s back on Nightingale and Bayne pinned her one, two, three.
Match Result: FTR and Megan Bayne defeated Jetspeed and Willow Nightingale.
After the match Bayne and Nightingale attacked Nightingale and Harley Cameron came down and made the save with a guitar neck, running off the heels. Jestspeed and FTR jawed at each other as the show came to an end.

Update on Kota Ibushi injury suffered at AEW Collision taping
Image: JJ Williams
Kota Ibushi may have suffered a broken femur in his match with Josh Alexander during Wednesday’s AEW Collision taping that will require surgery.
Our Bryan Alvarez confirmed the news Thursday which was first reported by PWInsider after incident on Wednesday night.
As described by our JJ Williams who is in attendance, Ibushi fell off the top rope to the outside of the ring as his leg appeared to give out. He didn’t make it back into the ring in time and Alexander won the match by countout.
Kenny Omega then made his return to fight off the Don Callis Family and tended to Ibushi afterward. The house lights were lowered as medical personnel assisted Ibushi, eventually carrying him out on a stretcher to an ambulance. AEW head Tony Khan later came out and thanked the fans for being “good fans” and re-iterated how dangerous wrestling is.
He had not been announced for next weekend’s WrestleDream pay-per-view, nor was Omega. It’s unclear if the Alexander match will still air and how that affected plans for the PPV.
The 43-year-old Ibushi last competed at August’s Forbidden Door as part of the Will Ospreay-led team in the unsanctioned steel cage match. After a lengthy absence from AEW, he returned in June to re-align with Omega against the Callis crew with five matches total since his return.

New matches are set for next Saturday’s AEW Collision Homecoming.
The show, which will take place at Daly’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida, already has six matches announced. One will see Kota Ibushi make his return, taking on Josh Alexander of the Don Callis Family.

Meanwhile, Max Caster and Anthony Bowens will team with one another once again, taking on Big Bill and Bryan Keith after words were traded. Despite teaming up together again, both noted in the segment that they have still not reunited as The Acclaimed.
After the Triangle of Madness attacked Toni Storm and Kris Statlander during their promo to hype their upcoming Wrestledream match, Harley Cameron came down for the save, setting up a six-person tag team match for Jacksonville. After Megan Bayne laid out Willow Nightingale, Bayne will team up with FTR to take on Nightingale and Jetspeed.

Kota Ibushi AEW contract update
Ahead of competing at Forbidden Door, Kota Ibushi has signed a contract extension with AEW.
It was revealed last night that Ibushi will be teaming with Kenny Omega, Will Ospreay, Darby Allin & Hiroshi Tanahashi in a lights out cage match at the August 24 pay-per-view in London. They’ll be facing off against Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, The Young Bucks & Gabe Kidd.
That wasn’t the only news for Ibushi, though, with him announcing in an Instagram post that he’s signed a two-year contract extension with AEW. The Instagram post included video of Ibushi riding in a private jet.
“This was amazing! A turning point in my life. I never thought I’d get to ride in a private jet! And I signed a two-year contract renewal,” Ibushi wrote.
Ibushi debuted for AEW in July 2023, signing a contract that allows him to still compete for other promotions in Japan. Ibushi’s career since then has been severely impacted by injuries, but he’s active now and back competing in AEW. He’s had three matches for the promotion over the past couple of months.
The 43-year-old Ibushi is a former top star for NJPW and DDT Pro Wrestling in Japan.

Okada vs. Ibushi part of AEW Dynamite 300 lineup
An old NJPW rivalry will be renewed at AEW Dynamite’s 300th episode next week.
Career rivals Kazuchika Okada and Kota Ibushi going one-on-one has been announced as part of the Wednesday, July 2 AEW Dynamite 300 lineup.
Ibushi made his in-ring return in AEW on this week’s Dynamite, defeating Trent Beretta of The Don Callis Family. Okada has aligned himself with Callis ahead of his battle with Ibushi’s Golden Lovers partner Kenny Omega scheduled for All In on July 12. Okada confronted Ibushi in the ring after his victory, and the match was set for next week.
The last time Okada and Ibushi wrestled was in the G1 finals in 2021, a match stopped early after Ibushi suffered a catastrophic shoulder injury. Okada was awarded the win via referee stoppage. Ibushi had defeated Okada in their two prior G1 meetings in 2019 and 2020, and Okada defeated Ibushi in the Wrestle Kingdom 14 night one main event in 2020.
A TBS title match is also set for next week, with Mercedes Mone defending against Mina Shirakawa. Mone will challenge Shirakawa’s ally Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s World title at All In on July 12.
Mark Briscoe claimed the first spot in the All In Casino Gauntlet match with a victory on this week’s Dynamite, and MJF will wrestle in a Casino Gauntlet qualifier on next week’s Dynamite 300.
The announced lineup:
AEW Dynamite 300, Wednesday, July 2 —
- Kazuchika Okada vs. Kota Ibushi
- TBS Champion Mercedes Mone defends against Mina Shirakawa
- All In Casino Gauntlet qualifying match: MJF vs. TBA
AEW Dynamite live results: Kota Ibushi returns to action
The road to All In Texas continues on tonight’s AEW Dynamite in Kent, Washington.
After making his surprise return to the promotion on last week’s Collision, Kota Ibushi will wrestle his first AEW match since 2023 on tonight’s episode against Trent Beretta of The Don Callis Family. We will see what Ibushi has left in the tank after wrestling sparingly in 2024 and 2025 in Japan, competing a total of 11 times since his last AEW bout in November 2023, and just twice this year.
A pair of casino gauntlet matches for future World title shots are set for All In on July 12, and we will learn tonight which competitors will hold the advantageous number one spot in those bouts.
In a four-way for the number one spot in the men’s casino gauntlet, Konosuke Takeshita, Mark Briscoe, Roderick Strong, and ROH World Champion Bandido will face off.
In a four-way for the number one spot in the women’s casino gauntlet, it will be Willow Nightingale vs. Kris Statlander vs. Thunder Rosa vs. ROH Women’s World Champion Athena.

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Taz & Ian Riccaboni as we see Timeless Toni Storm (in her Carmen Sandiego attire) walking with Luther backstage until she’s attacked by Mercedes Mone. The ambush continues as Mone looks at the camera saying welcome to Dynamite before tossing Storm onto the ramp in the arena. Mone clocks an attendant holding a microphone, calls Storm a B*tch and applies the Statement Maker screaming to Storm she’s nothing but a stupid act. Referees and Christopher Daniels (who tries to get Mone to break the submission by just clapping at her, which was pretty hilarious) rush out until Mina Shirakawa & Luther make the save as Mone retreats, but says to Storm “dahling, let the games begin.”
The Young Bucks interrupt commentary’s opening rundown on the big screen, as they used their influence backstage to bump Will Ospreay & Swerve Strickland’s tag match for right now and not the second hour as originally planned.
Will Ospreay & Swerve Strickland (w/Prince Nana) vs. Blake Christian & Lee Johnson
(Fast paced opener with Christian & Johnson getting their offense in before Strickland & Ospreay ramped things up to take it. They work incredibly well together and the post-match challenge should set the stage for an incredible tag match at All In, that is, if The Bucks accept the challenge, which, as of this writing, isn’t official, yet.)
Ospreay literally ran to the ring still taping his wrists and his boots not even laced up yet, selling this was spur of the moment and abuse of power by The Bucks to push their tag match up. Strickland was still putting his new shirt on (I’m sure one you can purchase on ShopAEW) and got a huge reaction from the hometown crowd. Excalibur said Johnson & Christian didn’t look worried, as they might’ve been tipped off by The Bucks earlier about this match going on first.
Strickland & Johnson have a quick opening sequence with Johnson dodging a House Call and rolling suplex, as Christian & Ospreay (still rocking a shiner from two weeks ago’s thumbtack superkick) tag in, with Christian getting a snap head scissors and slap to the face. Manhattan Drop and hard chop receipt by Ospreay led to a double team running boot on Johnson, as Strickland connected on a bodyslam, while Ospreay hit a standing Sky Twister Press for two. Handspring corkscrew kick to Christian, as Ospreay followed it up with a slingshot cross body outside on Johnson. Right as Ospreay went for Pip, Pip, Cheerio, The Young Bucks entrance music hit, as Matthew & Nicholas take a seat and watch the action from the aisle, allowing for a distraction. Strickland ate a double stomp in the corner, as Christian wiped out Ospreay with a corkscrew dive into commercial with The Bucks applauding.
Johnson & Christian remained in control the entire break, as Johnson hit a Frog Splash and Christian with a 450 on Ospreay for two as things returned. Ospreay managed a wall walk enzugiri to create some space and made the hot tag to Strickland. With Christian trapped in the corner, Strickland catapulted Johnson onto his partner with a Buckle Bomb before hitting his signature uppercut out of the corner. Christian slid out of Big Pressure, but Strickland took a back bump, kipping up after Ospreay flew in and popped Johnson with a Hidden Blade in a great visual. Superkick into a Brainbuster combo connected, as Ospreay signaled to Strickland, who destroyed Christian with a House Call for the win.
Post-match, security had to separate Strickland & Ospreay from The Bucks, as Strickland took the mic and said they’re not going another year with this crap. The Franchise & The Feeling against The Young Bucks at All In. Ospreay said The Bucks might be the founding fathers of AEW, but it’s the people that supported them that AEW existed in the first place. Ospreay believes they’re all done with the power The Bucks have been abusing, as they’re making it more harm than good. At All In, Ospreay says to put the EVP titles on the line, as Strickland flew off the top with a Swerve Stomp onto the pile of security and referees, as The Bucks run off before answering the challenge officially.
Winners: Will Ospreay & Swerve Strickland when Strickland pinned Christian
-Highlights of Kota Ibushi’s unexpected return last week on Collision was shown and footage of DDT-Pro of The Golden Lovers and the history of Ibushi & Kenny Omega
**********
Matthew & Nicholas Jackson are backstage, calling Strickland a dumbass for what he just did. Matthew said he just put his hands on an AEW official and suspends him for a week without pay. Kazuchika Okada walks in with Rocky Romero & Trent Beretta, as Matthew tells Romero they like them, but his boss is kind of a jerk. He says by any means necessary they need to make Okada the first Unified Champion at All In and destroy Kenny Omega, but start with Kota Ibushi tonight. Beretta said he’s going to dismantle Ibushi, which delighted The Bucks, as everyone walks away, except Takeshita & Okada, who had a face-off. Takeshita reminded Okada this is only temporary, as Okada smirks and walks off.
Kota Ibushi vs. Trent Beretta (w/Rocky Romero)
(Relatively short, but solid return for Ibushi in his first actual singles match in AEW, while it’s Beretta’s first single since Double or Nothing last year. Both got their share of offense in this 7-minute match and Ibushi’s second match is already set up for next week, in what should be one hell of a showdown with Kazuchika Okada.)
Nice back and forth scramble from both in the opening moments, with Ibushi gaining a near fall via crucifix, followed up by a standing dropkick. Romero runs distraction, allowing Beretta to steamroll Ibushi and follows with forearms in the ropes before hitting a running boot to the outside. Beretta took the ref, giving Romero a chance to get his licks in before Beretta sent Ibushi into the barricade and back to the ring. Beretta charged, but Ibushi hit a snap powerslam for the reset. Combo strikes and standing moonsault by Ibushi got two, but as he looked for a half and half, Beretta managed an enzugiri to regain control. Beretta hit the Sexy Chuckie Knee and Gotch Style Piledriver, but Ibushi kicked out.
Paint brushing Ibushi only woke him up, as Beretta hit a Snap Dragon, but Ibushi no sold and planted Beretta with a Snap Dragon of his own. Crowd loudly behind Ibushi, as both trade close near falls until Beretta hit almost a Rainmaker variation. Ibushi blocked a home run shot, dragged Beretta to the mat and hit a gnarly standing double stomp before cracking Beretta with a V-Trigger and Kamigoye for the win.
Before Ibushi could celebrate much, the coin drop sounded and Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada walks to the ring and has a face-to-face stare down before retreating. We’re told Tony Khan has made it official, Ibushi faces Okada next week on the 300th episode of Dynamite.
Winner: Kota Ibushi defeated Trent Beretta via Kamigoye
-Jon Moxley is sitting in a stairwell and said the only thing we have is the present moment and it slips through out fingers like sand, which Page has lost a thousand times before, but here it’s back in his hands again. Moxley said Page is afraid to become what the world needs him to be, as he’s not so special. For someone like Moxley, someone like Page, makes him absolutely sick and he has no sympathy for his crybaby emo crap. The World Champion doesn’t take a single ounce of crap from anyone. Page shies away from the gifts he’s been given, but he’s not what the fans think he is. While Page is debating personal turmoil, Moxley doesn’t care about what he’s playing around with, as All In, he’ll lay him out with forearms and choking him out. After All In, Page will be left looking for another job.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with AR Fox, saying he has a lot of momentum going (I’m sorry, what?), despite losing to Jon Moxley on Collision last week. Ricochet interrupts and says Fox has momentum and said he has everything he’s been looking for to help him get gold in AEW. Ricochet invites Fox to team up with him tonight against JetSpeed and before Fox can answer, Ricochet shakes his hand and thanks him for accepting.
Ricochet & AR Fox vs. JetSpeed (Speedball Mike Bailey & Kevin Knight)
(The match itself was fine and Fox got his chance to shine more so than Ricochet, who is still searching for backup. The post-match was pretty noteworthy in that JetSpeed, once again, got annihilated by The Hurt Syndicate and this somehow is supposed to make us want to see this match at All In? With only a few weeks to go before the show, they’re going to have to do a hell of a lot to rehab Bailey & Knight to make them look like credible contenders, because right now, despite being popular babyfaces, the interest is pretty non-existent.)
Bell sounded and Ricochet told Fox he’d start, but quickly found himself being bounced back and forth between eating punches by Bailey & Knight. Ricochet quickly tagged in Fox, who sent Bailey outside, swept the leg from Knight, hit an over-the-top double stomp on the apron on Knight, then launched off him with a somersault senton on Bailey. Fox kept Knight back inside, as Ricochet got the crowd to chant for his partner. Knight fought out of a fireman’s carry, sent a charging Ricochet to the floor, as Fox was thrown out by Bailey, as JetSpeed hit dueling dives heading into commercial.
Back from break, Ricochet & Fox were bickering on who to give a suplex to Knight and started shoving one another, allowing Knight to back drop Ricochet to the floor and make a hot tag to Bailey. Machine gun kicks on Fox, as Bailey followed with a running Shooting Star Press for two. Double dropkick by JetSpeed, as they follow with a rolling pop-up lariat on Fox for another near fall. Bailey tagged, but Ricochet smashed him into the steps, giving Fox a chance to hit a Tope Suicida. Back inside, Lo-Mein Pain connects, as Bailey tagged Knight, but Fox leapt for a tag, only Ricochet left him high and dry. Knight hit a standing dropkick and Sky High on Fox before going up top for the UFO Splash to get the win as Ricochet watched from the aisle.
A dejected Fox was left alone, as JetSpeed walked up the ramp to Tony Schiavone, who called them red hot in the tag team division. Bailey said the Tag Team Titles have been held hostage and it’s time someone comes to their rescue. Knight said the titles need to come home around the waists of JetSpeed. Knight tried mocking MVP’s old theme song, but they were blindsided by The Hurt Syndicate, who beat the living hell out of Bailey & Knight, as MJF & MVP applauded as Lashley & Benjamin wrecked shop. MJF & MVP set up a table on the aisle, as Benjamin choked out Knight, set him up on the table, as Lashley spinebustered Bailey through his partner through the table.
MVP took the mic and said now that they’ve taken care of that piece of business, told production to hit their music, as they made their way to the ring with JetSpeed left in a heap.
Winners: JetSpeed defeated Ricochet & AR Fox when Knight pinned Fox via UFO Splash
The Hurt Syndicate Address Their Enemies
MVP did a roll call as he begs somebody stand up to the AEW Tag Team Champions. If JetSpeed can even stand up after that beating, he’ll be willing to give them a title opportunity at All In, on the condition that they can walk. MVP turns the mic over to the young genius, MJF, who talked about unmasking and defeating Mistico (MVP stopped MJF briefly and riled up the crowd more, telling them to shut up and insulting the fans saying they haven’t seen a star since the days of the Sonics). MJF said he’s going to enter a qualifying match next week for the Casino Gauntlet on another step back to what’s rightfully his, not dictator Jon’s or the crooked Cowboy Hangman, but his AEW World Championship. MJF said to hit their music, but Mark Briscoe’s music hits to a huge reaction.
Briscoe said everyone knows MJF can hear himself talk all night long, but production said they have a time limit, so if MJF could be so kindly, get out of the ring so he could do his business. MJF said he doesn’t give a damn what time it is, they can take up as much as they want, as unlike Briscoe, they’re actually stars. MJF said the fans relate to Briscoe because they have as many bills in their pockets as Briscoe has teeth in his mouth. Briscoe will do what he always does and lose, so go back to his ranch picking up chicken sh*t, you blue collared b*tch.
Briscoe said he sees MJF’s inner turmoil and pain, as all these hurtful comments is from growing up bullied, so the Word of the Day is Empathy (which got a chant), so please allow Briscoe to empathize, as it feels like MJF is trying to make up for something. If Briscoe was MJF, going 30 years with a tiny kosher pickle in his pants, he’d want to hang out with The Hurt Syndicate, too. This line popped Lashley & Benjamin, who are holding back laughter. Kosher Pickle chants from Seattle, as MVP said they’ll leave the ring for Briscoe to do what he does better than anyone else, lose. They slowly walk by Briscoe, who heads to the ring for the upcoming 4-way to see who gets the first spot in the men’s Casino Gauntlet. I need to point out there was a hilarious back and forth banter between Excalibur & Taz on how to properly pronounce the word gherkin and it’s something that took me back to the old AEW Dark days. Taz reminded us the “h is silent”.

ROH World Champion Bandido vs. Konosuke Takeshita vs. Mark Briscoe vs. Roderick Strong for the #1 Spot in the Men’s Casino Gauntlet at All In
(Match of the Night so far, as these four put on one hell of a 4-way. Everyone seemed to be involved and there was very little time where it felt like it was one on one. The crowd was loudly behind Briscoe, as usual, but especially after the promo he had just cut prior, as it was almost a given he would be walking away with the W. Getting the first spot in the Men’s Casino Gauntlet will only amp the crowd up more come All In when Briscoe makes his entrance.)
Bandido & Takeshita and Strong & Briscoe paired off to start, as Bandido wall walked Takeshita, who answered with a big boot. Bandido hit a tilt-a-whirl arm drag to the outside, but Takeshita avoided a dive and launched Bandido into the barricade. Strong caught Briscoe leaping off the top with a right hand to the midsection, as a baseball slide caught Takeshita and Bandido ate a Blockbuster off the apron. Briscoe high fived fans, giving Strong a chance to hit a baseball slide of his own and in control heading into break.
All four men are slugging it out when things return, until Strong & Briscoe start a chop battle. Strong cut off the charge with a dropkick, planted Bandido with a backbreaker, sent Takeshita over the top outside, then launched Briscoe out onto him. Bandido & Strong both collided with a double down. Both rose up and started swinging, until Bandido hit a pop-up cutter, wanted a Frog Splash, but Takeshita sent him crashing outside. Takeshita climbed, but Briscoe did the same thing, causing Takeshita to crash and burn. Briscoe missed a Froggy Bow on Strong, as both traded chops and strikes until Strong hit an Angle Slam and locomotion forearms until Takeshita flew in with a Helluva Kick. Takeshita hit a Superplex, but with both down, Briscoe & Bandido hit Froggy Bow & Frog Splashes respectively for close near falls.
Slap battle by Bandido & Briscoe, who flipped out of a back drop, but had his legs swiped out, Bandido tried a 21 Plex, but Takeshita came in to hit a double German Suplex (Excalibur called a 42 Plex). Strong escaped a Blue Thunder Bomb, hit a gutbuster, but as he charged for a Sick Kick, was planted by a Takeshita Blue Thunder Bomb for two. Bandido blindsided Takeshtia and hit the X-Knee, allowing Bandido to hit a 21 Plex, but Takeshita rolled outside. Strong cut off a Bandido dive with End of Heartache, but before he could recover, Briscoe flew in with a Froggy Bow to get the win and first spot in the Men’s Casino Gauntlet. The Hurt Syndicate were watching backstage, as MVP was applauding, MJF looked annoyed, as Lashley gave him a fist bump.
Winner: Mark Briscoe defeated Konosuke Takeshita, Roderick Strong & Bandido to earn the 1st spot in the Men’s Casino Gauntlet at All In
-Adam Cole is backstage talking about how the Don Callis Family has been a thorn in his side for too long. Cole issues an Open Challenge for his TNT Title tomorrow on Collision to any Family member.
ROH Women’s Champion Athena (w/Billie Starkz) vs. Thunder Rosa vs. Willow Nightingale vs. Kris Statlander for the #1 Spot in the Women’s Casino Gauntlet at All In
(This match had it’s moments, mainly with Statlander & Nightingale going at it, but towards the end, there were times when it felt very clunky and folks were in the wrong position. Rosa & Athena had an awkward sequence, but you could tell those two will be paired off going forward, as will Nightingale & Statlander. This potential involvement with Statlander & Death Riders has added an intriguing element in this story and I really hope it ends with Statlander & Nightingale on the same page, potentially as the first rumored AEW Women’s Tag Champions, it’s just a matter of getting there, as I don’t think we need yet another Statlander heel turn.)
Excalibur asked for Riccaboni’s freestyle for Nightingale’s entrance like he does with Caprice Coleman on Ring of Honor, but Taz put a stop to it, saying he’d attack him if he continued, as this is not ROH. Athena used Statlander as a shield before slapping Nightingale, which didn’t work out well, as Statlander fed Athena to the wolves, as Nightingale hit a somersault senton off the apron onto her. Rosa hit a springboard arm drag on Statlander, who was sent to the apron by Nightingale, as everyone took turns hitting tilt-a-whirl head scissors on one another. Locomotion corner strikes by Athena on everyone in her path, as she went up for the O-Face, but Statlander cut her off with a Helluva Kick. Rosa joined her in the ropes, as Nightingale walked over and completed the Tower of Doom spot, with Nightingale posing into commercial.
Back from break, rolling fireman’s carry by Athena, who tried it one too many times, as Rosa sort of countered into a crucifix for two. Nightingale & Statlander came in and cleaned house, leaving both face-to-face. Statlander tried a backflip head scissors, but Nightingale countered, they both teased Doctor Bombs until Athena broke it up. Athena tried a double suplex, but was planted by Nightingale & Statlander, who turned into a Rosa missile dropkick. Cazadora into a double stomp on Nightingale got Rosa a near fall, as Athena backflipped out of a suplex, tried a head scissors, but the two kind of were on different pages briefly. They trade near falls again, until Statlander had to change directions multiple times before slamming Rosa down onto Athena.
Drop toe hold sent Statlander crashing into the ropes by Rosa, who hit her stalling dropkick. She tried again, but Athena pulled her to the outside and ordered Starkz to get her ROH championship. Starkz rushed it over, but by the time she returned, Rosa slammed Athena into the steps. Rosa wanted a suplex, but Athena countered with one off the steps. Back in the ring, Nightingale squashed Statlander with a corner cannonball, but Statlander fought out of a Doctor Bomb. Marina Shafir walked out from the back to distract Nightingale, as Wheeler Yuta spun Nightingale around, but she flattened him with a Pounce. This delay allowed Statlander to flatten Nightingale with Staturday Night Fever for the win. Shafir smirked, as she dragged Yuta away with Statlander realizing the assist she just got.
Winner: Kris Statlander defeated Willow Nightingale, Thunder Rosa & Athena to earn the 1st spot in the Women’s Casino Gauntlet at All In
-Recap of Collision and Christian Cage wanting his son Nick Wayne to walk beside him to become the first father & son AEW Tag Team Champions is shown. We’re told Cage & Wayne will face Big Bill & Bryan Keith on Collision

-Renee Paquette is backstage with FTR & Big Stoke, as she brings up The Outrunners interrupting their 8-man tag last week on Collision, running them off. Hathaway said it’s egregious that Truth & Turbo got involved and said he suggested good old-fashioned vandalism in response, but Dax & Cash are upstanding men of the community and outvoted him. They issue a challenge to The Outrunners tomorrow on Collision to settle it a much more respectable way.
Hangman Adam Page vs. The Beast Mortos
(I have two complaints about this main event, one is that I wish it went longer, these two worked incredibly well with one another. The other, I really don’t need Page trying and missing his Orihara Moonsault this close to All In, as I winced when he landed on his feet. We need to keep Page as healthy as possible before his showdown with Moxley. The post-match gave Moxley the one-up on Page, as he firmly has Page’s former best friends behind him, with The Bucks blaming Page for forcing their hand. Entertaining chaos to end the show this week.)
Mortos was able to weather and avoid the fast offense from Page and fired off a headbutt that connected, as both traded corner strikes until Page moved and Mortos crashed and burned outside. Springboard lariat dropped Mortos, as Page brought him back in the ring and hit a fall away slam back to the corner as Page controlled the action into commercial.
Page blocked another Mortos headbutt, but the third attempt connected. Mortos swung wildly and missed a discus lariat, giving Page a chance to hit one of his own for two. Mortos fought off Dead Eye initially, but Page hit a pop-up powerbomb for another near fall. Page missed an Orihara Moonsault, landing on his feet, as Mortos quickly sprinted back in the ring and out with a Tornillo. Back inside, pop-up Samoan Drop hit for Mortos to get a near fall, as did the follow-up lungblower. Page wiggled out of a Tombstone, but Mortos managed to swing into a spike. Page answered with a Poison Rana and wild lariat, as Page followed with a Buckshot Lariat that crumbled Mortos for the victory.
Post-match, the lights went out and when they came on, The Young Bucks had Page’s arms and laid him out with an EVP Trigger. Matthew & Nicholas screamed at Page that this is all his fault as the Death Riders music hit and Jon Moxley walks out with Marina Shafir & Wheeler Yuta to pick up the pieces. Page was surrounded, as Shafir handed Moxley a chain that he wrapped around Page’s throat, choking him out. The Opps try hitting the ring, but The Bucks & Yuta are holding them off before Will Ospreay sprints out and they all break through. Death Riders & The Bucks bail through the crowd, as doctors tend to Page. Moxley told the camera at All In, he’ll show the World what the one champion looks like.
Winner: Hangman Adam Page defeated The Beast Mortos via Buckshot Lariat

Kota Ibushi vs. Trent Beretta set for AEW Dynamite
An opponent has now been named for Kota Ibushi’s first AEW match since 2023.
AEW has announced that ibushi vs. Trent Beretta will take place on Dynamite this Wednesday night. The show is being held in Kent, Washington and will continue the build to AEW’s All In pay-per-view.
Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada are set to renew their legendary rivalry at All In on July 12, facing off in a match to unify the AEW International Championship with the Continental Championship. There was an angle on Collision this past weekend where Ibushi — one of Omega’s best friends — made his surprise return to AEW by fighting with Okada and the Don Callis Family.
Okada was recently revealed as the newest member of the Don Callis Family. Beretta is also a member of the faction.
A Japanese wrestling legend, Ibushi signed with AEW in 2023 but has only wrestled a few times for the promotion due to his career being hampered by injuries. This will be the first singles match he’s ever had for AEW.
No other match announcements have been made for Wednesday’s show as of now.
AEW Dynamite (Wednesday, June 25) —
- Kota Ibushi vs. Trent Beretta
