John Morrison announced for GCW Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport 8

The former John Morrison will take part in GCW Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport 8.

Barnett announced the news this afternoon on social media. He will wrestle under his real name, John Hennigan. The following night at GCW Gringo Loco’s The Wrld on Lucha, Hennigan will wrestle as Johnny Caballero.

Hennigan returned to the ring on February 19th, 2022 at AAA Rey de Reyes in Veracruz, Mexico after being released by WWE last year. Wrestling as John Superstar, he was defeated by El Hijo del Vikingo in a match for the AAA Mega Championship.

The 42-year-old Hennigan was released from his WWE contract on November 18th, 2021. He had been with the company since September 2019. His first run with WWE lasted from 2002 to 2011.

Bloodsport 8 takes place March 31st from Fair Park in Dallas, Texas. Those already announced for the show include Jon Moxley, JONAH, Timothy Thatcher, Marina Shafir, Janai Kai, Biff Busick, and Minoru Suzuki. The event will air live on FITE TV.

John Morrison announced for GCW Gringo Loco’s The Wrld on Lucha

The former John Morrison in WWE will wrestle under the name Johnny Caballero for Gringo Loco’s The Wrld on Lucha, set for April 1st in Dallas, Texas.

Loco announced on Thursday that Hennigan will take part in the show, his first time wrestling for GCW. Drago Kid and Pagano have also been announced with matches still to come.

Morrison (John Hennigan) was released from WWE last November. He returned to pro wrestling last Saturday at AAA’s Rey de Reyes. Wrestling as John Superstar, he was defeated by El Hijo del Vikingo in a match for the AAA Mega Championship.

Others shows that will take place under the Collective banner over WrestleMania weekend include two nights of Joey Janela’s Spring Break 8, Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport 8, For The Culture, Planet Death, JCW vs. LA Fights, Effy’s Big Gay Brunch, and more.

GCW returns this weekend with two events from Los Angeles Friday and Saturday, respectively. Welcome to Heartbreak on Friday will feature Sean “X-Pac” Waltman’s promotional in-ring debut as he teams with Joey Janela to face Matt Cardona and Brian Myers.

John Morrison to challenge for Mega title at AAA Rey de Reyes

El Hijo del Vikingo will make the first defense of his AAA Mega title at February 19th’s Rey de Reyes against former champion John Morrison for the first time ever.

Morrison will go by his real name of John Hennigan instead of Johnny Mundo which he used when he last worked there.

Vikingo won a five-way for the vacant title at Triplemania Regia earlier this month. The match was a change from his scheduled match against then-champion Kenny Omega who had to withdraw due to various surgeries.

Morrison was the champion for nearly a year from 2017-18 before losing it to Dr. Wagner Jr. in his last match for the promotion. This is the first match announced for the 42-year-old since he was released by WWE in November.

While not announced, it’s expected that Morrison’s wife and former AAA Reina de Reinas Champion Taya Valkyrie will also be on the show, likely as the mystery entrant in a four-way no. 1 contender’s match for the title. She was also released by WWE this fall.

Also announced for the Veracruz show during a press conference was Rey Fenix and Pentagon Jr. against Dragon Lee and Dralistico; Laredo Kid vs. Bandido vs. Cibernetico vs. Psycho Clown vs. a mystery opponent and more.

Neither current Tag Team Champions FTR nor Reina de Reinas Champion Deonna Purrazzo will be on the show for which no reason was given.

John Morrison addresses WWE release, ready for ‘another chapter’

For the first time since being released by WWE, John Morrison posted a four-minute video to Instagram Sunday acknowledging his release, thanking his fans, and indicating he isn’t done with pro wrestling just yet.

Morrison confirmed that he was released, saying that he got the call from John Laurinaitis that his “services were no longer required.” He joked he didn’t even get Laurinaitis’ catchphrase of wishing him luck in his future endeavors.

He said the whole idea of making yourself look bad to make someone else look good is a foreign concept to so many, but that is what meant to him so much about this latest WWE run. He said he spoke to people he hadn’t seen in ten years, both reconnecting with old friends and making new ones while working with some of the best production people in the business.

“The whole thing was nostalgic. It brought me back to how I felt when I was brand new to the business,” he said, later admitting that he was always so nervous about doing everything right, even getting to the arenas earlier than most. He joked that by doing so, it actually gave him more time to be nervous.

He said the most important thing he learned during his first WWE run was that “it’s not the stuff that people go to see pro wrestling for, it’s the stories” that matter and that he happens to be a storyteller with tools like flips, kicks and hair whips that help him tell the stories.

“The great thing about being a storyteller is when one chapter ends, another begins,” he closed.

WWE Main Event results: John Morrison’s final stand

This week’s WWE Main Event lineup, taped Monday in Indianapolis, Indiana, had what would be the final WWE match for John Morrison and a tag team match between The Hurt Business and Apollo Crews & Commander Azeez that featured a botched finish.

Jimmy Smith and Byron Saxton handled commentary.

Veer Mahaan defeated John Morrison (3:51)

As you probably heard, Morrison was released Thursday along with seven other wrestlers, making this what will likely be his final ever WWE match. To no big surprise, it didn’t show off any of his best attributes.

Mahaan is an 80s-style WWF villian with menacing looks, lots of grunting, basic power moves….and rest holds. He also appears to get lost in transitions, especially in easy things like moving to the aforementioned rest hold and to the very complicated body slam.

Morrison bumped for him very well, including a big spin bump off a shoulderblock. He also sprung off the middle rope but went right into a Mahaan knee. Mahaan finished off Morrison with a jumping elbow that commentary put off as him getting big air, two Vader splashes in the corner and the Million Dollar Arm clothesline.

And just like that, the 42-year-old two-year run back in WWE came to an end.

The Hurt Business defeated Apollo Crews and Commander Azeez (5:48)

I guess Crews and Azeez are faces now? The crowd was pretty complacent for this one as they were likely as confused as I was. Azeez was smiling as the match started so perhaps that’s a clue of where they are going.

Cedric Alexander played the comedy heel role up early, blowing himself up like a balloon to make himself bigger in there against Azeez. He quickly got dispatched and Benjamin got muscled over the top rope because, you see, Azeez is all.

Benjamin and Alexander eventually got the advantage by taunting Azeez which caused the referee to get distracted getting him out of there. The Hurt Business then hit Crews from behind and there you go.

This match had a botched end as Alexander hit a basic suplex on Crews, went for the pin with no leg hook and Crews got his shoulder up as the referee looked to count three. Time stopped as Alexander stared at the referee and she then called for the bell, ending the match. Alexander and Benjamin played it off as that they couldn’t believe it while Crews was talking to the referee while he was still down. We never did get the Azeez hot tag depriving the good people of Indianapolis of what they came to see.

WWE Raw video highlights: The Miz attacks John Morrison

The Miz and John Morrison’s partnership came to an end on last night’s post-SummerSlam episode of Raw.

Tensions between Miz and Morrison led to Miz turning against Morrison on Raw last night. After a Moist TV segment with Logan Paul appearing as Morrison’s guest, Miz faced Xavier Woods in a singles match. A failed distraction by Morrison caused the referee to miss Miz pinning Woods. Woods then used a small package to get the win.

Morrison apologized to Miz after the match. They started to spray their Drip Sticks into the crowd, but Miz then attacked Morrison. He beat Morrison down before dropping him with a Skull Crushing Finale.

Morrison and Miz will face off on next Monday’s episode of Raw. Morrison cut a promo later in last night’s show saying that he wants to end Miz next week.

WWE Champion Bobby Lashley opened last night’s show until being confronted by Damian Priest. Drew McIntyre saving Priest from Lashley and Sheamus led to a tag team match taking place.

New Raw Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair also made an appearance last night before being interrupted by Alexa Bliss and Lilly.

Riddle faced off with AJ Styles in last night’s main event. Plus, Karrion Kross debuted an updated look.

Logan Paul appearance announced for WWE Raw

Image: WWE

YouTube star Logan Paul is set to make his first WWE appearance since WrestleMania.

WWE has announced that Paul will be John Morrison’s guest for a “Moist TV” talk show segment on Monday’s episode of Raw. The segment made its debut on Raw earlier this week and also features The Miz.

Paul made his WWE television debut during the build to WrestleMania 37 earlier this year. At WrestleMania 37 night two, he was ringside for Kevin Owens’ match against Sami Zayn. Owens laid Paul out with a stunner after the match.

Paul faced Floyd Mayweather in a boxing exhibition this June, lasting the full eight rounds without being knocked out.

Paul’s brother, fellow YouTuber Jake Paul, will face former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley in a boxing match on Sunday, August 29.

Monday’s Raw is taking place at Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California. It’s the post-SummerSlam episode of the show.

First seven wrestlers qualify for WWE Money in the Bank

The field for this year’s Money in the Bank ladder matches has started to take shape.

The first five Money in the Bank qualifying matches took place on tonight’s episode of Raw. Ricochet, John Morrison, and Riddle qualified for the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match, while Asuka, Naomi, Alexa Bliss, and Nikki Cross qualified for the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match.

Ricochet defeated AJ Styles to qualify for Money in the Bank, Morrison defeated Randy Orton, and Riddle defeated Drew McIntyre.

Asuka, Naomi, Bliss, and Cross all qualified for Money in the Bank through winning tag team matches. Asuka & Naomi defeated Eva Marie & Doudrop (Piper Niven). Bliss & Cross defeated Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler.

The men’s and women’s Money in the Bank ladder matches will each feature eight participants.

Styles, Orton, and McIntyre are set to face off in a triple threat last chance qualifying match on Raw next Monday. It will determine Raw’s final participant for the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match.

As a stipulation of him unsuccessfully challenging for Bobby Lashley’s WWE Championship at Hell in a Cell, McIntyre can’t challenge for the WWE Championship again while Lashley is still champion. It was said on Raw that, if McIntyre wins Money in the Bank, he would have to wait until Lashley loses the WWE Championship if he wants to cash in on that title. McIntyre could also cash in on the Universal Champion.

Money in the Bank is taking place at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas on Sunday, July 18.

Priest wins zombie lumberjack match at WWE WrestleMania Backlash

In what ended up being a bizarre match featuring zombie lumberjacks, Damian Priest defeated The Miz at WrestleMania Backlash.

Prior to the match, John Morrison attempted to curry favor with the lumberjacks by entering their locker room, but quickly found out that they were zombies. After Miz and Priest entered the ring, the zombies arrived. Throughout the match, the zombies would go after both Priest and Miz. The finish of the match had Morrison stand on the guardrail in an attempt to take out the zombies, but was dragged down by zombies hidden in the barricade. Priest then grabbed a distracted Miz and hit the lights out for the win.

After the match, the zombie horde piled on the fallen Miz, with the assumption being that they were consuming him.

The zombies were part of a promotional tie-in for the upcoming movie Army of The Dead, which stars Batista. It was released in theatres on May 14 and will stream on Netflix starting May 21. Batista tweeted prior to tonight’s show that he was sending some of his friends to tonight’s pay-per-view.

Bad Bunny to team with Damian Priest at WWE WrestleMania 37

WWE has announced a change to one of the matches for WrestleMania 37.

At WrestleMania 37 night one this Saturday, it will now be Bad Bunny & Damian Priest teaming together against The Miz & John Morrison. The bout had originally been announced as a singles match between Bad Bunny and Miz.

The change to the match was made official when Miz & Morrison accepted a challenge from Bad Bunny & Priest on Raw tonight. In an angle earlier on the show, Miz and Morrison defaced Bad Bunny’s $3.6 million Bugatti by painting on it. When Bad Bunny came to see what Miz and Morrison had done to his car, Miz and Morrison attacked him from behind.

Bad Bunny will be making his in-ring debut at WrestleMania 37. The music superstar first appeared for WWE when he performed his song “Booker T” at the Royal Rumble this January. Bad Bunny & Priest have been feuding with Miz & Morrison since then.

WrestleMania 37 is taking place at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida this Saturday and Sunday. Both nights will air live on Peacock in the United States and live on the WWE Network everywhere else.

Here are the updated cards for both nights of WrestleMania 37:

WrestleMania 37 night one (Saturday, April 10) —

  • SmackDown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks defends against Bianca Belair
  • WWE Champion Bobby Lashley defends against Drew McIntyre
  • Bad Bunny & Damian Priest vs. The Miz & John Morrison
  • Raw Tag Team Champions The New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods) defend against AJ Styles & Omos
  • Steel cage match: Braun Strowman vs. Shane McMahon

  • “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt vs. Randy Orton
  • Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn
  • Intercontinental Champion Big E defends against Apollo Crews in a Nigerian Drum Fight
  • United States Champion Riddle defends against Sheamus
  • WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler defend against the winners of the Tag Team Turmoil match from night one

Bad Bunny vs. The Miz announced for WWE WrestleMania 37

Bad Bunny vs. The Miz has been made official for WrestleMania 37.

On tonight’s episode of Raw, The Miz formally issued a challenge to Bad Bunny for a match at WrestleMania during an episode of Miz TV. After defeating Jeff Hardy later in the show, The Miz was laid out by Bad Bunny after he smashed a guitar into Miz’s back, payback for Miz attacking Bad Bunny in the same fashion last week. Bad Bunny then accepted Miz’s challenge for WrestleMania.

It was later announced that a new Dirt Sheet would take place next week on Raw, where The Miz and John Morrison will premiere their new music video “Hey Hey Hop Hop”, in honor of Bad Bunny.

Bad Bunny has been feuding with both The Miz and John Morrison since appearing at the Royal Rumble in January, laying both out with a dive during the men’s Royal Rumble match. He has been allied with Damien Priest, who debuted for the Raw brand following the Royal Rumble. Priest helped Bad Bunny win the 24/7 Championship. However, Bad Bunny later gave the title to R-Truth.

WrestleMania is scheduled to take place on two nights, April 10 and 11.

Miz TV, Riddle vs. Morrison announced for WWE Raw

New WWE Champion The Miz will kick off tonight’s Raw with an episode of Miz TV.

WWE made the announcement this evening.

Miz won the WWE title after cashing  in his Money in the Bank briefcase on former champ Drew McIntyre at last night’s Elimination Chamber PPV.

New United States Champion Riddle has also been announced for tonight’s show, taking on John Morrison in singles competition.

At last night’s PPV, Morrison won a four-way on the kickoff show to gain a spot in the triple threat United States title match on the main card, beating Ricochet, Elias and Mustafa Ali. Riddle then pinned Morrison to win the title, as former champ Lashley was not involved in the decision.

Women’s Tag Team Champions Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler will also be in action tonight, taking on Charlotte Flair and Raw Women’s Champion Asuka.

Jax and Baszler defeated Flair and Asuka for the Women’s Tag titles on the Royal Rumble kickoff show on January 31.

United States title changes hands at WWE Elimination Chamber

A new United States champion was crowned during tonight’s WWE Elimination Chamber event.

Riddle defeated John Morrison and Bobby Lashley in a triple threat match to win the title. The finish had John Morrison take MVP’s crutch to use on Lashley. However, Lashley countered and put Morrison in the Hurt Lock, causing Morrison to drop the crutch. Riddle grabbed it, attacked Lashley, then pinned Morrison with the Bro Derek to win. This is Riddle’s first run with the United States title.

This ends Lashley’s run with the title after 172 days, defeating Apollo Crews for the championship back at WWE Payback on August 30.

The triple threat match was originally supposed to feature Keith Lee, as he and Riddle had a match two weeks ago on Raw that Lee won. However, Lashley came out and attacked both men after the match, including using steel stairs to attack Lee. Prior to the start of tonight’s event, it was announced that Lee would not be able to compete due to an injury. A fatal four way match was then set up, where Morrison defeated Mustafa Ali, Ricochet, and Elias to advance to the pay-per-view.

Keith Lee pulled from WWE Elimination Chamber

Keith Lee is off tonight’s Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event.

WWE confirmed this afternoon on social media that Keith Lee would be unable to compete tonight, citing injuries sustained by Bobby Lashley’s attack two weeks ago on Raw. A fatal four way match will take place tonight on the pre-show prior to Elimination Chamber, with the winner facing Riddle and Lashley in a triple threat match for Lashley’s United States title. PWInsider originally reported this afternoon that Lee was off the event.

The participants for the fatal four way match include Mustafa Ali, Ricochet, Elias, and John Morrison.

The United States title match was set up two weeks ago on Raw when Keith Lee defeated Riddle. Lashley then came out and attacked both men, laying out Lee with steel stairs and putting Riddle in The Hurt Lock submission. It was later announced that both men would face Lashley in a triple threat match. On this past Monday’s Raw, it was mentioned on commentary that Lee may have been injured as a result of Lashley’s attack.
