Sheamus teases WWE in-ring comeback on social media

Sheamus fueled the speculation of his WWE in-ring comeback by sharing a series of training photos.

Sidelined with a shoulder injury, the former World Champion Sheamus was recently at the WWE Performance Center, training and working out in the ring.

He shared a carousel of photos from his training session on social media with the caption, “A fun day.” Sheamus was seen training with WWE NXT wrestlers Myles Borne, Hank Walker, and Tank Ledger. He also posted an aftermath image of the session with welts on his back.

The 48-year-old was last seen wrestling on the November 17, 2025, episode of WWE RAW, where he teamed up with Rey Mysterio and John Cena to defeat The Judgment Day (Dominik Mysterio, Finn Balor & JD McDonagh). He was also scheduled to be a part of John Cena’s retirement Last Time is Now tournament. However, he was ruled out of it due to the shoulder injury. Shortly after, he underwent surgery in December.

Despite the tease on social media, there are currently no confirmed updates on Sheamus’ in-ring comeback.

Sheamus gives update on shoulder injury

Former WWE World Champion Sheamus has dropped a detailed update on his shoulder injury months after undergoing surgery.

During an interview on OTB Football, Sheamus gave an update on his shoulder injury and recovery.

“This one’s been difficult; it kind of came out of nowhere. I started noticing my shoulder around May/June, then I had the Clash In Paris with Rusev, it was bothering me, and I thought I tore it, and I got a couple of shots in there, and it felt good for a little while, but ultimately it was just a matter of time before it stopped moving on me,” he said.

“My thing has always been very, very physical; I’ve always prided myself in a physical style. A lot of my opponents don’t like that, but tough luck. My thing has always been that, go out there and put on a banger, match of the night, every single time. I don’t care if I get zero build up, a week of build up, I don’t get the luxury of having these in-ring segments that go on forever, but I just go out there and my goal is to put on a banger, a physical match like no-one has seen the likes of and just get the crowd on their feet, that’s what I do, and I do it better than anybody.”

He further opened up on undergoing surgery last year in December and being in rehab since then. “Of course, it comes with the situation where I could get banged up as well. This shoulder thing, I really tried to push through it to the point I couldn’t even move my arm. So I had surgery December 30, and ever since then, I’ve been in rehab.”

“Dying” to get back in the ring, Sheamus believes he still has a lot to give to the business. “I have a lot still to give in this business, I’m just as passionate now, probably more, than I was when I first started, and I wanna get back out there and start putting bangers on, and God help whoever’s across the ring from me, because full North Side Dublin is coming at them, nothing’s gonna stop me.”

Sheamus last performed on the November 17th episode of WWE RAW, where he teamed up with John Cena and Rey Mysterio against The Judgment Day. Following this, he was also taken out of the The Last Time is Now tournament due to the injury.

WWE’s Sheamus undergoes shoulder surgery

Former World Champion Sheamus has now undergone surgery following his ongoing absence from televised WWE programming.

The update was earlier shared by his wife, Isabella Revilla-Farrelly, on social media. She uploaded a video of the couple arriving at the Birmingham Surgery Center in Birmingham, Alabama, a facility often visited by WWE talent for medical procedures.

“When I told my husband I wanted to go on one last trip before the end of the year, this is NOT what I meant. From the Eiffel Tower in Paris to the Trevi Fountain in Rome to La Sagrada Família in Barcelona to… the Birmingham Surgery Center in Alabama — I’m honestly just happy to travel with him.”

As per PWInsider, he underwent surgery on his shoulder on Tuesday in Birmingham, Alabama.

Sheamus last performed on the November 17th episode of WWE RAW alongside John Cena and Rey Mysterio against The Judgment Day. Following this, he was also taken out of the The Last Time is Now tournament on November 21st due to the injury.

He had previously advanced in the tournament by defeating Shinsuke Nakamura in the first round on November 10th, 2025.

As of now, there are currently no confirmed updates on the 47-year-old’s in-ring return timeline.

Bret Hart says he has a hard time watching today’s wrestling: ‘It’s too fake for me’

Bret Hart isn’t a fan of today’s professional wrestling.

While appearing on the Johnny I Pro Show, Hart said he has a hard time watching today’s wrestling, preferring to watch wrestling from the 1990s instead. He feels today’s wrestling is too ‘fake,’ comparing wrestlers to actors.

“It’s too fake for me,” he said. “But I love watching the old 90s wrestling, I really do. When I watch my matches back, just in almost any match, even obscure Stampede Wrestling matches, there’s something about the realism, the punches and the kicks, and even just the way the presentation is. It just seems to me to be more onus put on the workmanship of learning the craft of being wrestlers. I think that today’s wrestlers are actors, most of them are actors pretending to be wrestlers, and you know, they don’t actually know how to wrestle and they don’t even know what a headlock is.”

“Everything is a high spot,” he continued. “Everything is high spots, like, I want to get my move in. It’s like, I don’t know, I always thought wrestling needed to actually pretend to be wrestling. I miss the wrestling aspect and the psychology of the 60s and 70s wrestling, like the presentation of trying to, you know, pretending that it’s a real sport.”

Later, Hart singled out one current wrestler’s punches in particular: Sheamus.

“Whenever I see him I’m like why don’t you take ten minutes and go down and have someone teach you how to throw a punch instead of throwing that embarrassment of a punch?”

At this year’s WWE Hall of Fame, Hart was inducted for a third time, with his match against Steve Austin at WrestleMania 13 being named the first-ever ‘Immortal Moment.’

Report: Sheamus’ replacement in The Last Time Is Now tournament revealed

According to a new report, Sheamus’ replacement in The Last Time Is Now tournament has been determined.

PWInsider is reporting that The Miz will take Sheamus’ spot in the next round and will face LA Knight. The November 28 episode of SmackDown was taped on Friday night and features a backstage segment with Miz and R-Truth discussing who will replace Sheamus in the tournament.

WWE revealed on Friday afternoon that Sheamus was dealing with a shoulder injury and would not be able to continue in the tournament. He had defeated Shinsuke Nakamura in the first round.

The first round of the tournament concluded on last night’s episode of WWE SmackDown, with Carmelo Hayes advancing after a count out win over Bronson Reed and Penta defeating Finn Balor. Also having advanced to the next round are Gunther, Rusev, Jey Uso, LA Knight, and Solo Sikoa. Penta vs. Sikoa, and Gunther vs. Hayes is set for Monday’s Raw.

Sheamus pulled from WWE Last Time is Now tournament

An injury has forced Sheamus to withdraw from WWE’s The Last Time is Now tournament.

WWE announced this afternoon that, despite winning his first-round match, Sheamus will not be able to continue in the tournament to decide John Cena’s final opponent. A shoulder injury is the reason for Sheamus having to withdraw. WWE has not confirmed a replacement yet, but we could find that out soon. WWE says more information will be revealed on SmackDown tonight.

Sheamus defeated Shinsuke Nakamura in the opening round on the November 10 episode of Raw. His quarterfinal matchup was supposed to happen next Friday on SmackDown.

The first round of the tournament wraps up with Carmelo Hayes vs. Bronson Reed and Penta vs. Finn Balor taking place on SmackDown tonight. Rusev, Jey Uso, LA Knight, Gunther, and Solo Sikoa have already booked their quarterfinal spots.

Cena will face the tournament winner at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington, D.C. on December 13 in the last match of his legendary career.

This past Monday on Raw at Madison Square Garden, Cena and Sheamus were partners in a six-man tag match. They teamed up with Rey Mysterio to defeat The Judgment Day (Dominik Mysterio, Balor & JD McDonagh).

WWE has not announced how long Sheamus is expected to be sidelined with his injury.

Sheamus praises ‘incredible’ WWE NXT star following house show match

Sheamus has praise for one particular NXT talent.

Talking to Busted Open Radio, it was mentioned that Sheamus had been working NXT house shows this past week. On November 13, he defeated Je’Von Evans in St. Paul, Minnesota. The Celtic Warrior took time to give Evans his flowers, praising his athletic ability.

“Not only can he do athletic things, he looks like he’s bouncing on the moon, he’s got anti-gravity boots on,” Sheamus explained. “Took a beating and gave it back, and just you can see he’s just so excited to be there. He’s 21 years old, incredible.”

“He’s even put some muscle on as well, he’s bulked up a bit, and it hasn’t affected his athleticism or the stuff he does,” he added. “And also, he’s always smiling, he’s just so happy to be there.”

Evans has had some high profile matches in NXT, including wrestling Randy Orton. He will appear on Monday’s Raw as part of the Last Time Is Now tournament, taking on a returning Gunther. He will also team with TNA’s Leon Slater to challenge DarkState for the NXT Tag Team titles on the first night of Gold Rush this coming Tuesday.

First two participants advance in The Last Time Is Now tournament on WWE Raw

Two of John Cena’s formal rivals have qualified into the next round of the ‘Last Time is Now’ tournament on WWE Raw.

Tonight on the November 10th episode of Raw in Cena’s hometown of Boston, Massachusets, Rusev defeated Damian Priest to qualify into second round of the ‘Last Time is Now’ tournament. Later, during the final hour of the show, Sheamus defeated Shinsuke Nakamura to advance in the tournament as well.

While The Celtic Warrior and Nakamura engaged in an extremely closesly-contested fight, Rusev took advantage of Priest’s current weakness and injured eye to enter the tournament’s next round. As Sheamus and Rusev both earned their victories tonight, John Cena also defeated Dominik Mysterio to become a Grand Slam Champion.

The ‘Last Time is Now’ tournament will have 16-men across Raw, SmackDown, NXT, and non-WWE stars compete against each other in a tournament format for a chance to face Cena in his retirement match next month.

As of now, here are the announced matches –

  • Rusev defeats Damian Priest
  • Sheamus defeats Shinsuke Nakamura
  • The Miz vs Jey Uso
  • LA Knight vs mystery opponent
  • Je’Von Evans vs Gunther
  • Solo Sikoa vs mystery opponent

Rusev wants John Cena to return following retirement

With just a handful of appearances left for Cena, the 17-time World Champion is now set to retire on the December 13th edition of Saturday’s Night Main Event. A few days ago, during his appearance with Shakiel Mahjouri at SHAK Wrestling, Rusev shared his thoughts on Cena’s retirement.

“I don’t believe it. I’m not holding my breath. I love John [Cena], and this may be his last match of this century or whatnot, but at some point, I want to see him back, whenever that is.”

The 48-year-old is next set to appear on Raw at the Madison Square Garden on November 17th, then at Survivor Series in San Diego later this month.

New stipulation match added, Roman Reigns issues challenge for WWE Clash in Paris

Roman Reigns wants Bronson Reed in Paris.

The end of Raw saw Reigns make his return, taking out members of The Vision to make the save for Jey Uso, who was wrestling Breakker in an extreme rules match. Reigns speared Breakker to attempted to flee once Reigns’ music hit and also took out Bronson Reed, who attempted to interfere in the match. The distractions allowed Uso to pick up the win after hitting a superkick on Breakker and splashed him through the table.

Reigns told Reed as he was retreating that he’d see him in Paris. Reed agreed to the match that as of now, hasn’t been officially announced.

Meanwhile, one match that was made official is Sheamus taking on Rusev in a Good ‘Ol Fashioned Donnybrook match. Jackie Redmond had attempted to interview Sheamus during Raw, but once again saw himself fighting Rusev. Officials ended up breaking up the brawl, with GM Adam Pearce very loudly announcing they would settle things once and for all in a Good ‘Ol Fashioned Donnybrook match in Paris.

Here is the updated card for WWE Clash in Paris:

WWE Clash in Paris (August 31):

  • World Championship: Seth Rollins defends against Jey Uso, LA Knight, CM Punk
  • John Cena vs. Logan Paul
  • Roman Reigns vs. Bronson Reed (not yet official)
  • Good ‘Ol Fashioned Donnybrook match: Sheamus vs. Rusev

Rusev vs. Sheamus added to WWE Raw

A battle between former friends has been added to Raw.

During Night of Champions, it was confirmed that Sheamus will do battle with Rusev this Monday in Pittsburgh. This comes after several weeks of backstage confrontations between the two.

The two participated in a four-way opening round match of the King of the Ring that was won by Jey Uso. The following week, Sheamus was given words of encouragement by members of Alpha Academy when Rusev appeared, accusing Sheamus of trying to be everybody’s friend while stabbing them in the back. Sheamus shot back, saying he remembered Rusev as the most egotistical member of their short-lived stable League of Nations, saying it was time to put up or shut up.

Already set for Raw is a World Tag Team title match with The New Day defending against Finn Balor and JD McDonagh. The show will air at a special start time of 6 pm ET on Netflix:

WWE Raw, Monday, June 30, 6 p.m. Eastern time on Netflix —

  • World Tag Team Champions The New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods) defend against The Judgment Day (Finn Balor & JD McDonagh)
  • Sheamus vs. Rusev

Sheamus: ‘There’s no way’ R-Truth won’t return to WWE at some point

Sheamus believes R-Truth will return to WWE at some point.

During an appearance on Wednesday’s episode of The Pat McAfee Show, he was asked about the recent departures of R-Truth and Carlito, as well as the “We Want Truth” chants heard on WWE Raw.

“What we do, the fans get to know who that person is, and they get to fall in love with the character and the personality. Like Truth, for example, he’s one of the most beloved, he’s one of the most entertaining… I had my first dark match against him when I came up in ’07. I think I joined in ’07, ’08.”

The match he is referring to happened on July 22, 2008, at a SmackDown taping in Philadelphia. It was just Sheamus’ second bout with the company. Truth had returned to WWE earlier that year after having been with TNA Wrestling since 2002. Sheamus says the two bonded after and that it was always a laugh when Truth was in the locker room.

“He’s got a contagious laugh that would just light up the room,” he added.

McAfee noted that many wrestlers return to WWE after being released. Sheamus responded that he’s confident Truth will be back at some point.

“It’s not the end. So many people, so many guys and girls, have left and come back. It’s not the end. Sometimes it’s a bit of a break. And there’s no way Truth’s not going to come back at some stage. I’m sure you’ll see him again.”

McAfee added that Truth could one day be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Sheamus’ full appearance on today’s Pat McAfee Show is available below:

Sheamus signs with Paradigm Talent Agency

Sheamus is the latest WWE wrestler to sign with Paradigm Talent Agency.

Deadline reported Wednesday that Sheamus (real name Stephen Farrelly) has joined the agency for representation.

Sheamus joins a growing list of WWE stars who have recently signed with Paradigm, including Alexa Bliss, Liv Morgan, Jade Cargill, Tiffany Stratton, Drew McIntyre, and CM Punk. The agency is one of the largest in Hollywood and also represents other WWE talent such as Natalya, Montez Ford, and Damian Priest.

The 47-year-old Irish wrestler has several non-wrestling acting credits on his resume.  He played Rocksteady in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (2016), appeared on an episode of NCIS: Los Angeles in 2023, and was cast as “Thirsty” in 2019’s Buddy Games. He also portrayed himself in Fighting with My Family (2019).

Additionally, Sheamus is a regular guest on The Pat McAfee Show and NBC’s Premier League coverage. He also runs his own YouTube series, Celtic Workouts, where he invites guests to train with him.

Sheamus on hard-hitting style: ‘This is who I am’

At nearly 50 years old, Sheamus has no plans to change up his in-ring style.

Sheamus will attempt to finally accomplish his goal of winning the Intercontinental title when he challenges Bron Breakker at Saturday Night’s Main Event this weekend. Ahead of the show, Sheamus discussed his wrestling style in an interview with Collider. Sheamus said he knows delivering hard-hitting matches is what has always defined him as a performer. He believes having those types of matches benefits both himself and his opponent, especially younger talent who might not be able to be as physical with other veterans.

“In the beginning of my career, I was always stiff, all the time. Stiff like in the ring, as in just the hard-ass wrestler. ‘You’ve got to learn to loosen up.’ Absolutely no. Why would I do that now? It’s like, this is who I am. This is what makes me, me,” he told Collider.

“I’m sure there are people who don’t want to get in there with me because they don’t like the physical aspect that I bring, but I don’t give a sh*t because if you want to go in there with me, come in there with me. A lot of young talent will want to get in there, and they’ll know when they’re going to have a Sheamus match — a banger of a Sheamus match to walk away — and the crowd will give them that much more respect.”

Though his strikes are stiff, Sheamus says he’s never been someone who takes liberties in the ring. He loves the physical aspect of wrestling more than anything else.

“The thing about me is I’ve never been a guy to take liberties. I will hit you. I will hit you hard. I’m not going to break noses and stuff, but I’ll hit you. But I expect to be hit back just as hard, if not harder, and they know that. They’re relaxed there, and they can do that, and they can show a side of themselves that they probably wouldn’t be able to show with certain other talent or more experienced or veteran talent like me, and that’s just the way I like it,” Sheamus said.

“I just love that physical aspect. That’s the most important thing for me. I’ll never be a high flyer. I’ve got a technical aspect that I learned from being in the UK and Ireland, and the rest of them, which is a lot of groundwork and basics. But the people know — the fans know — once my music hits, they’re going to get a banger. They’re gonna get a real fight, and that’s what I’m proud of.”

Sheamus, who recently signed a new five-year contract with WWE, is turning 47 years old next week. He has no imminent plans to retire and wants to wrestle until the wheels fall off.

San Antonio is the location for Saturday Night’s Main Event this weekend (January 25). If Sheamus defeats Breakker, it will begin the first Intercontinental title reign of his career.
