Hook had to deal with interference from The Learning Tree’s Bryan Keith and Big Bill throughout the match. His father Taz left the commentary table to put Keith in a Tazmission at ringside moments before Jericho tapped to Hook’s version of the move inside the ring.
As was the case on Dynamite in Cardiff on Wednesday, the live crowd cheered Big Bill throughout the match.
The most over person in Hook vs. Chris Jericho is Big Bill. Is that a referendum on this feud, or a testament to the awesomeness of Bill? A little bit of column A, a little bit of column B.
Jericho defeated Hook to win the title at AEW Dynasty in April. He successfully defended it against Katsuyori Shibata on the May 1 AEW Dynamite in his hometown of Winnipeg. Jericho also defended the title in a three-way against both Hook and Shibata at Double or Nothing in May.
Our live coverage of AEW All In at Wembley Stadium is available here.
The final entrant for the London Ladders match at All In will be decided in a wild card bout as part of this Saturday’s AEW Collision as PAC, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta will take on Top Flight (Dante & Darius Martin) & Lio Rush.
The winners will advance to Sunday’s four-way ladder match which includes reigning champions The Patriarchy, House of Black, and the Bang Bang Gang.
In more trios action, The Conglomeration (Orange Cassidy, Mark Briscoe & Kyle O’Reilly) will take on The Undisputed Kingdom (Roderick Strong, Mike Bennett & Matt Taven) as their feud continues.
In a bout originally slated for Dynamite, former FTW Champion Hook will face Big Bill.
Jeff Jarrett will wrestle in his first match in Cardiff since 2001 as he faces Ariya Daivari while Katsuyori Shibata battles Jarrett friend and stablemate Jay Lethal.
Willow Nightingale will take on Harley Cameron while her rival Kris Statlander will team with Stokely Hathaway in a mixed tag match against former WWE NXT UK wrestler Nina Samuels & Kid Lykos II.
Here’s the current lineup that was taped Wednesday in Cardiff following Dynamite:
PAC, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta vs. Top Flight (Dante & Darius Martin) and Lio Rush in a London Ladder match qualifier
The Conglomeration (Orange Cassidy, Mark Briscoe & Kyle O’Reilly) vs. Undisputed Kingdom (Roderick Strong, Mike Bennett & Matt Taven)
Jeff Jarrett vs. Ariya Daivari
Katsuyori Shibata vs. Jay Lethal
Hook vs. Big Bill
Willow Nightingale vs. Harley Cameron
Kris Statlander & Stokely Hathaway vs. Nina Samuels & Kid Lykos II
Two heated rivals will come face-to-face on the All In go-home edition of AEW Dynamite from Cardiff, Wales, as current American/International Champion MJF and All In challenger Will Ospreay will have a confrontation.
The two nearly came to blows last weekend at a RevPro show where MJF defeated Ospreay friend and former rival Michael Oku, followed by him threatening to deliver a Tiger Driver ’91 to Oku’s fiancee before Ospreay ran out to make the save.
Their All In clash will be a rematch from last month’s Dynamite 250 where MJF defeated Ospreay for the International title in a near-60 minute bout, later renaming it the American title.
Next week’s show will also see Hook return to in-ring action for the first time since July 3rd when he takes on Big Bill.
The match was made Wednesday after FTW Champion Chris Jericho granted Hook his request for a title match at All In with one of the caveats being that he face Bill in Cardiff.
The new additions join the previously announced AEW Continental title match between champion Kazuchika Okada and Claudio Castagnoli.
The event will emanate from Cardiff and the Utilita Arena for the first time ever.
Here’s the current lineup:
MJF & Will Ospreay face-to-face
Big Bill vs. Hook
AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada defends against Claudio Castagnoli
Former FTW Champion Hook will try to both gain revenge and his ceremonial title back at this month’s AEW All In as he faces current titleholder Chris Jericho.
Hook conducted an in-ring promo Wednesday on Dynamite where he said he couldn’t see out of the left eye Jericho burned with a backstage fireball. However, he said he could see out of his right eye and wanted to fight Jericho for the title tonight.
Jericho, Big Bill and Bryan Keith then came out and after Jericho pretended he was going to oblige, he declined instead. He then said he would honor the request at All In from London’s Wembley Stadium but with two stipulations that Hook agreed to:
If Jericho wins, Hook can never challenge for the title while he’s champion and his business with The Learning Tree is done.
He must face Big Bill on Dynamite next Wednesday in Cardiff, Wales.
"The Learning Tree" offers HOOK a match for the #FTW Championship at #AEWAllInLondon, but with some caveats…
Jericho defeated Hook for the title at April’s Dynasty and has defended it three times since then, including one time against both Hook and Katsuyori Shibata at May’s Double or Nothing.
Hereâs the current AEW All In card for Sunday, August 25 from Londonâs Wembley Stadium:
AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland defends against Bryan Danielson
AEW Womenâs World Champion Toni Storm defends against Mariah May
AEW American Champion MJF defends against Will Ospreay
TNT Champion Jack Perry defends against Darby Allin in a coffin match
TBS Champion Mercedes Mone defends against Britt Baker
Casino gauntlet match for future AEW World title shot
FTW Champion Chris Jericho defends against Hook
Zero Hour: Willow Nightingale & Tomohiro Ishii vs. Kris Statlander & Stokely Hathaway
A pair of new announcements have been made for this week’s AEW Dynamite episode.
Dynamite takes place live from Chartway Arena in Norfolk, Virginia this Wednesday. AEW has announced that we’ll hear from Hook on the episode. There will also be a video package on the show looking back at Bryan Danielson’s career ahead of his potential retirement at All In.
After an angle where Chris Jericho threw a fireball into his face this July, Hook returned on Dynamite last week looking for payback against Jericho and the rest of The Learning Tree. Hook signaled that he wants to win the FTW Championship back from Jericho. We’ll see if that match is made official for All In.
Danielson is challenging Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship at the Sunday, August 25 pay-per-view. If Danielson does not win, he will retire from in-ring competition. The video package on Wednesday’s Dynamite will be set to “Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)” by Green Day. In an interview with music publication Kerrang, Danielson named that as the song he would want played at his funeral.
The updated Dynamite lineup is listed below:
AEW Dynamite (Wednesday, August 14) —
Non-title match: AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland vs. Wheeler Yuta
AEW Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks defend against The Acclaimed
TBS Champion Mercedes Mone defends against Hikaru Shida
Hangman Page vs. Jay Lethal
Britt Baker appears
Claudio Castagnoli and Kazuchika Okada face-to-face
Orange Cassidy vs. Roderick Strong vs. Kyle O’Reilly (winner earns the number one spot in the All In Casino gauntlet match)
New allies Bryan Danielson & FTR will team up in trios action on this Saturday’s AEW Collision — one of six matches announced on Friday morning.
The three will take on The Righteous & Lance Archer as Danielson, Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood prepare for their Anarchy in the Arena match against The Elite at next Sunday’s Double or Nothing.
Former AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy will look to follow up with his win over Trent Beretta last week as he battles Isiah Kassidy.
The show will feature three FTW Contenders Series matches with the winners advancing to a three-way on this Wednesday’s Dynamite where the winner of that match will challenge Chris Jericho for the title, likely for Double or Nothing.
One will see Hook take on Johnny TV for the first time ever, another will feature Katsuyori Shibata vs. Rocky Romero with the other being Bryan Keith vs. Boulder.
In what should be a high-flying affair, Pacific Northwest product Nick Wayne will take on Jack Cartwheel.
Unified AEW Trios Champions The Bang Bang Gang (Jay White & The Gunns) will be on hand to share some thoughts.
Those join the previously announced Will Ospreay vs. Shayne Taylor, Deonna Purrazzo vs. Robyn Renegage, Serena Deeb vs. Anna Jay, and Rush matches.
Two title matches have been added to Sunday’s AEW Dynasty pay-per-view lineup.
As revealed during Wednesday night’s Dynamite, Hook will defend the FTW Championship against Chris Jericho at Dynasty. The match stems from weeks of a simmering feud between the two as Jericho wants to mentor Hook.
The issue boiled over on Dynamite as Jericho shoved Hook’s father Taz as Taz moderated a discussion between the two.
The other new title match for Dynasty will air on the Zero Hour pre-show on Sunday, as both the AEW World Trios Championship and the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship will be on the line in the same match.
ROH Six-Man Tag champs Jay White, Austin Gunn, & Colten Gunn will take on AEW Trios Champions Max Caster, Anthony Bowens, & Billy Gunn with both sets of titles on the line.
The updated card for Dynasty:
AEW Dynasty, Sunday, April 21, 8 p.m. Eastern time on pay-per-view —
AEW World Champion Samoa Joe defends against Swerve Strickland
AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm defends against Thunder Rosa
Ladder match for the vacant AEW Tag Team Championship: The Young Bucks vs. FTR
TBS Champion Julia Hart defends against Willow Nightingale
AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada defends against PAC
AEW International Champion Roderick Strong defends against Kyle O’Reilly
FTW Champion Hook defends against Chris Jericho
Bryan Danielson vs. Will Ospreay
Adam Copeland, Mark Briscoe & Eddie Kingston vs. Malakai Black, Brody King & Buddy Matthews
Zero Hour pre-show, 6:30 p.m. Eastern time on AEW’s YouTube & social media channels —
AEW Trios Champions Max Caster, Anthony Bowens & Billy Gunn vs. ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champions Jay White, Austin Gunn & Colten Gunn with both titles on the line
Two title matches and a title eliminator will make up tonight’s live AEW Battle of the Belts X following Collision from Highland Heights, Kentucky.
FTW Champion Hook will put his title on the line against Shane Taylor, extending a feud that started earlier this month in a traditional tag team match and then a trios match on Wednesday.
Hook has held the ceremonial title for 230 days with tonight being just the third defense of his second reign.
Ring of Honor Women’s Champion Athena will make her return to AEW TV for the first time since July 2023 as she defends against Red Velvet in their first-time ever meeting. A win will give her a 21st successful title defense while Velvet has never held an AEW or ROH title.
AEW International Champion Roderick Strong faces Rocky Romero in a title eliminator bout, meaning if Romero can win, he earns a future title shot.
**********
Battle of the Belts began the way Collision ended, with Bryan Danielson laid out on the ramp, courtesy of a Konosuke Takeshita brainbuster. Tony Schiavone & Matt Menard were on the call.
Hook & Katsuyori Shibata were backstage with Lexy Nair. Shibata offered his help through Google Translate, but Hook declined and said he would do it himself.
FTW Title Match â Hook defeated Shane Taylor to retain
A good David vs. Goliath match, with the crowd behind Hook the whole way.
Hook fired off with body shots, but couldnât get Taylor up for a suplex to start off. Schiavone noted that since the match was for the FTW Title, FTW Rules were in place. Hook hit a running knee off the apron and pummeled Taylor with punches on the floor. Back in the ring, Taylor caught Hook with a jab and body punches. Taylor laid in chops to Hook while talking trash, but Hook came back with body shots.
Taylor shrugged off another suplex attempt and hammered Hook with a liver shot. Taylor talked more trash as he dumped Hook on the ropes with a gourdbuster. After a commercial break, Taylor landed a leg drop on the apron before throwing more punches in the corner. Hook egged on Taylor to bring more shots, which Taylor obliged.
Taylor threatened to send Hook back to his father in a bodybag, but Hook evaded a corner splash and fired up with strikes. Hook finally got Taylor up and over with a German suplex before following with an Exploder for a nearfall. Taylor caught Hook with a uranage before landing a big splash for a nearfall. Hook ducked a pair of shots before locking on Redrum. Taylor rammed Hook into the corner and dropped to his back, but Hook kept the hold on and got the win.
Rocky Romero was backstage with Lexy Nair. He didnât know what was going on with the Best Friends but he couldnât focus on that tonight. He was going to get one step closer to gold with a win over Roderick Strong tonight. Kyle OâReilly came in and wished Romero luck tonight.
AEW International Title Eliminator Match â Roderick Strong (w/ The Kingdom & Wardlow) defeated Rocky Romero
Solid match, although it seemed like these two veterans were on different pages at certain times. The post-match is the important part, as Strong and the Kingdom turned on their former friend Kyle OâReilly to set up that International Title feud down the line.
Strong worked a cravate to start, with Romero fighting out by going after the arm. Strong booted Romero and went to send him to the floor, but Romero held onto the ropes and baited Strong to the floor. Romero hit a kick off of the apron as we went to a commercial.
Romero fired up with strikes after the commercial break, hitting Strong with a rewind kick. Taven went to cut off Romero, leading to Romero hitting him and Strong with dives. Romero hit a running Sliced Bread for a nearfall. Strong took some strikes in the corner before firing out of the corner with chops and a Sick Kick for a nearfall. Strong set up for a gutbuster, but Romero reversed into a DDT before hitting a satellite DDT for a nearfall.
Strong set Romero on the top rope, but Romero caught Strong with a top rope Sliced Bread for a nearfall. Romero went to the top rope, but Strong drilled him with a jumping knee out of the air to score the win. After the match, Kyle OâReilly congratulated Strong before helping Romero up to his feet. Wardlow drilled Romero with a lariat before the Kingdom laid the boots to him. OâReilly pulled them away from Romero, only for Strong to drill OâReilly with a knee. He shouted at OâReilly that he made the wrong choice of not joining up with the Kingdom.
We got a recap of Yuka Sakazakiâs return to AEW last week and Serena Deebâs interest in her post-match. Deeb was backstage with Lexy Nair, where she complimented Sakazaki and noted how she wanted to get in the ring with her. Deeb noted that sheâs undefeated and steadily climbing the rankings since she came back from injury, and officially invited Sakazaki into Deebâs Dojo.
ROH Women’s World Title Match â Athena (w/Billie Starkz) defeated Red Velvet to retain
This was a fine main event. Velvet continued to look good as an enhancement talent while Athena gets a spotlight win on TV. Aminata has gotten some spotlight on both Ring of Honor and AEW TV lately, plus she got screwed by Starkz for the TV Title at Supercard of Honor, so her stepping up to Athena makes sense for a logical next challenger.
Lexy Nair, who is associated with Athena on Ring of Honor TV, was the ring announcer for this match. Schiavone noted that this was under ROH rules, with the Code of Honor to start and a 20 count on the outside. Athena cartwheeled out of a headscissors, but Velvet booted her while she was celebrating.
Velvet hit a leg lariat as Tony Schiavone announced Roderick Strong vs. Kyle OâReilly for the International Championship at Dynasty. Athena and Velvet fought on the apron, where Athena dumped Velvet onto the turnbuckle before dropping her on the apron as we went to a commercial.
After the commercial, Velvet hammered Athena with knees to the back before hitting a Destino for a nearfall. Athena dumped Velvet into the corner as it was announced that next week will be another three-hour block of AEW, as Rampage will follow Collision next Saturday. These guys are really making me earn my keep around here, I tell you what. Athena hit a pair of front slams, but Velvet caught her with a roll-up on the third for a nearfall.
Athena countered a wheelbarrow with a slam for a nearfall. Velvet cut off an ascending Athena with a head kick before bringing her down with a wheelbarrow suplex. Velvet hit a hurricane kick and a satellite DDT for a nearfall. Velvet went to the top rope, but Athena rolled to the floor. Velvet dived onto Athena, who caught her with one arm and slammed her with a Falcon Arrow. Velvet fired up but Athena booted her down.
Athena grabbed Velvet by the hair and sent her into the LED boards on the apron. Velvet caught Athena with a roll-up, but Athena kicked out and laid out Velvet with a forearm. Athena went to the top rope and hit the O-Face to score the win.
After the match, Athena and Starkz beat down Velvet and went to hit her with the belt, but Queen Aminata came to make the save. She headbutted Starkz and hit an Air Raid Crash on Athena to run them off.
An FTW title match has been added to Battle of the Belts X, part of Saturday’s three-hour block of AEW programming on TNT.
As announced in a social media post by AEW’s Tony Khan, Hook will defend the FTW title against Shane Taylor at Battle of the Belts X on Saturday, April 13.
Hook & Chris Jericho are embroiled in a feud with Taylor’s Shane Taylor Promotions, including a trios match on this week’s Dynamite where Taylor, Anthony Ogogo & Lee Moriarty defeated Hook, Jericho & Katsuyori Shibata.
An International title eliminator match has already been announced for Battle of the Belts, with International Champion Roderick Strong taking on Rocky Romero.
The updated cards for AEW’s Saturday block:
AEW Collision, Saturday, April 13, 8 p.m. Eastern time —
AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm vs. AZM in a title eliminator match
Chris Jericho and Hook’s storyline will continue on Saturday’s AEW Collision as the pair team up for a tag match.
After Jericho called Hook out for a discussion on Wednesday’s Dynamite, the two agreed to team up on this week’s Collision episode.
In a backstage promo segment later on Dynamite, Shane Taylor & Lee Moriarty of Shane Taylor Enterprises responded by accepting the match against Jericho & Hook.
In another new match set for Saturday’s episode, Penta El Zero Miedo will tune up for his TNT title shot with a bout against Komander. Penta will challenge Adam Copeland for the TNT Championship on the Wednesday, April 10 Dynamite.
Already set for Saturday’s show is a Tag Team title tournament semifinals match between FTR & Top Flight, with the winners advancing to face The Young Bucks for the vacant AEW Tag Team Championship in the finals at Dynasty.
Saturday’s Collision will air at a special start time of 11:30 p.m. Eastern time on TNT.
The lineup for the show, which is being taped Wednesday night:
AEW Tag Team title tournament semifinals: FTR vs. Top Flight
Chris Jericho & Hook vs. Shane Taylor & Lee Moriarty
Chris Jericho believes that, contrary to what some might think, he’s been able to consistently help elevate AEW’s younger talent.
During an appearance on Gabby AF, Jericho discussed working with Hook in AEW. Jericho said that, since day one, his mission in AEW has been to help elevate the younger guys. Jericho thinks he’s usually been successful at that goal. Jericho pointed to Orange Cassidy, Darby Allin, MJF, Powerhouse Hobbs, Konosuke Takeshita, and Daniel Garcia as some of the people who are now bigger stars than they were before they worked with him.
The idea of working with Hook was something that I had thought about for a while. And it just kind of really seemed to fit with the match that we had at Revolution with the eight-man scramble and Hook was in that and I thought, ‘Well letâs do something with this.’ And the storyâs just beginning. But I think we got some good ideas and some good stuff going on.
Thatâs kind of what my mission in AEW has been since day one is to do the best I can to elevate the younger guys. And in contrary to popular belief or what you might see, it usually works. Most of the time when people work with me, they end up on a higher platform than they were prior. If you look at Orange Cassidy to Darby Allin to MJF to, you know, Hobbs and Takeshita and all those guys. The list goes on and on and on. Even the guys in The Inner Circle and the guys in the Jericho Appreciation Society. I mean, look at Danny Garcia now compared to where he was a year ago.
So I think Hook is another guy that weâve done a lot with, I think we can do some more with and add some depth to him and give him a little bit more experience. Because youâre only as good as the guys that youâre in the ring with. And if you look at Hook vs. Samoa Joe, I think thatâs probably the best match heâs ever had because Joe has such experience. I think with the experience that I have and then, you know, working with Hook and his personaâs so unique and I think heâs lightning in a bottle — something that we can really get to the next level. And thatâs kind of what my idea is for this story.
Jericho & Hook have recently formed a tag team in AEW. In addition to teaming together, a Jericho vs. Hook singles match will take place on Dynamite next Wednesday (March 20). Jericho proposed the match after he and Hook defeated The Gates of Agony (Toa Liona & Bishop Kaun) at AEW Big Business.
After weeks of altercations, Coldhearted Handsome Devil HOOK defends the FTW Title vs former champ "The Machine" Brian Cage on TBS TONIGHT! pic.twitter.com/M9u3nUreRU
Hook is in his second run with the title and will be looking for his ninth combined defense. He lost the belt to Jack Perry at Blood & Guts 2023 but won it back at All In the following month.
Cage was the champion for 377 days from July 2020 to July 2021, although he only successfully defended the title twice in his reign.
Tonight’s Dynamite takes place at the Gas South Arena in Duluth, Georgia. A new set and stage will debut on the show and The Young Bucks are advertised to have a huge announcement.
A trios match with Revolution implications takes place on AEW Dynamite.
World Champion Samoa Joe teams with Swerve Strickland & Brian Cage against Hangman Page, Hook & Rob Van Dam in a six-man tag team bout on tonight’s episode. Joe is set to defend the World title against Strickland & Page in a three-way at the Revolution pay-per-view on Sunday, March 3.
Blackpool Combat Club will square off with FTR in tag team action on the show as well, as BCC’s Jon Moxley & Claudio Castagnoli face FTR’s Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler. Moxley defeated Harwood on last week’s Dynamite as a feud between the two teams heats up as they look to climb the tag team rankings.
Both participants in the Women’s World title match at Revolution will also be in singles competition on tonight’s episode. Women’s World Champion “Timeless” Toni Storm will be in action, as will her Revolution challenger Deonna Purrazzo.
AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone and Taz as they go to the entrances for the opening contest of the evening.
FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) vs. Jon Moxley & Claudio Castagnoli went to a 20 Minute Time Limit
(To be perfectly honest, I wasnât paying attention to the announced 20 Minute Time Limit at the start of the match, so I was caught completely by surprised when I heard Justin Roberts announce 5 minutes remaining at one point. While it might not be ideal to do another time limit draw after Swerve Strickland & Hangman Page a few weeks ago, to get this rematch to happen at Revolution, the finish made complete sense. These two beat the hell out of each other, the crowd were into it and should be even better in a few weeks.)
Quick tags from both teams in the early going, as after Moxley & Wheeler started quick, it was Wheeler who wasnât backing down with Castagnoli during an uppercut exchange. After suffering a double team, Moxley regrouped outside and came in trading brutal head butts with Wheeler. Harwood flew off the top for a double cross body, as Castagnoli & Moxley opted to take the fight to the floor. Harwood took the bullet, shoving Wheeler out of the way from a Moxley Tope, but Wheeler retaliated, sending Moxley into the steps. Back inside, Moxley again was double teamed in the corner, as FTR heeled it up with the assisted abdominal stretch spot, getting caught immediately by the ref. After eating a double slingshot throat first under the bottom rope, Moxley exploded out of the corner with a lariat. Castagnoli ran wild briefly and delivered a double back suplex. Harwood went after Moxley on the floor, but ultimately suffered a stuff piledriver with Castagnoli leaping off the apron, taking things to picture in picture.
Harwood was controlled during the entire break, but broke free from Castagnoliâs clutches and Wheeler & Moxley made the tag, with Wheeler a house of fire. Wheeler spun out of a Paradigm Shift into a brainbuster for two as weâre given a 5 minute call from Justin Roberts. Castagnoli saved his partner from a Shatter Machine, but Moxley missed a blind tag from Harwood and was dropped with an assisted powerbomb for two. FTR wanted the Power-Plex, but Castagnoli uppercut Wheeler out of the corner. Harwood avoided a Doomsday Device, posted Castagnoli and hit his part of the Power-Plex, but Moxley got his knees up on a diving Wheeler. Castagnoli immediately did a Giant Swing on Harwood, with Moxley doing the Tyson Kidd special, dropkicking him mid revolution. Anvil elbows from Moxley, who switched to a Bulldog Choke, as Castagnoli locked a choke in on Wheeler, who just fell back onto Moxley, with everyone down with 2 minutes remaining.
Harwood & Moxley slugged it out before Harwood got the Sharpshooter locked in. Castagnoli followed suit by applying one to Wheeler, as Castagnoli & Harwood had a slap battle with both submissions applied. They both let go as Harwood planted Castagnoli with a piledriver, but Moxley nearly stole a pin off a crucifix for two. Moxley was sent off the ropes and was about to suffer Shatter Machine when the bell sounded and the time limit expired. Both teams continued to slug it out with officials, security and other wrestlers running down to break it up, having little success.
-Renee Paquette is backstage with Orange Cassidy and runs down the recent history between Best Friends and The Kingdom, along with Cassidyâs matches along the way, including last weeks Texas Death Match. She turns to the doctor, who said unfortunately or fortunately, Cassidy has met minimal medical clearance, so heâs cleared. Paquette said thatâs insane, but the doctor said what can he do, Cassidy is minimally cleared. With Trent Beretta apparently not cleared, Cassidy said he’ll take his match with Mike Bennett tonight.
**********
-We see footage of the Rev Pro show this weekend with Orange Cassidy popping up as a surprise to defend his International Title in a 7 Way match.
-Alex Marvez is backstage with FTR, who said they were 10 more seconds away from winning that match with the BCC. Harwood was about to lay out the challenge for Revolution when Castagnoli Moxley came in, held back by officials, as they argued before anything could officially be set for the Pay Per View.
AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy defeated Mike Bennett (w/Matt Taven)
(With Cassidy taking out Taven last week, it makes sense for Bennett to be next on his revenge tour on his way to Roderick Strong at Revolution. I know Jake Hager is from Oklahoma, but I donât know why he saved Cassidy here, as theyâve never had any friendship. We were told afterwards that Hager is wrestling Strong on Friday, so I guess thatâs all the reason we need.)
Commentary talked about how the Undisputed Kingdom laid out Chuck Taylor & Rocky Romero, while Trent Beretta wasnât cleared after the ending of the main event last week, leaving Cassidy flying solo. Cassidy charged up the ramp, ducked a Bennett belt shot attempt and leveled Taven with a Superman Punch. The match officially began in the ring, with Bennett quickly taking over on offense, but Cassidy hit a Stundog Millionaire and spinning DDT. Roderick Strong hit the ring and distracted the ref long enough for Bennett to punch Cassidy low and hit a piledriver for two.
Bennett controlled the entire commercial break and took a headset from commentary to run down Cassidy. All this did was allow Cassidy to recover and hit multiple dives. Bennett responded with a spinebuster on the apron and Death Valley Driver on the floor. Back inside, Bennett took too long to follow up, as Cassidy exploded out with a desperation Orange Punch. Bennett fought off Beach Break and hit a Gotch Style Piledriver for a close near fall. Multiple roaring elbows dropped Cassidy, who countered a third piledriver attempt into Beach Break out of nowhere for the win.
Right as the bell sounded, Matt Taven hit the ring with Roderick Strong, who was going to hit a knee when Oklahomaâs Jake Hager ran out to make the save and clear the ring. The crowd popped loud for their hometown Hager, who weâre told will face Roderick Strong this week on Rampage.
-Renee Paquette is backstage with Angelo Parker, asking him about his date tonight with Ruby Soho. Parker said heâs excited when Soho walked in wearing a dress, as Parker asked if sheâs ready to go as a car pulls up and Soho asks if thatâs for them. Parker said no, as they have a Lyft. They leave and we see Ric Flair getting out of the car.
**********
-Renee Paquette is backstage with Ric Flair and asks about Stingâs final match at Revolution. Flair said he doesnât care who likes it, he felt upset heâs not a bigger part of things. Flair isnât upset at Sting, but disappointed he hasnât been around for three or four weeks, so heâs going to explore some options. Flair walks away before knocking on The Young Bucks locker room, asking if they have time to talk. They welcome him in, but close the door on the camera.
Christian Cage Makes Things Personal With Daniel Garcia
Tony Schiavone welcomes Daniel Garcia to the ring and talks about what happened last week, with Adam Copeland being unable to compete after Christian Cageâs attack. Schiavone informs Garcia that he will receive a TNT Title match against Cage at Revolution and got You Deserve It chants from the crowd. Garcia thanked the crowd and said a few months ago, he was at his lowest on his losing streak, but at the end of the Continental Classic, all he needed as three seconds and winning his final match changed his life. Every time he got down on himself, the fans picked him up and Garcia thanks them restoring his confidence. Garcia said he was about to make Copeland tap out last week and promises that wasnât the last time theyâll see one another. Garcia has a message for Christian Cage, whose music hit immediately, as the entire Patriarchy came to the stage.
Cage said Adam Copeland will never have another shot at the TNT Title and the only reason Garcia was in harmâs way last week was because of Copeland. Cage said he doesnât believe he should wrestle Garcia at Revolution, as Garcia isnât ready. Cage said Garciaâs constant distractions like dancing and catering to the fans is what will keep him from being great. Cage said he knows about Garciaâs dark childhood and brings up Jackie Garcia from Buffalo, who was married to David Garcia, Danielâs father, who is dead. Cage said itâd be a fairytale ending for Garcia to win the TNT Title in tribute to his father, but they both know his father was a piece of crap, loser alcoholic. Unlike his father, Cage doesnât want to hurt Garcia; he wants him to realize his full potential. Cage doesnât want to be Garciaâs opponent; he wants to be his father. Garcia said if Cage mentions his mother again and since Cage likes to bring up his father, come to the ring and heâll put Cage in the ground right next to him.
Cage nodded to Nick Wayne, who hit the ring and was immediately put in the Dragon Tamer. Killswitch was next, who came to the ring, but was leveled from behind by a Matt Menard chair shot. Menard & Garcia stood tall in the ring with chairs, as Cage said he doesnât want to hurt Garcia, he just wants to guide him.
-Renee Paquette is backstage with Hangman Adam Page, Rob Van Dam & HOOK and asks about the main event tonight. Page said tonight is full of opportunities, as HOOK can get revenge on Brian Cage and RVD can get revenge on Swerve Strickland, who had he beaten a few weeks ago, we wouldnât have been in the situation theyâre in to begin with. RVD said he wasnât happy about it and asked if Prince Nana was even there, as he heard Nana might have something he’s interested in (implying weed, which Page said months ago he’d beat Nana up and take). A frustrated Page cut him off and stormed out.
Storm is now being introduced as hailing from Stage 7 at Warner Studios, as she rushed Winnell at the bell. Winnell got off a few strikes, but Storm met her with a Thesz Press and punches in bunches. Storm connected on a corner splash and running bulldog, as Sweet Cheek Music and Storm Zero followed. Storm applied the ankle lock she called Break a Leg before applying a Venus De Milo for the submission, taking a page out of Deonna Purrazzoâs playbook.
As Storm was helped out of the ring by Luther, Purrazzoâs entrance hit and itâs time for her match, stealing the spotlight from Storm, who just ran to the back, I think to get out of the camera shot before Madison Rayneâs entrance. Taz covered this up by saying Storm was visibly upset.
Deonna Purrazzo defeated Madison Rayne
(This was Rayneâs first match in AEW in little over a year, as commentary talked about how she was Purrazzoâs mentor. This was the match that mostly took place during commercial, but what we did see felt very slow. I really hope Rayne is ok after taking such a scary bump on her head, a bump, for some reason, was replayed as part of a Turbo Tax sponsorship post match.)
Some early mat wrestling to start things off, with Rayne the first to start throwing punches after hitting a leg trip. Purrazzo did a misdirect leg sweep, sending Rayne to the floor, where she met her with a baseball slide that took us to commercial. Rayne took control during break, but a double clothesline led to the reset. Purrazzo fired up with a series of offense, hitting a Side Russian Leg Sweep until a slow forearm exchange led to Purrazzo trying a Flatliner, but Rayne rotated and landed right on her head violently. The ref checked on Rayne, as the doctor was right there ringside, but Paul Turner said she was ok and Purrazzo quickly put on Toni Stormâs ankle lock, Break a Leg, to get the quick tap. Toni Storm hit the ring post match with a shoe, but ate a pump kick by Purazzo. Luther ran distraction long enough for Storm to attack from behind and clamp on the Break a Leg. Storm let the hold go and applied a crazy amount of lipstick before staring down with Purrazzo. The black and white and color they used for the same shot between both ladies was pretty cool visually.
-We hear comments from Darby Allin & Sting, as Allin said material objects we chase we think define us, donât mean a thing. Allin shows some photos of Stingâs sons with their dad at the same age The Young Bucks children are right now. Allin said the only thing that matters in the end, is family. Sting walked into the shot and agreed, saying in all his years in wrestling, no one has ever messed with his family until The Bucks. Sting said a lot has been going on over the last week for his family, including losing his father, which makes him think about his own mortality. Sting used to think he was invincible, but time catches up to everyone, catching up with himself for sure. Sting realizes heâs not invincible, but realizes everything he has left in him, heâs bringing to Revolution. The Bucks have a fight on their hands, the fight of their lives. This was a brief but fantastic promo by the Stinger.

-Tony Schiavone introduces Wardlow to the ring, as he walks out pissed off and told Schiavone to get out of the ring before he knocks him on his old ass again. Wardlow said two years ago, thousands of people were chanting his name in a matter that hasnât been heard or seen in decades. Apparently the rocket strapped to his back was put on upside down, as heâs been screwed time after time again. Wardlow said youâd think the one home grown mega start wouldâve been champion a long time ago, but heâs never received a World Title shot, something people in the back should be thrown in jail for. Wardlow brought up the âBest in the Worldâ and âReal World Championâ whose body is still falling apart because of him. Wardlow brought up how he squashed MJF like no one else has. Finally, Wardlow mentions choking Samoa Joe out and how suits and shiny titles look better on him than Joe. Wardlow said heâs the uncrowned king of AEW and itâs time he starts eating like one, as heâs everything a World Champion is supposed to be. If anyone wants to get in his way, this is no longer wrestling, thisâŚisâŚWar.
-We hear post match comments from the Bang Bang Scissor Gang following their 12 Man Tag victory on Rampage last week. Daddy Ass apologizes running into Switchblade Jay White during the match, as White said itâs fine and suggest he, Austin Gunn & Daddy Ass are the Collision Cowboys this Saturday. Anthony Bowens said it doesnât matter the combo, everyone loves The Acclaimed, Bang Bang.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with the Don Callis Family, asking Callis if heâs given any more thoughts on how the match between Will Ospreay & Konosuke Takeshita will affect the Family after Revolution. Callis said itâll help them big time, as win or lose, the best wrestlers in the world will still be part of the Family. Callis is on his way to the UK to pick up Ospreay himself to bring him to Revolution. Callis called Sammy Guevara a fly in the ointment and a little cuck who Meat Madness Powerhouse Hobbs and himself will deal with on Rampage.
AEW World Champion Samoa Joe, Swerve Strickland & Brian Cage (w/Prince Nana) defeated Hangman Adam Page, FTW Champion HOOK & Rob Van Dam
(This was quite the party match main event, with multiple commercial breaks and a whole heck of a lot of chaotic action throughout. With RVD involved, you knew if anyone was eating a pin or submission, itâd be him, as Joe standing tall when all was said and done made the most sense. Despite playing the heel in recent weeks, Page was cheered here quite a bit.)
HOOK wanted to start against Joe, who slammed HOOK down multiple times, bringing a smile to Joe as a result. HOOK switched to body shots and a flying clothesline that took Joe down, as Joe turned the table in the corner with body strikes of his own before tagging in Cage. HOOK escaped and made a tag to RVD, who had a quick sequence with Cage, who showed off his strength, leading to a double team with Strickland. After a series of switches, Page made the blind tag and came face to face with Strickland after RVD side stepped a Flatliner attempt. Before things got physical, HOOK & Cage pulled their teammates back for some reason, as Cage & Page remained during commercial.
Back from break, it was HOOK held up in a Cage delayed vertical suplex for two. Cage wanted a Death Valley Driver, but HOOK countered enough into a DDT, leading to a RVD hot tag, angering Page that he didnât get it. RVD ran wild, hitting Rolling Thunder on Strickland and Five Star Frog Splash on Cage for two. Joe argued with referee Aubrey, as Strickland blindsided Page on the apron with a running boot. Fast tags made by Joeâs team, as they head to another commercial.
RVD was isolated the entire break before Joe missed a charge and RVD hit a spin kick into the double down. Page & Cage made the double tag, as Page sprinted right at Strickland to get his revenge before dropping Cage with a hurricanrana. Strickland side stepped a slingshot dive, but Page hit a pump kick to counter a Strickland rolling Flatliner. Back inside, Page dropped Cage with a Death Valley Driver, but Joe was there to clobber him with a running boot. The match broke down with everyone hitting a high impact move leaving Page to choose between a Buckshot on Cage or Moonsault on Strickland and he chose Strickland, as Cage cut him off before the move could happen. HOOK was there and we got a Tower of Doom spot. HOOK sank in REDRUM on Cage, who made a blind tag to Joe. HOOK ate a pop up powerbomb by Cage and a brutal House Call from Strickland, as Page flew in with a Buckshot on Cage.
Joe, Strickland & Page were left alone in the ring, as the Revolution graphic showed at the bottom of the screen. Strickland & Joe took out Page, who rolled to the floor and Joe hit a Tope. Strickland went for a pump kick off the apron, but missed Page and took out Joe. Page then powerbombed Strickland off the apron through the announce table. Joe ducked a Buckshot back inside and hit a snap powerslam for two, as RVD took out Cage with a slingshot splash and made the tag. Joe was waiting, but didnât see HOOK waiting and ate an Exploder. RVD went up for the Five Star, but Cage shoved him off and wiped out HOOK with a discus lariat. Joe sank on the Coquina Clutch, as RVD faded and passed out.
Joe held up the AEW Title, as Strickland looked on with Nana, while Page kept telling the camera man not to shoot him, as he was holding his ankle. Hopefully Page isnât legit injured.
