Hologram return vignette airs on AEW Collision

Hologram is on the comeback trail.

During Saturday’s AEW Collision, a vignette aired to begin the promotional push toward the return of the masked fan favorite luchador who has been on the sidelines since last October due to both an ankle injury and the birth of a child.

No official date was announced for his return. An injury angle was shot on the October 19th Collision to write him off TV which featured LFI attacking him backstage.

Similar to his intro vignettes, the brief segment featured various computer coding with Hologram’s name included. Whether or not this is indicative of any type of changes for the Hologram character remains to be seen.

A pet project of AEW head Tony Khan, Hologram made his AEW debut in a series of vignettes in July 2024 before the wrestler formerly known as Aramis ultimately debuted with a win over Gringo Loco on Collision that same month.

Hologram suffered injury at AEW WrestleDream

Hologram (AKA Aramis) is injured.

GALLI Lucha Libre announced today that the 25-year-old will miss their show on Sunday.

“Aramis has bad news for the GALLI audience! For medical reasons, Aramis will not be able to wrestle this Sunday, October 27th!” A translation of the promotion’s statement on Facebook reads.

Luchablog wrote, “GALLI posted a video from Aramis, who announced he’s off their show Sunday due to injury. He’s sidelined a few weeks.”

“In related news, Hologram got hurt near the end of the PPV match with Mortos, might not return until after Full Gear, that bit on Saturday with LFI was them explaining why he was gone, I guess I’m the one reporting this.”

At AEW Battle of the Belts on Saturday, Hologram was seen being attacked by The Beast Mortos in a backstage segment. Rush and Dralistico were cutting a promo when the camera panned back to reveal Mortos attempting to remove Hologram’s mask.

Hologram hasn’t wrestled since his match against Beast Mortos at AEW WrestleDream. Since debuting as the character, he is undefeated in the promotion.

A new match has been added to the lineup for Saturday’s AEW WrestleDream.

Mortos, along with Rush and Dralistico, attacked Hologram on AEW Dynamite last night following his win over Komander. This new version of LFI appears to be managed by Jake Roberts after a talent exchange with Don Callis.

Guevara, Hologram, and Dustin Rhodes have formed a trios team as of late in AEW. They defeated The Dark Order’s John Silver, Alex Reynolds, and Evil Uno on Rampage on Friday. Then last night on Collision, they defeated the team of Ariya Daivari, Josh Woods, and Tony Nese.

With today’s win, Hologram is now a perfect 10-0 in AEW.

AEW promoting lucha libre match prior to Jacksonville Jaguars NFL home opener

Tony Khan is fusing two of his primary jobs — AEW and the NFL — together this Sunday.

Ahead of his Jacksonville Jaguars’ home opener, there will be a two-out-of-three falls lucha libre tag team match held at Flex Field, the NFL team’s indoor practice area that is part of the Khan family’s complex that includes Daily’s Place and EverBank Stadium where the Jaguars play.

The match will be held in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month and will feature Ring of Honor Tag Team Champion Sammy Guevara teaming with Hologram against The Beast Mortos and Matt Taven.

It’s unknown if AEW will release the footage of the match on YouTube and their social media channels. The bout is the only one announced as of this time.

It will take place from 11:30 AM to noon Eastern with the kickoff for the actual game starting at 1 PM.

The franchise has been owned by Shad Khan, Tony’s father, since 2012. This will be Tony’s 13th year with the team and his fourth as chief football strategy officer.

Swerve Strickland World title eliminator one of several additions to AEW Collision

AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland will prepare for his non-title match against Wheeler Yuta on Wednesday’s Dynamite with a title eliminator match on Saturday’s AEW Collision.

The news was revealed during Friday’s Rampage and the match is of the open challenge variety with an opponent yet to be named.

After stepping in for Mark Briscoe and Tomohiro Ishii on this past Wednesday’s Dynamite, former AEW Tag Team Champions FTR will take on The Outrunners. FTR and The Acclaimed came face-to-face on Wednesday as both try to position themselves for a shot at current champions The Young Bucks.

In an unusual pairing, Darby Allin will team with Hologram to take on The Varsity Athletes’ Josh Woods & Tony Nese. The Athletes were unable to defeat Hologram & Mistico last week.

In a battle of former LFI stablemates, Rush will go one-on-one with Preston Vance. It’s Vance’s first match anywhere since January.

Former AEW Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida will be in action.

Here’s the current card for Saturday’s live show in Arlington, Texas:

  • AEW World title eliminator: Swerve Strickland vs. TBA
  • FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) vs. The Outrunners (Turbo Floyd & Truth Magnum)
  • Darby Allin & Hologram vs. Varsity Athletes (Josh Woods & Tony Nese)
  • AEW Trios title eliminator: House of Black (Malakai Black, Brody King & Buddy Matthews) vs. Bang Bang Gang (Juice Robinson & The Gunns) with Christian Cage as special guest referee

Three-way Continental title eliminator part of AEW Collision lineup

The next challenger for AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada will be determined in a three-way on Saturday’s AEW Collision that starts at a special time of 5 PM Eastern.

In a clash of styles, Claudio Castagnoli will take on Tomohiro Ishii and new ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty with the winner to take on Okada at a date to be announced, possibly at this month’s All In from London’s Wembley Stadium.

Here’s a look at the rest of the card:

CMLL star Mistico and budding AEW lucha star Hologram will team up against Ari Daivari & Tony Nese of the Premier Athletes. It’s Mistico’s first AEW appearance since June’s Forbidden Door while it will be the third straight week of Collision action for Hologram.

Ahead of his challenge of MJF on this Wednesday’s Dynamite, former ROH men’s TV Champion Kyle Fletcher will go one-on-one with Brian Cage.

As she prepares to defend her title against Mariah May at All In, AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm will be in non-title action against an opponent to be named.

Thunder Rosa will look to get some momentum following her recent losses to Deonna Purrazzo as she battles Taya Valkyrie.

The show will also feature appearances by both the AEW Trios Champions The Patriarchy and ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champions The Von Erichs & Dustin Rhodes.

The new additions join the previously announced eight-man tag team match between FTR, Darby Allin & Mark Briscoe vs. The Beast Mortos & The Undisputed Kingdom.

Identity of AEW wrestler in recent mystery vignette revealed

Less than a week after a mystery vignette first aired on AEW Collision teasing the appearance of a new masked wrestler, the question of who the man behind the mask is has already been revealed.

Bodyslam.net first reported Wednesday that the wrestler is former AAA wrestler Aramis, later confirmed by Luchablog.

The BodySlam report stated the deal was struck over the last few weeks when the luchadore and AAA were unable to come to terms on a new deal. A start date is unknown or if he will officially work under the name Hologram which was referenced in the vignette (“Holo.grm”).

The 25-year-old has never worked in either AEW or Ring of Honor in the past. He did have a nine-match stateside run in MLW in 2021 and 2022.

On Wednesday, AEW head Tony Khan attempted to temper expectations when asked about the vignette, saying the man behind the mask was someone he is “excited for but it’s not necessarily teasing the biggest free agent signing or anything like that.”
