AEW Dynamite Winter is Coming live results: World title match

The AEW World Championship is on the line tonight in Georgia on the special Winter is Coming episode of Dynamite.

Samoa Joe defends the AEW World title against Eddie Kingston. It’s the first defense for Joe since defeating Hangman Page in a steel cage match at Full Gear last month to kick off his second reign as AEW World Champion. This will be Kingston’s first shot at the AEW title since challenging Jon Moxley for the belt at Full Gear in November 2020.

The inaugural AEW Women’s Tag Team Champions will be crowned on tonight’s show, with Timeless Love Bombs Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa facing Babes of Wrath Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron in the tournament finals.

Hangman Page and Swerve Strickland team up to face Katsuyori Shibata and Powerhouse Hobbs of The Opps in a tornado tag match.

A pair of Gold League Continental Classic matches will also take place tonight, with Kyle Fletcher vs. Mike Bailey, plus Kazuchika Okada vs. Jack Perry. Perry is substituting for Darby Allin after Allin was medically disqualified from continuing on in the tournament.

AEW Dynamite: Winter is Coming comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone & Bryan Danielson before running down tonight’s card.

The Timeless Love Bombs (Timeless Toni Storm & Mina Shirakawa) vs. Babes of Wrath (Willow Nightingale & Harley Cameron) in the AEW Women’s Tag Team Title Tournament Finals

(I thought this was an excellent Final of the tournament with both teams looking very good throughout and the crowd was 50/50 all the way through. It is a pretty great full circle moment for The Babes of Wrath, as Cameron’s AEW debut on Dark a few years ago was against Nightingale and cut to now, they’re inaugural Tag Team Champions. I’m not sure where Storm & Shirakawa go from here, whether they remain a duo or go back out as singles, but I feared they were going to go heel in the post-match, which thankfully didn’t happen nor should it, as Storm especially is one of the most over babyfaces in the company.)

After last week’s Holiday Death Match, Excalibur questions if the Love Bombs are 100% heading into the Finals. Cameron & Shirakawa kick things off trading early takedowns and counters until Shirakawa did a little shimmy and pose. Cameron posted up in the corner and forced Shirakawa to motorboat her. Excalibur told Schiavone that’s something Danielson did to him in Detroit about 20 years ago. Nightingale & Storm tagged in, with the crowd loudly giving dueling chants as both ladies slugged it out with forearms. Cameron & Shirakawa try to intervene and start throwing bombs as well, until The Love Bombs get knocked outside. Cameron lined her opponents up, allowing Nightingale to hit a cannonball off the apron. Back inside, Cameron worked over Storm until she was saved by Shirakawa. Storm delivered a back breaker and made quick tags, keeping Cameron isolated with a spinning assisted body press for two. Cameron ducked a standing switch with a back suplex for the Nightingale hot tag. Lariats and chops aplenty dished out, until she ran through a double clothesline with one of her own before Pouncing Storm to the floor heading to break.

Shirakawa was worked over during commercial, until a spinning DDT on Nightingale created space enough for Storm to tag in and run wild. Cameron was spiked with a DDT of her own and signaled for the TCM Chicken Wing, but Nightingale made the save. Shirakawa fought off both ladies, getting Figure Four on Cameron while DDT’ing Nightingale. Figure Four proper applied, but Storm & Nightingale took turns turning their opponent over, so Nightingale attempted an Indian Death Lock leaving all four women to slug it out until everyone broke free. Everyone up firing off overhand chops and headbutts leading to a quadruple down. Storm sent Nightingale to the floor and helped Shirakawa get a Sling Blade out of the corner on Cameron. Storm Zero planted Cameron, but Nightingale broke the count and hit an overhead suplex on Storm on the floor. Cameron & Shirakawa traded forearms, as Shirakawa hit a few rolling elbows and spinning backfist. Shirakawa wanted a Glamourous Driver MINA, Cameron floated through with Her Finishing Move, as she tagged Nightingale, who hit a Doctor Bomb to get the pin and win the titles.

Post-match, Renee Paquette came to the ring to congratulate the new champions, as Nightingale said it was a hard fight, Cameron’s mouth is all bloodied up, but she’s proud of her. Nightingale said this year has been rough not knowing who has her back, but Cameron has through it all. Cameron talked about wrestling Nightingale in her second ever match a few years ago. Crowd chanted Babes of Wrath as they got pyro while Storm & Shirakawa consoled each other until facing off with the new champs, offering a handshake and hug.

Match Result: The Babes of Wrath defeated The Timeless Love Bombs to win the AEW Women’s Tag Team Titles when Nightingale pinned Shirakawa

-The Opps are backstage where Samoa Joe congratulated Eddie Kingston for his time finally coming. You wanted the real Samoa Joe, the crusader of the independents, not realizing that man has been standing in front of Kingston all along. Joe is ruthless by design and doesn’t care about men like Kingston, who are in his way from what he has. The man Kingston looked up to was a wonderful idea, but the one who will kick his ass tonight, is the man who will show him the reality of what this industry is.

-Death Riders are in a stairwell where Jon Moxley talking about his back is against the wall in the Continental Classic with time running out. It Moxley has proved anything is that if there’s sand in the hourglass, he can still score, so count him out. If you need circumstances to be ideal and try, maybe you just suck. Moxley has to try for the rest of the Death Riders, as they are the hungriest group in pro wrestling, chasing the dragon every day. Daniel Garcia said every day they wake up, they choose to win, if you don’t try, you don’t deserve to win.

Kazuchika Okada (3) vs. Jungle Jack Perry (0) in a Continental Classic Gold League Match

(Very fun first-time meeting between these two, as Perry tried his hardest, but it was not meant to be, as Okada remains on another level. I like the choice of Perry replacing Darby Allin, as we’re in for some good singles matches for Perry, who I’m glad is getting more ring time outside of just tag work.)

Renee Paquette was ringside pre-match and talked about Perry being at a disadvantage in his C2 debut replacing Darby Allin and brings up facing the greatest tournament wrestler of all time, while not competing in a singles match in over a year. I liked that little snippet from Paquette prior to this match and hope they do that more often going forward. Don Callis joined the commentary crew, as Perry exploded out at the bell, sending Okada outside with a hurricanrana and follow-up dive. Okada tried a charge, but Perry hit a nice dropkick to regain control. Back inside, Perry connected with a flying clothesline off the top for two, as Callis said his Family loves twenty-something athletes, which Perry certainly is. Perry delivered corner punches, but opted to flip off Okada, who slid out and dropkicked Perry to the floor, where he’s clutching his ankle after colliding with a ringside attendant in the process. Okada sent Perry over the barricade and followed with a draping DDT heading to commercial.

Things return with Okada toying with Perry, giving him a free shot, as Perry threw three shots, only to be worn out with Okada forearms. Perry fired off a desperation discus lariat to create a double down. Perry floated over in the corner into a release German and also a DDT, with both netting near falls. Okada responded with a big boot and Air Raid Crash neckbreaker before hitting the zero-elevation elbow drop off the top. After flipping off the crowd, Okada tried a Rainmaker, Perry escaped, tried the bounce back lariat, only to run into an Okada dropkick. Perry battled back with a Poison Rana and running knee strike to get a close near fall as Justin Roberts gave a 10-minute call. Snare Trap attempted, but Okada bit the fingers to get free. Okada tried a Tombstone, but according to Callis, Perry bit Okada in the crotch, then applied the Snare Trap. Danielson said he’d never seen that before, while Schiavone screamed for Perry to do that again. Okada got the ropes and quickly rolled outside, as Callis called what Perry did assault. Perry grabbed a chair, but thought otherwise, as the threw Okada back inside, where Okada got a backslide, got wrist control and hit a lariat. Okada tried a proper Rainmaker, Perry ducked, tried a charge, but Okada connected with Emerald Flowsion and Rainmaker for the win.

Post-match, The Don Callis Family came to the ring and picked up Perry, as Callis told him he has a lot of respect for Perry after that effort. After watching that performance tonight, he said instead of giving money to The Young Bucks, maybe he should’ve given it to Perry. Callis said Perry lacks focus and direction, so he’s offering him a spot in The Don Callis Family. Callis said as a signing bonus, he’ll pay Perry out of The Bucks’ money. Callis reminds Perry there are 7 of them and one of him, so if he doesn’t give him an answer, he’ll cut his strings and put him in the chair. Perry said maybe he’s going to bite off a little more than he can chew and charged at everyone. Perry got beat down until Luchasaurus hit the ring and just stopped at ringside, watching Perry get his ass kicked, until The Young Bucks appeared with chairs, swinging at all The Callis Family. Luchasaurus took out two with a double chokeslam, as Okada took a BTE Trigger. Callis was left alone with the bag of money, threw it to The Bucks and begged off, as The Bucks were about to throw a Superkick, which Konosuke Takeshita took the bullet. Rocky Romero ate one as well, as The Family retreated with Takeshita tending to Callis, but The Bucks now have their money.

Match Result: Kazuchika Okada (6) defeated Jungle Jack Perry (0) to earn 3 Points in the Continental Classic Gold League

-Backstage, The Conglomeration celebrated with The Babes of Wrath, as Roderick Strong just stood there with his arms crossed. The Timeless Love Bombs came in and congratulated the new champions again.

-Video package of Mercedes Mone melting down recently after losing her first of 14 titles, but screamed that she’s till the best TBS Champion of all time.

**********

-Eddie Kingston is backstage with Renee Paquette, who said he’s nervous about tonight, which is good, as it keeps you on your toes. Kingston brings up Terry Funk winning the World Title on this day and hopes to make him and his parents proud. Kingston said you don’t know how many shots he’ll get and starts to get emotional and tells Samoa Joe he’s going to have to put him down, as there’s no way he’s going to quit.

Tony Schiavone is in the ring and introduces Mark Briscoe to a big ovation. Briscoe said not that long ago, certain individuals said he’d never get it done and win the big one, but look at the shiny hardware he has now? The doubters are still out there, but respectfully, Briscoe said they can kiss his big white ass. Garcia was cut-off by Wheeler Yuta in the crowd with the Death Riders, saying Briscoe has more children than he has teeth. Daniel Garcia took the mic as they all got in the ring saying he feels bad for Briscoe, as everything about him is sad. Garcia said it’ll be more sad when Briscoe has to try to provide for his family without the TNT Title with a broken leg. Briscoe said Garcia is getting an ass kicking on Saturday, but it’d be rude to deprive the crowd tonight of one as well and told Garcia to make his move. Garcia started slapping Briscoe, who dropped Garica, who had to be held back by Yuta & Marina Shafir. Danielson politely said Briscoe should punch Yuta as well. That was all that happened, as Shafir & Yuta to pulled Garcia from the ring. This was pretty underwhelming to be honest.

-Excalibur said there’s a situation happening backstage, as Triangle of Madness are beating up girls backstage until Kris Statlander made the save and hit Skye Blue & Julia Hart with a chair, but Thekla dodged a shot as they all bailed.

Hangman Adam Page & Swerve Strickland (w/Prince Nana) vs. The Opps (Powerhouse Hobbs & Katsuyori Shibata w/The Opps Dojo) in a Tornado Tag Team Match

(The match itself was an entertaining brawl with the crowd so loudly behind Page & Strickland as a duo, that I highly expect this isn’t a one-time deal like Strickland (who looked great in his in-ring debut after months on the shelf) said it would be on Collision last week. Bryan Danielson had a great line saying how can Winter be Coming when Hell has already frozen over and these two are teaming? The part I didn’t care for was the weapons had to be stopped once the bell rang and a Tornado Tag meant they can just brawl without weapons, which was just weird. Regardless, this match really didn’t need weapons, as the team of Strickland & Page were so wildly over, it wasn’t necessary in the end. I look forward to this story continuing.)

The Opps were out with The Dojo, while Page & Strickland made their entrance through the crowd and both wielded chains and staplegun. Shibata order the Dojo dorks to attack and as they all got clocked with the chain and staplegun. Shibata somehow got ahold of the staplegun and accidentally stapled one of the Dojo members, as before the match even officially began, we get a split screen brawl with Shibata & Strickland and Page & Hobbs paired off in different areas of the concourse. Page chucked a Christmas tree at Hobbs slamming him through a table before having a beer. Shibata meanwhile, placed Strickland on a chair and booted him to the floor as the brawl goes to commercial.

Back from break, the bell finally rings to begin the match, as the referee took the chair from Page, as commentary told us despite this being a Tornado Tag, there are DQ’s applied, which makes utterly no sense to me. Shibata & Hobbs worked over Page, as Strickland was nowhere to be found during the beatdown. Prince Nana jumped on the apron and was about to get beat up by Hobbs, until Strickland flew into the shot with a big boot. Strickland & Page hit double dives outside before returning back inside momentarily until Page & Hobbs tumbled outside. Rolling hip toss into a brain buster attempt by Strickland, which Shibata escaped from, but not the diving uppercut out of the corner, as Strickland connected and hit the Griddy. Strickland wanted House Call, but was pulled outside by Hobbs. Page missed a Buckshot on Shibata, who got a low blow, as Hobbs took the ref. Tony Schiavone said anything goes, which, we were literally told the opposite not that long ago. With Shibata applying a cross arm-breaker on Page, Strickland flew off the top with a Swerve Stomp to break it into the reset.

All four men slug it out until Strickland & Page side-stepped Hobbs, who mowed down Shibata. Double rolling elbow from Strickland & Page, as they hit a Fall-Away Slam/450 Splash combo before Strickland nailed a rolling Cutter on Hobbs leaving Strickland & Page face-to-face. Hobbs was double powerbombed through a table ringside, as a Buckshot and House Call was delivered to Shibata with Strickland getting the pin.

Post-match, we see Josh Alexander watching on backstage, as he’ll face Strickland this Saturday on Collision.

Match Result: Hangman Adam Page & Swerve Strickland defeated The Opps when Strickland pinned Shibata

-Don Callis is backstage and talked about The Young Bucks stealing his money, as he’s prepared to drag them through courts and put them in the poor house, but he’d rather get his pound of flesh. Callis said The Bucks should find a partner in Manchester next week, Takeshita, Okada & Hechicero against The Bucks and a partner for the $1,000,000, if The Bucks grow a set and accept.

**********

-Stokely is backstage and said the most dangerous narcotic isn’t on the streets, it’s the camera, as it gives folks an addiction that makes them think they deserve a title shot. Stokely said next week on Dynamite, FTR will beat The Bang Bang Gang and cure them of their addiction. When they beat them, they’ll leave them clearing customs without the tag titles and at the end of the line in the tag team division, top guys, out. This was a really good, quick promo from Stokely.

Kyle Fletcher (6) vs. Speedball Mike Bailey (0) in a Continental Classic Gold League Match

(Match of the Tournament so far in my opinion and that’s saying something, as we’ve had nothing but excellent matches in this C2, especially Moxley vs. Takeshita last week on Collision. Fletcher is an absolute star and should be in the main event picture, while Bailey continues to be one of the most underrated guys in all of wrestling, always reliable for having matches like this. I’d compare this to a PWG style sprint, as the fans and commentary were going nuts the deeper this match went.)

Renee Paquette said this is do or die for Bailey tonight (despite only being 0-1 at this point), while Fletcher has been on a roll so far in the C2. I want to point out that earlier today on social media, Bailey was training backstage and received some encouragement from Ernest Miller & Glacier. Fletcher dodged some early kicks, while both scrambled for the upper hand, forcing Fletcher to take a powder and regroup. Fletcher returned and got the advantage, mocking Bailey to the crowd, as it led to a handspring hurricanrana, as it was followed by almost a baseball hurricanrana to the floor. Bailey tried a high cross body back inside, but was caught with a spinning back breaker and sit-out slam. Fletcher tried a corner charge, but ate a missile dropkick to the chops, as Bailey connected on a series of kicks before missing a running Shooting Star. Fletcher missed a Brainbuster, was low bridged outside, giving Bailey a chance to hit a springboard Cancun Tornado. Taking too long to follow-up, Fletcher managed a thrust kick, but both fought for a suplex, leading to both standing on the barricade, where Fletcher actually connected on a bodyslam on the steel heading to break.

During commercial, Bailey, whose back is thrashed after that bodyslam, managed to hit a Poison Rana on the floor and Moonsault Double Knees on the apron. This Is Awesome chants ring out, as Bailey wanted the Flamingo Driver, Fletcher avoided that, but took a corner hurricanrana. Bailey looked for a Shooting Star Press, but Fletcher got the boots up, hit the Lawn Dart and sit-out Liger Bomb, only there was fight left in Bailey. A visibly frustrated Fletcher stomped away, as Bailey mounted his comeback, trading loud chops. Fletcher dodged a head kick, but Bailey met him with a Collision Course for a close near fall. This match just reached another level, as Bailey missed a PK, Fletcher missed a powerbomb, Bailey rolled through, hit a snap hurricanrana pin for a close two. PK hits, Moonsault double knees to follow, as a Buzzsaw Kick landed flush, but Fletcher kicked out. During all of that, Justin Roberts gave a 5-minute remaining call. Bailey hit Time Adventure flush, but Fletcher just got a shoulder up. Bailey wanted it again, but Fletcher connected on a thrust kick, charged, Bailey hit one of his own and hit another corner spin kick. Bailey finally hit Ultimate Weapon, but again, Fletcher kicked out.

Fletcher rolled outside, as Bailey tried the Shooting Star double knees, only missed, allowing Fletcher to hit a powerbomb on the apron, scrambled back inside for a Helluva Kick and Sheer Drop Brainbuster, but Bailey kicked out this time. Fletcher wanted his Avalanche Brainbuster, Bailey slipped out with a powerbomb and pin attempt for two, as both are up throwing bombs, Fletcher hit a wild lariat, as Bailey got a cross-arm sunset flip for the flash pin with 1-minute left to win a thriller. Kevin Knight ran to ringside to check on Bailey, as Fletcher is left stunned.

Match Result: Speedball Mike Bailey (3) defeated Kyle Fletcher (6) to earn 3 Points in the Continental Classic Gold League

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Hangman Adam Page asking what’s next after teaming with Swerve Strickland. Page said the AEW Men’s World Title is what is always next, as he told Samoa Joe & Eddie Kingston he’ll be watching, as at World’s End, he’s coming for them and his World Championship.

**********

-The Young Bucks said it’s official for next week in Machester, as they need a partner, so they ask Luchasaurus, who says no, as he pointed to Kenny Omega’s locker room. The Bucks knock on the door, as Omega answers and they ask to do it one more time, as there’s a lot of money on the line. Omega said they’re right, but he doesn’t want the money, it’s about revenge on Don Callis & The Family, hell, he’d do it for free. Omega hit all his go home lines looking at the camera and the match is official for Dynamite next week.

Samoa Joe (w/HOOK) vs. Eddie Kingston for the AEW Men’s World Title

(I could’ve watched these two beat the absolute piss out of each other for another 30 minutes if I’m being completely honest. I held out hope we’d get a surprise title switch, as the fans would’ve lost their minds, but it was not meant to be. I feared we’d get an Opps filled interference main event ala the Moxley Death Riders run, but Joe retained completely on his own and we got a great finish with Joe clearly prepared for what Kingston threw at him. Joe is a great Champion, but I will always hope we get an Eddie Kingston World Title run, I don’t care how long the reign, we just ultimately need it to happen.)

Danielson said there’s a big fight feel, as HOOK immediately tripped up Kingston right in front of referee Paul Turner and was ejected within the first minute. Joe delivered an overhead belly-to-belly before lighting Kingston up with jabs, picking him apart in the early going. Kingston responded with a kitchen sink knee and running bulldog, gaining control heading to commercial.

We return to a slug-fest, which Kingston won, as he started giving kicks to Joe, only waking him up. Joe fired off stiff shots, but Kingston wound up with a home run shot of his own, completely dropping Joe in the process. Kingston charged in the corner, but Joe flattened him with a huge STJoe before delivering a running boot scrape. Dueling chants from the crowd, as Joe starts a strike exchange, with there still fight left in Kingston, who hit multiple lariats, but Joe didn’t go down. The third try, Kingston ran into a snap powerslam by Joe for a near fall. Joe starts throwing kicks and knees, but Kingston no sold. Both trade knees and chops, as Kingston collapsed, only to catch Joe with an Exploder for two, nearly dropping Joe on his head.

Crowd is willing on Kingston, but a delay allowed Joe to hit a Fireman’s Carry slam and STF applied. Kingston bit free and spiked Joe with a DDT, but Joe rolled to the floor. Kingston got Joe back inside, lowered the straps, wanted a spinning backfist, but Joe blocked, so Kingston hit a wild Cutter. Joe was on spaghetti legs, tried the backfist again, but spun right into the Coquina Clutch. Kingston started to fade, but tapped before he passed out. Bryan Danielson said Kingston wanted the real Samoa Joe, he got him.

Match Result: Samoa Joe submitted Eddie Kingston to retain the AEW Men’s World Title

Ring of Honor TV spoilers for December 12 —

Chris Jericho & Matt Cardona Final Battle contract signing —

Jericho flipped off the crowd for chanting “Always Ready!” Jericho congratulated Matt for having the biggest match of his career. Jericho would not let Cardona speak. Finally, Cardona exploded and said, “Everything that comes out of your mouth is BULLSHIT!”

Cardona called Jericho a phony who’s using ROH, and Cardona is going to prove it when he wins the title next Friday. Cardona signed, then Jericho paused before he signed. He finally signed.

Jericho offered a handshake. Cardona sent Jericho into Bryan Keith on the apron. Cardona hit the Rough Rider and then slammed Jericho through the table, leaving Chris laying in the ring.

AEW Rampage spoilers for December 13 —

  • Toni Storm defeated Harley Cameron —

Toni Storm (original version, not Timeless) beat Harley Cameron with the Storm Zero. Harley Cameron threw to break. Yelling in the camera, “We’ll be right back if this idiot can remember who she is!” A more competitive match than you might expect.  There was a moment where Toni was going to do something ‘timeless’ but didn’t. Maybe a sign of a mental struggle with her character. This was the first match but they taped it last.

  • Deonna Purazzo defeated Shazza Makenzie —

Purrazzo won by tap out with the Fujiwara arm bar

  • Matt Cardona defeated Bryan Keith (w/Chris Jericho  on commentary)

After the match, Cardona in the ring and Jericho standing at the commentary desk stared each other down. Jericho took off his hat and jacket and slowly went to the ring only to wave his hands, call it off, and walk to the back with Keith. Cardona said to the crowd he’s going to beat Jericho “for each and every one of you”.

  • Tony Schiavone in the ring w/Don Callis, Lance Archer, Konosuke Takeshita, & Kyle Fletcher

Callis put over the ‘Murder Machine’ tag team, plus Takeshita and Fletcher beating Ospreay and Okada. Fletcher says he’ll beat Mark Briscoe on Collision because winning the Continental Classic is his destiny. Out came Powerhouse Hobbs and Mark Davis to start the main event vs Takeshita and Archer.

  • Powerhouse Hobbs & Mark Davis defeated Konosuke Takeshita & Lance Archer (w/ Don Callis on commentary & Kyle Fletcher standing behind him)

Hobbs pinned Archer with a spinebuster. Takeshita tried to attack Hobbs and got a spine buster for his trouble. Hobbs held up the International Title while standing over Takeshita. Hard hitting match.

AEW Dynamite: Winter is Coming comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone & Nigel McGuinness, as the music for the AEW World Champion hits and it’s time for our opening tag team contest. Schiavone mentioned having the hell scared out of him interviewing Jon Moxley after the events that took place on Collision and Moxley said he’s given Orange Cassidy a stay of execution.

Jon Moxley & PAC (w/Marina Shafir & Wheeler Yuta) defeated Orange Cassidy & Switchblade Jay White via disqualification

(Pretty action-packed opener here, with the story being the three contenders for the World Title being hell bent on getting their hands on Jon Moxley, regardless of the consequences. Cassidy, White & Hangman Page all have a common goal, but refuse to let the other get in the way of it. As a result, it not only cost them the match here, but also led to them getting their asses kicked in the post-match. It’d be very odd if we don’t get a 4-way at World’s End at this point.)

Cassidy & White waste no time taking the fight to PAC & Moxley on the outside, until Moxley turns the tables, sending Cassidy crashing into the steps. The match officially begins with PAC & White in the ring, as Moxley quickly intervened and had a chop exchange with White. Moxley avoided Blade Runner, as Cassidy made a blind tag, hit a baseball slide on PAC, while lighting up Moxley with corner punches. Bling tag from PAC this time, who cut off a Cassidy dive attempt with a pump kick. This allowed Moxley to hit a back suplex onto the announce desk, as this led to Cassidy being isolated. We see The Patriarchy watching on from one of the suites, as Christian Cage is holding his AEW World Title contract. White was able to make a hot tag, spiking both PAC & Moxley, screaming that he has Moxley’s number, but that delay allowed PAC to hit a boot and take control during break.

Back from break, White continued to be beaten down as Cage gave orders to Kip Sabian, Nick & Mother Wayne, all who leave the suite. White & PAC collided in a double down, resulting in duel tags from Cassidy & Moxley, who slug it out, as Moxley slid out of Beach Break, but not the PK, which Cassidy connected on. PAC jumped in, but was spiked with a spinning DDT. Cassidy popped up to the top and hit Moxley with a diving DDT for a near fall. Cassidy hit the spinning DDT on Moxley, tried another on PAC, who blocked, but ultimately hit with a Stundog Millionaire into a Sleeper Suplex from White. Moxley missed a charged and was planted with Beach Break to get a close Cassidy two.

The crowd are on their feet, as Yuta runs distraction, as Shafir tried to trip up Cassidy, who shoved her to the floor. Orange Punch to both Yuta & Moxley, as he was winding up for a home run shot on Moxley, when Hangman Adam Page sprinted in and tackled Moxley for the DQ. Cassidy went to pull Page off, but Page threw a punch and the fight was briefly on until White came in and fought with Page. Cassidy went for an Orange Punch, but Page ducked and White took the blow. Page was dropped by Cassidy, allowing White to recover enough to lay out Cassidy with a Blade Runner. Page, White & Cassidy are slowly recovering and arguing, letting Moxley, PAC, Yuta & Shafir to recover and hit the ring to attack. Death Riders all leave through the crowd, as the three top challengers for the AEW World Title were left motionless.

-We get another wild west vignette with Bandido riding horseback, as other cowboys are telling him he’s under arrest and can do this the easy way or hard way. Bandido got off his horse, took off his cape and laid out all four cowboys, even giving one the 21-Plex in the process.

-Death Riders are backstage, as Jon Moxley said he’s a marked man and heavy is the head that wears the crown, it’s the only way to live. With a knife to your throat, he wouldn’t have it any other way. Everyone is all about their ego, wanting the next title shot, their egos run their lives and run All Elite Wrestling. None of this is about Moxley, so he said he’ll give them an early Christmas gift, World’s End, Fatal 4-Way.

-Christian Cage has a mic in the suite and said as he literally looks down on all of the crowd, they should shut their mouths. Cage said he has a problem with that being a 4-Way at World’s End and has issues with all four men in the match. Jon Moxley has what he wants, Orange Cassidy is a piss ant, White has unfinished business and Hangman Adam Page didn’t do what he was supposed to do when they made a deal. Cage will force Moxley to go back to rehab and have a drink, while he’ll rehab the AEW World Title. Cage went to leave the suite, but turned his back to door, as HOOK appeared, broke the glass window and beat the hell out of Cage, with his arm in a cast. REDRUM was applied, as Cage was almost shoved off the balcony, but fought his way free briefly. HOOK sent Cage flying through the food on a table, as Kip Sabian & Nick Wayne showed up, trying to fight him off, but HOOK stood tall and put chase to Cage.

Will Ospreay [6] defeated Claudio Castagnoli [6] in the Continental Classic Gold League

(The first of hopefully many meetings between these two certainly delivered, as Castagnoli continued looking strong, even in his first defeat in the tournament. Commentary really drove home how difficult of a schedule Ospreay has down the stretch, as he’s had more rest than anyone else in the early stages of the Continental Classic.)

Bell sounded and Ospreay sprinted into a Spanish Fly within seconds. Sasuke Special quickly followed, as Pip, Pip, Cheerio connected back inside for two. Ospreay wanted an Oscutter, but Castagnoli hit an uppercut in mid-air. Ospreay twisted out of a Giant Swing into a roll-up for two. Castagnoli floated over, but ate an Ospreay hook kick for a double down. Both slowly got to their feet and slugged it out until Castagnoli wrenched the arm and sent Ospreay outside. Castagnoli tried sending Ospreay into the steps, but Ospreay cleared them, dropkicked the steps into the legs, tried to leap off, but Castagnoli caught and slammed him again into the barricade. Giant Swing into the steps, as Castagnoli tipped the steps over, trapped Ospreay’s arm between them and stomped down. Back inside, Ospreay tried to battle back with another Pip, Pip, Cheerio, but Castagnoli hit a mid-air uppercut to keep control during the break.

Castagnoli had a Sharpshooter applied, but Ospreay sprung out into a springboard hurricanrana and handspring corkscrew kick for the reset. Running boot in the corner from Ospreay, who fought for and got a suplex and standing Sky Twister Press for two. Taking too long, Ospreay missed Hidden Blade, but avoided the Ricola Bomb into the Octopus Hold. Castagnoli got the ropes, went back to the arm and hit a double stomp to the back before a gut-wrench lift for two. Both battle in the corner, as Osperay fought off a superplex, tried a Leap of Faith, rolled through and ate a Castagnoli uppercut turning Ospreay inside out for two.

Toying with Ospreay only fired him up, as a forearm/uppercut battle ensued until Ospreay ducked one and hit an Oscutter flush, but Castagnoli wisely rolled outside. Back inside, Ospreay wanted Hidden Blade, but ran into a pop-up uppercut for two. Castagnoli hit the home run lariat, but Ospreay kicked out, the first to do so this tournament. Castagnoli wanted the Neutralizer, but Ospreay got a jackknife pin for the flash win.

Post-match, Castagnoli attacked and hit a Neutralizer before getting a chair. Darby Allin made the save with a baseball bat, as Castagnoli ran off through the crowd. We see the graphic that next week, Ospreay & Allin face-off in the Gold League.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Ricochet who said tonight, this is why he came to AEW, for the competition. Tonight, he has Brody King for the first time ever, he’s big, bad and scary, but one thing he’s not, is Ricochet. They’re both 1-1 in the Continental Classic, then looks in his suit jacket pocket and pulls out the MVP Hurt Syndicate card, saying tonight, he has all the cards.

-MJF is seen arriving to the building, wearing his Dynamite Diamond Ring.

**********

-Highlights from Rampage and the confrontation between Chris Jericho & Matt Cardona was shown ahead of their ROH World Title match at Final Battle. Renee Paquette is backstage with Cardona, who said he’s Always Ready and he belongs in AEW. For the past five years, he’s reinvented himself on the independent scene. After Jericho & Bryan Keith laid him out last week, he wants Keith on Rampage to give Jericho a preview of what to expect at Final Battle.

-Renee Paquette approached Kyle O’Reilly before his match with Adam Cole when Matt Taven & Mike Bennett interrupted. Taven said they didn’t need to do this, MJF is making them look like idiots. Bennett said for him to relax, regardless of what happens out there, we’re still family at the end of the day. O’Reilly said they should’ve thought of that before one of their brothers (Roderick Strong) got hurt.

Adam Cole defeated Kyle O’Reilly to earn a match with MJF at World’s End for the Dynamite Diamond Ring

(First time meeting between these two in AEW and first singles match in three years. This was a good TV match, but as much of a Kyle O’Reilly fan that I may be, I never wanted him to lose a match more than this, as this would’ve just extended this MJF/Cole story even longer. Hopefully with Cole winning and finally getting his match, we’ll have a definitive winner and like I’ve been saying for weeks, we can just have a fresh start for MJF & Cole heading into 2025.)

Feeling out process showed how well both know each other, as after an early scrap, O’Reilly dodged a superkick to regroup. They repeat the back and forth, as Cole avoided the superkick, but O’Reilly didn’t let him regroup, as he took the fight to the floor and was in control heading into break.

Back from commercial, O’Reilly went for a corner charge, but ate a Cole superkick flush for the reset. Cole wanted Panama Sunrise, but O’Reilly hit a pump knee, wanted a brainbuster, but Cole responded with one of his own for two. Cole faked a high superkick, hit one low, but O’Reilly recovered and connected on his diving knee from the apron. Back inside, O’Reilly missed a diving knee, as Cole wanted a superkick, O’Reilly dodged, sole butt to the ribs, but Cole didn’t go down, as he hit a desperation flying knee for the double down.

Both connect on dueling big boots, as Cole hit a superkick, only for O’Reilly to hit the Nigel Lariat. Ankle Lock with the leg’s grapevine, as Cole managed the rope break. They battle up the ropes, as Cole headbutts out of a superplex, hits the Panama Sunrise, but took too long to follow-up, as O’Reilly picked the ankle into an Ankle Lock again. Cole rolled through, sent O’Reilly to the floor, as he dragged Cole outside, looked for a brainbuster, but ate a superkick. Back inside, O’Reilly collapsed, as the ref checked on him. This allowed MJF to run down, try for a cheap shot on Cole, who ducked and hit a superkick. O’Reilly nearly stole it with a school boy, but Cole kicked out and got an inside cradle for the win. MJF stormed off through the crowd, as Mike Bennett & Matt Taven came to the ring to congratulate Cole. He offered a handshake to O’Reilly, who refused and walked off.

-FTR are backstage and brought up the Fight for the Fallen show on January 1st and how much it will help not just them, but especially the fans of North Carolina, after everything they have been through. Harwood said they want to put their names in the hat for being part of the main event of that show. They invited Death Riders to have a chat with them on Collision this week, after last week they had to prevent a murder of Orange Cassidy thanks to Jon Moxley and his crew.

*********

-Chris Jericho’s New York Minute is shown as he rattles off New York references, saying Matt Cardona must be upset they left him laying like a used Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle action figure. Jericho accepts Cardona’s challenge to Bryan Keith and said he’ll be on commentary. Jericho also plugs their contract signing on ROH this week. Jericho calls Cardona delusional for thinking he’ll walk out of the Hammershtein Ballroom the ROH World Champion. Keith said Cardona made a mistake putting his crumby hands-on Jericho and he’ll make sure he pays the price.

-Tony Schiavone interviews Darby Allin earlier today saying his quest is never over, as Death Riders are chipping away at everything that AEW has built. Allin thinks of what they did to Bryan Danielson, the backbone of AEW. This is the first place many of the young guys have made a living on wrestling, so they don’t do anything about it, it’s going to keep happening. People think Allin reckless (he punches himself in the face and is bleeding from the mouth) saying the violence doesn’t bother him. When Allin thinks of the Continental Classic, it’s everything that’s right with AEW. He needs to win this tournament, it’s what AEW represents and it’s what he represents. Moxley thinks AEW needs saving, when it’s the company that gave his career a second shot and also allowed Sting to finish his career on his own terms. Nothing fools yourself better than the lies you tell yourself. I thought this was an excellent promo from Allin.

Ricochet [6] defeated Brody King [3] in the Continental Classic Gold League

(I thought these two had a great match, as the crowd were more behind King towards the end, even booing Ricochet when they knew the finish was coming. King continues to build crowd support throughout this tournament, no matter the opponent and I could see Ricochet using that Hurt Syndicate card to possibly help him at least reach the Finals at World’s End, otherwise, why would they tease that earlier in the night? It was an interesting development.)

It was the classic size vs. speed early on, as Ricochet tried his springboard attacks, but just bounced off King like nothing. King no sold chops and leveled Ricochet with some of his own, as he exposed the top of the barricade, but Ricochet flipped off it, tried a hurricanrana off the apron, only to suffer a powerbomb for his trouble. Ricochet even let out a scream in the process, as King set-up and ran through him with a cross body against the barricade into commercial.

Back from break, Ricochet tried a handspring elbow, but King caught him in mid-air and hit a wildly impressive release German for two. King again flattened Ricochet with a chop, telling him to fight back, as Ricochet did with a wall walk enzugiri, low bridge and springboard kick to the face, sending King outside. Fosbury Flop connected for Ricochet, who landed on his feet, tossed King back inside and hit a picture-perfect springboard 450, but King kicked out at one. King slowly rose to his feet and turned Ricochet inside out with a lariat for two. Ricochet wiggled out of a Gonzo Bomb, roll-up for two, as Ricochet answered with multiple pump knees. Ricochet wanted the Benadryller, but King fought out, corner splash and cannonball for two.

They fight up the ropes, as Ricochet avoided a superplex into a sunset flip powerbomb, causing King to pull off the turnbuckle pad in the process. Ricochet hit a massive Shooting Star Press, but King rose up and applied a Rear Naked Choke. Ricochet fought to the apron, hanging King up, he wanted a springboard, but King chopped him out of mid-air. King went up in the corner again, but this time, Ricochet hit a DDT on the exposed corner buckle twice, which allowed Ricochet to hit the dazed King with the Spirit Gun twice for the win.

-Backstage, Private Party welcome fans to The Vault and were immediately interrupted by Action Andretti & Lio Rush. They offered them champagne, when Andretti wanted a title shot instead. Zay said what he wants is a big, juicy, then was interrupted by Leila Grey walking in with Top Flight and everyone started bickering. Zay & Quen suggested both teams fight it out on Collision to see who gets the Tag Team Title shot. Both teams agree, as Rush offered a handshake to Darius Martin, saying no hard feelings. I can’t even begin to describe the jackets Rush & Andretti were wearing.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Mercedes Mone & Anna Jay ahead of their TBS Title match next week. Both agreed to no physicality, as Paquette said today marks Mone’s 200th day of her title reign and has defended her title 10 times so far. Paquette plugged Mone’s match for Strong Style Evolved coming up against Hazuki when Mone cut her off and praised what Jay has accomplished, going to Japan to train, saying it’s cute what she’s done at 26. Mone rattles off what she had done before she even reached 26 and went to leave when Jay stopped her saying she’s going to listen what she has to say. Jay put over Mone for being one of the best in the world, but she’s made a living off being the underdog, as all she needs is 3 seconds to shock the world. Jay walks off and Mone said they’ll see about that.

-A highlight video package of the history between Mariah May & Mina Shirakawa is shown ahead of tonight’s main event.

Mariah May defeated Mina Shirakawa to retain the AEW Women’s Title

(The match itself was a very good main event, with the crowd completely supporting Shirakawa, who had her hope spots throughout. May continues to be able to hit the Storm Zero out of nowhere and it led to another successful defense. Despite sitting in the front row, all Thunder Rosa did was hold up signs that probably took her 10 seconds to make. The bigger story is the return, not of Timeless, but the OG Toni Storm, who couldn’t have looked happier to be back on AEW TV and the explosive reaction from the crowd was louder than anything else on the entire show. It’s been long overdue and I’m looking forward to seeing where the Storm & May feud goes from here.)

Both ladies waste no time slugging it out at the bell, as Shirakawa slaps the hell out of May, who hid in the ropes. Sole butt from Shirakawa, who connected on a low dropkick and zoned in on the left leg. Figure Four applied, as May rolled to the ropes, but Shirakawa kept it applied and both crashed to the floor. May recovered and sent Shirakawa into the steps and barricade, as Thunder Rosa is shown sitting in the front row with a sign saying Mariah May is not her champion. Shotgun dropkick on Shirakawa into the barricade, as May mocks her back in the ring. May went for a punt kick off the apron, but Shirakawa blocked it, slammed May’s leg into the post and applied a Figure Four wrapped around the post as things went to commercial.

When things returned, May had gained control, giving Shirakawa a kiss of death, but the delay allowed a Shirakawa springboard kick. Both ladies ramped up a forearm battle, as Shirakawa hit the rolling elbow, May answered with a headbutt, but before Shirakawa went down, she fired off a desperation back fist for the double down. The crowd loudly behind Shirakawa, who dropkicked out the leg and hit a backdrop suplex for two. Shirakawa went to the ropes, but May connected on her handspring head scissors. Shirakawa answered with a rolling neckbreaker and draping top rope DDT for two. May pulled Shirakawa into the ropes, hit two pump knees on the button before hitting May Day, but Shirakawa kicked out to pop the crowd.

May wanted another May Day, but Shirakawa turned it into a Crucifix Bomb for two. Up to the middle rope, Shirakawa hit the Sling Blade and called for the Glamourous Driver and hit it for a near fall. Shirakawa couldn’t believe it, as May hit another headbutt and a snap Storm Zero for the win.

Post-match, Toni Storm’s old music hits and out walks Storm in her original gear. May can’t believe it, as Storm is almost fighting off tears, she’s so thrilled to be back. Thunder Rosa held up a WTF? sign as Nigel McGuinness said May is being haunted by the ghost of Christmas past to end the show.

Adam Cole vs. Kyle O’Reilly for shot at MJF set for AEW Dynamite Winter is Coming

A match between longtime friends with implications for this month’s Worlds End is set for next Wednesday’s Winter is Coming edition of Dynamite.

Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly were the two final men remaining in Wednesday’s Dynamite Dozen battle royal, outlasting ten other men, and now will square off with the winner facing MJF at the Saturday, December 28th pay-per-view with MJF’s Dynamite diamond ring on the line.

Cole and O’Reilly eliminated Lance Archer and Brian Cage to win the match which also included Rocky Romero, Mark Davis, Evil Uno, Darius Martin, Action Andretti, The Butcher, Dante Martin, and Lio Rush.

On last week’s Dynamite, O’Reilly and Cole squabbled over Cole pursuing MJF which led to their inclusion in the battle royal — the latest chapter in an angle which includes Roderick Strong whom MJF injured at November’s Full Gear.

This will be Cole and O’Reilly’s first singles match against each other since WWE NXT TakeOver 36 when they competed in a two-out-of-three falls match.

In another match added at the end of the show, AEW World Champion Jon Moxley & PAC will team up against Orange Cassidy & Jay White. The match came about following White’s win over PAC that saw all the Death Riders get involved in addition to Hangman Page in another chaotic scene.

Here’s the current lineup for Kansas City, Missouri:

  • Continental Classic Gold league: Will Ospreay vs. Claudio Castagnoli
  • Continental Classic Gold league: Brody King vs. Ricochet
  • AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May defends against Mina Shirakawa
  • Adam Cole vs. Kyle O’Reilly for shot at MJF at Worlds End

Two Continental Classic matches official for AEW Dynamite Winter is Coming

A pair of high-profile Continental Classic matches are official for the Winter is Coming edition of AEW Dynamite, set for Wednesday, December 11th in Kansas City, Missouri.

After defeating Juice Robinson in his Classic debut Saturday on Collision, Will Ospreay will return for his second tournament match against Claudio Castagnoli in Gold league action. It will be their second-ever singles encounter with the first coming this past April which Ospreay won.

Castagnoli is coming off a Classic win over Ricochet this past Wednesday and is set to take on King this Wednesday as both men look to go 2-0.

The other Gold league match will see the aforementioned King take on Ricochet for the first time ever. The high flyer is not scheduled for this Wednesday or Saturday as of now.

The new additions joins the already announced AEW Women’s World title match between champion Mariah May and challenger Mina Shirakawa in addition to MJF vs. the Dynamite Diamond battle royal winner.

Here’s the current lineup for December 11th:

  • Continental Classic Gold league: Will Ospreay vs. Claudio Castagnoli
  • Continental Classic Gold league: Brody King vs. Ricochet
  • AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May defends against Mina Shirakawa
  • MJF vs. Dynamite Diamond battle royal winner

Women’s World title match booked for AEW Dynamite Winter is Coming

The AEW Women’s World Championship will be defended at this year’s Winter is Coming episode of Dynamite.

As revealed during Wednesday’s Dynamite, Mariah May will defend her Women’s Championship against Mina Shirakawa at Dynamite Winter is Coming on Wednesday, December 11.

The match stems from the angle at Full Gear where May attempted to hit Shirakawa with a champagne bottle during their celebration segment. Shirakawa ducked the bottle and broke it with a kick, then sending herself and May through a table with a spear off the stage.

Another angle was shot during Wednesday’s Dynamite where May interrupted a sit-down interview between Shirakawa and Renee Paquette, this time connecting with a bottle shot to Shirakawa.

Prior to the attack, Shirakawa stated that she had been on alert for a May attack after May turned against their former ally Toni Storm. Strom has been absent from AEW programming since dropping the title to May at All In in August.

The announced lineup to this point for AEW Dynamite Winter is Coming set for Wednesday, December 11

  • AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May defends against Mina Shirakawa

AEW announces date & location for Winter is Coming edition of Dynamite

The annual Winter is Coming edition of AEW Dynamite now has a date and location.

Announced during Saturday’s AEW Collision, the gateway to winter will be held on Wednesday, December 11th in Kansas City, Missouri, at the T-Mobile Center.

This will be the fifth-such Winter is Coming themed edition of Dynamite, first beginning in December 2020 in Jacksonville, Florida. That night saw Kenny Omega defeated then-champion Jon Moxley for the AEW World title.

The next two years saw the show head to Garland, Texas. The 2021 version featured then-AEW World Champion Hangman Page and Bryan Danielson going to a one-hour draw while in 2022, then-AEW World Champion MJF defended against Ricky Starks.

In 2023, AEW expanded the theme to Rampage and Collision with shows taking place in both Arlington and Garland, Texas. As of now, the Thursday Collision taping in St. Louis, Missouri, doesn’t have the same designation.

AEW also announced the Wednesday, December 18th Dynamite will emanate from Washington, DC. The plan for that Saturday’s Collision and for the following week’s Christmas Day edition of Dynamite have yet to be announced.

AEW’s Chris Jericho decided on Action Andretti match, direction in October

Chris Jericho made the decision months ago that he was going to make Action Andretti a star.

Andretti scored a surprising upset victory over Jericho at AEW Winter is Coming on Wednesday. Shortly after the match, Andretti was announced as having signed with the promotion.

Our own Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that the decision for Andretti to defeat Jericho was made more than two months ago. Jericho saw Andretti wrestle QT Marshall on Dark (filmed October 7 and aired on October 11) and decided then that he was going to “make him a star.”

“Action Andretti had a match on one of the streaming shows against QT Marshall and Chris Jericho was watching the match and decided at that moment that this guy is going to be a star. So, he decided that he’s going to make him a star,” Meltzer said.

Jericho first had to get through his run as ROH Champion and feud with Claudio Castagnoli, however.

“This match on this date was not something where it was decided yesterday. This was weeks and weeks and weeks ago. The date was decided the day of the Action Andretti and QT match,” Meltzer continued.

Renee Paquette caught up with Andretti for his comments after the match.

“Renee, words cannot describe how I feel right now. I just went out there and beat, like you said, the former AEW World Heavyweight Champion and an eight-time world champion at that. I’m pretty new to this game but that’s pretty damn good for a rookie if you ask me. And if I can do that out there against a guy like Chris Jericho, well then Renee, I think there is no telling the rest of the things that I can do here in AEW.”

**********

AEW Dynamite opened to the sound of the newly purchased ‘Roundball Rock’ the former NBA on NBC theme as Excalibur welcomes us alongside Tony Schiavone & Taz as they run down the card.

AEW Trios Champions Death Triangle (PAC & Lucha Bros (Penta El Zero Miedo & Rey Fenix) w/Alex Abrahantes) defeated The Elite (Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) w/Don Callis, Brandon Cutler & Michael Nakazawa) to win Match 4 of the Best of 7 Series and make it 3-1

(Another excellent chapter in this series, as it’s another different story told with Nick injuring his ankle and Death Triangle again relying on the hammer. I like the potential No DQ for Match 5.)

Nick & Penta had a fast start, with Nick avoiding Fear Factor into a top rope spinning arm drag, as The Bucks made fast tags leading to a cazadora Kotaro Crusher on PAC’s injured face. Tilt a whirl back breaker into a top rope double stomp led to dives on all Death Triangle outside, as Nick held his ankle after he did his. As PAC was worked over by Omega & Matt, the doctor checked on Nick. Tight rope walk from Fenix led to a German by PAC on Matt, while Penta did a step up Sling Blade on Omega. As they went to break, Nick Jackson was taken to the back, turning this into a handicap match.

Matt was isolated the entire break, who countered a somersault DDT by Fenix into locomotion Northern Lights double pin attempt on both Lucha Bros for two. Matt made the hot tag to Omega, who ran wild to a huge reaction, connecting with You Can’t Escape on PAC for two. Snap dragons delivered to all Death Triangle, as Omega went for his Terminator dive, but was tripped up by PAC, who hit a slingshot cutter. PAC flipped out of a German suplex, but was dropped by an Omega brainbuster. As Omega was about to tag Matt, Penta laid out Matt with a Fear Factor on the apron. Fenix connected with a reverse Spanish Fly, while Penta hit Made in Penta, as Fenix got a two count off an inverted Frog Splash. PAC missed Black Arrow, as Nick Jackson limped back down to the ring and made the tag.

Nick ran wild with lariats and a mid air cutter on a springing Fenix. PAC took the ref, as Nick went for a superkick, Fenix blocked and Penta smashed the ankle with the hammer. Fenix sank on an inverted knee bar, while PAC locked up Omega from breaking up the submission, as Nick tapped out.

Post match, Omega took the mic and said a 3-1 deficit is a lot to come back from, but since Death Triangle likes to use the hammer, how about Match 5, all weapons are legal. They want the next match to be No DQ.

-Backstage Alex Marvez is with MJF, who said last week was a star making performance by Ricky Starks, while the first Dynamite, MJF was already a star. It took Starks this long to do it, as at 26 years old, MJF is a star maker. MJF ran down Starks and the fans, as he grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth. MJF isn’t under any pressure tonight, he already has it all, while Starks has everyone to let down. He’s going to turn The Pebble into dust.

**********

The Acclaimed were on their way to the ring, with Max Caster cutting a rap making Britney Griner & Elon Musk references until they were all attacked by Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt, Jeff Jarrett & Satnam Singh. Caster tried to fight back, but he was laid out by a Jarrett guitar shot. Jarrett said Scissor This, Slap Nuts.

-Tony Schiavone is backstage with the J.A.S. with Jericho referring to Claudio Castagnoli as a flash in the pan like Joe Exotic or Ricky Starks. Tonight he’ll take his frustrations out on his tune up match before getting his ROH Title match. Jericho said Daniel Garcia should never have lost the Pure Title and needs to shadow his elder, Sammy Guevara, on Rampage, which did not please Garcia.

Jungle Boy Jack Perry defeated ROH Six Man Champion Brian Cage (w/Prince Nana)

(This was a very solid match with Perry fending off another giant on his quest to, well, another giant. Only this time, he has back up in the form of a cold hearted, handsome devil.)

Perry used his speed early to counter a fireman’s carry into a hurricanrana into a dropkick, as Perry was still feeling the apron powerbomb from Big Bill last week. Cage finally swatted Perry away in the corner and hit his superplex from the apron back into the ring. Bicep curls with Perry led to a fall away slam as Cage was in full control during the commercial break.

Perry battle back with a comeback lariat, which Cage absorbed, looked for a powerbomb, but Perry turned it into a DDT. Cage hit an overhead German suplex and spinning full nelson driver, but Perry kicked out at two. Cage wanted Drill Claw, but Perry got a roll up for a close near fall. Perry was turned inside out with a lariat, but Perry countered a F-5 into a Destroyer. Snare Trap was applied, as Cage tapped, but the ref was arguing with Prince Nana. Cage tried a ripcord lariat, but Perry ducked, sent Cage into Nana and rolled up Cage for the win.

Post match, Perry said at Full Gear, he beat Luchasaurus, tonight he beat Brian Cage, so he calls out the biggest bitch of them all and calls out Big Bill. Stokely Hathaway came out and said Perry constantly pisses him off, runs him down and Perry goes after him until Lee Moriarty & Big Bill showed up and beat Perry down. The beating continued until HOOK walked to the ring, The Firm bailed and HOOK helped Perry up.

-Blackpool Combat Club cut a promo backstage with Moxley recapping their last week, with Castagnoli winning the ROH Title, Yuta winning the Pure Title and Moxley choking out Takeshita on Rampage. Castagnoli said they’ll show up everywhere, Yuta said if anyone wants a shot, they can have it. Moxley said he’ll stomp Sammy Guevara’s face into a bloody mess on Rampage. Moxley also told Hangman Page he knows where to find him and told him to bring his Dark Order buddies if he wants.

The House of Black (Malakai Black, Brody King & Buddy Matthews w/Julia Hart) defeated The Factory (Aaron Solo, Cole Karter & Nick Comoroto w/QT Marshall & Lee Johnson)

(This was a statement victory for the House of Black in their return to the ring.)

Comoroto threw his lollipop at Julia Hart, who responded with the mist to the face. The Factory was demolished outside by King & Matthews. The bell rang and it was immediately 3 on 1, with Marshall needing a miracle. Black Mass wiped out Marshall and Black got the quick pin.

-Jamie Hayter & Hikaru Shida had a video package running each other down prior to their AEW Women’s Title match next week on Dynamite.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Britt Baker & Rebel, as Baker said it’s not going to be a big thing for Hayter to beat Shida, Baker beat her with a broken nose. Skye Blue interrupted and challenged her for Rampage, Baker was insulted, but accepted.

Action Andretti defeated Chris Jericho

(Jericho wanted a tune up and it blew up in his face. This was a lot of fun and Andretti was more than up for the task tonight. Jericho was Razor Ramon and Andretti was the Lightning Kid.)

Jericho kept pie facing Andretti, who tried to return the favor, but Jericho stomped him down in the corner. Let’s Go Jobber chant broke out, as Andretti mounted a comeback to a huge reaction, but was booted down. Repeated corner clotheslines, as Jericho hit a few chops until Andretti got a head scissors into a spinning tornillo. Jericho popped up before even a one count, hit a DVD and Code Breaker, but Andretti kicked out to shock everyone, as Excalibur was baffled he could throw it to break with Andretti still alive.

Jericho controlled the entire break and we come back from picture in picture to even louder Let’s Go Jobber chants. Andretti fired back with chops, but an eye poke put Jericho in control again. Andretti got off a flying forearm, clothesline and back breaker into the neckbreaker. Andretti went for a split legged moonsault, but Jericho got the knees up. Jericho missed Judas Effect and Andretti hit a springboard kick that sent Jericho outside, where Andretti hit a springboard moonsault.

Back inside, Andretti went for antoher springboard, but Jericho teased the Walls of Jericho, but got rolled up. Andretti tried a tilt a whirl into a DDT and got a running standing shooting star press to pin Chris Jericho clean. The crowd exploded, as Andretti leapt into the crowd, while Jericho couldn’t believe what just happened.

-Ricky Starks is backstage and said he woke up this morning knowing tonight will be his night. It’s been a long for him in AEW, not knowing if he’d make it to this moment after suffering a broken neck. MJF is all about ratings, but no one cares, Starks has a lot riding on tonight when he becomes the next AEW World Champion.

Ruby Soho defeated Tay Melo (w/Sammy Guevara)

(These two ladies really laid in the strikes on each other, as Soho is back in the win column and figures to have her next opponent lined up in Anna Jay A.S.)

Melo made out with her husband so much at the entrance that Taz questioned if they shared their lunch. Taz also briefly sang along to Soho’s theme, which is always a highlight. The two ladies brawled ringside before the match officially began. Melo drove Soho into the railing and ring steps as both got in the ring, ref Bryce asked Soho if she’s good and the match started. Melo ran right into multiple Soho back suplexes, but the No Future kick was blocked, as Melo bailed. Soho cut her off, looked for Destination Unknown, but Melo hit the DD-Tay on the ramp.

Melo controlled most of the break, ripping up a Ruby Soho sign in the process. Soho relentlessly fought her way back, driving Melo’s face repeatedly in the corner. Soho leapt off the top, rolled through, as Melo popped up and hit a pump kick. Both ladies traded stiff strikes until Melo hit a throw and Gotch style piledriver for two. Soho blocked Tay-KO, got a knee to the face and planted Melo with Destination Unknown for the win. Anna Jay immediately attacked Soho post match and laid her out with a Gory Bomb.

-Backstage Alex Marvez is trying to talk to Hangman Adam Page, who is being checked by a doctor with Evil Uno by his side. Page said the update was when he was unconscious for 60 seconds last month, he came to and learned he had a hundred text messages. When he unlocked his phone, saw his son’s photo, he couldn’t remember his name at first. Page said if Moxley wants to send him to hell, then he’s taking Moxley with him.

MJF defeated Ricky Starks to defend the AEW World Title & Dynamite Diamond Ring

(This was a solid main event, with the crowd loudly behind Starks. Was there any other way MJF was going to win this besides cheating? Danielson wanted his revenge and appears to be next in line for the champion.)

Early mocking of Starks’ pose and a Fargo Strut led to Starks mowing MJF down with a shoulder tackle to the floor. MJF bailed into the crowd, threw a fans popcorn and another’s hat before heading back to the ring where Starks got a few near falls. MJF got an eye poke and worked the previously injured ribs of Starks, who was hung up over the top and sent to the floor heading to the final break of the night.

It was all MJF working over the ribs of Starks during commercial, as MJF worked an abdominal stretch, using the ropes long enough before eventually getting caught. Starks got a hip toss and fired off a lariat as he tried to string offense together. Tornado spinning flatliner connected, as MJF tried to flip out of Roshambo, but Starks blocked it and hit a sit out powerbomb for a close two. Starks was driven into the corner, as MJF hit a double stomp to the arm to soften it up. Both traded roll ups, but MJF got two with the tights.

MJF hit a powerbomb on his knee and folded up Starks, who just managed to kick out. MJF slowly toyed with Starks, which led to an all out slug fest before MJF again went to the eyes. Discus forearm from MJF sent Starks bouncing into the ropes and hit a desperation Spear for the double down. Starks got a cover, but MJF suckered him into Salt of the Earth then really wrapped Starks up like a pretzel, as a desperation rope break broke the hold. MJF tried a bridge, looked for a powerbomb, Starks flipped out, tried Roshambo, but MJF hid behind referee Paul Turner. Starks shoved the ref away, MJF hit a low kick and rolled up Starks to steal it.

Post match, MJF went up the ramp to leave, but Bryan Danielson’s music hit and the chase was on, as MJF scurried through the crowd with Danielson staring a hole through him. Danielson helped Starks up and held his hand in the air as the show went off the air.
