Anna Jay & Tay Melo reunite on AEW Collision

TayJay are back.

During AEW Collision on Saturday, Anna Jay was interviewed, saying she took umbrage with Willow Nightingale calling herself the ‘comeback killer’ because she came back and is still here. That was when she brought out Tay Melo, noting they were now both back in AEW. Melo said there was only one thing for them to do now, with Anna Jay saying that if you want to find out, just try us.

Anna Jay’s AEW status is in question

After disappearing from AEW television for months, Jay resurfaced on the May 2 edition of Collision where she lost to Nightingale in a match for the TBS Championship. Prior to that, she was last seen on the November 19 edition of Collision where TayJay lost to Marina Shafir & Megan Bayne in a Women’s Tag Team title quarterfinal match. The following week, Melo had her most recent AEW match when she lost to Thekla.

It was reported in December that Jay’s contract with AEW was expected to expire this spring. Jay later confirmed that news in a livestream, saying that the person spreading speculation regarding her future with AEW used to work with her, but no longer does.

Former Tegan Nox appears on AEW Collision, issues challenge

Nixon Newell, the former Tegan Nox in WWE, made her on-screen debut as part of Saturday’s AEW Collision.

Newell, flanked by ROH regular and past AEW Dark competitor Miranda Alize, interrupted a backstage interview with Tay Melo & Anna Jay.

Melo and Jay were hyping up their appearance in the inaugural AEW Women’s Tag Team title tournament when Newell and Alize walked in. Newell said hi to Melo who she wrestled in 2019 during their NXT days. They said they came to AEW as it’s where the best wrestle to which Melo replied that they love a challenge.

No date or show for the match was announced with this Wednesday’s dual taping for Dynamite & Collision as the likely landing spot. The date for Melo and Jay’s quarterfinal match against Penelope Ford and Megan Bayne also has yet to be announced.

Nox was cut by WWE in November 2024 and made her return to the indies in March 2025. She and Alize have wrestled against each other twice, but have never teamed up in the ring. Alize has wrestled six times in AEW with the last coming in June 2021.

Tay Melo responds to rumors of AEW introducing Women’s Tag Team titles

Tay Melo is hoping to see AEW introduce Women’s Tag Team titles at some point in the near future.

Having Women’s Tag Team titles in AEW has been a goal of Tony Khan’s for a while. Last week, BodySlam.net reported that AEW had the title belts made about a year ago — but they’ve been on the shelf waiting to be introduced.

Khan said in May that he believes there are “a number of great tandems” in the AEW women’s division. Another team has since been added to that list with Melo making her return last month and reuniting with Anna Jay. Melo had been away from the AEW ring since she and Sammy Guevara welcomed their daughter Luna into the world in 2023.

While speaking with Denise Salcedo at AnimeVerse Fest this past weekend, Melo spoke about how happy she is to be back in AEW. She’s been paying attention to the Women’s Tag Team title rumors and would love to go after the belts with Jay if they are introduced.

“I’m definitely happy to be back with Anna. Looking forward for what’s going to happen in AEW with me. I don’t know much, but I’m so happy,” Melo said. “I have been reading about the titles, the tag titles, so maybe it’s in the future — who knows? TayJay is here and we’re waiting for it. We have been working together since day one. So it’s a dream for us. If it happens, we’re here and we’re coming for it.”

Melo said that, right now, her goal is to keep proving herself and prove that she can wrestle at a top level.

“I feel like right now, I want to get in the ring. I want to get reps. I want to put myself out there. I want to prove to myself and to people that I can still do it — that I can wrestle in this top level,” Melo said.

“Because that’s what AEW is right now. You know, everybody’s wrestling like in a crazy level. It’s so high, the bar is so high. I just want to keep proving myself right now. I want to [have] great matches. I want to do street fights. I want to wrestle everybody. We have Thekla now too. I didn’t wrestle Toni Storm yet. So, like, there’s so much to do. So much — and I want it all. I just want it all.”

Tay Melo returns at AEW Fyter Fest

Tay Melo made her AEW return on Wednesday’s Fyter Fest show following a two-year absence.

Melo made the save for Anna Jay as she was attacked by Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford during a segment on Wednesday’s four-hour Fyter Fest event.

While she returned to the ring for Stardom in January, Melo has been absent from AEW programming since 2023, first sidelined due to a back injury, then taking maternity leave as she welcomed her first child with husband Sammy Guevara. The couple announced their pregnancy at the 2023 Double or Nothing pay-per-view.

Melo’s last AEW match came in January 2023 where she teamed with Jay against Ruby Soho and Willow Nightingale in a tag team street fight on Rampage. She and Guevara teamed two months later on an indie show, then Melo was out of action until the Stardom tag bout this past January where she teamed with Mina Shirakawa against Thekla and ROH Women’s World Champion Athena.

Our full Fyter Fest play-by-play report is here.

Athena wins tag match in Stardom debut, Tay Melo returns to the ring

ROH Women’s World Champion Athena had a successful debut for Stardom on Friday.

While in Japan ahead of Wrestle Dynasty, Athena had her first-ever match in the country at Stardom New Year Dream 2025, teaming with Thekla to defeat Tay Melo & Mina Shirakawa. The finish was Athena pinning Melo after hitting the O-Face.

Despite their victory, there was dissension between Athena and Thekla. And it looks like Thekla could be challenging Athena for the ROH Women’s World Championship in the near future. They argued backstage after the match and Thekla issued a title challenge to Athena, but Athena turned it down.

“Look here, you’re nothing but trash. A pawn on my chessboard,” Athena told Thekla. “And as far as this goes, you want an opportunity? You want to prove yourself? You want Athena to put you in the spotlight? Absolutely not.”

“We’ll see about that,” Thekla responded.

Athena now heads to the Tokyo Dome for Wrestle Dynasty on January 5, where she will compete against Willow Nightingale, Momo Watanabe, and Persephone in the Women’s International Cup four-way match. The winner receives a title shot of their choosing in either AEW, ROH, Stardom, or CMLL.

Friday’s match was also Melo’s Stardom debut — and it marked her first time back in the ring in nearly two years. It was Melo’s first time wrestling since she and Sammy Guevara welcomed their daughter Luna into the world.

An emotional Melo reacted to her return after the match, tearing up because she was so happy to be back. Melo said she’s “literally in love” with Japan.

Tay Melo returning to the ring, set for Stardom debut

AEW wrestler Tay Melo is returning to the ring for the first time in nearly two years.

It was announced today that Melo will make her in-ring return for Stardom on Friday, January 3, teaming with Mina Shirakawa against Athena & Thekla. The match will be Melo’s Stardom debut. This is Melo’s first time wrestling since she and Sammy Guevara welcomed their daughter Luna into the world last year.

“After two long years, I’m finally back,” an emotional Melo announced. “I’m going to Japan, I’m going to Stardom.”

Melo thanked the fans for all of their support and said she and Guevara will be bringing Luna with them on the trip to Japan. Guevara has a match at Wrestle Dynasty on January 5, defending the ROH Tag Team titles with Dustin Rhodes against House of Torture’s Sho & Yoshinobu Kanemaru.

Since August, Melo has been cleared to return and preparing for her comeback.

The January 3 Stardom event is named New Year Dream and will take place from Tokyo Garden Theater. This tag match is also Athena’s debut for the promotion.

Tay Melo says she’s medically cleared to return

Tay Melo is cleared to return to the ring.

On Sammy Guevara’s vlog, the two were at Wembley Stadium watching All In. While they were talking, Melo noted she wanted to wrestle. Guevara asked if that was soon. Melo replied that while that would be up to Tony Khan, she’s ready.

“I’m cleared though, I’m cleared,” she said, holding their child Luna. “Mama’s cleared. Just got cleared.”

Melo has not wrestled since March of 2023. Shortly after, she announced at Double or Nothing that she was pregnant and gave birth to Luna that fall. In recent months, both Guevara and Melo had been training for their returns.

After being suspended in February, Guevara made his return to AEW during the August 1 episode of Ring of Honor, making the save for Dustin Rhodes against The Dark Order. The two became a team, defeating Matt Taven and Mike Bennett for the Ring of Honor Tag Team titles on the August 17 edition of AEW Collision.

Sammy Guevara says he and Tay Melo are training for their in-ring return

Sammy Guervara and Tay Melo are in training.

In a post on X, Guevara talked about him and wife Tay Melo preparing for their AEW returns while also praising Melo, saying she doesn’t get the credit that she deserves.

“Just wanna say this mama right here is doing such a great job,” he wrote. “We are both training for our comebacks and I wish yall could see how much work she puts in. Some days are harder than others but she has been killing it, all while being a great mom and wife! She doesn’t give herself the credit so just wanna say you are doing great mama & we all can’t wait for your return.”

Guevara has been out of action since February, when he did not follow concussion protocol in a match against Jeff Hardy. In May, it was reported that Guevara was no longer under suspension.

Melo has been out of the ring since last March, initally due to a back injury before later announcing her pregnancy at AEW Double or Nothing, giving birth to a baby girl later that year. In May, she revealed she was back in the ring training.

Tay Melo expects to be cleared for AEW return in ‘a couple more months’

Tay Melo is hoping to return to the ring soon.

Melo hasn’t wrestled in AEW since a street fight with Anna Jay against Ruby Soho and Willow Nightingale on the January 11, 2023 edition of AEW Rampage. She spent a few months on the shelf with bulging discs in her back before announcing she was pregnant at AEW Double or Nothing 2023. Melo gave birth in November to a girl named Luna Melo Guevara, her first child with partner Sammy Guevara.

Last week Melo revealed she is training for a return to the ring. On Monday, she said she expects to be cleared in a couple of months.

“A couple more months until I’m cleared,” Melo wrote.

On May 24, Melo revealed in a social media post that she has not been cleared to take bumps yet.

“had a dream I was taking my first bump after baby,” she wrote. “not fun lol I’m not allowed to bump yet tho”

On May 20, Melo revealed she’s been training to make her return. She wrote, “So happy to be able to be in the ring again. With a lot of patience I’ll get ready to be back, it’s a whole new body & I still feel so week inside.. I got frustrated a couple times, had to hold my tears and keep going. My body was my baby’s home for 40 weeks and now I’ll get stronger not just for me but for her too. It’s a long way to go but I’m closer than yesterday.”

Tay Melo training for AEW in-ring return

Tay Melo is getting back in the ring to train for her in-ring AEW return.

In a social media post Monday, Melo noted that she is back training after missing more than a year of action, first due to a back injury, then taking time off for maternity leave. Melo and husband Sammy Guevara welcomed the birth of their first child last November. The couple announced their pregnancy at last year’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view.

In the post, Melo discussed how she feels as she returns to wrestling after more than a year away:

So happy to be able to be in the ring again. With a lot of patience I’ll get ready to be back, it’s a whole new body & I still feel so week inside.. I got frustrated a couple times, had to hold my tears and keep going. My body was my baby’s home for 40 weeks and now I’ll get stronger not just for me but for her too. It’s a long way to go but I’m closer than yesterday

Sammy Guevara, Tay Melo welcome birth of baby girl

Sammy Guevara and Tay Melo are now proud parents of a newborn baby girl.

The couple announced Wednesday via social media that Luna Melo Guevara was born yesterday after more than 24 hours of labor. She is the couple’s first child together.

Guevara and Melo announced they were expecting before Guevara wrestled in the main event of AEW Double or Nothing back in May. As he made his ring entrance that night, he brought back his previous gimmick of writing messages on cue cards, only on this night he used the cards to reveal the couple was expecting.

Melo would later say she was worried about how the live crowd would react to the announcement.

She told TMZ Sports:

“We didn’t know what to expect. We talked about it before and I’m like, I don’t know, maybe the crowd is going to boo and we just need to be ready for it because we never know what to expect,” Melo said.

“They were so excited which made it so much better. I was, like, about to cry because I was not really expecting the love. So, it was pretty special,” she continued.

AEW’s Sammy Guevara & Tay Melo expecting baby girl

AEW stars Sammy Guevara and Tay Melo are expecting a baby girl.

Guevara and Melo announced the news in a gender reveal video that was uploaded to Guevara’s YouTube channel. The reveal was filmed on the same day as Melo’s 28th birthday, which was this Friday.

Luna Melo Guevara will be the name of the baby.

The couple first announced Melo’s pregnancy during AEW’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view last month. That night, Guevara competed in a Four Pillars match for the AEW World Championship. MJF defeated Darby Allin, “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry, and Guevara to retain the title.

In an interview with TMZ Sports, Melo said she was worried the fans at Double or Nothing might boo the pregnancy announcement.

So, it was pretty special.”

Guevara and Melo have been married since August 2022.

Tay Melo was worried AEW fans might boo pregnancy announcement

Tay Melo says she was nervous about how fans would respond to her pregnancy announcement.

Before the AEW world title match at Double or Nothing, Melo and Sammy Guevara announced they are expecting their first child. Considering AEW crowds haven’t always been kind to the couple, Melo was surprised with the positive reaction they received, referring to the moment as “pretty special.”

Guevara also spoke about the fans reaction in Las Vegas that night.

“The crowd’s coming back around on me,” Guevara said. “We were not always the most loved people out there. For them to give us that big reaction. Everyone’s happy, showing us the love. It was just like, overwhelming in a way where I was like, ok, we gotta get back into it.”

Earlier in the conversation, the couple spoke about how they pitched announcing their pregnancy at Double or Nothing.

Melo said:

“The timing was perfect because it was at about three months so we were comfortable to say it. I was like, ‘Well, let’s talk to TK, see what he thinks, and then let’s go, let’s do this.”

“A cool and special moment for sure,” she continued.

Melo hasn’t wrestled in AEW since January but plans to continue her in-ring career following the birth of the couple’s child. She noted on a recent Instagram Stories post that she wants to get back in the ring as soon as she can.

Sammy Guevara, Tay Melo announce pregnancy at AEW Double or Nothing

During his entrance for the four-way World title match at Sunday’s AEW Double or Nothing, Sammy Guevara and Tay Melo announced they are having a baby.

Guevara brought back his former gimmick of creating signs to convey the message. They later shared a picture on Twitter after the match.

It will be the couple’s first child.

After the two went public with their relationship in January 2022, the two got engaged in Paris the following June and were married in August. All of that followed Guevara proposing to his former girlfriend on an August 2021 edition of Dynamite, something he and Melo have had to deal with and defend on social media since announcing their relationship.

In February, Melo revealed that a back protrusion she has been dealing with for more than a decade had kept her out of action since a January street fight. She has wrestled just once since then, but not for AEW. Rather it was in a March tag team match with Guevara for Northeast Wrestling.
