Adam Cole: ‘This is the best I’ve felt in years’

After spending so much time battling injuries over the past few years, Adam Cole now feels better than he’s felt in a long time.

“I feel really, really good,” Cole told Renee Paquette on the latest episode of AEW Close-Up. “I know this sounds incredibly cliche, especially when coming back from a challenging injury or whatever, but I really do mean this — this is the best I’ve felt in years. Like, even before the injury. Both physically [and] mentally, I feel ready to rock and roll.”

Cole battled career-threatening concussion issues in 2022 and had to spend nine months on the shelf. He returned in March 2023 but was again forced out of action with an ankle injury that September. The ankle injury caused him to miss more than a year, but Cole is now back in action after returning in October 2024.

Not being able to wrestle for so long was difficult for Cole, but it’s given him a whole new level of appreciation for the career he has.

“I was thinking about this for quite some time trying to figure out why I am where I am mentally and physically and all that stuff. And, again, I never lost an appreciation for pro wrestling. It’s always meant the world to me,” Cole said. “But after the two incredibly challenging injuries — one of them being career-threatening, the other one just being so, so difficult physically and mentally — it gave me this whole new appreciation of this job and how much I love it. So now coming back from those two things and still being able to do what I love to do, and getting to travel every week and wrestle and be with my friends and stuff like that. Not that I did, but I will absolutely never take this for granted. So that’s kind of the mentality.”

The 35-year-old Cole told Paquette that he feels like the best years of his career are still ahead of him. He “desperately” wants to be AEW World Champion one day and also has his sights set on winning the AEW Trios titles with Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong.

Undisputed Kingdom (Cole, O’Reilly & Strong) teamed with Daniel Garcia to defeat Shane Taylor Promotions in an eight-man tag match on the pre-show for AEW Revolution this past Sunday.

Paquette’s full interview with Cole can be watched below:

AEW Collision live results: Daniel Garcia vs. Adam Cole, Kenny Omega appearance

A TNT title match headlines tonight’s live AEW Collision from Oakland, California, as reigning champion Daniel Garcia defends against Adam Cole.

Garcia is looking for the fourth defense of the title he won in November while Cole is searching for his first AEW title of any kind.

Former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega will make an appearance ahead of his challenge of International Champion Konosuke Takeshita at Revolution.

After Garcia vs. Cole spun out of Wednesday’s Dynamite, former AEW Tag Team Champions FTR will take on Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Reilly in another spinoff.

Powerhouse Hobbs and Bandido will face Big Bill and Bryan Keith in a continued feud between both teams.

**********

Collision began with words from Daniel Garcia, FTR, The Undisputed Kingdom, & the team of Powerhouse Hobbs and Bandido. Julia Hart spoke on her match, but was interrupted by Kazuchika Okada coming out of his locker room and getting into a staredown with Brody King. Tony Schiavone & Nigel McGuinness were on the call as FTR came out for the opening match.

Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong defeated FTR

A fantastic opening match as the Kingdom continues to rehab themselves with good performances. The false finish with O’Reilly’s foot on the ropes was an odd spot, but it worked to get the crowd behind O’Reilly & Strong who would have been wrongly robbed if the result stood. The work from there built to a great finish, with O’Reilly surviving the punishment long enough for Strong to give them the opening to win. I would love a rematch, and the post-match suggests that one is on the way.

The announcers talked about how it had been seven years since these two teams last faced off. FTR won the opening exchange, driving Strong & O’Reilly to the floor. Strong and O’Reilly took control of Wheeler with offense on the floor before isolating him on their side of the ring. Wheeler slid his way to the corner to tag Harwood, who came in hot and peppered both Kingdom members with strikes.

O’Reilly caught Harwood with a kick and went to pick the leg, but Harwood caught O’Reilly with a piledriver and pinned him. O’Reilly put his foot on the ropes, but the referee didn’t see it and counted the three. FTR were announced as the winners, but Harwood refused the tainted win and demanded the match to be restarted. The crowd agreed, and the match was restarted. FTR worked over O’Reilly more as we went to a commercial break.

After the break, O’Reilly fought past Wheeler and crawled through another piledriver attempt to get Strong tagged into the match. Strong ran wild, scoring a nearfall with a gourdbuster on Harwood. Strong hit Wheeler and Harwood with Olympic Slams before O’Reilly came in to hit a double team strike for a nearfall.

O’Reilly caught Wheeler in an ankle lock and made Wheeler tap out, but legal man Harwood rolled O’Reilly up for a nearfall. O’Reilly got Harwood in an ankle lock, but Harwood rolled him into a forearm shot from Wheeler and rolled him up for another nearfall. Both teams attempted spike piledrivers, but FTR scored with one with the pin broken up by Strong. FTR fought off Strong to hit the Powerplex, but O’Reilly kicked out to a big pop. FTR went for the Shatter Machine, but Strong intervened with a jumping knee to Harwood. The Kingdom hit the Total Elimination for the win.

After the match, The Kingdom offered handshakes but FTR blew them off.

We got a video package of Willow Nightingale taking out Marina Shafir on Dynamite with the Con-Chair-To. Nightingale said that she had been through a lot in AEW and had done it all with a smile, but people had forgotten what happened when the smile fades. She was the Babe With The Power, and she wasn’t afraid to use it.

Wheeler Yuta defeated Willie Mack

A good set-up match for Yuta/Copeland on Wednesday. Yuta is Moxley’s last soldier standing, so seeing Mox re-embrace Yuta as his protégé instead of a useless underling works as he’s got no other options.

Yuta controlled Mack to start, locking on a single leg crab that forced Mack to the ropes. Yuta beat on Mack until the referee pulled him off of Mack, with Yuta shouting that he had until five. Mack rocked Yuta with an elbow, but Yuta pulled himself back into the ring and landed a German suplex. Mack came back with a big lariat and a cannonball and scored a one-count with a standing moonsault. Yuta shoved off a Stunner attempt and hit the Busaiku Knee for the win.

Jon Moxley came out after the match and brained Mack with the briefcase before handing it to Yuta. Moxley took the mic and said that he had a lesson to teach his protégé about finishing the job. He got back in the ring and told Yuta off-mic that he needed to take Cope out on Wednesday night, and to make sure Cope doesn’t leave on his own two feet. He told Yuta to finish the job and held up Mack for another briefcase shot, which Yuta obliged. Moxley left Yuta with the briefcase and left the arena.

We got a recap of the altercation on Dynamite between Mercedes Mone, Billie Starkz, & Momo Watanabe that left Watanabe with the TBS Title. Mone was backstage when Starkz walked in with the TBS Title, telling Mone to enjoy it now as Watanabe was going to take it from her at Revolution. Starkz got her own receipt from Dynamite, throwing a drink in Mone’s face to leave her steaming.

We got a video of a bedridden Toni Storm with a neckbrace on. The upside to getting piledriven on a stage is that it gave her time to think. Storm said that she could give Mariah May the spotlight she wanted at Revolution and made it clear that their rematch at the PPV would be no holds barred and falls count anywhere. She hoped May believed in God, because she was going to meet her.

Swerve Strickland defeated Clark Connors

A good showcase for Strickland here as he focuses in ahead of his #1 contender match. Connors looked good going against Strickland and helped Strickland to look good ahead of his PPV match.

We got a Connors highlight reel of his work in New Japan since his appearance at Forbidden Door 2022, mentioning him as a member of the War Dogs alongside Gabe Kidd. Strickland got an early advantage before Connors took him down with a shoulder block and got in the referee’s face for being in his way. Connors clubbered on Strickland before Strickland caught him with a backbreaker and transitioned immediately into an arm snap as we went to a commercial.

After the break, Strickland and Connors maneuvered around each other before Connors caught Strickland with a powerslam. Connors went for his Jeep Flip spear, but Strickland caught Connors with an upkick and a hurricane kick. Strickland took Connors to the top rope and hit an avalanche belly-to-back suplex for a nearfall.

Connors caught Strickland with a headbutt, but Strickland countered another Jeep Flip attempt with a rolling flatliner. Connors avoided the Swerve Stomp and landed the Jeep Flip, but a delayed pin due to his arm damage only got two. Connors went for No Chaser, but Strickland pulled Connors to the mat by the arm and drilled him with a sick House Call to the face for the win.

Swerve spoke to the camera and talked about his first step back to the main event being at Revolution as a contract signing between himself and Ricochet was announced for Dynamite.

We got video from after Dynamite with The Outrunners catching up with The Hurt Syndicate. MVP informed them that even though they beat a distracted Murder Machines, MVP was a man of his word. He granted the Outrunners a title shot and told them to get their affairs in order. The Outrunners were pleased, saying they had worked their entire rookie year for this shot.

After a commercial, Harley Cameron was at the announce desk with the announcers seeming confused as to why as she wasn’t scheduled for an interview. After showing highlights of her win on Dynamite, Cameron said that she was there to workshop names for her finishing move. She landed on calling it “Her Finishing Move.” She called Tony Schiavone a genius and told everyone to Feel The Wrath.

Big Boom AJ & Big Justice were backstage with Alicia Atout before they were immediately interrupted by Johnny TV. Johnny saw them disrespect MxM Collection some time back, so he challenged AJ to find two partners for a trios match at Revolution. He clarified that Big Justice nor a cookie would count.

Lee Moriarty & The Infantry (w/Shane Taylor) defeated Vinnie Massaro, Nick Ruiz, & Dave Dutra

Matt Menard joined commentary for this one. You may recognize Vinnie Massaro as the pizza guy from Lucha Underground. Shane Taylor Promotions got a quick win, with Moriarty scoring the fall with The Fang. As they were leaving, Adam Cole made his entrance for the TNT Title match.

AEW TNT Title Match – Daniel Garcia (c) vs. Adam Cole ended in a no contest

This was a very good match that was on its way to great when the finish happened. Garcia’s got this odd paradox going where he won’t get a strong reaction for his entrance but usually gets the crowds by the time his match ends. That work will pay off down the line. Shane Taylor Promotions hasn’t meant much in AEW up to this point, but if they’re going to do anything with them, they need to do it now as this angle got them a lot of heat from this Oakland crowd.

Cole won the first exchange and hit his catchphrase. Garcia won the second exchange and hit his dance. The two shook hands but got into it afterward, with Garcia hitting the Twist N’ Shout neckbreaker. Cole cut off the ten punches in the corner and hung up Garcia in the ropes before hitting a backstabber. Cole hit a neckbreaker and a Rude Awakening for nearfalls, softening up Garcia’s neck as a point of attack.

Cole landed an enzuigiri, but Garcia got to the apron and hooked Cole’s leg for a Dragon Screw Leg Whip. Garcia hit a running dropkick to Cole on the floor as we went to a commercial. After the break, Cole caught Garcia with a superkick and got a nearfall with an Ushigoroshi. Garcia scored with a neckbreaker, but Cole countered a second one with a brainbuster over the knee for a nearfall.

Cole loaded up for the Panama Sunrise, but Garcia cut him off with chops. Garcia went to the top rope, and after a fight, Garcia brought Cole down with a superplex and quickly followed with a piledriver for a nearfall. Garcia set Cole up for another piledriver, but Cole jackknifed him for a nearfall. Cole scored with multiple superkicks and hit the Panama Sunrise for a nearfall.

Garcia hit a side suplex that sent Cole to the floor, but Cole baited him in with a superkick and hit The Boom on the floor. Cole rolled Garcia into the ring, but the extra time allowed Garcia to kick out. Cole decided that his ankle hurt too much for another Panama Sunrise, but Garcia caught the superkick attempt and locked on an ankle lock. Cole crawled across the ring and got to the ropes to break the hold.

Garcia hit a piledriver on the apron to send Cole to the floor, and rolled into the ring as the referee administered the count. Cole jumped in at the count of nine, and the two got into a hockey fight as the ring announcer made the call that five minutes remained in the time limit. The time limit wouldn’t be the issue here, as Shane Taylor Promotions came out and attacked both men. The Infantry laid out Cole and Moriarty locked Garcia in the Border City Stretch as Shane Taylor walked around with the TNT Title.

We quickly cut to a hype package for The Opps.

After a commercial break, Big Boom AJ updated us on his partner search. Big Justice found Orange Cassidy, and Cassidy brought in Mark Briscoe to do his Mark Briscoe promo. So it will be Big Boom AJ & The Conglomeration vs. Johnny TV & MxM Collection at the PPV.

Queen Aminata defeated Julia Hart

A lot going on here, as Aminata scores the biggest win of her AEW career with the advice from Serena Deeb, and we have a feud with Brody King and Kazuchika Okada forming after the post-match. The crowd was into this one.

During Queen Aminata’s entrance, we got a picture-in-picture promo from Serena Deeb. Deeb challenged Aminata to the first ever women’s Pure Rules match and said that we would see if Aminata was ready for it tonight against Hart. Deeb gave Aminata the gameplan, and now it was time to see if Aminata was smart enough to accept her advice.

Hart took Aminata over with a headscissors before some strikes in the corner got her a nearfall. Aminata traded strikes with Hart before taking her down with a chop block and jamming her knee into the mat, a la Serena Deeb. After the commercial, Aminata had Hart in a full nelson with her legs, with Hart escaping by stacking her up for a nearfall. Hart got a flash pin for a nearfall, then fired up with axe handles and a moonsault for a nearfall.

Hart locked on Hartless, but Aminata rolled Hart to her back for a nearfall. Hart dropped Aminata in the corner and went up for a moonsault, but Aminata moved out of the way and drilled her with the Brain Drain. Aminata hit the running kick in the ropes, called Off With Her Head, for the big win.

After the match, Brody King came out to check on Hart in the ring when Kazuchika Okada appeared and laid King out with the Continental Title.

Kenny Omega Speaks

We got a recap of Konosuke Takeshita beating Orange Cassidy on Dynamite, making Takeshita vs. Kenny Omega official for Revolution.

We cut to Omega at his home, talking about how he had to spend a year hearing Don Callis talking about Takeshita beat him twice in a week. It got on his nerves, but this wasn’t about revenge for Omega. It’s about the belt, and he who holds the belt is regarded as the best. Omega said that if Takeshita beat him a third time, he may have to admit that the old Kenny Omega is gone and that Takeshita is better. But after a year away to focus, he doesn’t have the baggage of friends that left him behind or the baggage of being an EVP. His entire focus is the belt, not because of Don or because of Takeshita. He wanted the International Title, and he was going to take it at Revolution.

Bandido & Powerhouse Hobbs defeated Big Bill & Bryan Keith

An energetic main event to give Hobbs a win in his hometown.

Hometown man Hobbs and Keith started, with Hobbs lifting Keith in a suplex and passing him off to Bandido in a gorilla press before Bandido dropped him in Hobbs’ arms for a fallaway slam. Keith was back in his bad yellow gear, but he dropped the singlet to a minor improvement. Big Bill tagged in and hooked Bandido for a chokeslam, but Bandido rolled through to his feet and pointed his six-shooter at Bill. Bill wanted a duel but charged at Bandido as he took his paces. Bandido, sensing the lack of honor in Big Bill, ducked the attack and laid in shots. Keith cut Bandido off on the apron as we went to a commercial.

The Learning Tree were in control as we were back from the break, but Bandido ducked a Big Bill charge and hit the Trish Stratus bulldog off the ropes on Keith to get the tag to Hobbs. Hobbs encouraged the MEAT chants as he ran wild in front of his home crowd. Hobbs hit a massive twisting slam off the top rope for a nearfall that Bill broke up. Bill caught a leaping Bandido in a Bossman Slam.

Hobbs cut off a Big Bill chokeslam attempt with a big shoulder block, leading to Bandido and Keith dropping each other with running boots. Hobbs and Bill faced off again, with Hobbs sending Bill to the floor. Hobbs told Bandido to go up, and Bandido did a moonsault off of Hobbs’ shoulders to Bill. Bandido went splat on the floor, that looked like it sucked. Hobbs took the straps down and dropped Keith with a main event spinebuster to win the main event.

During this match, Thunder Rosa & Kris Statlander vs. Megan Bayne & Penelope Ford was made official for Dynamite.

Adam Cole vs. Daniel Garcia, Kenny Omega appearance set for AEW Collision

For the first time in nearly two years, Adam Cole will square off with Daniel Garcia one-on-one but this time, gold will be on the line.

After the events of Wednesday, Garcia will put his TNT title on the line against Cole who is still looking for his first taste of AEW gold. The two wrestled in March 2022 with Cole picking up the win.

Cole pinned Garcia as part of a trios match on Dynamite and both the Undisputed Kingdom and FTR/Garcia got into a shoving match afterward. Cole, Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Reilly have been eyeing up Garcia for a month as part of various trios bouts.

In another bout coming out of the post-match encounter, former AEW Tag Team Champions FTR will take on Strong and O’Reilly.

Former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega will be live in attendance to share some thoughts after his AEW International title match against Konosuke Takeshita at next month’s Revolution was confirmed.

Here’s the current lineup for Saturday’s live show from Oakland, California:

  • TNT Champion Daniel Garcia defends against Adam Cole
  • Kenny Omega live in person
  • FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) vs. Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly

Adam Cole on AEW post-match hug with Malakai Black: ‘A cool moment with a friend’

Adam Cole spoke about his brief program with The House of Black during a recent interview with Kliq This.

When Cole returned to AEW in November after more than a year on the shelf with a severe ankle injury, his first match was against Buddy Matthews, and his second was against Malakai Black. The story seemed to imply that the House of Black was testing and preparing Cole for his comeback and rivalry with MJF.

On the November 6 edition of Dynamite, Cole defeated Black in what would be Black’s final singles match in AEW. The two wrestlers embraced afterward, and some fans took that as a sign that Black would be leaving the company soon. Black wrestled his final AEW match on November 23, and it was reported last week that he is no longer under contract. He is expected to return to WWE shortly.

Cole stated that he was unaware of Black’s future plans or status with AEW at the time.

“I do have a history of working with Malakai. Just an unbelievable opponent, an unbelievable guy to step in there with, and we’ve shared a lot of really cool moments together. So for me, all it was, was this personal moment between two guys who have a lot of love and respect for each other. I don’t know anything about or didn’t know anything about what his plans were and things like that. For me, it was just a cool moment with a friend after getting to work together after a long time.”

In a trios match that has been building for weeks, Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong will take on Shane Taylor & The Infantry and TNT Champion Daniel Garcia, Matt Menard & Angelo Parker.

Bandido will return to AEW in-ring action for the first time in nearly two years as he faces Bryan Keith.

In a Continental Classic rematch, Kyle Fletcher will go one-on-one with Mark Briscoe.

Ahead of their Continental title match at Grand Slam Australia, Kazuchika Okada and Buddy Matthews will have a face-to-face confrontation.

AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May will compete in an exhibition match ahead of her title defense against Toni Storm next Saturday.

The show is rounded out by former champion Thunder Rosa vs. Penelope Ford, Dustin Rhodes in action ahead of his Dynamite match with MJF, and a live Harley Cameron concert.

**********

Collision began with promos from Mark Briscoe & Kyle Fletcher. Sir Elton John played us in to Collision from Houston, Texas. Tony Schiavone & Nigel McGuinness were on the call. They were running down the card when a security guard was flung across the screen by Marina Shafir.

AEW World Champion Jon Moxley was behind her, saying that the show began when he said it did. Moxley said that he was tired of Cope demanding a World Title match and made it clear that he called the shots. Moxley said that he had 1,000 reasons to deny Cope a title shot, but the major one was that he didn’t like Cope. Moxley said that while he wouldn’t give him a title shot, he would fight him whenever he wanted. He told Cope to bring his friend Jay White and his half-broken neck to Australia and pray that Moxley gave him the grace to walk out of Australia.

(A solid promo to start the show, with the crowd giving Moxley a ton of heat.)

Trios Three Way Match – The Undisputed Kingdom (Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong) defeated Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor, Carlie Bravo, & Shawn Dean), & TNT Champion Daniel Garcia, Angelo Parker, & Matt Menard

(A phenomenal start to the show, as this may have been the best match on AEW TV in 2025 to this point. This is the ideal version of a trios division, as singles stars teamed with their established partners/friends. This Houston crowd was red hot for everything, which helped the cause. And the turnaround the Kingdom has done since the MJF feud has been impressive. Their in-ring work has helped to rehab them all, and now they feel like a real challenge for the Death Riders come Wednesday. An excellent segment.)

Strong and Taylor started off, with Strong baiting Taylor into the Kingdom corner to get peppered with shots from him and O’Reilly. Taylor took them down with a clothesline and brought O’Reilly into the STP corner, but Menard blind tagged O’Reilly to sneak in. Quick tags were the game here as Menard pulled double duty by hopping on commentary as Garcia hit the ten punches on The Infantry. STP took control of Garcia with an apron attack as we went to commercial.

Garcia took Taylor down with a side suplex as we came back from the break, but the Infantry pulled 2.0 off the apron to keep a tag from happening. Garcia was forced to tag out to O’Reilly, with the Kingdom running wild. We got a move train with everyone getting a big shot in as the Houston crowd was rabid. More fast action saw Taylor get taken out on the floor with a Total Elimination, and Cole scored the win with The Boom on Bravo.

After the match, The Death Riders attacked everyone. Claudio Castagnoli took the mic and congratulated Cole before reminding everyone who the best trio really was. The Kingdom fought back, with O’Reilly tapping out Yuta with an ankle lock. The Death Riders fled, and on behalf of the Kingdom, Cole challenged the Death Riders to a Trios Title match on Dynamite. The match was quickly confirmed for Wednesday in Austin, Texas.

We got a video package for FTR. They said that they’ve taken a back seat for too long, and that they wanted the World Tag Team Titles for a third time.

Max Caster was backstage with Alicia Atout, who asked about Hangman Page. Caster said that how Page acted on Dynamite wasn’t very manly, and that if Page wanted a fight, he should accept his Open Challenge when it returns on Dynamite.

$200,000 Bounty Match – Bandido defeated Bryan Keith

(This Collision rocks so far. Bandido looked awesome in his return, earning the crowd even as some were behind Keith as a native Texan. That duel at high noon spot was phenomenal, and the crowd ate it up. I truly believe that with his gimmick and his work, Bandido has the upside to be the next major lucha star in America if he’s given the chance.)

Keith threw his duster in Bandido’s face to sneak a boot in, but Bandido quickly came back and dropped Keith with a dropkick. Keith caught a diving Bandido with a forearm as he came off the ropes before we went to a commercial break. After the break, Bandido came back with a step-up tornillo and a one-armed gorilla press for a nearfall.

Keith cut off a 21-Plex with a lariat, then stunned Bandido with a rising headbutt. Keith took Bandido off the top rope with an exploder suplex. The two traded strikes before they stood back-to-back. The two men faced off at high noon by taking ten paces to the corner before taking each other down with boots. Bandido got Keith on his shoulders to hit the X-Plex, then hit the 21-Plex to score the win in his return match.

Powerhouse Hobbs was backstage with Lexy Nair. He told Big Bill that his boy wasn’t able to collect the bounty, and that he would be in Texas all week for a fight. He said that he would be in Austin on Tuesday, which is when Dynamite is being taped next week.

La Faccion Ingobernable (Rush, Dralistico, & The Beast Mortos) defeated Ares Alexander, Jay Alexander, & Brick Savage

(Another great segment with AEW taking advantage of their location this week by highlighting the lucha stars on their roster. I was worried about Hologram’s momentum drying up after getting hurt a few months back, but the crowd was still into him as he made the save for Komander to possibly form a new team.)

LFI got a quick win, with Rush getting the pin after the Bull’s Horns. They beat down the locals after the match before Komander made the save. He took down Mortos with a springboard poisonrana, but the numbers were too much for him. LFI went to unmask him before Hologram made his return to AEW to get revenge on the men that put him on the shelf. Hologram and Komander posed before they hit big dives on LFI and brawled to the back.

In the meantime, Rush was threatening a referee with a chair. Other referees tried to hold him back, but Rush shoved them away and laid one out with a big forearm as the announcers said that big fines were headed Rush’s way.

Lexy Nair attempted to interview Megan Bayne, who stonewalled her. Thunder Rosa turned the corner and tried to welcome her to AEW, but Bayne stonewalled her too. Rosa took over the interview as Bayne went on her way, excited to be back in Texas to take on Penelope Ford tonight.

Harley Cameron, Live In Concert

(This segment had a real chance to bomb, but this was as good as you could hope a segment like this could be. This felt straight out of a 2015 episode of NXT in all the right ways. The crowd has really taken to Harley Cameron, and Mone was a great foil here for her to set up her next title defense.)

Cameron had Puppet Mercedes Mone in tow and kicked off by singing about she wanted to ride the Mone Train. She was quickly cut off by Mercedes Mone, who asked if Cameron was stupid or dumb. Mone was about to call Cameron a loser again, but Cameron cut her off to sing another song about Mone feeling the wrath. She got the crowd to chant Feel The Wrath, but Mone cut her off again.

Mone called Cameron a loser and told her to leave the ring, but the crowd chanted for Harley. Cameron said that she wanted to be where Mone was and wouldn’t stop until she got a shot at the title in her hometown. Cameron said that the most entertaining Mone had ever been was when she was a puppet. Mone slapped Cameron, but Cameron bonked her with the mic to send her to the floor. Mone accepted Cameron’s challenge and promised to embarrass Cameron in her hometown.

Buddy Matthews was sat backstage with Lexy Nair. They were scheduled for a sitdown interview with both Matthews and Kazuchika Okada, but Okada hadn’t arrived yet. Okada burst in late and asked for a water, but Matthews decided to cut to the chase. He wasn’t falling for Okada’s comedy schtick and knew what he was capable of, but didn’t think he knew what Matthews was capable of. Okada called Matthews a bitch, and Matthews feigned a swing to make Okada jump. Matthews left, and Okada threw his water down in anger.

Dustin Rhodes defeated Izzy James

This was not the old Bayley fan Izzy, in case I needed to make that clear. Dustin hit his moves and won in the time it took for me to write this down.

After the match, Rhodes took the mic and said MJF wasn’t the devil. Rhodes had looked the devil in the eyes, knocked his teeth out, and dragged his way out of hell. Rhodes said that everything MJF was planning to do to Rhodes had already been done, and that he would make sure MJF met the devil on Dynamite.

The Death Riders were in the back. PAC said that they had been Trios Champions for what felt like an eternity with no challengers and credited the Undisputed Kingdom for stepping up. Castagnoli gave the Kingdom credit for having teeth and promised to pull them all out. PAC and Castagnoli left, leaving Yuta by himself. All he did was give a little smirk, and the people booed him.

Thunder Rosa (w/ Toro The Mascot) defeated Penelope Ford

(I don’t know if Ford got dinged up or got gassed at some point, but there was clearly a point where these two were stalling for Ford to get her bearings. We seem to have Megan Bayne’s first program set with a former Women’s World Champion.)

Toro is the Houston Texans mascot, for those wondering. Rosa scored a nearfall with a sliding lariat before Ford forced her back into the corner. Ford sent Rosa to the apron before hitting a knee drop as we went to commercial.

Ford got a nearfall with a gutbuster after we came back from the commercial break. Rosa avoided a handspring charge into the corner and fired up, hitting a hesitation dropkick and a suplex for a nearfall. Ford came back with a Muta back handspring elbow and a boot across the face. Ford went to the top, but Rosa avoided the moonsault and got a nearfall. Ford hit a shotgun dropkick, but Rosa caught her with a victory roll for a nearfall. Rosa caught Ford with strikes, but Ford Matrix-ducked a lariat and hit a cutter for a nearfall. Rosa hit a backstabber and the Tijuana Bomb for the win.

After the match, Megan Bayne came out and went face-to-face with Rosa. Ford was still in the ring and jumped Rosa from behind, leaving Bayne to pick the scraps and leave Rosa laying with an F-5.

We got footage of Ricochet beating Swerve Strickland on Dynamite, then going to a DEFY Wrestling event to gloat in front of Strickland’s hometown fans in Seattle. Strickland made a surprise appearance to attack Ricochet, with Prince Nana helping him land a House Call.

Legendary Houston rapper Bun B was backstage with Lexy Nair, promoting his Trill Burgers that they were serving in catering. Ricochet entered the frame to confront Bun B, who was friends with Swerve and was part of his Wembley entrance last year. Ricochet helped himself to a Trill Burger before spitting it out and accosting the poor guy making the burgers. Ricochet said to thank Prince Nana for the Embassy robe he stole after Dynamite.

Non-Title Exhibition Match – AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May defeated Shay Carmichael

(A good angle here with the misdirection attack on May. I’ve had my issues with this angle throughout, but they seem to have the match hot right in time for the payoff.)

May came out with a big bag, the brand of which I wasn’t privy to. May jumped Carmichael before the bell, hit her moves, and won with the Mayday.

After the match, May dressed Carmichael up like Storm and smeared lip stain on her. Luther The Butler came out with a tray, revealing the bloody shoe May used all those months ago. May took the shoe and went to attack Carmichael again, but Toni Storm was in her place and attacked May. Storm went to piledrive May on the ring steps, but May escaped through the crowd.

Backstage, The Don Callis Family were laying people out, as they do. Mark Davis was hesitant but was told to start pulling his weight and joined in the attack.

Kyle Fletcher defeated Mark Briscoe

(An excellent main event to cap off the clear-cut best episode of AEW television this year. Briscoe was phenomenal here as the never-say-die babyface against this cocky heel, and the spots playing off of the Continental Classic match brought this match up to another level. This quickly supplanted the trios opener as the best AEW match of 2025, and I cannot recommend this episode of Collision enough. Awesome, awesome show.)

Fletcher jumped Briscoe with a boot at the bell and laid the boots to him in the corner. Briscoe came back and sent Fletcher to the floor, where he followed him out with a dive. Briscoe pulled out the plunder, tossing a chair in the ring and setting up a table on the floor. Briscoe sent Fletcher to the floor again, but Fletcher caught Briscoe and lawn darted him into the ringpost. Briscoe came up bloody, and Fletcher put him down with a powerbomb into the apron as we went to a commercial.

After the commercial, an even bloodier Briscoe fired back with shots before both men laid each other out with clotheslines. Briscoe laid in chops and hit an exploder suplex for a nearfall. Fletcher fought out of a Jay Driller and hit a hanging DDT. Fletcher hit a running knee and a cradle Tiger Driver for a nearfall. Fletcher hit the Yakuza Kick, but Briscoe countered the Brainbuster with a Fisherman’s Buster for a nearfall.

Fletcher cut Briscoe off on the top rope, but Briscoe slid out of a Brainbuster and went for a Cut Throat Driver that won the first match between these two. Fletcher held onto the referee and snuck in a low blow before hitting a brainbuster for a close nearfall. Fletcher dropped Briscoe with half-and-half suplexes before he slumped to the apron. Fletcher pulled the table into position, but Briscoe knocked Fletcher off the ropes and hit a Froggy Bow off the top rope through the table to a massive pop.

Briscoe got Fletcher in the ring and hit another Froggy Bow for another nearfall. Briscoe set up another Cut Throat Driver, but Fletcher held onto the ropes. Briscoe cut Fletcher down with a chop and set up a top-rope Jay Driller, but Fletcher escaped and hit two Yakuza Kicks. Fletcher hit the top rope Brainbuster to score the win.

After the match, Fletcher took the mic and bragged to the crowd about his win and promised to do the same next week in Australia.

**********

We got pre-roll promos from The Patriarchy, Toni Storm, Mariah May, & Samoa Joe. Tony Schaivone & Nigel McGuinness were joined by Jim Ross for this week’s show.

Samoa Joe (w/ Hook & Katsuyori Shibata) defeated Nick Wayne (w/The Patriarchy)

Good to see Joe back in a fun opener to continue the Patriarchy/Hook & Friends feud.

This match was originally scheduled for Dynamite, but Samoa Joe had travel issues due to winter weather.

The Patriarchy surrounded Joe before Hook & Shibata came out to ward them off. Joe took the fight to Wayne to start, peppering him with jabs in the corner. Joe had Wayne up for the Muscle Buster, but Wayne raked the eyes to escape. Wayne worked over Joe’s legs, hitting a moonsault to Joe on the outside.

Joe came back with the uranage in the corner, but Wayne clawed at Joe’s eyes to avoid another Muscle Buster attempt. Wayne hit a rolling Code Red for a nearfall. A Wayne’s World attempt got ducked, and Joe laid out Wayne with a sick lariat before scoring with the Muscle Buster for the win.

We got a recap of the angle from Dynamite with Will Ospreay, Kenny Omega, & The Callis Family.

Champion vs. Champion Non-Title Match – AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada defeated ROH TV Champion Komander

This was a good clash of styles, with Komander having another good showing against a top-line star in Okada.

Komander refused to shake Okada’s hand and used his pace to keep Okada off balance to start the match. Komander hit a tope to the floor before Okada dropped him with a boot. Komander came back with a step-up armdrag to the floor but got caught on a headscissors attempt on the floor and dropped with a DDT.

After a commercial break, Okada tried to catch another headscissors attempt, but Komander caught him with an X-Factor. A wheelbarrow bulldog got Komander a nearfall, but Okada cut off a springboard and hit the neckbreaker over the knee. Okada hit the elbow drop and gave the big middle finger, but Komander ducked the Rainmaker and hit a step-up headscissors. Komander hit a springboard destroyer and hit a ropewalk moonsault to the floor. Okada caught Komander on a springboard and hit the Rainmaker for the win.

After the match, Okada finally got his handshake before jumping Komander from behind and cackling to the back.

We got a recap of last week’s run in that led to the trios match tonight between Daniel Garcia & 2.0 & The Undisputed Kingdom.

Powerhouse Hobbs was waiting in the parking lot for Big Bill. Bill arrived, chucking a brick at Hobbs’ head and pinballing him around. Bill laid him out with a big boot, but Hobbs ripped a fence door off and hit Bill with it before security separated them.

Big Boom AJ & Big Justice were backstage with Lexy Nair, who were interrupted by The Undisputed Kingdom. Adam Cole came in and did the Boom with them.

The Undisputed Kingdom (Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong) defeated Daniel Garcia, Angelo Parker, & Matt Menard

This is the best way to rehab the Undisputed Kingdom after the MJF feud, by having them earn back their cache in-ring. A solid match here to build a few issues in the midcard.

Shane Taylor Promotions were ringside. Cole & Garcia started off, with both teams getting quick tags in before Garcia laid out O’Reilly on the floor for a commercial break. After the break, the former Jericho Appreciation Society members were laying into O’Reilly in the corner before O’Reilly fought to his corner.

Cole got the hot tag and traded shots with Garcia, dropping him with a neckbreaker over the knee. Strong and Parker tagged in, with Strong running wild with backbreakers. O’Reilly and Strong laid out Menard with double forearms before pinning Parker with a Total Elimination. Both teams shook hands after the match as Shane Taylor Promotions glowered at the scene at ringside.

Max Caster was backstage, upset that his partner and his mentor turned their backs on him last week. He called himself a survivor and announced an Open Challenge Series, daring people to step up to the Best Wrestler Alive.

(I gotta tell you, I don’t like Caster’s chances.)

There was a blink-and-you’ll-miss it tease for Hologram, who has been out on paternity leave recently.

Top Flight was backstage with Lexy Nair. Dante was upset that Lio Rush & Action Andretti weren’t in the building, but Darius wasn’t surprised. He went off on Dante, noting that he never wanted Rush in the group to begin with. Andretti had helped them out while Dante was hurt, but Rush bailed on Dante when Darius got hurt prior to that. Darius challenged Rush to a match and promised to send him packing again.

(I’m intrigued by this lower-card feud, as it continues to evolve in a logical way and continues to keep these four talented guys on screen.)

Mariah May & Toni Storm’s Face-To-Face

I’ve been critical of this story, and I still don’t really understand why Storm pretended to not remember anything. But she got a big pop for the Timeless reveal and cut a good promo, so I guess all’s well that ends well.

Tony Schiavone was in the ring to moderate the face-to-face between Toni Storm & Mariah May. May entered first, ready to get this s**t over with in her own words. May ran Storm down, calling her a joke and a meme before promising to humiliate Storm in her hometown. Storm said that she was May’s biggest fan, having followed her career from the UK to Japan to AEW. Storm said that she wanted to be just like May and gave her a hug. May reciprocated before slapping her in the face and laying her out with the title belt.

May went to leave, but Storm took the mic and asked why May thought she’d forgotten everything. Storm got back into her Timeless Toni voice and disrobed out of her rocker clothes, revealing that she was playing the role of herself and had given the performance of a lifetime. Storm fired up and said that she would rip May apart in Australia as the crowd went crazy.

We got a preview of a long form interview with Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli with Renee Paquette.

Hounds of Hell (Brody King & Buddy Matthews) (w/ Julia Hart) defeated Gates Of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona)

The House of Black is officially dead, and the Hounds of Hell are in their place. King and Matthews can be a cornerstone team in a rebuilt tag division, and can be a credible threat to the Hurt Syndicate moving forward.

King & Matthews came out with a new presentation and a new name as the Hounds of Hell. Matthews and Liona started off before King and Liona traded big shots. Kaun tagged in and helped Liona clubber on King in the corner. Matthews tagged in and took the Gates to the floor before hitting a big dive into the commercial break.

The Gates were running wild as we came back, dumping King over the timekeeper’s table before hitting a double tree slam on Matthews for a nearfall in the ring. King made his way back to the corner and got the tag, running wild on both Gates and hitting a DVD on Liona for a nearfall. Matthews cut off another tree slam, kicking off a move train. Liona no-sold a piledriver, but Matthews hit a Meteora to take him out. Matthews and King hit a corner cannonball/dropkick combination on Kaun for the win.

Big Boom AJ & Big Justice were backstage with Lexy Nair & Harley Cameron. Cameron didn’t know any of their gimmicks, and Deonna Purrazzo & Taya Valkyrie interrupted them all to talk trash to Cameron.

Penelope Ford & Thunder Rosa were backstage with Lexy Nair. Ford challenged Rosa to a match, and they talked trash to each other.

AEW TBS Title #1 Contendership Four Way Match – Yuka Sakazaki defeated Serena Deeb, Deonna Purrazzo (w/ Taya Valkyrie), Queen Aminata

The action came quickly, with all four women going for flash pins. No one had a clear advantage, with all the women laying in big shots. Sakazaki hit a big dive to the floor as we went to commercial. After the commercial, Purrazzo hit La Mistica on Aminata to lock on a Fujiwara Armbar, but Aminata fought out and they dropped each other with clotheslines.

Sakazaki hit a high cross on Deeb for a nearfall. Deeb came back with a flurry of suplexes and a short-arm lariat to Aminata for a nearfall. Deeb and Aminata brawled to the back, as Valkyrie got in the ring to help Purrazzo. Harley Cameron came out to take Valkyrie out of the match, and Sakazaki caught Purrazzo with a flash pin to win the title shot on Wednesday’s Dynamite.

The Hounds of Hell were in the back with Lexy Nair, with Buddy Matthews saying they barked as one. Kazuchika Okada was laughing at them off to the side, saying that they barked like bitches. Matthews challenged Okada to a title match, with Okada giving him a middle finger in denial. Matthews said that made Okada the bitch and walked off.

Big Bill was in the ring, calling out Powerhouse Hobbs again. Hobbs came out and bumped a bunch of security guards to get to the ring. Bill went after Hobbs’ knee and hit him with a backpack that contained a brick, Hobbs’ knee brace, and a set of handcuffs. Bill punched Hobbs with the handcuffs and bloodied him up as they made their way to the announce table. Bill drilled Hobbs with a chair. Hobbs came back and took Bill off the stage with a belly-to-belly off the stage through a table.

We got a pre-tape of the Don Callis Family meeting in Callis’ palatial estate. Callis noted that this was a different Kenny Omega, one that was bloodthirsty and ready to spill Callis’ blood. Cage brought up how they had the numbers advantage as it was five-on-two, but Callis reminded him that a barely focused Omega won three World Titles with Callis by his side. Callis said that Cage was wrong that there were only five of them, with the camera focusing on a sixth plate at the table.

AEW International Title Match – Konosuke Takeshita (c) defeated Katsuyori Shibata

An awesome main event here, as Shibata took Takeshita to the brink with Daily’s Place red-hot for it. Takeshita looked strong going into the big-time Grand Slam Australia tag match.

The two grappled to start the match, with Shibata almost scoring with the Penalty Kick. Shibata cornered Takeshita, but Takeshita fired out of the corner with a lariat. Takeshita took Shibata over the barricade and went for a running boot, but Shibata caught him with a boot and knocked him over a chair as we went to commercial.

Shibata hammered Takeshita in the corner as we came back from the break, landing the hesitation dropkick and the half-hatch suplex for a nearfall. Shibata teed off with kicks, but Takeshita came back with strikes of his own. Takeshita landed a big forearm, but Shibata came back with an STO. The two traded forearms before Shibata snatched on a sleeper hold. Takeshita tried to fall back, but Shibata held on to the hold.

Takeshita transitioned out of the sleeper into a Bastard Driver and a German suplex, but Shibata hammered Takeshita with a Penalty Kick as the fans chanted AEW. Shibata locked in the Cobra Twist as Don Callis went to ringside from the announce booth. The two men traded suplexes before Shibata got the sleeper hold on again. Callis cut off the Penalty Kick, allowing Takeshita to counter the sleeper with a Blue Thunder Bomb for a one count.

Takeshita ran through Shibata with a lariat and the Powerdrive Knee before landing Raging Fire for the win.

MJF retains Dynamite Diamond Ring, Undisputed Kingdom reunite at AEW Worlds End

MJF has the ring, but Adam Cole gets the last laugh.

The former AEW World Champion defeated Cole to keeep the Dynamite Diamond Ring at Worlds End on Saturday, seemingly ending their year-long feud that started at the end of the 2023 event last December. The finish had Cole looking to use the ring as Matt Taven & Mike Bennett distracted the referee at ringside as they were being ejected. However, MJF responded with a low blow and pinned Cole after using the heatseeker to retain control of the ring for another year.

After the match, MJF attempted to injure Cole further by wrapping a chair around his injured ankle. However, Roderick Strong came out for the save. MJF attempted to leave, but was stopped by Kyle O’Reilly on the entrance stage, who proceeded to throw MJF back into the ring. They, along with Cole, Taven, & Bennett laid out MJF as they celebrated in the ring, officially reuniting in full.

Despite Cole having turned on MJF last year, Cole returned as a babyface going after MJF, who had turned back heel during Cole’s recovery. Cole and O’Reilly were the final two participants in the Dynamite Diamond Ring battle royal to determine who would face MJF next. The two faced off in the finals at Dynamite Winter is Coming earlier this month, with Cole emerging victorious.

AEW Christmas Collision live results: Will Ospreay vs. Ricochet

AEW will make their Hammerstein Ballroom debut tonight with a live Christmas Collision episode featuring the latest chapter in a rivalry that goes back years.

In the Continental Classic Gold league, Will Ospreay will take on Ricochet. Both men are in a five-way tie with six points as the tournament enters its final week. They went to a no contest in their first AEW clash back in October.

In another Gold league match, Darby Allin and Claudio Castagnoli (six points each) will meet in a rematch from November.

In two Classic Blue league bouts, TNT Champion Daniel Garcia will face Shelton Benjamin for the first time while Mark Briscoe takes on The Beast Mortos.

Adam Cole and MJF will have a face-to-face confrontation ahead of their Worlds End match while TBS Champion Mercedes Mone will also be on hand to share some thoughts.

The card is rounded out by former TBS Champion Kris Statlander vs. Penelope Ford.

The final Collision of 2024 comes to us live from Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. Ian Riccaboni, Big Boom AJ, and Big Justice started the show in the ring, running down tonight’s card before Will Ospreay made his entrance for the opening match. Tony Schiavone & Nigel McGuinness were on the call.

Continental Classic 2024 Gold League Match – Ricochet [9] def. Will Ospreay [6]

Ricochet is in the driver’s seat in the Gold League, getting to 9 points with some underhanded tactics. Ricochet has been getting real heat over the last few weeks with this try-hard character he’s been rolling out. Meanwhile, Ospreay is on the back foot, as with one match left, he’ll need a lot of help to advance to the Continental Classic playoffs.

Ospreay got streamers on his entrance, while Ricochet got toilet paper thrown at him to Ospreay’s delight. Ricochet bailed from the ring after the first exchange to big boos. Another exchange ended with Ricochet dumping Ospreay onto the top rope before following him to the floor with a Fosbury Flop.

After a commercial break, Ospreay got on offense, hitting a Phenomenal Forearm for a nearfall. Ricochet fought out of a Styles Clash, hitting an Angel’s Wings for a nearfall. Ricochet had an uncharacteristic stumble on a Best Moonsault Ever attempt, allowing Ospreay to move out of the way. Ospreay caught a cartwheeling Ricochet on his shoulders before transitioning into a Styles Clash for a nearfall.

Ricochet rolled to the apron when the Hidden Blade was teased, leading Ospreay to follow. Ricochet popped Ospreay onto his shoulders and hit a Death Valley Driver on the apron. Ricochet followed with a Shooting Star Press off the apron to the floor, followed by a springboard 450 in the ring for a nearfall. Ricochet hit a head kick and a lifting reverse DDT for another nearfall in this offensive flurry.

The crowd was firmly behind Ospreay as Ricochet loaded up the Spirit Gun. Ospreay ducked, and a series of counters ended with Ricochet catching Ospreay with a cutter on an Oscutter attempt. Ricochet hit another Death Valley Driver, but Ospreay countered the Spirit Gun with a Hidden Blade to put both men down. They both agreed to stand up and trade forearms, with Ospreay winning the exchange.

Ospreay went for the Stormbreaker, but Ricochet forced Ospreay into the referee. Ospreay hit the Stormbreaker, but the referee was out. Ospreay went to the top rope, but Ricochet booted the referee into the ropes and knocked Ospreay down. Ricochet drilled a recovering Ospreay with the Spirit Gun to score the win to big boos.

MJF & Adam Cole Summit

This is the closest this feud has felt to having any juice in a long time, so I’ll call it a success. I’m still not personally invested in it at all, but the crowd here did seem to at least play along with the promo.

Adam Cole & MJF came to the ring, with MJF coming out with security. MJF started by reminding Cole that he turned on MJF first. MJF took some pot shots, including saying that his dentist isn’t seeing him anymore. He said that Cole had several shots at the World Title before MJF won it but blew it like he blew out his ankle. MJF said that Cole used to be Adam Cole Bay Bay, but now he looks like a crack bay-bay.

Cole asked if MJF was done before starting on his own. He could talk about MJF’s hair replacement surgeries or his politicking to get his girlfriend a job, but he wouldn’t go in depth on it. He had some regrets, but he didn’t regret turning on MJF. MJF made friends and stabbed them in the back all the time, Cole just did it better than him and he knew it. Cole got in MJF’s face and said that he knew MJF would have turned on him anyway, and MJF admitted to it.

MJF said that last year at Worlds End, he was going to turn on Cole. He didn’t care about Cole when their team started, but he started to once they became friends. But then Cole got hurt and became a liability. Cole wasn’t the Devil, he just beat the Devil to it. He promised to end Cole’s world at Worlds End. Cole said that he would end this face-to-face and punched MJF in the face. MJF’s security got involved, and Cole bumped all of them before MJF kicked him low. He went to punch Adam Cole with the Diamond Ring before the Undisputed Kingdom ran him off.

We got a recap of Mercedes Mone defending both of her titles this past week.

Kris Statlander was backstage with Lexy Nair, who asked her about her attempted reconciliation with Willow Nightingale. Statlander said that the conversation between her and Nightingale was between them for now and promised to handle Penelope Ford tonight. Statlander turned her attention to Mercedes Mone, saying that her downward spiral this year began when Mone entered the company. She believed that getting the TBS Title back would lead her to getting back some of what she lost and challenged Mone to round two at Worlds End.

Orange Cassidy was backstage with Lexy Nair. He said that he couldn’t have a conversation with Hangman Page or Jay White, so he just asked them to listen. Jon Moxley couldn’t escape the three of them at Worlds End, and they all knew Moxley had to be removed as champion. He asked for a temporary alliance to take Moxley out of the picture, then the three of them could work out the title between themselves.

Kris Statlander defeated Penelope Ford

I’ll take another Statlander/Mone match. With Statlander getting back into Willow Nightingale’s orbit, I can see all of this leading to a big three-way for the title down the line no matter who wins at Worlds End.

Statlander went for a stalling vertical suplex, but Ford transitioned to a sleeper hold. Statlander maneuvered Ford back into the suplex before completing it for a nearfall. Statlander got Ford onto her shoulders and went to the second rope, but Ford knocked Statlander to the mat and hit a blockbuster for a nearfall. Ford hit double knees to Statlander on the apron as we went to a commercial.

After a commercial, Ford missed the double knees before Statlander dropkicked her off of the apron. Statlander hit a spinning Fisherman buster for a nearfall. Ford ducked a corner boot and hit a Perfect-Plex for a nearfall. Statlander caught Ford on a handspring elbow, and a series of counters ended with a Ford springboard poisonrana for a nearfall. Statlander came back with a pair of German suplexes before landing Staturday Night Fever for the win.

Mercedes Mone came out after the match. She was planning to take the PPV off but decided to grant Statlander another beating. She accepted Statlander’s challenge for Worlds End.

Big Boom AJ, Chris Jericho, Anthony Bowens Summit

Not sure why the Costco Guys are still here, unless it’s just because they’re local. It is interesting to see Bowens by himself cutting a promo with the ROH World Champion. He was fine on his own here, and maybe a short Jericho program could be a test-run for a singles run after the teased Acclaimed split goes down.

After a commercial break, Big Boom AJ & Big Justice were hyping the crowd up when The Learning Tree interrupted them. Chris Jericho asked if they had a permit to be there from Mayor De Blasio, and Big Justice called him a jackass. Jericho said that he spoke for all New Yorkers when he said that they didn’t want Big Boom AJ there. They didn’t even have Costcos in New York, they had bodegas. Jericho said that New York wasn’t about silly gimmicks like Boom, or guys in bandit masks – referring to Bandido after his run-in at Final Battle – or people who scissor.

This brought out Anthony Bowens by himself, who told Jericho to shut the hell up. Big Bill said that people who asked for silence were afraid of the truth, and his hometown crowd chanted his name. Bowens challenged Jericho to fight him now, but The Learning Tree bailed. AJ went to hit his line, but Bowens interrupted him and scissored with them instead.

Deonna Purrazzo & Taya Valkyrie were backstage with Lexy Nair when Technicolor Toni Storm stumbled into the frame to introduce herself to them. Purrazzo didn’t feel like dealing with Storm, so she challenged Storm to take on Valkyrie on Dynamite.

Continental Classic 2024 Blue League Match – Daniel Garcia [7] defeated Shelton Benjamin [6]

Garcia stays alive with a win over Benjamin. The finish played into Benjamin’s weakness of “playing with his food” as MVP often calls it, as Garcia survived Benjamin’s onslaught to get the win with his now-trademark jackknife flash pin. Both men are still alive for the playoffs going into Dynamite, with win-and-in scenarios against Kyle Fletcher and Kazuchika Okada respectively. The post-match was great, as it both worked as a Heyman Special for the next match and a reminder of the Swerve/Lashley feud.

With a loss or a draw, Garcia would be eliminated from playoff contention. Matt Menard joined commentary for Garcia’s match, as always.

Garcia jumped Benjamin at the bell after the Hurt Syndicate’s attack on Dynamite. Benjamin dumped Garcia over his head and pinballed him to the floor and around the ringside area. Benjamin controlled Garcia as the crowd chanted We Hurt People. Garcia tried to come back with chops before Benjamin chopped him down and hit a back body drop as we went to commercial.

After the break, Garcia took Benjamin down with a dropkick, but Benjamin came back with a pair of German suplexes. Garcia blocked a German suplex off of the apron, but Benjamin caught Garcia on the floor and dumped him with a belly-to-belly suplex. Garcia dropped Benjamin with a drop toe hold onto a chair and laid in the ten punches, but Benjamin dropped him with a lariat. The crowd helped Garcia back to his feet, and Garcia hit a Dragon Screw Leg Whip on Benjamin.

Benjamin came back with another German Suplex, but Garcia dodged the knee lift in the corner and locked on the Dragon Tamer. Benjamin transitioned into an STF variant and forced Garcia to the ropes. Garcia caught Benjamin in a small package for a nearfall, but Benjamin kicked out and hit a superkick for a long nearfall. Justified This Is Awesome chants rang out as Garcia caught Benjamin with the jackknife pin to steal the win and stay alive in the tournament.

With this result, Mark Briscoe is officially eliminated. That didn’t stop Briscoe from coming out to make the save as the Hurt Syndicate went to attack Garcia after the match. Swerve Strickland joined the fray, jumping off of the top rope and Swerve Stomping all of the security. Strickland took the mic and reminded everyone of his promise to get his hands on Bobby Lashley by the end of the year.

Continental Classic 2024 Blue League Match – Mark Briscoe [9] defeated The Beast Mortos [0]

Another energetic, fun match on this Collision. Briscoe technically leads the block right now, but he needs some help on Dynamite to advance to the final. Briscoe needs Benjamin/Okada to go to a time-limit draw. In that case, he will advance to the playoff in second place behind either Daniel Garcia or Kyle Fletcher. It’s unlikely, but it’s not impossible.

This is the final match of the tournament for both Briscoe and Mortos. A win would keep Briscoe ever-so-slightly alive, as he would need some help on Dynamite to advance to the playoffs.

The two traded strikes to start before transitioning to flash pin attempts. Mortos dropped Briscoe with a shoulder block before Briscoe vaulted Mortos to the floor. Mortos cut off a Briscoe dive attempt with a spear as we went to a commercial. Mortos was in control after the break before Briscoe ducked a rising knee in the corner and sent Mortos to the floor. Briscoe hit a baseball slide, then followed it with a tope con hilo.

Mortos cut off the tope chair hilo, but Briscoe dumped Mortos on the apron with a German suplex. Briscoe hit a skytwister press from the top rope to the floor before hitting the tope chair hilo. Justified This Is Awesome chants rang out as Briscoe went for the Froggy Bow, but Mortos got his knees up and hit the Banebreaker and a powerbomb over the knees. Mortos hit a pop-up Samoan Drop for a big nearfall.

Mortos fought out of the Jay Driller, but a Death Valley Driver and a Froggy Bow scored Briscoe a nearfall. A second Froggy Bow landed, and a Jay Driller scored the win for Briscoe to keep his faint tournament hopes alive.

Continental Classic 2024 Gold League Match – Claudio Castagnoli [9] defeated Darby Allin [6]

A solid main event featuring Castagnoli pinballing Allin around some more. Castagnoli’s frustration at not being able to put Allin down was the key point of the finish, resorting to brass knuckles to beat him. I expect Allin to get his win back over Castagnoli at some point in the new year as the Death Rider feud continues. As far as the tournament goes, Ricochet and Castagnoli control their own destiny as the outright block leaders and will clinch playoff spots if they win their matches. An upset will open the door for the winner of the Brody King/Will Ospreay to sneak in.

Allin dove onto Castagnoli to start the match. Allin fought Castagnoli to the top of the ramp before climbing to the top of the entrance structure and diving onto him. The two crawled to the ring so the bell could ring, and Castagnoli immediately caught Allin with the Swiss Death uppercut for a nearfall. Castagnoli got Allin in the Giant Swing for nearly a minute before tossing him to the floor.

After the commercial, Allin sent Castagnoli to the floor before diving into him. Allin hit another suicida before hitting a Coffin Drop to the floor. Castagnoli dove onto Allin’s back in a sleeper hold, but Castagnoli dumped Allin through the ringside table to escape the hold. Allin beat the count and ducked the big lariat, scoring with several flash pins before Castagnoli double stomped his chest to shut him down.

Castagnoli deadlifted Allin up and bodyslammed him from the ring to the apron. He then drove Allin into the ringpost back first before swinging him into the ring stairs. Castagnoli hit a big lariat for a nearfall. Allin countered the Ricola Bomb into a Sunset Bomb for a nearfall. Castagnoli set Allin on the top rope and went for a superplex, but Allin reversed it into an Avalanche Scorpion Death Drop. A Coffin Drop met Castagnoli’s knees, but a Ricola Bomb only scored a two-count.

Another Ricola Bomb got another nearfall. Castagnoli went outside and got a chair. The referee took the chair away, but that allowed Castagnoli to pull out brass knuckles and knock out Allin. Castagnoli scored the pin and went to do more damage after the match but Will Ospreay returned the favor to Allin from last week’s Dynamite and ran Castagnoli off.

Collision will return on January 4th, 2025, so I will take this time to wish you all a Merry Christmas, a Happy Hanukkah, a Krazy Kwanzaa, a Festivus for the rest of us, and a Happy New Year!

More Continental Classic bouts, MJF & Adam Cole face-to-face set for AEW Collision

This Saturday’s AEW Christmas Collision will now feature four total Continental Classic matches after two new bouts were announced Wednesday.

New to the lineup is Darby Allin vs. Claudio Castagnoli in Gold league action and Mark Briscoe vs. The Beast Mortos in Blue league action.

Allin picked up a massive win over Will Ospreay on Wednesday’s Holiday Bash edition of Dynamite that created a four-way tie at the top of the standings. Allin and Castagnoli are two of those who are deadlocked with six points. They have met once before with Castagnoli picking up a win last month on Dynamite.

In the Blue league, Mortos is running out of time to earn his first points as he was defeated by Shelton Benjamin Wednesday. Briscoe has six points after consecutive wins over Daniel Garcia and Kyle Fletcher. It will be a rematch from August when then-ROH World Champion Briscoe defended against Mortos.

The show will also feature a face-to-face confrontation between MJF and Adam Cole. Cole finally got a one-up on MJF Wednesday during the latter’s in-ring promo. A vide of Cole and The Undisputed Kingdom aired as if it was live, but Cole snuck up behind MJF and laid him out with a superkick.

The new additions join the previously announced Classic bouts of Ospreay vs. Ricochet and Garcia vs. Benjamin.

Here’s the current lineup for this Saturday at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City:

  • Adam Cole/MJF face-to-face
  • Continental Classic Gold league: Darby Allin vs. Claudio Castagnoli
  • Continental Classic Gold league: Will Ospreay vs. Ricochet
  • Continental Classic Blue league: Mark Briscoe vs. The Beast Mortos
  • Continental Classic Blue league: Daniel Garcia vs. Shelton Benjamin

Adam Cole vs. MJF for Dynamite diamond ring official for AEW Worlds End

Former friends and blood rivals MJF and Adam Cole will finally square off one-on-one at this month’s Worlds End pay-per-view.

The match was made official during Wednesday’s Dynamite when Cole defeated Kyle O’Reilly in an eliminator match to face MJF who currently holds the Dynamite diamond ring. A shot at the ring is put up annually in a December battle royal where the two remaining wrestlers square off in a singles match the next week.

MJF, who is the only person to hold the ring since its creation in 2019, tried to get involved by attacking Cole but got superkicked instead. Cole then was able to roll up O’Reilly for the victory. MJF then ran away through the crowd in frustration as Cole tried to run after him.

It’s the latest chapter in a storyline that began with their 30-minute draw in a then-World title match on a June 2023 Dynamite, continued with their unexpected union in a blind draw eliminator tag team tournament in the summer of 2023, and continued well through the first All In from London where MJF successfully defended the title against Cole in the main event.

The two have been on a collision course since Cole played a part in MJF losing the AEW World title to Samoa Joe at last year’s Worlds End. Cole was then revealed as the Devil character and further attacked MJF to put him out of action in storyline until May’s Double or Nothing. MJF made his surprise return, low blowing Cole and sending him slinking away. He would return from his own injury months later with their babyface/heel characters flipped around.

Here’s the current card for Worlds End:

  • AEW World Champion Jon Moxley defends against Hangman Page, Jay White & Orange Cassidy
  • AEW Continental Classic semifinals & finals
  • MJF defends the Dynamite diamond ring against Adam Cole

Adam Cole vs. Kyle O’Reilly for shot at MJF set for AEW Dynamite Winter is Coming

A match between longtime friends with implications for this month’s Worlds End is set for next Wednesday’s Winter is Coming edition of Dynamite.

Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly were the two final men remaining in Wednesday’s Dynamite Dozen battle royal, outlasting ten other men, and now will square off with the winner facing MJF at the Saturday, December 28th pay-per-view with MJF’s Dynamite diamond ring on the line.

Cole and O’Reilly eliminated Lance Archer and Brian Cage to win the match which also included Rocky Romero, Mark Davis, Evil Uno, Darius Martin, Action Andretti, The Butcher, Dante Martin, and Lio Rush.

On last week’s Dynamite, O’Reilly and Cole squabbled over Cole pursuing MJF which led to their inclusion in the battle royal — the latest chapter in an angle which includes Roderick Strong whom MJF injured at November’s Full Gear.

This will be Cole and O’Reilly’s first singles match against each other since WWE NXT TakeOver 36 when they competed in a two-out-of-three falls match.

In another match added at the end of the show, AEW World Champion Jon Moxley & PAC will team up against Orange Cassidy & Jay White. The match came about following White’s win over PAC that saw all the Death Riders get involved in addition to Hangman Page in another chaotic scene.

Here’s the current lineup for Kansas City, Missouri:

  • Continental Classic Gold league: Will Ospreay vs. Claudio Castagnoli
  • Continental Classic Gold league: Brody King vs. Ricochet
  • AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May defends against Mina Shirakawa
  • Adam Cole vs. Kyle O’Reilly for shot at MJF at Worlds End
  • Jon Moxley & PAC vs. Orange Cassidy & Jay White

Adam Cole: Continuing the MJF story after my return was the right call

Image: AEW

Despite some online criticism about how things have gone with it thus far, Adam Cole said he is confident that continuing his storyline feud after his return from injury with former AEW World Champion MJF was the right thing to do.

Speaking on a podcast that dropped several days ago, Cole said, “I’m confident in what we’re going to bring to the table. I’m confident in what we’re going to do, and I do think that us continuing this story with me coming back from injury was the right call. I do.”

Cole missed an entire year of in-ring action due to a severe freak ankle injury suffered during Grand Slam Dynamite in September 2023. He eventually returned as a heel, revealing himself as The Devil character at Worlds End in December 2023 after helping cost MJF the AEW World title.

Cole remained on TV with the Undisputed Kingdom but then disappeared again when MJF made his return at this past May’s Double or Nothing, kicking Cole low and unceremoniously sending him packing. MJF then reverted to his old heel character and when Cole made his surprise return to run off MJF at October’s WrestleDream, he then reverted to being a babyface.

He feels they “kind of caught lightning in a bottle” for the stretch in which he and MJF became an unlikely tag team and main evented the first-ever AEW version of All In at Wembley Stadium. Because of everything that has happened, he thinks their story “needs a definitive conclusion.”

“I feel like it’s fair to the angle. It’s fair to the program that, coming back from injury, that’s exactly what I’m hopping into. Of course, you want to make as many people happy as possible. Then, sometimes too with stories, it takes a little bit to get back to where you were because a lot of the stuff that we did was very slow burn,” he said.

MJF will return to action on Saturday’s Full Gear against Cole ally Roderick Strong as he accomplished three straight wins before Cole did, giving him the first crack at their shared enemy. As of this writing, Cole hasn’t been announced for the show with a great likelihood he appears at some point during the match.

MJF vs. Roderick Strong official for AEW Full Gear

After Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite, former AEW World Champion MJF now knows who he will be facing at next Saturday’s Full Gear: Roderick Strong.

Strong (seen above) defeated Lance Archer in a falls count anywhere match Wednesday to go 3-0 while friend Adam Cole lost to Konosuke Takeshita thanks to the use of MJF’s Dynamite diamond ring, putting him at 2-1 in his last three.

The reason that matters is MJF declared that in order for Cole or Strong to face him at the pay-per-view, they must win three straight matches. Cole said last week that Tony Khan changed the stipulation, saying that if both men won three straight, it would be a three-way instead.

MJF was not on Wednesday’s show in person, appearing in a quick pre-taped segment watching on after the Cole/Takeshita match ended.

As of this writing, Cole wasn’t announced as a special referee or having any involvement in the match which remains a possibility.

Assuming it remains as is, Strong vs. MJF would be a first time ever match and MJF’s first action since September’s All Out when he defeated Daniel Garcia.

Here’s the current card for Saturday, November 23rd in Newark, New Jersey:

  • AEW World Champion Jon Moxley defends against Orange Cassidy
  • TBS Champion Mercedes Mone defends against Kris Statlander
  • TNT Champion Jack Perry defends against Daniel Garcia
  • Will Ospreay vs. Kyle Fletcher
  • Jay White vs. Hangman Page
  • Bobby Lashley vs. Swerve Strickland
  • MJF vs. Roderick Strong
  • Four-way match for AEW Tag Team titles: Private Party defends against The Outrunners, TBD, and TBD
  • Zero Hour: Costco Guy AJ vs. QT Marshall

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Nigel McGuinness & Tony Schiavone as The Patriarchy makes their entrance ahead of the opening contest.

Hangman Adam Page & Christian Cage (w/The Patriarchy) defeated Switchblade Jay White & Juice Robinson

(You almost had a feeling Robinson was taking the pin here, as he’s not really feuding with anyone Page or Cage. The numbers game were simply too much for the Bang Bang Gang in this one (even with HOOK running off Nick Wayne), as despite being unlikely teammates, Page & Cage were able to work well enough to squeak out the win. They kept the interaction between White & Page pretty even, as it made you want to see their rematch come Full Gear.)

Evenly paced back and forth from Page & White to start, until Cage made a blind tag right as Page got the upper hand. Cage immediately ate a hard buckle, allowing Robinson to tag in, as he fired off snap jabs until Page got the attention away, allowing Cage to hit a reverse neckbreaker. Robinson sent outside to The Patriarchy, as Nick Wayne got in a shot with the ref distracted. Back inside, Robinson lit up by corner strikes, as he was continuously isolated before being dumped to the floor again. Wayne sized Robinson up again, but HOOK appeared in the front row, pulled Wayne over the railing and brawled to the back, as a confused Cage looked on, allowing Robinson to hit a neckbreaker of his own on the floor.

Robinson made the hot tag to White, who fired off a series of chops and punches until trying a back suplex, which Page floated over onto his bad knee. It allowed a White dragon screw, as he spiked Page with a DDT, tried on Cage, who countered into a Killswitch, which White spun out of into a DDT of his own. Front chancery throw in the corner onto Page, as Robinson, who hit a corner charge and cannonball. Knee breaker and brainbuster from White to Page, as Robinson got a near fall. Cage pulled Robinson outside, but ate a Right Hand of God for his troubles. Page clobbered White with a springboard lariat, as Robinson, who was crotched in the corner, hit an Avalanche Fall Away Slam.

White cut off a Buckshot with a Flatliner, but Cage was there wanting a Killswitch. Another Hand of God from Robinson, as Page was dropped with a Sleeper Suplex. Blade Runner into the barricade on Cage, as Robinson fired off jabs to Page, looked for Juice is Loose, but Robinson rolled through into a roll-up. Mother Wayne distracted the ref long enough for there to be a two, as Kip Sabian brained Robinson with the World Title contract case, allowing Page to hit Dead Eye for the victory. Commentary correctly pointed out it took four people to defeat White & Robinson tonight.

-Renee Paquette is outside Mercedes Mone’s locker room and asks about her match at Full Gear against Kris Statlander. Mone scolds Paquette from even asking a question before she gets her catchphrase in. Mone also scolded Kamille for dropping her $20,000 coat and told her to go put it away. She said last week happened because Kamille can’t drive, as once she left, Statlander appeared in the background. Mone saw her and called for her bodyguard, but Kamille was chucked into the wall. Statlander & Mone brawled briefly before Statlander tackled Kamille through the door as Mone scurried away.

Will Ospreay Calls Out Kyle Fletcher

Tony Schiavone is in the ring and welcomes Ospreay to the ring to a huge ovation. Ospreay said there’s a lot of questions he needs answers to and politely asks Schiavone to leave, as he wants to talk with Kyle Fletcher. His wish is granted, as Fletcher walks out and said Don Callis begged him not to come out by himself, but brought up how Ospreay opted to stay home and lick his wounds a few weeks ago when Fletcher called him out. If he lays a finger on Fletcher, The Family will make sure he’s out longer than three weeks. Ospreay said he’s been in those Family meetings and knows Fletcher isn’t alone, so get whatever else he has planned, as Fletcher pulls out the screwdriver and tossed it to Ospreay, who chucked it from the ring.

Ospreay brought up Fletcher living in his home during the pandemic and joining the United Empire with Mark Davis. Fletcher knows Ospreay better than anyone, knowing where he lives, where he works out, even picking his son up from school. Fletcher said Ospreay wants to take credit for someone else’s success, while Don Callis opened his eyes to the truth, as Ospreay did all those things for himself, like always. Fletcher isn’t a Will Ospreay clone and called Ospreay selfish and a hypocrite, doing exactly what Ospreay would’ve done in his position. Ospreay told Fletcher to pick a lane, either he’s nothing like him or he’s an Ospreay clone. Sure, he stabbed Okada & Kenny Omega in the back, but before that, he was a 3-time Junior Heavyweight Champ, 2 time Best of Super Juniors winner. What has Fletcher done that’s not Aussie Open related, he’s done nothing on his own.

Fletcher said it’s about what he’s going to do, as he wants a match with Ospreay at Full Gear. Ospreay said this is what it’s all about, his 5 minutes of fame on PPV. Since Ospreay has been here, there’s been 4 World Champions and none of them can hold a candle to what he can do. Ospreay accepts the match and brings up watching Fletcher shave his head with his 6 year old by his side at home. His hand was numb from the Tiger Driver he suffered and promised to be the one to take this all away from Fletcher at Full Gear. Fletcher said if Ospreay thought before was bad, it’s nothing compared to Full Gear.

Brian Cage & Lance Archer came to the ring, as Ospreay laughed and said he’s also got some backup. Mark Davis & Powerhouse Hobbs came in and the brawl was on until Davis & Fletcher had a stare down. That was brief, as Ospreay took the fight to Fletcher and hit a dive. Everyone but Archer brawled away, as Roderick Strong’s music hit and he charged out with a kendo stick and they fought to the back, as the next match begins immediately.

Roderick Strong defeated Lance Archer in a Falls Count Anywhere Match

(A far quicker match than I expected, as despite not getting in a ton of offense, he got off enough to win the match. I wish this went longer, as it was a fun brawl in the crowd the entire time. The win sees Strong advance to Full Gear and for the time being it’s a singles match with MJF, who again, we saw watching from his home for about 5 seconds, which has been the case the last few weeks.)

It’s almost completely dark, but apparently Excalibur knows that Archer slammed Strong through a table and got a two count before things went right to commercial. Back from break, Strong momentarily gained the upper hand until Brian Cage showed up again, wanted a chokeslam/powerbomb with Archer, but Matt Taven & Mike Bennett made the save. Bennett & Cage brawled away as Archer waffled Taven with a big boot, both stood on top of the guard rail, chokeslamming Taven onto two security guards. Archer wanted to do the same to Strong, who crotched Archer and hit forearms before a chair was tossed into the face. Strong leapt over the barricade with a jumping knee and got the a pretty quick pin.

We saw MJF watching from his home smiling, as Strong took the mic in the ring and screamed that at Full Gear, this all ends and he’ll finish his ass. Konosuke Takeshita appeared from behind and continued to beat down Strong until Adam Cole charged out and they slugged it out until the referee ran to the ring and started their match.

AEW International Champion Konosuke Takeshita defeated Adam Cole

(I thought this was a really good match and really wasn’t that surprised by the finish, considering Don Callis was presented with MJF’s ring last week. Having MJF vs. Strong at the PPV gives them more time to build up to when Cole finally gets his one on one match against MJF, presumably at World’s End. If they’re going to do the match, you’d want MJF to be on TV to build it up, so once his movie is done shooting, he can come back and they’ll be off to the races. I also appreciated that Takeshita didn’t take a pin two weeks in a row, after losing the tag match last week.)

Cole’s music continued to play as he clotheslined Takeshita over the top to the outside, allowing Cole to do his Adam Cole Bay-Bay pose for the crowd. Cole wanted Panama Sunrise, but Takeshita leveled him with a wild elbow strike in mid-air as things went to picture in picture. Back from break, Cole hit his neckbreaker onto the knee for a near fall, as he tried a superkick follow-up, but Takeshita really had to work for, but successfully turned it into a Blue Thunder Bomb for two. Ref checked on Cole, who foolishly tried a forearm battle, as Takeshita no sold a few before scored with a big time shot. Cole responded with a pump kick and enzugiri, tried to lower The Boom, but Takeshita ducked and hit a rolling elbow. Takeshita wanted a brainbuster, but Cole quickly countered into one on the knee for a close two.

Cole wanted Panama Sunrise once more, but Takeshita countered, swung Cole around into the Bastard Driver, power German and massive lariat that turned Cole inside out, but kicked out at two. Takeshtia missed the big knee, leapt for a Takeshita-line, but Cole hit a superkick in mid-air followed by the Panama Sunrise. Cole dropped the knee pad, wanted The Boom, but Takeshita rolled outside and placed the Dynamite Diamond ring on unbeknownst to Cole & the ref. Takeshtia decked Cole with the loaded shot, KO’d him and got the victory. MJF was shown laughing maniacally, as Takeshita showed off the diamond ring before hiding the evidence.

Roderick Strong sprinted out and tried to attack Takeshita, who quickly hit a punt kick low. Takeshita put the ring back on and wanted to KO him as well, but Kyle O’Reilly ran out with a chair, as Takeshita bailed. Takeshita celebrated up the ramp, but didn’t see Ricochet behind him, who hit a superkick, causing Takeshita to scurry away. Ricochet held up the International Title, as back in the ring, O’Reilly helped up Strong as Cole offered a handshake to him, but O’Reilly walked away, staring them down from the stage.

-We see a black truck back up into the arena, as the Death Riders have arrived to “take over the Superstation.”

**********

-Renee Paquette welcomes The Hurt Syndicate backstage and asks Bobby Lashley about his match at Full Gear with Swerve Strickland. MVP cut Paquette off before she could ask if Lashley is prepared, as he put over Lashley and asks how it feels to potentially end a young man’s career at Full Gear. Lashley said he will make an example out of Strickland and will hurt him. MVP said they’ll be watching Strickland’s match later tonight.

We see JD Drake stumble out from the back, as he’s being worn out with a steel chair by Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta, as we’re told Drake was supposed to be competing later tonight. Jon Moxley & Marina Shafir storm out, as Shafir forces a cameraman into the ring.

Jon Moxley Seizes the Superstation

Moxley took a mic and said he’s been thinking of Orange Cassidy the past few days and how Chuck Taylor is drinking his food through a straw because Cassidy wasn’t able to save him. Wheeler Yuta belongs to Moxley because Cassidy wasn’t able to save him. The pressure is building for Full Gear, but Cassidy is cool as a cucumber with his hands in his pockets. Moxley will make an example of him at Full Gear, brutalizing him, stomping his face into hamburger meat, so badly his own mother won’t recognize him. Everyone who calls themselves a contender will run and hide, as they will do whatever the hell they want because they have the power.

Orange Cassidy’s music hits and he calmly walks out before being joined by Rocky Romero & Mark Briscoe. Cassidy says hello, he agrees with Moxley, it’s all because of what’s in the briefcase, the symbol of AEW, it represents all of us, everything pro wrestling can be, the AEW World Championship. They can fight all over the place, but the only way to win the title is by wrestling, as despite not liking to do anything, he’s wrestled the most out of anyone in AEW and reminds Moxley how he beat him before and he’ll do it again. Cassidy said Moxley brings up playing chess and brings up removing pawns before he can take the king, so next week, he’s wrestling Wheeler Yuta.

Moxley said we’ll see if Cassidy has the guts to pull the trigger on Yuta next week. Come Full Gear, Moxley has one message to anyone who wants what he’s got, abandon all hope. The Death Riders were going to retreat, but we see someone leap off the balcony onto Moxley, Castagnoli & Yuta, as it’s Darby Allin in a Sting mask. Cassidy, Romero & Briscoe ran and kept brawling as Moxley & Shaffir bailed to the back and went to leave in their truck, minus Wheeler Yuta, when Allin leapt into the bed on the truck. Castagnoli got out and tackled Allin into the garage door and did a huge Giant Swing on him into it. Castagnoli got back in the truck, as Yuta leapt into the bed and The Death Riders drove off with The Conglomeration checking on Allin, screaming for Castagnoli to come back and fight.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with The Learning Tree, as she asks if Chris Jericho accepts Tomohiro Ishii’s challenge for the ROH Title in 2 weeks in Chicago on Dynamite. Jericho said he has a soft spot for Ishii, as they’ve known each other for nearly 30 years, while Ishii was a young boy who carried his bags and washed his back in the shower. Jericho brought up their match 2 years ago in Chicago on Dynamite, one of his favorite matches, accepting the challenge. Jericho said he’s gone onto bigger and better things, The Nueve and ROH Champion, mentions Jay Briscoe as a former ROH Champion before Bryan Keith said Jericho will blow Ishii’s dumbass away.

-Excalibur tells us the Continental Classic will kick off in 2 weeks on Dynamite.

Dr. Britt Baker defeated Penelope Ford

(Baker’s first match since her illness last month, as the finish was a fun way to show that she can apply the Lockjaw out of nowhere. Baker’s last match prior to her absence last month was against Serena Deeb and it looks like that’s where we’re going from here once more.)

Both ladies trade wrist locks until Baker fired off a series of forearms. Charging neckbreaker connects, as Ford takes a powder, opting to play cat and mouse. Ford swept out the legs and popped Baker in the face with a forearm before a springboard double knee put her in control during commercial.

Ford tried a handspring forearm, but Baker blocked it into a flatliner in the corner. Baker got some head of steam with a Sling Blade, but as she went for corner punches, Ford slid out and dropped Baker face first into the buckle. Handspring forearm hit, as did the charging boot, but as she got a fireman’s carry, Baker slid out, tried a ripcord lariat, but Ford hit a Matrix Cutter for two. Ford went for a moonsault, but Baker moved, hit a thrust kick and spinning neckbreaker. Baker took way too long to put on the glove for Lockjaw, as Ford dropkicked her from behind and applied the Muta Lock. While in the hold, Baker was able to get the Lockjaw and the counter led to the submission win.

Post match, Serena Deeb came to the stage and trash talked, with Baker looking at the camera saying no one cared.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with the returning Mina Shirakawa, who said she’s missed Mariah May so much and can’t wait for the champagne celebration with her when she defeats Anna Jay on Collision. Harley Cameron walks in and pounds the glass of champagne saying some say Shirakawa is the Harley Cameron of Japan. She challenges Shirakawa to a match on Collision, tit for tit, may the best woman win. Both women start shimmying, as Paquette tried putting a stop to it. Excalibur said now Paquette knows how he feels sitting between Schiavone & McGuinness on commentary. This segment was hysterical and Cameron is one of the funniest characters on the roster.

Swerve Strickland (w/Prince Nana) defeated Lio Rush

Both men trade corkscrew counters in the ropes, as Rush tried a springboard, Strickland dodged, Rush backflipped to the floor, but Strickland was right there to flip right into a stare down. Rush raked the eyes, but Strickled targeted the midsection before going back inside. Strickland wanted a Swerve Stomp, but Rush did a handspring into the ropes, crotching Strickland sending him outside as they went to commercial.

Back from break, both men fought to the apron where Strickland hit a big boot before rolling back into the ring with a suplex. Strickland measured Rush with a diving uppercut to the back. Rush managed a misdirect Spanish Fly for two, as he tried a leaping hurricanrana off the announce table, but Strickland looked for a powerbomb, only for Rush to leap out onto the steps and hit a Poison Rana. Diving low dive, as back inside, Rush hit the Frog Splash for a close two. Bounce back Stunner countered from Strickland, who wanted Big Pressure, as Rush rolled through into a pin, held the ropes and Nana pointed it out. Enzugiri connected, as he wanted another Poison Rana, only this time, Strickland powered him into Big Pressure for the win.

Post match, Strickland took the mic and said now that he’s back, everyone wants to use his equity and accolades to make a statement. Rush tried tonight, Shelton Benjamin tried a few weeks ago, but he’s going to have to keep reminding people whose house it is. While their match is at Full Gear, he wants to fight here tonight in Stamford (they’re in Bridgeport) and calls out Lashley.

The Hurt Syndicate’s music hits and out walked MVP & Lashley to the stage. MVP said if he wanted a fight with a Syndicate member, all he had to do was ask. The crowd is chanting “This is Bridgeport” to correct Strickland, as Lashley took his jacket off, as MVP said there’s strength in numbers. Shelton Benjamin attacked Strickland from behind before tossing him to the feet of Lashley outside, who launched Strickland repeatedly into the barricade. Lashley went into the ring after Prince Nana and launched him into the corner before crumbling outside.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Jamie Hayter and asks what is next? Hayter said it’s a good question, as she’s come back to right the wrongs, she’s corrected some of them, but now, she’s thinking of one thing. The camera went dark and we get another Julia Hart vignette, as she awakens from her bed after being shot in the heart with an arrow in the last vignette on Collision. Brody King had called her saying it’s time to come home. Hart walks to the mirror and screams as she puts on her black hat and steps out the window.

The AEW Tag Team Champions, Private Party, made their way to the stage to watch the upcoming main event match.

Kings of the Black Throne (Malakai Black & Brody King) defeated FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) in a Full Gear Contenders Series

(This was a hell of a main event with This is Awesome and Fight Forever chants rightfully given by the crowd. I was pleasantly surprised by the finish of this, as I think I was with many in thinking FTR was going to win. House of Black needed a win after taking a series of singles losses to Adam Cole the past two weeks, so this was a reminder to those of just how great they are. I hope this continues after Full Gear and they remain contenders, as they certainly deserve to be.)

FTR took a sip of Private Party’s drinks before heading to the ring, as it was Harwood & King to start things off briefly, with King standing tall after a chop exchange. Wheeler made a quick tag, picked up the pace, but King hit a big-time back drop and double hand chop before tagging Black. Snap hurricanrana and deep arm drag, as Harwood tagged back in and suffered an arm drag as well. Nice back and forth sequence, as Harwood blocked a PK, some Muay Thai kicks from Black, who ultimately takes a seat, daring Harwood to fight. Wheeler made a blind tag, as Harwood suckered Black into a chase, allowing Wheeler to level him with a lariat as FTR mocked the seated pose with things going to commercial.

FTR kept Black isolated almost the entire break before King was finally able to make the hot tag. King wasted no time running wild with chops and shoulder tackles, punishing Wheeler & Harwood with corner clotheslines and splashes. Overhead throw on Wheeler, as Harwood was sent into his partner in the corner and King hit the Cannonball for two. King wanted a superplex on Wheeler, but Harwood saved his partner, allowing Wheeler to try a sunset flip, with Harwood hitting a diving clothesline into the powerbomb for two. Black pulled Wheeler outside and sent him into the steps, as Harwood ate the pop-up knee lift from Black, who followed with a moonsault to the floor on Wheeler, as Harwood was flattened with a King powerbomb for a close near fall.

The match broke down, as Black was sent back outside and King sent to the corner. FTR wanted the Power-Plex, King took the superplex, but got the knees up on Wheeler with Black flying off the top with a double stomp on Harwood for two. Dante’s Inferno attempt blocked, as Wheeler saved his partner, sent King into Black and connected with Shatter Machine, but Black pulled Harwood outside. Black was pulled to the apron by Wheeler, as Harwood recovered and they hit a spike piledriver on Black, but King was there to fly with a dive onto both Harwood & Wheeler. King Kong lariat leveled Harwood multiple times and got multiple near falls, as King couldn’t believe it. King dragged a rubber legged Harwood to his feet, applied the rear naked choke and Harwood went out cold, giving King the win.

Post match, King nodded to Black, as they helped Harwood & Wheeler up, shaking their hands, showing respect as Private Party watched on as things went off the air.
