AAA Triplemania Monterrey notes: Guerra de Rivalidades, Argenis loses mask

Here are notes from Sunday’s Triplemania event in Monterrey.

The finals for the Guerra de Rivalidades tournament have been set. Sam Adonis and Psycho Clown will meet LA Park and Rush at the next Triplemania event in Tijuana on July 15. Per the tournament rules, whichever team loses that match will advance to the final Triplemania in Mexico City in August, where they will face off in a singles match. The loser of that match will either lose their mask or have their head shaved.

Sunday’s show saw Clown and Adonis lose to Alberto El Patron and Pentagon Jr.. Blue Demon Jr. and DMT Azul defeated Park and Rush. The stipulations of the match had the losers advancing to the finals.

Argenis ended up losing his mask to Myzteziz Jr.. The two faced off after they were the final two luchadores remaining in the Lucha de Apuestas cage match that kicked off Triplemania Monterrey. After their singles match later in the show, Argenis jumped and attacked Myzteziz, who was still recovering from the match before taking off his mask and throwing it at Myzteziz. Argenis later revealed himself as Mirsha Adan Uribe, who has wrestled for 21 years and is originally from Tepito.

In the main event of Triplemania, El Hijo Del Vikingo retained the AAA Mega Heavyweight title, defeating AEW’s Swerve Strickland, Impact’s Rich Swann, and Komander in a four-way match to retain the title, pinning Komander after a 630 splash.

AAA reveals full lineup for Triplemania 31: Monterrey

AAA has revealed the full card for their first Triplemania event of the year taking place next month in Monterrey.

During a press conference held on Tuesday, AAA announced that a Mega Championship match had been added to the April 16 card. El Hijo del Vikingo (or Komander, based on the result from this week’s ROH Supercard of Honor match for the title) will defend against a mystery opponent. LA Park is also returning to the promotion to team with Rush. Originally, Pagano was announced as Rush’s tag team partner, but had to pull out due to injury.

A match between social media influencer Adrian Marcelo and Chessman was also announced. The angle started at the NWA/AAA The World is a Vampire event, where Chessman slapped Marcelo. AAA suspended Chessman in storyline as a result.

Dralistico, who was originally announced as part of the Lucha de Apuestas match, is no longer taking part. He has been replaced by Abismo Negro Jr..

  • Guerra de Rivalidades first round: Rush & LA Park vs. DMT Azul and Blue Demon Jr.
  • Lucha de Apuestas cage match: Laredo Kid vs. Black Taurus vs. Octagon Jr. vs. Hijo de Villano III Jr. vs. Argenis vs. Myzteziz Jr. vs. Aerostar vs. Parka Negra vs. Abismo Negro Jr. vs. Antifaz del Norte
  • Mask vs. Mask match based on the two remaining participants in the cage match
  • Copa Triplemania: Team Chilangos (Dave the Clown, Negro Casas, Latigo, Arez, and Lady Shani) vs. Team Regios (Baby Extreme, Flammer, El Zorro, Toscano, and TBA)
  • Chessman vs. Adrian Marcelo
